stacy is sooo interesting because she's in love with house but knows that they will never ever be able to have a healthy, stable, sane relationship because they're too similar so. she finds house-lite instead and marries him and. essentially moves on with her life! and is successful in this because she's a moderately well-adjusted person!
wilson, in contrast, never manages to escape the inevitable, in spite of his best efforts to find a house-lite of his very own, because he's an absolute fucking freak and ends up glued to house to the bitter. bitter end

lets talk abt house and empathy. the general perception of house is that he's hypoempathetic and generally doesn't care about people. however i would argue very distinctly that he cares TOO much and feels TOO MUCH empathy!!
this is my second post in a row talking abt john house but THINK abt his childhood! they moved around constantly, so he likely never got a chance to make friends as a kid. his dad abused him and his mom let it happen. for a kid who cared so much about the people around him, that would kill him!!!! it's highly likely that he initially developed his "antisocial tendencies" as a protective mechanism so that people couldn't hurt him by leaving or by actually hurting him.
on top of that, he says that he became a doctor essentially because he saw a guy who was treated horribly and yet people still needed him when it came to medicine. it makes a lot of sense to me that a young greg house would feel deeply for that man AND see himself in him. he also talks about how the appeal of his job is solving puzzles - but there are lots of other jobs where that would work!!! he could have become a detective (acab but w/e), a computer scientist, etc etc. instead he chose a career where he SAVES people.
house doesn't talk to patients because he doesn't want them to become real to him, because then he'll care too much. a puzzle is a puzzle and a puzzle doesnt need feelings or morality, but when he has to come face to face with a patient, it becomes a situation where he can start to feel for them and care about them. this is commented on multiple times in the show but notably in the episode with the doctor in antarctica, who he cares very deeply about by the end.
i also firmly believe that house is autistic, like its nondebatable to me, and i think that he doesn't instinctively know how to read social cues, which is why he's so obsessed with patterns. he's memorized what emotions look like on other people, and he's memorized the typical behaviors of the people around him (e.g. wilson's ties, stacy's cross) and that's how he can read their emotions. if he doesn't connect to a patient he can't necessarily feel their emotions as strongly, he has no chance to learn their reactions!!

I giggled at this thought so have it as well
Sagau + legacy who tends to hijack Childe at his whims = playable abyss moth :D
oh goodness i was not in a good mood but this made me feel much better thank you
it's a glitch, it has to be a glitch, there's no other explanation for it! you've scoured the internet, watched countless videos, even uninstalled and reinstalled the game multiple times- but nothing could explain why, out of all characters, Foul Legacy had spontaneously become playable and was currently sitting in your party, exactly where your Childe should be. to his credit, he was INCREDIBLY strong, easily sweeping any bosses and enemies you met along the way, but the fact remains that he's not a playable character in the first place! you're worried that your game is being hacked in some way, but when nothing else happens for a few days, well... you can't deny that it was kind of fun to have a character no one else had, and you've always been fond of Childe's Foul Legacy form- you refuse to admit to spending at least half an hour just watching him on screen gushing about how cute he was (he even has his own idle animations!!)
on his end, in the digital world of Teyvat, Foul Legacy is absolutely thrilled that you haven't reacted too badly to his presence- he feared you would hate him for occasionally using Childe's place for himself- he always gives it back afterwards, he promises! Legacy works hard to destroy any enemies in your path, silently trilling in happiness whenever you compliment him. since he's not much in the way of words, he curls up into a comfy Abyss moth ball if you ever put him in your teapot instead of simply standing there, perking up and fluttering his wings when you approach him. and as he promised, he ALWAYS gives Childe back his body at the end of the day- the Harbinger's a little confused and disoriented, but you always greet him enthusiastically when you log in the next day, so he's not really complaining

People who say ending the show with Jaehaera being queen is the perfect ending to House of the Dragon make me laugh. They say that ending the show with two traumatised white children is enough and while that is a nice sentiment in theory.
The reality of the matter is that House of the Dragon is a violently antiblack show. Misogynoir is baked into every step of that production, from the hair to the storylines to the fact that the Black women on the show rarely speak and lest we forget, they burnt a Black woman alive.
Erasing Daenaera to give us the traumatised little white children ending is a copout. Daenaera is also a traumatised child who lost everything as a result of the war that the Greens started. You could have the same ending with her as well, but people don't push for that and I wonder why.

Keith walking into the holding cell greeting all the regulars by name while Lance is sobbing lamenting that his life is over and his future is ruined (they were like. Trespassing or some shit he’s going to be fine)
lance: (actively dry heaving in the corner, on the verge of a panic attack as he imagines having a permanent record)(actually what does a permanent record even look like?)(omg is he going to have to go to COURT? like in JUDGE JUDY?)
keith: remy, this is lance. lance, this is remy, she’s my favorite alcoholic :)

Like everyone else I am rightfully obsessed with Shauna and Jackie's shared wardrobe, but can we talk for a second also about the very specific jealousy sharing clothes comes with? This experience might not be as universal as I think it is, but: The babyish instinct to want to grab it back and say "mine!" and all the self-conscious thoughts of it looks better on her than it looks on me. Feeling protective over your clothes ("I don't want her to borrow it, she'll mess it up!"), or feeling resentment when your clothes get compliments while someone else is wearing them (the instinct then to laugh awkwardly and deny credit, "thanks! it's actually hers.") And even larger scale! That strange push for competition when two girls show up wearing the same outfit. Who wore it better?
All this to say buried under the love stored in wearing the butterfly tops and sharing the flannels and saving the virginity dress there is also that distinctly meaner and pettier voice of a ghost in Shauna's ear saying "did you ask if you could borrow that?" saying "you're going to ruin it." saying "it looked better on me." saying "hey! that's mine!"
The brief and amazing moment in the pilot when Jackie is suggesting outfits to Shauna speaks to this too. Shauna's frustration at finding anything of her own that's suitable. Wear the red dress I gave you! It's such a sincere suggestion. But it's Jackie's old dress. It's Jackie's suggestion. Shauna knows when she puts it on the cruel voice in her head that sounds a lot like Jackie will remind her all night that it isn't really her dress, and Jackie wore it better anyway, and every compliment she gets will be politely redirected to Jackie. "Thanks. It was hers." (This sentiment echoes into infinity).
Then we have Jackie's funeral, and the ferocity with which Shauna insists Jackie keep her clothes. Sure, for the humanity and the dignity of it. But just as much, how could she bear to see Natalie or Akilah or Mari or Misty or anyone else walk around in Jackie's shoes? She didn't want to borrow Jackie's clothes. (I kind of doubt she wanted Jackie to borrow hers either). Nor did she want Jackie's whole hand-me-down life. But fuck if she was going to donate it to Goodwill for just anyone to take, and it wasn't like she was satisfied with her own.
I think of this The Haunting of Hill House post via @2008hondacivic and of Twin Peaks' Laura Palmer yelling "Don't ever wear my clothes!" at Donna. Don't ever become me! But also, there is so little left of me, and That's Mine! Give it back! I'm sure they wish they could.

all the while society conflates "being an adult" with "having a proper job" and "having money to make arbitrary Adult Purchases" disabled people who can't work - or can only work part time or can only do entry level baby jobs - will never be 'allowed' to be adults
you can say "being an adult is looking after yourself you don't have to have a job!!!" all you want but most people who say that will still assume anybody who doesn't either can't or won't 'look after themselves' actually. and every 'marker' of 'adulthood' that's observable and thus actually counts or whatever loops back around to... having a job and 'contributing' something

WAIT A MINUTE
I JUST REALIZED SOMETHING SAD
ok so i’m rewatching ‘echos of the past’ and king said that (while he was in his egg) he remembers “a deep roar” that was followed by a loud crash. but he was “too small to do anything”.
that loud crash was 100% papa titan collapsing into the boiling sea.
his first memory is the sound of his parent dying
