could u describe your feelings about Cheerard
ogh man. i am like always going off about this 2 people but u put me on the spot like that i get scared. um.
well. first of all she represents freedom 2 me. gerard has clearly always been kind of a feminine dude, "i was a girl to a lot of people growing up" "i have always identified a fair amount with the female gender" "masculinity has always made me feel like it wasnt right for me".. he expressed this 2 some degree w stage looks, w all the makeup & everything, and sure mcr have always had adoring fans but he also very much has always always been called a fag mcr have always all been called fags on the regular people have not always been kind. and hesitant alien era he was clearly going thru a lot and thinking about a lot. and from that angle it just meant the world to see him like. openly crossdress in the public eye for the first time (we know he's crossdressed before but never in the public eye u know?) and look so HAPPY. with his friends who support him. and u could feel the love u could see it u could almost hold it in ur hands. that was true of the whole tour ofc but it made me wail and cry seeing his buddies giving him a hug and everyone cheering and loving and supporting him. as a gnc person who has also gone thru Gender Issues. and the fact that he was doing it all at 45 with grey hairs and wrinkles and sinewy middle-aged-man legs. there is a future u know. there is a future. and theres happiness there. and he just looked like he was having so much fun and not giving a fuck.. again, vibe of the whole tour, but it was so special 2 see him dancing and jumping and twirling..
also. hm. hard to know how to phrase this one without just copying out a previously written essay. as a woman, who also was once a girl, feminity is something that has often been forced on me. the world has tried to make it a prison for me and i have chewed through the bars kicking and screaming. and over the years ive stubbornly gone very much the other way and eschewed anything that could b considered feminine and viewed all things feminine as evil and as a cage. bc thats what that was to me. but the thing is that not everything deemed feminine is necessarily bad. ive avoided gentleness and vulnerability as much as ive avoided superficial aesthetic markers of femininity like skirts and pink and whatever. (and i have lost some kindness but i was a girl too and you were just like me and i was just like you..) and. hm. you know that thing transmascs sometimes say about looking at transwomen and being like "i forgot that womanhood could be enjoyed i forgot that it isnt the burden to everyone that it was to me"? well obviously i dont agree with that. but as far as feminity rather than womanhood i think thats a fair parallel for how i feel about gerard way. there are things i have run from that i see him enjoy and it makes me see them a different way. and it makes me see that it doesn't have to be a prison and by god i do not have to move myself from one cage to another. i'll never be an aesthetically feminine person it's just not who i am or what i enjoy.. and dresses and skirts are superficial things.. but him doing his silly little twirls in his silly little cheerleader dress is a very visual representation of something more. its very symbolic 2 me. and i'll also never be exceptionally feminine in my behaviours or personality either and that's not a bad thing its who i am and im proud of who i am. sometimes anyway. but. there are traits i could do with letting in. that have been hard for me to let in. he/she (that is gerard/cheerard fjdksk gerard is a he hes a real human man but cheerard is a symbol a concept a character and she's a she to me. sorry i dont make the rules my brain does) is a representation of all of this 2 me.
all of this 2 say gender is fake and u can do what u want and u just have to be yourself and be what u want 2 be and be what makes u happy and what brings love and joy. and u dont have to sit in a hole about it u dont have 2 write emily or drugstore perfume u dont have to wish u could bring her back from the dead or whatever. sometimes u just gotta wear a silly little cheerleader dress and go have fun. metaphor but also very real 2 me i WILL be buying a custom made cheerard dress and it will probably b the only dress i'll ever wear in my adult life fjfkkdj

Tick-Tock, Hook’s Afraid of an Ordinary Clock! || Spencer Reid
Tumblr media
Requested: YES/NO: gender neutral please! So my request. Y/n has been working at the BAU for a while, and never ever had feelings for Spencer but more for Derek. One night is spent at a hotel and Spencer gets wasted as all hell which the team found unusual. That’s really all! Do with that what you will! Smut is fine too! You can add your own personal touches if you wish. Also would love some fighting between Spencer and y/n
Gender: none, they/them.
Warnings: insults, alcohol, normal CM case talk, verbal fight dialogue taken from Hook (1991), crap music talk.
----
“Eat your heart out, you crinkled, wrinkled fat bag,” you mumbled under your breath as Spencer finished his rambling of some unknown subject. Spencer stiffened at your insult, as did the rest of the team. You had just gotten back from a pretty bad case involving a team of family annihilators and where sitting in the nearest bar; throughout the whole case Spencer had almost made it his mission to speak over you, correct you, flick things at you, ‘forget’ you’re there, bump into you and more. God it was so annoying, and now? Now you've had enough.
“That was very ill-mannered-” Spencer started.
“And you're a slug-eating worm,” you said with a little more force matter-of-factly, cutting off whatever it was Spencer was going to say.
“You can do better than that pretty boy!” Derek said quickly with a grin as he nudged Spencer; you almost pounced on that man for taking Spencer's side rather than yours; Derek had always taken your side.
“You're encouraging this?” Spencer questioned quickly.
“Show me your fastball, dust brain!” you started again, “you paunchy, sag-bottomed puke pot!” Spencer's eyes widened three times the size they normally would be as the rest of your table sat quiet and watched.
“Damn!” Emily said under her breath with a grin as her eyes darted between the two of you; it was like watching tennis.
“You're a very poor role model for your team, you know that right?” Spencer shook his as he took a mouthful of his drink before a sly grin overtook his face, “I bet you don't even have a fourth-grade reading level,” a few of your teammates let out a little blow of air.
“Hemorrhoidal sucknavel” you said quickly.
“Maybe a fifth-grade reading level.” Spencer said even quicker.
“Oil-dripping, beef-fart-sniffing bubble butt” you started to really get into it, leaning over the table a little with a smirk.
“Aye there we go (Y/n)!” Derek said quickly, now he was on your side? You looked to Hotch who was smiling thinking that maybe you had another on your side.
“Someone has a severe caca mouth, you know that?” Spencer cut off your gaze with his words, as if he was bored.
“You’re a fart factory. A slug-slime sack of rat guts and cat vomit, a cheesy scab picked pimple-squeezing finger bandage!” snickering came over the table; but you weren't done yet oh no, “a week-old maggot burger with everything on it and flies on the side!” you grinned; many many words in that one insult. Spencer went to open his mouth but you cut him off, “you’re really just a substitute chemistry teacher” you winked.
“Come on Spence, hit (Y/n) back!” J.J. quickly intervened.
“Mung tongue” Spencer fired.
“Math tutor,”
“Pinhead,”
“Mother lover,” that one was a low blow on your end but you couldn't help yourself.
“Nearsighted gynecologist,” ouch Spence, Hotch snorted at that one.
“In your face, camelcake!” you shot back.
“In your rear, cow derrière!” of course Spencer came back even faster.
“Lying, crying, spying, prying ultra-pig!” Emily snickered at yours.
“Lewd, crude bag of pre-chewed food!” Derek snickered at Spencers.
“Guys maybe settle down…” Hotch said softly, this was starting to get a little out of hand.
“You man! Stupid, stupid man!” That was all you could give back as your mind turned blank, forgetting every word in the dictionary.
“If I'm a maggot burger, why don't you just eat me?” Spencer shot back, “you zebra-headed, slime-coated, pimple-farming, paramecium brain, munching on your own mucus, suffering from Spencer Reid envy!” laughter ensued as your face contorted to confusion.
“What the hell is a ‘paramecium’?” your voice held the question as Spencer pointed to you.
“I'll tell you what a paramecium is! You’re a paramecium!” everyone on your table stared at Spencer as he elaborated; “It's a one-celled critter with no brain that can't think!” and with that, your table cheered for Spencer as you sat sulking.
“Oh come on (Y/n), you should have known you would lose,” Derek said with a grin before following Spencer to the bar.
“He's drinking a lot tonight isn't he?” Emily questioned.
“Who, Derek?” J.J. guessed with a furrowed brow.
“No! Spencer!” Emily quickly concluded.
“He was a little harsh on (Y/n)” Hotch cut in quickly, “I’m just glad Dave and Garcia weren’t here to witness that,” you slammed your drink on the table and sent a glare to the three left at the table.
“I'm going home, i'll see everyone on monday,” you grumbled out before stalking off, your shoes made loud thunking sounds as they hit the wood flooring, your anger getting the best of you as you passed Spencer and Derek.
“Yo (Y/n) you getting a drink too?” Derek was about to order your normal drink until you slapped both Spencer and Derek on the back of the head.
“OW! What the hell-!” Spencer's back was to you but as he turned and saw you his anger melted into elation, “come back for round 2 (Y/n)?” Spencer questioned, the poor boy tried to act cool and lean against the bar but missed entirely and almost fell onto a rather burly looking gentleman. You huffed slightly as you turned to Derek.
“Make sure the substitute chem teacher gets home safe,” and with that you threw open the bar doors and walked your way home, it was only a block and you had gotten a ride with Emily anyway.
-
When you finally slumped home, chucked off your shoes and threw yourself onto your mattress you couldn't help but make yourself angrier with the new insults suddenly bubbling in your head.
“Who does that piss brain even think he is,” you mumbled into the air, “paramecium my ass…” you continued your grumbling into the atmosphere as you twisted and turned on the mattress before sleep finally engulfed you.
------
The work week started up again and before you knew it yourself and the team where needed in New Orleans because of a new range of sudden murders.
“Lets review please,” Hotch mumbled.
“The bodies cross gender and racial lines” Rossi started.
“The throat is slit with something very sharp but also clean, I get a funny feeling it isnt a kitchen knife though,” you mumbled as you looked at the photos closer trying to get a good angle on a printed piece of paper.
“Butcher?” Derek questioned, you shrugged.
“Could these be blitz attacks?” you heard Spencer scoff at your suggestion.
“If this was a blitz attack there would be remorse and blunt force trauma somewhere on the head,” Spencer said looking directly at you.
“Oh, i'm so sorry Doctor i didn't know my input was unwanted, let me just keep my thoughts to myself,”
“Guys,” J.J. sighed, “Garcia is going through the victims lives that we have already, I can talk to the family and see if there are any enemies?” Hotch nodded.
“Derek, I want you to join J.J. with the families. Rossi, Emily go to the M.E. together and have a look over the bodies and tox screens. (L/n), Reid and I will go to the police station and start on a geographical and victim board,” everyone nodded in agreement to what Hotch said. Except for Spencer. He just stared at you with dangerous eyes. You rolled yours in return before putting your headphones into your phone and playing music to drown out Spencer's overbearingly loud thoughts.
-
“Okay my lovelies, these first three victims all had the same job at the same court; they’re all a part of a Jury audience” Garcia explained as her fingers tapped on her keyboard through the phone.
“Maybe someone just got out of prison that was wrongly convicted and wanting revenge?” you questioned.
“Maybe, it would have to be something pretty big for them to come back,” Derek said, you nodded in agreement, “baby girl can you see if there are any people that may have been convicted by a jury with our victims in it?”
“Sure can sugar, PG out” the phone clicked off.
“Did you find anything from the M.E.?” Hotch turned to Rossi and Emily as he spoke.
“The pathologist said it was a clean cut without hesitation marks or remorse,” Rossi said.
“No drugs, no blunt force trauma,” Emily shrugged as she talked, “it wasn't a blitz.”
“Maybe planned?” you butted in.
“That’s what it seems like,” Hotch said, “Reid? Have you got anything? J.J.?” Hotch questioned as he looked to the respective people.
“The victims were killed in different areas but its places they frequented; house, bar, bar” Spencer started, “they’re all over the place is all, completely different areas,”
“Yeah, and the families weren’t much help either. One of the victims' families, uh, Emil Gosten? His family said they didn't want anything to do with the investigation because he's had previous death threats and calls and stuff,” J.J. shrugged as the room went quiet.
“Reid, (L/n) I know you two dont like each other but I need two of my sharpest minds to go back to the crime scenes,” Hotch sighed, you groaned but complied as you stalked off with Reid following shortly behind.
-
“Everything looks the exact same as it was left,” you sighed out as you placed a blanket back down on the couch. Spencer scanned the books on the shelf before pulling one out and starting to read it; completely ignoring you.
“Reid,” nothing.
“Reid.” again, nothing.
“Spencer,” nope.
“SPENCE”
“What!” he finally turned to you and answered.
“You couldn't give me some complacency and at least answer me when i talk to you?” you asked annoyed.
“Why would i?” Spencer asked with a bored tone as he placed the book back on the shelf, except he finally talked to you, “The victim is atheist, believes in the justice system…” he sighed and shrugged, “did Hotch just put us together to fuck with us?”
“Maybe,” you flopped onto the couch with a sigh as you rest your head on the backrest. That was until something caught your eye, “Oi genius!” you called out, Spencer came to your side as you pointed to the roof; there, above your heads was a piece of paper taped to the ceiling, “you’re taller than me,” you said quickly as you got up and started moving the couch.
“Woah what- what’re you doing?” Spencer jumped back slightly as you pushed the couch backwards.
“Well we’re going to push this back and then put a chair down for you to stand on so you can reach that note because it can possibly help us get to the unsub,”
“What why me?” Spencer questioned as he helped you push the couch back.
“You’re taller than me and have longer arms,” you walked over to the dining table and came back with a chair, Spencer was reluctant at first but eventually stood on the chair and plucked down the taped note; letting out a breath as he finally stood on the ground again. You plucked the note from Spencer's hand and opened it.
“A music note?” Spencer mumbled.
“Something like that,” you mumbled back, “see it's in the second to bottom gap,” you pointed to the gap to show where it was, as if Spencer couldn't see it already, “um, it would sound something like...um, dmm” you vibrate your voice a little to help Spencer understand, he nodded, “the only problem is there isn’t any clef; normally with music you have a treble clef, alto clef or bass clef. They basically determine what instrument can be played and how the notes are determined” Spencer looked genuinely interested while you explained your thinking, “this...its a singular note, maybe there’s more around?” you looked around the room and tried to desifre if there were any opened drawers or cupboards.
“Maybe there’s another one at the other location?” Spencer questioned, you grinned.
“It might be the unsubs calling card; ‘hey, this is my kill’ type thing!” and with that, you made a break in the case.
-
Spencer called the rest of the team about the break as Hotch allowed the two of you to go to the other victims houses and search for more music notes; low and behold you now had 3 music notes placed under the corresponding victim heads.
“You keep staring at that board as if it's going to give you answers,” Derek said with a grin as he walked into the room; the rest of the team had been called out to another dead body.
“Hmm? Oh I just…” you shrugged, “i just get this feeling about the notes; they have to sound something but we just don't know what yet” before Derek could answer you the shrill of the phone went off.
“(Y/n)?” it was Spencer on loudspeaker; he never called you by your first name.
“Yeah what's up Reid?” you called back.
“We found another note; the round part is under the last line with the stem going up to the second line at the top,” you nodded in response (not that Spencer could see you) as you drew the note on a piece of paper with a sharpener and placed it on the victim board.
“Anything else? A clef at all anywhere?” you asked.
“Um i'm not- i don't think so?” it sounded like Spencer was shuffling around a few things to get a better look, “we have another piece of paper!” Spencer called out, moments later you got a photo on your phone. Sure enough there was a treble clef.
“Spence get everyone back here; i know what the notes mean”
-
“Our unsub is using something called the Dies Irae,” you played the first few notes on your phone over youtube, “you've all heard this song over time just not exactly in an orchestra setting; Star Wars, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Corpse Bride, Sweeney Todd, The Shining, The Exorcist and many many more,” you played a few other videos of the notes from a few of the movies as everyone nodded.
“I can hear it,” J.J. mumbled.
“Same,” that was Emily.
“Right, so...it was originally used with catholic’s; they used the music in their Requiem services-”
“Requiem services are basically putting the dead to rest,” Spencer cut in quickly so the team could understand.
“Yeah, it's basically a song for the dead to stay dead in a way? I think our unsub is using the Sweeney Todd method; killing his victims with a razor. One slice across the neck while in a private area except this dude isn't a cannibal” you grinned at the remembrance of the film.
“Cannibal?” Derek and Emily questioned.
“In the movie Sweeney Todd is a barber, he comes back for revenge on the man who stole his wife and child and kills people in his barber shop which is also above a pie shop owned by a woman named Mrs Lovett; when Sweeney starts killing they come together in order to bring customers back to Mrs Lovett's pie shop. Because it's set in 1785 meat was expensive so instead they used the dead people as meat to sell to customers” you realised how long winded that explanation was and apologized, “sorry that was..i think our unsub is a barber” was your final statement. Hotch nodded and moved to press a button on the phone in the middle of the table, but the phone started ringing instead.
“Garcia?”
“I think i found our unsub; Chris Gevette, he filed for divorce after he gave evidence of spousal abuse but it seems like his wife had every piece of evidence that would be able to put him in jail rather than her so everything was blamed on him for the abuse and the jury ruled him unable to keep any stable relationship”
“Garcia do you have a work and home address?”
“Sent to your phones now; barber shop and home” the phone clicked off.
“(Y/n) i want you to go to the barber shop with Reid and Derek. Emily, J.J. and I will go to the house; Rossi stays here in case anything else happens.” and with that you all ran to the SUV’s.
-----
“CHRIS GEVETTE FBI!” Derek shouted through the door, your guns were drawn and ready for action as Derek kicked the door in. You moved swiftly through the shop, finding nothing but dust.
“Guys!” you were now out the back as your partners came running, “it's exactly like Sweeney Todd,” you motioned to the stairs in front of you before looking behind you, “there's stars that lead down as well; there may be bodies in there like the movie too, you go down there and i'll go up.”
“(Y/n) let me come with you,” that was Spencer, he looked genuinely concerned.
“I've got this Spence. Go” you started your ascent up the wooden stairs while trying to stay as quiet as you possibly could, “CHRIS GEVETTE,” you called out to the door once you got to it, you could hear the bustle of footsteps and made the split decision. The door was kicked in by you as you pointed your gun to Chris who was now holding a razor to a woman's neck.
“Get away!” Chris screamed, he was frantic; trembling and crying.
“Chris! Chris it's okay, i'm a good guy, okay?” you slowly let go of your gun, “im holstering my gun, okay?” you said as you're-holstered your gun, “Chris i know about the divorce-”
“No you dont!” Chris called, the woman under the razor trembled as the razor cut into her neck slightly.
“I do! Chris, I know you were abused! I know it wasn't you that did the abusing! If you let her go we can help you get custody and instead send that bitch to jail,” Chris looked almost relieved to hear that, he contemplated that for a moment before slowly letting the woman go. She ran over to you as Derek and Spencer finally came up the stairs and started handcuffing Chris.
“We’ve got two other bodies in the basement,” Spencer said to you while you held the trembling woman, “there's medic on the way now,” you nodded in affirmation before starting to help the women calm down and walk down the stairs.
------
The jet finally landed back at the bureau as the rest of your team started packing their things from their desks.
“Um (Y/n)” a voice called, you smiled as you looked up to see the person you least expected.
“Spence?” you questioned; your eyes darted around and couldn't see any other team member in sight, “everyone left already. Sorry. I've been in my own little world,” you gave a tight smile as you continued packing some extra files into your bag.
“It-it’s just me, but um, I just wanted to congratulate you on your break in the case,” the comment from Spencer's timid and small voice caught you off guard so much that you froze for a moment as you stared at him. It all seemed to go quiet, and slow; the clock on the wall seemed to tick at an atrociously slow pace.
Tick…
“(Y/n)?”
Tock…
“Hmm?”
“I uh, i was-”
“Oh, yeah um-”
Pause.
Quiet.
“Thank you,” smile.
Tick…
“I was...was wondering, (Y/n)...”
Tock…
“Yeah Spence?”
“Would you...would you like to go...on a date...with...me?”
Pause.
Quiet.
“With you?”
“Well, I did...I did say ‘me’ I hope- just, just forget it” and the world went back to normal as Spence started walking away.
“No Spence, wait!” you grabbed your things and quickly darted off after him; plunging your arm between the elevator doors and stepping in quickly before they shut behind you.
“Just forget it (Y/n); forget i ever asked and we can just go back to-”
“I would love to go on a date with you”
Tick…
“Really?”
“So long as you don't call me a paramecium again”
Tock…
“I won't; as long as you don't call me a substitute chemistry teacher”
Pause.
Quiet.
“I won't”
“Then it's settled.
Tick…
“Message me?”
“Of course”
Tock…
Smile.

"Get. Out," Jason says, glaring at the mobster in front of him. "Aren't you supposed to be in a prison cell?"
"I was released on bail and wanted to see how-"
"Say her name and you'll be the one in the hospital bed."
"Is that a threat?"
"A promise," he smiles fakely, enjoying the fact he's the one with power in this situation. This sick bastard is the reason that his... Carly is traumatized and hurt.
"Please, leave," Carly requests softly. For a minute, Jason almost forgot she was there. He immediately goes back in his chair and wipes away her tears, which are coming fairly frequently. "I want him out of here and back in his cell."
"You heard the woman. Get out or I'll have security remove you."
"I own part of this hospital, Mr. Morgan. I'm on the board-"
"Not anymore," Michael answers, walking in with his kids and Willow. "Last night, the board took a vote. ELQ bought out your shares and the board decided you're no longer a part of it. So if I were you, I'd get out of here while you can still move."
"Are you threatening me, Mr. Corinthos?" Cyrus asks, amused. "That won't fly with anyone, really."
"You made a mistake, underestimating him," Willow chimes in. "I'd leave pretty quickly if I were you. After all, we know you're going back to Pentonville, where I look forward to you rotting in a prison cell until you die a slow, painful death."
"Ms. Tait-"
"It's Mrs. Corinthos, actually," she says, glaring at him while showing her engagement and wedding rings. "Because, you see, I love Michael and he loves me. That's what these beautiful rings mean. Something I doubt you'll ever be able to experience. Then again, maybe prisoners like knowing that their fellow prisoner is a kidnapper and rapist. Maybe not. I guess you'll find out."
"I have no reason to leave," Cyrus answers a non-existent question. "There's no need for me to. I just wanted to check on Carly. I do hope I can call you that, Mrs. Corinthos?"
"No," she answers, voice weak and tears still streaming down her face. "Please, leave. You know what you did to me. So do the cops, so does everyone else in this room. Enjoy your last few weeks of freedom if you insist, but otherwise, Cyrus, get the hell out of my room."
When he still refuses to move, Jason presses the "call" button near Carly's bed and Epiphany enters the room. "Mr. Renault. Unless you need medical attention, get out of this hospital."
"Nurse Johnson," he greets. "Nice to see you."
"Security!" Epiphany shouts instead of answering his greeting. "Cyrus is in 3115!"
A few moments later, a security guard enters and escorts Cyrus out, much to the man's protests. "I'm not doing anything wrong by visiting a friend!"
Epiphany casts a glance towards Carly, "You want a sedative or something?"
"No, thanks," the blonde responds, noticing her grandkids are in the room and breaking into a fake smile. "Hey Wiley, Ophelia! Did you two have fun playing with Donna and Avery yesterday?"
"Grandma, why are you crying?" Wiley asks. "And why aren't you at home?"
"I got a really bad booboo and so I'm stuck in here for a little while. Don't worry, bud, I'll be out of here and playing with you two again as soon as I can. Maybe we'll go get some ice cream to celebrate when I get out, how's that sound?" Carly asks her grandson, simplifying it greatly.
"Yay! Ice cream!" Wiley cheers while his sister just smiles.
"Hey, Mr. Wiley, I think you have to get to school," Michael says after glancing at his watch.
"But I want to help Grandma's boo-boos feel better!" He protests.
"Grandma needs her rest, Wiley. Tell you what, maybe your dad will take you here after school and you can tell her all about your day. How's that sound?" Jason offers, compromising.
"Will you make sure she gets her rest, Jason?" Wiley asks and they laugh at the young boy's concern.
"Yes, I will. But you've got to get off to school first."
"Okay. Bye bye, Grandma and Jason! I'll be back after school."
He waves as Michael takes him out of there, Ophelia still with Willow. "Ophelia, do you wanna say bye to her? Say bye bye," Willow urges, smiling.
Silence follows that. "She's being rude, sorry about that," she jokes before bringing her out to join Michael and Wiley in the car.
As soon as the door closes behind Willow, the silent tears multiply and Carly's loudly sobbing. "How did he get out, Jason? They promised me he'd go to jail, that he'd never see the light of day again. I know it's the PCPD, but they made a promise to me! And now he's walking around town, free to see me and make me feel like I'm back in that room and he's about to-" she trails off at one point, sobs overtaking her vocal cords.
"I don't know. I'm calling Diane; this isn't making any sense."
"No need to call, Jason. I'm right here. Heard Cyrus got let out?"
"He paid a visit to us, actually, only a few minutes ago," Carly says, abruptly ending her sobs.
"Well, the DA is going to take this case. Which means Robert Scorpio is your lawyer. I'm going to be assisting him, however, and I expect that Cyrus will be put away rather quickly. If he doesn't plead guilty, than you'll go to trial. His arraignment is happening tomorrow and he's out on bail until then. After that, he will be sent to Pentonville to either await trial or start serving his sentence," Diane summarizes quickly. "Carly, when are you expected to get out of here?"
"In a couple of days, but I think they'd let me out for a court date."
"You're not leaving until the doctor's deem it safe," Jason counters quickly. "If you can't go to the arraignment, I will. I'll tell you exactly what happened."
"Well if the doctors say I can go to court-"
"Look. I'll talk to the nurses and figure out what's going on here. You two can fight about this later. In the meantime, you need to be prepared for the possibility he'll plead not guilty and take this to trial." Diane interjects. "Robert will be by later today to discuss this with you."
"If he pleads not guilty and we go to trial, how fast can we get one?" Jason asks.
"A couple of weeks, probably. Which means keeping a low profile. No business talk, no crazy ideas. Just a coffee importer and a victim of what Cyrus did to you," Diane warns. "You two don't exactly have the best reputation."
"Hey, I'm a respectable businesswoman and he's a respectable businessman. We'll be fine," Carly smiles and Diane cocks an eyebrow at Jason.
"We won't do anything stupid."
"Good. I'm going to go talk to the nurses. Carly, rest up. We'll want you at court tomorrow." Diane says before leaving, her heels clacking along the tile.
"Don't tell me you want me to stay in the hospital," Carly says, starting up that argument again.
"I don't. But if it's the best way for you to heal-"
"It's not. I'm already bored to death and, as much as I enjoy your company, I want to be at home. Or at work. Back to running the world, you know? Not cooped up in this hospital bed, screaming every few hours because I feel like I'm back in that room above Jake's, which used to be such a fun spot but now it makes me want to die inside, thinking about it. Thinking about what he did, it taints almost all of our memories there and I think that's the worst part of it," the blonde admits, smiling through her tears.
"I can think, you know, about how we got our start, and when I focus on just you, it makes it all seem so much easier. When I don't, and I let my mind wander, somehow I end up thinking about what Cyrus did. I can't even indulge in nostalgia without thinking about him, Jason. The physical, yeah I'm sore but I'll be fine. Eventually, I won't have any physical mark of it. But the emotional one, what if it never goes away? What if whenever I think of us, and that little room, I always end up thinking about Cyrus? What then?"
"Then you'll just have to think of our other memories. At the penthouse, at any of your houses, with Michael, at the hospital, any of the years worth of other memories," he offers. "They're not our only good memories, Carly. They're just a few."
"My boy on the side, remember?" She asks and they laugh. "Robin couldn't find out and neither could Tony."
"Yeah," he smiles. "We were determined to never speak to each other outside of the bar and that room. It was pretty much our only rule."
"I never did like following rules."
"Not even the ones you came up with."
"Well, if I'd followed the rules, then you wouldn't know me nearly as well and you'd be leading a sad life without me in it. You wouldn't have nearly as much fun without me," she says confidently.
"I'd also have way less headaches."
"And be dead by now."
"Yeah, probably."
"I think I've earned a thank you."
"Thank you, Carly."
"You're welcome." Smiling, she realizes something. "Hey, I just realized that you didn't kiss me that nightmare."
"Did you really want me to kiss you in front of Cyrus?" He asks.
"It would've drove him nuts."
"Yeah, well Michael, Willow, and your grandkids were in here too. Michael's already barely not killing us for having sex, I don't feel like testing that."
"No one's here now."
"Is that your way of telling me to-" he gets cut off by the feeling of her kissing him.
They pull apart a few moments later, Carly having a satisfied smile on her face. "So, how long does this whole kissing me every time I have a nightmare thing last?"
"Until we decide to stop it," he answers simply, refusing to label whatever the hell is going on here. At least, none of that until she's more recovered from this, maybe when Cyrus is behind bars.
To be continued after I actually do school because fuck the education system

My friend @ruinvevo wrote a Voltron fic.
She was having some problems with Tumblr and asked that I just post it onto my account, crediting her, of course.
So here it is! - Kay.
🌹🌹🌹
title: champion
fandom: voltron: legendary defender
word count: 3,421
notes: see bottom of page for that
song: champion - carrie underwood ft ludacris
two hands in the air, i will be the last one standing
i am a champion
Theodore Kai could recall almost anything you asked him about. Rather it be the first time he knew he loved his boyfriend Takashi Shirogane, or Shiro. Or maybe its the first time his hope was completely twisted out of his grip by the Galra, as they mercilessly attacked his sister and mother right infront of him, before taking him prisoner. He was no stranger to pain, no stranger to the battle scars that came from war, as most weren't now. Especially not anyone on the Atlas, the war ship from earth that was changing the world with the Paladins of Voltron on board.
Even now, he recalled past memories. The quietness of the world was never able to echo louder then his thoughts, because he has been doing this ever since he was a child. Fighting, losing, winning. But this would be different. It had to be, the fate of everyone was depending on it.
you'll be looking at me when its over.
i live for the battle, im a soldier, yeah.
Theo recalled back to the time he stood infront of the crowd, infront of the stage. Not even a mere month ago, before they were leaving. Everyone was cheering, screaming, urging the people on that stage to go and save lives like they have done countless times before. It was truly chilling, awe inspiring, and it reminded him just exactly what he had to lose.
That day, he didn't want to stand on that stage. It wasn't his to stand on, not when he was no paladin. Nor was he a Garrison soldier. Looking over in this vision of the past, he could see his little sister at his side, chin high up in the air, proud to know that while they weren't standing up there, they were cheering for them as well. The scars of their past battles, almost losing Shiro twice, it never would truly leave Theodore. Not even as he glanced down to flex the muscles on his hand, pale pastel blue markings peeking out from underneath like a reminder of his pain.
His attention was returning to Riley, and then he was looking up at the stage. Where Shiro stood, where the other paladins stood, the ones he considered family. And it reminded him of how he almost lost them.
Im a fighter like rocky, Put you flat on your back like Ali,
Yeah im the greatest, im stronger,
Paid my dues, cant lose, Imma own ya, ay
Theo could remember the screaming and echoing pain in his muscles that day. When they reclaimed earth so many months ago, and the lions were plummeting straight down back towards the blue and green planet, and the only thing you could see was the coloured streaks flying across the sky.
It was likely the stress of that situation, that caused his marks to suddenly go into overdrive. And before he knew it, he was crying out in pain, unable to handle it. He could hear Shiro in his ear, in those comms that were built into his helmet, yelling at someone, or something. And then silence for a moment, before he was whispering words of encouragement, trying to soothe his pain though he was unable to get there, to see him. To help him. He couldn't lose his kids, not now. No, not after all that Theo had been through.
And when he was flying straight for the ground, he was unsurprised. Unable to do anything, to fly, because his whole body was cramping, spasming, all of his muscles attacking him for simply existing and caring.
and then it was quiet, except for the exploding noise of the engine blowing.
i've been working my whole life, and now its do or die.
i am invincible, unbreakable, unstoppable, unshakeable.
they knock me down, i get up again. I am the champion

"Theo? Hello? Earth to Theo?"
Theodore was stirring from his little flash back of the past, as he found a hand waving infront of his face. It was his little sister, Riley Savannah, who was dressed and ready to impress even though they were heading into battle. A black suit version of what Griffin and the other MFE fighters wore. He could only offer a smile, and a murmur of apology for spacing out.
"Are you alright?"
Theo was then nodding.
"Yeah. Come on, lets go. The sooner we get home, the faster we can come back to Hunk's amazing cooking."
His words were followed up by a brighter smile of reassurance, though Riley clearly was still skeptical of him, given the way she furrowed her brows in confusion at the way he was acting. So spacy, so odd.
Turning to the side before he began to climb into the back of Griffin's MFE who would be dropping him off, while Riley headed off towards Laith's, he saw Shiro standing in the door way. Watching to make sure he got in safely, and even now, Theo found his heart pounding at the sight of him.
you're gonna know my name, you cant hurt me now, i cant feel the pain, i was made for this, yeah.
yeah i was born to win, i am the champion.
Adam was standing there, inbetween the pair. Looking down at his tablet, as he was the one to moniter this mission. He no longer payed any mind when people stared at him for the many scars upon his face, or really anything else. They no longer mattered, not when he had people to fight for, more information and stories to teach to those younger generations before he finally would retire from the mantle of teaching. Glancing up, he saw Theo standing there, unmoving, despite one hand on the step to get into the ship.
Then he was following his gaze, towards the door way, where their captain leaned against it. One another watching each other, completely in love.
While it bothered him, seeing it now, it no longer pained him as much as it used to. Shiro was happy, and that was all that mattered to him, though he still swore Theo was out to get him, threatening him in dark corners of the ship when it was only the pair.
Not that it mattered now, of course.
Theo was going off into battle. Risking himself just for the sake of the mission to finally create peace in the universe.
"Can you two please stop staring so Theo can leave, before we get behind on schedule?"
When they write my story, they are gonna say i did it for the glory, yeah. But dont think i did it for the fame, i did it for the love of the game, yeah.
And this is my chance im taking, all those old records im breaking.
"Yeah yeah yeah, im going, Adam."
Came the quiet rumble from Theo, before he had a sly smirk on his face, directed at his lover. Saluting casually, before he was stepping in and sitting down. Glass shutting over, as he began to prep himself. Griffin in the front was running last minute checks, as the rest of the crew began to vacate the hangar.
Adam and Shiro included, who had a direct passage to the bridge, so that they could lead this battle. The Lions had left a few minutes prior, and now Riley and Theo had to do their part.
Get in the Galra cruiser, get all the information they could, and get out of there.
Without getting hurt, though missions like these, they never always go according to plan, do they? That was something Theo had began to expect, ever since he joined the Paladins all that long ago. As a Galra soldier, nothing more then a toy for the commander of that ship, a previous labor worker and prisoner. But had it not been for that moment, the others showing up, he wouldn't be here, so he could only count his blessings as they took off.
All you people watching on the tv, go ahead and put your bets on me, ay. I've been waiting my whole life, to see my name in lights. I am invinsible, unshakable, unbreakable, unstoppable. They knock me down i get up again. I am the champion.
"Comms check, Fighters."
"Riley here! Comms are working in my helmet."
"Theo checking in, blessing you all with my precious voice."
Theo could only scowl, when the pilot of this ship, Griffin, snorted in amusement at his words. Clearly there was disbelief there, when Theo's voice was precious. Maybe not to everyone, but certainly to Shiro, who only sighed in annoyance at the bright orange screen infront of him that showed the others.
The comms would work like so. Adam would moniter them on his tablet, hearing them in his headset. And if it was extremely important, they would switch channels to communicate directly with the Atlas and its commander.
"Please! Like anybody finds that voice nice."
"Sounds just like your piloting skills. Dont kill me, please."
"Hell of a lot better then you, Kai."
"Once we get back to the hangar, be prepared for me to kick your ass and make you eat your words, Griffin."
Theodore could only laugh when he heard Shiro over the comms, sighing angrily, and even louder then previously. It sounded like Adam and him were arguing about something, though what he couldn't quite tell. It didn't seem to matter however, as it was time for him to be dropped off, along with Riley.
"This is your stop."
"Riley, Theo. Make sure you come home safe."
Shiro's words were not to be taken in vain, because they were said with every ounce of caring in his body he could muster because it was true. If Theo didn't come home safe, he didn't know what he would do.
"We will."
Came the chorus of reply from Theo and Riley both, before they were dropping in.
You are going to know my name, you can't hurt me now, i cant feel the pain, i was made for this, yeah i was born to win. I am the champion.
When they dropped into that Galra cruiser, it didn't take long for them to infiltrate it, finding a weak spot on the outside. Riley was the one to speak out, to inform Adam of their progress update since they were no longer on the main channel connected to the Atlas Command room, or Bridge as it was commonly called.
They had a few moments of peace, as Theo stepped out from the vents they had just crawled out of.
"It is oddly quiet.. something is wrong."
It turns out they weren't wrong about that, or atleast Theo wasn't, because moments later he was being shot at by dozens of Sentries. A quick cry escaped his mouth, as he pulled Riley back into the vent, hurrying her along. Taking many twists and turns that almost made him dizzy and sick. And almost lost, as well. But then they were dropping out only a few halls away from the command room's doors, and Theo let out a sigh of relief.
And then it began again.
Sentries, soldiers, coming up to shoot at them. He and Riley pressed themselves against the wall for a few moments, before they began to attack. Theo was pulling his twin axes out from his waist, just as Riley pulled her large sword from its sheith on her back.
Turning to each other with a nod, before they attacked.
Running forward with war cries and to their credit, they did manage to fight their way through until they reached the command room. But that was as far as their luck went, because Riley let out a sharp cry. Sword almost being dropped, as one of their bullets grazed her side. Energy burning away the suit that was left there, leaving exposed and burning flesh, bleeding and terrible pain.
Theo was not happy in the slightest at this. And he took the others out, before noticing the command room doors shutting.
And he barely managed to slide through with one last look at Riley, before he was leaving her alone in the dark hallway.
Born champion, Luda. The C is for the courage i possess through the drama. H is for the hurt but its all for the honor. A is for my attitude, working through the patience, Money comes and goes, so M is for the motivation. Gotta stay consistent, the P is for the persevere. I is for the integrity, for the innovative career. The O is for optimistic, open and never shut. The N is necessary cause im never giving up.
When Theo reemerged with the information required to fully end this mission, he was staggering forward. Command doors opening, and he was left forward to walk towards his sister. Taking her sword to place it back in its holder on her back, before he was using his shoulders to support her weight.
She was tired, that much was evident by the way her weight pressed against him. In pain, losing blood. And it hurt him to see. The adrenaline of the situation was causing him to ignore the pain in his side, where you might not see it at first glance due to the black fabric, but he was heavily bleeding with a wound to his side. A sharp one at that, a cut due to a blade. Sticky from the blood in the suit, and he thought it felt terrible, but he ignored it.
Instead switching his comm channels to the Atlas. Instead of Adam's little monitering chat.
"Wounded soldier, we need pick up now. Get your asses in gear and get over here."
His tone left no room for argument, as he carried Riley to the hangar. When they got there, he was left to stare angrily at the sentries waiting for him and her, before gently setting her down.
Whispering words of encouragement to stay awake. She just had too, he could not lose her.
And then he was attacking, growing weaker by the moment. When the others arrived, he rushed over to Riley, before opening the hangar doors. Sucking both of them into space, where both MFE's were waiting to grab them, glass tops open.
See, they ask me how i did it, i just did it from the heart. Crushing the competition, been doing it from the start.
they say every champion is about their principles, Carrie!
When they arrived back at the Atlas, no one payed Theodore any mind, simply because they did not know he was hurt. Or how heavily he was actually bleeding, or anything. Instead, everyone flocked to his sister, who needed more medical attention then he did anyway.
Taking a step out of the ship, to stand on the ground, it felt nice. When they rushed out, everyone in the hangar followed. Shiro was nowhere to be found, though that was expected, much like Adam still being gone.
The Lions also required their attention, with their mission as well.
And so, he was left to sway for a few moments, before he turned away from the hanger doors, and the ship he was leaning against unknowningly. Leaving behind a red bloody print. Glancing around the room, until he could stumble over to a pile of crates.
Then he was dropping beside them, out of sight from the whole room where he could close his eyes and rest. Helmet abandoned off by the ship, though his orange phone was on him.
That was ultimately how they found him.
I am invinsible, unshakeable, unbreakable, unstoppable. They knock me down, i get up again. I am the champion. You're gonna know my name, You cant hurt me now, cant feel the pain. Yeah, i was made for this, i was born to win. I am the champion.
Theodore was far gone betime Shiro was able to leave the bridge. Having to stay for the lions, but assuming that Theo would join them not long after arriving, as he couldn't stay with his sisters for a few hours. And besides, once the lions would arrive, Lance would arrive like a hell storm and Theo would be set in his sights for letting his girlfriend get hurt.
Griffin had said he was in the hangar, before they took Riley away. That echoed in Shiro's mind, before he entered the hangar, glancing around. Most crew members were still away, doing their own things.
And at first glance, he didn't notice the red bloody print upon the white and orange design of the MFE that belonged to Griffin.
His phone was being pulled from his pocket, so that he could dial Theo's phone.
And he froze when it began to ring, inside the hangar. He could only follow the sound, and it sounded so loud compared to anything else. Even his heart beating loudly in his ears, or the footsteps he was loudly making, or the slight buzzing from his arm. And it was like ice water was running through Shiro's veins, being chilled to the core as he made it around the corner to look into the pile of crates.
And his heart broke.
"Someone! Please, please get help! Anyone, please!"
Shiro was crying out loudly into the empty hangar, and it took a few moments for anyone to appear to see the commotion. Shiro lifting up his boyfriend, holding him close to his chest as he stumbled forward with him in his arms bridal style. Blood was soaking Shiro's outfit, and Theo looked deathly pale, and in a way he was.
And Shiro never thought he would forget that sight, as someone took Theo from his arms.
i'm the champion, yeah. Surpassed all the rivals, its all about who wants it the most. Fight for what we believe in, thats what champions are made of.
When Theodore woke up the next day, his throat was dry. Scratchy, and he felt the pain in his side, along with a tightness there. Bandages wrapped up tightly, when he managed to lift his head far enough up to peak underneath the blanket. Weak, certainly.
And when he glanced to his side, his heart broke because there sat his boyfriend, laying with his head down against the bed. Black circles already in his eyes, no doubt he stayed awake this whole time hoping Theo would pull through. Hand gripping Theo's, and he found himself smiling at that.
And so, gently, he poked him. In the head, where all of his newly found grey hairs sat.
Shiro was springing up a moment later, glancing around quickly in a panic, before Theodore caught his attention. He could only stare at him, in shock. Fear was in his eyes, terror. Happiness, sadness, so many mixed emotions, and he didn't know what to say or think. Only he could stare. When Theo made a motion for some water, only then did Shiro stir from his staring, getting up to hand him a glass before he was sitting back down.
Tears were in his eyes, as he watched Theo take a drink.
"How could you do that? Be so reckless? I almost lost you, Theo. I.. i dont know what i would have done without you."
Theo didn't know what to say at first, as he watched Shiro sob as he finally was able to release his emotions out from the whole event, because Theo was awake. His Theo. His lover, his boyfriend, his partner, his best friend. Space dad number two.
And really, Theo didn't say anything. Instead pulling Shiro up with the little bit of strength he had, using his hand to pull Shiro's. Though he didn't fight it, so it was easier for him anyhow. Not aggravating the stitches on his side, wrapped in bandages.
A kiss was placed on Shiro's lips, holding him there, hands coming up to be placed on his cheeks, to wipe away those tears that were breaking Theo's heart.
When he pulled away, he pressed his forehead against Shiro's.
"I am so sorry, my love. I have no intentions of going anywhere. I can't leave you with all those kids and recruits, now can i?"
Shiro's only reply was a mix of a sob of terror, and a choking of laughter as he brought Theo in for another grateful kiss.
I am the champion. okay yeah so here are the notes.
originally this was just an idea, but then i thought of Theo sliding underneath a door, with Riley looking at him in terror and realized i needed to expsnd further on this.
The champion song by Carrie Underwood has reminded me of all of the Paladins, and that is why i used it here.
lmao despite knowing that none of them will see it, i do hope that josh keaton, bex taylor, kimberly brooks, steven yeun, jeremy shada, all of them know just what these characters mean to me. and what they inspire me to do.
so yeah.
hope you liked it. ~ @ruinvevo

A little openly honest abridged intro in to me and dealing with my head and my black dog.
I am the newly appointed Team Leader for West Yorkshire with the guys at Veterans Hike. @veteranshike
Ive found a love for hiking over the past few months, since this crazy lockdown here in the UK.
I have struggled a lot over the years since leaving the Army, still dont feel like I fit into the bracket called Civvie. I know that may sound a little cliche. But it is exactly what it is.
I joined the forces straight from school. There was nothing for me where I lived, and with a long proud military history in my family, I felt it's what I'd always wanted and knew in my early to mid teens, that I'd join up.
I felt I did pretty well, considering pretty much everyone I knew, thought that I wouldnt even make it past selection. Well I pissed on their parade let me tell ya.
I'm not going to go into the ins and out of my career. But the tours I did, were SFOR (peacekeeping) Bosnia 98 and Op Agricola Kosovo 99.
Now with that, I've seen some pretty fkd up stuff at the ages of 18 and 19.. But you crack on and get the job the done. Get back home and continue as normal.
Now upon leaving the Army, I felt very lost. Ended up going from job to job, due to not being able to fit in with or liking the people I worked with. Often getting pushed out because of having a different mindset... This turned into a serious dislike for people in general. There was no bond, no brotherhood, everyone out for themselves and didnt care who they fkd over to get what they wanted.
This became the time I started with the heavy drinking and the stupid violence, infact the drink and the violence became the reason I lost my family and almost ended up 6 feet under.
The violence continued, as I just hated everyone... for lots of different reasons. This then led to me serving time on a couple of occasions. But it still continued after being locked up... I didnt see it as a problem, as I just thought "I wont take peoples shit", and I'll show anyone who tries to give me shit. That it will lead to getting hurt. Jump forward to being left for dead with 2 stab wounds... Yes it got that bad. Maybe I was asking for my way out?
Jump forward a year or so of living a dark time.
Its then i got into martial arts (Muay Thai under the tutilage of master Ronnie Green 5 time world champion), a friend of mine didnt want to see me locked up again. Or with more perforations than a "Tetley Tea bag". This became my drive again, I'd found something I could focus on and put myself, my whole self into again.
First session in, I was hooked. Had my first full contact fight at just over 6 months and had plenty thereafter, still have the copy of my official invite to the 2013 world championships. This was my crowing glory moment... This is where I'd found the focus to not be that drunked violent ass hat. My fitness went through the roof and I felt good again for the first time in years
Injury got me though, put me right back to not being able to train. Even ended my career, I tried to train again, but way too soon. Causing myself more problems. Taking even longer to get back to 100%
My anger started to creep back, the bad food the drinking... and yes the violence. then jump again forward to going back to prison for a very violent episode in 2015. Where 2 people got badly hurt. I pleaded guilty. I tried to reach out for help before the day in court. But it was too little too late...
However, in prison this time in 2016 I asked for help. Where can i get it, and who can help me the most.. There was a small eager group called Care after Combat, they concentrate on helping Veterans, who are sent to prison. During and after release. (I'll go into them at a later date).
I've kept my nose clean since then, was officially Dignosed with PTSD in 2017, so done a few local therapy courses Anger Management, CBT but still no actual PTSD help as of yet. Combat Stress, I think may have forgotten about me hahaha.
But the thought of prison!!!! id rather not go back ever again. Plus I'm getting on now, and not a 25 year old dick head. Eith a chip on his shoulder about civvies anymore.
Jump forward again, to present Covid 19 times.
I'm a joiner now put myself through College 12 years ago. The outdoors have always agreed with me. But after a work accident last year in August I had 14 weeks sat at home gaining weight. Bordem drinking and eating shit and the head started to go again. But thankfully got back to work early December.
In March 2020 and we get Furloughed. For however long it may take.
So I gave myself THE talking to. Stay off the booze (well not completely hehe). Keep yourself busy. Find a focus in something, anything. Just dont he that dickhead again.
So here I am, I spend at least 3 days a week walking the Pennines and the moors between my beloved Yorkshire and the dark soggy lands of Lancahire. Its literally 20 minutes from my door to where I park the motor. My head still goes south, but more into the low mood and hating myself for allowing what I'd done in the past. I've had depression for years, but it was always over shadowed by my stupidity. So when it does that, i hit my local park and do 10 laps (8 miles) of that. Or just get my pack ready and hit the trails. Often doing around 15-20 miles.
Now I've started with a small Daystack and have started adding weight, carring 15kg. plus 3 litre camelback, food stuff and inclement weather gear. Its north of England the weather does what it wants. "If tha dunt lyk weather, jus bloody wait 20 minutes It'l change". hahaha.
Doing this has given me more drive in my fitness and massively boosted my mental state. Plus the escape from the rat race bollox that we all have to live through. More and more people have started to notice my weight loss. Down from 20 stone to just over 17 stone. Now I'm as round as I am tall, but for a fat lad I've been told I'm pretty fit... Guess all those years in the Army, years of Muay Thai and Kempo Jiu Jitsu. It must have left some form of conditioning and muscle memory. So this again boosts me. I'm now picking up the weights at home and even got a bike... so this new found fitness is a fantastic feeling again... it's not just about keeping busy anymore, it's about showing people. Who I'd alienated during all these years, that I'm not the same guy, and they are wanting to come on hikes with me now
(Its also pushed me to train for the 3 peaks... but that's another story for another time)
It's also the biggest Therapy I can give myself, sometimes I go it alone and sometimes I have company. The outdoors is literally where I feel at my easiest and most peaceful... The benefits are there for everyone who knows me, to see. Its physically demanding, but it's so peaceful. If I bump into other people, there is always a nod a smile and a "morning/afternoon" exchanged. Not all people are nob heads haha!
I cant stress enough how good it feels to keep occupied physically and mentally, buy doing something I never thought I'd do...
It's become my passion... I'm looking into longer routes all the time, and now looking at some proper outdoors gear. Better rucksack even a tent. If being up the hills for a few hours or just a day, makes me feel things are better. Then surely a couple of days and nights will be even better...Right?
I want to thank anyone who takes the time to reads this, however you see it. Be it on insta, Tumbler or FB. So cheers guys and gals.
We all have hardships, we all need that help at some point. Go out and find what makes it all better, please guys. We all deserve to smile for what ever reason.
Who knows, we may even cross trails someday. You'll always get a smile and a nod from me.

“The Monster Uprising”
Sorry this is later than usual. I’ve been having some personal issues lately that have been rather time consuming. But anyway yall ain’t here for that! So let’s get on with the episode. As always, I’m watching from the perspective of someone who has read both the manga and web comic
Once again, picking up right where we left off! Suiryu finally makes his fighting debut. He’s been introduced like what, 3 episodes ago? But honestly idgaf about him nearly as much as
Tumblr media
MAX MY BOI I KNOW HOW THIS ENDS FOR YOU BUT I’M ROUTING FOR YOU ANYWAY. Oh god I gotta say, I forgot Suirya has a couple nightmare faces yikes. Also, I love how the Sea King keeps having an impact on heroes so long after his defeat. First Prisoner during the alien invasion, then Max and I know in just a bit Snek too. What a villain. Jeez, the mildly ominous music really isn’t subtle about making Suiryu out to be antagonistic, yeah? Also, this is the most we’ve heard him talk so far- Suiryu’s voice is exactly what I imagined I love it. MAX NO ITS OK I LOVE YOU ANYWAY AND SUIRYU IS A DICK ITS FINE YOU DID GREAT
hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh this is the sixth episode this season and i STILL pause every time Zombieman is in the intro. Even his tiny silhouette at the end. just
Tumblr media
NGAH BEST ONE YET MY BBY GIRL
Ok ok back to the action. Genos makes a good point and I wonder that, too. Saitama broke his limiter through sheer willpower right, like thats crazy but also not THAT crazy. Is he REALLY the only person EVER to have done that thus far (aside from probably blast)? Thankfully no monster ever has otherwise we’d surely know about it. Is Saitama really just THAT insane? Its not even like he had an extreme desire his whole life, he just beat some crab guy and snapped one day? OH OH GENO’S PHONE OS RINGING MONSTERS! MONSTER! MO N S T ER S ! aw wait no go to the monsters hey
Tumblr media
OH WAIT NEVERMIND THIS IS OK SNEK SNEK S N E K OK I actually really like him?? He’s like they show’s resident butt-monkey but also just a good guy.
OH HEY THAATS DIFFERENT!?!? Wow ok so in the manga, it just happened by chance that the cheering in the stadium was so loud that no one heard the monster evacuation alarms, but here they’re setting up Bakuzan preemptively as an asshole who actively disregarded the alarm and everyone’s safety (although he kinda has a point?). Because the way he acts later on is clearly not evil enough already? I feel like that’s unnecessary but it doesn’t add or detract from anything really so whatever I guess?
FUCKIN KEK DAVE. Top tier humor ffs the random mundane name joke will never get old fite me ooh Oh good god OK Choze’s face is also terrifying oh no. Dude you don’t need a monster cell you ALREADY LOOK LIKE ONE but OK
Tumblr media

Chapter 7
After two days on horseback and two nights sleeping on the cold, hard ground, there was nowhere she didn’t ache. The ibroprofen in her bag called to her like a sirens song, but under the watchful gaze of eight suspicious highlanders, and one pissed off redcoat, she couldn’t risk even opening her bags, never mind taking pain killers.
She wasn’t the only one that needed them either. As much as he tried to hide it, Jamie’s side was bothering him, not that she was surprised. To resounding cheers from the men, he’d come strolling out of the forest last night carrying a great big bloody doe over his shoulders. She was starving, and grateful for the meat, but she could have quiet gladly throttled him where he stood.
No matter how sexy he’d looked.
He hadn’t been alone, he’d taken two other men with him, so why the hell they couldn’t have carried the beast she didn’t know.
Bloody idiot!
She sighed and shifted, attempting once again to ease the pain in her back, and Jamie sighed along with her.
“T’is no too far now, Sassenach. Leoch’s just over the rise an’ ye can rest a wee bit before supper.” He whispered, subtlety squeezing his thighs against her in reassurance. Like him, she’d attempted to hide her discomfort, but he missed nothing.
“I’m fine honestly, but I really need to check your wound and change the padding today. Is there somewhere we can do it at Leoch?” She whispered back. She’d wanted to check it last night, afraid that he’d ripped it open hunting, but hadn’t been able to. Jamie’s uncle, Dougal Mackenzie, had taken an instant dislike to her, and had barely let her out of his sight long enough for her to pee.
They’d ridden from dawn till dusk yesterday and not once did he stray out of hearing range, always staying close enough to listen into their conversation. As a result she and Jamie had barely spoken two words together and, although she’d been nestled snuggly between his thighs, he’d been distant. Keeping his hands securely on the reigns, rather than around her as he had the day before, and she missed him.
Even now, she could feel Douglas eyes on them and knew without looking that he was close enough to hear if they’d spoken anywhere above a whisper.
“Aye. We’ll get ye settled then I’ll come find ye after I’ve done speaking with Collum.”
Collum Mackenzie, another of Jamie’s uncles, and laird of castle Leoch. Jamie had told her what he could about him, in those rare moments that Dougal had been distracted, but she still didn’t know what to expect, other than a man that was as charming as he was sly. But through whispered, broken conversation, Jamies message had been clear: like Dougal, Collum wasn’t to be trusted.
But it was a moot point. The only man she trusted was Jamie. Even his Godfather, Murtagh, who he’d left to watch over her last night, was still someone she regarded with caution. He was protective of Jamie, and that spoke well for him, but still. He was a man of few words and she hadn’t really be able to take his measure.
Other than a brief round of congratulations on the first night for maiming Randell, none of the men had spoke to her. When there was conversation, it was clear that she wasn’t welcome in it, speaking as they were in Gaelic, knowing she didn’t understand a word of it.
So, left to her own thoughts, she’d been attempting to asses each man and the hierarchy of the group. It was clear that Dougal thought of himself as their leader, but to Claire it seemed that half of the men followed his orders simply to placate him. The other half didn’t even bother, and blatantly looked to Jamie for direction. It was only on his silent, if reluctant, nod of acquisition that they did as the older man had ordered.
This didn’t go unnoticed by Dougal either, and he did nothing to hide the fact that he loathed Jamie, as much as he loathed her, if not more so. Jamie, for his part, treated Dougal with respect and never once sought to usurp his position as pseudo leader. Murtagh on the other hand, didn’t, and he’d had a watchful eye on Jamie’s back throughout the journey.
The whole complex make-up of the group balanced on a knifes edge, and the tension was so thick, that it was almost its own entity. It gave her the distinct impression that, with one wrong move, the whole lot would come tumbling down and there’d be a fight to the death. It was as nerve-wracking as it was fascinating, and she warily anticipated seeing how it would play out at Leoch.
“See there, lass.” Jamie said, breaking the silence and pointing into the distance, “Leoch.”
She followed his gaze and had to bite back a grimace. The imposing castle loomed large less than a mile away, but with the flood of relief came a wave of anxious butterflies. She was past ready to get off the damn horse and to sleep in an actual bed, but she was far from ready to face what awaited her there.
As much as she wanted him to, she couldn’t expect Jamie to be with her every second of every day. He’d be busy, and if, God help her, he had a wife and children waiting for him, he’d be spending what free time he had with them, not her.
But this had been her choice. She could have stayed at Craig na Dun and tried to find a way to get back home, but she hadn’t. She’d walked away, turned her back on her old life, and chosen to stay in 1743. She couldn’t deny that Jamie had been a part of that choice, but she couldn’t hide behind him. She couldn’t rely on him for the rest of her life. She needed to be brave, to face the unknown, and learn how to be herself here.
She was terrified beyond belief, but she had to stand on her own two feet, and be the strong independent woman she knew she was. This wasn’t the first time she’d found herself in a strange environment, and it wouldn’t be the last. She’d either sink or swim, but she wouldn’t know which until she tried.
“It’s…huge.” She settled on when all other adjectives failed her. She’d was going to say beautiful, but that wasn’t true. It was impressive and daunting and she honestly hoped they wouldn’t be staying there too long.
Though where she’d go afterwards she had no idea.
“It’s no my favourite place to be either, lass.” He laughed as he leaned down again to whisper in her ear. “Just remember what I said an’ ye’ll do fine. When Randell’s on his way to the gallows, we’ll leave.”
“How long will that be do you think?” She whispered back.
“A fortnight, maybe less. Depends on Argyll.” He sat back and pulled on the reigns, slowing Donas until they fell toward the back of the group. As they slowed she caught sight of Dougal, his eyes hard, calculating and murderous, as he watched them and she quickly looked away, unable to suppress her shiver.
Working at the hospital, she’d had the opportunity to tend to people from all walks of life. One of those had been a prisoner under guard. From the whispers amongst the staff she’d discovered that he was a suspected serial killer, and she seen the same, terrifying look in his eyes as she did Dougals.
Sociopath or psychopath, she wasn’t sure, what she was sure of was that neither she or Jamie were safe so long as they resided at Leoch.
Jamie guided Donas to fall in step with Murtagh where he rode silently at the back of the line, his eyes flicking between Dougal and Randell, who was being lead on foot, tied to the back of Rupert’s horse. He glanced at Jamie, and to her surprise, he smirked. It was the first expression she’d seen on his face since they met, and she realised that beneath his bushy black beard, he wasn’t an unattractive man.
“Vous prendrez soin d'elle quand je ne peux pas?” Jamie asked Murtagh, nodding slightly in her direction. She blinked up at him, surprised by his question and sudden shift in language. He’d told her he’d lived in Paris, so she shouldn’t be surprised that he could speak French. But she was, and she was both alarmed and touched by his request.
Yes, she’d feel safer knowing that someone Jamie trusted would be looking out for her, but what about him? From what she’d observed, it was Jamie’s blood that Dougal truly lusted for. In the grand scheme of things, she was irrelevant.
“Je t'ai dit que je le ferais. Ne vous inquiétez pas. Elle sera en sécurité.” Murtagh sighed with an exaggerated roll of his eyes. It was clear that this wasn’t the first time Jamie had asked him to protect her, but other than last night when he went hunting, she’d neither seen nor heard them taking.
“Promets-moi, Murtagh.” Jamie pushed. “Je ne lui fais pas confiance.”
No, neither do I!
“Aye, lad. I promise.” Murtagh answered in English, flicking a curious glance at her. She offered him a small smile of thanks, then turned her head to look up at Jamie.
“Si Murtagh surveiller mon dos, qui va surveiller le tien?” She whispered, startling Jamie and she laughed as he frowned down at her, miffed that he’d been caught out.
“Dinna fash, lass. He’ll no be alone.” Murtagh promised her quietly, drawing her attention back to him. She nodded to him and reached to squeeze Jamie’s hand discreetly.
“Fait attention. Je n'aime pas la façon dont il te regarde.”
The sights, sounds and smells of eighteen century life hit her with glaring reality as they passed through the gates into the courtyard of Castle Leoch. It was one thing to believe she’d travelled back in time, but to actually see the evidence before her was shock inducing.
It had been just over forty eight hours since she’d travelled through the stones, but even journeying with a rag-tag bunch of highlanders across the Scottish countryside, she’d been somewhat sheltered from the truth of it. Here she had no such comfort. The blinkers were well and truly ripped from her eye, and they shot two and fro with the wonder of it all.
There was so much to take in that she didn’t know where to look first. A blacksmith drew her attention for a moment, and she watched as he worked the iron, sparks flying from his hammer and landing, alarmingly, amongst the straw at his feet. A fire hazard if ever she’d seen one.
Next to him, a gaffer shard his kiln, twisting a ball of glowing glass amongst the flames. She wanted to sit and watch what he was making, but Donas reared slightly, shying away from a group of children as they ran passed, battling with wooden swords, and she turned sharply to grasp hold of his mane.
“Soirbh, mo giullan,” Jamie soothed him quietly, as he pulled on his reigns and guided him neatly around the fray. Donas snorted and shook his head, seemingly dismissing his master and Claire couldn’t help her own small snort of laughter.
“He takes after you with his stubbornness. I see why you get along so well.”
“Aye, an’ it says a wee bit about ye too, Sassenach, taking to ye as he did.” He laughed as he stopped beside the men and jumped down. He turned to her, one eyebrow raised, and she rolled her eyes and allowed him to lift her down.
“Maybe.” She conceded stubbornly as she turned to scratch at the horses nose. “But I just think that you’ve got good taste in women haven’t you, boy?”
“Dinna coddle him, lass. Ye’ll make him soft.”
“Pot meet kettle.” She huffed playfully giving Donas one last pat and a kiss on his nose.
“If I let ye ride me, will ya kiss me too?” Rupert chortled, surprising her. All the men were in good spirits on returning home, but she was shocked that he’d deigned to speak to her at last.
“Not in this lifetime.” She retorted, as she reached to take her bag from Jamie. But like on that first day, he shook his head and motioned her forward.
“No in the next either.” Jamie added quietly.
Rupert laughed harder, then rushed around her forcing her to stop as he scooped an older, plump woman, up off her feet and spun her around.
“Ack, Rupert ye wee fool. Put me down afore ye break ye back.” She chided, laughing as he jiggled her about before planting her on her feet. “Git on we ye! There’s food in the kitchen, go help yerselves.”
“We’v come baring gifts, Mrs Fitz.” He told her, sobering as he turned her by the shoulders and guided to within feet of Randell.
Mrs Fitz froze, and gasped silently as she clasped her hands over her mouth. Claire wasn’t surprised, Randell was a sight to see. Unable to hold himself up, he was collapsed in a heap on the ground, but his misplaced pride kept his head held high. His nose was swollen to at least twice its size, and his eyes were a horrid purplish blue from where she’d kneed him in the face.
His clothes were caked in mud, sweat and blood, and his wrist were raw where he’d been dragged along at the back of Rupert’s horse. He truly was a pitiful sight, but with all Claire knew about him, she held no sympathy. As far as she was concerned he deserved all he got.
“Bless the lord!” She cried, tears springing to her eyes, as they darted around the gathered men. “Ye caught him! Oh, I’ll sleep in peace t’nite, lads. Ye’v given an old lass a gift for sure.”
“Dinna thank us, Mrs Fitz.” Angus, the Ying to Rupert’s Yang, proclaimed as he passed them and slapped Jamie on the back, “Mac Duh’s wee Sassenach stopped him when she nigh on ripped his bollocks off!” He laughed. She’d heard some of the men refer to Jamie as such, it was almost a sign of respect, and she’d wondered more than once what it meant; she just hadn’t had the nerve or the privacy to ask him.
Mrs. Fitz turned to face them, and noticing Jamie for the first time, she rushed to him and reached up to grab his cheeks. She heard him sigh quietly and had to bite her lip as he reluctantly bent to receive the affections of the mother hen.
“James Fraser! As I live an breath, it’s bin too long Laddie. Let me see ye!” She shoved him back up and held him at arms length as she looked him over. “Aye, I heard of ye woes, an I kept ye in me prays. But I see ye’v come out stronger for em.”
Jamie’s mask was firmly in place, but he smiled at the older woman and squeeze her hand as he carefully distanced himself from her.
“Thank ye, Mrs Fitz. But if I can trouble ye, Mistress Beauchamp is dead on her feet, an’ she’s in need of ye care.” He asked, distracting her and guiding Claire forward to stand before him. She wanted to hit him, or at the very least glare at him, but she couldn’t because she was already under the scrutiny of Mrs Fitz.
As kind as he was being attempting to have her needs seen to, she knew she was being used as a means to pull the attention away from him. She loathed being centre of attention, and the blush that burned to life in her cheeks, was something she supposed she’d have to get used to.
“Ye did all that to Randell?” Mrs Fitz asked her, eyeing her and her strange outfit with suspicion.
“Um…yes. He attacked me and I…um…”
“Yanked his balls off an’ busted his corker!” Rupert cheered, slapping her back so forcefully that she staggered forward towards Mrs Fitz.
Jamie grabbed her, just preventing her from falling, and Mrs Fitz turned sharply and walloped Rupert across the head, much like Jamie had that first night.
“Rupert Mackenzie! Did ye fall on ye head, lad? That no way to treat a lassie! Come mistress, lets get ye washed up and settled.” She soothed, linking her arm through Claires and pulling her towards the castle…and away from Jamie. “Jamie, put her wee bags in the kitchen, I’ll see they get to her room. Then eat, ye’r skin an bone.”
If Jamie, of all people, was skin a bone, what the hell must Mrs Fitz think of her? She glanced around the courtyard, trying to work out if it was the layers of dresses and petticoats that gave all the woman such healthy figures, or whether it was just their natural shape, when Mrs Fits words sank in. Wide eyed, she turned to look at Jamie, and guessing her concerns he swiftly fell into step beside them.
“Dinna fash, Mrs Fitz, ye’v enough to do. Lead the way and I’ll settle her bags for her.” He smiled, flashing Mrs Fitz one of his owlish blinks. “I need to see Himself and wash up before I eat at any rate.”
“Have it ye way.” She huffed, as she frog matched them though the narrow winding passageways of the castle. “Now, Mistress…”
“Please, call me Claire.” She asked quietly, attempting unsuccessfully, to memorise the path they were taking. It was like a maze, and if she ever needed to escape in a hurry, she’d stand no chance.
“Claire it is, and I’m Mrs Fitzgibbons…but ye call me Mrs Fitz, like the lads do, Aye.”
“Thank you, Mrs Fitz.” She smiled, half in love with the motherly woman already.
“Now tell me, Claire, what brings ye all the way to Scotland?”
“She’s here at the request of my da.” Jamie jumped in before Claire could even draw breath, or think of a suitable lie. She’d been wracking her brain throughout the journey, but had come up with nothing that wouldn’t sound suspicious.
She glanced at him out of the corner of her eye and he blinked at her, causing her to bite her lip.
“Mistress Beauchamp’s a fine healer from Oxfordshire, my da had the use of her services when he was last in London. Jenny’ll be having the bairn soon, and wi’ no healer or midwife at Lallybroch, he requested she come.”
“I’m just lucky that Mr Fraser came upon me when he did.” Claire continued, picking up where Jamie had left off, trying desperately not to wonder who Jenny was. “I was travelling with an escort when I was set upon by captain Randell. We were separated.”
“Aye,” Jamie agreed, “but he’s been discharged of his duty now, and I’ll see ye home to Lallybroch once we’ve dealt with the blackguard.”
“Sounds like ye’v had an adventure. But did you no travel with a chest?” She enquired suspiciously as she pushed open the door to a spacious bedroom.
Claire looked around in awe, it was sparse, but larger than her apartment, and a roaring fire was already lit in the grate.
“I was, but we lost a wheel on the cart and Mr Fraser had no means to transport it. My companion will see it mended then take my belongings on to Lallybroch. But unfortunately that means I’m confined to my room for the next while.” She added, forlornly as she fingered her skirt, then eyed Jamie as though embarrassed by his presence.
He smiled at her, then placed her bags on the bed, bowed to the two women and quickly left the room.
It wasn’t right for him to be in her bedchamber after all.
“I was bathing when captain Randell accosted me.” She whispered to Mrs Fitz as though she was afraid that the walls had ears. “I lost my dress in the…confrontation.”
“Ach, I see ye we’re injured, mistress.” Mrs Fitz proclaimed, buying into the story they’d woven, and gently touching her neck, “but are ye…hurt anywhere else?” Claire blinked at her, then realising her meaning, she shook her head.
“No. Thankfully Mr Fraser arrived before he could do any permanent damage.”
“Good. That’s good. Now then.” She smiled, glancing around the room. “Ye rest ye feet a wee while an’ I’ll send for some water an’ find ye some clothes. Himself will want to see ye, an we have the duke coming. Ye’ll need something for the festivities.”
Chapter 8

Translation:
I’ll apologise belatedly…I don’t speak any language other than English so I’m afraid I’m relying on google 🙈🙈
“Vous prendrez soin d'elle quand je ne peux pas?”
“You’ll take care of her when I can’t?”
“Je t'ai dit que je le ferais. Ne vous inquiétez pas. Elle sera en sécurité.”
“I told you I would. Don’t worry. She’ll be safe.”
“Promets-moi, Murtagh.” Jamie pushed. “Je ne lui fais pas confiance.”
“Promise me, Murtagh.” Jamie pushed. “I don’t trust him.”
“Si Murtagh surveiller mon dos, qui va surveiller le tien?” “If Murtagh’s watching my back, who’ll be watching yours?”
“Fait attention. Je n'aime pas la façon dont il te regarde.”
“Just be careful. I don’t trust him either, and I don’t like the way he looks at you.”

Prince Aleksander Ferdinand of Hohenberg and Midshipman Dylan Sharp have been my ultimate otp to end all otps since I first read Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld in the eighth grade.
This could be because they exist in one of the coolest examples of biopunk meets steampunk I’ve ever experienced.
It could be because the one of the pair is a subtextual transman so instrumental to my own gender expression that I named myself after him.
But I think that out of everything, its because the romantic aspect manages to be the center of attention without subtracting quality from the plot.
The reason that I’m so invested in these two more then anything else in the series is because the book isnt about anything else. Scott Westerfeld seems pretty open about the fact that Leviathan is supposed to be a young adult romance with the backdrop of characterature of the great war. But unlike so many romantic stories, especially those geared towards young adults, Scott uses the dual narrative to expand on both of the lead’s experience. The story could have very easily been Alek’s alone, while a major player in the world Dylan’s point of view wasn’t completely necessary if the intention was ever going to be Alek getting his throne in the end.
The same goes the other way, if it were just a story of a transman’s developing gender identity, we wouldn’t have any reason to hear from Alek. Both Alek and Dylan could easily have been shoved into a ‘supporting character’ role, but they weren’t.
Simply put, Dylan and Alek are in a love story where neither of them are love interests. They’re both player characters, people we see inside the heads of. We spend the entirety of the first book getting to know them as individuals before they even meet, we see their interactions in a non-romantic light for the first few chapters, and the romance doesn’t start to bloom until it makes sense based on what we know of the characters.
Dylan doesn’t just think Alek is hot and decide he likes him just because outta all the men on the ship theres just something about the one that happens to be the other main character (*cough* kaider *cough*)
The reason he likes Alek is because they shared a very intimate and emotionally charged scene together that strengthens their friendship and ends with with a physical embrace. Its kinda like that trope where a kid goes to a party and then sits on a patio and talks with a complete stranger about life for an hour and is convinced they’re totally in love by the end of it.
Even if this exact scenario has never happened to you, you can see how someone so young ,and in Alek’s case vulnerable would develop a little bit of a crush
But even then, its just an infatuation at first. Something dumb and stupid that Dylan dismisses as such. It’s not till they share ANOTHER couple of emotionally charged and intimate moments in Behemoth that Dylan starts to take his crush more seriously, and only in Goliath does Dylan stop dismissing his feelings altogether. There is time devoted to Dylan coming to terms with the fact that maybe the crush is a bigger deal then it probably should be, and that he cant make it go away by telling himself that its a bad idea.
The Leviathan Series is kinda a double edged sword to me. It is a love story, but done so well people dont think its a love story. When I talk other fans about it being a love story, they insist that it isnt. Its an adventure story because there’s so much action. Its a drama because the characters struggles don’t revolve around their relationship. It cant be a romance because there’s so much other stuff going on. But those elements dont mean its not a love story, those elements just mean its a competent one.
There’s a reason that the last book closes on the romance coming to a fruition instead of the peace treaty signing. There’s a reason the bonus chapter is a fanservice one shot of them basically going to prom together. There’s a reason Goliath opens with the quote: “To everyone who loves a long secret romance, revealed at last.”
Becoming emperor and ending the war wasn’t Alek’s destiny. Being an emperor at all is probably his ‘bad ending’
People make him incredibly uncomfortable, he cant take even the smallest criticism, sucks at anything to do with being in command, constantly doubts himself, and has a fundamental blind eye to gaging other people’s emotions. As a starting point the series could have easily made him overcome these things with an arc that would make him into an ideal leader, but they didnt go that rout because it wasnt important.
The war was never the real plot of the book, but rather the setting. The lesson we learn by the end is basically that you have to let go of old ambitions sometimes and open yourself up to new ones. The new destiny that Alek made required him to abandon a throne he probably wouldnt have wanted in the long run. Dylan has to leave the Leviathan, but does so gladly because he understands that his destiny is fluid. Both of the main character arcs revolve around letting things go, and their mutual attraction is what pushes them to understand that. The priority of the series has always been the romance.
The fact that we think its not a romance story because the plot and characters manage to stand on their own is rather telling about the level of quality we expect in the genre. I think by calling Leviathan a love story it demands that other love stories take the time and effort Leviathan did to flesh out its world and characters before trying to get us invested in their relationship.
I think that its incredibly pessimistic to say that if a romance story manages to execute other elements well it no longer counts as a romance. As if to say that romance as a narrative theme is so shitty that you need to dum everything else down to properly appreciate it.
So often I see people praising books solely because there’s no romance in them, or because the romance has some new dumb twist that makes it not like other romances. Boy meets girl can be interesting on its own if boy and girl have names you can remember and personalities that you want to cheer for. Just because Leviathan is cool doesnt mean its not romantic.
I’ve made no secret about my issues with the Lunar Chronicles narrative, but at least in the trainwreck of truly ludicrous cause and effect, it puts its characters first and foremost and uses the setting to its greatest advantage. It takes the time to explain why they do the things they do, why they like what they like, and even if the outcomes of their decisions are improbable, they still feel earned because the author makes sure to let you know why the plan would work in her world as opposed to ours.
Saying that The Lunar Chronicles isnt a love story is insulting to the work. You dont read those books for the sci-fi or the plot. The plot’s a joke and the sci-fi is terrible. The world makes absolutely no sense and couldn’t exist anywhere within our reality. Not only is the science impossible, but identical to the foundation of any cyberpunk setting with even the smallest bit of thought put into the way shit works. (one example includes an evil mistress who doesnt give a enough of a shit about her pet hacker to supply regular haircuts, health inspections, or clean water but was kind enough to install artificial gravity in her satellite prison and keep it running even when she herself isnt aboard.) But the rivalries and friendships between the factions are unarguably excellent, and the obvious priority of the author when she was writing these books.
And thats fine because she does it well, and if our mass perception of the quality of romance is any indication, its hard to do romance well. She is celebrated for doing the romance so well.
So why cant romances that manage to do both be celebrated as romances? Why do we have to demean the YA romance genre to praise the YA romance genre?
I meant for this post to be like a paragraph, mod out.

When your friends are traveling
Alya and Nino are very loyal friends. Even when they are on a trip, they are always ready to drop anything for a phone call from their best friends. Ao3 link.
I finally wrote the story from this post. It is a series of short, silly scenes. Alya and Nino are secret badasses but they always put their friends first.
“Hey, bro, what’s up?” Nino’s voice came from the cell phone.
“I’m sooo bored!” Adrien moaned, falling back against his bed. He had been so lonely ever since he graduated lycee six months ago. He wanted to go straight to University but he struck a deal with his dad. If he modeled full time for two years, he could study whatever he wanted. He had been managing it until Nino had left two weeks ago for a two month trip around Europe with Alya. He was happy for his friend but he missed him. Life was so boring without him.
Nino laughed. “Sorry bro. It must be so boring being a supermodel.”
“It really isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.” Adrien laughed. “I’m surprised you have time to talk to me. When is Alya going to drag you off somewhere?”
“Don’t worry.” He paused for a moment. “She’s busy.”
Adrien laughed. “What’s she doing?”
“Just making a deal with the mob. I’m keeping watch.” Nino said casually.
Adrien hesitated. “Should she really be doing that?”
“You know how travelling is. Sometimes things go sideways and you have to do what you can to fix it.”
“I guess. . .”
“But bro, you should hang out with Marinette. She’s around and cool.”
“I don’t know,” Adrien sighed. “She’s cool but I feel like it’s always awkward when we hang out one on one.”
There was a faint slamming door and muffled voices speaking what sounded like Russian. “Oh fuck. Gotta go bro. Text Marinette.” The phone clicked off and Adrien sighed. He still wasn’t sure about texting Marinette. He liked her but she didn’t really seem to like him much, even after the four of them had hung out all though lycee. Maybe he would in a couple of days.
--
“So, what do you think the text means?” Marinette asked, leaning back in her desk chair.
“Probably that he wants to hang out some time?” Alya said, and then grunted.
Marinette laughed. “What are you doing?
“Uh,” Alya paused. “Not much. I have to scale this tower.”
“A tower? Why?”
“Nino’s inside.” There was a sound of crumbling and a faint crash. “Whoops.” There was another grunt and then Alya spoke again. “Yeah, there’s some lady who kidnapped him ‘cause she wants to marry him. It’s dumb, but if I don’t get to him by midnight, the marriage is binding.”
“Oh.” Marinette said, confused. “I guess I should leave you to that.” “No way, girl. I know you can’t compose a response to a text like that by yourself.” Marinette could hear a loud bang. “Shit. They saw me.” There was a scuffling sound and another grunt. “Look. Text him ‘Sure’ with a smiling emoji. Just the regular smile, not the big smile.” Another bang. “No period, no capital. Don’t want to look like you are over thinking it with punctuation.” Another bang and then a grunt and a crash. “Whew. I have to deal with this. I’ll call you back once I get a chance.”
“Wait, what do I do if he text back before --” but Alya had already hung up. Damn. It sucked when your best friend was travelling.
--
“Marinette’s really great.” Adrien said, smiling. “We had a really great time.”
“Awesome.” Nino said, enthusiastically. “I knew it was a good idea.”
“Yeah, she is pretty cool.” He sighed.
“But. . . ?” Nino said, leading. Suddenly he cheered. “Get him, babe!”
“What’s going on over there?” Adrien asked.
“Don’t dodge me.” Nino scolded. “Why did I hear a ‘but’ when you were talking about
Marinette?” A loud sound of metal clanging against metal rang in the background.
“But I know you want me to date her and I like someone else.” He said, distractedly. “Seriously, what is going on?”
“Alya’s just dueling a guy, it is fine.” He cheered again. “Yeah!” His voice turned serious again. “Really, dude? How many times has this girl rejected you now? You say she’s so great but if she doesn’t want to date you then you have to move on.”
Adrien sighed. “I know. But Marinette is too good of a girl to date just to get over someone, you know? I couldn’t do something like that to her.”
Nino sighed, exasperatedly. “Because you totally kind of like her but won’t admit it!”
Adrien sputtered. “No!” He said, defensively. “She's great, but no!”
Suddenly Nino yelled. “Honorless bastards!” There was a clattering noise, as if Nino had dropped the phone.
“Nino?” Adrien asked. He could hear more of those metal clanging noises, as well as yelling and noises of a struggle. He could make out Nino’s voice, as well Alya’s, among the voices.
Adrien couldn’t quite hear what they were saying but he thought he heard someone yell “Death to betrayers!”. It might have been Alya but he wasn’t sure.
After several minutes, the sounds calmed. There was the scuffling noises of someone picking up the phones.
“Sorry about that, dude.” Nino said, sounding out of breath. “Just had to deal with a few things. The terms of the duel was clearly a one on one fight.”
“No problem.” Adrien assured him. He was glad Nino seemed to be having a good time.
Alya said something incomprehensible. “Yeah, you’re probably right.” Nino said to her. “Look, I gotta go.” He said to Adrien. “But think about what I said!”
“Okay, I’ll think about it.” Adrien said, but Nino had already hung up. He leaned back in his chair. Did he like Marinette?
--
Marinette: I think he likes someone else :(
Alya: DONT EAT THE FOOD
Marinette: ???
Alya: ignore that
Alya: it was supposed to go to nino
Alya: its not important
Alya: don’t give up!
Alya: you are totally better than whatever dumb girl he may or may not like
--
Adrien stared at the picture, confused. It was a selfie from Nino, which was not unusual in itself. What was unusual was the other person in the picture. Was it a person? It must just be a really good cosplay. Maybe they stumbled across a con or something in their travels. That was the most likely explanation for the horned, green skinned person who was making a peace sign at the camera. Their fingers had claws on them and their mouth was filled with sharp teeth.
But they were smiling and Nino had an arm around their scaly neck.
Adrien smiled, thinking about his best friend. He really could make friends with anyone.
--
“Hey! Marinette! I’m glad you called.” Alya sounded out of breath.
“Yeah, how are you?” Marinette asked. She was eager to discuss the situation with Adrien as of last night.
“Oh, you know, breaking out of prison.” Alya said casually.
“What?” Marinette said, confused. “Why are you in prison? What did you do?”
“I didn’t do anything!” Alya said indignantly. “It isn’t, like, a legal prison. Nino’s admirer is into some shady stuff and she threw me in here to be experimented on or something. They want to turn me into a brainwashed super mutant soldier. Or something like that. We fought a couple of them a few days ago, they turned out to be pretty cool. But yeah, it doesn’t really matter.”
“Okay.” Marinette was skeptical. “Are you okay?”
Alya scoffed. “Oh, yeah. This is nothing. How are things going with Adrien and that girl he likes?”
“That got pretty complicated.” She sighed. Discovering the girl that Adrien liked was Ladybug was definitely interesting. Not to mention the way he had almost kissed her as Marinette last night.
“Complicated in your favor?” Alya asked, slyly.
Marinette laughed, her face getting red. “Yeah, I think so.” A thought occurred to her suddenly. “How do you have your phone if you are locked up?”
Alya chuckled. “Girl, no one can take my phone from me if I don’t want them to.”
“True.” Her phone was pretty much glued to her hand. “Is, like, Nino coming to save you?” “Probably.” She sounded disinterested. “But, like, I got to at least meet him halfway, you know? Feminism and all that. You might be able to help me, though.”
“How? I am all the way over here you are . . . where are you?”
“I’m not really sure where I am? They knocked me out so I could be anywhere. But yeah, so, I have a thin blanket, a metal bowl, three marbles, a broken toilet seat, and a bunch of straw. You’re good at this sort of stuff. How do I get out of here?”
“Hmmm.” Marinette tried to get in the mindset she used during akuma attacks. “Are there any windows or doors? Any guards?”
“A door with a little slit and several deadbolts. And there’s a guard outside but it sounds like he’s sleeping.”
“Okay.” She spoke slowly, thinking as the words were coming out. “So, you could rip the blanket into strips and. . . .” She outlined her plan, imagining the room in her mind.
“Thank you so much.” Alya gushed. “I think it’ll work.”
“Be safe.” Marinette chided.
“Hey, that is my line, now that you are so close to bagging Adrien.” Alya said, laughing.
“Alya!” Marinette’s face burned with embarrassment.
“Well, I think I should do this plan sooner rather than later.” Alya giggled. “I’ll call you when I get out. Keep me updated. Love you.” “Bye, love you too.” Marinette said, but Alya had already hung up. She couldn’t wait until her best friend was back.
--
“Hey, Nino.” Adrien said as he picked up the phone, glad that he had something to distract him. “What’s up?”
“Hey dude. Not much, not much.” Nino said, sounding slightly distracted. There was a lot of noise in the background but Adrien couldn’t make it out. It sounded regular, almost like a siren. But Nino didn’t seem bothered by it. “What’s up with you?”
Adrien sighed. “I think I may have messed up big time with Marinette.”
This seemed to catch his attention. “Woah, wait. I thought there was nothing going on between you two?”
Adrien blushed, thinking about the previous day. “Maybe you were right, a little. It’s complicated.”
Nino laughed. “Sure, whatever.”
“Did you just call to tease me?” Adrien asked, with affected annoyance.
“No, actually.” Nino said, thoughtfully. “You know Chinese, right?”
“Uh, yeah.” Adrien said, confused. “Pretty well, at least. Why?”
“I’m in China and I need you to translate something.” Nino said as if it was obvious.
“I thought you guys were on a trip around Europe?” Adrien asked. He hadn’t heard anything about them going to China.
Nino laughed. “You know how traveling is. We got a little side tracked.”
That was not Adrien’s experience with traveling, but not everyone had Nathalie to keep them on a strict schedule. “What did you want me to translate?”
“Here. I’m gonna put you on speaker.” There was a click and suddenly everything was much louder. Adrien could make out the sound of sirens and a robotic female voice speaking in Chinese. “What’s the announcement saying?”
“Uh, something about 7 minutes? Destruction?” The voice repeated it’s message and Adrien was able to translate it. “I am pretty sure it is saying that it is going to self destruct in 7 minutes. And it keeps repeating ‘evacuate’.”
“Yeah, that’s what I thought.” Nino sighed in annoyance. “Well, I gotta go. Text me later about the thing with Marinette.”
“Sure.” Adrien said, still listening to the robotic voice. “It says the cages are open and to beware the mutants? I think that’s what it said, at least.” It wasn’t a word he often came across in his studies.
“That sounds about right.” Nino said, sounding distracted.
“Have fun?” Adrien said hesitantly.
Nino laughed. “Yeah. Talk to you later, bro.” And he hung up.
Adrien sighed, thinking of how he was going to face Marinette again.
--
“Alya!” Marinette exclaimed in greeting. “It’s been forever! Why haven’t I been able to get a hold of you? It’s been, like, over a week.”
“I’m so, so sorry about that!” Alya said, a layer of static over her voice. “I wanted to call you earlier but things were pretty crazy.”
“It’s pretty bad reception.” Marinette said, wincing at the static sound. “Where are you?”
Alya laughed. “We got pretty far off of our itinerary.”
“Weren’t you in China a week ago?” She asked. “Adrien mentioned it.”
“Ohhhh.” Alya said. “Hanging out with Adrien a lot, are you?”
Marinette blushed. “Yeah, things are going. . . really well, actually.”
Alya let out a small scream of delight. “Damn, girl. You just needed me to be gone for a little while and you can get him.” The static increased and Marinette could hear a voice in the background, but it sounded garbled. “I don’t care!” Alya snapped to the voice. “This call is important. We can focus on that when I’m done talking to my best friend.”
“Is everything okay?” Marinette asked, hesitantly.
“Don’t worry.” Alya assured her. “I just have to remind someone who’s the one who’s going to save their planet before they get their tentacles in a bunch.” Indignant garbled noises filled the background. “They sure look like tentacles to me.” Alya said to the unknown speaker.
“Uh, where are you?” Marinette asked, hesitantly.
“Just on a spaceship with some aliens, don’t worry about it.”
“Alien?” Marinette asked, incredulously.
“Yeah, yeah.” Alya seemed uninterested. “Tell me more about Adrien! What’s going on with you two?”
“Oh! Uh.” She hesitated. “We kind of kissed.” Things were going . . . interestingly ever since they discovered each other’s identities.
Alya screamed. “Why didn’t you tell me immediately? Oh my god!”
“I tried! But you’re in space, or something? How are you even talking to me?” She didn’t think cell phones worked in space.
“It’s some subspace portal thing, don’t worry about it.” She said dismissively. “But seriously! Tell me the details. When? How?”
Marinette laughed. “Well. . . .”
The garbled voice returned and Alya swore. “I’m so sorry. I have to go. The portal isn’t stable for very long and we are going into enemy territory soon. I will call you back, and soon.”
“Oh.” Marinette was disappointed. She really couldn't wait until Ayla got home.
--
Adrien and Marinette waited eagerly as the passengers departed the train, craning their necks for a sign of their friends.
“There’s Alya!” Adrien said, pointing. Marinette grinned as she caught sight of her best friend’s dyed red hair.
“Alya! Alya! Alya!” She jumped up and down, waving her arms.
“Brooooooo.” Adrien called out to Nino, who appeared behind Alya.
Alya turned to them and waved. She nudged Nino and pointed back to their friends. He grinned and the two of them started pushing through the crowd.
Nino rushed ahead and within seconds he was in Adrien’s arms, a chorus of “Broooooo!” emitting from both young men. Marinette laughed and rushed towards Alya, who swept her up in her arms.
“I missed you so much!” Marinette said, pulling back from the hug to look at Alya properly. Her hair was shorter, and she had a really badass scar on the side of her face, but other than that she was the same Alya.
“Woah, what happened to your arm?” Adrien asked. He held up Nino’s arm, which seemed to be made of metal and wires.
“I got a robo-arm now!” Nino said excitedly, waving it around to show it off. “It’s awesome.”
Adrien looked at it, concerned. “Wow. How did that happen?”
He waved his hand vaguely. “It’s a long story. I’ll tell you later.”
“Are you, like, okay with it?” Marinette asked.
“Oh, totally.” Nino responded earnestly. “I mean, sometimes I worry that I am more machine than man, but mostly it’s just super cool.”
“Wanna hear the story behind this badass scar?” Alya asked, pointing to the scar across her cheekbone. It did nothing to mar her good looks and actually made her hotter.
“Of course!” Marinette said cheerfully, as she grabbed Alya’s bag and they headed away from the platform. Alya animatedly told the story of fighting off an assassin sent by Nino’s admirer.
“And then he slashed and there was blood in my eyes and I couldn’t see anything. But I knew I couldn’t stop fighting, so I kept going. And just when I couldn’t take it anymore, Nino came out of nowhere, knocking him out of the plane and into the Arctic Ocean below.”
“I thought Nino was tied up?” Adrien asked.
“That’s the thing. One of the waiters slipped me a nail file. I managed to break the ropes just in time!” Nino said proudly.
“It was pretty sexy.” Alya said, giving Nino a quick kiss on the cheek. She turned to the other couple, eyeing their joined hands. “But enough about us. You guys are dating now! Finally!”
Marinette and Adrien blushed.
“I want to hear about your adventures!” Marinette insisted.
Nino laughed and Alya waved her hand dismissively. “Oh, it’s not really that interesting. We want to hear about how you two kissed! That is the real story here.”

R18 drama cd short review
I actually wrote this with other aro and/or aces in mind, but then again I never met or talked to another non-sex repulsed aces and I don’t know if they do this type of p0rn. so this is just a short review from a new fan for new fans who just need a title to start. I tried not to be too spoilerific.
you can sampled everything from airavalky.
nobody asked but here’s part 2. part 1 is here.
Hatsukare ecchi [finished, maybe] story: 4/5 icha icha; 4/5 review: story is pretty cute. younger type guy. theme is sharing all the first times with this dude.
Hetare dakedo Suki na Kare [finished] story; 5/5 icha icha; 4/5 review; abt a passive/low self esteem office worker guy and his web designer girl who is quite the opposite of him, personality-wise. the whole story is sweet imo since the girl never forced the bf to 'man up' or some shit but rather let him has his time and pace and give encouragement whenever necessary. i'm all about this positive relationship. plus points for tetrapot<3
Honnou no kajitsu [finished, maybe] story: 4 / 5 icha icha: so much sex / 5 review: concept is someone ate a fruit and personality got a 180 degree change. story is interesting... if you can get over the sex in every tracklist. buckle up! vol.1 (sawa manaka) = storywise this is the best. guy started as a selfish asshole who treats his girl like a toy. he ate a mystery apple and changed for the better in the end. vol.2 = a friend with benefit between a office worker and her boss. not much story here i think but guy started as a bully then after mystery fruit he wanted to be the one bullied? vol.3 = this is a 3P. a drunk/drugged type. i dont do much 3P to compare but this one has anal if that's your concern. i'm not comfortable at how kinda forceful/not sober this one is. vol.4 (aoi yuuma) = can't really catch what is their relationship together but it started out nice and ero but after track 5, fucked up twist happen. you can already guess what it is at this point. dude also mentioned about the mystery fruits but i can't quite catch if it's his creation or not.
In the room [finished] story: 5/5 icha icha; 5/5 review: i never expected to cry to a porn but i did. i would never have expected such a sad story from a drama cd's cover art so generic. def give this a try if you want story. it started out strangely direct with the sexing but later you learned that the guy is desperate for a good reason. chasuke really did a convincing acting i cried for him. the story is about a girl asked to come to a mansion to meet a guy. she has no memory of him but somehow he knows everything there is about her.
Incubus lullaby [finished, maybe] story; 4/5 icha icha: 4/5 review: well i like it. kinda need a sequel though. basically abt a girl dumped by her bf so suddenly and a strange man approached her and they had a one night stand. the guy kept finding her later and revealed to be an incubus. dont quite catch the why he chose her though.
Inma [finished, maybe] story; 1/5 icha icha: only sex and more / 5 (bonus 3P) review: interesting concept of two polar opposites character voiced by one actor, but my brain got fucked halfway it kinda made me uncomfortable. if you just need the porn and not really the story, here is a good choice. trigger warning, some might passed over the rape borderline.
Kannou shousetsuka [finished, maybe] story; 3/5 icha icha; 4/5 review; there's two volumes that i can find and my current level of japanese can't really tell if they're continuation of one another or independent to its plot. both is abt the same guy, an erotic novelist, and a girl i assume his girlfriend and his work's fan who is also the muse. he'd ask her to play out a scene he wanted to get the surreal image for his writing or something. one volume is abt outdoor sex while the other is bondage. the bondage one ends pretty badly since he went overboard and scarred her. always have a safeword, kids.
Kangoku [finished] story: 3/5 icha icha: 3/5 review: when i see tetrapot i just instantly believed i would like it. but then this is not the type of story i am comfortable to enjoy. story is about a town/city conquered i think and girls got snatched up to be made sex slave at prison... i think. our guy is supposed to be the 'nice' ones bc he said unlike other guys he dont hit and injure his pets. good to hear that, dude, you want a cookie? anyway there's another plot going on that lead to our guy murdering his superior but by then i lost my interest completely.
Kare pillow story; too many volumes to rate but as general 4/5 icha icha: too many volumes to rate but as general 4/5 review: a pretty big series and there's lots of good voices and the story is pretty good too. first volume is car sex. i have no idea that's a thing. also this is where i got into Hirai. he very moany but voice is very sweet.
Kare to soine de shitai koto zenbu story: 3/5 icha icha: 4/5 review: just sex in bed but with various voices to meet your likings. kinda sweet.
Kimi no te de iyashite [finished] story: 4/5 icha icha: 3/5 review: aww it's about a guy, played by domon, taking care of his girlfriend who got hurt from a fall down the stairs at work i think. the sex right at the end which is rather unnecessary at that point imo.
Kioku no fiance [finished] story; 5/5 icha icha; 4/5 review; storywise is very good. the girl was to marry a first born of a family but he died before they do. so the most logical thing is to let her marry the younger brother instead??? the younger brother has personal problems in living in his brother's shadow. together though they got through everything and i dont ask much more than this for a happy ending.
Koakumakei danshi [finished] story; 3 / 5 icha icha: 4/5 review; the type of character i like sawa mannaka to play as. a kouhai from school with a liking to tease the girl. sawa fits best as playful toshishita in my book. basically abt a guy who found his crush back in school drinking alone, then later... well you know what comes next. what ~ always ~ comes next after a love confession lol.
Koibito vs nijigen story: 5/5 icha icha; 5/5 review; repeat after me, if you want lol in ur drama cd, pls find one with murano. this one i'm pretty sure has a second volume but the one i have with murano is basically abt a guy whose gf is a fujoshi and he tried his best trying to imitate her fav 2D bf to make her like him better. made me think that i really really want to buy all of murano's work.
Koibito miman [finished, maybe] story; 4/5 icha icha: 3/5 review: i think the theme is how a couple was born. yuuki (asagi yuu) - this was the first time i got to know asagi and he's very calming. it's about two ppl who never got their feelings honestly conveyed, their friends had to lie to them abt their group trip to a ryoukan, just so they have the privacy and time alone together. saeki - they're osanajimi but with a large age gap between them. dude was very worried when he noticed he no longer sees the girl as a little sister he needs to protect and more like a woman he wanted as a wife. tachibana (sawa manaka) - guy is a very cheerful and tease a lot but he actually has feelings for his senpai from part time work. he'd go through a fucking typhoon to make sure the girl will be okay since she lived alone and had stepped on broken glass when the electricity cuts off. he is best dude bc he gives girl her own time to think abt what to feel abt him.
Kyokugen joutai [finished] story: in spaaaaceee / 5 icha icha: zero gravity sex / 5 review; interesting concept but kinda fell flat halfway. i think we started in a colony or something in space but something blew up so the guy and the girl ran to an emergency pod and drifted in space. zero gravity sex later, some spaceship did came to pick them up but weirdly can only take one of them. guy wanted for the girl to go but she refused so they drifted again. i haven’t actually got to the last track (got disinterested at this point) so idk if they survive or not.
Kyuuketsuki night parade [finished, maybe] story: 5/5 icha icha; 5/5 review: ok. i like the concept of vampires now (fuck you senbura) and this is a very good series. pls do more. please make more vampire shitttttt. anyway, there’s a ball in a mansion and some ppl would find themselves in there unconsciously. it was actually how the vampires lured human into their realm to find a mate. vol.1 = a very cheery guy who's very happy to find out the girl is a vampire and offered to be her mate. i like this one best but it does gets to you when he talks about how he had friends and family and wanted to tell them abt everything even after the girl kept saying he can't ever get out of the vampire's world anymore. did he want to stay or not?? vol.2 = ...honestly this one is not that interesting I barely remembers anything. I’ll give it another chance later. vol.3 = this is the deepest voice i've listened to. guy is actually a vampire hunter who at first planned to murder every vampires in the mansion bc of his vengeance of his entire family's death.

Cathedral Tower Defense Game character ideas and stuff so far! I’ve talked about some of these before but I wanna just compile it in summary form, and try and get thinking about more to add. It’d be so cool if I could make it like an early suikoden game where you have the world’s biggest party selection! Or at least have that equivelant but with recruiting shopkeepers and townbuilders and stuff.
So... long post ahoy!
* Protagonist (Sir/Lady/Master Amity) Your selectable renameable main charrie! A badass disabled veteran who lost their family in the war and ended up defending this cathedral town of strangers in order to prevent another tragedy. They’re generally distrusted at the beginning, have a lot of doubts about what philosophy they should take in life, and its up to you to decide how the story plays out. But no matter what, this protagonist is a cool grumpy comically-serious nerd gramp! (or gran or etc) i really REALLY like the idea of changing them to be an older veteran character, it just works so much better and seriously WHY are there like zero grandma protagonists in anything ever? I will vow to make this one as amazing as possible!!
* Florin Generally supportive yet sassy and lazy deutorogonist helper guy. He’s your first ally in this world and maybe kind of a tutorial, lol. Even though he’s a total cinnamon roll, he’s as distrusted as you because he’s a demon. Even the protagonist kinda wonders why on earth he wants to help them, and whether he’s some sort of enemy spy... His elemental realm is over plants, and he has no greater joy than taking a nice nap amoungst the flowers~
* Malachi At the moment the only fully developed idea I have for another party member, aside from Florin. Though I’m not sure if I want him to be optional or mandatory? In either case when you recruit him he’s the catylyst for a lot of character development for Florin, and they end up becoming like a lil adopted family ^_^ Anyway, Mal is a very young and adorable demon child that the party finds sealed away beneath some ruins. Precociously innocent, he seems unaware that he’s become a monster. I mean, everyone eats rocks, right?
* Admiral Chiffon (wip name) A major recurring enemy turned ally! Chiffon starts off as just the eccentric comic relief member of the opposing army, kinda harmless and kinda entertaining. And you might pity her quite a bit, because her coworkers treat her like absolute shit. I basically invented this character because I got sick of seeing the ‘ha ha flambouyant gross comic relief villain’ thing in recent fire emblems, and wondered what it would be like to have a villain whose LGBTQ status is treated as a sympathising aspect instead, leading to a redemption when she finds people who dont treat her like those damn writers treated everyone :P So yeah, she’s a transgender woman who faces a lot of predjudice in her career, and I hope I can make it very heartwarming when she finds true friendship with our heroes! And also I hope it can make the non-comic-relief villains seem extra disgustingly unforgiveable after you see how badly they treat their own teammates. Her personality is gonna be kind of a greedy merchant sort of person, but what if that archetype was a good character instead. She remains sassy and greedy even when she’s been redeemed, i like a good ‘ol vice-filled hero yknow! Character development is my jam! Also all i know about her design so far is that I think I want her to have stylishly skunk striped hair, to represent greying streaks and all. I was imagining her as the token grandma of the cast before I decided to age up the protagonist lol
* Currently unnamed church matron duo, aka Timon And Pumbaa One of my early-ish undeveloped concepts for non-battling town members. These two are florin’s equivelant, they’re the town workers you start off with before the game really starts. I’m thinking they’d be like nuns/priestesses that worked at this place before you came along, and you have a bit of a rivalry here because they pragmatically know they need you to defend the stronghold but they’re also very wary of you. The ‘timon’ one would be the main one who actually holds all these opinions, a sort of crusty matronly mega paranoid lady who thinks you’re gonna backstab us all at any moment! And she’s some sort of super scary chronic sufferer of resting bitch face, even though she sees herself as the ultimate arbiter of justice everyone else thinks she’s terrifying. Just imagine her trying to hug a baby that just cries as if it saw the face of death! Life sucks when you’re a lawful good character stuck in a chaotic evil character design! And then her partner is a funloving pumbaa-esque team chef, who’s actually kinda too loving and innocent to ever distrust anyone. But she always just falls in with whatever her boss says, its like a pinky and the brain situation. Oh and I’m already kinda preemptively shipping these two before I’ve even finished designing them XD
* Depression jail janitor Starts as a prisoner you take from one of the enemy raids, but he ends up winning your trust and joining your team. Entirely against his will! he’s a chronically depressed man who was forcibly drafted into the evil army even though he doesnt believe in their cause, but now he feels like he’s unforgiveable anyway. So he spends all his time trying to convince you that he is indeed pure evil! But the more humble he is, the more everyone believes in his genuine kindness. Alas! It doesnt help that he also kinda has chronic hero syndrome and cant resist helping out in every possible way. So that is how a prisoner ended up becoming the one in charge of the jail keys! And he’s like Everyone’s Dad. (Even the people decades older than him...)
* Former bully powerful friend The one other main child character, cos I wanted Malachi to have some friends. They start off at odds and she initially joins in with everyone bullying him, cos she wants to fit in. But he ends up helping her deal with her insecurities and realise she was only resenting him for being ‘weak’ because she saw herself reflected in him. or rather, the traits in herself she’d tried to hide to make everyone like her, even if it meant joining in with bullying and only having horrible asshole friends. So she sacrifices her popularity with the main clique in order to defend malachi, and ends up finding her first true friend with him. They’re better off being outcasts together! So yeah cutie malachi will have some sort of stronge deliquent friend with a heart of gold, and I’m not sure yet whether she’d be playable or not? i kinda feel like its not right to have someone that young join the party unless they have magic powers to protect them. So maybe she can fight by teaming up with malachi, actually? like, she rides atop his stone dragon golem form and supports with ranged weaponry or something. or just acts as an advisor? I liked the idea I had that there would be a buffs-only type of magic stone, and people could cast it on themselves to have enhanced senses at something or other and improve their supporting skills. Like the protagonist would maybe have an eyesight-enhancing buff crystal to act as a sniper scope!
* Rival warrior buff teen person Very undeveloped cos I just came up with them ysterday, lol! I’m thinking possibly make this character female just cos this archetype doesnt get to be female all that often. Kind of a draco malfoy type snooty rival, but with a more sympathetic side and ultimately you do become friends. Theyre just a simple ordinary citizen who was doing the best they could to protect their family before you came along, and now kinda resents the fact you’re all BETTER THAN EVERYONE and taking their job as guardian! They have a lot of anxieties over the fact they struggled so hard to become self-trained and now you’re here making it look easy. So the plot has a general theme of believing too much in ‘destiny’, and that some people are just born with talent and you’ll never succeed if you werent lucky enough. This character started off trying to act like theyre inherantly blessed with that talent, because they’re terrified that they aren’t... Oh and I think once you befriend them I think they might be like a ryuuji/junpei type of friend? But without the weird sexism and homophobia randomness that persona 4 threw onto yosuke. Just like a bit of a cheerful cliche ‘bro’ who isnt all that interested in books and likes to be all ‘cmon do it for the vine’. A good polar opposite to the protagonist who could have some cute interactions!
* Rival warrior’s chilled out older sibling figure of reasonableness Every rin needs a yukio! I think they’d be maybe a bartender or owner of a restaurant or something? Just some sort of super chilled out job where they act as an agony aunt to their customers, the place is very popular because of the great service. (Though also everyone is kinda like ‘yo you dont have to run it all by yourself, yo you dont need to give us bonus extra special treatment, seriously get some sleep dude!!’) But anyway they’re this perpetually relaxed super kind soul who’s always the reasonable response to their lil sib’s ohohoho angry rivalness. But the bad side to it is that they’re also a lil depressed and apathetic about their own life, they’re kinda like someone who really lives for their family, in a bad way. They’ve been like a single parent to their sibling because they had kind of a tragic backstory, and big sib has just grown too used to sacrificing everything in order to help other people and never taking care of themself. And they have a lot of trouble even.. feeling emotions. The outwardly chilled and happy-go-lucky facade covers up just a void of nothing but self hate and emptiness. They feel like they’d already been tainted by the way their abusive parents used to treat them, its too late for them and all they can do is try and save other people from falling down the same path. Oh, and I think maybe the two siblings are actually immigrants from the villain country? Like, when older sib ran away from the abusive family they ended up here, and now they try and keep it secret, to the point that even the younger sibling doesnt know where they were born. Basically I just wanna have a LOT of different subplots showing how the ordinary citizens of this country aren’t all evil just because their government are the bad guys in this story. And especially covering topics like characters who’re part of that ethnicity and get treated like they’re inherantly terrorists even if they were born and raised in a completely different country!

It’s got it all! This film literally has a character break the 4th wall (with a boat)! The Truman Show has not only been nominated for countless awards in its time but it has won countless more. We take a look at what makes this Jim Carrey outing so enduring after all these years and why it is so difficult to corner into any one genre of film.
This film can be defined as Science Fiction, Comedy, Satire, Concept or Drama, but more accurately the film is a blend of all of these genre elements. Everyone and their dog agrees the film is a giant metaphor but no-one can seem to agree on what that metaphor is. Lets get the more obvious symbolism and observations out of the way first : There’s the Christof (of Christ) / Truman (true man) dynamic between what is essentially creator and creation. The themes of Moses and the book of Exodus. But the most prevalent themes come from Plato’s ‘Allegory of the cave’, an interplay where :
“Plato has Socrates describe a group of people who have lived chained to the wall of a cave all of their lives, facing a blank wall. The people watch shadows projected on the wall from objects passing in front of a fire behind them, and give names to these shadows. The shadows are the prisoners’ reality. Socrates explains how the philosopher is like a prisoner who is freed from the cave and comes to understand that the shadows on the wall are not reality at all, for he can perceive the true form of reality rather than the manufactured reality that is the shadows seen by the prisoners. The inmates of this place do not even desire to leave their prison, for they know no better life. The prisoners manage to break their bonds one day, and discover that their reality was not what they thought it was. They discovered the sun, which Plato uses as an analogy for the fire that man cannot see behind. Like the fire that cast light on the walls of the cave, the human condition is forever bound to the impressions that are received through the senses. Even if these interpretations (or, in Kantian terminology, intuitions) are an absurd misrepresentation of reality, we cannot somehow break free from the bonds of our human condition—we cannot free ourselves from phenomenal state just as the prisoners could not free themselves from their chains. If, however, we were to miraculously escape our bondage, we would find a world that we could not understand—the sun is incomprehensible for someone who has never seen it. In other words, we would encounter another “realm”, a place incomprehensible because, theoretically, it is the source of a higher reality than the one we have always known; it is the realm of pure Form, pure fact.” – ‘Allegory of the cave’, Wikipedia
This idea was also promoted heavily in the Matrix. After all this is a story about control.
“We accept the reality of the world with which we are presented”
Moving on – Flat Earthers point to the symbolism of a presented idea, a giant dome which is not as it seems…. I’m not going to get too bogged down in that one given that the Flat Earth movement was started on 4Chan….
But speaking of paranoia – while researching the film I came across a few articles commenting on how the film echoes our current online privacy and data concerns (outlined in a previous post). However I feel that line of thinking is ill conceived : We elect to share our information, doing so without comprehension whereas Truman literally had no choice. He was born into his world was denied privacy from the start. Presumably those articles were attempting to draw comparison to Jim Carrey dumping his Facebook stock and calling out data mining? Who knows.
Soundtrack-wise the themes are emotive and engaging. Burkhard Dallwitz and Philip Glass capture the mood with each scene and build from introspective piano melodies to crashing epic tension with ease. Check out ‘It’s a life‘ , ‘Dreaming of Fiji‘ , ‘Reunion‘ and ‘Truman sleeps‘ specifically. The strings are vibrant and never overstep the mark, driving the scene in some areas and guiding it gently in others.
Jim Carrey filmed this at the height of his career but up until then was only really known for his comedic roles. Despite filming taking place earlier and delays with the studio over the films release, Carrey already had a number of successful box office films (Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994) The Mask (1994) Dumb and Dumber (1994) Batman Forever (1995) Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls (1995) The Cable Guy (1996) Liar Liar (1997)) under his belt. Some more successful than others obviously but this marks his first real acting job as far as I’m concerned. He has range here that we had previously never seen before. It demonstrates his first performance outside of the goofball character.
It’s worth noting that a similar project came out after The Truman Show – EDTV was another concept film which saw Matthew McConaughey (also starring Ellen, Woody from Cheers and Chandlers fruit-dehydrating roomate) elect to become a reality television star (with hilarious consequences ugh). A bit of a flop, EDTV’s saving grace was it’s ability to portray the “everyman”. They showed the effects of having the cameras intrude on the life of an aware Joe Bloggs character. The protagonist being a bit of a slob (and not too bright) made it easy for the writers to put him into that situation and act boisterous in an effort to escape. With Truman there was a child-like naivety that made him the hero of the film. His schtick was an innocence that made the audience root for him.
The deleted scenes allude to deeper plot threads and character traits. There is a scene where it could be theorised that the network were drugging Truman with “vitamins”. A scene outlining a studio plot for Truman to have an affair, a son and his inevitable death (prematurely or otherwise). In this scene they discuss Truman’s son and the continuation of the show which is an interesting concept in itself. In another scene we see that when Truman steps onto the boat – he knows completely that everyone in Seahaven is in on the conspiracy. He appears disguised as a member of his own search party and makes his way to the docks. Once he knows the truth there is no turning back for his character. Obviously this scenes omission from the theatrical cut makes for a more compelling story if Truman still has doubts as to the level and intricacies of the conspiracy by this stage.
I truly feel like Andrew Niccol doesn’t get enough credit for the world-building at play. Every character not only has a backstory within Truman’s world, but so does the actors that play them (within the confines of the world outside Seahaven). I admire this level of detail (seen more recently in the gaming world with the likes of Red Dead Redemption 2 – where the NPC’s have lives and jobs and a scheduled day independent of the protagonists actions). We can also see the sophistication of the camera technology grow as Truman gets older in the more “clip driven” portions of the film.
The filming is in itself fascinating. At the beginning of the film shots of Truman appear largely in fish eye, iris and point-of-view to demonstrate the perspective of the hidden cameras. As Truman discovers his world these devices are used less, subtly taking the audience out of this world alongside Truman (to a certain extent). The shift is subtle but wholly impactful. Even camera angles throughout the film make it look like filming is being conducted from hidden locations within the scenery.
As solid as the world-building of the film is, there are still some concerns about the ending : what happened when Truman went through the door? Did it lead into a backstage area or some sort of maintenance corridor? Echoing back to the religious symbolism, Christof addresses Truman from the heavens with a booming voice and Truman turns his back on the creator. As symbolic as his exit is in the film, Truman is still within Christof’s control (at least until he makes it outside of the secure studio/dome facility). And then there’s the legal ramifications of his departure. The studio presumably have a legal obligation to his care and well-being. We assume that Sylvia comes to meet Truman leaving the studio but we have no idea how difficult it would be for him to leave the compound property.
Christof and the network can’t have been too happy about Truman’s departure – Would they seek to smear him using footage of grabbing his wife Meryl with the blade? What are the copyright and consent limitations? Then there’s the serious mental toll of living a lie : breakdowns and trust issues, lack of anonymity. We only see glimpses of the world outside of Seahaven and even then it is only of the audience themselves. What kind of world could Truman potentially be walking into?
Calm down, Stu. It’s only a film?
The Truman Show is heartfelt and sincere. It is all of these genre specific elements, religious analogies and psychoanalytical commentaries rolled neatly into the DNA of what is a solid concept film (which ironically would work well as a television series). It asks fascinating questions about identity and privacy. For that reason I feel it will be remembered fondly for years to come. A time capsule if you will. A snapshot of a time before mass surveillance and reality television.
“In case I don’t see ya, good afternoon, good evening and goodnight”

Can a car insurance company make up points on your license?
So in early march my apartment was raided for pot, and a 1/2 gram was found. I was convicted of possession of marijuana and as part of Michigan's driving laws even if the incident did not occur in a car your license is restricted for 6 months. Yesterday my mother (the insurance for the whole family is in her name) received a notice that i had 8 points on my license and my insurance rates would be raised. Confused about this i went to Sec of State and in fact found out that i have no points. I called Memic and explained this to them, they informed me that they do not use actual points, they use their system of points. For example OUID is a 6 point offense but they count it as 8 points. Passing a stopped school bus (which as far as i can tell is no points) they view as 8 points. My question is, can they do this? We are switching insurances next month due to cheaper rates but this seems like a shady business practice to me. Thanks for ur time!!! -Pat""

Why can't responsible working people get low-cost health insurance?
Here's my big fault: I have no fatherless children, in fact, I have no children. Yet I have to hear a girl that I work with (who makes more than I do) talk about how she has state health insurance (I believe Medicaid) at an extremely low cost, since she made the decision to have a child with a man that she knew was a criminal, and is now serving time in prison. (And oh yeah, I drive an 11-year-old car, she just recently got a new one. But I know, that's easy when you get a free ride for the necessities.) So, why can't there be affordable health insurance for everyone, even if you did not choose to pump out a child (or children) you knew you could not afford to take care of?""

Why do companies that claim to offer them the best insurance quotes sell leads?
I was shopping around for insurance quotes on my home and cars. Many of the websites that I came across claimed to offer the best quotes from different companies thereby getting me the best price. I started filling out a few forms and, for once, I decided to read the fine print ( you know that small font form we all click agree on). Basically what I found was that the company used 4 agencies that paid them to contact me. What the site was trying to advertise to me was that i would have he best possible quote in the world without having to call up the many insurance agencies around me individually. In reality the fine print ( which in the case of the Internet can be 25 clicks hidden) states that they offer quotes from companies that pay them. Why not state that the information I'm giving them is a lead and that people that get it pay for my information and those that don't do not get it. What about some insurance company that can't afford to pay for my information but can offer me cheaper insurance than those that do pay hat site? I wouldn't be so ticked off if these sites simply stated that they sell our information. Rather than try to make it seem as they find you the best price. Can I get a driver's license without a car or insurance?
I'm older than 24 and never got around to getting a driver's license because I went to college at a young age. Now I have an opportunity to use my mom's insured car for a couple months, and I want to practice and get a driver's license, just so that I'll have the driving test out of the way (and won't feel so weird being this old without a license). However, I still don't plan to have a car, I'll be moving somewhere that I don't need a car, etc. I don't want to have to pay any insurance for having the license. Can I just get a permit and practice and take the driving test and get a license, without ever buying a car or auto insurance? And then I won't use the license, I'll just have it until it so happens that I might need to drive (perhaps use the insurance that you can buy along with rental cars, if I need to rent a car?). Also, I'm not sure if I'll be covered under my mom's insurance for permit driving because I am older than 24. I really don't know much about this. I just started looking into it about an hour ago. I've had an illness for a couple years that prevented me from driving but I'm getting better and thought maybe I should learn to drive now.""

Hi there guys, I am sorry if this is a boring run of the mill question with an obvious answer, but I am seriously confused! I have two prospect cars to chose between, one is a Honda Jazz, and one is a Ford Fiesta, now to my knowledge the Jazz's insurance group should be around 11-14, (new 1-50 ranking) and the Fiesta should be around 8. A number of sites have confirmed this to be true. But trying to get actual insurance quotes, the Jazz is coming out cheaper, by at least 300. Would a car from 2003 be very expensive for car insurance?
I plan on having a Honda Civic for a for a first car. Now I've looked at the 2001 Honda Civic, but I did some research and it turns out that I saw many complaints of transmission failure and other conflicts with the transmission. I also looked at the '02 and it still had bad complaints about the transmission. This gen of Civics didn't get better until 2003, where I found that it didn't have that many complaints. My question is, If i were to buy it for my first car would it be very expensive for car insurance. I also don't know which car insurance I have, and I don't have my permit yet, but soon I'll be getting it. One last question, How would you know if the rate would be expensive?""

34 Men Discuss Society’s Insane Double Standards That Favor Women And Hurt Men
Found on AskReddit.
1. If women sexually harass us, its seen as amusing rather than rapey.
One night in a bar, this incredibly drunk, incredibly skanky woman started fucking grinding on me while I was just trying to sit and drink a beer. Rubbing her gross vag all over my pant leg, and generally being disgusting and inappropriate. While this was happening, I thought If the roles were reversed, security would be tossing me out the door headfirst. Instead, people just laughed.
2. If you go anywhere in public with little kids, youre seen as a predator pedo.
Im a 19 y/o male, and I babysit my 3 and 6-year-old girl cousins often. Last time I babysat them, we played tag, then we had to go to the grocery store. The 3-year-old decided that she wants to play tag, and runs away from me, so I chase her down, playfully saying, I’m gonna get ya! in a funny voice cuz it gets her to laugh. A mom passes by and grabs my 3-year-old cousin, takes the 6-year-old, and goes to a manager. My aunt had to come down and tell them that I was watching them. That was the worse it’s been, but if I go anywhere in public with little kids, especially girls, I’m seen as a predator pedo.
3. If you and a girl both get drunk and have sex, only one can be accused of rape.
There was the anti-rape poster I saw a while back, where two teens get drunk and hook up. The dude gets busted for rape since she couldn’t give consent. The poster mentions nothing about it being the other way around, as in the girl getting busted for rape since he couldn’t give consent. The poster completely disregards the dude as a possible victim. It even goes as far as shaming the dude saying he ruined his life. Made me sick. All it did was promote male victims to want to hide even more.
4. Men are always the dumb ones on TV.
That men are always the dumb ones on TV. I grew up with three sisters and my mom, and I’ve always been disregarded as the stupid, out-of-touch male. Then, when I end up being right most of the time, I make a big deal about it and make everything worse, AND ITS THE TVS FAULT.
5. Women dont get blamed for dumping a man; when a man dumps a woman, hes afraid of commitment.
When a woman leaves a relationship she is praised for pursuing her needs, but when man leaves a relationship he is criticized for not being able to commit.
6. Female bisexuality is accepted. Male bisexuals? Theyre just gay.
How female bisexuality is more accepted and acknowledgedsometimes even encouragedthan male bisexuality.
7. Male genital mutilationtotally legal in every country.
Female genital mutilation: Totally illegal in most countries. Male genital mutilation: Totally legal in country.
8. If a woman gets angry at a man, its his fault.
Man gets angry at a woman, he needs to control himself. Woman gets angry at a man, man needs to learn not to make her angry.
9. Our society doesnt believe that women can sexually abuse boys.
It’s probably way too late for this to get any attention but I am a male victim of sexual abuse.
I was first sexually abused when I was four years old. It was swept under the rug because the 25-year-old that did it to me was going through some things and didn’t know any better.
Fast-forward to when I’m 9 and I was sexually abused every Friday for over a year and a half. I was told by my abuser that if I let anyone know, it would be my fault and I would get in trouble. One day I finally told, just wanting it to end even if I got in trouble. What happened? Both me (9) and my female abuser (23) were given a stern talking to. That was it. She went on to live her life. I never saw her again.
Every Friday I was locked in a room and bound. I would be left in the dark while I would have her perform oral (attempted since I was 9 and unable of getting an erection). She would pump me full of fluids and when I had to go to the bathroom she’d have me pee on her. At times she would pee into a cup and try to force me to drink it. If I was being more cooperative than usual she would untie my hands and have me touch her. At the end of every, I dunno what to call itsession?she would tell me that if I told anyone I would be taken from my parents. Even if they didn’t take me from my parents her dad who was a bad man would kill my mom and my sisters.
That is until I was 15 and made a Facebook. She found me on there and would leave comments like look who grew up sexy and stuff like that. I reached out to the adults in my life and they told me to ignore it, which I did. But they told me I was a guy and I could handle it. It’s not something that keeps me awake at night. But in order to get over it I had to harden myself because I’m a guy and guys can’t get raped.
On a previous reddit account I went to open up on a victims of sexual abuse page. I wrote out a multi-page post just getting it out there. The only replies I got were about how I was a guy and I didn’t know what it was like to be violated as a woman. I was harassed for weeks by women on there for trying to compare my experience to theirs.
10. Women can beat us up all they want, but if we hit back, were monsters.
I’m a big guy, I shave my head and grow a beard, most people think I’m intimidating.
Truly I’m timid at heart, I know how to box but have always found a way around confrontation.
I had a girlfriend that got crazy violent when she was mad, knives, tazers, guns, frequently got involved. I hit her a lot in self defense (we were together for 3 years it definitely played into my low self esteem, i loved to hate it) and it completely ruined my psyche. I think of myself as a woman beater, as a misogynist now just knowing that I’m capable of it.
Just the idea that I can hit a woman has driven me to some of my darkest depths and even now typing it I dont feel justified in my actions despite the fact I was protecting my own life.
One night she came at me with a tazer from behind she started it early and I had enough time to move, she tripped and stunned herself, screaming in pain, bruised her forehead hitting it against the floor. Neighbors heard and called the cops and she gave a false statement. Of course looking the way I do it didn’t matter what I said, I spent a night in holding before she dropped the charges and got me out. I guess I’m just thankful she “loved” me enough not to let me get charged with that shit.
It’s made me scared about new relationships because I’m afraid someone can just tell a cop whatever they want and I’ll get fucked.
Shit this will probably get buried but it was nice to say it. edit: this post blew up r.i.p. my inbox. appreciate all the support and kind words. pm me if you want to talk peeps.
11. Stay-at-home dads are lazy losers; stay-at-home moms are empowered heroes.
I’m a stay-at-home father because I’m taking care of my wife and I’s 2 year old son. My wife’s got a career that’s promising advancement and she works sometimes 12 hour days. I often get the Why doesn’t he have a job and He’s a deadbeat dad routine but if I was a woman I’m sure I’d hear about how mothers work so hard as housewives.
TLDR; Man stays home raises child = Lazy, Woman stays home raises child = Hardworking Hero.
12. If youre a male nurse, people think its because you couldnt become a doctor.
When a man is a nurse people think and many times say in their face Couldn’t become a doctor, huh?
13. If a girl sexually assaults you, youre supposed to enjoy it.
I was sexually assaulted by a girl when I was plastered once and kept saying no I don’t want this. Woke up feeling violated and insanely uncomfortable yet when I told people they all told me to suck it up and I should’ve enjoyed getting some action.
14. There are huge gender disparities in criminal sentencing.
That women who have sex with underage boys aren’t given the same sentences as men who do the same with underage girls.
15. If men show feelings, theyre seen as pussies.
I don’t like how if guys show feelings and emotions they’re some kind of pussy and if a chick does it’s normal. We are all humans and we all have the same emotions that aren’t good to bottle up.
16. Guys are still expected to be the breadwinner.
I don’t like that there’s still this idea that guys have to be the breadwinners and provide for families. Some guys are cool with being househusbands, and women are just as capable of bringing home the money.
17. If a man who murdered a woman spoke at a Mens March, itd be national news.
There was a speaker at the women’s march on Washington named Donna Hylton. She got up on stage and talked about how she had spent 25 years in prison (not mentioning why of course), and the audience cheered.
Turns out, she spent 25 years in prison because in 1985, she and a handful of other people kidnapped a 60-year-old man, tried to ransom him for $435,000, tortured him for three weeks (Hylton personally sodomized him with a metal rod), strangled him, and stuffed his body into a chest to decompose.
I can’t help but wonder how a man with an equivalent record would be received at the same event.
18. Women are allowed to reject guys based on their looks without being seen as shallow.
When I turn down chubby women I’m shallow, but I get turned down for being bald and it just her preference.
19. If a man cheats, hes an asshole; if a woman does, its the mans fault.
I hate the TV portrayal that if a man cheats its cause hes an asshole and heartless but if a women does its scandalous and its cause her husband must either treat her bad or is just never around.
20. Despite what Hillary Clinton said, men are the primary victims of war.
That men for some reason have to be soldiers in some countries while woman only .
21. Divorce laws are lopsidedly in favor of women.
Divorce law.
Women are entitled to alimony at a MUCH higher percentage, even when she’s the primary bread winner.
The idea that a divorced woman has the right to a standard of living consistent to when you were married is gross. No one is entitled to a standard of living, that’s life. That we can be divorced and I can lose my job but still have to pay to keep you living how we were when we were married and I was employed…its insane.
22. Sex toys for girlsnormal. Sex toys for guysweird loser.
When a girl buys a vibrator, its seen as a bit of naughty fun. BUT when a guy orders a 240 Volt FuckMaster Pro 5000 blowup latex doll with 6 speed pulsating vagina, elasticized anus with non-drip semen collection tray, together with optional built in realistic orgasm scream surround sound system, he’s called a pervert?
23. A guy who plays video games for hours has a problem; a woman who watches Netflix all night doesnt.
When I play 3 hours of video games I have a problem. When my wife watches 5 hours of Netflix every night its not a problem. Edit: I agree this is not a gender thing. Sorry about answering the question wrong. There is a double standard with gaming/television watching though.
24. Men are expected to just sit back and let women hit them. If they complain, theyre a pussy; if they hit back, theyre a monster.
Domestic Violence. I just got out of an abusive relationship two weeks ago and I’m shocked at how hard it was for me to talk about it and get taken seriously with my peers. She was so mean and I’m the exact opposite these days. Only today have I felt validated for everything when I happened upon a counselor on another thread. I feel terrible about myself still and apparently that’s normal. I’m 6’4″ and a professional bouncer/bodyguard but let me tell you. Men can be abused just as easily as women. It was so bad I’m spending my lunch break here and trying to find a support group. The abuse was mental and very physical. Because I’m a large man though no one would take me seriously. It was always my fault, always me to blame. The preconceived general thought is that men are tough and can handle it. If not then I’m made to feel emasculated and told I’m a pussy. The truth is I just don’t believe in harming people I care about. I’m ranting now because I still can’t really talk about it to anyone. It’s a sad and shitty double standard. No one should have to deal with abuse.
25. Part of being a man is being disposable and no one giving a fuck if your life ends up ruined.
That part of being a man is being disposable and no one giving a fuck if your life ends up ruined.
We hear talk all the time about the gender earnings gap, women’s right to bodily autonomy (via abortions and access to birth control), and other women’s issues, and those are all important things to discuss.
What we don’t hear as often is the fact that 84% of the homeless are men, 92% of workplace fatalities happen to men, 91% of people in prison are men, etc.
We talk about the subtle forms of discrimination in society that result in women choosing to pursue careers which don’t compensate them financially the same way that careers popular with men dobut we never talk about the subtle forms of discrimination that cause men to at a rate nearly an order of magnitude higher than women.
26. When a woman is raped its a tragedy; when a man is raped its a joke.
When a woman is raped its a tragedy; when a man is raped its a joke. When a woman falsely reports a rape, it ruins the man’s life, she gets off scot-free or a tiny jail term.
27. Men who take selfies are much more likely to be accused of narcissism.
I have to say that the standard of what is acceptable on social media. If a female Instagram profile is full of 400 attractive selfies, people are not as critical of the narcissistic side of the pictures as much as they would if it were a guy. Not that I would want to post 400 selfies, but constantly posting pictures of yourself in specific poses isn’t a form of modeling or self-love as much as it is an expression of narcissism.
28. Theres no demand for plus size male models.
How we apparently need plus sized models to represent all women’s body types, but the thought of having male models with beer bellies and no rippling muscles/6 packs is disgusting.
29. Women get shorter sentences for the same crimes as men.
Women who can’t pay child support go to special homes. Men who can’t pay child support go to prison.
Women get shorter sentences for the same crimes as men, such as murder, rape, theft, or simple misdemeanors. Sometimes they aren’t punished at all
If a drunk male and a drunk female have sex, the female could charge for rape since she could not consent even though both parties voluntarily intoxicated themselves. This isn’t a common problem but it happens more than it needs to
Female requirements for the military, police, and fire responders are easier. During basic training in the army I saw a dude carrying 2 rucksacks (google it) and a girl walking behind him with nothing on her back.
Male rape victims are ignored or taken less seriously
Sexual harassment in the workspace happens to men and to women, men are just less likely to report it since they’re taken less seriously.
There are female quotas for CEO jobs, which inadvertently puts more qualified men out of a job in the name of gender equality.
Men pay higher auto premiums.

30. Its not OK to think a girl is too fat, but its OK for her to think guys are too short.
Its not OK to think a girl is too fat, but its OK for her to think guys are too short.
31. If a guy cries or shows any emotion whatsoever, he’s weak or not masculine.
That if a guy cries or shows any emotion whatsoever, he’s weak or not masculine. Fuck that. Guys are humans, not robots. They should be as expressive with their feelings as they want with whoever they want. I’d argue that trying to repress your own vulnerabilities is the real weakness.
32. Women who make rape accusations are automatically believed, even if theyre lying.
I fucking hate it that a woman can accuse a man of rape, and everyone’s on her side without a doubt, even if she’s lying. Flip it around, and the first thing the guy gets thrown in his face is probably something like You’re supposed to enjoy it, or You let a woman take control of you? That’s more scarring to the man than it is to the womanat least people take the woman’s word for it.
33. On a sinking ship, its women and children first.
The biggest double standard to me is ‘saving the women and children first.’ Why does a man’s life suddenly have less value in these sorts of situations?
34. Pro-choice? Men have absolutely no choice in the matter.
If an unmarried couple becomes pregnant the woman has 100% of the choice to keep the baby or have an abortion. If the man wants the baby and the woman doesn’t the man is out of luck. If the man doesn’t want the baby and the woman does the man is on the hook for 18 years of child support. Controversial I know, but I’d like to hear thoughts.

There are female quotas for CEO jobs, which inadvertently puts more qualified men out of a job in the name of gender equality.
