Last night I was dreaming about the game Date Everything!, which is a dating game about gijinkas a.k.a. humanizations of household items. In my dream there was this one guy that I was struggling to figure out what item he’s supposed to be.

It didn’t help that he was dressed like a regular dude and I didn’t have his name. Of course my dream fumbled trying to properly match the game by having this man just always in human form. Though for whatever reason he stayed seated on the ground, leaning against the fireplace.

Just before my alarm woke me up I finally learned what he’s supposed to be. My dream made up a gijinka that’s Cracked Foundation.

The English server only gave the event four days! Even with Riddle and Silver chefs cards giving drop boosts, it didn't feel like I was getting much more ingredients at all. (Which as I think about it, 1.2x just means like +0.2% drop rates? Like it's a very small bonus amount...)

I did notice the difference of how many points we were getting each tier which did help a little. Previously low tier gave +4%, now 6%. Medium tier gave +8%, now 12%. High tier gave +12%, now 16%. So low got 2% more, medium tier got 4% more, and high tier got 4% more for each meal made.

The most annoying thing about the culinary crucible events for me are how the different time lengths don't really feel like they give appropriately different amounts of ingredients. I spent three days just using the longest and then the second longest times, (150 and 360 minutes), and I was only able to afford a single regular key.

I already know that the shortest time, twenty minutes, is the best option but I don't enjoy sitting by having to collect and send them off every twenty minutes. I decided to crunch this on the last day, just running the shortest time, and I was able to get another single regular key.

The regular keys cost 350 tokens. It feels absurd that three days of the longest times gave me roughly the same amount of ingredients that half a day of the shortest time did. This isn't balanced at all. It's also just mean to anyone who doesn't have the time to sit and deal with this every twenty minutes for however long it takes to get all the nice rewards one may want from the shop.

I thought part of the reason for the epilogue goal to be 1,000 tokens before being connected to the shop costing 1,000 tokens for the chef-related SR keys, but they cut the epilogue goal to 500 while in shop it's still 1,000 tokens. So at least story-wise it's easier...

Oh also one small note, the event this time seemed to have a bug? Upon hitting the 500 tokens and after seeing the epilogue is when I ran into this bug. Whenever I'd cook I'd see some random number from 490 and above along before it runs up to max out at 500. Luckily it did not replay the epilogue, but upon seeing this token thing it booted me out to the event's main page.

Which means it made cooking even more annoying as after each meal I had to reenter the cooking page, select the meal, and cook it. This event is already annoying with how one has to manually cook each meal instead of giving an option to cook several low/medium/high tier meals as long as you have enough low/medium/high tier ingredients.

Not enough time for this event, usually it feels longer like a week or two is given, not four days. I'm really annoyed that I can only get two regular keys and probably one starshard from all this.

Oh incase future culinary crucible events give the same amount of points it did this time, I've figured out that one should use low tier ingredients until hitting 42%. Then the least amount of using medium tier ingredients is up to 66%.

Which would roughly be cooking each meal on 7 or 8 low ingredients, 2 or 3 medium ingredients, and 2 or 3 high ingredients.

Edit: At the start it said four days, yesterday it said one day left so I thought it was the last day, then today it says until 23:00 or something along those lines.

That type of wording really trips me up and I haven’t been paying attention to how many days it actually has been. I guess the event is five days long or I’m completely lost and it’s now the fourth day?? If it has been four days then that means two days instead of three days of the longest times were roughly equal to a half day of the shortest times for drop amounts…

potentially a silly question but... are you also struggling with grinding rewards for this culinary crucible re-run? it seems they have shortened the event duration in half yet the rewards are still proportional to the og event. usually i am able to get the sr key and the other keys; this time i will be lucky to get the sr key alone. i have looked through the announcement and saw no explanation for this change so i am a bit confused.

I mentally checked out of the EN rerun since I already went through this in the JP server 💀 I’m just mindlessly grinding for the 3 keys and then dipping.

The Culinary Crucibles/Master Chef reruns are unfortunately just… like this 🧍‍♂️ JP (which has been doing these reruns for a while now) also had their CC/MC event durations cut in half, but to compensate for this, they made it easier to gain recipe skill points (the number you see after the + in purple). For example, you’d only gain +4% skill in the OG run when starting off, but it has changed to +6% skill for the 1 star dish bracket. (Medals earned per recipe, however, is still capped at 30.)

I noticed that the EN rerun only requires you to get a total of 500 medals in order to see the event epilogue. JP still had the 1000 medal requirement. Additionally, the EN rerun is I believe a few days less than JP’s?? But EN’s event shop items are cheaper than JP’s to offset this. For example, the SR key is 1000 medals in the EN rerun and 1500 in the JP rerun.

It seems like the devs did try to balance around the shorter event length, but we perhaps don’t notice these efforts because the in-game announcement wasn’t clear about the changes between the initial runs and the reruns. The changes end up promoting completing all the recipes and not necessarily effectively grinding medals for rewards… and I imagine this doesn’t feel very good since the gameplay for the event isn’t great to begin with.

I think the devs were counting on people already having one or both of the respective Apprentice Chef cards (in this case, Riddle and/or Silver) to help out, as they collect 1.2x materials if you send them out on ingredient excursions. You might be cutting it pretty close otherwise.

If you want my advice for this CC/MC, just collect meat and also from the first Botanical Garden section(for onions and cabbage, making up 2/3 of drops). You can grind cabbage rolls with these. I would normally recommend grinding the 2-ingredient recipes, but it doesn’t feel as efficient to grab garlic since that only makes up 1/3 of the drops. (This is just a hunch, I did not actually run the numbers to see if this was true or not since I didn’t have the time for it; the current CC/MC ends in like a single day from now.)

Lately my parents watch everything with subtitles because there’s way too often times where the music is louder than the actors speaking. Then there’s times where the actors are whispering and can’t hear them along with sometimes just not quite understanding the actors’ annunciation or accent.

Way too often I catch moments where the subtitles just say “speaking in Russian” or whatever language that isn’t English. I have noticed most of those times the English viewer isn’t really supposed to know what’s being said, but my Dad speaks some Spanish.

I remember times where when watching tv with my Dad and someone speaks in Spanish, he’ll usually translate it to me and whoever else is watching so we can get that little extra bit of understanding. Which always felt neat and I enjoy understanding what’s being said.

So I completely agree that when it comes to subtitles of parts the viewer isn’t necessarily supposed to understand, to write it out in the language being spoken!

There’s a chance I might even understand the Spanish subtitles as I did take classes in public school, where I only recall roughly five words but have a rough grasp on the written grammar that I may supposedly understand the subtitles…

I wonder if these lazy subtitles are a way to save money because it probably costs money to get a good translation? I recall during my Spanish classes I watched some Pokemon in Spanish, don’t recall if it was sub, dub, or both, as part of an assignment. I recall whichever version I was watching didn’t seem well translated as I recall it not really matching the English version.

Is it stupid capitalism that we don’t get proper subtitles?

Yeah I’ve seen in tv shows it depict it being cool for boys to date grown women… like the boy successfully charmed a woman, what a “casanova”.

There’s “being mature for your age” and then there’s just experiences you get upon aging. Something that one wont really fully understand until they’ve lived that age.

So maybe someone wants to think they’re old enough or that certain age gaps don’t matter, but take into account how much “life experience” the other person may have. It could cause intentional or unintentional power imbalances and thus not be a true happy and healthy relationship.

Gender is sadly a big deal and people are treated differently because of it.

Men are treated as the ones who must want sex all the time and have to chase women. Woman are treated as the ones who never want sex and must fend off all advances.

I think these types of gender stereotypes are why boys and men aren’t usually thought of when they’re taken advantage of. Their experiences dismissed or demeaned.

Boys, if a woman or any adult shows romantic/sexual interest in you… run. I sadly don’t know what type of warning signs there are, if boys are told the same red flags as “you’re so special/mature/different than other boys”.

Adults aren’t truly interested in you. They’re interested in your naivety, taking advantage of your willingness to put up with stuff no one else would put up with, and just fetishizing your age.

Stitch is a great character and I’m only safe if he doesn’t want to fight me, but why does it have to be the live action version? The current live action movie spree Disney’s been on sucks.

I took this screenshot to try seeing how I feel about the fur texture as other shots I’ve seen of him have left me feeling like the older movie Monsters University had better fur textures but I couldn’t really tell considering the main furry character in University has a long fur coat compared to Stitch’s short coat. Stitch is definitely and clearly paler in the live action clips I’ve seen compared to the original animated Stitch.

I could complain on and possibly on about the live action spree, but I don’t want to bring that to this thread.

So overall, am I safe stuck in a room with Stitch? Probably? Though maybe not the room itself.

The gift of foresight is a rare phenomena amongst the magics recorded in the world's encyclopedia.

There weren't many individuals who possessed such gifts, and thus prophets are a highly valued asset to mankind. They are sought after, for humanity as a species are driven by pride and curiosity. They wish to know their fate, they wish to change their fate, as ambitious as that sounded.

The line between naivety and hopefulness is almost invisible.

No one can change the destiny that the Fates have set for them. She watched with an apathetic gaze as one by one, men fell victim to their own hubris. Heroes, nobles, travellers alike.

They called her ‘the Prophetess’.

She has no name. She doesn't remember, nor does she have no need for it, not after having walked this cursed land for who knows how long.

Once a humble priestess for a long forgotten god, she was granted the gift of foresight, with an eager promise to serve humanity until the last moment of her lowly mortal life.

... Well, such naive promises never last long.

Her gift came with a cost. Her head ached with events that had yet to happen, it was too much for a mere mortal to bear. And with a piercing scream, she clawed at her eyes, drawing blood until she was left with only a pair of empty eye sockets. The curse of knowledge took away her eyes as its price.

Still, she pushed through the sudden loss of sight, and began her journey of a new prophetess. The initial innocence slowly lost its light the more she gave out prophecies to those who sought for her. Her hope for humanity dimmed, having been disappointed over and over again.

Immortality is as much of a curse as foresight is. There was no place she hadn't been to, no things she hadn't seen. Such was a long, listless life of the Prophetess.

That was, until the Unfamiliar stumbled upon her temple...

i'll share a tidbit of her backstory if yguys want to know hehe :)

• appearance: 6'0 tall; she has long white hair, empty eye sockets covered by an eye mask, and very pale skin. in other words, albino, or mystic flour cookie but legally blind /j

• types of magic she excels in: foresight, healing

• her familiar is an albino python called nico :)

• the prophetess was once a mortal priestess, but it's been a long long time since then as she had ascended to godhood (lore)

• she grew apathetic to humanity after a while, giving them prophecies and leaving them to their fates. she does not care if they die or not, their fates are already sealed the moment they sought for her

• so far, only miyabi (the unfamiliar aka my friend's oc) managed to ignite the motherly instinct she thought were long gone. they've been with her the longest, took under her wing and nurtured to adulthood

• people see the prophetess as this imposing, menacing figure who comes to seal their fate. and uh... she kinda is-

Now, Malleus is a very smart guy himself, but he's never had to put as much effort in school as you are

He's seen many students put themselves deep into their studies (especially those failing), but you do it even when you're doing well in classes, almost like it's fun?

He's very perplexed by you, but he does understand and respect your ambition for your studies

Study dates! Study dates!

Well, it's more like you studying while he admires you and watches you with that fond loving smile

He doesn't need to study, he's one of the top mages for a reason, but he'll happily listen to you telling him all about what you're reading about and offer any insights he may have

Though he'll tell you all about gargoyles if you want!

Regardless if you're human, fae, beastman, merfolk, Malleus treats you a little like a fragile creature that forgets your own needs, so he's going to be reminding you of breaks and to drink water because he hates to see you not taking care of yourself

You will never have tp pay for your books or any school supplies every again because he's buying you brand new everything without even blinking

He admires your dedication, but part of him also wants your attention on him instead of the books so you might find him closer than usual on days when he wants your attention

It starts with sitting closer, and then becomes him trying to bring you snacks and water earlier than normal, to him trying to convince you to take longer breaks, and if you still don't give him as much attention, he's not against teleporting your schoolwork away for the evening

He looks like a sad puppy when you reject him attention for your studies

Malleus most happy just spending time around you, so hold his hand while you study or ask him what he thinks of the topics while in the peaceful quiet of one of your dorm rooms, and he'll be happy

Lilia:

Similarly to Malleus, he doesn't need to study that much

I mean technically he doesn't even need to be at Night Raven College and he's only there to support Malleus anyway, so studying isn't really his thing

but he'll happily help! And maybe distract you from time to time during it because he wants your attention

if you're studying history, he's got you covered, I mean, he's literally in the history books sooooo

he could actually tell you more about the history than the books will to be honest

his memory on all the things is like easy way to write a paper if you ever need, and he'll happily tell you everything in long stories

he'll bring you snacks and stuff, but it's probably best you don't eat it. If you do, well, you won't be able to study or do any work because you'll be sick in bed

while you're studying, he might poke you or ask you questions to try and get your attention on him, but if you're persistent and keep studying, he might just crawl his way into your space

he'll hang down from the ceiling above you and try to surprise you, crawl on your back, or he'd even worm his way into your lap

there's no way out of holding him. He's too persistent. Just give in

you might hear him mumbling about your dedication things like, "Ah, to be young again" or "the youth of today are fascinating in their determination"

he never elaborates on that either or says anything else when you question him

now, if you're studying too hard and pushing yourself beyond your limits, he's stopping you by literally carrying you away

despite his small size, he's absolutely going to succeed, don't even try to fight because it's futile (he's literally a war general, you're not winning)

he'll drag you far away from your books as he's telling you all about how you need to stay healthy and not push yourself too hard or else you won't be able to do your best work or be energized when you need it most

don't you worry though, he's good at helping you pace yourself (Forcibly moving you away when he's deemed you've done enough studying after a few hours) and you'll never be able to overwork yourself on his watch

Leona:

anytime you're studying, he glares at those books like they've personally burned his home or something

don't get me wrong, he's not against you wanting to do well in school, but he just hates that you spend so much time with the books

you should be spending time with him >:|

he's going to be next to you the entire time too like if you're sitting on the ground or a bed, he's curled around you or laying across your lap

if you're sitting at a desk, he'll be a bit grumpier and try and convince you to move somewhere more comfortable

if you're too stubborn (his words), he'd either sit on the ground next to you and rest his head in your lap, or he'd pick you up and sit in the chair himself and place you in his lap before resting his head on your back and wrapping his arms around you

he's 100% napping while you study so you have the background noise of him snoring

Leona would like to listen to you talk about what you're studying, purely because he likes to fall asleep to your voice

He could help, but he's not a big fan of helping because he thinks you can figure it out on your own, and also he doesn't want to use his mind to figure it out

he knows the answers, but he doesn't do any of the schoolwork himself because it's too much work and effort

its why he's been held back before, like it's too much work for him, but if you can somehow convince him to let you help, he might be willing to give it a shot (if you promise to give him more cuddles or affection in return)

yeah, there's no overworking yourself or pushing yourself too hard while he's literally right there, like there's no way he's letting that happen

he will drag you to the bed and lay on top of you, and then make Ruggie hide your books somewhere until he deems it's okay for you to get back to studying

try as you might, Ruggie isn't telling you where he put them, like Leona has bribed him good for this

please don't test Leona with how far he'll go, he's not against using his unique magic to turn your work to sand

if you ever ignore him for schoolwork, he can get SO annoying and demanding for attention

you know how cats sometimes push their way into your lap and push the things you have away? He does that when he really wants your attention

okay, we all know Jaxon loves his goody-two-shoes people, but this also goes for super smart people, like his twst ship is literally a guy that is obsessed with rules and success like come on now

it's basically his type

that being said, he doesn't get it at all! Jaxon himself has never done well in school (though that's partially for other reasons), nor does he have any desire to push himself nearly as hard as you do in order to do well in classes

the only class he can maybe help you with is music or practical magic, but even then he's sometimes struggling

on the bright side, he's not against bribing asking Ruggie to get anything you need to study, and has even asked him to get snacks or drinks sometimes for you

please don't ask him to read anything for you, he still struggles sometimes with his dyslexia and is trying so hard to act like it's not affecting him (especially in front of you)

Jaxon doesn't invade your space while studying like some people, but he does linger in the general area

if you ask he'd place you in his lap while you study or sit with his back against yours or against the side of your chair

usually he's on his phone or making small adjustments to one of his guitars (but if the noise bothers you he'd stop)

if you're lucky and in the privacy of one of your dorm rooms, he'd maybe get some sleep

tired and uncaring as he may seem half the time, he does pay close attention to you while you're studying

his care and attention while you're studying is done silently, with a water bottle or a snack silently being placed next to you

or if you're working too hard or studying for too long, he'll yank the books and papers once you're at an okay stopping point, and take them away

now, I don't know how tall you are, but he's pretty tall and one of the tallest among students, and he's not above holding your work out of your reach

most likely though he'd just hide it or keep it on him and make sure you can't take it from him, and if he's desperate, he'd hide it in his dad's office

he'd rather spend time with Crowley than let you overwork yourself

chances of getting him to study with you are slim, but I wish you luck

Idia:

Studying? You mean you actually study?

okay, Idia is a gamer and chronically online and speaks in internet terms, all his "studying" is done virtually with some game or video playing in the background

it's a great sentiment, wanting to do well in school, but he has daily quests to do in his games too

Idia isn't a guy that gets/is capable of handling a lot of physical affection, so he may break down if you want to hold his hand or have him connected to you while studying

his room is like a distraction goldmine, but unfortunately getting him to leave his room and study somewhere else is an extremely difficult task, so I hope you're good at focusing

you can have study dates, but it might include the background noise of one of his games running and the buzzing of technology

he (lovingly) refers to the great times you spend studying as "the grind" or the "XP farming so you can level up"

though he can help when you need it! He's an introvert and attends classes virtually, but he knows his stuff and can help you with most of the more practical subjects, especially math and science

if you really needed help though, he's already developed a virtual program to help him study with reminders for food and drinks and tools to help you review!

speaking of reminders for food and drinks, yeah, if he's not using that program then there's no way he's going to remember to even feed himself, much less you too

Ortho is probably gonna have to come in and remind both of you to take care of yourselves every hour or so, but don't worry, he's used to it with Idia

this also applies with reminders of when to stop/sleep, because Idia stays up late anyway

but! if he's absorbed in his game, he might stop every little bit and check in and be like "Shouldn't you be asleep?? Do you know what time it is?? Your energy bar has to be running low"

while he admires your dedication (though he doesn't fully understand it), he struggles to enforce his care unlike the others

he can't force you to do anything, but he's sure gonna try and pester you for a while if you don't take care of yourself

Idia sucks at taking care of himself, but he's not gonna let that happen to you

if worst comes to worst, he'll lock your work away in a safe with the highest technological security until you rest

hi this is my teacher!oc for NRC. He doesn't have a name yet cause I've never bothered trying to find a pun/reference I liked, but his snake got a name. It's been months at this point it's funnier to Not name him (I'm kidding, I'll get there eventually) He's a neurotic mess that everyone hates to suffer lessons with. He reeeeally doesn't like Leona (lion vs lion hissing) and barely gets along with any of the other teachers. Trein is about the only one who can suffer him, and Vargas 'gets along' with him but he spends half the time grimacing and calling him a Brute. His older brother is a CEO of a big company and he Hates Him. (mother should've given HIM the company when she retired, damn it.)
