Just letting you know that you mentioned Cyan22 [cpk/wilbur/ranboo/wisp] in your mcc rant when I think you meant Cyan24 [hannah/pearl/aimsey/jojo]. Really great post btw, hard agree as a both big fan of mcc, of jojo and hannah especially, and a frequenter of hermitblr.
Tjough I will say,, I absolutely disagree with the idea that there were more 'jojo is s tier' supporters than not at the time (in the post mcc24 pre mcc25 era, i.e., back when her tier was in contention). I don't think I saw more than a handful of posts genuinely arguing for her s tier status, whereas I saw post after post after post about purpled having utterly proven HIS s tier status, but. whatever.
During an argument I had with someone on the reddut, I said, "I think it's annoying how many people seem to have this weird mission to go on any post/comment that even implies the idea of Jojo being S-tier just to comment that they don't think she's there yet." bc like. that was very much happening, and "jojo isn't s" was much, much more popular an opinion to champion post mcc24 than people ever seem to acknowledge nowadays 😭
Tbc, I hope this doesn't come across as aggressive, or like, accusatory in any way? Again, I really liked the post, but as someone who scrolled that reddit day in and day out that time (regrettably.), I find it frustrating just how much the mcc community likes to pretend that they've always been supportive of jojo, our favorite s tier!!!!1!!! when in my experience, that really was not the case for as long as people could reasonably get away with dismissing her- so, until she got her first place (again, not @ you, specifically talking about the reddit here).
Bro I'm so bad with numbers, thanks for the correction.
I get what you mean about the comments on posts on the reddit, I definitely also noticed it. I was starting to get more active on the subreddit around that time.
But I also feel like I remember those comments usually getting down voted into negatives and they were usually done by the same few people I want to say? I also think some art I posted of her also got unsolicited comments, or at the very least just broader appreciation posts for jojo would get those sort of comments.
Maybe I just successfully avoided a lot of the weird jojo isn't an s tier posts, but I still think, at least in my experience, the jojo supporters were at least more appreciated/respected than the people who were actively against her being s.
Oh shit, also, I definitely remember people being weird about anyone trying to strike up the discussion on whether the more contentious nature of jojos tier was because of biases in the subreddit. Those posts were down voted like Nasty and I can't speak about the comments cause I purposefully avoided those.
But yeah I defffo agree that there were arguements about that and there definitely were people that were weirdly against her being s, enough so that it did cause issues, but I think the broader subreddit mostly looked down on people who behaved that way?
I also agree that it's weird how much the subreddit like bounced in the opposite direction, and how some people still act weirdly disrespectful but in an outwardly nice way? Like don't get me wrong, I love jojo getting all the appreciation she can, but I don't really like the whole "here before jojo comments" trend and I think sometimes the subreddit gets a bit too buddy buddy with actual jojo in comments and stuff. But that's off topic.
And dw you didn't come off a aggressive at all. I think what I was more trying to get across is that the subreddit even talked about her in a significant light, even if it was contentious early on. My issue with tumblr and Twitter is less that they talk down on the women in mcc and more that they ignore them yknow?

The woman who kills the Doctor (11933 words) by Hvis_og_bare_hvis Chapters: 6/6 Fandom: Doctor Who (2005) Rating: Mature Warnings: Graphic Depictions Of Violence, Major Character Death Relationships: Eleventh Doctor/Mels Zucker, Amy Pond/Rory Williams, Eleventh Doctor & Amy Pond & Rory Williams & Mels Zucker Characters: Mels Zucker, Eleventh Doctor (Doctor Who), Amy Pond (Doctor Who), Rory Williams, Background & Cameo Characters Additional Tags: Angst with a Happy Ending, Heavy Angst, Murder, Child Murder, Harm to Children, Self-Sacrifice, Healing, Eventual Fluff
Summary: The Doctor, Mels and her (still oblivious) parents are celebrating the survival of their latest adventure when accidentally, a shot is fired. Mels is hit fatally, which makes coming clean and telling Amy and Rory who she is a sudden matter of urgency. Which isn't even the worst news: She doesn't suspect yet that regenerating will weaken her resolve to go against her programming and let the Doctor live. And unfortunately, neither does he
I published the lkh rewrite with girlfriend/boyfriend Mels x Eleven I wrote about half a year ago!
Tumblr media
[ID: gif of Mels and the Doctor in front of the TARDIS. She says "I'm their best mate" and he answers "Then why don't I know you? I danced with everyone at the wedding." end ID]
Because of course, the Doctor should have known (& dated) Mels long before lkh takes place. So I made her a companion. Which would lead to quite a different situation in the actual episode. Quite a tad more angsty but also Mels gets to make her own decisions and not just the ones the plot demands of her <3
I also got rid of 1940s Germany because why include nazis when you can do without, right? Instead, we're getting a nice spaceship because when the Doctor dies, there should be stars.
(Warning/Explanation: There's a lot of blood in this one. And for some reason my mind produced a bunch of child extras, so the 'Harm to Children' tag is there for psychological damage due to witnessing multiple people being killed. The 'Child Murder' tag refers to a kid accidentally shooting Mels.)
@marvellouspinecone and @jennyandvastraflint I gifted this to you, not sure whether you have seen. I hope that was okay. You just both accompanied my writing process and gave me ideas and basically, since I've found out I can gift fics I have found myself unable not to exploit that power. Feel free to skip this in any case, I know it is rather heavy, so please don't feel obligated to read it <3

Hi, I was hoping I could get a genshin and HSR match up if they're still open? I use she/her pronouns, and I have a romantic preference for men. I'm a big time introvert and not one for small talk but I always try to be polite and kind. I've been described as being too sensible by multiple people but I will also laugh at some of the dumbest stuff. My hobbies include writing, drawing and cooking, generally I like anything creative. I hope this is okay and that you have a lovely day!
A/n: I really hope you like my answer! I just thought that someone who can understand and appreciate you would fit so much more better than the opposite ♡
Tumblr media
FREMINET
@ awww look at those two introverts in love ♡
@ understands you all to well. You want your peace and quite? He'll leave you to yourself and lets you draw, take a nap, read or whatever.
@ greatly appreciates if you'd do the same, but only really rarely. He does enjoy your company a lot! You bring him internal peace. Just having you sit beside him while he works on a new project really gives him motivation.
@ psst, he wants to show off, just a little ;)
@ takes you diving with him! I hope you're not scared of the ocean tho- if you are, he'll guide you through it. He never lets go of your hand, even if it means that he will have a constant blush on his face and butterflys in his tummy. If you really are way, WAY to scared tho, he would obviously never force you. You two just walk by the shore collecting some seashells!
@ and if you love/like the ocean, he would shyly ask you if you wanna join him. Like everytime he would ask you. Or at least if you wanna wait for him by the shore.
@ LOVES LOVES LOVES to see your drawings, if you wanna show them that is. He can also draw yk, so someone who shares the same talent would also mean for him to share his supplies. Dw, take them without asking, it's a relationship after all.
@ and if you want you can make designs for his toy projects for the kids!
@ Is just as sensitive as you, maybe more, maybe less. But what is definitely a fact, is that he will comfort you nonetheless. Depends on how you wanna be comforted tho. Bit i think his style would be, have a cup of tea and let it aaaall out. Vent on him, he can listen well.
@ the twins think you two were meant to be-! Really supportive of you two.@ And Father is just as happy, she can't show it, but you're part of the family now sooo...you better not hurt her boy :)
Tumblr media
DAN HENG
@ well--if you love writing, you're prefect with dan heng cause he loves reading-
@ would understand if you don't want him to read your written pieces, but would feel very honored if you would show him. Even just a glimpse would get him to praise you.
@ if you do show him--damn he would unintentionally correct your grammar or phrasing. Not that he shits on your grammar, its just-idk how to describe it he means it really nice but in dan heng style it comes off more as cold
@ and the corrections of your phrasings are just ideas on how to change things or make it more interesting. He probably read more books than the whole astral express crew together, like easily.
@ thats why he would get it if you don't wanna show him---he's aware lol
@ BUT! what he would do 100% and nobody can stop him, is reading to you ♡
@ lay in his arms and relax. Let his soothing voice lull you to sleep~ And if you wanna read on your own, do that, he'll wait for you to turn the page.
@ would also 100% discuss what you two read afterwards lol. Like a lil bookclub
@ he can actually cook, very well too. But he always says his skills are nowhere near yours, even if you deny it, he stands his point.
@ gracefully DEVOURS your food and asks for a second plate ♡
@ oh look, someone who also hates small take, yay. You two were so awkward at the beginning of the whole relationship. The beginning of the whole meeting each other for the first time too!
@ it was definitely him who took all the first steps. Even more awkward cause....he only knows the most things form books cause he has no real life experience-
@ made the mistake of asking March-the things he went through just for you-you better be greatful (jkjk)

dw for being honest. and yes I get the same ick feeling sometimes when reading certain idols nsfw posts but its still inruiging because in a way it reflect how he performs on stage. same i dont know if id get along with seungmin or lee know even as a scorpio i find them a bit too hit or miss like ur not quite sure what version u would get if u were going to meet them. but im sure theyre nice just to have a conversation with and i bet theyve got loads of thoughts on varying topics that they maybe are unable to discuss with others and such yh i love chans talent and his producing skills is amazing just maybe not in the sexual producing sense haha.
i also kinda get the feeling that he is much more comfortable or skilled with performing but u would kind of have to teach him things outside of what he does in the idol world cause i think idols in general rely so much on staff that they might not know much else besides what they do they might have an interest in something else but u would have to instruct them a lot bc in the idol world they kinda kept in their own bubble so to speak. for instance maybe cooking or yknow domestic stuff like that. i think the same about mingi and how he would suit someone whos wealthy yet skilled enough to take care of him.
if possible can u do only for the older members of skz would they want kids if so how many? cause I cant imagine basicslly having to lead 7 other kids then later on bangchan would still want his own but i still think he would be a great father maybe just not right now in this current time period cause he would still want to do his idol activities as long as he can.
Yeah i get what you mean with that hit or miss with lee know and Seungmin. Even tho Lee Knows my second bias after Changbin😂
And the thing about the idols needing teaching and assistance/guidances is actually very on point i have noticed that before in some idols. Not necessarily with skz but just in general. It must have its effect being closed up in a very limited world from your teen or even childhood years and having so much of your life being watched snd controlled and having things done and given to you etc. Im not necessarily getting that feeling with chan but im getting it a bit with Changbin, i think this may also be because of him growing so filthy rich, i remember him saying recently that he has NEVER went grocery shopping alone. Excuse me what?!🥲
Anyways here's the reading, it was very fun and interesting actually i love having a look into such topics🥰 i hope you enjoy it too.
Deck used is the 3rd Eye Tarot🌼🌸
*for entertainment purposes only!
Skz Hyung-Line do they want Kids? How many?
Chan - Knight of Cups, Page of Swords, The Empress, 5 of Pentacles
Wow ok so chan does want kids and he wants to have kids a lot and he wants many at that! His poor, poor wife. Im seeing like 4-5 little buggers😂
Lee Know - Page of Cups, The Hierophant, Ace of Wands
Lee know doesn't seem too eager and wants to keep him and his wife (partner) and their love young. The decision would be probably more in the hands of his wife (im just gonna use that as im seeing very clearly a woman being presented in the energy) as he doesn't mind having a childless mariage. As i said he would love having the extra time with his wife to keep themselves young and explore new hobbies and the world and themselves. But if it came up to it and his wife made a conscious choice of having a child they they would probably have just one.
Changbin - 3 of Pentacles, 8 of Wands
Changbin wants 3 and he wants them quick. I feel like he would love to have girls, probably all 3 of them being girls. I think he would find it really cool if they were triplets or something. Or their first being twins and the third little one being their little sis or brothers and so everyone of their children feels supported and protected among themselves too with the oldest ones having each other and the younger one having their sisters. I also get the feeling that his swimmers are also very potent🌝 so a pregnancy might come unexpected actually. He would love to keep it tho. He really really want to have children quick and fast (if its with the person he loves). Its like he can't wait to already settle down in his family life. I might just be picking on his soul tho, idk if his conscious self is currently on the same wavelenght😅 Oh and i think he would be a very devoted father and want to spend lots of time with his kids and teach them things, and go explore and have adventures with them and have them teach him new things like slang, and what happened at school and how Amanda got pink highlights or whatever😂 like middle school tea yk. He would love that!
Hyunjin - 6 of Cups, Ace of Pentacles
For hyunjin im seeing just one kid. He doesn't seem too eager for kids but he's open to it and sees it as something thats just part of life and being an adult. I think he would be good with his child too, but it will be more of a calmer dynamic and i think it might be a bit of a struggle to actually get that kid. Maybe it would be a while or the acquiring of the child will be a long and tiring process, like maybe something like adoption. I actually see him with an older child too, like him giving something to an older child thats already like 3-7ish. And i also feel the vibe of him being alone with that kid, as in his partner isn't there with him. Kind of explains the calm, devote of excitement energy. I don't feel very comfortable getting into that to be honest so im just gonna leave it as it is and not get any confirmation on anything.

hiiiiiii i demand you drop everything you have on Elias like uh this instant (he’s so silly i love him ahajajsbdbsha)
Tumblr media
KGKEKGKEK FIGHTER YOU'RE OBVIOUSLY TRYNA KILL ME, SENDING ME THIS ASK RIGHT AFTER DRAWING HIM 🫵 MY AUTISTIC ASS CAN'T TAKE ALL THIS POSITIVE ATTENTION, I'M GONNA SHAKE YOU!!!! JSKVKDKVK YOU'RE SO COOL!! FIGHTER WHEN I GET YOU, WHEN I GET YOU FIGHTER--
BUT, Since you asked so nicely I suppose I can deliver 🤭, lucky for y'all, @dustmint and I had an awesome discussion on Elias in the Mindscape (primarily on Mind Jekyll, hehe), all stemming from a drawing y'all will probably get to see quite soon (is this one :33). Once again, these are all messages from discord, so I'm sorry if the formating is weird but I really don't know how else to scribe these 😭 Mints messages are the indented green ones, and mine are the orange :3
(FIRST THO, Mint and I also came up with the ship names DayBreak (Jekyll and Elias) and NightFall (Hyde and Elias) bc we were feeling a little silly teehee (TYSM MINT FOR SUGGESTING SHIP NAMES ILY!!) but, also ofc there's Hydas (kinda reminds me of Midas, which I think is cute since they're both blond) and,,,, most the ones for Jekyll don't really flow as well, but Jekyias is pretty good :3)
Anyways, onto the discussion:
does a Mind Hyde exist in Lanyon's mindscape?? Or does Mind Jekyll just has some like characteristics that make him look a bit like Hyde 👁👁??
I think Mind Jekyll would just have some odd/intensified characteristics from Hyde. since Lanyon was able to see bits of Jekyll in Hyde before he even knew of the split, I think his mind would very quickly just connect Hyde back to Jekyll and skew his perception of Jekyll. Plus, I just don't think Hyde by himself has made enough of an impact on Lanyons life that he would get his own mind person, Lanyon barely knew anything about him and everything he learned about Hyde just kinda fed him more on Jekyll, and that's who he actually cares about. (Sorry if any of that is confusing jekvkksf english is hard rn) but!!! Mind Jekyll, right? Yeah, he would probably dislike Elias, Just like how Mind Lanyon dislikes Hyde. Mind Jekyll would probably think he's helping Lanyon (especially with how much *Lanyon* dislikes Elias) by either getting rid of (or at least keeping control of) Elias in the mindscape
Oooo, yeah, I think I understand :0 (dw! I understand that) Also, poor Elias, he already has some doubt about the real Jekyll liking him, and the Mind version of him just dislikes him 😭 would Mind Jekyll ever try to get rid of Elias in a similar way to what Mind Lanyon did? (Trying to cut off Elias's head) Also, how would Elias feel about Mind Jekyll disliking him and stuff?? ((Also, maybe Mind Jekyll tries to lock Elias in the mindscape or something like that 👁👁??)
.. I may be listening to Chonnys Charming Chaos Compendium in order, which *may* be swaying my ideas a bit, but I think Mind Jekyll would kinda play "nice" for a bit mayhaps? Like, he certainly doesn't act like he likes Elias, more so making it obvious that he just begrudgingly tolerates Elias's presence. As it goes on for a bit tho, Mind Jekyll would probably start getting worse, being much more open about his dislike and actively trying to lock Elias away in sections or rooms of the mindscape (maybe sometimes even with/near one of Lanyons stray nightmares?)
Elias has a *very* complex view of mind Jekyll, bc on one hand, it's *mostly* kinda the guy he loves, plus, having to deal with Mind Jekylls hatred is still better than going crazy all by himself in silence (at least at first). On the other hand, Mind Jekyll does hate him quite strongly and hurts his feelings quite often, making Elias even more likely to spiral. Mind Jekyll is probably one of the main reasons Elias absolutely detests the mindscape. Elias has certainly left the mindscape absolutely hysterical a good few times, going straight to Lanyon, because even *he's* better than having to deal with everything in the mindscape (when he's not simply forced into the mindscape and kinda trapped for a bit, of course. He basically stops going in willingly after a couple of Mind Jekylls schemes (and perhaps meeting his dad, or seeing the ballroom?))
👁👁👁👁 ~~Elias is really going through stuff, damn–~~ Imagine if maybe Elias only ever saw the ballroom but like very vaguely, from the corner of his eye sometimes, and just decided "I'm never going there" because it just gives him some bad vibes and stuff, and just, Mind Jekyll locks him/forces him to go there, and it's Elias just wanting to go away the whole time, not having a fun time while Mind Jekyll is just refusing to let him leave, dragging him by the hand and stuff– ~~(I'm sorry but I can't help but imagine maybe Elias telling what happened to Lanyon later, and Lanyon just like: "😨😰")~~
VJKDJVKEK OMFG YOU'RE A GENIUS, MIND JEKYLL FORCES HIM IN THERE AND HOLDS HIM IN A WALTZ AROUND THE ROOM, BUMPING INTO ALL THESE FACELESS PEOPLE AS THEIR SENSELESS CHATTER GROWS LOUDER AND LOUDER, GRATING ON ELIAS'S EARS AND SENDING HIM INTO A PANIC BC HE CAN FEEL THE HATRED COMING OFF OF ALL OF THEM JSJVKDKVK, ALL WHILE MIND JEKYLL HAS HIM IN A VICE GRIP, PROBABLY BEING THE ONE TO START ALL THE MURMURING THOUGHTS IN ELIAS'S HEAD-- Whoopsie my fanfic writing spirit took over 🤭🤭
OWHROWHDOWHDK 👁👁 Maybe Mind Jekyll is like first sort of talking to the faceless people, maybe flirting with some of them, while Elias is just awkwardly standing behind him, feeling very out of place, and at one point he just decides he's had enough of this, and tells Mind Jekyll that he wants to go, he wants to leave. And Mind Jekyll sort of teases him with an overly sweet tone, and says something how they can't leave just yet, to at least let him have a waltz before that and then them just waltzing and stuff. And maybe at one side it just feels very nostalgic because it makes him think of back when ~~he~~ Lanyon and Jekyll had their affair, or when Lanyon was teaching Jekyll hoe to waltz. But those memories keep getting drowned out by everything else that's going on. AND WHAT IF ELIAS FEELS AS IF THE TICKING OF THE CLOCK IS GROWING LOUDER AS WELL AND ADDING ONTO EVERYTHING ELSE, AND MIND JEKYLL JUST KEEPS TAUNTING HIM BUT AT THAT POINT ELIAS CAN'T DISTINGUISH WHETHER IF ALL THOSE THINGS ARE HIS THOUGHTS OR WHAT SOMEONE ELSE IS SAYING. And then after somehow getting away from that ((and probably having a breakdown)) he just decides that he's never coming back there, and that he refuses to ever go into his mindscape ever since, and that he'll stay outside even if he or Lanyon are sick of each other because anything is better than that?? (Also, what if at one point they just. Lock him somewhere nearby the ballroom, and so Elias can still hear what's going on out there but he's locked and can't do anything except try to get out and listen to everything going on, and maybe he eventually gets out just because Lanyon drank the potion??)
LITERALLY READING ALL THIS AND GIGGLING OMFG IT'S PERFECT JDJVKEJKF YOU'RE A GENIUS ILYSM!!!! I MIGHT HAVE TO GRAB THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE BY THE THROAT AND BEAT IT INTO SUBMISSION BC OMFG I NEED TO WRITE SOMETHING LIKE THAT SO BAD NOW. AND JSKVKDKVKFK UGHHHH THINKING ABOUT HOW LANYON WOULD MAYBE REACT TO ELIAS FREAKING TF OUT OVER WHAT HAPPENED IN THE MINDSCAPE AND HAVING A FULL MELTDOWN. AT FIRST LANYON WOULD PROBABLY DEGRADE HIM FOR OVERREACTING AND BEING AS OVERLY EMOTIONAL AS USUAL UNTIL HE EVENTUALLY SEES HOW BAD IT TRULY SEEMS TO BE AFFECTING ELIAS AND HE ACTUALLY STARTS FEELING BAD KSKVKDKF
PQBDOQHDQODB, IMAGINE IF MAYBE IF THE REASON WHY HE WENT OUT OF THE MINDSCAPE WAS BECAUSE OF LANYON TAKING THE POTION. IMAGINE JEKYLL WAS WITH HIM, AND ELIAS JUST SORT OF GETS SCARED AT SEEING HIM CAUSE HE CONFUSES HIM FOR MIND JEKYLL FOR A SECOND, AND LIKE FLINCHES AND TELLS HIM TO LEAVE HIM ALONE AND GET AWAY FROM HIM MAYBE?? But also, Lanyon degrading him just making his meltdown worse, and then just Lanyon maybe eventually trying to help him?? ~~(also, what if at one point Elias just, for some reason *has* to go into his mindscape, and runs into Mind Jekyll after what happened at the ballroom)~~
OMG, JEKYLL WOULD *NOT* KNOW WHAT TO DO IF ELIAS HAD A BREAK DOWN IN FRONT OF HIM, *ESPECIALLY* IF IT WAS ACCIDENTALLY TRIGGERED BY HIM KDCKKFKEKD
BONUS POINTS!! Elias ends up running off to get away from Jekyll and Jekyll genuinely has no damn clue what to do and just sorta stands there super awkwardly for a while before looking for him. In that time, Elias has already hidden himself away somewhere, now stuck with just Lanyon as he absolutely melts down, drowning Lanyons words out with babbled explanations and questions and apologies. Eventually, Lanyon *does* in fact start feeling kinda bad and awkward and actually starts helping the best he can
If Elias gets forced into the mindscape after the ballroom fiasco he would definitely tread the mindscape more carefully. He'd probably hide in rooms and such, deciding that the loneliness was better than dealing with all of that (or something worse) again, and if he does come across mind Jekyll, he'd probably try to run off and hide, or at least try to lose him.
_______
Mmmm, Elias angst 🤭🤭 also!! Mind Jekyll would probably also be a poison enjoyer. I feel like Lanyon would be slightly scared of real Jekylls poison cabinet, bc why tf does that man need so many poisons, and have an underlying fear of taking any sort of potion from Jekyll. That's also probably intensified after he, ya know, takes one that splits him in two? But yeah, Mind Jekyll definitely encompasses that, lmao
But yeah, Elias does NOT get to have fun in the Mindscape. But hey, at least his clothes are comfy! And when he's in shadow/mirror form, he usually can't hear the pocket watch ticking, unless he's alone.
Additionally!!! I have a playlist for Elias, which if anyone wants to check out, is here. (It does have some unplayable songs tho, which is very sad bc I feel like they're the most accurate for him jekvkdk but!! I offer thee the links to listen to them on YouTube 😌 --- Love Psalm, Hole in the Sky, and Hell Frozen Rain)
ANYWAYS JDKVKKD THANK YOU FOR THE ASK FIGHTER ‼️‼️‼️ I'M GONNA GET YOU, YOU BETTER COUNT YOUR DAYS 😇😇 <3333

(please do not send any asks with fundraiser links)
Hi, you can call me Alex or whatever variation of my username you'd like. <3
I'm in my early twenties, use mainly they/them pronouns, and there is a lot wrong with my brain (both affectionately and in a decidedly not fun way). I have memory issues, so I can and will forget things, including replying to messages. You are ALWAYS invited to send me a reminder—please, please do, I will not be offended, pinky promise.
This blog is 90% fandom, 5% personal shit and 5% misc posts that I like. My inbox and DMs are open, so feel free to message me and interact however you like! If there's something you want me to see, I don't mind getting tagged in posts either.
Please don't be an asshole, and you can find my opinions/rules about discourse on my blog right here. I'm incredibly bad at judging my own tone, so if I come across as overly intense or upset, chances are I am actually not—I'm just passionate about the things I enjoy.
Mulder and Scully have taken over my brain and body, and I don't think they will leave me alone ever again.
I will be tagging spoilers for any newly released shows and episodes. If there is something you would like me to tag spoilers for, just shoot me an ask or dm!
Currently following and tagging for:
The X Files: alex watches x files
Doctor Who: alex watches doctor who, dw spoilers
(PJO The Series: pjo spoilers) show is on hiatus
The Magnus Protocols: alex listens to tmagp, tmagp spoilers
I write fanfiction both here on tumblr and on ao3 under actualchangeling. Requests or ideas are fine, though I cannot make any promises.
Wanna chat with other people about good omens? I have a discord you can join, mostly angelfish focused but we talk about all our beloved idiots.
My other misc current active special interests are Doctor Who and Good Omens, but I dabble in a lot of other fandoms, too. Among those are Marvel/Iron Man, Lucifer, TLOU, The Magnus Archives, Welcome to Night Vale, Prospect (2018), and many more.
My tag system for original posts applies to all fandoms I am currently actively engaging with and follows the same patterns. I tag spoilers when I remember to for about a week, so consider this blog to be very much NOT spoiler free.
alex talks x -> meta, analysis, interpretation, or opinion posts
alex writes x -> either self-promotion or tumblr specific ficlets, without any fandom addition it's original writing of some kind
Any personal posts that are not fandom related are tagged as following; feel free to block them if you're just here for the fandom madness!! I really do not mind.
alex yells at the void -> misc personal stuff
alex gets personal -> potentially triggering discussions of my trauma or mental health, vent posts
Last but not least, the tag for my queue is I’ll follow queue anywhere you go. It's a TLOU reference for those who are curious.

would you ever consider making like little one-shots for CN? like the way you like respond to all the asks abt like childe and his blorbos would u ever make one shots of those? (idk if that made sense sorry if it didn't ahaha)
it's making sense, dw hahah
and idk tbh i kinda like to keep stories contained in their own thing, if that makes any sense? i know this tumblr's existance and all the cyanide discussion is sort of fucking with that notion, but idk how else to say it
i think the main issue here isn't that i wouldn't be willing to write more on cyanide or other works i've already finished. if anything, if there was a priority list of on what story to make extra text for (and keep your hopes down for what i'm about to say bc i don't mean it in the sense that i'm actually really thinking of making it) then an itysg sequel would probably be atop the list, followed by cyanide snippets if that makes any sense.
but what i was trying to get at is that it's not that i don't want to write those, but more that i have so many other wips that i want to write that making room for extra stuff about stories i already managed to get out of wip hell isn't really an easy task LMAOO
and this is all not accounting for original story wips i have revolving around in my head. like i have 18 total genshin wips with jadeite not counted among them and fuck if i know if any of them are going to see the light of day. but they sure are fighting to get out, and they sure aren't sparing the preceived low-priority-ness of extra stuff for stories that already made it out
idk if that makes any sense hahah;,,

i feel like this is cheating on a school assignment....
and if u feel like it is, then feel free to not answer lol
I'm doing an essay for school and of course I picked the Raven cycle as my book/subject
and the prompt is essentially to show how a "stereotypical" character is written well to achieve the authors purpose with the story
if I go with the Raven boys (either gansey ronan Adam, I feel like Noah isn't really stereotypical), which do you think is the best choice?
I don't exactly know what I want to use as my "purpose/point" of the story because there are so many, but I wanna keep it vague until I actually pick a character if that makes sense?
either way, I just wanted to ask your advice as I have zero friends who have read trc (I know, a shame)
thank you so much!!!
first off, this is using your resources Not cheating (but also i support cheating anyway so dw)
i’ve been thinking about this a lot. i will say that i think that a Thing of trc is that none of the main boys fall into being purely stereotypical. with that said, i think you could make a convincing argument for ronan being the most stereotypical Only In the raven boys. ronan in trb is very much the angry, snarky, wears all black boy (a stereotypical character used in a lot of high school media). ronan is the only character not given a pov in the first book and i almost think that one of the Points of trc is that characters are only stereotypical until they are given a voice, or a perspective and then you’re like oh. you aren’t just an angry goth boy, you’re a complete person with complex thoughts and feelings.
that line of reason works for pretty much every other character (gansey, blue, adam, whelk, noah, etc). i was going to say maybe declan is a good example of a stereotypical character furthering the point (his dutiful, responsible actions directly contrast the gangs and spurs ronan on), but the same line of logic that works for ronan works for declan. however, declan stays a side character for all of trc and we only get his pov in tdt. i kind of feel like greenmantle might be the best Pure stereotypical character?? because he’s just an evil guy that wants to do his evil stuff.
what does the collective think??? who’s the most stereotypical??
i hope this helps?????? message me if you wanna discuss more :)

Ya know I feel like there's a shit ton of hyprocrisy going on when people compare RTD's writing and Moffat's on dw but nothing irks me more than when they say Moffat era made the doctor too important when he was portrayed as just a guy in RTD. Like. Are you fucking kidding me. Be for real.
In the GODDAMN first episode, one of the first thing we learn about the doctor is through Clive (rip) in that scene :
The Doctor is a legend woven throughout history. When disaster comes, he's there. He brings the storm in his wake and he has one constant companion. ROSE: Who's that? CLIVE: Death.
So yeah the Doctor is a Legend. Next, in New Earth he is called "the lonely God". Very normal guy core.
It gets worse, who could forget this wonderful speech in The Family of Blood ?
LATIMER: Because it was waiting. And because I was so scared of the Doctor. JOAN: Why? LATIMER: Because I've seen him. He's like fire and ice and rage. He's like the night and the storm in the heart of the sun. DOCTOR: Stop it. LATIMER: He's ancient and forever. He burns at the centre of time and he can see the turn of the universe. DOCTOR: Stop it! I said stop it. LATIMER: And he's wonderful.
The Next one is by Steven Moffat but crucially still during 10s era so STILL part of how the doctor was characterised. RTD approved you might say.
DOCTOR: Don't play games with me. You just killed someone I liked. That is not a safe place to stand. I'm the Doctor, and you're in the biggest library in the universe. Look me up. (There is a pause, then the shadows withdraw.) ANITA: You have one day.
I added it because I saw people act as if the Eleventh Hour's resolution with a doctor boast was completly out of character and not something he literaly did one series before.
Ok now for the real silly, that scene in Last of the Time Lords where the power of PRAYER turned 10 young and hyper powerful. For real. Yeah like a sort of Space Jesus.
Tumblr media
Bonus: that part in Voyage of the Damned when he flied with two angels lifting him like ok lmao.
Those were just the ones I could remember out of the top of my head but "just a guy" my entire fucking ass. Go rewatch that show.
I feel like Moffat is often accused of turning the doctor into too much of an incredibly powerful figure not because he did it more than RTD but because he discussed the trope and as such put a lot of attention on it . All of those I pointed out in RTD are played incredibly straight but in Moffat's era the doctor's legend is a problem. It's the plot of the s5 finale, he became so big his ennemies allied. It's the reason he gets called out in "A good man goes to war"
RIVER: This was exactly you. All this. All of it. You make them so afraid. When you began, all those years ago, sailing off to see the universe, did you ever think you'd become this? The man who can turn an army around at the mention of his name. Doctor. The word for healer and wise man throughout the universe. We get that word from you, you know. But if you carry on the way you are, what might that word come to mean? To the people of the Gamma Forests, the word Doctor means mighty warrior. How far you've come. And now they've taken a child, the child of your best friends, and they're going to turn her into a weapon just to bring you down. And all this, my love, in fear of you.
It continues in Asylum of the Daleks where Moffat tries to erase the doctor's legend and is concluded somewhat in s8 finale with the proposition that what the doctor actually is, is in fact an idiot.
DOCTOR: I really didn't know. I wasn't sure. You lose sight sometimes. Thank you! I am not a good man! I am not a bad man. I am not a hero. And I'm definitely not a president. And no, I'm not an officer. Do you know what I am? I am an idiot, with a box and a screwdriver. Just passing through, helping out, learning. I don't need an army. I never have, because I've got them. Always them. Because love, it's not an emotion. Love is a promise.
But nobody saying stuff like "Moffat made the doctor too important" ever watched Capaldi's era anyway so it's not like they would know.

I'm not gonna make as in-depth a post about it as my other DW analyses, but a month or so ago I watched the season 1 episode "Dalek" and now I'm thinking about it in relation to what Vecna's ending might look like.
A lot of people complain when they hear folks (such as myself and my friends) say they want Vecna's end to be tragic in some way. They interpret it as us saying we want him to be redeemed, or forgiven, or be made into a "good guy" who actually did nothing wrong, or whatever. Which (setting aside all the Henry/Edward stuff, which I'd argue is a separate discussion anyway) isn't the case at all. Not necessarily, at least. Vecna has done a lot of heinous things that can't be overlooked.
However, that doesn't mean he's entirely unsympathetic. He's very relatable in his motives and is a fun way to explore revenge and justice in the extremes. He's an example of the cracks in the Capital S System. However, I would agree that Vecna as a person and as a concept shouldn't be given a full pass on everything he's done just because his reasoning has a strong foundation.
"Dalek" offers a really interesting alternative where the Dalek in the episode is given multiple chances to "redeem" itself or is shown sympathy, only to constantly push back against it and refuse the kindness offered to it up until the very end. Even so, its eventual self-destruction is still tragic.
This is for multiple reasons, but the one I want to introduce here first to set the tone is: It's tragic because there's no changing what's been done to the Dalek, what the Dalek has done, and the general circumstances of what a Dalek is and their history. Rose wants to help the Dalek, but it's simply not feasible given the circumstances.
So, let's get into some of this episode.
We open on the Doctor and Rose landing in an underground bunker in Utah, USA, having followed a signal "calling for help." Inside this bunker are rows and rows of glass cases containing extraterrestrial artifacts, owned and collected by a man named Henry van Statten. We learn that one of these is a live specimen, which van Statten keeps in "The Cage," where they've been attempting to get it to speak for some time, often resorting to physically harming it and making it scream. Okay, NINA silo.
The Doctor goes in to speak to it, since van Statten wants to know what it is, and we get this exchange:
Tumblr media
Some abridged Doctor Who history to explain this interaction: The Daleks are an alien race that's been around for the entire run of the show, first introduced in the original series. As it pertains to the 2005 reboot, early in the show we learn that the Doctor is the last Time Lord in existence because all of them died in the Last Great Time War. The Last Great Time War was fought between the Time Lords and the Daleks, and it was ultimately ended by the Doctor themself killing (or sealing away) both the Time Lords and the Daleks to stop the conflict and save the universe(s).
The Daleks and the Time Lords have had beef for... basically forever, as far as I know. The Daleks also make multiple returns throughout the rest of the series and still remain a recurring antagonist, though I don't know what's been going on with them past like... season 7 or so. We even get a few more sympathetic portrayals of them, but we don't need to talk about that today.
I should also briefly explain here that the Daleks were bred and evolved to hate. They exist only to kill things that aren't Daleks because they see anything that isn't a Dalek as "wrong." They have such a strong will to live in order to push this regimen that they almost don't die, as their bodies will simply refuse to do so, unless ordered or killed by force. Okay, Vecna. In short: they basically only know hatred and anger, and anything else simply isn't part of their genetics. There's some nuance to this in the greater lore, but I won't touch on that here because it's not introduced in this episode.
Anyway, back to the episode!
Once the Doctor realizes that the Dalek is damaged and can't actually kill him, he starts laying into it, circling it and asking "What are you good for?" and "What's the point of you? You're nothing." The Dalek says it's awaiting orders (something it's bred for), and the Doctor breaks the news that all the other Daleks have been destroyed by him and it won't be getting any orders.
Tumblr media
Admitting to his own self-hatred, the Doctor switches on the chains holding the Dalek, electrocuting it. The Dalek begs for pity, and the Doctor says, "Why should I [have pity]? You never did." Then, van Statten enters The Cage with guards and pulls the Doctor out, at which point the Dalek returns to refusing to speak.
The Doctor speaks to van Statten more, telling him about the Time War, learning how the Dalek fell from the sky "like a meteorite" and surmising that it must have fallen through time as the only survivor. And at this point, van Statten smugly eyes up the Doctor, now knowing that he, too, is an alien not of this Earth, and chains him up to be studied and tortured just like the Dalek. There's honestly so much I could say about van Statten and his similarities to Brenner, so I might do that some other time.
Meanwhile, Rose, who's been tagging along with van Statten's assistant, unaware of what's happened thus far, sees security footage of the Dalek being tortured by one of van Statten's scientists and goes to The Cage to investigate and try to help.
She talks to the Dalek, asking if it's in pain, saying that she can help because she has her friend, the Doctor, with her. The Dalek says yes, it is in pain.
Tumblr media
Rose continues to insist they help, but the Dalek says that its race is dead and it will simply die alone. Rose places a gentle hand against its "head," which burns her, and as she pulls away, that Dalek shouts, "Genetic material extrapolated. Initiate cellular reconstruction."
Having gotten DNA from Rose, a time traveler, the Dalek is able to regenerate, fixing all of its damage and breaking free of its chains before hacking out of The Cage and gaining access to the entire bunker. In short, it starts killing people indiscriminately and drains all power from the bunker, from Utah, and from the entire west coast of the USA, also downloading all of the information from the internet at the same time.
Most of the rest of the episode is an extended chase scene, where Rose and the assistant, Adam, are trying to get up to a higher level of the bunker, though are often relegated to stairwells and detours in an attempt to keep the Dalek locked away as deep as possible. At one point, Rose and Adam are being escorted by an armed guard when they come face to face with the Dalek in a stairwell, and the armed guard starts trying to talk it down:
Tumblr media
Martin "but but but I locked you kids up because I loved you" Brenner, over here.
The first major hint that we start to see something is awry with the Dalek is it and Rose making eye contact, and Rose leaving the interaction feeling like the Dalek saw her as more than just a target for extermination, and rather that "it knows [her]."
Then, after some more chasing and some more mass murder, the Dalek addresses the Doctor. It says that, now with no place to get orders from, it will follow "the Primary Order," or the "Dalek instinct to destroy" and conquer. The Doctor asks why, though. What's the point of doing that at this point when it's the only Dalek left? The Dalek can't answer that and just asks what it should do, wherein we get this impeccable line that aired on public television in the year 2005:
Tumblr media
He rips into the Dalek again, really showing his anger as he screams, "Why don't you just die!?" at which point the Dalek responds with, "You would make a good Dalek" before ceasing communication. Mic drop of the goddamn century!!! That scene still drives me absolutely batshit. Anyway.
Rose and Adam are rushing to try and escape the vault portion of the bunker, but they're running out of time. Adam makes it through the final door as it's shutting, but Rose doesn't and is now trapped with the Dalek. Rose talks to the Doctor over her cellphone, telling him that it wasn't his fault and she wouldn't have missed any of this for the world. The Dalek fires its laser, the call drops, and the Doctor reluctantly accepts that she's dead.
However, unbeknownst to him, the Dalek didn't actually kill Rose.
They have a brief back-and-forth, and Rose questions the Dalek's hesitation to kill her.
Tumblr media
The Dalek speaks to the Doctor again, revealing that Rose is actually alive and uses her as leverage to get him to open the bulkhead and let the two of them out. Rose pleads with the Doctor to not open the door, but the Dalek uses the Doctor's emotions against him, saying, "What use are emotions, if you will not save the woman you love?"
Rose and the Dalek take an elevator up to where the Doctor and van Statten & co. are hanging out, with the Dalek all the while continuing to act strangely.
Tumblr media
The Dalek approaches van Statten, threatening to kill him for torturing it, but Rose tells it not to do it, and it listens. She asks it what else it could want that doesn't involve killing, and the Dalek answers with "freedom." Vecna when...
Rose takes the Dalek ahead, closer to the surface. It blasts a hole in the roof, bringing in a ray of sunlight. Rose says she thought she'd never feel it again, at which point the Dalek asks what it feels like before opening its metal casing to expose the actual Dalek inside. It feels the sun on its skin and reaches out toward the light.
In this moment of vulnerability, the Doctor appears, having grabbed one of the alien-made guns that van Statten has in a feeble attempt to actually kill the Dalek. He yells at Rose to get out of the line of fire, but she refuses, even when he tries to justify it with the number of people the Dalek killed that day, or the fact that it was the Dalek race that created the downfall of the Time Lords. She urges the Doctor to pause and just look at what the Dalek is doing.
Tumblr media
Love a good TFS word.
The Dalek asks, "Why do we survive?" and the Doctor doesn't have an answer. When the Dalek once again says that it's the last of its kind, the Doctor explains that it no longer is a Dalek. Having absorbed Rose's DNA for its regeneration, it's begun mutating into something new. Rose asks why that wouldn't be a good thing, but, as I explained earlier, it's because Daleks view themselves as superior, so if they're no longer a Dalek, then they're not worth living.
The Dalek is experiencing human thoughts and emotions, ones that it can't, nor wants, to comprehend, and it asks Rose to order it to die, saying that "This is not life. This is sickness. I shall not be like you!" With some more pushing, Rose finally relents, quietly saying, "Do it."
Tumblr media
Guy who says he's not gonna go as in-depth before proceeding to do so anyway. But trust me, I could say a lot more about this episode, I just wanna keep this brief and explore this one concept without the plethora of off-topic potential references.
I hope you can see some of the bones of what I'm getting at in how this could potentially be applied as inspiration for ST5, but let's get into some of my thoughts.
1) Paralleling the Doctor and the Dalek
This is something I've talked about in a lot of my other DW posts so I won't rehash it too much, but it's incredibly telling to me that we, once again, get this emphasis on muddying the waters between "good guy" and "bad guy."
Through the season, we've seen the Doctor grieving his people, constantly saying he's the last Time Lord in the universe and being generally depressed about it. We're very frequently reminded of how sad he is about it, and we're meant to be sad about it, too. More often than not, it's meant as a way to show a deeper bond between him and his companion whenever he shares that information.
Then, we meet this Dalek who is also the last of its kind in the universe, and who is also suddenly made to grieve the loss of its people. From the get-go, it's framed as a sympathetic creature begging for help as it's tortured, and only once the Doctor's bias is brought to light do we get any sort of inkling of an opposing stance.
Then, almost right away, we see their roles essentially swapped. Sure, the Dalek is a formidable opponent with an innate desire to kill everything it sees and perhaps maybe should be eliminated for the sake of the greater good. However, the Dalek is weak and vulnerable, with no way to defend itself, and the Doctor does the objectively shitty thing and tries to kill it while it's cornered. The entire episode has a bad ick about it. Even if the Doctor is technically justified, you still feel bad watching him take advantage of a situation to harm a defenseless creature.
The Dalek says it itself: the Doctor would make a good Dalek, allowing his hatred to drive him to make some morally fucked up decisions. He encourages his fear and rage to guide his hand, and it's not until he has an outside perspective - specifically from someone he cares about the opinion of immensely - that he backs down. If and when we get a similar scenario with Will and someone else having to talk him down... I'm seated.
In the end, it's hard to have sympathy for the Doctor without also extending that to the Dalek.
It very much makes me think of the larger fandom's perspective on Henry in ST, and how they'll dish out heaps of sympathy and empathy for the other characters, and even encourage them to do shitty things for the sake of "revenge" or "taking what they deserve," but then turn around and look at Henry's objectively worse situation and claim that he doesn't deserve that same courtesy simply because of a slightly less appealing past.
To specifically tie it to comparing the Doctor and the Dalek, I'm looking at how we're meant to compare Henry and Will to one another. We see two sensitive boys who come from imperfect households with a desire to be loved and accepted for who they are. We see them go through hardships beyond our imaginations and, the key here, is how their situations during and thereafter are different.
We see the perspective of the Doctor first, and we feel bad for him! When he attacks the Dalek, it feels justified given the history between their races. In ST, we see the perspective of Will first, learning everything he's been through, and thus when he says "we have to kill [Vecna]," it makes sense! We've been led to believe that everything that's happened to Will has been enabled by this one guy, so of course it's justified to want to put a stop to him, and we cheer on the other characters when they come to Will's aid.
But then we get the perspective of the Dalek. We see it admit that it's in pain, that it's sad, that it yearns for freedom and an end to its torture. In ST, we learn more about Vecna, about his (alleged) past, and the trials he's been through to shape him into who he is today, and his desire to make things better. It, then, also makes sense for these characters to react the way they do, even if it's not ideal, and even if their methods and motives aren't the most morally clean.
(I'd also be remiss if I didn't at least briefly tap in on the whole "perspective" thing with what James is discussing in his upcoming big thesis post about TFS. Definitely keep an eye out for it, because it's a super interesting exploration of perspective and how that paints certain behaviors/scenes in different lights than we may have initially been led to believe.)
When I first watched ST4, I wasn't in the fandom at all. I was entirely unaware of the vitriol being slung at Vecna and Henry. I watched him do all these inexcusable things, but then... we have NINA Henry explain what (allegedly) happened and why he is where he is, and I thought... oh.
We're told that this guy had a good reason for doing everything he did. Even if everything he's done is reprehensible, I still sat there thinking "wow, he didn't deserve any of that, everything could have been avoided if he was just treated with decency."
With the Dalek, even after we see what it's done, we're meant to feel bad for it. Should it be forgiven? Perhaps not, but it was just doing the only thing it knew how to do after being put in a situation by someone else (van Statten) that allowed it to do the damage that it did, much like Brenner essentially enabling the creation of Vecna by cornering a child into the lab and forcing his hand.
All in all, it really pushes you to accept that someone who is "good" can do bad things because they think it's what should be done, and someone who is "bad" can be offered a chance to change and become better, and it doesn't even have to be detraction if they refuse that help. And, ultimately, I wouldn't be surprised if Vecna is offered help, but refuses it because it's too late. Not because he's being petulant and stubborn, but because there's genuinely no point, much like with the Dalek (even if the Dalek is being more petulant and stubborn than anything).
2) Vecna and the Daleks
By no means do I want it to come off like I'm directly correlating Vecna to the Daleks. There's too many key differences, particularly in what they are, for me to do that with a straight face.
I already explained that Daleks are born and evolved to hate. That's the only emotion they feel, because anything else would give them doubt in their Primary Order. Meanwhile, Vecna very much is a person. Even if he's not fully human, there's a human core there that allows him to hesitate and feel something other than disdain for humanity (I will always and forever stare at the way he kept El alive. Sir, I know you're not that cocky. Just kill her. Unless she....... means something to you......?).
Throughout ST, everything that comes out of the UD is distinctly nonhuman. I remember very early on in ST4 thinking it was weird that they made something from the UD so close to human. So, even if we're led into the story believing that Vecna is something purely monstrous, by the end we're shown that he is, in fact, still a human and always has been a human.
It's similar, if not slightly inverted, to what happens with the Dalek in this episode: We open on this strange alien creature and learn it was the reason for the downfall of the Time Lords, but by the end, it's been infused with enough human DNA that it becomes even harder to treat it with cruelty.
And I know I said I wasn't going to get into the deeper lore of the Daleks, but I have to just mention one of the myths of their creation from the short story "We are the Daleks!" published in 1973:
Tumblr media
So like... um... anyway... just chew on that a little bit, I guess!!
As a final note for this thought, I do also find it interesting that even their motives could be considered similar. The Daleks kill everything that isn't a Dalek. And, yes, it is because of hatred, but it's also specifically about guaranteeing their own survival and making the universe fit for them. Not too far off from that, we have Vecna wanting to reshape the world into what he wants it to be so that he can exist freely. It's not exactly one-to-one, especially given that Vecna's motives are more of a commentary on the flaws of society while the Daleks are committing a "racial cleansing" (the Doctor's words, not mine), but I'd be remiss to not at least touch on it.
3) Objective Perspective
Rose gives us a very stark show of what bias can do in this episode. She showed sympathy before she knew anything about the Dalek, and while she does become frightened and tries to flee from it, by the end of the episode she's managed to either fight against or accept her fear and continue to try and help the Dalek and show it kindness.
It reminds me a lot of what we see with D'art in ST2, to the point that Rose's experience is almost beat for beat what happens with Dustin:
Finding the demoslug and growing fond of it because he doesn't know what it is.
Becoming frightened when he learns it's a "baby demogorgon" and tries to trap it.
Learning that he can have a connection and cooperate with it even if he's still scared.
Even Will manages to fight against his fear, understanding that D'art is just in a vulnerable position and needs help more than anything.
On top of Rose's demeanor with the Dalek, we also get to study how she reacts to the Doctor as the episode progresses. By and large, she's disgusted with the way the Doctor is behaving, calling him out multiple times and begging him to see the bigger picture. He's hurt, of course, but he can't continue to resort to violence under the guise of being afraid when this Dalek is no longer the same as the Daleks he hates. She doesn't even fully understand that until the very end, and still she can see that it's changing and it's been deserving of compassion this whole time.
The Doctor and the Dalek both hate each other and hate themselves, and Rose is the only one who can cut in, generally understanding both sides of the argument, to get everyone to back down. She's viewed both the Doctor and the Dalek with a clean, unbiased lens, which allows her to take in all the information she's given without any sort of judgement clouding her decisions.
Sure, her fear does take over a few times, but it's almost exclusively when her life is in immediate danger and she never takes it out directly on the Dalek. As soon as the Dalek refuses to kill her, she can wrangle herself into at least trying to approach things calmly and objectively and attempt to talk the Dalek down rather than resorting to brute force.
It makes me wonder just how, exactly, this is going to go down for Vecna. We've been given a lot of information thus far, but everyone has a different set of pieces without a way to combine them correctly just yet, and there's so many personal stakes involved that it becomes hard to parse out what's really an objective reading.
Will has been personally affected by the UD and the MF, which also affected his immediate family and friends.
El lived in the lab for her whole life and knew Henry personally, and potentially was the catalyst for finally creating Vecna.
Brenner has a desire to make himself look good as he works for his own selfish gains, and puts others in harm's way to get there.
Multiple people have had their lives directly altered by something Vecna did.
Vecna himself has a mess of wrongs against him that he's desperate to "fix."
etc. etc...
It's really just a whole big mess, and it's going to take a lot of work for someone to break out of the personal feelings involved in order to get everyone on all sides to step back and do some self-reflecting.
It's interesting to me that "Dalek" is not only a lesson in sympathy for others, but a lesson in sympathy for oneself. It's a large part of the Doctor's arc in this first season, and sympathy in general has been a huge part of ST throughout the whole show (which I know I've talked about endlessly irt these comparisons to DW), and it's a sentiment becoming increasingly pushed on our "villain" characters.
Like how the Doctor is "brought down" to the Dalek's level of cruelty and the Dalek is "brought up" to the Doctor's level of deserving sympathy, our "villain" characters in ST are being brought up to the protagonists' level of deserving sympathy, and our protagonists...? Well, we've already been blessed with loads of imperfect "good" characters in this show thus far, so I will not be surprised when that gets taken to the extreme.
It's already in line with El's monster vs superhero internal debate: a good character can do something morally reprehensible, with or without "proper" motive, and they will still be deserving of compassion.
In conclusion, while obviously I don't think it'll be a one-to-one, I do think that this DW episode offers an interesting route for Vecna's arc to take, specifically in regard to his demise. While a character such as Henry or Edward, who were dragged into this situation against their will, might be deserving of forgiveness/clearing their names and may still be able to be "saved," in whatever form that may be, someone like Vecna might simply be too far gone. There's no going back at this point, and it just has to be accepted.
I was talking to James about this, and I agree when he said it wouldn't be surprising if Vecna was offered help, he earnestly thanked them for it, but then had to refuse it anyway. I wouldn't be shocked if El wants to help him so badly but ultimately has to accept that sometimes things can't be undone, and they simply have to run their course, even if it has an unsatisfactory outcome. Especially if that outcome was one that could have been avoided had they gotten to the problem sooner. That is the tragedy.
The Dalek is a bit more complicated than that, obviously, given what it is as a species and its refusal for help being because it sees no point in existing now that it's "contaminated," but I think you can pick up what I'm putting down. The Dalek could have accepted the help and could have striven to change like Rose thought it could, but it simply wasn't in the cards and would have caused more pain than not.
The Daleks come up again in future episodes, which I might talk about someday, but I felt like this one was a good exploration of what you can do with an established villain and flip the narrative until they're almost entirely sympathetic while our "good guy" seems ridiculous for behaving the way he does. It is not a stretch to apply that sentiment to ST, especially because we have even more of a foundation for compassion toward our "villains" in that show than the Dalek got in this episode.
I could talk a lot more about this episode, too. There's so many trains of thought that this inspired, but, again, I want to just talk about this topic for now, so all the weird "why is this so ST" bits can stay in the vault (or you can go watch the episode yourself, which I highly recommend! It's a good one).
Overall, just knowing that DW was some level of inspiration for ST makes me excited to see what the Duffers took from that classic series and how they'll use it to inform their own final season, and specifically how they'll further the "no one is special/better/worse" message they have going on. We'll see!

SHIPPING INFO. Answer the following for your muse(s) so people know how shipping works on your blog.
Tumblr media
What’s your OTP for your Muse(s)?
Geto/Gojo (current brainrot) but tbh i have a lot frfr
What are you willing to RP when it comes to shipping?
Where shipping is concerned, I'm generally rather down to explore different ideas/plots. With the exception of: infidelity, pregnancy (breeding kinks are fine just not actual carrying of children), constant relationship angst with no reprieve and break ups.
I struggle heavily with Bipolar 2 + Cluster B comorbidity and certain themes make emotional regulation really difficult.
How large does the age gap have to be to make it uncomfortable?
Anything past 10 year age gap** And even then I'd personally prefer for the characters to be above 25 y/o if the age gap is going to be an important factor of the thread.
Are you selective when shipping?
Yes. I prefer to go off of chemistry between the characters portrayed + if I am able to have an healthy line of communication with my writing partner. It's really important to me for my writing partners to feel comfortable with discussing boundaries or if they've changed their mind/are no longer interested. Especially with the nature of what I write (Yaoshi etc)
Shipping, and by extension rping as a whole, is a collaborative experience. I would rather prioritise being able to have fun doing so.
How far do steamy moments have to go before they’re considered NSFW?
Anywhere between getting handsy to dry humping counts I think?? ^^;;
Who are other muses you ship your muse with?
I'm pretty flexible with that as long as our portrayals have chemistry together. I don't mind crackships, unlikely ships etc as well.
Does one have to ask to ship with you?
I am unfortunately pretty dense when it comes to picking up on other people's shipping interest 😭so please give me a sign. Like a "hey i think they'd be neat!" type of message is enough. Most of the time, I observe the threads until potential is made obvious before I approach to discuss bc I just...do be dropping balls left and right OTL.
How often do you like to ship?
Not as often as I'd like 💀
Are you multiship?
Yes. Verses are all kept separate unless planned otherwise.
Are you ship obsessed or ship more-or-less?
I think I'm a ship more-or-less in my own eyes? I love writing shippy stuff but honestly slice of life, comfort and goofs are what commonly appears here. Or...yknow degenerate crimes but dw about that.
What is your favorite ship in your current fandom?
Kafka/Blade, Kafka/Sunday, Wriothesley/Clorinde/Neuvillette, Candace/Dehya, Candace/Cyno, Cyno/Tighnari, Sampo/Natasha, Sampo/Gepard, Natasha/Serval, Xiao/Traveler, Wanderer/Layla, Wanderer/Traveler, many many more tbh
Finally, how does one ship with you?
Write with me! Send me stuff, tell me about your ideas and I'll do the same.

hello! i dont know if there is someone better to ask but youre one of the most prominent dw blogs i can think of: are there any episodes that stand out to you in their discussion or promotion of space colonization? especially using rhetoric of "its human nature to explore" or even religous backing.
if not no worries haha, im just writing a paper and i wanted to use a scifi example!
this is really awful cos you asked this last year and i suck and obviously your paper is already written and i'm so sorry. this ask made me think about how the topic as a whole is approached in the show/the extended universe and this is sort of a poorly done summation of those thoughts.
there's a lot in doctor who to work with in terms of human/humanoid/dominant species colonisation in space. key word work, because it is very much on the shoulders of the watcher/reader/listener to draw up a complex or accurate allegory in almost every case. rather than the "right to explore," i think often by nature of needing an easy conflict doctor who goes more for the "right to utilise resources no matter where they're found, even and especially luxury resources". an example all my followers are the most likely to have seen/remember is planet of the ood. obviously this is slavery, but the abduction of a slave labour force is often part of the colonisation of an inhabited place. it's an especially on the nose critique because the colonisers in this case were physically preventing communication and the reforming of the community they colonised to exploit, but this is done on a very simple level and not extrapolated or discussed in real world terms or with real world context.
the extended universe deals with the topic of colonisation in a more frequent and usually slightly less basic way. jamie mccrimmon is a character who even in the show was (pre-doctor) living under militant colonial (british) rule. this is explored more in depth in a couple of audios; it is genuinely rarely touched on in the show. in certain companion chronicles jamie's survival of british colonial rule is discussed directly (the glorious revolution) or alluded to with parallel space colonisation plots (stuff like the edge comes to mind). c'rizz is another character from the audios who the doctor met after his community was violently colonised and imprisoned but c'rizz has sort of a very strange and very particular thing going on so i'm not really sure how much there is in terms of a colonialism discussion with him; i'm sure you could find something but again the work to find commentary on it is put on the shoulders of the audience. also in the way of extended universe, the EDAs will (like the show!) often have sort of basic space colonisation as a plot point which is not very explored or discussed or looked into beyond that it's a familiar cut and dry situation for the doctor to walk into and be the good guy. they go for this often in the show and the books, they'll pull up a complex and violent social situation and then not delve into it as a social situation (or in this case an act of colonialism) in favour of delving into it only as a plot point, if that makes sense. however I did think dreamstone moon (EDA) actually had something to say about how late stage capitalism/commodification is both an arm and heart of colonialism. i have a (very short) post about that here.
ultimately, doctor who as a creation began in the early 1960s in britain. the universal reoccurring threat that has persisted over the subsequent sixty years within the fiction of the show (perpetrated by any and all villains) is that of the fascist, the authoritarian, the idea of a world-conquering absolute dictator. the (white) british collective consciousness, reeling from the second world war, could not picture any greater evil than the global surge of fascism in the late 30s-40s. colonisation, especially with britain's history as the perpetrators, is something that held visibly less evil in the minds of these british tv writers, and that is reflected in the writing more often than not, especially in classic who. often, colonialism in doctor who is a backdrop, a setting, and not something that is examined, especially not fully, in the episode's text. it betrays something about the show and the country it came from. it is a nasty fact of doctor who and the context it rose out of.
i know i'm too late to help you with that essay but this just made me think, and these are just my thoughts. i don't know. i guess more than any wealth of strong examples when you look at colonialism in doctor who you notice the general lack of sociopolitics, realism, and empathy in any portrayal of colonialism. to pull strong, more-than-surface-level anti-colonialist narratives out of doctor who, you have to do most of the work yourself. i do think this has to do with the show being synonymous with a country that was historically the biggest perpetrator of military colonialism in the world. i don't know. it's grimly interesting in a way that puts a sour taste in my mouth.

Soo i have a theory and well i been overthinking this but what if mattel was planning 2 or 3 more movie's and this is my theory if ever thos was supposed to happen
First movie well tbh a crossover (this will be 1st soo in total i only think of 2 possible movie before the ever after high we got cancelled) i think this was make soo raven queen and apple white will realize they don't actually need to follow there destiny because well ye they won't poof like how the headmaster discuss and uhmm btw I'm basing this to the lost movie not the book cause i feel like the book and the movie are somehow different soo that's my theory and it's also mention that the evil queen will get to monters high which actually excite me and just make me more mad and well upset to the cancellation of that movie
Second movie that i think will possibly happen when ever after high somehow get along with disney or decided to bring back ever after high or reboot it is that uhmm what if there was a movie just dedicated to a couple and in my theory it will be dappling/dapple(darling and apple) or it will be dexven(dexter and raven) ye i know what your saying ofc there will be about dexter and raven but hey hear me out well read my uhmm post but my reasoning to this is that its's prettyobvious that dexven is mattel favourite ship especially in the books and stuff but hey dexter and raven had there own book and had not just 1 but 2 i think webisodes just about them!! Ok ok no hate to dexpid shippers but uhmm i think that cupid and dexter isn't going to be that successful and tbh wait just hear me out soo ye back to the movie (dw well get to dappling later just keep scrolling if you want to read dappling already) soo i think that this movie will be all abou dexven (if not about dappling) because well they make a book just about them soo why not a movie in my conclusion that the movie will be all about how dexter find out about cupid crushing on him or cupid confess to him and then he kinda feel bad so he talk to Cupid or they go on a date and well dexter kiss cupid in the cheeks and raven saw it and she just ran away cupid and dexter notices it and try to explain to raven but well they didn't catch up because raven teleported to her and apple dorm and suddenly a curse were cast at ever after high or the charming castle and the three sibling with apple and briar to fix it but one of the most important can only be obtain by dark magic in the evil queen castle so apple and darling said that of their going to the evil queen castle then they should bring Raven with them Dexter have mix emotion to this but briar, and daring agreed so dexter just agree because he can't let the others know what happend then they go on to find the cure then darling and apple have a moment just about them (i wilm not going to gave all the details but they talk about the kiss and they're destiny) and raven got curse and dexter was the one who supposed to save her and darling and apple relationships will be explained. Thats all.
Thirdly a movie all about apple white and raven queen background and it will be explained why apple really want to follow her destiny and raven about how she wanted to be nice maybe traumas
Thats just a theory but tbh i see it happening btw comment if i should just made an au about the 2nd
That's all thank you for reading!!!

Im really sorry if this is blunt, but are you taking a break from the atla fandom? Totally understand if you are, btw (dw, I'm really tired rn too)
Yep, a break from the fandom to find out my joy in the show again. I did not have a good time interacting with the larger fandom. I don't agree with a lot of fanon surrounding the show. The discourse is tired and honestly stupid 90% of the time. Everything is about ships, ships, and more ships. I tried to draw my boundaries and regulate my experience but I feel like a majority don't give a shit about my boundaries and squicks.
If I try to to criticize the OG, or point out something wrong with it, people just spin it as some "totally intentional commentary guys the creators are GENIUS". I'm mostly on the zukka side, but it feels like......the fandom worships big creators a lot and take their word as law. And if you go against it or have a different interpretation, it gets completely sunk or ignored. I'm not expecting people to agree but like at least try to entertain something new (like, I don't think Azula needs a redemption arc, I don't think Sokka has any issues with Hakoda, I think Sokka remains childless out of choice and was happy when he died and there's literally nothing in actual canon indicating otherwise- he died younger than the rest, so what? I don't care for the excessive focus on Zuko EVERYWHERE, or the girlboss-ification of literally every female character and ignores their wrongs *cough* Azula and Mai *cough*. I don't like how fanon reduces Toph to "funny strong girl" and never discusses anything else, or how everyone ignores Aang's grief and Katara's genuine mistakes and asshole moments. I have a lot of problems with just how....everything is discussed).
This was not intentional and I don't blame anyone for this but I just felt.....isolated. It didn't feel like anyone was willing to talk about anything new. It keeps circling back to the same thing everyone's already talked about a million times. Which is fine! The show's 2-decades old and it is very direct, the subtext is basically text. But the fandom is set in its ways and thoughts over these two decades and atp it just feels like people patting each other on the back for having the same takes as each other. I don't get the chance to talk about my own stuff or explore anything new, I constantly felt like I was getting sunk under everyone else's interpretations, and there was this invisible pressure to create fanon a very specific way.
Idk, it just felt boring after a while. So, I'm taking a break for a few months, maybe a year. I'll probably upload and work on my fic but I'm not going to interact with fandom at large. I have a couple of friends, but that's all it'll be.

This is the first time I genuinely believe that I have ADHD. Before this I kind of thought I could maybe have it but now I feel pretty sure. Like, I've been reading about it for ages (papers and stuff, not tiktok dw lol) and wayy too many things line up for it to be a coincidence y'know?
The only issue is that I don't really know what to do now. The waiting list for a diagnosis is super long, and I'm not sure if I really need it? I think I'll be fine without meds (does that mean I'm faking?), it's mainly accommodations and stuff I'm worried about. I was just wondering if there was a 'next step' I'm supposed to be taking.
Sent May 15, 2023
There isn't really an official next step. What you do depends on what you need.
Typically, you can't get accommodations without an official diagnosis, but I think there are some things you can do without that. The main problem will be that you wouldn't have any legal means to support your claim if your employer or school decided not to give you the accommodations you request.
You may be able to access an ADHD Coach without a diagnosis, and that can be really useful since their job is to help you develop systems and mechanisms so you can manage your symptoms better. Be careful when selecting a coach, though; it's not a regulated profession, so literally anyone can call themselves a coach. (I could, even, but I don't because I've never done any training specific to life coaching or ADHD coaching.) I would recommend looking for someone who has done training through IACT https://www.iactcenter.com/ because it's specific to ADHD and the person who developed the program really knows her stuff (and has ADHD).
For accommodations, I'd recommend figuring out exactly what you might require, and then thinking about how that could be logically applied without requiring official accommodations.
For example, if you have trouble meeting deadlines, flexibility would be an accommodation. But if you don't qualify for that, what are some things you can do to deal with that? Maybe setting interim deadlines for various steps so that your final step is earlier than the actual deadline could help. Maybe someone who's better at this stuff could remind you of deadlines on a regular basis.
Another example: If you don't always remember things you need to do based on a meeting, you might take notes during the meeting and then send an e-mail to your supervisor afterwards that summarizes your notes and requests clarification, so they can tell you if you missed anything. (Bonus: this can also help with any communication issues that may be happening, because it creates documentation to show that you're doing your best/not actually the one to blame.)
One more: Almost anything can be a fidget toy, so if you need to be able to fidget, do your best to use something that will give you the sensory input you need without bothering other people. Lots of things can do what you need without being disruptive, such as crochet or knitting during meetings or movies. If, on the other hand, you need to be shielded from sensory input, you can ask about using headphones or airpods to listen to music to help you focus in an open office environment, you can keep a cardigan in your desk in case the air conditioning is too strong, etc.
The idea is that you would go to your instructor or manager and say that you've noticed that X and Y is difficult for you, and you were wondering if you could start doing A or B so you can make sure you're doing the best job you can. "I'm having trouble following staff meetings, and I've noticed that if I knit during movies I can focus really well. Would it be a problem for me to bring my knitting to staff meetings?" "I know sometimes I forget what we've agreed on. I just wanted to let you know that I'm going to take notes when we're discussing things, and I wanted to ask if I can send you an e-mail afterwards to check that I didn't miss anything?" "Our office is really busy, and I have trouble focusing on my work when people are talking near my desk. I'd like to listen to music on headphones when I'm trying to focus, especially when I'm on a tight deadline. Would that be okay?"
I hope this is somewhat helpful for you. Followers, do you have any other thoughts on this?

coming off another anon, i feel like I can’t really blame some of the cc’s seeing the dsmp lore as an “era” in their streaming career? if that makes sense, because i don’t really see it much as them not caring for the story they once really did care about and create but more so personal feelings tied into it, not to bring up the horrors of what’s happened with wlbr & such. i guess more so in specific to tmyinnit and how he might view the dsmp now… which i have been watching more of his recent content and he doesn’t absolutely detest the dsmp at all actually i feel like his recent video abt it showcased that? it was apparent to me at least that he really cared for that server and his character so much i mean i remember him getting so into it and even as far as wanting to stream and discuss why cdrm apologists were delusional 💀 i think him once having a close relationship to wlbr n having so much lore closely tied to his character might make him compartmentalize and see his dsmp era a little differently, which i can’t really blame him. hope this isnt too weird to discuss in ur asks it probably is.. my bad.. but i understand y’all’s thought processes on it and such and that one anon u answered a bit ago made me think about it.
no i like talking abt this stuff dw 🙂‍↕️ and i completely agree honestly. i know tmy really does care for the dsmp and his character, and i can’t fault him for having a different pov on it all with the stress he was put under. the dsmp was most of the ccs first time ever engaging in roleplaying/storytelling and the storytelling medium itself was super new as well, it probably has a lot of sentimental value to them bc of that. my friends and i talk abt how overlapped the dsmp characters are with the actual ccs despite the focus on really separating the two, like whenever i rewatch lore streams i get rlly nostalgic for frlboys streams or jackbox nights 😭 dsmp is a really interesting case
