so, yes, i would absolutely, no questions asked, recommend Time and Tide. but this fic is not my typical dramione fic rec whatsoever. at 10 chapters and under 30k words, it is pretty short, so there's no slowburn there. their relationship builds pretty quickly, but not abruptly. hermione being a selkie is one of the biggest story points in this fic, which i loved. i don't feel like i see many creature!hermione fics, honestly. the most notable feature of this fic, though, is just the writing itself. i mean, it's beautiful. you can absolutely tell the author is a seasoned and talented writer. for a short fic, the characterization is great and the entire time i was practically screaming, "PLEASE WORK OUT PLEASE GET SAFE PLEASE BE HAPPY" at my kindle.

also, for the record, there are two endings to this fic. one is HEA, but one is not. both contain smut. i read both because of course i did. the non-HEA version felt a little rushed and...underbaked? i don't love criticizing the work that amazing fic authors do for free, but it is worth noting. if you are going to read one ending, i highly suggest the HEA one, not just for your own mental health, but also for the story. the HEA one isn't even totally HEA, so the edginess is still present!

An attractive waitress set the drinks down in front of them. "Sorry for the wait on these, boys... Oh! Are you Harry Potter?"

Based on the number of buttons she'd undone on her blouse before coming over, Draco had a feeling she already knew the answer to her question.

Harry barely glanced at her as he shrugged uncomfortably. Yes, I am."

"In that case, this is on the house."

"That's really not necessary."

She touched his arm where Draco's hand had rested a few seconds earlier, and Harry flinched, reluctantly looking up at her.

"Of course it's necessary. You saved us all from you-know-who. I wish I could give you more than a free meal and drink." She drew out the word 'more,' biting her lower lip and batting her eyelashes. "My shift ends in fifteen minutes, you know..."

Draco watched the exchange, a sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach.

Harry's response to the waitress was polite, but firm. "I'm not interested. Thank you for bringing us our drinks." He gave her a slightly forced smile in an attempt to soften the clear dismissal.

The waitress huffed. "Fine." She spun on her heel and walked away.

Harry took a sip of his firewhisky and turned back to Draco, looking annoyed. "Sorry about that. I don't know why..." He waved a dismissive hand at the waitress's retreating back.

Draco stared at him incredulously. He knew precisely why the woman had come on to Harry, and it wasn't just his fame. It was those muscular shoulders and arms, tugging at his long-sleeved black tee in all the right places. It was his emerald eyes, disarmingly bright behind his glasses. It was that charming crooked grin... Once again, Draco forced himself to focus and respond. He coughed. "Does that happen a lot?"

Harry sighed. "Yeah, but I really wish it didn't."

"You're not interested in her? I mean, she was... pretty." Draco had to choke the last word out. He turned away, trying to conceal his emotional response.

The discernible jealousy in his voice gave Harry the sudden burst of Gryffindor courage he needed.

"Draco?"

The blond fought to reign in his emotions, attempting to compose his face into an apathetic expression before looking back at his friend.

"Draco. Please look at me." Harry leaned close again, placing a hand on his cheek and turning his head, forcing Draco to make eye contact. Harry's viridian eyes were dark and intense, and Draco's heart began to race as he looked into them.

"I already know who I want," Harry said softly.

"Who do you want?" Draco whispered, hope and longing rising up in his chest.

Harry lightly brushed his fingers over Draco's cheek.

"You, Draco. Just you."

"I want you, too," Draco breathed, suddenly feeling rather light-headed at the sight of Harry's soft smile as he leaned in.

He closed his eyes as Harry brushed his lips against Draco's in a slow, sweet, breathtakingly tender kiss.

Draco couldn't help the needy sound that escaped him a moment later. He ran his tongue over Harry's lower lip, begging for entrance. The raven-haired man responded beautifully, cupping his jaw with both hands and tilting his head to deepen the kiss, allowing Draco slip his tongue into his mouth and explore. Harry groaned softly as their tongues tangled together and Draco clutched the front of his shirt, pulling him impossibly closer across the little table between them.

In the kitchen doorway, a glass shattered in the hands of their waitress. "Told you they were on a date," her coworker crowed happily, snapping a picture. "Think the Prophet will give me some money for this?"

Harry gently pulled back after a minute, pressing one last sweet kiss against Draco's warm lips. He kept his hands on his jaw, watching as his silver-grey eyes fluttered open. They stayed that way for a few seconds, both keenly aware of the magnitude of what they'd just done, and each seeing their own feelings reflected in the other's eyes.

A slow smile spread across Harry's face, crinkling his eyes at the corners in the most endearing way, and Draco felt himself smiling back. He chuckled softly, lifting a hand to brush Harry's hair off of of his forehead, still slightly shocked by what had happened. "Harry."

The other man stroked his cheek with a warm thumb, his hands still gently holding his face. "Draco, I—"

He was interrupted by a soft tone indicating a tempus alarm from Draco's wand holstered in his sleeve. They both jumped at the sound, and Draco groaned in frustration. "I have to get back to the hospital."

"Come over after?"

Draco eyed Harry's delectable mouth again, wishing he could skip work, but he had important appointments to keep that afternoon. "Yes, of course. We should... Talk."

MINI REVIEW [Alerta de Spoilers ⚠️]

Nas primeiras vezes que li eu gostava bastante e ainda curto muitas partes, mas o James é tão idiota que eu torci pra Lily ficar com o Sirius mesmo. Aliás, minha parte favorita é quando a Lily e o Sirius começam a namorar.

Não se pode exigir logo de primeira muito controle emocional de adolescentes. Digo isso pelo rolo que vai virar. 

Fora a construção dos personagens que até então na primeira vez eu achei diferente, naquela época eu não a experiência da leitura de muitas fanfics, mas desde o início era uma leitura que me agradava.

Já li outras fics da Vampira Black e posso afirmar que ela tem essa coisa de drama adolescente(ou adultos, depende da fic) com uma pegada bem série de tv mesmo. Eu lembro que em alguma história ela citou as inspirações dela nos doramas (muito antes das pessoas saberem o que era um drama asiático), animes e outras séries americanas. 

Mas assim, até pelo mistério mesmo, é uma história que vale a pena ler devagar.

Remus Lupin x fem!reader ♡ 988 words

You love Remus’ apartment. You love how quiet it is, how it always smells like books and fresh laundry and how there’s always at least one mug on the coffee table with the tea bag still sitting in it. You love the window by his kitchen table, and how he’ll sit with you there on rainy mornings and watch the people going by with their coats and umbrellas, and you love that he’s added another hook on the wall by the door, just next to his, for you to hang your key on when you come by. You love his wood floors, and the water pressure in his shower, and the sofa he got secondhand that’s more plush than any you’ve ever sat on. 

Remus’ miracle sofa is so comfortable it doesn’t even cause a twinge in your back when he leans you back against the armrest, throw pillow fallen to the floor, and kisses you so that you curve your neck forward to meet him. It’s soft enough to dip accommodatingly for the hand Remus slides underneath your lower back, pulling you up into him as he presses you down. Its velvety cover feels cozy and familiar beneath your fingers splayed across the cushion to steady yourself. 

All things considered, you’re too comfortable to account for the feeling that starts up in your chest. It could be Remus’ hand pressing surely into your back, or his tongue skimming across the inside of your lip, or merely the sound of your panting breaths, quick and overlapping in the quiet apartment. All you know is that it feels tight, and it doesn’t go away, inching upward until your heart is hammering in your throat, a blockage for any air you try to take in. 

Remus can tell something is wrong. He pauses just before you push him off, taking his hand from your back and pulling your mouth from his with an unsteady breath. Maybe it’s only you that’s really panting. 

“Alright?” Remus asks, soft but tense. He doesn’t know what he’s done wrong. “Is everything okay?” 

“Yeah, I just—” You take a long inhale. It’s shallow and unsatisfying, but you feel better. “Sorry.” 

“That’s okay. Do you want me to move?” 

He starts to sit back, but you keep hold of his wrist. You don’t want him away from you. 

“No,” you say. “Sorry, it’s not you. I just started to freak out a little, I don’t know why. Sorry.” 

“Sweetheart.” Remus’ voice gentles. He knows about your history. It’s something you talked about early on, once you knew you could trust him but before you did anything more than hold hands. He’s always been exceedingly understanding about it. “You don’t need to be sorry. You’re fine. What can I do?” 

You take another breath. “I don’t think you need to do anything. I feel better now.” 

Remus nods. He looks cautious. “Was it something I did?” 

“I don’t know.” You fight the urge to apologize again, but you hope it shows in your expression. “I don’t think so.” 

“Okay, that’s alright.” Remus takes the hand that’s holding his wrist. He smooths his thumb across your palm, and you realize he’s not touching you anywhere else to avoid upsetting you. Your throat tightens. “Do you want to stop for now?” 

You shake your head. “I want to keep going.” 

“Are you sure? We could do something else.” 

“I’m sure,” you say. Grasp the sides of his sweater, pulling him closer. “I want to keep kissing you.” 

“Okay.” Remus’ lips quirk, and he grows a bit bolder, sliding his hand up the length of your arm to cup your cheek. “What would make you comfortable, lovely?” 

“I am comfortable with you,” you tell him earnestly. 

“I’m glad,” he says. “And I believe you, but that doesn’t mean that I’m okay with making you feel…with making you nervous like that. Even if it’s just for a second, yeah?” He strokes his thumb over your cheek. Heat flares in its path. “I have an idea.” 

You sit up a bit, eager. “What is it?” 

“What if, instead of me touching you, you put my hands where you want them? I’ll just leave them wherever you like, and if you start to get nervous again we’ll take a break.” His eyes flicker up to yours, cautious. “How does that sound?” 

“That sounds…” You chew your lip, stopping when Remus’ gaze drops to the motion. “That’s really sweet, Remus, but we can’t do that forever. It’s not fair to you.” 

He laughs. “Sweetheart, it’s more than fair to me. I get to kiss you. I get to be in the same room with you.” You grin bashfully at that, and his thumb dimples into your cheek, a fond pressure. “We could do it like that forever if you wanted, but we could also just take it one step at a time. Yeah? We’ll figure it out eventually, but this might be somewhere to start.” 

You nod, slowly. “Okay. That makes sense. Um…” You pick up his free hand tentatively, growing more confident when Remus squeezes your fingers. You place it on your side. His long fingers splay over your ribcage, kind and reassuring. “And this one,” you touch the wrist of the hand on your face, “you can leave here.” 

Remus’ smile reminds you of a sunrise, the way it blooms slowly, bringing color to his face and warmth to the room. “Yeah? Just like that?” 

“Yeah,” you echo. “That’s good, please.” 

“Oh, sweetheart, there’s no need to say please.” He dips down, pecking teasingly at your lower lip. “You know I’m happy if you’re happy. Let me know if you change your mind, alright?” 

“Mhm.” It’s all the response you can manage, your mind already lost to the feel of his lips on yours. 

“Mhm.” There’s laughter somewhere in Remus’ tone. He kisses you impossibly softer. “Just keep me in the loop.”

Reposting bc this is genuinely my favorite piece of fanfiction of all time!!!

While it is my favorite Drastoria fic, it has so much more depth than that and explores canon from a Slytherin POVs, particularly Slytherin POVs that AREN'T blood-purist bullies. Lots of beautiful subplots, exploring the characters of Aurora Sinistra, Barty Crouch, etc., and giving a phenomenal backstory to the blood curse. Super loveable OC characters are thrown in. It just gets better and better with each chapter. I've read this so many times atp, and honestly, I consider it canon by now. VERY much has the potential to be another cult classic in the fandom in my humble opinion.

UGH, I could literally go on and on about how much I loved this story, PLEASE check it out!!!

Summary:

Deep in the heart of the Ministry lies the Beast Division: a hidden room where ancient beasts roam, and winged creatures soar, and grumpy giant ferrets eat all your biscuits unless you keep them well hidden. Draco Malfoy would know – he’s been working there for five years now, after all.

Meanwhile, on Level One, ex-Golden Boy Harry Potter is stuck in another interminable policy meeting, completely unaware of the mysterious comings and goings just three floors below. But when a giant snake emergency requires the assistance of a Parselmouth, Harry finds himself thrust, unprepared, into Draco’s weird and wonderful world – and naturally, he can’t keep away…

Excerpt:

With a triumphant snarl, Potter rips his canines out of Harry’s hand. “Later, fuckfaces!” he hisses before charging back across the room at full pelt, leaving Harry, on hands and knees, a purple puddle spreading around him, staring in his wake.

“Fuck,” Harry says.

“You can say that again,” Draco agrees, sorrowfully. “Ten more seconds, Harry. Ten more seconds and it’d have been done. As it is, I’ll have to suffer a repeat of that whole bloody rigmarole. And he’ll have his guard up now, you mark my… Harry?”

“Hmm?” Harry answers, absently. He’s busy staring down at his thumb, watching as thin strands of crimson blossom out into the surrounding liquid, and feeling… really rather odd. Sweat has begun to gather on his brow, and there’s a rushing noise in his ears which muffles the sound of Draco’s voice, making it sound as though he’s speaking to Harry from very far away.

“Merlin, you’re a bloody liability aren’t you?” he’s muttering, tugging Harry to his feet and wrapping one arm firmly around his waist. “I have no idea why I ever assumed you were an Auror, when you’d quite clearly have gone charging in on the first mission, tripped straight over the pavement and blown yourself up.”

Draco’s assessment is such an uncannily accurate account of Harry’s brief, unpleasant experience of Auror training, that even in his current state Harry has to work to suppress a laugh. “Shuddup,” he mumbles, but Draco just tuts in response, preoccupied. Harry’s vision’s gone blurry, all the lights in the room surrounded by little rainbow halos, but he can just about make out Draco’s anxious expression as he squints down at Harry’s injured thumb.

“S’OK, right?” asks Harry, trying to work out if he should be more concerned himself. He finds it’s impossible to care though; somehow, despite the throbbing in his hand, he’s more comfortable than he’s ever been, and every single worry in his mind has sort of… floated away. It makes sense; Harry’s so light that he probably could too – could just drift right up to the ceiling alongside the birds – if it wasn’t for the anchoring effect of Draco’s arm keeping him tethered in place.

“It will be,” says Draco, grimly, wrapping the bottom of his own t-shirt around Harry’s thumb, wiping away all traces of potion, and then, before Harry can even work out what’s happening, taking Harry’s thumb into his own mouth and sucking.

“Wha—?” says Harry, but of course he doesn’t receive a reply, only the wet heat of Draco’s mouth, but before he can really start to process what’s happening, his vision begins to clear at the edges, and he feels himself returning, grounded once more, body flooding with heat at the sight of Draco’s lips pursed around his thumb, clearly drawing the last of the potion from Harry’s bloodstream.

He clears his throat.

“Draco, I—”

Draco stops sucking and looks up at Harry, eyes searching. Whatever he’s looking for, he seems to find it, the edges of his mouth curling up into a sly smile. His eyes, dark with intent, don’t leave Harry’s for a second as he lets his mouth go slack, and really, that’s probably a signal for Harry to take his thumb back, to make a joke and lighten the mood… but he doesn’t. Instead he presses down slightly, a weight on Draco’s tongue, testing Draco’s reaction. Draco bites down, just gently, and Harry smiles, thumbing playfully at his lower lip, watching as Draco’s tongue darts out to lap at the smear of blood he leaves behind.

Harry steps forwards, breath coming fast.

“Oh,” says Draco, softly. “You’ve got a—”

He reaches up, indicating Harry’s jaw – the earlier bite, which Harry had all but forgotten about – trying to tilt Harry’s head to the side so he can get a better look.

“Fucking leave it,” Harry grits out, “just—”

“Yes, okay, I suppose we can—” Draco mumbles, half to himself. His eyes are fixed on Harry’s lips, but his body’s tense, his movements still careful. It’s as though all his usual confidence has deserted him – as though he’s waiting for something. For Harry to close the gap, perhaps.

So Harry does.

It’s a gentle press of lips at first, barely there, but enough that Harry can taste his own blood, mixed with a candyfloss sweetness that must be the potion, and it’s not quite right, is it? That’s not how Draco should taste. That’s not how this should go. There’s just enough doubt in his mind that Harry inhales, making to pull away… until Draco lets out a disapproving hum, a sound so deeply, familiarly, and fondly Draco that Harry can’t help but smile, exhaling with relief. Draco’s smiling too, his lips moving against Harry’s own, mirroring him, and then they’re kissing again – properly this time – and god, Harry thinks, this is how it should go.

The kiss itself is a bit of a mess – Harry feeling rather frantic, while Draco’s still clearly pretty tense. His eyes are squeezed shut as though he’s concentrating very hard, and one hand is twined tight in Harry’s hair, gripping it and tugging it so hard it almost hurts, while the other is resting lightly against the small of Harry’s back, as though he doesn’t know quite what else to do with it. Harry’s collar is soaked with blood and his feet are wet through with potion and dirty ferret water, and in the distance Harry can hear the usual animal noises, wings flapping and hooves thudding, and it’s all… well, pretty perfect, actually. But then it’s been ages, of course, whole years since he’s kissed anyone like this – so long since he’s wanted anyone like this – and this is Draco, isn’t it? It’s not some anonymous hook-up or quick one-nighter to burn off energy on tour. 

This is – this is something new. 

Something important.
