Since book 7 part 5 (the part where we meet Meleanor/Maleanor 👀) is coming to EN this month, i would love to see your take on lilia’s proposal to meleanor! i mean they were like little kids right? it couldn’t have been that serious…i think the only reason she even brought it up again is because she could tell lilia still genuinely loved her…(even if he didn’t realize it himself?) but, oh well! Let’s think about silly childhood shenanigans to numb the pain! ^_^ (orz)
oh shit?! get ready for a doozy guys, it's comiiiiiing ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ
I chickened out of posting the whole thing (look, I get VERY carried away when it comes to these wacky kids and their Tragedy), but I do believe that it probably ended with Lilia getting embarrassed and just shoving the first thing he sees into his mouth to try and cover for it.
(we're just lucky it wasn't a frog this time)

I’m going to hop on the “what if Hiccstrid had Zephyr during rtte” bandwagon, and shamelessly contribute to what has caused my devastating brainrot these past few weeks, cause it’s just. so. good.
Can you imagine all the reactions and conflicts?!??
Not to mention the SCANDAL jk😩
my bebe boy Snotlout takes any opportunity to tease Hiccup about it, because, really, it is sooo funny.
might write a whole fic on it fr fr
That Hiccup angst is just— mmm… *chefs kiss* 🤌🏻

you were raised in comparison.
it wasn't always obvious (well. except for the times that it was), but you internalized it young. you had to eat what you didn't like, other people are going hungry, and you should be grateful. you had to suck it up and walk on the twisted ankle, it wasn't broken, you were just being a baby. you were never actually suffering, people obviously had it worse than you did.
you had a roof over your head - imagine! with the way you behaved, with how you talked back to your parents? you're lucky they didn't kick you out on your ass. they had friends who had to deal with that. hell, you have friends who had to deal with that. and how dare you imply your father isn't there for you - just because he doesn't ever actually talk to you and just because he's completely emotionally checked out of your life doesn't mean you're not fucking lucky. think about your cousins, who don't even get to speak to their dad. so what if yours has a mean streak; is aggressive and rude. at least you have a father to be rude to you.
you really think you're hurting? you were raised in a home! you had access to clean water! you never so much as came close to experiencing a real problem. sure, okay. you have this "mental illness" thing, but teenagers are always depressed, right. it's a phase, you'll move on with your life.
what do you mean you feel burnt out at work. what do you mean you mean you never "formed healthy coping mechanisms?" we raised you better than that. you were supposed to just shoulder through things. to hold yourself to high expectations. "burning out" is for people with real jobs and real stress. burnout is for people who have sick kids and people who have high-paying jobs and people who are actually experiencing something difficult. recently you almost cried because you couldn't find your fucking car keys. you just have lost your sense of gratitude, and honestly, we're kind of hurt. we tell you we love you, isn't that enough? if you want us to stick around, you need to be better about proving it. you need to shut up about how your mental health is ruined.
it could be worse! what if you were actually experiencing executive dysfunction. if you were really actually sick, would you even be able to look at things on the internet about it? you just spend too much time on webMD. you just like to freak yourself out and feel like you belong to something. you just like playing the victim. this is always how you have been - you've always been so fucking dramatic. you have no idea how good you have it - you're too fucking sensitive.
you were like, maybe too good of a kid. unwilling to make a real fuss. and the whole time - the little points, the little validations - they went unnoticed. it isn't that you were looking for love, specifically - more like you'd just wanted any one person to actually listen. that was all you'd really need. you just needed to be witnessed. it wasn't that you couldn't withstand the burden, but you did want to know that anyone was watching. these days, you are so accustomed to the idea of comparison - you don't even think you belong in your own communities. someone always fits better than you do. you're always the outlier. they made these places safe, and then you go in, and you are just not... quite the same way that would actually-fit.
you watch the little white ocean of your numbness lap at your ankles. the tide has been coming in for a while, you need to do something about it. what you want to do is take a nap. what you want to do is develop some kind of time machine - it's not like you want your life to stop, not completely, but it would really nice if you could just get everything to freeze, just for a little while, just until you're finished resting. but at least you're not the worst you've been. at least you have anything. you're so fucking lucky. do you have any concept of the amount of global suffering?
a little ant dies at the side of your kitchen sink. you look at its strange chitinous body and think - if you could just somehow convince yourself it is enough, it will finally be enough and you can be happy. no changes will have to be made. you just need to remember what you could lose. what is still precious to you.
you can't stop staring at the ant. you could be an ant instead of a person, that is how lucky you are. it's just - you didn't know the name of the ant, did you. it's just - ants spend their whole life working, and never complain. never pull the car over to weep.
it's just - when it died, it curled up into a tight little ball.
something kind of uncomfortable: you do that when you sleep.

Prompt 131
Okay, so first of all Dan would like to say it’s not his fault. Ellie was the one to bring some unknown object into the speeder and Jazz was the one driving. Or had Sam been driving- didn’t matter! It wasn’t his fault, he wasn’t the one shooting at them, he wasn’t the one to break whatever, he was not the one to open a stupid portal, and so it wasn’t his fault!
So why is he now like, five years old, and why is the speeder crashed in some sort of corn field. Why is everyone- except for Jazz whose now like six- also like three at most?! And- oh fuck the door just opened and… okay that’s a kid. Like, nine at most.
A kid and an adult, who he hadn’t noticed at first so again, it’s not his fault if he hissed at them and tried to hide his not-siblings behind him. It’s also not fair they’re apparently stuck to ghost speak for who knows how long, but at least they can understand the people.
“Martha, get some blankets, it’s happened again!”

Amanda Waller is the Daughter of Tucker Folley
So! Amanda Waller has always been an interesting person.
She was born the daughter of Tucker Foley, one of the world's most intelligent men, and had high expectations her entire life (though her father never pressured her)
She was raised in Amity Park, a town that existed on the borders of the Living and Undead Realms, alongside the Ghosts of the dead children and children that never got born at all.
She was told stories of the corrupt government agency that terrorised the town in its early days. Of how her Father and his friends managed to push them out of town and get the Acts that empowered them abolished.
She was raised by one of the men who paved the way for the Metahuman Protections Act to be implemented. She was raised alongside metahumans and non-humans. She was raised on stories of Heroes and Villains. She grew up not trusting the Government for the crimes it committed to her Family and Friends.
So how did she ever end up like this?
How did she end up as the Leader of one of the Government's most shady and unethical branches? How did she end up being known as an enemy of Metahumans everywhere? How did she end up so far from how she started?
Well that's a question only one man could ever answer. Her father, Tucker Foley.

I see a lot of information online on how to ask for a raise, but at my job I get a yearly raise automatically. It isn’t much, 1-3% based on merit 🙄. This year they aren’t doing merit based and instead everyone is getting a cost of living raise of 3%. I can’t find information online about asking for raises if you already get a yearly raise. Are yearly raises common? Is it inappropriate to ask for a raise later on in the year if you already received a raise that year? I work at a nonprofit and everyone in my department has the same pay based on experience (one salary if you have a bachelors, another if you have a masters, and another depending on years of experience), so I don’t imagine asking for a raise will change anything, but I’m just curious about the expectations regarding raises and yearly raises. Thanks!
I want you to internalize 2 things immediately, my sweet:
A 1-3% annual raise is always a cost-of-living (COL) raise. ALWAYS. You've been gaslit when they told you that was "based on merit" in the past. If you're not getting an annual COL raise, then they're actually LOWERING YOUR PAY every year. COL raises are meant to keep your pay in line with inflation. As inflation rises, your money is worth less. So your annual COL raise is not actually a raise at all.
No matter how often you're given a raise, you should still ask for another. Get into the habit of it. Every 6-12 months, ask for a raise. Just do it. Especially since we've just established that you haven't had a true raise in years.
Here's our instructions to ask for the raise that you fucking DESERVE, honey:

The First Time I Asked for a Raise
