I tried to draw something just by looking at it the other day and whew!😓🫠 It was better than it would have been before all this practice, but it was still not great.

I made this extremely misleading meme because I find it hilarious:

Last night, I was chatting with my friend (who originally told me to trace things to learn drawing) and said ‘Partly because the drawings look so good, but I know I’m still tracing, I feel like more of an imposter.’ They later said,

Friend: You’re just like Monet!

Me: If Monet were painting onto a clear canvas following a photo

Friend: Exactly!

Me: Exactly.

So! I decided to experiment with a new technique for drawing on procreate. Basically, I am just drawing little blobs of color for each tiny color difference and then smudging them together where they meet. Kind of like paint by numbers but no guidelines other than the still photo itself.

That means for all of these, except for the most recent one that looks the most finished, I was still effectively tracing. For the final one, I was looking at the photo and then adjusting the shading myself without a guideline. It’s obviously a lot more time intensive then just tracing the outlines of things 😂😅 but now I have proof of concept for myself. I initially started trying this with an apple but then my ADHD got a bit bored so I switched to Aziraphale.

I am learning a lot about color and shading! I do not know if I’m gonna have the patience to try this technique with the wings though 😂 When I’m done, I will post the finished product and the time lapse video of what I did. It’s gonna be really long though because this has a lot of individual strokes. Maybe I’ll be able to figure out how to shorten it or only show part of it.

Second First Meeting

I promised NariLamb and here we are with NariLamb, but I thought I would start from the beginning.

It went as well as you expect. In my hc, Lambert's first thought was for Narinder's health and safety. He was no threat and was on the brink of dying, and they didn't want to lose him (despite demanding their sacrifice). Narinder on the other hand, was scared shitless by the million things he was feeling all at once, mostly pain. It took him several weeks to recover from the shock alone before he could even be pissed off about anything.
