This image is endlessly delightful to me. The first instinct is to say, as my friend put it, he has handfuls. But waist is lower down. Tits are a smidge higher up. Celebrimbor you have handfuls mostly of ribcage. Also he is yapping as if this is a normal part of conversation. Annatar looks like the colony rats in his lab just developed new, never before seen behaviors. If I walked into a room and saw this I would audibly say “that’s enough of this room for today” and turn around and walk back out. Clearly I am interrupting something, though what that something is is anyone’s guess.
Also there is obviously something queer going on here but it doesn’t even matter. We have transcended the use of queer in reference to sexuality and gone back to its original meaning. They are so fucking strange.
.
.
Goes without saying this image has boundless template potential and I WILL be doing this to my OCs

Guess who actually has to advertise their commissions because they plan to quit their job soon.

Yay /sar.
Just to get it out of the way, my pricing is subject to change, but I don’t for-see it growing that drastically in the near future. My pricing is NOT a baseline and should not be used to shame other artists for their pricing just because I make it cheap. This is how I view the value of the time and effort put into each commission, not the norm. Nor is it a representation of the final product’s quality. I don’t have bills to pay (being a minor fr) and I can get a commission done within three days for the most part, unless if I state otherwise. Please do not shame me or other artists for my pricing. Ty.
Pricing (all will be fully colored & “rendered”[if you can even call it that] unless requested otherwise):
Bust- $10
Waist up- $15
Full Body- $20 ~ {4 complicated poses, if you have a reference, only +$2, but if you don’t +$5}
Backrounds~ Plain color/Basic shapes- no extra cost ; Image backround- if you can supply, no extra cost, otherwise +$2 ; Scene- +$7
No coloring- -$3
Extra scene shading- +$3
Lineart~ Messy lineart/Cleaned sketch- no extra cost ; Clean lineart- +$2 ; Lineless- +$5
Extra character- +50% of price
Will Do:
Ocs, Fanart, (LEGAL) Ships, Furries (I'm not that good at it though)
(For original characters, I'm alright if you can't provide a full ref sheet. I am willing to take references from any character customizable game- including but not limited to Gacha, Picrew, Roblox, Minecraft, Animal Crossing, Pokemon, Papa's games, etc... As long as it's not AI)
Won't Do:
Animals, NSFW (except maybe gore), Fetishes, Hateful works, Problematic elements, Real people, anything involving AI
(I am entitled to deny any commission for any reason, so if you ask for something and I'm uncomfortable, even if it's not on this list, I can deny the commission.)
I take Cashapp as payment (I could take PayPal, but I would prefer not). The way the commission will work after you send the request is that half is paid up front. I'll send a low quality, watermarked sketch for you to approve. Once it's approved, the other half can be paid and I will finish the commission. I can be messaged on Discord at thelandofthefreaks (don't question it). If I don't respond within the day, reach out to me here. I might have just not noticed the message request👍
TYYY (≧▽≦)
Examples below cause I forgot to add them before {alt text is how I would classify it}-
Please, I’m desperate

your carrd is super cool! do you mind telling how you made it? it looks like its coded (aka i had NO idea you could make something like that in the app) and its vibe fucks ^^
Sure! The only two unique pages are the home page and cast page, so I'll just describe those real quick. If there is anything else you want to know about, I can elaborate on that too. This is my first time using carrd, so I'm really no expert here!
On the HOME PAGE, the background is a container with a parallax (which causes the scrolling effect). I also faked the homepage UI by making the text buttons images and adding a brighten effect when hovered over. "DEMON DETANGLED" is a separate image overlaid over everything.
The CAST page is a series of two-column containers. The writing is actually an image, with text in the alt text for screen readers. (saying this and realizing i forgot to put alt text on the other images!!! oh no!!!) This was mostly done to both save on how many assets I was using (since carrd only gives you 50) and also because I wanted everything to be written in that specific font. Unfortunately, I then got lazy, so only the cast page is written in it.
Anyway, no coding used! Just me fiddling with layouts.

Bestiaryposting Results: Miscellaneous Lizards
Slightly delayed, sorry. What happened there is I drafted it, looked at the time, thought I should give it a couple more hours to make sure everyone had time to post their stuff, and then... forgot to go back. Anyway.
Our second week of miscellany, where we have a bunch of the critters who didn't get their own entry grouped together. This one is the shortest, with just three lizards to look at.
If none of that made sense to you, you can find answers at https://maniculum.tumblr.com/bestiaryposting.
To see the entries for the three lizards in question, click here:
And to see next week's miscellany so you can participate, click here:
Without further ado -- and crossing our fingers that the tagging system is cooperating this time -- here are some lizards below the cut.

@coolest-capybara (link to post here) has drawn all three, along with a bonus... well, the post says it's a scorpion, but I thought those looked different... anyway. The smaller lizards are darling, and I think the celestial look of the Rukhgarukh came off really well here. (And thank you for providing alt text.)

@silverhart-makes-art (link to post here) has done some quality pencil sketches that also led me to learn cool things about the tuatara. I think the Nglushogog turned out particularly well here; the draconic vibe is interesting.

@cheapsweets (link to post here) has done a pencil sketch of the three -- I like the Nglushogog again here. The whole "lizard with the face of a frog" thing is honestly turning out more interesting than I expected. And hey -- in the bottom right -- what is that? Looks a bit like a scorpion to me.
@strixcattus (link to post here) has drawn some interestingly varied lizards, and included some nice lettering for us. I think this is the first one where the Hrutdearya really stands out to me -- it just looks so small & cute. As always, I recommend reading the linked post for Strixcattus's work, as she writes naturalistic descriptions to go with the illustrations -- I think the one for the Nglushogog is clever, and also hits pretty close to the mark in one particular way... we'll get to that.

@wendievergreen (link to post here) has drawn some very realistic-looking lizards by doing mashups between various Oregonian species. All extremely solid, in my opinion; I especially like the coloring on the Rukhgarukh. Also the exclamation point over the "scorpion" is a nice touch. More details in the linked post (and thank you for providing alt text).
So! Aberdeen bestiary.
This is actually just the illustration for Lizard. Which... I guess? Come on, monks, surely you've seen a lizard, what are you doing here? Why does it have that face?
Nglushogog
The Nglushogog gets no illustration of its own -- that single sentence describing it occurs in the intro to the brief "lizards" section. However, I can tell you that it is the botruca or botrax. (The entry uses both -- it mentions the "botrax" in a list of lizards at the start, then notes that the "botruca" is called that because it has a face like a frog.) This is not particularly helpful, however, because that is not a real lizard. The Medieval Bestiary website provides a little more information on it at this link here, and suggests that this was actually originally just the entry for a frog (or toad). This theory is supported by the fact that, according to the Aberdeen Bestiary, it is named after the Greek word for "frog". Which... close enough; Wiktionary tells me that Ancient Greek* for "frog" is batrakhos, and that seems plausible to me because we have the English word batrachian. (Even though Tumblr thinks we don't and has red-underlined it.) So probably somehow** "frog" turned into "frog-like lizard that has the same name as a frog".
*I'm specifically using the Ancient Greek forms here because I'm pretty sure those are the ones our authors would be most familiar with unless they happened to be writing from the Eastern Mediterranean.
** Looks like it might have been Isidore of Seville's fault, which... shocker. Or at least, he's the earliest source bestiary.ca has listed for that entry, and we know that he's where the Aberdeen Bestiary gets its etymological trivia, so it seems likely that he did that.
Hrutdearya
This is a very interestingly-stylized interpretation of "looking through a crack in a wall". Who built that little archway, and does it actually help with the sun-gazing?
Anyhow, this is the saura, which... well, I can't say it's not a real lizard, but it's also clearly the result of a misunderstanding. As we all know from (I assume) reading about dinosaurs, saura is just Ancient Greek for "lizard". So probably this was originally supposed to describe something all lizards do, and this bestiary turned it into a specific type of lizard.
Rukhgarukh
This one, as you can tell by it looking absolutely nothing like it, is a newt. It has stars on it because the Latin for "newt" is apparently stellio. It's possible that the artist did not realize it was supposed to be a newt. It's possible it wasn't supposed to be a newt originally, but I don't have time to look into that right now.
Anyway, that's lizards. Tune in next week for some snakes, a category to which the above legless critter apparently does not belong.

In regard to IDW1!Sentinel Prime’s repulsion towards romance, I legit thought his hatred of such concepts was meant to make him homophobic or along the lines of “ugh gay people”. Was there an instance of him also hating heterosexual romance or at least all kinds as well? The more I learn about Sentinel through this blog, the more I realize I’ve been missing out on a lot of things (and the more I am going to simp for him) 💦
Well, he doesn't go out of his way to say he thinks het relationships are gross too. It's normal that his comments would reminds us of homophobia as that's a sort of equivalent in our society, that's probably what's evoking, and I do call him homophobic as a joke but homophobia is ultimately a human concept. Sentinel is not homophobic because Cybertron as a society forgot the concept of gender, everyone is male by default, the only Cybertronian women are people like Arcee who are old enough to remember when women were a thing or the lugnodes who developed a concept of gender after traveling the galaxy. Sentinel says "only the terminally sentimental had sparkmates" he's not talking about homosexual relationships, he's talking about romance itself, which is mostly homosexual due to the society they live in.
And okay, yeah, Sentinel turns out to be quite old, he would have known about women, but still, it would be really weird that his problem with romance turned out to be that it isn't straight! That makes no sense! Not only he doesn't make any comments to indicate that's the issue, but Transformers don't have any of the material conditions that led to the development of homophobia in our societies. They're not human. They wouldn't have a concept of "straight" or "gay", if they were to put social constrains on attraction or were to taxonomize it, it would be based on something that has actual bearing in their society like class or alt mode.
Indeed, Skids flirts with Firestar even when he's still getting used to use she/her pronouns, people from the colonies, who never forgot about gender, get involved in both same and different gender relationships with no issue. And the colonies retain some of the bigotries of old Cybertron. There really isn't anything in the text to support the idea that homophobia would even be a concept for these people.
So if homophobia isn't the issue, then what the fuck is Sentinel's problem?
(Mtmte #56-57)
These are the instances where Sentinel displays... amatophobia, I guess. But is this just one example of a societal trend or does Sentinel have some very radical ideas? I think it's a bit of both.
This just doesn't sound like the kind of idea one develops in a vacuum, especially with how the language resembles real-world homphobia, I think it is meant to indicate that there used to be some sort of bigotry against romance.
Cybertronian society is just not amatonormative the way ours are, Brainstorm mentions that having a conjunx is rare and that's no surpsise. These people live so long, it's quite the commitment to attach yourself to someone for that lifespan. Though, the fact that both Skids and Getaway casually flirt with Firestar right after meeting her makes me think that casual romantic dalliances among Cybertronians are a thing. It doesn't expect monogamy or the kind of prioritizing our society demands. But that's just my headcanon and me projecting a bit, anyway.
A conjunx ceremony only requires the two people to be married and is carried out in private, but the fact that Rewind has Chromedome listed as his conjunx endura and this grants him the ability to make medical decisions for an unconscious Rewind shows that you can legally register a conjunx status and this grants you special rights much like a human marriage. Now, this is under Optimus' rule who is far more chill and maybe things were different under Sentinel.
Speaking of, here's a panel of officer Orion Pax during Zeta's time asking Tappet if the guy that was killed by the police was his conjunx and that it's totally okay if that's the case because they're totally not bigots anymore (OP #1)
More evidence for amatophobia being a thing when Sentinel was Prime (and given that this is Barber instead of JRo, two writers making reference to it make it a more solid piece of lore). But when exactly did conjunx endura gained legal status instead of being just a two-people arragement? It's hard to say, it could have been under Optimus, Zeta, maybe it was a thing under Sentinel but frowned upon, maybe it had always been a thing but it got outlawed under Nominus or Sentinel before getting restored under Zeta or Orion. Since the colonies do have a concept of conjunx endura, meaning it predates Nova's rule, my guess is that this amatophobia was a later development and that conjunxes had legal status before that being removed and later restored.
That being said, Sentinel does seem... radical in his beliefs. Look how he says in his time people had "peers and colleagues, associates", that sounds kinda impersonal, he doesn't use a word like friends. Surely, even if people thought getting involved in romance was weird, the average Cybertronian wouldn't have anything against the concept of friends. Sentinel kinda sounds like those super homophobic guys who are disgusted at any level of male intimacy because that's gay. I think Sentinel is particulary opposite to interpersonal relationships and an extreme example of the normal attitude.
That still doesn't answer why is he like this tho. If I had to answer what purpose does this bigotry serve, I think it has to do with how Cybertron developed this culture of "you're all cogs in the machine" for the benefit of the ruling classes. You should serve your purpose of making Cybertron great, it's an offense that you'd choose to give your devotion to a single, common Cybertronian instead of like, the planet or a Prime (Sentinel has not problem fanboying over Onyx Prime). Look at all the things Sentinel complains about, not just conjunxes doing PDA, he has a kinda fascist idea of what Cybertron should be, nice and orderly with a disregard for differences. Transformers don't have sexual reproduction or nuclear families, so romance doesn't serve The Powers That Be in any way and is just a display of individualism.
#let me tell you this is wild to write when i myself have such an issue with amatonormativity and the nuclear family#tf society sounds like a fantasy#but oh well transforming alien robots they have their own problems#also i cringe every time i have to write the sentence#cybertron forgot about gender#but what are you gonna do#quetzal rambles tf#actually i dare maintag this time#idw1#sentinel prime#transfromers

Refraining from posting any serious comments about my real thoughts about Agatha All Along, but I will say that last night for a long moment I forgot I was watching Marvel. And when I saw Rio moving post kiss, I genuinely thought she was dropping to her knees, not that Agatha was floating away 💀

Alt text: Rio (played by Aubrey Plaza) is clad in all black. Her face is level at this point with Agatha’s chest and her hands are reaching up and out to Agatha. Agatha’s hands are still holding Rio’s face, but all that is visible of Agatha (played by Kathryn Hahn) is her torso now.
#agatha all along#agatha harkness#rio vidal#agathario#I do in fact have many thoughts tbc but people are…too emotional rn for me to want to engage at this point#bad for my mental health!!#did that once in a fandom and never again lmfao#agatha all along spoilers

hello, I'm here to deliver fish to your inbox! a friend of mine loves fish, so it's become my go-to for anyone not feeling well
Usually it's one specific fish, but today I chose combtooth blennies in general. They're ray-finned fish and there's a whole bunch of cool species in this family (blenniidae)! Their pictures spoke to me, so here's a few examples:

This funky goober is a bluestriped fangblenny, or plagiotremus rhinorhynchos! It mimics specifically a young bluestreak cleaner wrasse, who cleans larger fish. But does the bluestriped fangblenny do the same? No! It's a little fucker, biting the big fish and running away. Not only that, but it's venomous, its venom containing opioids! They are known to bite even divers and are apparently even other fish in the reed try to mimic them

These buddies are snake blennies (xiphasia setifer) and they kinda look like eels! They got little saber teeth and usually bury in the sand, so you just see their heads sticking out. The one on the right seems real eager to get where he's going, what a cutie. Even though the continuous dorsel/anal/tail fin situation is messing with my head...

Neither of these had much info on them where I looked, but they were so cool-looking I had to include them!
On the left we have alticus anjouanae. One source says they're called rockskipper blennies in English, but I prefer the German name "Felsenhüpfer". It means the same thing, but sounds cuter to me ig?
On the right that's a molly miller blenny, scartella cristata. I know nothing about this one, but wikipedia specifies that it has "very large eyes" and I find that funny. They also look a little like they got hair
Despite the delay, I hope you enjoy this little collection of fish! Much love
sorry about there being no alt text for the last two images, it's 4 am and i could not figure out how to describe them for the life of me
forgot to post this the day I got it cuz I was on mobile
these are all fabulous funky fish, I appreciate them!

Lungs pushing up daisies - Alt ending
so this is an alternative ending, of what if everything that could go bad, went bad? this is for one comment that asked about it, so here you go! and also fueled by the fact that Argenti did not come home so, yeah :D im debating if i should post another work into the series with just this but i deemed it too short...let me know though if i should? as i am not sure and i thought here would work better LOL! special thanks to Grrrrain who helped me get the flow as well as inspired by some of their own sad hanahaki fic elements! a big inspiration!! click more to enjoy the ending! it follows up from the same fic but the last segment is...different! :D
[3:58]boothill:
What the heck was the name of that drink you got me?? Can’t fudgin’ find it anywhere here, got a mad itchin and i need to scratch it. you son of a nice lady, just had to get me a delicious one. Can’t believe I even forgot to go back and get that last forkin’ drop back at the hotel, what a waste.
Voice text converted into text
[3:59]boothill:
Also what kind of wine do ya like? I reckon it might be one of these red ones, but the guy is offerin’ me white champagne and what not…real fancy soundin stuff, they might be right up your alley.
Voice text converted into text
[4:24]boothill:
Too late rosey, i got you this red fudgin’ bottle instead of all the others! Darn son of a gun was trying to make me buy the lot of em, he kept on talkin’ and talkin’. Luckily i got somethin’ that always shut em up real quick.

Voice text converted into text [2:05]boothill:
Think ’m bout to see another knight of beauty, found myself at this lil ol’ station and people here are talking and ravin’ about this knight. Doesn’t sound too shabby, they’re sayin a bunch of stuff about bugs and what not…[intangible]-huh? Wait a forkin’ second…–red hair? [intangible] wait, oh shoot, ha! it is you! I can see your ship from here! Fudge, I had to park my forkin’ motor all the way on the opposite side–would you look at that! Wait, if you’re here then why haven't ya answered any of my texts?
Voice text converted into text [2:12]missed a call from boothill.
----
Boothill tsk’d as the phone call ended with a message about some darn fucking voice message mail box, wherein he would have thought the knight might have been busy or far away from cell service to receive his call, Boothill wouldn’t have bat an eye.
But Argenti’s ship stood right in front of Boothill, and he heard plenty of the folks on the station talking up a storm of how thankful they are for the current residing knight of beauty inside the ship.
“Ey! Rosey!” Boothill banged on the ship’s door, not too rough as he knew how Argenti cared about the exterior of his ship. Despite being a battle knight, Argenti went through many efforts to maintain the ship’s sleek look.
There was no answer.
Boothill was patient, he knew to wait for the right shot, to jump on his hunt. But his patience was a fickle friend, present only when he wanted it to be.
(not after he had heard of the knight getting possibly injured, not when Argenti, the man who’d speak up a storm, brimming with words, was this quiet. It had set his nerves on edge.)
Boothill, maybe overreacting, kicked at the door in frustration. A futile gesture against the unease festering in his gut.
But the door opened far too easily with a beep, enough for Boothill to realize it hadn’t been locked at all.
Realization struck him with grim certainty; if Argenti had been truly absent from his ship, he wouldn’t have left it wide open, right?
He frowned, and stepped in.
There was a silent lull inside, Save for the soft hum of machinery and the distant thrum of the engine in the distant background. Only the sounds of his steps, heavy boots clanging on the metal floor echoed. Boothill had the half mind to close the door behind him properly, before frantically walking around with a search for a pretty red rose.
“Argenti? Ya here?” he called out, quicking his pace. Boothill could already hear the scolding of his Pa for his hasty intrustion in his head.
The sight of the lounge brought back the memory of his stay, and how he woke up from such deep slumber to find himself nearly drooling on Argenti’s pillows.
But Argenti wasn’t there, so Boothill did not give it another thought as he turned.
He blinked at where Argenti’s personal garden of roses sat, surprised to find a new addition added to the side, and stood beside it, the small figure of a wooden carved horse that he had made. It sat right next to the pot, somehow like it belonged there, like it was associated with the daisies next to it.
The daisies, shockful arrays of white and yellow, sparkling somehow just like the roses. Not in the same way, but they had some sort of glow to them that Boothill found himself drawn to.
His hand hovered over them, and at once, he could recall how they felt once long before.
It evoked a memory, soft and easy to tear off, the bundle of rough blanket of wool had many of the petals stuck to it as he once carried a baby–his baby–out of the bed of daisies one sweltereing summer day.
Boothill remembered Argenti once asking him about daisies.
The knight was already a strange fellow, doing whatever he got in his mind when it was aligned with beauty and all that jazz, but it was even a little strange to Boothill. Oddly specific, Where did the fascination of the daisies come from?
Boothill turned once more, not sparing the daisies a second glance.
There was only one flower he was interested in.
"Rosey?" Boothill called out again, stepping into the dimly lit shadows of Argenti's bunk. The room was cloaked in darkness, illuminated only by the soft, shifting hues of the ship.
However, light sparked on at his mere presence, automated.
Revealing Argenti's blanketed figure, slumped over the bed in an unnatural curve.
His red hair sprawled from out of the cover like a wave of crimson river, his form held profound stillness that overturned the concern in Boothill’s heart into chilling dread.
(was he even breathing?)
"Argenti!" Boothill rushed forward, and at once he was hit immediately with the sharp smell of metal tang in the air that could not be hidden by the flora that always acquainted Argenti's.
blood.
He yanked the blanket off of Argenti, and reached to turn his body to face him all together in one motion. His mind raced with the urgency to assess the damage, aid whatever he could to slow down the bleeding of what might be wounds of the battle he was just in, and to call for help from the outside if they were grave enough to make the ever so preserved knight fall. But when he saw Argenti’s face, all action came to a screeching halt.
It was not an open wound, as Boothill had feared.
Boothill wished it was, as he stared at yellow daisies poking out of Argenti’s bloodied mouth.
“..Argenti?” his breath hitched as he called out again with a tremor in his voice, pulling the knight into his arms and watched in horror as Argenti’s head drooped, falling down heavily like a ragdoll.
“Hey,” Boothill said with crackling static, desperation creeping in, haunting realization, “wake up, this ain’t funny.”
Boothill reached to hold his face properly, cupping his pale cheek and ignoring the petal that cascaded its way down. He saw the pot of daisies by the roses, this was just a joke, a cruel joke from Argenti.
A cruel joke from the world.
The pallor of a skin, like a forgotten rose, Argenti’s complexion was ashen. Dried blood stained his lips and trailed down his chin, the front of his shirt, and daisies spilled over his mouth with the tremble of Boothill’s arms holding him, scattering between them and forgotten.
Boothill grit his teeth hard enough he could hear the metal, but everything was muted, numb to him as he curled over Argenti’s cold body. Boothill's fingers twitched in a pathetic attempt to hold Argenti gently, afraid to inflict more pain. The abscense of warmth was palpable, even without his senses.
“Please,” Boothill begged, to Argenti, to anyone. Pressing his ear against Argenti’s chest, despite clearly knowing and his breath caught on his throat with a cry he wasn’t able to shed.
It’s wrong.
“I love you.”
Argenti had confessed more than once, apparent with what he felt but Boothill ran away from it, from confronting it again, from ever mentioning it. He knew Argenti never moved on, it was obvious with the way the knight looked at him, held on to him, spoke to him, smiled at him that made that undeniable.
Boothill let it all unfold, endured the weight of Argenti’s affection with his own hidden beneath lies and pretend, thinking that this much was fine, as long as Argenti would be fine.
The corpse in arms beg to differ.
He should have ran away, he should have cut all contact, but like a fucking selfish weak idiot he was he stayed enough for Argenti to die.
If anyone should have died by this cursed thing, it should have been him.
“I warned you,” Boothill spat, hugging him closer, burying his face into the crook of his shoulder. He couldn’t even pretend when now he felt the cold of his corpse with the skin of his cheek pressed against Argenti’s neck. “Why, why did you keep…”
Loving me?
Boothill clenched his jaw, burnt with despair, “Ya shouldn’t have it! I still, i still–it ain’t possible so how!?”
His questions and anguished cries were met with silence.
Boothill had it first, he had been the one to first fall. He still loved Argenti despite it all, but he rejected him. All because he thought it was for the best.
He was the reason Argenti was now dead.
The devastating cost of his silence, of his lie, now laid bare in front of him.
The dull green eyes of Argenti’s corpse were devoid of his sparkle. The daisies covered with blood, the motionless sick stillness, a grotesque evidence that his life withered away long gone.
“I’m sorry,” Boothill choked on regret and sorrow, “im sorry, i’m sorry–”
He could only cradle Argenti’s corpse close to him, whispering his love into the void.
“I love you, i still love you.”
But his words fell on deaf ears, swallowed by the silence of loss.

i was gonna do that thing where you post your to-do list and update it as you go through it but um. i forgot to hit post and then did all the things on it that i wanted to share. so.
BUT i have now completely modeled the interior of the escape pod, including the bathroom and the door handles, all to real-life scale (or as close as i can get it), planned out the layouts for the rest of the pages in chapter 2, and have written the ALT text and scheduled the post for patrons coming out this weekend
TL;DR: chapter 2 of the lost will be out in mid-December :)

How to Use Tumblr to Improve Website SEO
Key Takeaways

Creating a properly optimized Tumblr profile helps establish brand consistency
Strategic keyword use in tags and posts increases discoverability
Tumblr can generate valuable backlinks to your website
Visual content performs exceptionally well on the platform
Engagement with the Tumblr community amplifies your SEO benefits
Cross-promotion between Tumblr and other platforms maximizes traffic
Regular analysis of metrics helps refine your Tumblr SEO strategy

Why Tumblr Still Matters for SEO
Ever wonder why some websites seem to appear everywhere while yours is stuck on page 10 of Google? The answer might be hiding in an unexpected place — Tumblr. Yep, that platform you probably forgot about is actually a secret SEO weapon that many smart marketers are using to boost their rankings.
Tumblr ain’t just for fandoms and aesthetic blogs anymore. With over 496 million blogs and a domain authority score of 98/100, Tumblr gives your content serious SEO juice. When you post on Tumblr, you’re basically getting a vote of confidence from one of the internet’s most trusted platforms.
What makes Tumblr special? First, it’s got this unique mix of social media and blogging that search engines absolutely love. Each post creates another indexable page that can rank for your keywords. Plus, the reblog feature means your content can spread organically, creating natural backlinks and social signals that tell Google “hey, this stuff is worth looking at!”
The platform also has stayed relevant by adapting to changing user habits. Unlike other platforms that force rigid formats, Tumblr lets you post pretty much anything — from long articles to GIFs, videos to audio clips. This flexibility means you can repurpose your website content in multiple formats, hitting different search intents.
“I started using Tumblr as part of my SEO advantage strategy last year, and my organic traffic increased by 34% in just three months,” says one digital marketer who discovered the platform’s hidden potential.
Setting Up Your Tumblr Profile for SEO Success
Getting started with Tumblr for SEO isn’t complicated, but there’s definitely a right way to do it. First things first — your username and URL structure matter a ton. Don’t go with something random like “coolblogger123.” Instead, choose a username that matches your brand name or includes your main keyword.
Your Tumblr URL should look something like yourbrand.tumblr.com or keyword-focus.tumblr.com. This consistency helps searchers and search engines connect your Tumblr presence with your main website.
Next up is your Tumblr bio. This little section is prime real estate for SEO! Make sure to:
Include your main keywords (but don’t stuff them)
Write naturally about what your brand does
Add your website URL with proper https:// format
Use relevant hashtags that your audience searches for
The bio section also lets you verify your website, which creates that crucial link between your Tumblr and main site. This verification tells search engines that both properties belong to the same entity, passing authority between them.
Now let’s talk about theme customization. The default Tumblr themes are fine, but for maximum SEO benefit, you’ll want to customize:
Title tags for your main page and individual posts
Meta descriptions that include relevant keywords
Proper heading structure (H1, H2, etc.) in your posts
Alt text capabilities for images
Mobile responsiveness (super important for SEO!)
“When I set up my Tumblr, I made sure to include proper schema markup in my custom theme,” notes a content creator who uses AI tools to create semi-automatic newsletters. “It helped search engines understand my content better and improved my rich snippets in search results.”
Don’t forget to connect Google Analytics to your Tumblr! This integration lets you track how visitors find and interact with your Tumblr content, giving you valuable data to refine your strategy.
Creating Content That Ranks: Tumblr Post Optimization
Now for the fun part — creating content that actually ranks. Tumblr’s got this unique vibe that rewards authentic, creative posts while still following SEO best practices. It’s all about finding that sweet spot.
Visual content absolutely DOMINATES on Tumblr. Images, GIFs, and videos get way more engagement than text-only posts. But don’t just throw up random pictures! Here’s how to optimize visual content:
Use descriptive filenames before uploading (keyword-focus-image.jpg)
Add alt text with relevant keywords
Include a caption that naturally incorporates your target phrases
Make sure image dimensions are optimized for both Tumblr and mobile viewing
When creating text posts, you’ve got more flexibility for keyword placement. But remember, Tumblr users hate obvious SEO content that feels robotic. Instead, try:- Opening with an engaging question or statement - Naturally weaving keywords throughout the content - Breaking up text with subheadings (that include secondary keywords) - Using bulleted or numbered lists for scanability - Ending with a call to action that encourages engagement
The secret weapon of Tumblr SEO? Tags. Unlike hashtags on other platforms, Tumblr tags are POWERFUL search tools. You can use up to 30 tags per post, but 10–15 targeted ones usually work better. Mix specific and broad tags, including:
Your brand name
Primary keywords
Related long-tail keywords
Trending topics in your industry
Community tags where your audience hangs out
“I noticed that posts where I used specific long-tail keyword tags consistently outperformed those with only broad tags,” shares an entrepreneur who uses AI content writing techniques to scale their production.
Another unique opportunity on Tumblr is the “Ask” feature. By encouraging questions from followers, you generate user-generated content that often contains natural search phrases people use when looking for information in your niche. These questions and your answers create additional indexable content.
Building a Strong Backlink Strategy ThroughTumblr
Backlinks still reign supreme in SEO, and Tumblr is a goldmine for building them. The trick is creating content that naturally attracts links rather than just self-promoting.
Let’s talk about link-worthy content types that perform best on Tumblr:
Original infographics: Visual data is highly shareable and rebloggable. Creating simple infographics about trending topics in your industry can spread like wildfire across Tumblr and beyond.
Resource collections: Curating the best tools, articles, or resources in your niche positions you as an authority. Other blogs and websites often link to these collections as references.
Opinion pieces: Taking a unique stand on industry issues creates discussion and attracts attention from other content creators looking for supporting viewpoints.
Tutorials and guides: Step-by-step instructions with visuals help people solve problems and are frequently linked to as solutions.
When linking back to your main website, don’t just dump links everywhere. Tumblr users (and search engines) can spot spammy linking a mile away. Instead, follow these practices:
Use varied, natural anchor text (not always your exact keyword)
Link contextually within valuable content
Target specific, relevant landing pages on your site
Space out your links across multiple posts
Balance linking to your site with linking to other valuable resources
“I created a content cluster to dominate SEO using Tumblr as one of my supporting platforms,” explains an SEO specialist. “By strategically linking between my main site content pillars and related Tumblr posts, I strengthened the topical authority of both properties.”
Remember that backlinks aren’t just about direct links to your website. When other Tumblr users reblog your content, they’re essentially creating a form of link that passes value. That’s why creating highly shareable content matters just as much as your direct linking strategy.
Growing Your Audience to Amplify SEO Benefits
A Tumblr blog with no followers is like a billboard in the desert — technically visible but not doing much good. Building a genuine following amplifies every SEO benefit by increasing engagement signals that search engines notice.
First, understand that Tumblr has its own unique community culture. Users value authenticity, creativity, and genuine interaction. Unlike LinkedIn or Twitter, overly professional or sales-y content often fails here. Instead, focus on:
Showing personality and a distinctive voice
Sharing behind-the-scenes glimpses of your brand
Creating content that sparks emotion or discussion
Participating in platform-specific trends and challenges
The reblogging feature is Tumblr’s secret engagement superpower. When you reblog relevant content from others (adding your own perspective), you:
Get noticed by the original poster and their followers
Demonstrate that you’re an active community member
Create content without starting from scratch
Build relationships with potential collaborators
“I spend about 15 minutes each day just engaging with my Tumblr community,” notes a blogger who uses 6-step content creation processes with AI tools. “That small investment pays huge dividends in terms of follower growth and content distribution.”
Hashtags aren’t just for optimization — they’re for discovery too. Following and participating in relevant hashtag communities connects you with users already interested in your topic. Some strategies include:
Joining hashtag challenges relevant to your niche
Creating weekly themed content using established hashtags
Monitoring hashtags for questions you can answer with helpful content
Using a mix of popular and niche-specific tags
Cross-promotion between platforms creates a traffic multiplier effect. Don’t keep your Tumblr isolated! Integrate it with your broader strategy by:
Sharing your Tumblr posts on other social platforms
Adding Tumblr follow buttons to your website
Including snippets of Tumblr content in your email newsletter
Creating platform-specific content that encourages followers to check out your other channels
Tracking and Measuring Your Tumblr SEO Performance
You can’t improve what you don’t measure. Setting up proper tracking for your Tumblr SEO efforts lets you double down on what’s working and fix what isn’t.
Start with the basics — Google Analytics integration. This gives you insights into:
How much traffic Tumblr sends to your website
Which specific Tumblr posts generate the most referrals
User behavior after arriving from Tumblr (bounce rate, time on site, etc.)
Conversion rates from Tumblr traffic compared to other sources
“After analyzing my Google Analytics data, I realized that visitors from Tumblr spent 43% more time on my site than average visitors,” shares a business owner who focuses on building profitable AI automations.
Beyond basic analytics, track these Tumblr-specific metrics:
Note count: This combined measure of likes, reblogs, and comments shows overall engagement.
Follower growth rate: Sudden changes can indicate content that’s particularly effective (or problematic).
Tag performance: Which tags bring the most views and engagement to your posts?
Peak engagement times: When are your followers most active and responsive?
For more serious SEO analysis, use tools like Ahrefs, SEMrush, or Moz to track:
Backlinks generated through your Tumblr strategy
Keyword rankings for Tumblr-specific content
Domain authority improvements over time
New referring domains attributed to your Tumblr efforts
Create a simple monthly report combining these metrics to spot trends and adjust your strategy. Are certain content types consistently outperforming others? Does Tumblr traffic convert better for specific products or services? Use these insights to refine your approach.
Avoiding Common Tumblr SEO Mistakes
Even experienced marketers make mistakes when using Tumblr for SEO. Let’s look at the most common pitfalls and how to avoid them.
Mistake #1: Over-optimization Just like anywhere else, keyword stuffing and unnatural link placement will hurt more than help. Tumblr users are particularly sensitive to content that feels artificial or manipulative. Instead, focus on creating genuinely valuable posts that naturally incorporate your target keywords.
Mistake #2: Content duplication concerns Simply copy-pasting the exact same content from your website to Tumblr can trigger duplicate content issues. Instead, try:
Rewriting content with a different angle or voice
Creating “teaser” content that links to the full article
Transforming written content into visual formats for Tumblr
Adding Tumblr-exclusive commentary or insights
“I made the mistake of just duplicating my blog posts on Tumblr at first,” admits a content creator who now uses automated content creation strategies. “When I started creating platform-specific versions, my engagement shot up by 67%.”
Mistake #3: Inconsistent branding Your Tumblr should feel like part of your broader brand ecosystem. Inconsistent logos, colors, voice, or messaging confuses users and dilutes SEO benefits. Create style guidelines specific to Tumblr that maintain your core brand identity while adapting to the platform’s unique culture.
Mistake #4: Ignoring mobile optimization Most Tumblr users browse on mobile devices. If your custom theme looks great on desktop but breaks on phones, you’ll lose engagement and SEO value. Test your Tumblr thoroughly on multiple devices, and prioritize mobile experience when making design choices.
Mistake #5: Irregular posting schedule Sporadic activity kills Tumblr momentum. Even if you can’t post daily, establish a consistent schedule that your followers can count on. Use scheduling tools to maintain presence even during busy periods.
Integrating Tumblr Into Your Overall Digital Strategy
Tumblr works best when it’s not isolated but integrated into your broader marketing ecosystem. Let’s explore how to make Tumblr a cohesive part of your digital strategy.
Start by defining Tumblr’s specific role in your content ecosystem:
Is it primarily for reaching new audiences?
For nurturing existing community members?
For highlighting specific products or services?
For establishing thought leadership in your industry?
Based on your goals, create content workflows that leverage Tumblr’s strengths while complementing your other channels. For example:1. Publish in-depth article on main website 2. Create visual summary version for Tumblr 3. Share Tumblr post on Twitter/Facebook 4. Gather questions from Tumblr comments 5. Answer those questions in future website content
This cyclic approach creates a self-reinforcing content ecosystem that maximizes the SEO value of each piece.
“I use Tumblr as part of my content automation tools strategy,” explains a digital marketer. “My team creates core content for our main site, then automatically adapts portions for Tumblr with the right formatting and tags.”
Consider creating platform-specific content series that give followers a reason to check each of your channels. For example, “Behind the Scenes” content might live on Tumblr, while your website hosts more formal case studies on the same projects.
Finally, use Tumblr as a testing ground for content ideas before investing heavily in them. The platform’s quick feedback loop lets you gauge interest in topics, formats, or angles before developing comprehensive website content.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Tumblr still relevant for SEO?
Yes, Tumblr remains highly relevant for SEO with its strong domain authority (98/100), large active user base, and unique content format that search engines value. The platform continues to provide significant SEO benefits through backlinks, content indexing, and social signals.
How many posts should I publish on Tumblr each week?
Quality matters more than quantity, but consistency is key. For most businesses, 2–4 posts per week strikes a good balance between maintaining presence and ensuring content quality. Analyze your engagement metrics to find your optimal posting frequency.
Can I just repost my website blog content on Tumblr?
It’s better to adapt your content for Tumblr rather than directly duplicating it. This prevents potential duplicate content issues and creates a better user experience. Reformat your content with more visuals, different headings, and platform-appropriate voice.
How long should my Tumblr posts be for optimal SEO?
Tumblr accommodates diverse content lengths, but most successful posts fall into two categories: short-form visual content with 50–100 word captions or longer text posts of 300–700 words. Include your target keywords naturally regardless of length.
How do I measure the SEO impact of my Tumblr strategy?
Track referral traffic from Tumblr to your website, backlink acquisition, keyword ranking improvements, and engagement metrics on Tumblr itself. Use Google Analytics for traffic data and SEO tools like Ahrefs or SEMrush for backlink and keyword analysis.
Should I create multiple Tumblr blogs for different keywords or topics?
For most businesses, maintaining a single, strong Tumblr presence is more effective than diluting efforts across multiple blogs. If you have distinctly different business divisions or target audiences, separate blogs might make sense, but ensure each receives adequate attention.
What’s the best way to include links back to my website?
Include links contextually within valuable content, vary your anchor text naturally, and don’t overlink. Aim for 1–2 links per post maximum, and make sure they lead to highly relevant pages on your website that truly extend the value of your Tumblr content.
How important are tags for Tumblr SEO?
Tags are extremely important on Tumblr, serving both as internal search tools and SEO signals. Use 10–15 relevant tags per post, including a mix of broad keywords and specific long-tail phrases. Research popular tags in your niche for better discoverability.

Bestiaryposting Results: Raggfong
This week's beast was the Raggfong, much to the dismay of everyone who is sick of birds. Again, sorry, there are a bunch... and the random distribution put a clump of them in December/January, so it's going to get worse before it gets better. If it helps, imagine it's some kind of ritual to empower the birds currently eating the Gävle goat. Or maybe a "Twelve Days of Christmas" sort of thing -- we've already had the partridge.
Also again please forgive me if I fail to string sentences together properly -- still sick. Covid, actually, turns out. The brain fog is difficult; almost forgot I was supposed to do this today.
Anyway, here is the link to the entry that our artists are working from:
(Why did I redact the Greek and Latin names for the coot? I'm not making any effort to hide its identity... baffling choice on the part of Past Me.)
And if you have no idea what this is about, you should take a look at https://maniculum.tumblr.com/bestiaryposting for an explanation and previous entries.
As usual, art will appear in roughly chronological order under the cut.

@elodieunderglass (link to post here) responded days before anyone else with this image, which successfully conveys a lot of emotion in my opinion. Those are some very communicative facial expressions on the birds. I particularly like the coot, and how it's positioned to shield the chick from the sun. The real gem here, however, is the text of the post linked above, which I would describe as a prose poem about the bird depicted. I'm genuinely a bit blown away by it -- go click the link and read it for yourself.
@embervoices (link to post here) has got some kind of effect going on here that I don't know enough about art to describe, but I like the way it looks. Her post mentions the phoenix connection, which I think comes through pretty clearly in the design and pose. The linked post explains some design decisions, including which real-world birds were the inspiration for this one.

@silverhart-makes-art (link to post here) helpfully specifies that this Raggfong is resting on a bed of sea kale. The design of this bird is very good, I think, conveying a certain gravity one does not always associate with seabirds. I also like the effect created by the background; it kind of looks like it's the cover for something, you know? The linked post explains the various birds from which the artist borrowed features and why, and also discusses the evocative nature of the entry this is based on -- I'm glad people are enjoying that aspect.

@rautavaara (link to post here) has made the executive decision that this bird is actually a frog, and the drawing is frankly too pretty for me to have any kind of problem with that. Look at that border. And the wonderful color palette. Also there's a flying frog, which is very cool.

@cheapsweets (link to post here) notes an emerging theme in these entries that birds (except coots) are jerks. I honestly can't remember how consistent that theme is across all the birds... I know there are some the author likes, but there are also definitely going to be additional Birds That Are Jerks in future. I like the crown-like crest on the Raggfong, and I'm impressed by the dedication involved in doing all those little body feathers with a fountain pen. Also, if you look closely, you'll see that one of those chicks the adult Raggfong is carrying has been shown staring off in the same direction as its parent, while the other has its head turned and its eyes closed, meaning we can expect it to join the coots off to the right... and there's already a young Raggfong there, too. The linked post contains a detailed explanation of design decisions, which you should go check out. (Also, thanks again for providing alt text.)

@coolest-capybara (link to post here) has employed her usual medieval stylization to depict a Raggfong inspired by an albatross (on the grounds that they are a seabird with "judgy" eyes... you know, I can see it). I am absolutely delighted by the scrungliness of the chick being shown here, which does indeed have the "muppet made from dryer lint" quality of a real albatross chick. They have also included a series of pictures that show the whole life cycle, which I've decided (after substantial back-and-forth) to not copy over here as there's a certain color-of-the-sky quality there, but which I strongly encourage you to click on the link and look at for yourself. I particularly like that the coot in the "life cycle" picture appears to have a couple Ilyechams in her flock in addition to the new Raggfong.

@moustawott (link to post here) describes their Raggfong as a gannet mixed with an eagle, and it looks pretty majestic, honestly. The background really enhances that effect, and I think it makes a much more entertaining contrast with the two little chicks being carried below. There's a certain severity to the design that I think is fitting.

@pomrania (link to post here) has ditched the whole "coot" thing for a more direct interpretation of the Raggfong's "common counterpart", which they deem the "Ritchfong". I kind of like the idea of two related species of bird that the human observer has interpreted to have class divisions. The crest on the Raggfong is also a very appropriate touch, I think. The linked post contains additional detail on design decisions, and links to some process images, so go check that out.

@treesurface (link to post here) has decided that the Raggfong should actually be a sort of insect that people mistake for a bird, which I think is quite clever. They explain their reasoning for that a bit more in the linked post, along with some other notes on design and execution that I think are worth reading. I really like the concept that the "unmoving wings" are elytra, and the kind of glittering quality that they suggest here. (I also appreciate that they provide their own alt text.)
@karthara (link to post here) has drawn a Raggfong in several scenarios to express the behavior described in the entry. I really like the overall design here, with the feathery tufts on its head. Also charming is that one flying up near the sun -- it looks so happy to be on fire. The linked post explains the design decisions and the real-world birds from which karthara has taken inspiration. They also mention they included the coot chicks after looking them up and seeing how colorful they are, so I did a quick google and found this great headline:
(Tl:dr coot parents show preference for more colorful chicks, so the later the chick hatches, the more colorful it is, allowing it to compete with its larger, older siblings for food and attention.)
And finally, the Aberdeen Bestiary depiction:
The one diving into the basin just looks so goofy to me, sorry. Anyway, as I'm sure everyone has guessed, this is the eagle.
Yeah. I know. The whole "fiery rebirth" thing sounds like it should be the phoenix, but this bestiary has an entry for "Phoenix" and it's not this one.
Regular listeners to the Maniculum Podcast may recall this particular eagle behavior coming up before, in the quiz-show episode we did for the second part of "Sidrak & Bokkus". I still don't really know where this idea comes from, but there you go. Eagles.
I feel like there's some kind of comment that could be made over the lack of compassion shown by the medieval eagle here and, you know...

... but I can't quite formulate it, so you'll have to write your own.
Anyway, see y'all next week for our next beaſt.

Twst Bday wishes from Idia and Rollo
I forgot that each boy has different wishes that they'll give the player each year so I meant to swap my favorite card to Rollo before the birthday I set in game came up. (I have it set to my oc-inserted-into-yuu's place since I didn't want to worry about possibly missing it if I'm ever too busy on my real birthday.)
I then saw Idia's birthday wishes to the player, realized it was different than last time when I was done reading, then almost panicked thinking I forgot to screenshot it. Before I could actually worry, my memory did me a favor and remembered birthday wishes to the player are kept in the album under misc. stories.
I checked that, screenshotted Idia's wishes, checked if the previous year had Rollo or not, then screenshotted Rollo's wishes. Rollo doesn't have any birthday wishes under the second year, which makes enough sense to me.
This is so sweet, I would hope I'd like whatever he shares because I don't know what I'd do with that stuff if I ended up not caring for any of them.
As for my character, Bobo, I suppose she actually has something besides text books to read now. The question is if she'll actually let herself read them or feel like she has to read all of the school's text books in order to understand the world of Twisted Wonderland better. (Idia and Ortho are probably the strongest candidates to introduce her to games and just having fun. She's basically a work-a-holic who's guilted herself into barely doing leisurely things.)
I could see Bobo jokingly asking him if he brought her a present, but then she'd try to reassure Rollo that he doesn't have to get her anything. Maybe even say that she'd be happy with anything he got her if he protested. Anyone else think Rollo would take that as a challenge? Why I bet Rollo could get as competitive as the NRC boys and try to get the player the best present ever if he were to learn that Malleus is giving the player a birthday gift. Or maybe even just realizing the player will be getting gifts from NRC boys in general.
In the alt. image descriptions I typed exactly what the dialogue boxes say but maybe I should have changed out "Bobo" for "Player Name"? Is that something I should do?
#twst related#idia shroud#rollo flamme#twst rollo#twst idia#twst player birthday#twst birthday#twst screenshots#i would offer to make posts that screenshot each of the boys birthday wishes to player#as references to other players and people who dont have the game#but videos of these scenes are probably better#since i didnt include the indicated reactions from yuu since their isnt a good way to screenshot that#plus i dont want to try to screenshot every little posture change#i bet someone on youtube has uploaded these scenes#ive seen some videos of events being uploaded so anyone wanting those type of stuff for references should check youtube

Goodbye Volcano High is just a week away! Yippee! To celebrate this occasion I will release GVH protagonist first-date ratings part 2, in which I rate how well my first dates with GVH characters will go based on what I know about them from fandom memes and promo materials. Part 1 can be found here. Contains spoilers for JoJo's Bizarre Adventure part 6, and now featuring alt text.

I think Naomi would be the type of person who would provide me with a full list of philosophical personal questions on our first date in order to acertain a comprehensive first impression of me that accurately represents who I am. For example, she may ask me what I would do with an elephant in my possession if I could not sell or give away the elephant, which was apparently a real job interview question someone had. While I would undoubtedly appreciate her hard work, I will not guarantee that I won't accidentally give out a response so profoundly disturbing and strange at some point during the process and possibly make her cry (for example, answering that I wish to recreate Thomas Edison's elephant electrocution procedure just to prove that I can do it better), leading to an overall 5/10 experience.

Much like the Trish date, I suspect that my date with Rosa will take place at an arboretum due to her interests. Because of this, I will likely be reminded of the fact that I once went to an arboretum in China during my childhood, to cheer me up after I completely failed at an extracurricular English speaking competition due to stage fright and the fact that I forgot to study the prompts they gave out before hand. I will then give an extended speech to Rosa about how my years of hard work studying English didn't matter in that moment because I fucked up one high-stakes competition and everyone thought I was a dumbass. If Rosa is able to relate to this as a potentially bilingual character herself, then my date will be a 9/10 experience. Otherwise, it's likely a 4/10 if she got weirded out instead.

Stella's interest in the occult is a major jumping point for my first date conversation with her, as I will use her knowledge of Tarot cards to discuss archetypes in the classic Hero's Journey and possibly analyze how each card's meaning corresponds to their respective Stand user in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. If Stella does not like JoJo's Bizarre Adventure then I will reveal the fact that I do not either and then go into an existential rant on why Part 6's ending retroactively made all the other parts pointless by undermining the agencies of previous protagonists with the idea of Fate being an unstoppable force that pre-determines all actions. Overall, this will be an invigorating discussion if nothing else. 7/10.

I don't know why but attempts at adding Sage's image to this post consistently results in an image of Rosa being added instead. Sage himself does show up on the final post after saving, but during the editing process itself his image keeps being replaced by Rosa. My conclusion from this is that Sage does not want to go on a date with me and may in fact prefer to date his original love interest Leo instead. I respect his loyalty to his lover even after he has been completely cut from the final game and thus functionally erased from existence. Sage is a good boy and I love him platonically. 10/10.
