Ramsey could hear your sigh from across the room.

“What is it, kiddo?” From the slight reflection in his drawing tablet, his one eye could spot where you laid on his bed, scrolling on your phone while facing away with him.

“Nothing important.” You wanted to scroll away from the irritating reply, but something kept you staring at it with a foul expression. “Whenever I post about how it isn’t hard to just draw more black characters, there’s always someone in the replies going ‘oh, but it is hard though’!” You did a high, nasally voice of what you imagined some stranger on the internet with a bad opinion to sound like.

At first, Ramsey didn’t say anything at all. Did he even hear you? But eventually, you heard the sound of his chair turning around, causing you to look over your shoulder. Your absolute gerbil of a father sat there with the cockiest grin on his face, leaving you totally clueless as to what would come out of his mouth next.

“Stay still, I’ll prove ‘em wrong.”

Blink. “Whaddya mean?”

By the time those words had escaped your mouth, your dad had already turned back around and opened a blank canvas on his screen. “I’ll do like, a quick sketch. A five minute one or something. Then I’ll post it, because it’s not that hard and anyone who says it is is wrong and they deserve to know how wrong they are.”

Not the words you were expecting to hear. At the same time, though….you weren’t opposed to it.

“You’re saying you want to help me win an argument against someone I don’t know on the internet?”

His golden eye almost seemed to gleam with mischief at the notion. “Ain’t I such a cool dad?”

……Well, it’s not like you could say no to that. So instead, you sighed and tossed your phone onto a pillow, propping yourself up on your elbow and smiling at the man you called your father. “Sure, let’s go with that.”

Once you’d given him express approval, the scammer slash furry artist resumed his position of being hunched over his tablet all too eagerly. Despite his almost childish glee, the movements of his hand were still precise, almost effortlessly so. It was never something you really mentioned to him or anything, since he’d probably get all smug about it, but it was a skill you hoped you’d be able to hone one day, too.

It was a comfortable silence, at least, between Ramsey’s reminders of “no peeking!” as he covered the canvas with his other hand. Even if the anticipation was gnawing at you a little, you felt….relaxed. Fading evening light spilled through the gaps in the blinds, and you could faintly hear the sound of a fan running in the background. It was a quiet evening with no responsibilities, nothing to do. Just you and your weird dad.

Speaking of said weird guy….

“You done?”

“Yeah, almost.” His pen strokes were getting smaller than before, probably adding the minute details after blocking out the basic shapes at the beginning. “Just need to clean this up a bit aaaand….” With surprising dexterity, he flipped his pen in his hand to do some quick erasing. “Yeah! Looks good.”

With a quick mutter of “lemme see”, you scuttled over to your father’s desk to peek at the final product, so to speak. Now that you were standing right next to him, the Australian seemed almost sheepish.

Scratching the back of his neck with one hand, he would say, “I maaaybe stylized it a bit, so it isn’t a one to one, but I thought it would be cute!”

…..It was. It was cute.

As your eyes scanned over the rough sketch, you noticed all the little details that you hardly thought about when you looked at yourself, but Ramsey seemed to have recorded with surprising accuracy. Your facial features, body proportions, hairstyle, and overall form were all mostly blocked out with simple shapes, but even then, there was something about the way Ramsey used them that gave it so much personality. Your personality.

“This is how you see me?”

“Yeah.” His response was so quick that you doubt he even questioned it. It just came naturally to him. “It’s easy to draw you, mostly ‘cause I see you every day, but also ‘cause I love you. I mean, It’s beyond easy to draw what you love, you know?”

….That was beyond corny, even for him. That’s what you wanted to say out of your own embarrassment, but he was just so….casual about it that you didn’t wanna ruin the moment.

In your trance of trying to think of what to say next, you noticed something.

“I was smiling?”

Ramsey cocked a brow. Did he think you’d already known that? “Yeah. Why?” After a pause, his ratty features took on a more playful expression, and he scooched over to give you a light bump with your elbow. “Whaaat, is it so surprising that you’d be havin’ fun with your old man?”

Laughter rose up from your chest like bubbles, making it hard to speak while you retaliated with a little shove of your own. “Shut up, I’d just spaced out! Quit being a drama queen!”

“What’s wrong with men being queens, eh? Aren’t I allowed to express myself?”

Internet argument aside, you definitely feel like you won today.

Hi, do you mind if I rant a little? Because I found one of your posts while browsing the Loki tag and I’ve since found several more. Then I found your WandaVision one and it reminded me all over again how annoyed that finale made me. I’m sorry, I know it’s been a couple years since it came out, but MY DAYS! What were they thinking in the writers room!? It could’ve all been resolved if Wanda didn’t know what she was doing and sincerely apologised after for it, but… SHE KNEW!? The whole time! And then felt justified for it! “They won’t know what you sacrificed” still being one of the worst lines to come from Marvel. What happened to Wanda crying her eyes out in Lagos because she caused casualties? What happened to Wanda having a panic attack in AOU because she realised what she’d accidentally caused to happen? I had my own opinions about her before, but now I can’t stand her. It would be alright if Marvel went down the villain route of Wanda grieving so much she can no longer care to do good, but they’re still trying to act like she’s a good person after this, as if they haven’t made all her casualties only POC, as if she had a right to enslave an entire town and gaslight her husband and kids. I’m sorry, I’ve gone on for longer than I meant to about something you’re probably not even bothered about anymore. I don’t even know if I’m making sense

I remember that i made that post after months (weeks?) of frustration about seeing people praising the ground that Wanda walks on when all I could see when I looked at her is one of the most selfish people in the entirety of MCU. Her character was so good until WandaVision and MoM. She and Loki were my favorite characters.

EXACTLY. There is a massive difference between "i did this without meaning to, I am so sorry" vs "I know I am actively hurting these people and I DO NOT CARE" she comes across as so cold and so selfish because she doesn't. Wanda in WandaVision doesn't care about other people, just what she wants. I just can't help but think about the beginning of her arc vs the end and just feel massive disappointment. And I think it wouldn't be as annoying if it wasn't framed like she was a hero. If they intentionally took her on a dark path and let her be evil, it would have been fine and I would have enjoyed it because I would have been in awe of the clever writing.

But she's not. Wanda is not a hero in WandaVision for holding an entire town captive. she's not a hero for being aware of what she was doing and then doing it anyway. Like I guess the problem with WandaVision is that the finale and the rest of the series seem to disagree with each other, if that makes sense?

Wanda knows what she's doing in every episode until the end, where she's suddenly more sympathetic because she's not trying to hurt people?

Okay so this is the last I’m going to say on my opinion on this recent discourse for now (probably) but for people who don’t know what’s happening (because I certainly didn’t and thought someone was shitting on x reader as a whole instead of what actually happened): Someone on Tumblr made a post complaining about certain x reader fics, and essentially pissing on reader insert that are apparently too specific to enjoy (by this they meant readers with a personality and/or background etc.) Specifically what they said was along the lines of: if a reader insert is too specific and not relatable, it is no longer an x reader. Because apparently the moment a character differs in some way from you, you can no longer enjoy the story and it has no more merit. 🙄 Never mind the fact that it is impossible to create a reader that encompasses the entire human population. Kind of a fucking tall order if you ask me, or literally any other x reader fic writer, but they clearly didn’t, so here we are. :///

They also claimed that writing more fleshed out readers with backstories and personalities is essentially tricking people into reading canon x OC fics (personally I did not like their tone with that because canon x OC already gets a lot of shit from other parts of fandom but that might just be me) and that more ambiguous/vague (aka personality-less blobs) readers are more popular and therefore implying they are inherently better. Nothing wrong with those who read and write these types of reader characters, but to imply that it is better is just… wrong lol. That person also pointed out that these types of readers are more present in short form content, which imo is the actual reason these posts do better on Tumblr because this app just favours shorter form stand-alone works. They completely ignore that AO3 has a lot more long form reader fics, many of which are very popular, and that readers in these longer stories need a personality and backstory and character arc, otherwise it’s just not going to work.

They also beg people to tag and warn their content properly (aka if the reader is POC coded or white coded, whether or not reader is fem or gender neutral etc) - which, okay, fair enough. I myself am not white so I get that particular frustration, but it’s incredibly hypocritical of them when this person misused the tags themself by obnoxiously tagging a shitload of fandoms and characters x reader tags to boost their unwarranted criticism. They clearly just wanted attention (which they certainly fucking got because they got so much backlash that they backtracked, removed the x reader tags and then edited their post a bunch of times and I don’t buy that they feel sorry because they still seem super defensive), it was never about curating their own experience, let’s be real 🙄

I also saw a point they made about fics being subject to criticism because it’s available to the public and being consumed by readers etc. etc. I’ve already talked a bunch about this and why that take is utter shit so I’m not doing it again. And then later they turn around in one of their addendums to the post and say that they don’t like entitled readers, which, ha. Yeah, okay. Sure, the entitled reader doesn’t like entitled readers. I actually laughed at that one.

Even though I myself didn’t see the post at first or witness the fallout in the first few hours, it’s still really disheartening to see really dumb discourse like this because if OP took one minute to utilise utilise the very important organ between their ears and employ something called ‘empathy’ to see from a writers perspective, we wouldn’t be here. But again, they didn’t, and so here we are.

In short: there is a video of the q&a where the female producer gets Casey pronouns wrong when talking about them. It's totally ok to point this out and give respect that Casey deserves BUT who was given the main blame? Taylor obviously, despite him also using the right pronouns during the panel, is guilty of not correcting the woman in front of everyone so he's bad again.

But this time we're not talking about that handful of idiot Nick fans, we're talking about the rwrb fandom that says they love him so much but once again for the umpteenth time they threw him under the bus without thinking twice even though he had no fault. And it will be the third time that the same fandom has exaggerated something against him, subsequently causing serious problems ( like racism and homophobia and doxxing which took place in december where everyone then washed their hands of it pretending nothing happened and they did nothing wrong)

And I'm so tired of reading that we just have to ignore that social because that social is the most active and followed and we know Taylor a few days ago saw stuff and posted and today Casey saw and posted a story. That social causes damage and everything they bring there is seen and affects all of them. So no it's not enough to ignore and put our hands over our eyes and just talk about how beautiful the sky is and I'm so tired and sad and heartbroken because every day even unconsciously they make it more and more evident that there isn't the same affection and respect for both, it's not true, one will always be seen with a critical eye "yes you are beautiful, perfect, so sexy, wow how beautiful these photos BUT you are a bit problematic, BUT you should be better than that, BUT you should learn better, oh disappointed but not surprised" and it is obviously always the poc man who has to be better who has to do better even when he does absolutely nothing wrong.

And this comes from the people who say they follow him and love him. It's no longer possible, that man has been attacked every single day for months, now he must also fall into the transphobic category because he didn't correct another person in front of everyone even though HE had used the right pronouns. But do we realize that this shit fucks up your mental health in the long run? But why doesn't anyone realize how serious the situation is? I cannot take it anymore and I feel like I'm screaming into the void and witnessing the moment when everything will get worse and fall apart and then we will be here sad because it didn't have to go that way for him

Okay um, here we go. This is a monster of response to write but here I am.

I’m gonna start by saying I am not a direct witness of any of this. I didn’t know about the misgendering issue during the Q&A, I didn’t really notice it when I watched the Q&A myself yesterday. I’m not on twitter and I don’t follow or look at Taylor or Nick’s tags. All insults I seen regarding the boys are either from assholes trying to bother me or from people who want to talk about the phenomena, both in my inbox.

Regarding misgendering Casey:

Firstly I’m gonna state the obvious and say of course it’s a bad thing to misgender someone. Don’t do that

However I will also say this.

In regards to the extent of reaction: it’s not always done in malice. And in this case, I think it’s a genuine slip up, which happens. I had to consciously remind myself to deliberately use the right pronouns after my friend came out to me as non-binary. I had to correct my friend using the wrong pronouns when talking about our mutual non-binary student. It’s not ideal, but it happens. It’s not mean, it’s just careless. And please note that I’m not saying it’s ok to misgender someone, no it’s absolutely not but I also don’t think this case calls for a big reaction.  If someone maliciously, deliberately, publicly and repeatedly misgenders someone, that’s problematic, that should be called out by the masses to this extent. This, we should acknowledge, make a note, and move on. I think there’s some cases where the reaction to certain issues are massively disproportional, this is one of them.

In regards to Taylor not correcting Sarah and being targeted for it: Firstly, Taylor didn’t misgender them, Sarah did. Taylor used the right pronouns. In fact when they hung out in New York last August, Taylor used the right pronouns on his Instagram story. Secondly, he might not have picked that up. Thirdly, even if he did, it’s awkward to suddenly cut off a monologue, let alone one from friend or not, is someone on a higher level than you, to correct a mistake that doesn’t directly affect comprehensive. Fourthly, bystanders are encouraged to step into situations, but they’re certainly not obligated to. So placing the blame or putting so much blame on Taylor is ridiculous and unfair.

In regards to Casey’s Instagram story: I understand where the connection comes from but honestly… I think there’s also a possibility that that’s just a post that Casey saw and wanted to share without reference to this issue. They don’t have Twitter, and it’s been several days since the screening. Truthfully, everyone involved seems really friendly with each other, and how this very project is advocating for LGBT rights, I don’t really believe that if they were aware of the misgendering, they wouldn’t apologize to Casey.

So replying to the “You don’t have to post it…” anon, I agree that putting any blame on Taylor is kind of ridiculous in this case, just like what happened in December. I think there’s a portion of “fans” that are fucking around with this and genuinely hurting him, but there might also be a portion of people who have a problematic/complicated perception of this type of situation, and it’s not targeted specifically towards Taylor. Either way I disapprove with what they’re doing, but here’s a hypothesis.

Regarding the damage these stuff causes:

I’ve addressed the insults thrown at Taylor multiple times by now. And I kind of agree with “I hate that there are idiots…” anon that really disgusting insults thrown at Nick tend to be overlooked, it’s not like there’s no Nick haters, there is. But because of the inherent racism, attacks on Taylor are much more obvious. Either way it’s cruel and disgusting and the boys don’t deserve to be thrown insults like that, nor do they deserve to have people enact cruelty in their name. Rarely is anyone deserving of that, and in the case of these two boys who have been proven to kind and wonderful people, it’s definitely wrong.

I’m tired of reading and seeing these bullshit on social media as well, which is why I actively avoid it, but “You don’t have to post it” anon, I definitely understand and share your worries of this fucking up the boys mental health.

But the sad truth is that we can’t decide what he can see and what he can’t. We’re just gonna need to trust him, to believe that he knows how to regulate the exposure of response he gets, that he knows what comments matter and what don’t, that he knows how to take care of his mental health. He actively avoids twitter, so I think he has an idea on what he can engage with an what he shouldn’t. Same goes with Nick, all we can do is believe he knows his mental health and how to regulate it. Meanwhile, those of us who aren’t assholes, we’ll show them all the love we have for him. I think public figures all struggle with this to some extent, so when they stepped into this career, I believe they saw this as a possibility, so they’re prepared to some degree. That doesn’t make any of this okay, but again, ultimately, we’re not people directly in their lives. We can’t do anything else practical.

Ultimately I want to say, be kind, compassionate and considerate. We can’t control what others do, and truth be told when it comes to the majority of the haters, I don’t think calling them out will change anything. They have their mind set. So the best we can do, is manage and control what we say and do, and to some degree, what we see and engage with.

I would like to apologize to all the POC writers I have offended with my actions and who where sent death and rape threats because of it. I will like to apologize for the mess I have made under the Ellie and Abby tag I didn't mean for this outcome to happen at all. All I wanted was to say my opinion on a matter that is a very serious in the community. I didn't expect the outcome to be like this I didn’t expect anybody to get hate and I didn’t expect people to give up on something that means so much to them (writing) I deserve the hate coming to me because I wouldn’t mind my business. And about the minor thing in my household I was raised with 13-16 being a minor and we didn't consider 17 to be a minor we consider it a young adult or adult so I put that in my bio because I thought I would be considered a adult. No I don't read anything that is 18+ I don't interact with blogs that have the 18+ warning anywhere and I respect peoples wishes when they say for us minors to not interact. But that doesn't mean I deserve to be harrassed for my age because if it I was only in “adult business” because again I thought I would be considered one.

And about me blaming those two authors for the hate and harrassment was only because the username who was sending me hate was a fan of them (elsweetheartfan) and I was so stressed and mad at the fact that I was getting this suff that I blamed them and for that I apologize to them.

And people I think are saying I made that hate account when I didn't when I made my last post I left Tumblr (cause I had too take a break cause the hate was really really getting to me and then I thought about Self harming) I didn't make that account to hate on anyone and I wouldn't make that account to hate on myself I'm not an attention seeker.

I'm not delusional I have schizophrenia so with people anonymous asking me if I'm delusional as an insult really hurts. And with (@/elsweetheartfan) and a lot of other anonymous asks yes I am Haitian and Greek it exists my mother's side lives in Greece and I live with my Haitian grandmother I wouldn't lie about my race or ethnicity. I started writing because I wanted to make inclusive content for WOC. I made this blog to share my stories with the world. News flash: this means literally nothing and you’re trying to stir up drama for no reason. I’ve seen your ask on a few blogs now. Why? What’s the matter with you? 

There are so many things wrong with what you’re doing. I implore you to think critically about what you’re saying and what you’re accusing someone of. 

She has never, in the entire time I’ve known her, intentionally hurt someone or tried to exclude anyone. In fact, she is one of the sweetest beings I’ve met in this fandom. She is also one of the few writers I follow who go through extensive lengths to try and write for all audiences which makes this even more insane to me. I’ve read her fics. Have you? Doesn’t sound like it. 

I also beg of thee to remember what tags are ACTUALLY for. Tags are used to ADVISE the audience of what they MAY encounter OR INTERPRET to be part of the story. This is so YOU as the consumer can make your own, informed decision about whether or not you want to read it. Tags do not exist to exclude anyone or target anyone, it is so you are aware of what it contains and choose not to read it if that isn’t your cup of tea. Also, if you’d read the Author’s Note, you would know that the fic itself was a generic reader. 

You want to know what “x white reader” would read like? It would say “he admired her freckles against her pale, moonlight skin while her green eyes stared back at him.” 

You know what’s not “x white reader”? The post that you’re referring to. There was a moodboard made to depict a very specific style of dress, and the model happened to be caucasian. That is likely why it was tagged as white reader, because someone could’ve seen the image and INTERPRETED it that way (refer back to “what tags are for”). 

(1) Did you even try to think through what happened or (2) did you see it yourself or are you trying to create problems? 

Lastly, as a POC that writes x reader, I write what I am comfortable with. As much as I try not to describe the reader too much, I know that there are things that don’t apply to everyone but this is my story. Yes, I get that it’s frustrating to not see yourself represented, which is why I encourage YOU to write what you want to see. That is how we fix the problem of being under-represented.

Communities should be about support and building each other up — talking, discussing issues in a productive manner. Not tearing each other down like this. Anyway, all YOU’RE doing is trying to intentionally hurt someone so maybe think about that instead?

As a reminder, some spaces just are not yours to be in, and that’s okay. I understand that, as a white person, I am not meant to be in certain POC spaces. I understand that, as an autistic person, I am not meant to be in certain spaces for individuals with other similar disabilities (and furthermore, I am not meant to be in certain spaces for higher-support autistics, as that is not my place).

And, similarly, endogenic plurals are not meant to be in certain CDD spaces.

This isn’t to say that there can’t be shared spaces - I literally own one shared space on Discord currently, and am in the process of creating another. But the fact of the matter is, people need spaces to discuss things specific to marginalized identities, and those needs may conflict with others.

I do not want endogenic plurals on my CDD specific positivity, because time and time again, my CDD specific posts have been rallied against, spoken over, or entirely dismissed by endogenic systems. That’s not harmful exclusion; it’s practicing self care and giving myself a space to discuss my oppression without other people unrelated to my experiences entering that space.

If a DNI offends you, you may simply move on. I don’t have a DNI on this blog for a reason, and I don’t tag any posts with DNIs because of the fear of harassment. Simply curate your experience without comment; calling someone an exclusionist prick for desiring a space to discuss their suffering simply makes you a radinclus prick.

Hey I don't want to start an argument or anything because it really isn't that serious but American Latinos didn't really have a choice to assimilate. They weren't allowed to speak Spanish in public, they were segregated and a lot of older generations carry that trauma on similar to how Indigenous Americans have. This causes a lot of (especially non white) Latinos to have identity issues because they're constantly told to speak Spanish and constantly ostracized by Latinos from Latin America who don't understand what it's like to live in the U.S as a poc. Tbh It's really interesting to me how white Latinos from Latin America will claim every American White Latino while not claiming any black or brown Latinos and dismissing them when they try to reconnect with their Indigenous half. I understand why Jenna Ortega and other actresses weren't taught Spanish. White Latinos are seen as superior to black and brown Latinos in the U.S and are rarely if ever treated with the same amount of disgust. As an American Latino I agree we can be really annoying but I don't understand why mostly white Latinos have an issue with American Latinos trying to claim their culture. There's just something weird to me about white Latinos trying to gatekeep the term "Latino" while not even trying to hear what non white American Latinos have to say. I guess I have a more personal take on this because I'm half Salvadoran half Mexican, and Central Americans are commonly looked down upon by other Latinos so much that many Salvadoran Americans lie about being Mexican because it's more accepted. Which is something I've personally experienced in the past few years with the newer president suddenly everyone wants to claim being half or full Salvadoran when they acted like it was a slur before. My Salvadoran family even has some identity issues because they ignore their Indigenous heritage in favor of being Mestizo. Now this is only my opinion as one American Latino I'm not their rrepresentative and you can have your opinions lol just wanted to give some context I guess.

It’s definitely not only white Latinos “having issues”, maybe this is just your experience. And based on my own opinion I have issues because when it comes to media outside Latin America American Latinos are definitely way more represented than us (and I say Latinos born and raised in LatAm in general). A lot of them like to speak over born and raised Latinos as if they’ve ever been here. A lot of them treat race just like Americans and are not willing to listen to how race and ethnicity are seen differently here because, just like most Americans, they think their views are universal. You implied white Latinos as if also talking about me so according to your (and I mean the American view of race and ethnicity) views I wouldn’t be white lol

I hope you can understand why I am so annoyed of this because it’s truly annoying how (talking about outside LatAm) we don’t seem to have much voice, and when we do we’re represented most of the time by American Latinos.

Not to mention how annoying some people (like I said in my other post, especially white people) treat being Latino as an aesthetic, and when it comes to actually getting in touch with LatAm culture and language they treat us as inferior.

A chorus of hello’s, hi’s, and what it be’s came from the crowd. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Namjoon bow slightly.  

“Welcome back to Gailan, the home of the dragons that freed us all. If it were not for my great-great-great-great grandmother, none of us would be where we are now. We could still be in shackles or who knows? Maybe one of your ancestors would have found themselves in my grandmother’s position.  But regardless of who did what, you are all here for one thing. Another clue,” she took a deep breath, the rehearsed speech longer than what she thought. 

“I started this scavenger hunt because I believe that my hand in marriage can and will be only won through a game of sorts. All of you are bachelors or bachelorettes wanting my hand. At least I assume so.” It would suck if you didn’t.  “I will remind you of the first clue: Walk on the living, they don't even mumble. But walk on the dead, they mutter and grumble. What are they?”

“Since no one came to me with any of the scales, I’m assuming no one guessed the riddle. Unfortunately, I won’t be giving out the answer today. I will, however, be telling you the second clue. It is also in the form of a riddle.”

A few groans could be heard in the crowd. Too bad Isador adored riddles. 

“The second clue is: Born underground, raised by the sun, a host for the living, caterer of fun. What am I?”

She smiled as everyone processed the riddle. It was her favorite one and could answer the first riddle as well.  

Prince Isaac was the first to complain. “Why must we receive riddles? It would be a better scavenger hunt if you’d just tell us outright.”

“It wouldn’t be a scavenger hunt without the riddles, Isaac.” 

Isaac hated having to lift a finger to get what he wanted. It’s why Isador was happy that Isaac was only here for gossip and not marriage. 

“Isaac, save the complaining for you boo,” she smiled as Isaac flushed a deep red. She laughed as he turned in his seat to hide his face. 

“Well, as you know, these things are always quick. If you have an answer to both riddles, then please come up and I can give you the last and final clue. Otherwise, I will see you all next week for it.” 

Chairs scraped against the wood of the pavilion. The chatter from earlier rose to its former height. Isador said goodbye to everyone. All princesses and princes, some brother and sister, competing for her hand in marriage.  She had known most of them through her childhood, but, once they grew up and had responsibilities, they all distanced themselves. 

Truthfully, she thought it was because everyone believed her family had no magic flowing through their veins anymore. And once you married into the family, the magic you already had disappeared as well. It was an ignorant thing to think considering her mother had magic in her voice and her father had superspeed.  But that didn’t matter to them. The family had lost the most precious and powerful gift the gods could have given them.  She sighed and watched everyone leave.  

“Prince Namjoon,” Ndaque was saying as she bowed. “How can Princess Isador help you?”

“Are you not a Princess, Ndaque? We drop titles in events like this.”

“I am a guard at the moment, Prince Namjoon.”

Isador glanced up (way up) to see Namjoon smiling at Ndaque. His dimples stretched and made his smile even more pleasing. 

“I have an answer to both of the clues.”

Isador’s eyes widened and gasped albeit a little dramatically. She peered over to Ndaque who shared the same face. 

She stuttered, “You do?”

“Yes. The second one gave the answer to the first. I like the way you did it.” “Then what it is?”

“A tree and leaves,” he kept smiling at Isador’s wide eyes. “I remember reading a book in Graele. It was a folktale about how trees came to be on our Earth. There were a lot of stories, but the one that stuck out the most?”

“Scales can turn into trees,” Isador answered his question. 

“Yes. Did your great, wow that is a lot of greats to say, but did her scales really turn into trees?” Isador nodded. 

“Amazing. Does the next clue give a direction as to what type of tree? Or where they might be? There were three if I’m not mistaken.” Namjoon started bouncing on his heels. 

“You only have to find one and return it to me,” she laughed nervously. His excitement was making her anxious. 

“Only one?”

Ndaque snorted, “Ambitious much?”

“Yes, loud one.”

“Um, well. Uh, well I guess I have to tell you the next clue. Um,” she stood up.  Isador barely met Namjoon’s chin. 

“The next clue is: This old one runs forever, but never moves at all. He has not lungs nor throat, but still a mighty roaring call. What is it?”

“That’s an easy one. I read it in a book. It’s a waterfall.”

Ndaque spoke for her. “It doesn’t matter if it’s easy. The hard part is still finding the scales.”

“But that’s where you’re wrong, loud one,” Namjoon frowned at Ndaque . “I know exactly what waterfall and where to find it. Your Princess told me.”

 Dammit.  

“Anyway, I’ll be off. I have some scales to find,” he started to trudge away before stopping and turning towards Isador, who had picked herself off the floor.  He took her chin between his thumb and index and made her look up at him.  For a moment, Isador thought he was going to kiss her. 

I will. But not today.

Oh.

“How are you able-”

“I have my ways, Princess,” he released her and his voice dropped to a low register so only Isador heard him. It was a voice that created butterflies in Isador’s stomach.  “Every kiss, every hug, every smile, every laugh, every moan you give…will be mine soon.”

Okay so…Did anyone ever read a history book? Or ever get to learn what empathy is? Because these tags/reblogs on this post are HORRENDOUS and dumb.

Before I say anything: I want to clarify I am a Mexican + Salvadoran American, Nonbinary and nblm, and I probably have DID. Meaning, I do have experience in a lot of different communities! I’m speaking as someone who has seen this first hand and am actually taking courses in college on this. Moving on…

A big part of what irked me about these particular reblogs is the ‘reminder’ that white girls wouldn’t need to add on minority identities to have an opinion - because that’s based upon the idea that people who scream the loudest about being marginalized are NOT the white girls with minority identities themselves!

As I said on that post, white people are STILL the poster children of most other marginalized groups besides race. Y’all only have it worse than other white people. Marginalized groups that aren’t predominantly known to affect white people are deemed UNSAFE and DISGUSTING (such as single mothers, addiction, and other ‘stereotypical poc’ issues) UNLESS lo and behold, there’s a white woman or man dealing with that issue. You will always get help first.

Mental Illness Awareness online is predominantly White and AMAB.

LGBTQ Spaces are predominantly White.

Disability safe spaces are predominantly White.

And there’s nothing WRONG with being white and having minority identities. The thing is, it’s a problem y’all created for yourselves that you blame people of color for. Y’all think white people need to be oppressed in some way in order for them to even be an ALLY to marginalized groups. This is white guilt at its finest. This is the idea that you’re all stuck washing away the blood off your ancestors hands- which only leads you guys to NEED to be coddled by excessive labeling to make yourselves feel like you’re even allowed to have an opinion on something. You can, the only thing is, you just need to know that

1. You are not your ancestors. Whatever they did in the past, learn from it. Even if they WERE bad people, what they did does not mean you’re ‘tainted’ forever.

2. LISTEN. You can have opinions on things that include minorities and marginalized groups, but at the end of the day, you do not have the privilege to speak OVER (as in, negate) their own experiences. And if they say something is racist - maybe it is. If they say you don’t understand completely, it’s means you…

3…. Need to check your privilege. You are always going to be white first before anything. Copying from my last post, the difference between being white and a minority vs being POC and a minority is the fact that whiteness gets to stay ambiguous (no one will demand you to clarify what ‘type of white you are) and have the luxury of being able to say “I’m nonbinary/gay/have adhd/autism/am disabled/yada yada ya.” whereas for POC, their ethnicity is their most defining characteristic, and is NOT allowed to be ambiguous.

Latinos/Hispanics (in my personal experience) are often asked by other latinos/hispanics and non-latinos/hispanics alike what ‘type of latino’ they are. It's almost as if people of color are demanded to explain who they are to white people in order for them to be relatable in this day and age. It's almost as if we have been forced to wear our ethnicities out and about, getting harassed or worse because we are not white.

If you didn’t know, racism derives from religious beliefs- certain people who looked a certain type of way were considered “unholy” and “unfit in the eyes of God”. If you had a big nose, or a certain hair texture, you were deemed ‘Not Christian enough’. They would look for any reason to deem people ‘Not Christian Enough’, or not ‘white enough’ when talking about modern day racism.

I fucking despise white people who try to use their marginalization as a way to garner sympathy and support from minorities. We understand that you are and can be oppressed too, but that doesn’t fucking get rid of your MOST DEFINING FACTOR: YOUR WHITENESS. At the end of the day, you will always be able to hide your oppression behind your whiteness. Your whiteness is your shield. It can blind you. We cannot hide behind our ethnicity. We cannot be ambiguous. That’s the harsh fucking reality.

But that’s were EDUCATION comes in! Learning about your privilege actually helps you understand people a LOT better. I don’t blame you guys at all for being uninformed. But you only become an oppressor when you’re purposefully ignorant.

Don’t do that.

YES, you can be biased towards white people, but they’ve been the majority for a LONG TIME, meaning white people cannot and will not experience racism for a very, very long time. Unfortunately because of this, a lot of POC teach their children to be afraid or to hate their oppressors, and are also taught to cater to the majority’s gaze. This is where that whole “evil majority” shit comes from - and funnily enough (and again), is a term that y’all came up for yourselves.

We have our own issues inside our own communities (not to discredit anything that happens for white communities) that we really don’t need white input on too. Just felt like I needed y’all to hear that. If you really think we POC are curating an intricate way to discredit/discriminate against White people, perhaps those places that you feel left out in ARE NOT places for you at all! Think of it as a bathroom- do you really think a lock on the bathroom door means you’re not allowed to use it ever or does it mean when it’s unlocked and open, you’re free to use it?

TL;DR: White people whining about not having a voice is ironic because they’re the ones creating these barriers for themselves.

Vent post! Are any other writers starting to resent tag lists as much as I am???

I completely understand when one of my followers requests to be tagged in an update and I’m happy to for the most part! I’m a consumer of fics as well and I know updates can get lost in the feed but when it’s someone just passing through on your blog (more often then not on MULTIPLE occasions), it just grinds my gears when they tell you to tag them.

Especially if you’ve seen them go through your masterlist and like all your works. Likes are appreciated, really they are, but it’s the bare minimum when it comes to showing support or appreciation. 900 likes vs 23 reblogs??? I’m not even a big number person, but I know that’s fucked up.

The reason I dislike having people who are just passing though your blog wanting to be tagged is because, unlike with followers, you’re not getting lost in their feed. They just don’t want to have to actively search for your blog, even though they clearly like all your works. And it’s worse when they ask even though they also haven’t bothered reblogging whatever it is they want to be tagged in! It’s lazy and it’s messed up, especially when you know how easy it is to create a side blog for reblogging purposes as most do when they don’t want to mix aesthetics or whatever!

Even before I started writing, I’ve never asked to be tagged in a work by someone I didn’t follow or made the request without reblogging. I always viewed it as disrespectful, I like this work, and I even like all your other works but I’m not gonna follow you or reblog it, so can you just tag me that way I can keep up without having to actually interact with you or it? Thanks!

Make it make sense because at this point, I'm tagging more non-followers and catering to them more than I am my actual followers. And I'm continuously tagging like the same people for multiple works and they simply do not want to follow me after all this time, so I'm considering doing away with taglists. I don't care if you don't want to follow me, I honestly get it. I'm not offended by that. I understand! Sometimes I'm not interested in the other fandoms writers post about (but i dont't really go through my feed, so if I'm comfortable with them and what they write in the fandom we share, I'll follow) and what not and if you're POC, you often have to be really careful about you who choose to follow and the safe space you're crafting because you may end up regretting it, but if you want to read my works, I'm thinking you can come find me because this is getting out of hand with the amount of people i have to keep track of, who don't even want to keep track of me.

Hi, I really hate to be that person, because surprise surprise, I get no enjoyment from discourse. However, a thing was brought to my attention by a POC (that asked to stay anonymous) about another possibly racist sky player in skyblr that goes by @/starry-heavens. Here are the direct words from the person that sent me the proof and asked me to talk about this:

“I don't know where to send this but since you've been talking about the racists in the sky fandom I want to direct your attention to this account. They claim that they want Sky to be a "friendly, helpful community" but it irks me how they call racism a "stupid reason". They preach an accepting community when they themselves can't listen to the voice of poc who are giving criticism to the community.  They also reblogged a post from a pro-shipping account (which by the way, made up of people who support incest and pedophilia). This is the same person who defended that one artist who drew lamed without a hijab on and since then they have been throwing a tantrum about how the sky community is a "toxic fandom" for calling out racist behavior.

If you decide to post this, please cut off my name.  I always see them in the main tags and as a poc, it hurts me to see that no one is calling them out. I see new people interacting with them and I don't want them to get discouraged to join the fandom (especially fellow poc) going through that blog.”

As you can see, these are some pretty serious and very troubling screenshots (especially the reblog from a proshipping blog. We can NOT let proshippers spread in skyblr, we have already enough valleyc*st shippers and people who draw cp of sky kids in the fandom). As stated by the person, starry also was one of the people who defended the unfortunatly famous artist Kuroi when she was rightfully confronted when she acted disrespectfully towards Vault elder’s hijab, and then proceeded to cry and leave skyblr claiming she was bullied off the platform instead of apologizing for her behavior. Such behavior is disrespectful and dangerous, and we can not let it grow in our community.  I would like to ask you to stay away from this person, especially if you are a minor, since this person seems to be a proship, which is especially dangerous to kids. (the I am a proship community grooming survivor and I know how it can fuck up a kid) IMPORTANT: Do NOT harass them. Do NOT engage with them. Just block and move on.  As mentioned in the start of this post, I really dislike discourse and I hate doing this. However, I can not ignore racism and disrespectful behavior, ESPECIALLY when a POC comes forward and talks about it, asking to help their voice to be heard (not to mention my own trauma caused by proship community that I feel is importan to talk about).
