you made a post on your twitter about being the "original host" which is. a plural term of course but ALSO i'd like to say that the idea of there being an "original" is veeery misleading and not actually possible in DID/OSDD

the reason DID/OSDD exists at all is because a child's identity was unable to fully form in their developmental years, so the identity splits off and fractures into several parts necessary to keep the child safe. because of this, there can be no "original host" because there was never an identity formed that could be considered the "core," in a way, at all. it gives off the idea that there was one set identity that split off others later on in life, which isnt how DID/OSDD works in terms of alter formation

also, the disorder can only be developed in your early formative years, so its mostly unheard of for a system to go through life with a single part only to split off later on. your brain splits off alters in response to stressors or traumatic experiences, and so when the disorder is formed there would have to have been a fracture from the beginning where your identity wasnt able to come together to form a single one. multiple alters can be "original," in a sense, but there is not one sole original

i suppose that other alters could have simply been integrated and so they arent a part of your system anymore (leaving you as the "original host"), but thats probably not my place to explore and its all a bit too complicated for a tumblr ask

there are parts that have been around longer than all the other parts and there are parts that identify with/as the body or the head of the system, buuuut i just wanted to share that tidbit of information because misinformation can be very harmful when it comes to healthy plurality!!

in any case, dont let this cause you to spiral into more self-doubt because — surprise! DID/OSDD is supposed to be hard to understand or identify within yourself. its a trauma disorder formed to make you as functional as possible, so generally the disorder tries very hard to hide your other parts from you as to protect you from those traumas. being confused is a major part of plurality, and most long-term hosts do have the misconception of being "original" because there was no reason to think otherwise.

its also fully possible that you have been the host for the majority (or entirety) of your life, so dont get me wrong! im just trying to share that the idea of an "original" alter isnt possible.

regardless of whether or not you're plural, i wish you the best in exploring yourself and the way that your brain functions. you're doing great, truly!

it's partially because bisexual attraction encompasses multiple modalities of attraction which can include being a lesbian and being something else. lesbian (and gay for that matter) is not an exclusive label that can only exist by itself, it can exist alongside other identities and modalities of attraction as well

bisexuality for many people includes living "gay" and "straight" lives alongside one another, for me as a genderqueer & multigender person, i'm a lesbian & a gay man. people have the impression that bisexual is a standalone identity that can't include being gay, but one of the modes of attraction in bisexuality includes homosexuality for most people, so why can't someone be bisexual and a lesbian?

if part of being bisexual for most people is being attracted to the same gender, lesbianism & gayness are inherent parts of the bisexual experience. with that information in mind, there's no reason someone cannot be both at the same time- there's no line drawn in the sand between bisexuality and lesbianism, or gayness, they are inherent parts of the bisexual experience. bisexuality includes, not excludes, lesbianism, and lesbianism can be part of the bisexual experience and is for me

some bisexuals identify as just bisexual and not gay or a lesbian, but if you meet and speak with other bisexuals, you will learn that many of us consider ourselves gay or lesbian and something else. we talk about our attraction freely because it is not just a this-or-that thing. we don't have to be just bisexual if that's not how we feel, because bisexuality is a complex experience that encompasses multiple experiences and paths in life. bisexuals walk multiple paths, we are allowed to use multiple identities and terms

in terms of being attracted to specific kinds of people, i don't really have a preference outside of preferring heavily to date other trans people, but that's not a hard limit, i have been attracted to cis people, but generally i am mostly only attracted to gender non-conforming cis people

first of all,,, im bisexual!! so if anyone has a problem with that, please get off my blog. i will not be tolerating homophobia of any kind.

i really, really didn’t want to have to come out in this way, bc the situation is so bad right now. i really didnt expect enhablr to be facing this kind of a problem.

when i first heard about the issue, i was thoroughly shocked. like completely.

now to address the issue at hand. i wasnt directly involved in this problem. some of you may even be wondering why im making a post about it.

but as a part of the lgbtq community, i think id like to speak what i feel about this.

the situation we heard about was that an enhablr writer, had written dni: lgbtq in their account, which literally anyone would be surprised or angry at, especially if you belong to the community.

OP’s friend, who had recently become my mutual, was defending OP’s actions, which made me think of unfollowing them and i wanted to unfriend them. but then i found out it involves religion.

religion is a very sensitive topic for everyone and could go wrong in multiple ways. i respect all religions and beliefs.

so i texted OP’s friend, asking about the situation at hand, in case it was a misunderstanding.

i am aware that the quran forbids acting on gay feelings. it teaches you to not accept the gay ‘Lot’. (i have done my reading on this topic so i rlly hope im not saying anything out of line. if i am, please forgive me.)

but as far as i know, and have heard from my other islamic friends, the quran also tells you to respect and love everyone, no matter what they are or identify as. respect and acceptance are two different things. islam doe not encourage lgbtq, but doesnt tell u to NOT respect people of every kind.

if what they say is correct, then being on tumblr and reading and writing fanfictions is very much considered as haram as well.

in the above conversation, i texted them wanting to hear their side of the story as well. OP’s friend constantly used the word ‘opinion’ along with ‘belief’.

now, opinion and beliefs are two different things. opinion is something that YOU FOLLOW on your own will. belief is something that your religion teaches you to follow, against your will or not. you can notice OP’s friend has used the word opinion quite a lot.

OP’s friend had received an ask and this was their response.

‘everybody has their own opinion.’

again, the word opinion is used here, which conveys to us that they’re not wanting to interact with lgbtq community on their own accord.

i tried to explain that most of us get enough hate for being a part of the lgbtq community, and seeing dni:lgbtq, doesnt make it any better.

Hello! We saw your post about wanting to find non anti-endo spaces and misinformation on CDDs and wanted to just ask, what changed your opinion on endos? We ourselves are anti-endo but not aggressively or with malice (we dont even post things or interact with the community really, just lurk, so its not like were ANTI-endo ya know? Just that we dont believe or support them) we just want to understand because we ourselves havnt found any compelling evidence or experience that would point to the existence of DID(plurality) without trauma. This isnt to say we wish to challenge your own belief's at all!! Rather we honestly would like to know your thoughts because we see a decent amount of systems say things like "I use to be anti-endo until I was informed" and so if thats the case I would rather be informed! I've never been anti-endo, so I wouldn't say I really changed my mind regarding endos as much as I would say my understanding of endogenic plurals, traumagenic systems, and CDDs has deepened and shifted over time. When I first began learning more about plurality and DID, I didn't know much about endogenic plurals or how they worked nor how they related to DID, but I decided I would trust people on how they perceive their identity regardless of if I understood it perfectly or not and try to learn more.

Regarding your ask, I feel it is important to distinguish the concept of plurality from that of DID. Plurality is very broad; It simply refers to being more than one, which can take a massive variety of different forms because it relates to how people view the self and identity, which is subjective. It may be altered by spiritual, cultural, or individual beliefs, and in many contexts (especially regarding endogenic plurals) it is better understood through the lens of how both sociocultural and individual beliefs regarding the self interact and develop rather than through the lens of pathology.

The plurality seen in endogenic plurality is not the same per se as what many refer to as plurality in DID, or what I personally prefer to refer to as multiplicity in these discussions for clarifying sake so as to not use the same word with a differing definition.

In DID, the multiplicity has been theorized to reflect a divided personality system, or dissociated parts, which is not the same as the plurality described by endogenic plurals. In practice, however, the lines may appear very blurred, as clinical understanding and pathology also interacts with individual beliefs regarding the self and the state of their multiplicity; as an example, many people with DID strongly reject the framework of parts, and prefer to refer to their system's members as people they share a body with, often because they hold individual beliefs regarding what defines personhood that affects the language which they use to describe their system. As endogenic plurals also often describe their headmates as people they share a body with, the difference may not be immediately clear.

To further complicate matters, individual beliefs regarding the self, one's life, and one's identity may also alter the view of how a person believes their system to have formed even if they are DID. I've met many systems who are DID but who also identify as endogenic for a variety of reasons related to how they make sense of their life and memories as well as their sense of self and identity. To give a more specific example, I've known several DID systems who say they were born plural for a variety of reasons (some psychological, some spiritual) but who additionally experienced childhood trauma which they view as the origin of their DID seperate from the origin of their plurality.

It is my opinion that these differences in beliefs and labels are not inherently harmful nor misinformed because they are based in subjectivity, and they may even be beneficial for many people as it gives them a framework to make sense of themselves in that is unique to their individual experiences.

Regarding evidence and endogenic plurality, I also believe that fixating so much on clinical evidence or proof through studies is to misunderstand fundamentally that plurality and multiplicity both relate to an understanding of self that is not objective and as such cannot be easily measured through objective means. The self is not something that is easily understood solely through the context of clinical study; rather, by only examining the self through this lens, you limit your understanding of the self. Rather than a fixation on an evidence which is not easily obtained nor measured, I instead encourage a frameworks-based understanding of plurality, which is already done for multiplicity (the Theory of Structural Dissociation is a framework).

To summarize, DID is a trauma-based disorder, however the multiplicity described in DID is not necessarily the same as the plurality described by endogenic plurals. As well, while a clinical understanding of DID is incredibly important, it is also meaningful to consider how sociocultural and individual beliefs interact with this understanding and how they may alter the way people identify, especially regarding the aspect of multiplicity and self. Lastly, a frameworks-based approach to endogenic plurality such as plurality through the lens of individual beliefs regarding the self may be more useful to understanding endogenic plurality than a focus on clinical evidence is.

I haven't actually read her hugo winners and i'd like to, but unfortunately i started with The City We Became and now i hold a Grudge.

Why:

on the surface this book is a Cool Woke Twist on lovecraftian horror set in new york city. the basic premise is fun: the avatars of the boroughs of new york forming together to help their city become a fully fledged cosmic entity of a sort. the villain here is the literal spirit of gentrification, and while theres a lot of good things that could come from that set up, the actual execution makes it an absolute agony to get through. everything is so hamfisted and somehow smug about recognizing the most basic ideas. its too smug and condescending to appeal to anyone in the center, its ideas too juvenile to appeal to anyone in the left, and its weird flat characterization of the villains as The Most Cartoonishly Evil Cops/N*zis You Can Think Of kind of makes the conflict feel... empty. It's hard to explain without experiencing it, but i cannot recommend anyone actually read it. or maybe u should just so i can finally talk to other people about this, maybe im insane for feeling this way.

some favorite moments of mine, in no particular order:

-the multiple instances of a side character being introduced, having their race and tragic backstory exposited in one sentence, and then they vanish, never to appear in the narrative again

-white supremacists attack the indie art museum on twitter. thankfully they start a counter hashtag and the entire situation wraps up in under 24 hours. they go from "we have to fire all of you bc of pressure from these assholes" to "actually its fine" bc of twitter. i dont even think its supposed to be part of the magic of the city or whatever. its an incredible sequence.

-"he shot out of the pool like a child fired from a hot buttered child cannon"

-theres a bit where the author sets up a neat fight between a character who does a cool transformation and a REALLY neat monster. u will not see that fight play out. that scene isnt in the book. just the leadup and the aftermath. why even bother.

-one of the main characters has a tumblr but its obvious the author hasnt like... used tumblr. this isnt a major sin but it is funny

-really have to state again that theres a line in this book that reads "hot buttered child cannon." this also isnt a sin, this is maybe poetry.

-its labeled as adult fiction, it feels like its trying to go for grit and gore and sex in places, but its also weirdly shy about engaging directly with a lot of that stuff. this one might (MIGHT) actually be a style thing, admittedly most of my nitpicks surround one specific character who has a reason to be Like That, but i also have issues with her as a whole that i do not have space 2 get into here. regardless, a lot of this book feels like ya somehow, but the concepts its playing with and some of the scenes DO also make it feel too adult to really suit that either. its... weird.

its kind of a mess in a lot of places, and honest to god it sort of drags in the middle. if you DO pick it up, i recommend the audiobook. the narrator does a fantastic job, and they do some fun sound design in a few places. unfortunately the story itself is kind of hollow. it has a lot of diversity, but the way so many of those diverse characters are tossed out for brownie points and discarded, the way so many characters go into these preachy little rants about VERY basic ideas like "white supremacy bad" its just...

im sure that the author meant well. this book wouldve raised the bar for its representation in like... 2014. maybe thats when she started writing it, idk. unfortunately it came out in 2020 and i think it just feels Dated in a very strange way.

Hi, I have a fan theory question. (I hope that's ok.) Why is Roxanne not a more major character in the movie? I get that her role is important but it seems like just the tip of the iceburg in a way. She's this smart strong female icon but it feels like we dont get to see more than the rescue/love interest side. Any fan theories about why?

FAN THEORY THURSDAY FRIDAY - Roxanne's Importance in Megamind

SPOILER WARNING! It's still a thing, and, if you haven't already, you still need to watch Megamind.

Among the other major characters in the film Megamind, Roxanne seems to rather more time in the proverbial background. As this anonymous fan stated, it’s not that her role is unimportant, but she doesn’t appear to garner the same sort of focused attention given to Metroman, Titan, and, of course, Megamind himself. Why is she not more prominently in the spotlight? Is she simply a classic comic book style damsel-in-distress and love interest, or something more? The good news is that I’m starting to suspect Megamind headcanons are like phone apps: no matter what you imagine, there’s a fan theory for that. This one is no different. Let’s dive right in!

The most obvious answer to this question is that, while she’s clearly a well-known television journalist, Roxanne is not a super of any kind. This is important for two reasons. Firstly, it means that the reporter, naturally, plays a less active role in superhero and supervillain confrontations. Doing so is simply not a choice she’s made in her life or her career. Some fans on the Evil Lair Discord suspect we may see that changing in the upcoming series, Megamind’s Guide to Defending Your City, now that Roxanne is romantically involved with the blue hero. However the point still stands that during the original movie her only role in the “Cape Game,” as some fans call it, is that of a kidnapped damsel. It’s a position that is notably passive.

The second related supposition is less readily apparent as well as more insightful and interesting. I’ve mentioned in a previous post, Why Does Megamind Wear Black, that Jason Schleifer, Head of Animation on the film project, stated during an Animation World interview that both Megamind and Metroman “play the good guy/bad guy game to the crowd like rock stars.” They are putting on a show; their loud banter and even their costume choices—modeled on Alice Cooper and Elvis respectively—are intended to make them impossible to ignore. Despite his being a more serious threat, even Hal/Titan adheres to this standard to a certain extent. His uniform, clearly designed by Megamind and made by Minion, is skin tight, brightly colored, and almost sparkling. Obviously, supers making themselves the center of attention is the norm. This connects to a fan theory spanning multiple comic book-inspired franchises, from Megamind to Amazon’s series The Boys, which states that in this sort of alternate reality, heroes and villains would be expected to grab attention for multiple reasons. These include ensuring visibility—thus allowing citizens to easily identify Defenders at need and to get out of the way before battles begin—as well as generating interest and revenue for local tourism.

Why does that matter? Although her job certainly puts her in the public eye, Roxanne is not trying to garner unfettered attention in the same manner. She’s not putting on Megamind-styled presentations. Reporting the news on local television is, after all, a far cry from booming threats over a speaker system, surrounded by a laser light show and accompanied by classic metal tunes, all while dressed in spandex, black leather, spikes, and high collars. Some fans suggest that Roxanne’s less-prominent presence in the movie may be either an organic result of this difference or a conscious choice by the creators to make the narrative feel more authentic. In the film, as might be the case in real life, our attention is naturally drawn to the bigger, bolder, more intensely conspicuous show being put on by the supers. This doesn’t make Roxanne Ritchi any less important to the story, however it does mean that she tends to work a little more in the background. It’s difficult to focus on a news report when there’s a circus act going on right beside it.

And make no mistake, Roxanne is absolutely vital to the narrative. It’s not merely the fact that her affection is the catalyst for Megamind’s heel-turn or that her rejection leads to Hal’s showing his true violent personality, but also that she represents, in a way, the normal populace of Metro City. The reporter’s acceptance of Megamind foretells the acceptance of the entire society. Furthermore, she can even be said to change others’ opinions about the blue man. It is Roxanne, after all, who reveals that the former villain was the one to save the day. She publicly hugs him, proving that he’s not nearly as evil and dangerous as people assumed, and explains away his instinctively defensive reaction when the crowd closes in. She chooses to help him and, in the end, kisses his cheek in front of a massive audience, indicating that she is now dating the new hero.

That last scene appears to end the reporter's own relatively small character arc. Roxanne begins by being obviously attracted to the blue man during her kidnapping but just as clearly unwilling to act on her feelings, rejects him in the middle of the film, and finally allows herself to forgive his past transgressions, move beyond social assumptions, and love him. Of equal importance, however, is the fact that her choice is especially brave. Think about how people might actually feel about someone openly being in a relationship with an extraterrestrial, especially if that someone’s career depends on TV ratings and public opinions. Roxanne is clearly unafraid to take risks.

This courage makes it clear that the reporter is far more than a typical damsel in distress. Consider the superman comics, which the film Megamind lampoons. Roxanne is obviously an echo of Lois Lane, to an extent, but she is far less easily frightened than that of her counterpart. While Lois can be said to possess a certain amount of bravery—she goes into dangerous situations to get the story, usually landing herself in trouble—her primary purpose is still simply to be rescued and desired by the hero. Beyond that, in film renditions from movies to old cartoons, Lois Lane screams quite a lot.

This is, in fact, an expectation the Dreamworks team played with and subverted. Far from wailing to be saved at every turn, Roxanne refuses to scream during kidnappings. Even when she is tied to the top of Metro Tower by Titan, she doesn’t yell or panic; she makes a calm, rational plea to Megamind for his help. That is far from the only time the woman proves just how spunky and bold she can be. Using skills as an investigative reporter, she is not only intelligent enough to deduce the location of Megamind’s hideout but also daring enough to explore it. When the blue man himself initially believes he can’t save Metro City, Roxanne goes alone into the most dangerous area and tries to reason with Titan. Later, during Megamind’s second fight with the red-haired villain, we see Roxanne moving up behind the latter with a broken signpost, clearly intending to attack the super-powered threat. She knows she has no special abilities or advanced technology, she knows that Titan wants to harm her, yet she is still willing to fight back.

So, to answer your question, it seems obvious that Roxanne is, indeed, far more than an ordinary damsel, however, she appears to be slightly less central to the narrative simply because, in the end, the film is a superhero story, and she is neither a hero nor a villain. If the movie were about, for example, an attempt to discover Megamind’s plans and put a stop to them, it appears likely that she would have played a more prominent role. As it is, Roxanne remains vital to the plot but is not squarely in the spotlight. It will be interesting to see whether that remains the same in the upcoming series or whether she becomes more directly involved with Megamind’s new position as Defender.

the timing of this is so uncanny bc just last night i remembered how much ppl hate me on twitter for the most made up reasons 😭😭😭 well a vpn is 100% the easiest way to avoid drama. you can bounce around with the free trials of vpns but i share norton 360 with my parents which has a built in vpn and it does cyber security. so you can always suggest that to your folks and cover multiple devices (iirc you can cover like 4 devices at once?) there are a few free vpns like proton vpn but theyll limit you to only a few places to change your location to....i found a kinda shady but effective free vpn but i lost it when i got a new computer. i'll check my old harddrive when i get home and see if its still available later

other than that def use a burner email so people can't input your email and figure out EVERYTHING youre a part of nor can they send u spam email attacks. never use your full name ofc. avoid sharing paypal info if you can ofc. have a myriad of screen names ofc. and what helped me the most was really understanding just ppl could do with any of the random info available online. with an ip address ppl can only get your general area and possibly your service provider. it takes additional effort to dig deeper than that. it can happen. but not just anyone has the tech know how. so with a vpn + not posting your full name or images that have identifying information you should be good!

oh and the most important thing is to NOT feed the trolls. if someone tries to get information from you do not post about it handle it quietly and keep records of anything if, god forbid, it gets serious enough to have to report. these people do these things for reactions and the less you react the less they'll go out of their way to bother you lol. theres a reason twtrmys don't really bother me anymore and its bc i just turn the anons into the closer lyric videos 😭😭😭😭😭

the reason i dont identify as bi anymore is kind of a load but i want it off my chest.

i used the label bi because back in 2020-ish i was still figuring myself out (i know myself way better now than i did then but im still figuring myself out.) but also because the label was kinda pushed on me. it works as an umbrella term but using it just felt so restrictive to my identity because, while sure i like guys, girls and enbies/people inbetween or outside the binary, my attraction is just so much more complicated and way less simple than that.

it was sorta pushed onto me by my then partner after i thought i was a transman and stopped identifying as a lesbian. i told them how i was feeling about my identity and they insisted i was bi, so for a while i went with it.

i went with "biromantic ace" among other labels, what labels i chose were heavily influenced by my partner at the time, because i thought they knew me better or something?

i felt so weird about it though, i really had felt comfortable identifying as trixic/sapphic/lesbian but then realised "no my attraction to guys isnt comp-het i really do like them" so i thought i had to stop using the label cuz at the time i felt comfortable to call myself a guy.

turns out, i like women in a queer way but not the same kind of queer way i like nonbinary people or men, for me my attraction to different genders is seperate to those genders in a gay towards that gender sort of way. i felt comfortable saying i was both a lesbian and a gay man, i still feel comfortable using those terms even though im NONBINARY not a transman like i thought.

my relationship with my gender and orientation are so messy and complicated the best way i can wrap my mind around it was to stop using the bi label and just start using a whole bunch that fit me so much better! gaybian, omni, abro, aroace flux, so on and so forth.

theres nothing wrong with having multiple labels, using masculine, neutral, feminine terms and such that contradict each other. if they work then they damn well work. use what youre comfortable with, not what others want you to conform to.

fuck it, just be you, be your queer self for you, who cares if people dont understand and get confused buy it. you dont owe anyone an explanation on your identity, its yours.

im autistic, i hate feeling restricted and masking, so finding the right labels for me was extremely important. now it actually feels like i can breath a bit easier in my own skin because i can understand myself even the slightest bit better.

if you wanna use bi because its the label youre most comfortable identifying with even if you dont fit everyone's definition of it, use it anyway. if you wanna use pan, poly, omni or literally anything you feel works for you then use it!

trust me when you allow yourself to be comfortable and experiment with labels, you not only find out more about yourself but feel at least slightly better about it too. and that slight bit betterness can go a long way, maybe even opening yourself up to other things.

your comfort matters, it really does. no one can dictate your identity and labels for you, only you can do that.

hello! just so you know, "mspec" is usually used to refer to attraction to multiple genders, not to man- or male- spec genders! I've seen manspec or malespec used instead, but using mspec and specifying which one those is works too

unfortunately I only know one lesbian trans man, at least irl/not on social medias. he identifies as such because he's a man who view his attraction to women as queer, so he uses lesbian as one of its first meaning of "queer attraction to women (and/or fem-/woman-aligned people)"

this is one of the reasons why men, men-aligned and male-aligned people would use lesbian, but there's no fixed rule on who can use what. if you feel like you experience your attraction as lesbian attraction, you can just say you're a lesbian

We have a bunch of them honestly, most of which arent public on tumblr, but we’ll talk about them anyway :3 mostly because lilac has the least interesting story, which is simply that we all like lilacs. We do like them a lot though, like a lot a lot, almost to the extent of worshipping them, but not quite (/serious). Its also convenient that lilacs have four petals, and we’re a system of four, so theres that. The “set” aspect comes from the fact that we’re a set of quadruplets. Our discord name is also a flower, im not gonna post it publicly but youre welcome to ask, we chose that flower for the gender vibes. And then our actual irl collective name, not public either, came to be in an interesting way, before we knew we were plural. We chose it in high school, we were changing our first name for gender reasons, and 🪨 made a list of names he liked. The next day i (🔥) found the list, took off the ones i didnt like, and added some others I thought were worth considering. The next day/later the same day (no idea) he looked at the note again and reversed my changes. We went back and forth like this multiple times before either of us realized it was futile, he left a note in the note not to make any permanent changes, to add whatever i want at the bottom but not delete anything, and just reorder the names in order of preference. We would keep the note and keep revisting and reordering them until one consistently floated to the top and wasnt being moved back down, so after a while all four of us had had in opportunity in front to vote on names, changes quit being made, and our name was decided. So thats the name we all collectively and individually went by and continue to go by, we all got attached to it and really identify with it, our individual names that we use are technically middle names so that we could each keep that name as a first name. It was kinda validating, our rationale at the time was just that our preferences must vary depending on our mood or whatever and for some reason we have no recollection of other moods. After we became aware of each other like 5 years later it was immediately apparent what had been going on, but we hadnt really internalized it, ya know? So when we were choosing our individual names we went with the same method, keep an open note and adjust the order every day based on preference, and we were surprised that individually our preferences are consistent lmao

you reblogged a post of mine mentioning you would need a diagnosis to access a mobility aid. im not sure if you meant from a medical perscription/insurance standpoint or a not-fully-understanding-your-condition standpoint, so im addressing both.

i dont know what your family/financial situations look like, but legally/medically you do not need a diagnosis to purchase a mobility aid. if a doctor complains or suggests you needed permission, they are very likely acting primarily on ableism. mobility aids can be OTC, but doctors dont want us to know that.

if you meant moreso that you need a diagnosis to best understand and accomodate your symptoms, i agree, but that doesnt mean you shouldnt accomodate to the best of your ability with the knowledge/experience you do have. before i recieved my diagnosis, it was my identified symptoms that directed my choice im mobility aid.

It has become a trend to say you're someone you're not, something https://archive.ph/brSmZ touches upon with usernames and how it has become a problem recently, and the reason for the existence of the impersonators are people like olq-plo, who is either too rookie despite having been on DeviantArt for almost a decade or is purposefully supporting the impersonator because the users on that part of DeviantArt are known to be biased in favor of trolls they happen to know.

The user who has the face as the profile picture is nothing more than a troll who just happened to have access to a lost stash image by intelligent-potato. Is that so hard to understand? It's one of the reasons why I don't post pictures of myself, there are people with my pictures who, in a society that uses selfies as identifiers, will use the pictures to make the gullible majority think I'm them.
