7 ways to reduce your screen time...
If you create content for a living, schedule your posts in one sitting so you don't have to spend as much time putting them out throughout the day.
Turn on your phone's grayscale setting — this overrides our natural inclination to click on the brightly colored app icons of addictive socials like Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and more.
Use a minimalist phone app. This removes icons altogether, and forces you to intentionally look for what you need from a list of apps as opposed to mindlessly clicking. I'm currently using an app called Oasis Launcher from the Google Play Store.
Turn off notifications from social media, so you are only prompted to spend time on those apps through your own natural inclination.
Oftentimes we reach for our phones because our hands are idle, not because we actually want to spend the time on them — find something to keep your hands busy. For me this is crochet, but it could be a book, a painting, or some other kind of project.
If you find that you spend a lot of time on certain social media apps, try uninstalling the app itself, and only using that form of media through your phone browser. I used to spend a lot of time window shopping on Amazon, and the added inconvenience of not having it available in one click has really helped deter me from spending so much time on it — now I only jump on and use it when I truly need to order something for the household.
Reevaluate your screen time at the end of every week. Many phones have a "digital well-being" feature now that allows you to set time limits on apps, and see how your screen time compares to previous weeks. This can be a great way to evaluate where you need to trim down your usage.

I believe it was a divine intervention who wrote Will Solace on the narrative because how the fuck is he so interesting with so little screentime in the original series? This child who lost siblings and couldn’t even mourn them because he was dragged left and right to help, this child who became a talented and great healer at the ripe age of 12 and became a prodigy at 13, this child who kept absorbing pain and pushing down anger, this child who faced his trauma with a Trademarked Solace Smile and makes everyone feel safe besides himself, this child who had to be a dependable pillar, this child who saw death for so many times and had to accept it, this child, this child, this child whom everyone turns to at all times, this child who’s still only 16 and hasn’t properly been himself much because he has a duty that he loves and must uphold—helping and healing, something he deemed he could only do for others because he believed couldn’t do anything else. This child who got so scared when his best friend went missing, when his remaining siblings went missing, when he thought his father didn’t recognize him. This child who swallows his sadness. This child who was afraid of not being enough, who was afraid that people might leave him if he wasn’t—this child was afraid of people leaving him, because his own Dad did, his relationship with his Mom was not told much, the older siblings he loved left him by death, and he was nervous if Nico will leave him too. This child who feared losing the love of his life so he turned to his anger, his rage, his wrath—all pent up and went loose for a few minutes at Night herself and gave her a fucking hay fever. This child who had his own identity, who had and still has endless possibilities regarding who he is, his powers, and feelings yet reduced to just being a silly, goofy, perfect boyfriend healer of Nico di Angelo who never had a bad day and is stable—and some people loathe him for being “Nico’s Boyfriend” as if it’s his fault. This child is William Andrew Solace and I believe none of us has truly met him fully.

bethany and steve talking about how their scenes and lines were cut out and they had to quite literally beg and advocate for their inclusion in the show. nevermind the treatment rhaena is getting in the show that just… is insanely off track from the treatment she got in the books. characters with little to no relevance are given screentime and have scenes that should have gone to other characters, actors experiencing racism and hate from the gp, and poc characters either being scrapped or reduced to a fanfiction version of the writers fantasy. mind you, baela and corlys are in my top five favs on the show, and here i am being told that despite their importance in the narrative (especially baela’s) they are either reduced to the background, sidelined or cut out completely? but they have enough time to film olivia cooke taking a fucking bath every episode? phoebe even mentions they’d get disappointed looking at the script knowing they wouldn’t have any lines. not to mention, other canon poc characters like nettles go erased and merged into other black characters, and it’s STILL not done with a manner of intention and care. it feels intentional to have these characters be played by black actors and then do this to them. fucking KYS ryan and sara

One of the most jarring things about this season of 9-1-1 is how they got rid of most of the recurring characters and yet it feels like we've barely seen meaningful interactions between the main characters, because somehow they decided it was better to give screentime to... Gerrard and Brad???
Like, Athena's family has basically been written out entirely so it's just her and Bobby, and yet we've never seen her with anyone from the 118 this season outside of her husband and that scene with Hen in the finale.
Hen and Chimney never talked about the Mara situation properly, we're barely seeing their friendship.
Maddie and Chimney in 8a have basically been reduced to glorified side characters, with a pregnancy plot that could've been resolved in one scene.
And despite what your opinion of Buddie and their shippers is, Buck and Eddie are still best friends, so it's kinda baffling they haven't talked about the Chris situation like, at all?
Not to mention the stagnation or outright regression of characters just because.
Like, one of the things that attracted people to this show is the found family aspect, and that's been severely lacking this season so far.

Talking to yourself has such a negative stigma in our society, and that sucks. Self-talk is so useful! I’ve picked up a couple of new habits recently that involve self-talk:
Asking myself “how are you?” I do this aloud, tho I don’t always answer aloud. This lets me check in with my body — “I have to pee” and mind — “I’m frustrated” — in ways that I frequently don’t do throughout the day.
In my ongoing quest to reduce my phone screentime, whenever I pick up my phone I say aloud, “I am picking up my phone to do X.” This helps me a) remember what I’m picking up my phone to do, instead of picking up my phone e to do it then immediately getting distracted by a new text message or other notification and forgetting my task and b) helps me realize when I don’t actually want or need to be picking up my phone and I’m just doing it out of habit. “I’m picking up my phone because I am bored and need a distraction” is perfectly fine but I need to consciously acknowledge that’s what I’m doing.
Anyway, I like both of these new habits. Talking to myself is fun!

Regarding Donna Beneviento and her characterisation in the fandom, I think it's important to note that she really isn't the shy awkward adorable blushing mess that everyone depicts her as being.
This got long but I did a mildly extensive read on her character under the break! :)
Here are the notes I took a screencap of, written by Mother Miranda, which talks about the suitability of Donna being a vessel for Eva:
Tumblr media
There's the evidence you need that she is severely mentally ill, so babying her just feels... wrong anyway, all things considered.
Note - "and has divided her Cadou among her dolls in order to control them from a distance." While I'm on my 3rd replay of re8 I still don't fully get how the Cadou works, but what I think is essentially happening is Donna is literally splitting off parts of herself and putting them in her dolls.
The main one being Angie, of course.
I always used to consider Angie a separate character entirely but she's linked deeply to Donna on a very personal level. Considering what she's like and what all the other dolls are like - loud, funny, sarcastic, rude, etc - and how Donna is literally the one directly controlling Angie (that's the only way she moves lol, because Donna is carrying her places. Which is also why, when you kill Angie, the illusion melts away to reveal that you've actually killed Donna), I think it's safe to say that's what her actual personality is like.
Also, her only spoken line of dialogue? Please listen to it. For those who are hard of hearing, like me, she says: "don't leave... I can't let you."
Bearing in mind the way she speaks? Her tone? She sounds confident imo. Determined. And perhaps even a little angry at Ethan for thinking he can escape her.
Just a last addition as well, can I say that her abilities as one of the Four Lourds is genuinely evil? Everyone else has physical intimidation - Alcina has her height and her claws and mutation, Heisenberg has his ability to control magnetic fields and metal, and Moreau can mutate into that huge fish-with-legs thing that vomits something akin to acid? Oh yeah and he can swallow you whole too.
Donna, on the other hand, doesn't have physical intimidation like that. She only has the threat of psychological damage (which makes sense considering she's severely mentally unwell). When Ethan goes through her gardens and has to solve the puzzles in the house, she makes him hallucinate about his wife whom he thinks is dead, and about his baby who is somewhere in this unknown country with a bunch of mutants who only have bad intentions.
It's even worse in the Shadows of Rose DLC imo. As Rose, Donna makes her hallucinate the bullies from back home, being called a freak and a weirdo, made to relive the worst moments of her life. And the puzzles too? Hell. Having to actually recreate the scenes of her bullying with wooden fucking dolls. I remember feeling really sorry for Rose while playing through that part.
And yet Donna is still "the uwu baby" because what? I don't know. People love to declaw female villains just because they're attractive (looking at Lady Dimitrescu here). They love to reduce the characters down to their looks and not consider their actual lore or background or the role they play in the franchise (looking at Leon especially...)
Which, ya know, of course people are allowed their headcanons for characters and Donna doesn't get enough screentime to really have her personality even thought of, let alone to be made canon. But I think it's fair to say that Angie and Donna are basically one and the same because they're literally the same Cadou.
Tumblr media
This is a quick reminder that you are, of course, allowed to disagree with me. Everyone has their own opinions and that's fine. If you would like to politely debate about this in my comments or in my DMs, or even in my asks, then you're more than welcome to! Please remember debating and arguing are two different things though.
If it really irks you that bad then please scroll, it's not hard. If you don't want to do that then feel free to block me - the button is free of charge after all and should be used more to cultivate your feed to your liking.

Hobie Brown accidentally canonically being exactly like Percy Jackson is so good and showing how fake Pjo fans are. What,i thought every guy with black hair and 'a troublemaker smirk' looks like Percy to you guys,is Hobie disqualified because his hair is wicks and as if he dosen't have a default rbf like Percy is described to?Does 'I'm not a hero because calling yourself a hero makes you self-mythologizing' not sound like a Percy line.Have y'all not read Hobie's comics or are you too busy reducing him down to a wingman for your ships to pay any mind to him as a complete character in under ten minutes of screentime alone.Protagonist-coded,gummy shark-shaped and vaguely dadish remains the superior combo

I feel a lot of discussion of misogyny in fandom would be greatly improved if people acknowledged and understood that a huge component of misogyny, especially in how people judge and berate women, real and fictional but separated from them by some distance (vs irl interactions with women face to face) is that there is virtually no "acceptable" behavior in the eyes of the misogynist.
It's not just that the woman or the female character made too emotional a decision in the moment of great crisis and therefore she's hysterical; it's that if she'd made the "logical" decision she'd be called too cold and ruthless. It's not just that she's a treated as a joke character reduced to being kooky but hot; it's that if she were seen as even slightly more serious and/or less conventionally attractive, she'd be an unfuckable killjoy or called crazy or a bitch. If she's physically weak she's a useless damsel and dead weight the other characters have to deal with; if she's physically strong she's insufficiently feminine. The problem is ultimately that the acceptable range of behavior for a female character (and women in real life) is a single point in space defined by "listens to the much smarter men and does what they tell her and doesn't take up too much screentime," and for many people even the smallest deviation from that point is justification for hating her.
A truly depressing amount of energy (some of which I have absolutely been guilty of expending in the past, and have been trying not to do for some time) goes to sniping between people who generally do like female characters over interpretations on an individual level - whether any one female character is silly or serious, led by emotion or logic - when the misogynists are open to quite literally any interpretation provided the conclusion is "and that's why she sucks and I hate her." I'm all for a discussion of different character interpretations, but the people who are being bigoted are not the ones saying "oh man she's very argumentative" if the next part of the sentence is "and that's an interesting trait to give her." The bigots are the ones saying "why won't she shut her stupid mouth and listen to the men instead of arguing all the time."

I hate how the fandom for Earthspark specifically only treata the terrans as set pieces or accessories for the legacy characters and will complain that they get "too much screentime" when THEY'RE THE MAIN CHARACTERS. If you don't like the main characters getting so much screentime, sorry but maybe the show just isn't for you?
But like the treating them as accessories part is especially bad with Hashtag. Most fanworks with her are about specifically her relationship towards Starscream, and usually with a heavy focus on Starscream. But when friends have posted stuff with her that doesn't involve Starscream? It get comments bringing up Starscream when nothing in the post involved him at all. It sometimes feels like you can't even mention Hashtag around Starscream fans without them bringing up Starscream when you said nothing about Starscream. Plus people will put a heavy focus on Starscream's trauma, but erase that Hashtag recognized Starscream's trauma because he was actively engaging in the cycle of abuse onto the other seekers and because Hashtag herself has trauma too (which people especially erase or forget about). I get liking Starscream more than Hashtag but people take it to a point that is reducing her down to nothing but an accessory to him and do not just in their own posts, but the replies of other's posts without him involved at all as well.

Cat Noir: What's the point?
I know this is a common criticism regarding later Miraculous seasons, but I ask this with absolute sincerity: why is Cat Noir here?
I get it in the first two seasons: it was just him and Ladybug, and he was the one who provided help for Ladybug. Sure, he was also kidnapped or brainwashed a couple times, but in one way or another, he always helped defeat the akuma.
Now? Marinette doesn't need him anymore. The world doesn't need him anymore. Since Season 3, he's slowly taken a backseat to more heroes, more people with superpowers, until now he's nothing more than the distraction, someone to be the human shield and nothing more. He doesn't get an on-screen transformation anymore, even Plagg feels minimized in terms of screentime.
When it comes to akumas, Marinette has more powerful and more capable heroes to help her. Minotaurox with his invulnerability, Viperion with Second Chance, Miss Hound with her fetch ability, you name it. All of them can do the job better than Cat Noir, and that's just the superheroics. Since Season 4, Alya's become Marinette's confidant in both civilian and hero life. So Cat Noir can't even be the confidant anymore.
At what point should Adrien accept he's no longer needed, hang up the ring, and be Marinette's full-time boyfriend? Merch sales might drop, but it's not like the writers care about him. It's not like Ladybug would care if he disappeared. He may as well be gone this season with how utterly useless he is.
It's just...this is what the Agreste Arc was leading to? Adrien's increased benching, his increased softening, until he's just a boyfriend and a human shield? For crying out loud, Tuxedo Mask does more to help Usagi in her civilian and hero life than he does. And for what? To what end is Adrien pushed aside?
Had it not been for me deleting my Twitter account, I'd personally ask Thomas Astruc myself. I would ask him straight away why Adrien is reduced to being a distraction, a token boyfriend.
