tommy shelby lives
Just want to preface this by saying a massive thank you to @bestillmyslashyheart for getting me back into the Peaky Blinders show, and thus, it’s fandom.
(An aside: I was genuinely terrified to post this story as I really wanted to get Alfie Solomons distinct fucking voice out of my head and into the written word, but the man is insufferably hard to write for. I just hope I’ve done him justice.)
(PS- Please go into this story with the prior knowledge that they’ve been fucking from the very beginning, because we all know they have, right?)
ao3
Thomas Shelby doesn’t die today.
He doesn’t die the next day.
Or the day after that.
But Oswald Mosely does.
Every night in Tommy’s dreams Mosely dies a most painful death, sometimes it’s so rejuvenating that Tommy wakes up laughing. The aches in his lower abdomen from the force of his unconscious laughter drag him from his bed. A terrified Lizzie moves to the guest bedroom.
But no, reality hits him the moment the laughter dies.
Mosely still lives, and that thought alone is enough to make him want to die all over again.
Day after day. The message is as clear as the night is dark.
Oswald Mosely lives. And so does his fucking philosophy.
But fate, as they say, is on Tommy’s side.
Thomas Shelby doesn’t die today.
He doesn’t die the next day.
Or the day after that.
No matter how hard he tries. Tommy Shelby lives to fight another day.
***
The phone call comes about a week after the silence. A voice he knows by heart. A distinct southern drawl croons through the line.
“Wanna talk about it, treacle?” The way the voice runs through his ear and trickles down his spine; a familiar twisting in his gut, letting him know he’s still alive. The first time he’s felt anything other than sorrow since his failure.
Tommy breathes heavily down the phone.
Alfie allows the stillness to rest pretty between them, until the time is right.
“I found him, Alfie.” Tommy finds his voice eventually, sucking in a deep lungful of smoke. He blows it back out in a wisp of cloud that suffocates the staleness in the air. “The man I can’t defeat.”
The symphony of the Jew’s reply rumbles down the line. It makes Tommy’s legs tremble. Not in fear, but in something dark and wondrous that stirs heady in the junction of his thighs. A lively chuckle continues, piercing the quiet.
“The fuck you ‘ave, mate.” He says, still chuckling away. “Think it’s time you got out of that big, lonely house, yeah, and you take a little trip. I ‘ave it on good fucking authority, mate, that the seaside is fanciful this time of year. Lots of ships to gawk at and the gulls get particularly cunty in the peace of the mornin’. Come and see me, Tom. Then I can tell ya to your pretty face just how wrong you are, sweetie. Oh,” He says quickly, on the cusp of goodbye, “…and bring Cyril with ya.”
“Thought you said it was better he believed you dead, Alfie.”
“Changed my mind, din’ I. A God such as myself Tom, yeah, he does as he bloody well pleases. I am no longer of this Earth, right, and thus, its pitiful rules that bound me to the whims of a madman need not apply.” The line goes quiet on the other end of the line, and any sane person would take that lasting statement as the end, but Tommy knows better. He listens to the tell-tale sign of Alfie’s beard as it scrapes along the mouthpiece. The corner of Tommy’s mouth turns up at the corner in what might be described as a smile. The sound of Alfie’s booming voice comes through the receiver again.
“Now… be a good boy Thomas and put on one of those fancy suits you know I love, get in that ridiculous bloody thing you call a ve-hicle, and bring me my fucking dog.”
Alfie never asks twice.
 ***
Tommy arrives in Margate in less than four hours. He’s greeted at the door by the friendly face of Alfie’s maid, who is clearly expecting him because she bows politely as he approaches the door. They exchange mannerly greetings, and then her eyes light up as Tommy hands her the lead that’s securely fastened around the big dog’s neck. She sees to it that Cyril is taken care of before she leads him straight to Alfie’s study. As if he doesn’t already know the way.
Alfie is standing where he usually does, a broad silhouette by the arched window; bathed in the reddish hues of the descending sun. A welcome sight.
“Took your time, love.” He mumbles, not once taking his eyes off the impressive skyline.
“Missed you too, Alfie.”
Alfie grumbles at him, pointing his cane over at the unoccupied chair he’d sat in not that long ago.
“Yeah. Right.” He clears his throat in a way that suggests he’s about to admit something he’d rather not, “Missing you, right, ain’t a sentiment I ever planned for, Tommy. Snuck up on me, didn’t it. Viper sharp grip on a man’s balls, it is, Tom.” He makes a slow fist with his hand, cracking each knuckle as it tightens. “And worry, yeah. Another foreign concept I never once thought to have, Tom, and yet-” he pauses, putting heavy emphasis on the letter ‘t’, “Here I am, right, worrying about your miserable fucking life. An’ all the while that fascist, anti-Semitic cunt that you said you was gonna shoot in the face, yeah, still sits on his fucking throne.”
During his speech Alfie has made his way over to his favourite chair and slumps down onto it, mimicking the words he spits at Tommy, and just when Tommy thinks he’s finished Alfie finally looks at him.
“And me, Tommy, right. I don’t hear a word, mate. Not a single, fucking word. Have to read about it in the newspaper, din’t I? While the Gypsy King sits at home, in his comfortable fucking chair puffing away on the filthy death traps he always has, case in point, right-” He gestures wildly at the lit cigarette dangling from his mouth. “…between his sinful fucking lips. D’you see my dilemma, Tommy?”
Alfie’s confession is left to fester; moulding over the cracks in Tommy’s half dead heart as he puts the pieces together. But he doesn’t know what the fuck to do with the information Alfie has so freely given him. He’s never known the man be quite so brutal in the face of his feelings before.
Tommy’s isn’t a complete fucking idiot, he knows their feelings for each other have always been something more than just business partners who fuck, they wouldn’t have been fucking for as long, or as often, if feelings hadn’t been present in one way or another, but they’ve never been so blatant before. It scares the fuck out of him. He genuinely doesn’t know what to do in the reality of it all. So Tommy does what he always does, he deflects.
“Are you done?”
Alfie barks out a knowing laugh. “Yeah mate, I’m fucking done.”
Something inside Tommy shifts at the overt nonchalance, and he watches Alfie pick up his fucking binoculars to distract from Tommy’s obvious brush-off. It shouldn’t invoke feelings of aggravation, but it does. It pisses him the fuck off.
He walks determinedly over to where Alfie is sat, puts his hands on his broad shoulders, and confidently mounts the man without saying a word. Tommy forces his knees to slide either side of Alfie’s thighs, snatches the stupid trinket out of his hand placing it lightly on the table, and tugs Alfie none-too-gently into a passionate kiss- cutting off Alfie’s no doubt boastful retort. He bites down hard on Alfie’s plump bottom lip and congratulates himself on the low groan that rumbles from his lover’s chest. He continues his assault, shoving his tongue inside to explore the warmth being willingly granted to him. When he’s made his point he pulls back all too quickly. Alfie’s beard tickles his top lip as he chases him and Tommy has to bite down hard to stop the noise threatening to spill from his traitorous mouth.
Tommy leans back and watches the way Alfie’s eyes flutter open when he comes to realise Tommy’s lips are no longer attached to his own.
“That, mate, was a cruel kind of teasing, yeah.” He says as he trails his tongue over his bottom lip, like he’s savouring the taste of Tommy’s kiss.
His pupils are blown and his lips have a light sheen of spit making them near impossible not to want. Alfie eyes Tommy all over, taking him in at such a close distance. But his brow furrows after a moment of appreciation. He traces a ringed finger over Tommy’s jaw line, lingering with the softest touch. A shiver wracks Tommy’s body. He knows Alfie can feel the effect of his touch, but thankfully, he doesn’t dwell on it. He does drag Tommy closer though, aligns their hardened cocks, smirking into it, and then bucks up into the friction.
Alfie’s hold grounds him, makes him feel safe. Makes him feel powerful. And with that power comes the confidence to say what he might not have said given the circumstances.
“I’m sorry.” Tommy says, barely a whisper in the wind. But he knows Alfie hears him, loud and clear, because he stops bucking his hips and watches him.
“Run that by me again, mate.” He quips, tilting his head to look at Tommy under his lashes, a smug civility in his reply. He wants Tommy to own up to it, waits patiently as Tommy gears himself up. His throat dries instantly, but he clears the blockage with a cough and pushes on, like the man he is.
“I’m trying to apologise, Alfie. If you’ll let me.”
Alfie smiles. “As you were, sweetheart.”
“Right.” Tommy says on a sigh, looking anywhere but at Alfie. He’s not use to feeling this bloody vulnerable, but he knows it’s needed, especially seeing earlier how open Alfie was with him. He can do this. Alfie’s probably the only person in the world he can do this with. His equal in every sense of the word.
“It was not my intention to burden you with worry, Alfie. And for that, I’m sorry.”
And the world doesn’t crumble because a gangster gone politician tells the truth. A simple, but persistent weight is lifted.
“Well, that wasn’t so difficult now, was it Tom? Apology accepted o’course. Yeah, all is forgiven, treacle. No harm, no foul. Can’t be holding grudges in our line of work, right, s’not wise to do, yeah. Causes all sorts of terrible squabbles amongst the civilians, right, and I don’t care much for squabbles no more, Tommy, getting too old for that shit.”
And just like that, the mood shifts again and with Alfie’s reply comes the banterous familiarity they find themselves so often drenched in. Alfie is still waffling on a minute later, so Tommy grinds down on Alfie’s (thankfully) still hard cock, which effectively makes his voice waver in its raw form, but doesn’t cut him off completely, so Tommy dives in and connects their lips in a messy, open mouthed kiss. Alfie is momentarily taken aback at the abruptness of the kiss, but easily folds under the pressure and let’s himself sink into it.
During the distraction Tommy manages to tear open the flowing white shirt Alfie’s wearing. He’s split it clear in half so that Alfie’s glorious chest is now free-reign for Tommy’s eager tongue. He rips his mouth from Alfie’s and delves into the expanse of wild chest hair, nipping and sucking before wrapping his teeth around a hard nipple.
“Fucking ‘ell, Tommy…” Alfie groans audibly from above, “You tryin’ to finish me off before we’ve even started, yeah? Put them gnashers away, right, and get them immoral fuckin’ lips around my cock- where they belong, right.”
Tommy looks up at him with a raised brow, a twitching cock of his own, and a bite-back ready on his lips. But Alfie sees the fight in him and does not hesitate to put him in his place.
“Did I fucking stutter, mate?” Alfie says, asserting his dominance. He forces Tommy to his knees, dragging his pants halfway down his legs in the process, and then shoves Tommy’s head towards his aching cock.
“You’re gonna look so pretty when I ruin you, yeah.” He grabs Tommy’s chin and tilts it up. “Now, blue eyes on me, right. You know the rules, Tom.”
Fuck.
---
Tommy loves control. In most aspects of life, he fucking thrives on it. It’s evident in the way he runs his businesses, his stables, his money, and most importantly, his family. He’s a man who relishes the thrill of knowing he’s the one that holds all the cards.
But the bedroom is his safe space, somewhere Tommy can let go. He’s been with his fair share of men and women in the past. He takes what he needs and he moves on. It’s how he’s always done it. That’s why he used to frequent the brothels as often as he did. No one judged you for wanting.
And then there was Grace. His beautiful wife. She was a blip in his ever-present amour, a woman with enough fire to not only light the flame, but keep it burning; warming his cold, dead heart back to life.
Being with Alfie is different still. It started way back when as a blurry line between business and pleasure. The attraction was instantaneous, even with Grace in the picture, god rest her soul.
What Tommy needs from Alfie is something only a man of his raw power can provide.
Sometimes, Tommy just needs to get completely and utterly ruined.
He’s a beautiful man, been told by many before; men and women alike fall at his feet at the slightest temptation.
But the moment he met Alfie Solomons, he knew he’d found his equal. Laying eyes on Alfie was a rush of adrenaline he’d never felt before; a spike of fear that lingers in the bitter air, and then fades so quickly it’s like it never even existed.
Underneath his scruffy appearance, Alfie Solomons is pure hulking muscle. If his reputation for being a complete and utter psychopath isn’t enough, he exudes a kind of energy that most people immediately cower at. Unless, of course, you’re Thomas Shelby.
Tommy prides himself on rising from the ashes of the weak men who fall before him.
It doesn’t take them long to fall into bed together the first time, hell- they don’t even make it out of the office before Alfie has him bent over his desk, pounding away, with a strong hand at his throat cutting off his oxygen. And during the rush of it all, Tommy finally wakes up. He’s never looked back since.
Alfie is the only one he can trust to give him what he needs: the freedom of oblivion.
And the rest, as they say, is history.
---
Present Alfie is getting impatient. Tommy tends to get stuck in his own head at times, so Alfie has to bring him out of it, usually relishes the idea, but tonight his lack of restraint wins out as he forces his cock further down Tommy’s throat. Despite the intrusion to his windpipe, it works all the same, Tommy gags and chokes and is about to pull back when Alfie puts both hands on the back of his head to keep him right where he is.
“You back with me, sweetheart? You know I don’t like it when you get lost in that head of yours. Want you to look at me as I fuck that pretty mouth. Little bit longer and then I’ll let you breathe, yeah.”
Tommy’s eyes start to water as he pushes past the point of the gag reflex and swallows round the girth of Alfie as he hits the back of his throat. He breathes in deeply through his nose and hums in delight at the noises he hears being torn from Alfie’s throat.
“That’s it, Tommy. Fu-cking ‘ell, you’re so good.” His mumbling turns into incoherent words of encouragement as he closes in on his endgame.
But Alfie’s not done playing. He wrenches Tommy off with a vicious pop and bends down to capture his messy lips in a kiss, moaning hellishly at his own taste on Tommy’s tongue.
When he pulls back to look at him Tommy thinks he must look a right state. His lips feel puffy and used, his eyes are wet with tears, and his hair has fallen limp from Alfie’s rough fingers. The vanity he prides himself on claws its way to the surface of his subconscious, compelling him to put the facade back on. But Alfie takes one look at him and chuckles darkly.
He used to hate the way Alfie could see into the very core of him, the way he’d take and take and take until Tommy had nothing left to give. But now he knows how much he needs that kind of release, so he pushes the crimpling anxiety back into its box and watches Alfie watching him. He knows Alfie enjoys the view, can literally see him savouring the spectacle of Tommy in such a state of disarray, delighting in the fact that he’s the cure for Tommy’s internal destruction. His face moulds into an arrogant smirk. Tommy’s insides liquefy.
“You look utterly debauched, mate.”
Tommy tries to talk but his throat feels so used in the best way possible, so instead he grunts out what sounds like a pleasing noise of approval and stands to shaky legs.
“Where’dya think you’re going then?”
“I only brought one suit, Alfie.” Tommy croaks as he steps out of his trousers and folds them in a way they won’t crease.
“Well, ain’t that a down right shame, Tommy, right, coz I don’t give a fuck, mate. Get back over here. I’m not nearly done with you yet.”
Tommy’s entire body lights up at his words. He slowly makes his way back over to Alfie and waits patiently for his next command.
“Okay,” Alfie says, as he sits up straighter on the chair and trails his large hands up Tommy’s naked thighs and round to his plump ass. He lets them rest there for a moment, before he squeezes both cheeks in his hands and pulls him so that he’s practically straddling one of his meaty thighs.
Alfie looks him up and down from his new position. “Seeing as how you love the show of it all, yeah, sweetie. I want you to take off every scrap of clothing, right, exactly as you are.” He sinks back down into his chair and links his fingers over his chest. “Go on…I’ll wait. I can be a patient man when I wanna be, Tommy.”
Tommy would normally put up more of a fight, but he does enjoy obeying Alfie’s orders in the heat of the moment from time to time. Mostly his predatory instincts do kick in though and his natural response is always to fight back. Today, however, he’s tired of fighting, and he’s entirely too eager to have Alfie inside him. So he shamelessly strips off the rest of his clothes with methodical precision, not a single word of disobedience crosses his lips.
He’s not however, moving fast enough for Alfie apparently as the self-proclaimed patient man huffs in what is clearly displeasure at being kept waiting.
“Come on Tommy, gonna be as limp as a dead fish in a minute if you don’t get on wiv’ it.”
“Shut the fuck up, Alfie.” Tommy replies, pleased that his defiance has finally decided to show up. And before Alfie can utter another word to wind him up Tommy produces a small bottle of oil, pops the lid, coats his fingers, and grabs Alfie’s cock. He pumps him vigorously up and down, effectively cutting off the impatient man’s whining with force of action.
Luckily, Tommy had already prepped himself on his fingers in the bath this morning, so getting Alfie inside him is the only priority now. He climbs back onto the man’s thighs, pushes Alfie back against the high rise of the chair with one hand firmly on his chest, raises himself up onto his knees whilst the other hand still tightly grips Alfie’s greedy cock. Once he feels secure in his new position he lines Alfie’s weeping head to his already slickened entrance and slams home without any prior warning. Tommy takes it all in one go, he throws his head back in satisfaction and grinds his hips back and forth to widen the stretch. He feels full.
Alfie has been sceptically quiet the entire time. Tommy can hear the occasional grunt, but for a man of many, many words, he’s suspiciously docile.
“What’s the matter, Alfie?” Tommy asks goadingly, surprising himself at the steadiness of his voice as he casually bounces up and down the hard length inside him. “Cat got your, tongue?” He prods further, hoping to elicit a response from his silent lover.
“Yeah, yeah,” Alfie says, continuing to groan unintelligibly as he plants his feet on the ground to steady himself. “The cat, right. Feral fucking thing, yeah…” He continues to babble, thrusting his hips up into Tommy, catching him on his downward descent, which knocks the breath from his lungs at the sheer force behind it. “Got some fucking claws on it, mate. Caught a man by surprise didn’t it. Won’t ‘appen again.”
Alfie’s thrusts are relentless from that point onwards; he fucks him hard and fast, like a man possessed. It’s almost like he’s trying to punish Tommy for his earlier stunt. Alfie hates being caught off-guard. But Tommy considers it a win as he lets Alfie fill him up until he’s a boneless mess of useless limbs. They continue their back and forth for what feels like hours.
Tommy’s head lolls, his mouth drops open, and his eyes roll back into his skull; completely spellbound in Alfie’s formidable brutality. Eventually he feels a steady palm wrap around his exposed neck to hold him still. The pressure brings him back down to earth. He locks eyes with Alfie and is drawn in by the look of awe written plainly across his face. He allows himself a moment of peace as he refuses to look away, goading the other man to be the one to break the connection. He’s so distracted by the tenderness he sees reflected in Alfie’s gaze that he barely notices he’s being pulled in for a kiss. It’s gentle and sweet when their lips finally touch; a stark contrast to their usual ruthlessness. He thinks he kinda likes it.
The kiss ends when Alfie strikes the sweet spot inside of him, as his lips are ripped from their sanctuary with an audible moan. Tommy’s overwhelmed by the gentle turn of their fucking that he can’t quite handle the way it sparks something scorching hot in the pit of his stomach. And that, plus the feeling of Alfie nailing his prostate on every upward thrust causes him to reach his climax a lot sooner than expected. He falls into the crook of Alfie’s neck and bites down hard when he comes, painting both himself and Alfie’s chest in ropes of white. He can feel Alfie’s momentum waning, the stutter in his hips giving him away.
“Come inside me, Alfie.” Tommy whispers into his neck.
It prompts the exact response he was hoping for as Alfie pumps into him once, twice, thrice before roaring in Tommy’s ear and letting himself be drained dry, completely spent. They slump together messily after they’re done; a mixture of come, sweat, blood, and tears as they catch their breaths.
Tommy comes around first, but he can’t quite bring himself to move just yet, doesn’t want to. So he stays, exactly where he fell, stroking soft caresses down the back of Alfie’s neck. He’s content right where he is; alive for the first time since his failure on the stage that was his latest battlefield. He allows that thought to die swiftly as he lets himself be held by the solid arms of Alfie Solomons. Knowing now he might just have the strength to do what needs to be done.
But for now, he just needs this.
Tommy Shelby lives.

No Country For Heroes - Becoming a Superhero (final)
Plot: the GCPD turns Jim in, in turn for Oswald’s protection who takes the opportunity to bend the detective to his will. (TW for torture, mind control, dub con). Originally written for the prompt ‘beg’ by @justsimplymeagain. Special thx to @whomerlockwood. I sincerely hope the last chapter meets your expectations!
Read the entire fic on Ao3.
Chapter 12 - Being a Superhero:
It turns out, Oswald has indeed never lied. Not to Jim that is. All he did was load an already existent gun and wait for it to go off.
Jim Gordon walks the streets of Gotham once more now that he’s been set free, leaving a trail of blood in his wake. He started off with Jeremia, the clown who set their beloved city on fire, and in turn, Jim sets him on fire, burns him to cinder until no magic pit will ever be able to bring this plague that the man was back to Gotham.
It’s liberating, Jim thinks, extinguishing what has been tormenting them all without the usual guilt, without consequences, without any fallout, without any paperwork to follow. This time no fear-stricken jury will for him allow to walk free, no corrupt judge will twist the truth.
To the world, Jim is gone, disappeared like an especially annoying mosquito that has finally flown into the light.
Jim knows he isn’t missed, not by Gotham’s citizens who had been as quick to condemn him as to declare him their hero. He’s certainly not missed by the GCPD who had regarded him as a nuisance on good days, and as a threat on bad days. The only person mourning him is Harvey, yet even he can’t muster up the courage of asking too many, too uncomfortable questions. As loyal as Harvey was to him in life, he’s also interested in saving his own skin. Maybe he simply believes the Penguin. He isn’t dead after all - just very different.
With his face hidden and his body enshrouded in layers of protective gear, it’s easy to make his way around the city unnoticed, to stalk on his prey. Once more Gotham celebrates a hero when rumors arise about the horrible demise of the next rogue. And then another.
Oswald had been honest. He never interferes in Jim’s quest. Whoever he deems worthy of his death, is free for the taking - ally to the Penguin or not. Maybe he doesn't care, with the Penguin, today's ally will always be tomorrow's enemy, anyway.
When the news reports another mobster being found on the shores of Gotham’s river, Oswald merely shrugs his shoulders as he tends to his knight’s wounds. Jim shudders when Oswald wraps the bandages around his bruised arms, utter devotion writ clear on his face, adoration leading his every action.
Jim finally understands what unconditional love looks like.
It’s beautiful.
He has to silence the traitorous voices yelling at him how that isn’t the truth. In his head, he can’t marry the concept of the man kneeling before him with the one torturing him. But was it really torture? Hasn’t he freed him?
Jim has to test Oswald, needs to see how far he can really take it. When Edward, the Riddler, forces his little games upon the citizens once more, Jim steps in, and makes sure there will be no more riddles to solve.
He certainly notes the brief flash of pain on the other man’s face upon receiving the news. Yet before Jim’s jealousy can spike, the expression is gone. Oswald simply takes the bit of information as if receiving the weather report.
When taking Jim to bed, he maybe fucks him just a bit harder, is a tad bit rougher than usual, but then Oswald has always liked a bit of dominance.
“I know why you did it,” he whispers, the hint of a smile tugging at his lips.
Holding his breath, Jim waits for him to elaborate. “You feared I’d tire of you,” he declares smugly. “Exchange you for the Riddler.” Pulling Jim close, he presses a delicate kiss against his forehead. “My silly darling,” he tells him fondly, “I knew exactly I’d get my revenge once I’d let you be you.” He laughs softly at Jim’s confusion. Eyes shining brightly, he claims him again. “Don’t be afraid,” Oswald pants. “Now that you’re mine, I’ll never let you leave, never tire of you.”
The next day, Jim walks into the night again, saves a young woman from getting mugged, and feels like he has never been more beneficial to the city he vowed to protect. If only he had seen earlier how far he needs to go, he might have been able to prevent so much more, to rectify so many wrongs.
The robber bleeding out in the streets is not even nineteen years old. Jim feels a pang of guilt as he watches the light fade from his eyes. But he had a choice, didn’t he? He could have simply not robbed the poor woman.
Jim tries not to think about how a city like Gotham, a city in which the rich bathe in golden bathtubs, and the poor starve to death, probably forced his hand.
He merely turns around and runs away. Away from another corpse and away from his conscience. The next morning, the Gazette will celebrate an anonymous hero.
They all fall by Jim’s hands: the rogues, the little thugs, the worn-down mobsters, the corrupt cops.
Jim sees Harvey one day. Knows full well he isn’t better than the rest, not when he can afford again his apartment in the inner-city. He’s looking over his shoulder, clearly nervous now with a self-proclaimed hero, a vigilante, running wild. Jim knows he’s being a hypocrite here, is making a small exception, but he hasn’t any evidence to back his suspicions up, isn’t digging for it either, and of course, there’s another issue.
He remembers Harvey. It’s not a real memory, more like a vision from another life. True, the man held him back, was in his way of being who he truly was supposed to be, but looking at him, there’s a something stirring in his chest, an ache he can’t place. He swallows and tries pushing the feeling back down.
He wants to run over to him, tell him how he will never have to fear him. He doesn’t. If his colleagues knew he was collaborating with the crusader, he’d truly have a reason to grow a second pair of eyes on his back.
Jim is desperate. Two months have passed since he first set out to be the hero Oswald regards him to be and the city isn’t better off.
True, the bridges have been rebuilt, Gotham is once more connected with the mainland, nobody’s starving to death, but that would have happened anyway.
Jim is a hero. The media are praising the unknown warrior who made it his mission to keep the streets safe for the citizens to walk. Even Bruce Wayne gives a comment on his efforts, points out with a man like the Ghost , a name he had been given for his ability to flee the scenes of his crimes so quickly, his parents might still be alive. He condemns him murdering people, though.
“You’re not committing crimes, James,” Oswald scoffs when the blonde buries his head in his hands. “You’re doing what should have been done ages ago.” And then he kisses the sorrow right off his face, pulls him to bed, and takes him apart. Jim listens to him whispering sweet nothings in his ear, basks in the feeling of finally being at home.
Now, he has someone to come home to. And whatever Jim does on his crusade, Oswald won’t judge any of it, will encourage him while looking up at him with big, shining eyes. To Oswald, Jim became the hero he always saw in him, and to Jim, Oswald turned into his adoring sweetheart, the maiden waiting at the shores for him to come home.
Of course, it’s a charade, a play for both their entertainment. Oswald is no blushing virgin, and Jim is no white knight. But together, they can pretend.
The voices in Jim’s head keep getting louder each day. Yet another criminal ends up with a bullet between their eyes and the blood splatters Jim’s chest, coats his face, his lips.
He wipes it off, but he can still taste something on the tip of his tongue. The taste is not how it’s supposed to be, lacking the familiarity of salt and copper. It’s wrong in a way Jim can’t tell, nothing like blood should taste.
Staring down at the corpse, he wonders what it changes. Yesterday, he killed another one, and tomorrow he’ll probably kill one more, yet each time he takes a criminal off the streets, another man or woman takes their place as if his actions meant nothing.
Jim wipes his face once more, smacks his tongue against his teeth, but the taste won’t fade. He rolls the body over, until it’s facing the pavement, not judging him with its lifeless eyes.
He kneels down, digs his fingers into the dirt. Jim needs to feel again. As his knuckles turn white, his fingers turn bloody. He wishes he could rip out the entire pavement.
Whatever he is doing, it’s useless. And then he remembers. The real reason he wanted to become a cop, to look for evidence, to connect the dots, make arrests, and not simply shoot a murderer on sight: he wanted a real change.
Now, he’s merely taking pawns off a board while the board itself stays the same. He can remove token after token, yet if there’s an infinite supply of them, what does it matter? As a hero, a vigilante, he’s just another wild card, the game stays inevitably the same.
Yet what he always wanted to do, was changing the rules of the game, or rip away the entire board.
The cry thorn from his throat sounds like a broken howl.
Jim turns on his heel, runs home, only to throw himself into the Penguin’s waiting arms. Everything clicks into place as he remembers what this truly is, what they truly are. If Jim is a pawn, Oswald is the entire board.
The pale man rubs soothing circles against his back as he holds Jim. When their eyes meet, the blonde swallows heavily. How could he have ever forgotten? Like a spider in the center of a web, Oswald controls the entire city.
But then Jim wouldn’t or couldn’t take him down before. He had betrayed himself and this city all those years, and it had been done out of love. And even if Jim Gordon’s life had become a lie, that one bit was true.
Therefore his voice steady as he speaks, even if the sobs made it hoarse. “I taste rotten milk,” he whispers, looking terrified at the Penguin, who in turn merely sighs.
“Oh Jim,” he says. “And here I really never wanted to hurt you again.”

tehe I liked this one
Jonah, Sirius, Edgar and Harr giving you a piggy back when you break your ankle and he needs to get you to the doctor!
Sirius Oswald
oh dear, he thinks the second he hears the pop, then the crack admit from your ankle. And his heart is breaking when your face suddenly crinkles in pain, and you’re biting your lip to stop yourself from calling out and crying.
“Where does it hurt?” he asks, gently inspecting your ankle. It’s swelling, and turning an awful black and blue.
You put on a very brave front, even laughing a little at your clumsiness, but he can see by the way you every so often blink rapidly, you’re trying to push back tears and hide the pain.
Sirius chuckles as he cups your cheek. “What am I going to do with you, little lady?”
You’ll be confused at first when he bends down in front of you, until he finally tells you he’s giving you a piggy back ride.
A piggy back ride from Sirius is something you’d never refuse, even if it’s in unfavorable circumstances.
He has nice, long legs, so he gets you to the infirmary very fast, but the whole time there, he’s talking to you to keep you distracted from the pain.
“Luka taught me how to make cookies today.”
“Would you like to hear something ridiculous Fenrir and Ray did earlier?”
“Did you know flowers have a language?”
Your whole healing period, he is very attentive towards you, always making sure you are comfortable and that your foot is elevated, being iced or heated when necessary.
At night, when the two of you are alone, he’ll hold your foot and press little gentle kiss to where it’s bruised from the break, his lips lingering just a little.
Jonah Clemence
the darling queen is a panicking mess when he hears the defining crack of your ankle snapping when you trip down the stairs,
your ankle twisting from slipping in your heals, being the cause of it.
And he is horrified with himself that he didn’t catch you in time, or even just grab your arm to stop you from falling down.
In retrospect, your injury doesn’t come from falling down the stairs, actually, but the twist in the heal itself. Either way, he is blaming himself and truly mortified as he thinks, what kind of a boyfriend am I to not stop my own girlfriend from breaking her ankle?!?
He wipes at an involuntary tear that slips down your face from the stinging pain. You’re not far from the castle, but waiting for a carriage will only add to unnecessary waiting whilst you’re sitting in pain, and he could easily get you there quicker by carrying.
“Come on, get on my back!”
“Wha— Jonah!”
“Let me carry you! I promise I won’t drop you, so just do as you’re told.”
You roll your eyes, but give in to him, carefully getting onto his back as he kneels down for you. He wraps his arms around your legs and makes sure you’re holding on tight.
He’s not really running but he’s walking at a very quick pace, a look of determination amongst his doll like features. You rest head against the crook of his neck.
Though these are certainly not favorable circumstances, it feels nice to receive a piggy back from Jonah, something you don’t see him really ever offering. Even with how eccentric he is.
A bright, pink blush tints his cheek as he feels your soft lips against the bare skin just below his ear, and your warm breath as you whisper a simple, “Thank you.”
“Hmph— no need to thank me!” he says, bouncing you a little more up his back. The castle is just ahead now. “I’m only doing what a man must do for his lady!”
Edgar Bright
Edgar wasn’t there when you fell and broke your ankle. It was one of his men who came rushing to him he was taking a leak and asked that you were to be watched, panting and frantically telling him what happened.
And let me tell you, he is fuming— not at you, but at his men for not keeping a better eye on you, as he specifically said to watch you while he’s gone for a moment. Poor man thinks I can’t even go to the bathroom without something happening.
He has a rather sadistic smile on his face as he tells the soldiers he will see to them momentarily.
With help, he’s getting you situated on his back, and he’s booking it to Kyle. He can tell you’re in a lot of pain, though you try to hide it by burying your face in his back. But Edgar isn’t dumb,
and besides, he can feel the little bit of bare skin on his neck becoming damp. his poor, precious girl
“What am I going to do with you, silly girl,” he chuckles to lighten the mood. “Hold on tight, MC, we’ll be there soon. Just hang in there!”
He holds your hand the whole time as your foot is getting wrapped up. He can see the sorrowful look on your face; the way you mourn the freedom of your movement is… cute to him, though he feels terrible.
He chuckles and ruffles your hair before pressing a tender kiss to your forehead. “Don’t fret, MC, you’ll be up on your feet and injuring yourself even more in no time!”
Harr Silver
Oh boy. Oooohhh boy. Oh fucking boy. Harr was not prepared for this. And like Jonah, will be absolutely kicking himself for not keeping a better eye on you.
I mean, you’re an adult, he doesn’t need to— but you were climbing a tree in attempts get closer to a birds nest, he should have probably been watching instead of letting his focus stray elsewhere.
Now you were in a heap on the ground, your dress a over your head, torn and dirty, and your ankle horribly sprained.
Using magic on injuries can be dangerous at times, so though he contemplates using it to heal you, his intuition tells him it’s best to get you to the doctor at the red army instead then trying to cure it himself.
Chances are you got a concussion too after your fall, you’re a little dizzy and very out of it. “MC. Wrap your arms around my neck.”
He carefully lifts you from the ground, slumping over slightly to properly situate you on his back. He takes a careful hold of your legs, keeping them wrapped around his torso. “Don’t let go, ok?”
The whole way, he’ll be constantly asking if you are ok. He’s really concerned for you, and worries this might effect whether or not you’ll want to come back and visit his home—though of course it won’t.
And once he has finally got you to Kyle, he’s going to be holding your hand blushing furiously because of PDA and trying to comfort you as you’re getting your foot wrapped up. So expect some awkward pats on the head, or looking into your face to ask, “You’re not in any more pain, right?” blessed boy, best boy

Tumblr media
Hoffmann & Tennstedt (Das Boot) The baby face & the stone face. :) The biggest reason for this series is my sister, who tried to lure me into the fandom already last summer by showing the first episode. Sadly it was a far too distressing experience. The story is about a WW2 German warfare, so it isn’t very light entertainment for Saturday night. The show seemed like a worth watching production, though, but I doubted if I could ever watch it completely. After visiting Berlin now in February 2020 there was no hesitation anymore. The story focuses on the Nazi German submarine, U-612, and the occupied city of La Rochelle in France. However, not everything is as black and white as one might expect. One of the biggest messages of the show is that war is always brutal, no matter which side you fight. The innocent are always suffering. It also shows how the ideal thoughts of warfare crumble, if it comes at the cost of greed, deception, health or life. There is disagreement among the leaders on boat, too. The new commander, kaleun Klaus Hoffmann, is young and inexperienced but kind-hearted and wise. Next on the scale, IWO Karl Tennstedt, is an experienced sailor and an glory-seeking soldier, who envies Hoffamann's position. He regards Hoffmann as incompetent and a disgrace to Germany. So, there is plenty of tension between these two!
Tumblr media
Louis & Philippe (Versailles) I started watching the show sometime in 2015, but found it quite distasteful. It was more brutal than expected, and I was overwhelmed by people's greed and dirty behavior, so I stopped watching after a few episodes. Every now and then I saw pics/gifs on Tumblr, especially of Monsieur and Chevalier, that I finally wanted to give another chance in January 2020.  This time the experience was the opposite, and I got a better grip on the story. I was surprised how little I liked the popular Monchevy pair and, instead, so much the quarreling brothers. I was very moved when they joked with each other and showed brotherly love. In the scenes of conflict, I missed their compassion. I haven't watched the rest of seasons 2-3 yet, so I don't know if they get better. I hope so because together they would be a powerful duo.
Tumblr media
Matt & Cherry (Red River) I had recorded Red River (1948) on my set-top box, and the closing date was expiring in December 2018. It was Montgomery Clift’s breakthrough movie, so it was a must see. The movie was a refreshingly different western, where the hero is not a macho cowboy and John Wayne a bad guy for a change. But most of all, I was amazed how Cherry Valance's behavior towards Matt Garth was so heavily double entendre. At first they are presented as challengers and opponents of each other. Slowly Cherry starts to show admiration for Matt, and increasingly talks about his gun. In return, Matt needs Cherry's shooting skills to herd cattle. Eventually they become each other's trusted ones. I always find it fascinating, if tension begins to develop between the opposing characters. If the story has a couple that doesn't change, develope or lacks dynamics, it probably won't arouse interest.
Tumblr media
Fritz & Dr. Frankenstein (Frankenstein) I had seen a Tumblr gif of Renfield crawling in Dracula (1931) in August 2018. It was Dwight Frye’s breakthrough role. The movie inspired me to watch other Universal monster movies, of which Frankenstein (1931) became my favorite. The work pair of the story, these two outcasts of society, melted my heart. For unexplained reason they have joined their forces and seem to be working well together. They have a mutual partnership, where they can act naturally without fear. Their work is unique, e.g. digging the graves or snatching hanged bodies, but they treat it like any other dayily job. Somehow, I like this way of approach. Actually I have written about Fritz already earlier, where I take a closer look at their relationship. The text can be read here.
Tumblr media
Adrian & Antony (Sebastiane) Well, this couple is a specialty of its own. They are another ones found through Tumblr. I saw a picture of them in June 2018 which led me to watch the film. In terms of story or acting, it's not a very special movie but technically professional level. First of all, it was shot under the blazing Sicilian sun on 35 mm film. The light is a vital factor when using a film camera, so the pictures look very rich. The scenes, where these two are having fun together in slow motion, are breathtaking. I had never seen anything like it before and, in my opinion, stole all the attention of the story since they were just characters in supporting roles. It was like a gay paradise on earth.  Here I realize the importance in the way how the characters are presented. The technical presentation can play a surprisingly huge role when we try to read and understand the characters. It can influence us either to share their thoughts or to move even further away from them. Bonus points I give for Latin, which the entire cast is speaking in the film. I would also like to clarify that this is not a p**n movie or a family movie either. It’s a gay erotic story with some full frontal nudity.
Tumblr media
Reinhold & Conrad I’m not sure if this is a ship or fandom, but I feel extreme warmth and joy for this pair (the Berlin trip may have something to do with this). They are also the only people from real life instead of characters. I’d like to share my story about them, unfortunately it's very long (I've never been a fluent writer) but explains my interest in more detail. I got to know Conrad Veidt already in high school at the turn of the millennium, the time before DVDs. Near the school there was a buy-sell-exchange movie shop, where my sister and I visited regularly. Somehow we ended up with the idea that we wanted to see The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920), so we went to the store again. There was no copy, as expected, but the seller said he would keep in mind if one came up. Months passed and after a long break we visited our regular place again. This time, the man had news for us: he had received a copy and kept it in safe for us. We couldn’t believe our eyes and ears. First of all, the kindness of the man made us speechless, and secondly, we never thought we would get our own copy of such popular rarity. At that time movies were not re-released as often as they are today. It was a VHS cassette, bw, not tinted like the original version, and its quality was far from the 4K richness and sharpness. My sister still has the tape and is one of the treasures she will never give away. For years the film was the only Conrad movie we saw, along with Casablanca - until the digital age and the social media arrived. Again I have to thank Tumblr, where I found the actor Anton Walbrook. One of his most famous films, Viktor und Viktoria (1933), is directed by Reinhold Schünzel, whom I knew from Conrad's film Different from the Others (1919). I began to study Reinhold's background more closely in December 2017, and it turned out that he is a forgotten multi-talent in the film industry: He was a versatile performer in comedies and dramas, a prolific director and an idea-rich screenwriter. He had an eye for creating stories that were told in the minds of people in addition to acting and lines. He questioned gender roles and built juicy plot twists around them. He loved theater and was a popular celebrity in 1920’s Germany. He was also a colleague and friend of Conrad. They began their film careers at the same time in Richard Oswald's films, shared the ups and downs, even their wardrobe, and reached fame. Eventually they both had to emigrate from the national socialist Germany, so their paths parted. The following reunions were always a joy, “like the meeting of comrades who fought in many wars together”. Reinhold was supposed to direct Conrad’s first film at MGM in Hollywood, but the plans were changed. They never got to work together since the German years, when Conrad died suddenly. “Part of my life is gone forever”, as Reinhold wrote in his tribute to Connie's death in 1943. He returned to Germany in the end of 1940s and died in Munich in 1954. This is why they are so precious to me and why I find it important to share the memory of these two lifelong friends. The picture is from Eerie Tales (1919), one of their earliest movies together with the director: Reinhold, Richard and Conrad. Reinhold’s full tribute can be read here.

This is the second article that Film Daily has published about Gotham.
Gotham is an innovative show based on DC Comics characters and produced by Warner Bros. Television. The Batman origin narrative helped us, as rapt viewers understand how our favorite heroes (Batman) and villains (The Joker, Penguin) came to be the way they are. It also cast a light on just how Gotham City became the wretched crime-filled cesspool we all know & love.
Despite general network issues (the old “being moved to a much worse timeslot” thing), Gotham’s fanbase managed to rally Fox into renewing the show for a fifth and final season – a whopping two seasons short of what the fanbase were promised.
Gotham certainly doesn’t have a shortage of fans or viewers but Fox, like many networks before, has been using the outdated Neilsen rating system to make decisions about shows’ popularity. Let’s be serious: who under the age of 70 actually watches live TV anymore?
Just because an episode gets a viewing figure below that of a series premiere or finale, that doesn’t mean the viewership has fallen considerably. Networks now have a responsibility to establish a dialogue with streaming platforms to consolidate more accurate figures and finally find out for themselves which are the best performers.
Because Gotham is a Warner Bros. production, not a Fox property, sadly the show was less lucrative and more expendable for the network. The show being packaged with the hot mess Lethal Weapon for advertising partnerships also didn’t do the show any favors.
We’ve got plenty of ideas on how Gotham could be saved, but today we’re focusing on what the fans think of the show. TV execs: prick up your ears. Don’t you want to help this incredibly passionate fandom with a continuation of the stories that they love? We would . . . .
These tweets have been edited and condensed for clarity. Join the campaign to #SaveGotham over on Twitter. (Tweets by Fans, under the cut.

“Gotham lost about 54 episodes of content, the character development and storylines were lost due to that, some characters had to be killed, others didn’t have the screen time they deserved. We fans were not happy about it.”
Bandi
People say that Gotham doesn’t need saving because it’s getting an ending. This is true, but the ending we’re getting isn’t the planned one. The writers had plans for 7 seasons. That’s a lot of story left! We got 4.5 instead.”

“Gotham is such an original show. It the closest thing we got to a live action adaption of the Batman origin story universe and it’s so good!”
catherine haverty‏
“Gotham is The Coolest Show.”
Angela #SAVEGOTHAM‏
“This show has been mishandled for so many years by the network. Not only was there so little promotion, the use of a outdated & inaccurate rating system(Nielsen),but there was so much drama that went on with Warner Brothers & Fox. All this played a part in getting Gotham cancelled.”

“Gotham is a show that truly deserves more than is has received. For years we’ve watched the early lives of beloved characters in the Batman universe grow into who we know they’ll become. Each of these characters are played by actors that pour their soul into their work.”

“Gotham’s provided a fresh take on the Batman mythos, created original characters of lasting merit, and re-worked minor comic characters to have major impact. #SaveGotham”

“This show deserves better. The acting is incredible, the writing never cease to surprise, the atmosphere of the show is powerful, the fights are good, the costumes are great! It’s one of the best if not DC TV’s best show and it didn’t deserve to end like this.”

“I believe it should be saved as there’s many more more stories to tell. Giving more development to Jeremiah, seeing Bruce as Batman and everyone in their future roles. I feel like Gotham is the perfect combination of The Dark Knight Trilogy And the 60’s Batman TV show. It’s great.”

“Gotham’s latest season currently scores 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s a unique take on the Batman mythos that’s embraced the exploration and development of these iconic characters in a prequel, which has never been done before. And yet, there is still so much left to delve into.”
E. Nygma‏
“There hasn’t been a live action Batman TV series since 1966. Put aside the format of the original series. It was revolutionary and could easily fit in today’s market! Gotham may be a prequel show, but it’s absolutely a continuation of the original series! Let it go on!”

AU Yeah August Day Nine - Restaurant
Rating: T Genre: General, Angst Pairing(s): Cornelius x Velvet (minor) Summary: Velvet and her twin brother run the Pooka Café. Her favorite customer comes by for a visit looking rather down. Warning: No beta! Warning: This story is connected to a previous year fill “Roommates” and mentions of both attempted and failed suicide. This is before mentioned story.
The Pooka Café was a quaint place; cute and fantastically modern with just enough to feel ‘homey’ and welcoming to customers. As the name suggests, the theme was around ‘Pooka’ - more their good fortune than bad, and all the employees had something rabbit-themed integrated into their uniform. The owners and managers went a little step further, but only for the sake of standing out from their employees.
As such, it was always possible to know when one owner, Velvet, was in. She enjoyed wearing rabbit ears that matched her blonde hair and wearing a hair tie that jingled with almost every step she made. If anyone needed her - be it customer or employee - she could be audibly and visually found.
That jingling could be heard as she approached one table in particular, where a young and troubled blonde male sat idly stirring his latte.
“Well, this isn’t like you. I promise that Ingway didn’t prepare your drink today…”
Even glancing back towards the front, her twin was occupied with a few orders expecting foam art. Turning around to face the young man again, she rested a hand on her hip.
“... Is this about that student again? The one you said the whole student body thinks is an assassin?”
The stirring stopped and he nodded, rubbing his temple. It had been like this for a few months now; Cornelius had started coming two weeks after his school resumed session having earned a spot in student council and receiving increasing reports on another student named Oswald. From his stories, nothing about the other male was of actual issue save for an instance of self-defense (and maybe almost killing the other student), but that was on the instigator. While wondering if it was another bogus claim and Cornelius was just growing weary from work, he suddenly spoke.
“Velvet, he had to go to the hospital today.”
“... What?”
Glancing back around, they were far enough from other patrons. Pulling out the chair across from him, she sat down and leaned in. “Cornelius, what happened?”
“I-I honestly don’t know. The only reason I found him was due to his unusual absence.” Cornelius’s silver eyes remained downcast, staring at the swirling contents of his cup. “He somehow manages to maintain a punctual attendance record for his classes, but when he was nowhere to be found for first period, I offered to check his room. When I got there… Velvet, he’d tried to kill himself.”
Her violet eyes widened and for a moment, she was at a loss of what to say. Or, maybe it was less she didn’t know what to say and more that it felt familiar. Not that she had made attempts before, but there had been plenty of consideration - both herself and Ingway before they found help. It was reflexive to think that could’ve been them and then remind herself it wasn’t; it was someone else.
“You managed to save him, Cornelius. That’s a good thing.”
“... I don’t know if I did.”
Her puzzlement would be visibly evident, but her eyes opened more because it looked like he was about to cry. “Velvet, he needed a blood transfusion. I offered while they were trying to reach his emergency contacts and… and it turns out he’s my cousin.”
“He’s… but I thought you didn’t have an uncle?”
“I thought I didn’t, but that’s because my grandfather… God, Velvet, I don’t even know where to begin.”
No wonder he was out of it. While he wasn’t anywhere close to a nervous breakdown, he was overwhelmed and emotionally coming apart. Velvet had known his family had its issues because most did, but even she hadn’t expected it to begin creeping towards her own level of familial issues. Reaching across the table, she took hold of his hand and let him squeeze. She didn’t say anything, giving him several minutes of silence to try gathering himself before offering any of her own advice on the matter. If she was right, Cornelius found out why he never knew about his Uncle and even some details about his cousin. He probably already spoke to his father which was why he was here.
He wanted to know what to do next, but he couldn’t think straight.
“... Cornelius, I’m going to give you a number,” she started, letting go of his hand in order to pull out her pad meant to take orders. “You don’t need to call it now, you don’t even need to call it at all, but it’s there for you and they’ll be able to help you come to terms with these revelations, okay? He can even help Oswald if he’s willing to accept.”
Pulling off the ticket, she folded it and handed it over to Cornelius who seemed unsure, but accepting of it nonetheless.
“Thank you, Velvet… and thank you for listening. Today’s just… everything at once decided to reveal itself as truth and everywhere I turned, there only seemed to be more to add.”
“I’ll always listen, Cornelius. I wish I could be more equipped to help you with everything, but I’m still studying.” That, and it would likely be considered a conflict of interest. “We can talk about it more once I’m finished with work, but right now, you need to think about what you need to do… or do what you’re already planning.”
“Planning? I haven’t considered anything yet.”
“I seriously doubt that. You rarely stop thinking.” Resting her elbow on the table to cradle her head against her palm, she smiled his way. “Just tell me all about it once everything’s already in motion.”
“You should be discouraging me from acting recklessly...”
“I should, but… when you seem to do things, it comes out alright in the end.” Standing up, she pushed her chair back in and walked around the table. A hand resting on his shoulder, she leaned in and kissed his forehead. “Oh, and just so you know, they usually allow a family member to stay overnight in the hospital… if you want to start that process.”
“Is that so? … Thank you, Velvet.”
“You’re welcome.” Turning to walk away as he began to chug his latte, she did have to add. “Ingway handled the foam so you might--”
The coughing that followed had her shooting a glare at her twin, just casually sipping his own coffee at the counter.

Chapter 8
Emerald’s P.O.V
Jerri and I had changed my email and phone number, which I had then sent out to just Oswald, Victor and obviously Jerri. I felt a little more at ease now with these changes put into place. I went to work like normal for the rest of the week. The rest of the week was normal, no emails, no text messages and surprisingly no mail. Maybe it was because I hadn’t retaliated so they were bored. Good riddance.
I awoke a little earlier than normal and checked my phone on instinct. I frowned to see I had a bunch of messages from Victor and Oswald as well as missed calls. Maybe I should not have my phone on silent so much. I read through the texts and frowned. Both of them seemed worried, almost upset. I scrolled further up to see what could have evoked this response from both of them. I found a text that I don’t remember sending that had been sent to them. I frowned, not only had I not sent that I wouldn’t sent that.
From here on out, I don’t want nothing to do with you. Don’t contact me again. I rang Oswald and he picked up on the second ring. “What was that all about?” He asked, hurt clear in his voice. “I honestly don’t know-“ “Emerald if this is some kind of practical joke it isn’t funny.” “I can assure you that it’s not. I honestly have no idea what’s going on. Please just let me explain.” I told Oswald about the mysterious mail from last week and who I thought it might be behind it.
“Why didn’t you tell me beforehand?” He asked. “I didn’t want you to get involved. I thought it was nothing, something I would be able to handle myself.” “Emerald, I want you to call Victor and tell him what you’ve told me and then the three of us will meet up for coffee where we can all talk about this,” Oswald explained. “Alright.” I hung up and called Victor, explaining the situation to him. I got dressed for the day and got into my car heading to the mansion. I really hope Ed wasn’t there.
Oswald opened the door and ushered me inside. I’d made sure to bring psychical copies of everything received so far. He led me into the lounge area where Victor was waiting. Oswald and I sat down, the three of us in front of the fire around the small coffee table. I showed them the mail and sipped my coffee. I could sense Victors anger, he had very few friends and those he did have he was very protective over. A lot like Oswald. “I think somehow they must have hacked my phone,” I spoke. “That would explain it.”
There was a soft knock on the door, making all three of us whip our heads round to see who it was. Dammit. For once why couldn’t he be out with his bloody girlfriend? Ed entered the room, not looking too impressed to see me. His phone was in his hand. Oh god, not him too. “I thought you didn’t want to see any of us again,” he spoke. Victor narrowed his eyes at him as if to tell him to shut up. Oswald motioned for Ed to pull up a chair so I could explain the situation to him as well. I was starting to get a little fed up with repeating myself but I guess now he had to know.
Once I had told Ed, he apologized. It still didn’t make me feel any better thinking that his girlfriend could be the one behind this. There was no way I could say that to him, it would just cause more tension between us which I’m sure Is what she wanted. Yet with Ed’s brain he was one of the best people to help. He studied the letters and then turned to Victor. “The best course of action would be to scare the creep off or if that doesn’t work then kill them. We’ll need to lure them into thinking that you still haven’t told anybody. That way they will soon start to get bolder, when they do Victor will be there to deal with them,” Ed explained.
The four of us agreed this would be a good plan. They were already starting to get bolder by trying to isolate me from my few friends. “You know you’re always welcome to stay here,” Oswald said. “I couldn’t leave Jerri alone, not with that creep out there.” “Victor would you help me get more tea and coffee please,” Oswald motioned over to the door. Victor raised an eyebrow but didn’t argue and the two of them left, leaving Ed and I alone. An uncomfortable silence filled the room.
I decided to be the polite one, “how’s things with Isabella? “ “They’re great, thank you. I’m sorry this is happening to you.” “I'll get through it, I've had worse.” “I do admit the three of us do miss you a lot though.” I felt my heart pick up its pace, “you do?” “Of course. Oswald’s missing the baked goods, I’m missing the company.” “But you have Isabella.” “I can’t be with her all the time, she has to work, as do I.”
“I miss being here too. Just the three of us,” I spoke. “I’m sorry I didn’t exactly tell you about Isabella in the best way.” “I’m sorry I was a complete bitch over dinner. But I need you to put my mind at ease. I know this might upset you and understandably so but Isabella isn’t behind this is she?” I saw annoyance flash across his face as expected. “Your sounding paranoid. But I can assure you it’s not her. I wouldn’t still be with her if it was. I value our friendship too much.”
I smiled and pulled him into a tight hug, which he quickly returned. “I'd like to apologize to her, she likes muffins, cupcakes and cookies, right?” I asked. “She does have quite the sweet tooth yes.” “I suppose I'll have to make Oswald and Victor their own batch too.” At this point Oswald and Victor came back into the room, Victor carrying a full tea tray. After a few more drinks I decided I should probably head back home. Victor followed me out to the hallway. “You'll be ok getting home?” He asked. “Yeah, todays helped me feel a bit better. Again, I’m sorry about the texts. I hope they don’t send anymore.”
My phone began to vibrate in my pocket and I frowned. It must be Jerri. I pulled it out my pocket and checked the caller i.d. Unknown number. What if it was my stalker? I hesitantly pressed the answer button and held the phone to my ear. “Hello?” I questioned. The other end was silent. I glanced at Victor who was ready to jump into action as if my stalker would somehow attack me through the phone. “Hello?” I tried once more. Now I could hear breathing. I quickly hung up and redialled the number but of course it was blocked.
Oswald and Ed had since joined us in the hallway and took in my frightful expression. The phone rang again, the same unknown number. Oswald held out his hand for my phone. I glanced down at the red reject symbol before handing him my phone. He answered and pressed the phone to his ear. “Now you listen to me, my name is Oswald Cobblepot. You might know me as the mayor and the king of Gotham’s underworld so my advice to you is to leave my friend alone or I will find you and have you killed,” Oswald bragged.
I held back an eye roll. This was Oswald’s only way of getting what he wanted, threatening people. This was only going to make the situation worse. Oswald hung up and handed me back my phone. Goodbyes were exchanged and Victor led me to my car. “I’m going to follow you back to your apartment, just in case,” he spoke. “Your sounding more paranoid than me,” I joked. “I just want to make sure your safe.” We got into our separate cars and Victor followed closed behind. Once I had parked I glanced back to wave goodbye although I knew he would continue to watch me until I was inside the apartment.
Once inside I noticed a note on the table from Jerri, letting me know that she’d gone out for groceries. She shouldn’t be too long. I felt somewhat better about the situation at hand. Even if the creep was now deciding to call me. But I didn’t have to answer so I could easily avoid that. And now with Victor keeping an eye out for me I knew this would be solved a lot quicker. I glanced at the clock and turned on the radio, I suppose I better make a start on some muffins.

BOOK EXCERPT: Slouchers: The Novelization
The following is an excerpt from Slouchers: The Novelization, a book based on the 1992 Gen-X movie by the same name.
It’s being re-published for the first time since 1992 and is available here, among other stores:
    Excerpt from
Slouchers: The Novelization
“Did you guys know R2D2 and C3PO were designed by the same inventor?” announces Cody. “But that he was bi-polar? So each robot represents a different emotional side to his personality?”
“Watched Jaws again last night,” says a voice from the pitched roof, changing the subject.
It is Wes.
Willow’s camera pans upwards, past the NO LOITERING SIGN. Wes likes to sit on roofs. Also, he is gay, which can only make Willow’s documentary that much more interesting—and current. Homosexuals have been in the news recently because they are “coming out of the closet,” which means they are announcing to their families they are “homosexuals.”
This has never before happened in the history of “homosexuality,” which most likely goes back years, if not decades.
“I believe that the entire premise of Jaws was based on the Kennedy assassination,” he finishes.
When Willow first met him, a week ago, Wes had already been on the roof for a month. He’s in it for the long haul!
“Here we go,” says Cody. He rolls his eyes in mock exasperation. He doesn’t have time for any of this.
Actually, he does.
All he has, really, is time.
The video store doesn’t open for another hour. It will then close one hour beyond that.
Cody likes to earn extra dough by participating in the bootleg cassette and video black market: celebrity sex tapes, illegal rock concert movies, and hours upon hours of hilarious bloopers from the recently released Silence of the Lambs, including a long scene in which the lotion is not properly placed in the basket.
Wes—up on the roof—also has nothing but time. He’s been kicked out of his home and he intends to stay up on the slanted roof until his parents, who just don’t understand, eventually visit him and profusely apologize.
Like all parents in movies, they do not understand “homosexuals.”
But Wes is a Gen X’er.   And Gen X’ers take matters into their own hands!
The term “Gen X” was coined in 1991 by writer and “Baby Boomer” Douglas Coupland.   “Baby Boomer” is another important sociological term, this one coined years ago by a writer from the “Greatest Generation.”   Before that, no generations—at least with any marketable names—ever existed.   That’s just the way it was.
And this is the way it is now …
“Okay,” says Wes, from the roof, encouraged. “So listen to this: the shark is Oswald, right? The first woman to be killed—the swimmer in the ocean— that would represent Kennedy, okay? The rest of the dead would be the soldiers in Vietnam, yeah?” Wes looks down at Willow. “Isn’t the memory card full? You’ve been shooting on your Fuji DS-100 digicam ten minutes already, right?”
“Not yet,” answers Willow. “Few more minutes! Show the entire universe what you’re made of!”
It’s interesting that the Kennedy assassination was just mentioned. One of Willow’s all-time cinematic influences—more so than even Truffaut, whom she has yet to see—is the herky-jerky camera movements from the Zapruder Film, so influential on MTV’s documentarian, vérité style: exciting, loose, impulsive.
Volatile.
Standing gingerly, and making sure his left foot is planted properly so as to not fall off the roof, Wes spreads his arms wide. “Welcome to our reality! We’ve just graduated from college. And we have no jobs. Or prospects! Fuck it! Down the up elevator!”
As if to prove his point, Wes opens his graduation robe wide and dips his head so that his mortar board can be seen. It’s badly stained with alcoholic drinks. Written in white electrical tape across it is “NOW! WHAT?!”
Beneath his robe, Wes wears a ripped T-shirt recently purchased from Old Navy. He would have ripped it himself, in all the right places, but he figured he’d just let the Chinese workers do it for him.
“We call it our maxi pad,” announces Topper to the world. “Our den of equality. Here, anybody is free to be a sloucher!”
“And proud of it,” Cody semi-screams.
Cody slumbers over to the pay phone. He’s holding a half-eaten slice of convenience store pizza and a stack of quarters. He places the receiver to his ear. He’s been on hold forever with KQMV, the grunge radio station. He wants them— no, needs them—to play “Smells Like Teen Spirit.”
It’s been fifteen minutes.
Fuck it.   On to something new.   He hangs up. Inserts quarters. He dials 1-900-DAY-DREA.
An operator answers. “1-900-DAYDREAM. How may I assist you to daydream today?”
“I need a daydream please,” says Cody.   He’d think of one himself but he’s too lazy.
“How old are you?”
“Twenty-three.”
“Interests?”
“Films. Pop culture. Sci-Fi. Um …”  He pauses. What else?  “Fantasy, I guess? Horror. That’s about it. Oh, equal rights for … everyone, I guess, too?”
The operator is silent. She’s thinking. What would a twenty-three year old with these particular interests daydream about?
“I think I have it,” she eventually says. “You’re a famous filmmaker. And you’re walking into the premiere of your new blockbuster. It’s all about monsters.”
“I daydreamed that the other day. Another operator gave it to me.”
“Hmmmm. Then let’s try this one. You’re attending a party with many beautiful women—do you like women?”
“Yes.”
“Okay. A bevvy of beautiful women are attending a party and you are invited. Maybe you had a crush on a few in high school. Typically in these sorts of social situations, you’re shy, you don’t say much. Not that you can’t. It’s just that you don’t want to. But you decide that this party will be different. You walk in confidently. All heads turn. You loudly announce that you have a few conspiracy theories about the movie The Shining. There’s a gasp. What a way to enter a party! The women are stunned! They’ve never seen or heard anything like this!”
“Oooh, that’s good,” says Cody. “Very good, yes! I like that!”
“Before long, the most beautiful women are in the bedroom, listening to all of your fascinating, original theories on The Shining.”
“Ooooh.”
“You have so many Stanley Kubrick theories, like how The Overlook’s distinctive, hexagonally-patterned carpeting depicts the chemical compound for the soon-to-be invented crack cocaine. The girls are blown away. They’re in heaven. You sit back on the bed, your arms behind your head, and you’re nodding, as if to say: Yeah. No big deal. I just knew you would dig my theories. Whatever!”
“Wow.”
“And that is your daydream for today.”
“Do I sleep with them?”
“I’m afraid you’ll have to insert another $1.25 in quarters to find out.”
Cody hangs up.
Harsh realm.
But cool. He can handle the rest of the daydream himself. He has enough to work with—barely, but enough. He takes a bite out of his pizza, a huge one. He places the slice back down on to the dirty, metallic surface within the phone booth. It’ll be safe until he returns in ten minutes. He blades over to the curb, mouth stuffed, and sinks down with a loud sigh. His energy for the day is sapped.
But he has some daydreaming to do …
“Hey, everyone!” says Topper, skateboarding past Cody, “how much realistically to run into the Convenience Mart right now, buck naked, and then eat a roller dog and then jet right back out? How much realistically would it take for you to do that? Seriously? Realistically?”
“Twenty,” says Jack Jack.
“Fifteen,” says Wes.
“I’d do it for nothin’,” says Royce, chewing languidly on a straw. “Fuck it. I’d do anything for free. I’m crazy like that!”
Royce smokes his Camels “straight.” Kicked out of the Army after forcing the citizens of Baghdad to memorize at gunpoint the lyrics to R.E.M.’s “Everybody Hurts”, he’s back in Seattle and living it up in the parking lot. Royce is the badass of the bunch, the one with the streetwise panache. The one who wears the Army fatigues and a hospital bracelet that’s never been explained but is now fraying. The bracelet is tie-dyed.
Sipping on a 40, Royce has just returned from yet another visit to the plasma bank. His purpose this time was to pay for all the personal lubrication at the Convenience Mart that will assist him in making a deposit at the sperm bank so that he can earn enough money for all the Ring Dings and tall cans of 40 he so desperately craves at the Convenience Mart.
It’s the perfect hustle.
“Then why don’t you?”  Royce shrugs. He adjusts his camouflage Army jacket. He fiddles with his plastic hospital bracelet.
“Juss don’t feel like it, is all,” he says. “Fuck it. Fuck everything!”  “Hey, guys,” asks Topper. “Can I ask you a personal question?”
“Sure,” says Wes from the roof.
“So when you’re sitting in a pool and you feel something that ain’t cool, does it have to be diarrhea?”
Wes laughs. He’s heard this before. And yet it never grows tiresome.
Willow turns off her digital video cam by hitting the large, red STOP button.
“You guys,” announces Willow. “Incredible! Amazing! MTV will love this! You guys are the best! Just acting like yourselves, you’re stars! The world will soon know you all!”
“When’s the contest deadline?” asks Wes, sitting back down on the roof’s slope, making room for his graduation robe to bloom out like a red cloud within a heroin syringe. “When do you have to mail this in?”
Leave it to the homosexual character to be overly concerned about logistics!
“One week from today,” answers Willow. “At exactly this time. They’ll pick a winner, live on the air, for their Grunge Voice of a Generation! I’m going to be cutting it close! But I must get this right, I just have to! There are no second chances!”
“And then you’ll be MTV’s first Grunge Veejay!” says Topper, skateboarding past, sipping on a mug of locally crafted Hefferveisen brew, the latest hops “craze.”
There are so many breweries in this Northwest city that you can practically smell yeast in the air!
Willow prays it’s yeast.
“And we can all move into your mansion. And do nothing all day, every day,” exclaims Topper.
“Do?” asks Jack Jack. “More like yabba-dabba-don’t!”
“I thought you wanted to be the first skateboarder to perform a 360-inward-double-heel flip in slow motion on a Doritos TV ad,” says Wes.
Topper’s face flushes. That is, indeed, his dream. But when someone else says it, it just sounds too insurmountable for anyone to actually achieve …
“Maybe,” he mumbles. “I don’t know. You know, maybe.”
“I don’t want to be MTV’s first grunge veejay,” says Willow. “I want to be a filmmaker. I want to capture my generation on expensive VHS tape.”
“But can we still move into your mansion? And do nothing all day, every day?” asks Topper. “When you get famous?”
“We do that anyway,” says Wes from above. “All day, every day. Nothing.”
“Right. But we can then do it inside,” says Topper. “And not outside. Where it rains.”
“Rain is nothing but a conceit,” announces Wes.
“Of what?”
“Of reality,” says Wes. “We’re living within a giant computer.”
“Like Tron?” asks Topper, reaching for another nacho and dipping it into a cardboard container of liquid cheese. “Greed is good. Nachos are better.”
“Can you imagine?” asks Topper. “We’re nothing more than images and pictures inside a huge Tandy TRS-80 in the sky?”
“Can’t even,” says Cody, although it’s hard to tell if he’s being sarcastic.  It’s his second language.
“Being programmed by a Radio Shack employee to do anything the guy wants,” says Topper.
“So you’re saying that if my programmer wants me to spit, then he would just have me spit?” asks Jack Jack.
He spits.
“Yes.”
“But what if my programmer does not want me to spit and yet I want to spit?”
Jack Jack goes to spit but stops himself at the last moment.
“Then he never wanted you to spit,” says Cody. “He didn’t want you to spit from the beginning.”
Jack Jack spits.
“I guess he did want you to spit. So he just had you do it.”
Jack Jack spits. “Wanted you to spit.”
Jack Jack goes to spit, stops himself.
“Didn’t want you to spit.”
“So what you’re saying,” says Jack Jack, “is that I have zero sovereignty over my own destiny?”
“You vill obey the programmer’s wishes or zelse!” says Wes, from the roof, in the hilarious voice of Sergeant Schultz from Hogan’s Heroes.
“All this with an 8-bit Radio Shack computer,” says Topper. “Imagine the possibilities with a 16-bit!”
“But if we all are truly and really programmed,” says Spooner to Wes, “would this mean you were programmed to be gay?”
“Wouldn’t want it any other way,” says Wes, now in his own voice.
“I’m a Pepper, he’s a Pepper, she’s a Pepper, wouldn’t you like to be a Pepper, too?” sings Spooner, mimicking the 1970s Dr. Pepper commercial he sings whenever something even halfway earnest is said in conversation.
The Greatest Generation had their earnestness.
The Gen X’ers have something far better: studied insouciance.
Something that actually matters.
“You might be a Pepper but crass materialism will get you nowhere,” declares Cody, sipping from a plastic bottle of OK Cola. He is obsessed with this drink, as are all twenty-somethings.
The Greatest Generation had their World War II.
The Gen X’ers have something far better: the Cola Wars.
“Time to hit the grindstone,” declares Willow, as she clips the digicam onto a belt-loop of her factory-aged work jeans, just next to her large pink beeper. “Can’t just chat all day!”
“You’ll know where to find us,” Wes announces from behind her, still on the roof. “Out here, in our little slice of paved heaven.”
Cody is at the curb. He’s done with his daydream.
He didn’t end up sleeping with any of the beautiful women after talking about conspiracy theories from The Shining but he did manage to receive oral pleasure.
So, really, the daydream could have been a hell of a lot worse.
“Yeah, ain’t going nowhere,” agrees Topper, still on top of the overturned trash can. “Because there ain’t nowhere to go.”
“Turtle and the hare,” says Jack Jack. “Turtle and the hare.”
“Prozac and the booze,” says Wes. “Prozac and the booze.”
“Echoing that,” says Cody, mouth full of cheap ’za, some of which falls to the concrete below. “Man, remember when twenty-two felt old?! Now it don’t feel like nothin’!”
“Rimbaud did he best work before twenty,” says Spooner. “Maybe we’re doomed.”
He lazily scratches at his club hand-stamp. It is in the shape of Bart Simpson wearing unlaced combat boots. Cody is infamous for being too cool to chew; and when he’s truly feeling the grunge spirit—too lazy to even breathe—he’ll wear a working sleep apnea mask fashioned for the daytime. The mask is flanneled.
“It’s the nineties,” Jack Jack says, as way of explanation. “It’s the motherfuckin’ nineties.”
“See ya soon, boys,” says Willow, leaving the parking lot and this amazing conversation behind.
She enters a record store …

Quote
You will find on this page a collection of life changing quotes, "Nuggets of Wisdom", that have caught my attention and have been a source of great inspiration and blessing in my walk of faith. I believe your spirit will bear witness to the truth they convey and you will be blessed as well. Continue to check back often, as I am continually adding inspirational quotes as I come across them in my studies. Remember, one word from God can change your life forever! The whole dispensation of the Spirit, the whole economy of grace in Christ Jesus, the whole of our spiritual lives, and the whole of the health, growth, and strength of the church has been laid down, provided for, and secured in the New Covenant. - Andrew Murray Build your character. Learn to forgive, to be diligent, to be honest. Learn to stay steady and faithful, to keep commitments, to go by what you know and not necessarily by what you feel. - Wayne Cordeiro To have God speak to the heart is a majestic experience, an experience that people may miss if they monopolize the conversation and never pause to hear God's responses. - Charles Stanley Each time, before you intercede, be quiet first, and worship God in His glory. Think of what He can do, and how He delights to hear the prayers of His redeemed people. Think of your place and privilege in Christ, and expect great things! - Andrew Murray If you have worry, you don't have faith, and if you have faith, you don't have worry. - Jack Coe When someone gets healed, the Kingdom of God is revealed, for His Kingdom is a Kingdom or wholeness, of well being, and of life. - Billy Joe Daugherty Christians need never be sick, any more than they need to be sinful. It is always God's desire to heal you. - T. L. Osborn In becoming part of the Body of Christ, sickness should have no more mastery over us than it had over the Body of Christ when He was on the earth. - Gordon Lindsay When unbelief kept Christ from healing the sick on earth, it will surely do so today. - Dr. T. J. McCrossan Be intentional to add value to every person you meet everyday. - John Maxwell You get faith by studying the Word. Study that Word until something in you "knows that you know" and that you do not just hope that you know. - Carrie Judd Montgomery Faith is the spark that ignites the impossible and causes it to become possible. When a person's faith is activated, it sets in motion supernatural power that enables that person to do what he normally would never be able to do! - Rick Renner There is no sickness problem. There is simply a problem of the believer's coming to know his inheritance in Christ. - E. W. Kenyon Tradition is the thief of power. There is no area of our lives where that theft is more evident than in the area of divine healing. - Rod Parsley Never doubt in the dark what God has shown you in the light. - Edith Edman Character is the ability to follow through on a worthy decision long after the emotion of making that decision has passed. - Wayne Cordeiro Just believe what God says that Jesus has done for you, body, soul, and spirit - think about it, talk about it, sing about it, shout about it, and the praise cure has begun. - Lillian B. Yeomans There has never been a miracle drug that could equal the Word of God. God's medicine is the answer to every need. - Gloria Copeland Endeavor always to remember that you are in the immediate presence of God, and strive to act as you would if you saw the Savior standing by your side. - Raymond T. Richey The anointing of the Holy Spirit is given to illuminate His Word, to open the Scriptures, and to place the spiritual man in direct communication with the mind of God. - Charles F. Parham The power of God will take you out of your own plans and put you into the plan of God. - Smith Wigglesworth Faith is not something you have to get. It's something that you, as a born-again child of God, already have. Act on it by releasing it to God. That's when your healing starts! - Oral Roberts Just as one gets the first fruits of spiritual salvation in the life that now is, so we get the first fruits of our physical salvation in the life that now is." - Dr. R.A. Torrey Christ within us can accomplish what we can never hope to do in our own strength; and that continuous walking with Him will change the weakest of us into His image. - Donald Gee Both sin and sickness came into the world through the fall of the human race. Therefore, we must look for the healing of both in the savior of the human race. God is as willing to heal believer's as He is to forgive unbeliever's. S. Lewis Your life is only as productive as the freshness of your walk with God. - Randy Shankle Miracles begin within us and then affect our surroundings. - Reinhard Bonnke What you do with your eyes in some cases is a matter of life and death. To look at [focus on] the sickness brings death. To look at [focus on] God's Word brings life. - Gloria Copeland The Blood of Jesus washes away our past and the Name of Jesus opens up our future. - Jesse Duplantis Faith can only operate where the will of God is known. - Keith Butler Fear of the devil is nonsense. Fear of demons is foolish. The Spirit of God anointing the Christian heart makes the soul impregnable to the powers of darkness. - John G. Lake Do what you can, with what you have and do it now! - George Washington Carver Doctors may have told you there is no hope for you medically, but you can always find supernatural HOPE from God's Word. - Charles Capps If you've got just a little bit of faith as a grain of mustard seed, and begin to praise God - that faith will mount up, until fear won't be able to stay in your heart. - Jack Coe When you come in contact with the anointing of God, it not only affects your moment, it affects your tomorrow. - Creflo Dollar You must flow with the will of God, in the service of God, to obtain the power of God. - Benny Hinn We are either in the process of resisting God's truth or in the process of being shaped and molded by his truth. - Charles Stanley Whatever God's Word says I am - that's what I am! Whatever His Word says He will do - He will do! - Kenneth Copeland We are presumptuous not when we marvel at His grace, but when we reject it.- Max Lucado Desire toward God and you will have desires from God and He will meet you on the line of those desires when you reach out in simple faith. - Smith Wigglesworth When we have learned the process of faith for receiving healing, we have learned how to receive everything else God promises us in His Word. - F. F. Bosworth

In the Smoke pt. 14 (Cobblebats)
From Bruce’s POV
THE STACKED DECK
“Mayor Hill has just been confirmed dead,” the news announced, “after succumbing to the numerous injuries he received during a lethal assault at the debate. Reports suggest that Bruce Wayne is responsible for the damage done, and we--”
The sound was suddenly muted, and I could see Oz staring at me from out of the corner of my eye, remote in hand.
“They talk ‘bout his death like it’s a bad thing,” Oz scoffed, taking a sip from his drink. “You did Gotham a favor, Bruce. My only regret is that I didn’t help you. Don’t listen to the media.”
I felt myself slightly scowling. “I just murdered a man, Oz.”
“No, no,” he corrected, holding a finger up. “What you did weren’t murder. It was vengeance.”
Oz leaned back in his seat, smiling to himself as he gazed at the ceiling in a tranquil-like manner. “Seriously, though. Thank you, Bruce. Hill might not’ve died the way I imagined he would, but at least both of our mums can rest in peace now. That pig got exactly what he deserved.”
Even with all the compliments, I still wasn’t able to feel the same pride Oz experienced, and stayed silent in response, surrounding my glass with both my hands.
“What’s wrong, Bruce?” Oz asked, noticing my uncertainty.
I looked at him from under my hood, biting my lip. “I just--” I let out a worried breath, “what if the drug acts up again? Sure, it was useful against Hill, but what if the same thing happens again with someone who doesn’t deserve to be hurt? What if I accidentally attack you?”
Oz didn’t seem to be as concerned. “Trust me, I’ll be fine.”
I sighed. “My point...is that the drug doesn’t care who it harms. And I can’t control it once it takes the wheel. It’s like someone else is piloting my body--like a puppet.”
Finishing his drink, Oz gave me a reassuring look. “Lady Arkham designed the drug so that it only takes effect whenever the host is provoked, or angered. As long as you can keep calm ‘round those you don’t wanna hurt--which shouldn’t be too hard--then you should be all right. And besides, you weren’t even drugged with that much. Harvey received at least twice your dosage, and he’s still on his feet.”
I stared at the floor, thinking about what happened back at City Hall. “Yeah, about Harvey...” I brought my voice to a whisper, “I think he’s losing it, Oz. I went to visit him earlier today, and things were okay at first, but about halfway through, he just...snapped.”
That hooked Oz’s interest. “How do you mean?”
“Extreme paranoia, switching his personality entirely, talking to himself as if there were another person around...it was hectic.”
He chuckled. “Huh. Sounds like he really lives up to his nickname.”
I shot him a puzzled look. “What? What nickname?”
“Dunno if you’ve heard, but some people are startin’ to call him Two-Face. Pretty self-explanatory.”
I glared at Oz, causing him to put both hands up in defense. “Hey, I didn’t come up with it.”
Before we could talk more though, we saw the barmaid hurrying up to us out of nowhere with nervousness plastered on her face, constantly glancing behind her shoulder as if someone were watching.
“Oz,” she said in an alarmed tone, “it’s the GCPD. I just got word that they’re coming here to arrest you and your friend. It’s about Hill’s death. You’d better get going.”
Oz and I exchanged looks, both of us completely forgetting about the drinks.
“What about you?” He asked. The barmaid waved a dismissive hand.
“I’ll cover for you. And I’ll make sure none of the other customers say nothin’ either.”
Oz stood up from the booth, gesturing for me to follow. “Thanks, sweetheart. I owe you.” He turned to me. “C’mon, Br--” he stopped himself mid-sentence, quickly finding a replacement, “--buddy. Let’s bail. I don’t feel like sleeping behind bars tonight.”
Bolting into a secluded alleyway, Oz and I could already hear police sirens screaming in the distance, their red and blue lights flashing on the brick walls as we delved deeper into the shadows.
Fortunately for us, the heavy rain made it harder for the police to detect our frantic footsteps, and while we hid in the darkness, I could see police officers scurrying all over the place--including Gordon--in search for their targets.
“You think someone found out you were with us?” Oz wondered quietly. I almost had to strain my ears to hear him over the rain.
“Probably. Why else would they be here?”
“I dunno, but it’s pretty pointless for me to be with you right now. Even if they don’t manage to arrest us, just seeing us together will give ‘em proof you’re working with me.”
“Are you suggesting we split up? Have you never seen a horror film?”
“Tonight will become one if the GCPD catches us.”
I sighed. “All right, all right. You go hide somewhere else. I’ll keep an eye on the police here.”
“Sounds good. Let me know if you need help with anythin’.”
And with that, Oz jogged off to a different part of the alleyway, leaving me to fend for myself. It didn’t take long for the adrenaline in my body to kick in, and before I knew it, I could feel the drug’s effects taking action again.
Not now, I told myself. Not fucking now!
But it was no use. Just like at the debate, my vision started to cloud up with a green haze, and my heart felt like it was about to burst out of my chest. The same voice that kept urging me to beat Hill came back, and I started to squirm in pain.
Rolling up one of my sleeves, I could see the blue veins enhancing in my arm, crawling their way through the skin like the branches on a tree. By this point, I no longer cared about staying hidden, and I paid no mind to the flashlight beams that were now centering in on me.
“I found someone!” The officer called out, aiming his gun at me. “Freeze!” He ordered. I didn’t comply. Instead, I only approached him, fearlessly sauntering towards him despite all my efforts to resist the drug.
“I said freeze!” He repeated. Still, I ignored him and continued to walk until suddenly, as if time itself had slowed down, I found myself grabbing him by the neck and lifting him into the air with an abnormal amount of strength as the policeman started clawing at my hand.
Stop! I yelled at myself. But I wasn’t listening.
Tightening my grip immensely, I slammed his head against a nearby wall, and did it again, and again, and again, blood starting to stain the bricks with every hit. The policeman fell into unconsciousness not too much later, and I wasn’t even sure if he was alive, but I still kept on going, furiously bashing him into the wall’s surface.
Suddenly however, a sharp pain pierced into my back, causing me to drop the policeman before collapsing to the ground in agony, the wet street soaking my clothes. In the darkness surrounding me, I spotted an ominous pair of white eyes glaring at me through the rain, revealing none other than Batman himself.
“...Dad.” I groaned through gritted teeth, still under the drug’s influence. He knelt beside me.
“Good god,” I heard him murmur, staring at the police officer I just attacked. “We need to get you home, Bruce.”
He reached out a helping hand, but I brushed it aside. “I’m not...going...anywhere...with you...”
Ignoring me, Batman took me into his arms and hauled me over his shoulder, securely holding me as he activated his earpiece.
“Alfred, I found Bruce. I’m on my way home now. Let me know if the GCPD ever gets too close.”
“Well done, sir. You’ll be the first to know. I shall await for your return.”
“Thanks, Al--”
Out of nowhere, a gunshot erupted throughout the alleyway and, in the midst of all the commotion, I found myself falling to the ground once again. Not too far away from me, Batman was clutching his arm as blood streamed down the limb, and across from him, I could see Oz lurking towards us, smoking pistol in hand.
“Batman!” He exclaimed cheerfully, though not sincerely. “Here to save the day as always, I see.” He prepared another bullet. “Unfortunately, I’m afraid your ‘help’ isn’t needed here.”
“Oswald. Cobblepot.” Batman said, grimacing. “What is it about this city that attracts criminal scum like you?”
Oz chuckled at that. “Gotta admit--you’ve got flair! Though, I’m gonna have to ask you to step away from Wayne junior here.”
“What do you want with him?” Batman questioned, looking at me.
“Well, you see, my old mate and I have some catching up to do,” he raised the gun at him. “And you’re kinda ruining the moment.”
“...wait...” I weakly held an arm out, attempting to stop the two of them, but no one acknowledged me. Batman got into a defensive stance.
“Over my dead body.” He growled, standing protectively in front of me.
Oz grinned, cocking the gun as he continued to stroll through the pouring rain.
“That can be arranged.”

The Rainbow Investigation: Chapter 1, Part 1
Tumblr media
Sunday, March 11th, 1:54 p.m.
Isaac
Man, I’m running late for the meeting with the chief again.
Putting on my sunglasses and turning on my car engine, I bust a wide grin as I hear the engine roar
while I slightly put my foot on the gas. Yes, I do have a nice car. Runs smooth, rides smooth, just like me. Man, I’m just a smooth guy.
Pulling out of my driveway, I head outside my neighborhood to the highway, letting the roof down in my car to see my beautiful face and my newly twisted dreads.
I used to not be this blessed. I had long ways to go. Going through law school, being broke, training
with the police. But now everything’s working for the good. I got the job I want, the car, the looks, and I cannot forget to mention the women that comes with these perks. I just had a date last night with a chick at the bar, and man, I would be lying if I said she didn’t just throw herself at me.
Before heading onto the expressway I stop at the red light, turning my head slightly to the left to see a woman putting on lipstick in her car mirror. I give a honk, making her jump and turn her head to see me.
I give her a smile, showing my white teeth, making her blush. She drops her lipstick while I motion her to roll her window down.
“What’s your name babygirl?” I ask her whenever her window rolls down.
“Casey,” she smiles.
“Man, if you don’t mind me telling you, you look absolutely stunning with that lipstick. Red’s my favorite color.”
Casey turns red, covering her mouth to hide the wide smile I gave her. I asked her for her number and she gave it to me while the light was green.
Cars were honking behind us but I waved them off. I wouldn’t get in trouble with no authority, I am the authority.
I take off my sunglasses and give Casey a wink before driving off. I forgot I had to talk with chief today already.
The best thing about my job, besides the check, is that it’s simple. Sure I have to interview a murderer here and an armed robber there, but nobody knows how to stop a criminal as good as I can. I got the juice for anything that is thrown at me. The rest is looking over criminal records, evidence, and filing papers, which is already a breeze thanks for my many years of experience.
Turning the radio on and tuning in a station, I stop my hand at the local news station by the owner of the station, Ray Ray.
“Looks like we got another funeral this week guys, the Rainbow Head just took the life of a teenage boy and girl last night. Hey, the kids were just trying to have some fun, but ended up not coming back home after a night of the movie theater, which is what their friends told the police before they found them dead-”
I changed the station to the hip hop station. Man, I don’t want to hear that right now, knowing I have to hear the same thing at the office for the next shift.
I take off my sunglasses whenever I reach the police department. Sighing, I cut off my car engine, patting the dashboard. Another good ride from my Jaguar Jack.
I get out of the car and walk into the police department with confidence, fixing my collar, running a quick hand through my hair, and clearing my throat.
“Good morning Isaac,” the secretary at the desk grins at me.
“Good morning to you gorgeous,” I reply, receiving my mail from my work mailbox.
While I check my mail, I head to the break room, passing by the coffee machine the officers fight over on the daily to head to the water dispenser. Coffee makes your teeth yellow, and I can’t afford my white teeth to stain like that.
I grab a cup from the table and turn back to the water before I feel a hand squeeze my ass.
“Whoa!” I holler, turning to see Mrs. Officer Bentley glaring at me as she bites her lip.
“How are you doing today Isaac?” She purrs, putting a hand on my chest.
“I’m doing good, you?” I say.
“Fantastic,” Mrs. Bentley replies. “How about we look at some files in the copy room? All of the officers are on duty at the Rainbow Head’s new investigation by the movies.”
Man, sounds great but… “I gotta go talk to Oswald right now, and she sounds pretty pissed off,” I
mention to Mrs. Bentley, who just started rubbing on my chest.
“She’ll be alright.”
“I’m already late.”
“Then end it with a bang,” Mrs. Bentley whispers, dragging her hands to my belt buckle.
Just to get this out of the way, I know that her prefix is not a miss. But also knowing that this has been going on and off for a long period of time, and that I know her husband who I am really good friends with and knows what is not going on makes my situation okay.
“Come on, you know I’m trying not to-” I begin before Mrs. Bentley pulls out her handcuffs from her belt and cuffs them around my wrists.
“You’re under arrest, for being fine as hell,” she murmurs in my ear, “and for disobeying a police officer.”
Maybe I can spare a few minutes or twenty.
“You didn’t read me my Miranda Rights,” I smirk, making Mrs. Bentley tighten the cuffs around my arms and dragging me to the copy downstairs.
<><>
“Sorry I’m late I was-”
“Stuck in traffic like always?” Ms. Oswald snaps making air quotes with her middle and index finger.
“How did you know?” I show off my smile. “You know that red light where you go straight then hit that exit to the expressway? It always feel like an eternity sitting there.”
“Have a seat Mr. Newport.”
“You know you can just call me Isaac.”
“Please, just sit down.”
Shrugging, I take a seat in front of Ms. Oswald’s desk, as she sighs whenever she pulls out her files.
“So boss, what’s up?” I ask.
“I am at my end with you Mr. Newport,” she begins.
“At your end?”
“You have not been doing your job, Mr. Newport.”
“Oh come on man, who told you that lie?”
“It’s obviously not a lie. You been inefficient with all of your evaluations with the police reports, the evidence, everything.”
“Everything?” I question as I begin to raise my voice.
“Where are your reports on the last case? You gave nobody an update on the last armed robbery, shootout, or fraud cases. And this is the second time that you were late to a meeting,” Ms. Oswald explains. “Are you messing around with Officer Bentley again? I’m going to have to suspend her-”
“Wait a minute now, hold on,” I raise up from my seat. “I think you’re just a little uptight with everything. I promise I’ve been doing my job. The only reason why there are no reports is because I handled all of it myself. I’m the one special agent that can do that.”
“Really?” Ms. Oswald says, getting out of her seat as well, making her way to the file cabinet.
“Of course, you know I’m all game,” I reply to her. Walking up behind her and grabbing her shoulders, my fingers sliding into the collar of her shirt and blazer. “Nothing but net baby.”
Ms. Oswald blushes while I press my fingers into her shoulder, I lean in and nuzzle on her neck. “Mr. Newport?”
“It’s Isaac.”
“You know you forgot something about me didn’t you?” Ms. Oswald smiles.

In the Smoke pt. 3 (Cobblebats)
From Bruce’s POV
PRESENT DAY
I stood in the middle of Crime Alley, examining a bronze plaque on the ground that had my mother’s name engraved on it as rain poured down from the pale, early-morning sky, the sounds of the city slowly starting to wake up.
Today was the anniversary of my mother’s death, and normally I would’ve waited to visit her with Dad, as I usually did, but something in me just couldn’t sit still any longer. Even though twenty years had already passed ever since her murder, every single detail from that night remained well and alive in my mind, as fresh as the moment it happened, and countless nightmares still plagued my dreams.
I slid a hand down my face, wiping some of the rain away from my eyes as I went to lean against a brick wall. The more time I spent in Crime Alley, the more I continued to replay my mother’s final words, “Tell Hill he’s making a mistake.” What did they mean? What did Hill have to do with any of this?
As a child, I truly thought I would’ve had the answers to everything by now, but in reality, I only had more questions. Hill was involved with my mother’s death somehow--I knew that much--and he was also involved with something that concerned the Cobblepots. I just didn’t know what.
And actually, I never learned exactly what happened to them. But not too long after my mother was killed, Esther was suddenly declared criminally insane and committed to Arkham Asylum before her eventual death, which led to her husband’s suicide, leaving Oz all alone and orphaned.
I sighed to myself in sorrow, solemnly gazing at the towering movie theater in the distance. Oz and I never got to see that movie like we planned, or do anything else for that matter. Instead, both of our families were torn apart within the span of a few weeks, and before I knew it, Oz had disappeared from the face of Gotham without any warning. It was like the entire city just...forgot...about him. No one at our school seemed to care about his absence, and my father never mentioned a word about him. You’d think he never existed.
I remembered hearing rumors and whispers that he had been shipped off to England after his parents’ deaths, but I had yet to find anything to confirm that. We lost touch ever since he left, and neither of us were able to contact the other while he was gone. I wondered if he still remembered me, after all these years. Hell, I didn’t even know if he was still alive anymore. By now, my brain was just a never-ending list of questions that continued to lengthen with every day, and I was determined to learn as much as I could.
“There you are.”
Snapping out of my trance-like state and back to reality, I realized that I wasn’t alone. Shielding himself from the rain with a black umbrella, Harvey Dent stood not too far away from me, beaming and optimistic as always.
“Harv?” I greeted, pleasantly surprised. “How did you find me?”
“W-well, when I checked the manor and Alfred said you weren’t there, there was only one other place I could think of to look for you.” Harvey cleared his throat and glanced at my mother’s plaque, his head lowering in sympathy. “If you, erm, need to be alone right now, I completely understand.”
“No,” I quickly replied, “it’s all right. I could use some company, actually.”
“Oh,” Harvey smiled, “well, in that case...” He stepped over to my side and placed the umbrella above my head.
“Such a gentleman.” I complimented.
He chuckled lightly. “I do my best.”
Sitting in the heavy rain, the two of us enjoyed the rare solitude, savoring this short moment of peace before we would have to return to our dull, everyday lives. Glancing over at the other, much taller man, I couldn’t help but notice the very faint, pink tint that had covered Harvey’s cheeks and how he hid his face from me, bashful as ever.
It was so painfully obvious that Harvey secretly held romantic feelings for me, and everything about him always became so awkward whenever we were together. As sweet as it was though, I was powerless to return the affection. Harvey was the candidate running against Hill for the position of mayor this year, and considering that Hill was counting on my family for support, that already made it hard enough to spend time with Harvey. Not to mention starting something intimate between us.
“You don’t need to stay out here with me, Harv,” I said. “I totally get it if you don’t wanna stand in the freezing, cold rain in some random alleyway. Hell, I don’t even know why I came out here.”
“You don’t need to worry about me,” he insisted. “I, um--I enjoy...spending time with you. A little rain isn’t going to scare me off.” A nervous laugh. “And besides, this isn’t just any ordinary alleyway. It’s...well...you know. I...just figured you might need a friend. If you don’t though, just say so, and I’ll be gone.”
I let out a stressful breath, adjusting my stance a bit. “No, it’s fine. I just...I can’t help thinking about why my mother really died.”
“What do you mean?”
I double-checked both entrances to the alleyway, lowering my voice as I leaned in to whisper something. “I trust you, Harvey, so I’ll tell you--but this stays between us. Okay?”
He gave me a firm nod. “I understand.”
“Thanks, Harv. Now, listen. Before my mother was killed, she told the murderer, ‘tell Hill he’s making a mistake,’ and she also seemed to recognize the culprit. I still don’t know what that means to this day, but it’s enough to tell me that Hill was involved in her murder somehow.”
A look of shock covered his face. “Bruce, that’s--that’s horrible. Have you told anyone else about this?”
“Besides the GCPD and my own father--both of which didn’t believe me, by the way--no. To be honest, I’m starting to get the feeling that they know the truth--they just aren’t willing to spill it. But that doesn’t matter. I know Hill’s hiding something, and I’m going to find out why my mother died, with or without their help. It’s the least I can do for her, after everything she did for me.”
“I’ll assist you as much as I can, Bruce, but for the moment, I’m afraid it won’t be a lot. With that big debate against Hill coming up soon, the press would be up both our asses if someone found out we were trying to get dirt on him.”
“Yeah, about that,” I frowned. “I’m sorry I can’t support you, Harv. I really wish I could fund you somehow, but my father’s got eyes and ears everywhere.”
“Well, even if I can’t earn your financial support, it’s still good to know whom your actual support really lies with. I’ll do my best not to let you down.”
“You’ll do great, Harv,” I encouraged him. “You were born for this.” He gave me a shy, but thankful smile.
Just then, my phone vibrated. Quickly slipping it out of my pocket, I glanced at the text message.
Alfred: Bruce, a rather peculiar letter just arrived in the mail for you. Normally, I would wait until you returned home to show it to you, but I thought you might want to hear about this one as soon as possible.
“Sorry,” I apologized to Harvey, “it’s Al. Mind if I take care of this?”
He shook his head. “Go right ahead.”
“Thanks.” I typed back a reply.
Bruce: What’s it say?
Alfred: Not much, actually. It’s quite simple, really. Just a small, blank card. It reads, “Meet me at the Park. 6 AM. Tomorrow! -Oz”
I froze.
Oz?
Bruce: Wait, Oz as in Oswald Cobblepot?
Alfred: That’s what I was thinking as well. It seems as if your old friend has finally returned to Gotham. What do you think? Is it legitimate?
Bruce: Hard to say. It’s been so long since we last talked, and the “6 AM” makes it even more suspicious. Oz would never get up that early.
Alfred: A fair point. Though, it’s possible he might make an exception to see a familiar face.
Bruce: I guess so. Oh, well. We can talk about this later. I’ll be home in a minute.
Alfred: Very well, sir. I shall see you then.
I put the phone away, receiving a curious look from Harvey. “Everything all right?” He asked, noticing my concern.
“...I think so,” I replied uncertainly. “I don’t know. It seems like nothing, but I guess I’ll find out soon enough. Anyways, I gotta get going. Thanks for sticking around, Harv.”
He was blushing again. “Of course, Bruce. Anytime. Stay safe out there.”
I began walking away from the comfort of the umbrella, stepping back out into the thick rainfall as I waved a casual goodbye to the District Attorney. “You too. If only that were possible in Gotham.”
WAYNE MANOR
I returned back home after a short walk, instantly speeding for my bedroom for a change of comfier, dryer clothes, and possibly even a quick nap. Along the way, I spotted Alfred occupied in the kitchen, washing the dishes from a breakfast that I missed, and judging by the extra cars sitting outside, both Hill and Falcone were also here right now. I silently groaned. If I was lucky, I’d be able to avoid both of them.
Climbing up the grand staircase, I turned a corner as soon as I reached the top and passed right by my father’s office, stopping in my tracks when I overheard a portion of their suspicious conversation. Normally, I wouldn’t have considered eavesdropping, but something just reeled me in like a fish on a hook. I stealthily crept closer to the locked door, trying to hear more.
“--I’m not afraid of Penguin,” Hill said in a defending tone. “Common criminals like him are quite easy to outsmart. I’m just playing along with his plan, is all.”
Penguin? What the hell was he talking about?
“Oh, is that why you fed him information on my family?” My father fired back, “We’re supposed to be working together, in case you forgot.” Falcone joined in.
“Relax, Tommy. We’ll be fine. Penguin’s weak. Don’t get me wrong, that doesn’t make what Ham here did any less stupid, but he’s still just a lone thug. Nothing big or extravagant like the other crime-bosses in Gotham. We can handle him.”
My father wasn’t convinced. “It only took a ‘lone thug’ to murder my wife. Who’s to say that this ‘Penguin’ fellow won’t come after my son too?”
“Why would he?” Hill added. “Bruce doesn’t know anything. He’s clueless about all...this. He’d be useless to Penguin.”
“That...is true, I suppose.”
Part of me regretted listening in on their conversation. What on Earth were they talking about? And who was the Penguin? What wasn’t my father telling me? Well, at least now I could be certain that Hill was hiding something from me, just as I suspected. But so was Falcone and even my own father.
I heard their chairs shuffling as their footsteps approached the door. Springing into flight mode, I instantly bolted away from the office, trying to make myself scarce before they could even twist the doorknob.
Originally, I had planned to discuss the mysterious letter that Alfred mentioned earlier with my father, and ask him what his thoughts were on it, but now I wasn’t even sure if I could trust him. I was just going to have to find the pieces to this puzzle by myself, whether he liked it or not. After all, if this really was Oz asking me to meet him, then he would have all the answers about Hill that I needed...and I could finally learn the truth.

Know this, if He was merciful enough to forgive you when you were unconverted, He is merciful enough to heal you now that you are in His family! - T. L. Osborn Heaven is full of answers to prayers for which no one ever bothered to ask - Billy Graham Keep your foot on the devil's neck by standing on the Word of God, and you will see tremendous results! - Jesse Duplantis Grace is not the freedom to sin; it is the power to live a holy life. - Joyce Meyer Fear cannot stay in the same house with Jesus Christ. - Jack Coe Shut the world out, withdraw from all worldly thoughts and occupations, and shut yourself in alone with God, to pray to Him in secret. Let this be your chief object in prayer, to realize the presence of your heavenly Father. - Andrew Murray God is the God of the people who are at their wits end, who are right up against it with their backs to the wall, and He delights to come to our help when we need Him most. - James Salter When I saw for the first time by the Word of God that sickness was not the Will of God, everything in my nature rose up to defeat the will of the devil. - John G. Lake The assurance of every truth of Scripture is just the beauty of it. First because He has promised to do it; and God's promises are bonds that never yet were dishonored. Secondly, because Christ Jesus hath taken an oath that He will do it. - C. H. Spurgeon Is there any reason why you should not have faith in God? Has God ever broken one of His promises? I defy any infidel or unbeliever to place a finger on a single promise of God ever made and failed to fulfill. - D. L. Moody Never underestimate Jesus, because He will just prove you wrong. - Brian Gurney Be assured, if you walk with Him and look to Him, and expect help from Him, He will never fail you. - George Mueller The devil is busy trying to take from us what we take from God, and so God bids us to hold fast. - C. Nuzum Faith is acting in the face of contrary evidence. The senses declare, "It cannot be," but Faith shouts above the turmoil, "It is!" - E. W. Kenyon Loss of communion is the explanation of most of our failure in spiritual fruit bearing. - Donald Gee At Calvary, there was a great healing transfer where the responsibility for healing was switched from God giving it, to you receiving it. - Rod Parsley Believe you receive in the faith realm, and you shall have it in the natural realm. - John Osteen Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow; it empties today of its strength. - Corrie Ten Boom  Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God. - Corrie Ten Boom God is still forgiving sins, and He is still healing diseases, or else He is not the same God He used to be. - Dr. T. J. McCrossan Faith looks beyond the walls of the obstacle and on to the answer. - Benny Hinn Beware in your prayers, above everything else, of limiting God, not only by unbelief, but by fancying that you know what He can do. Expect unexpected things 'above all that we ask or think. - Andrew Murray The remarkable thing about fearing God is that when you fear God you fear nothing else, whereas if you do not fear God you fear everything else. - Oswald Chambers When you meditate on God's Word (to mutter to yourself, to think deeply into, to ponder), it puts you in that verse and it puts that verse in you. The Word becomes real to you; it becomes alive. Meditating on God's Word helps you to "own" it, and you know that you can't spend something you don't own. Many people have learned to confess God's Word, but sometimes with little results, because they haven't taken the time to meditate on it first and to make it real to their own hearts. - Nancy Dufresne The Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, is God's "I Will" to every seeker for full salvation of spirit, soul and body. - Kenneth Hagin The true Gospel of Jesus Christ is a revelation of how God has taken sinful man and made him a new creature and imparted to him a perfect righteousness. - John Osteen Never dig up in unbelief what you have sown in faith. - Gordon Lindsay God's best is for the believer to take His Word that says he is healed, put that Word in his heart, confess it with his lips, and allow it to be medicine to his flesh. - Jerry Savelle Faith heals, sets free, receives from God and walks in liberty. - Ray McCauley If satan can keep you in the sense realm, he will destroy you - but if you keep him in the faith realm, you'll put him under your feet. - Frederick K. C. Price God wants His people well, but it is up to us to make the decision to walk in health. - Marilyn Hickey Did you know that Jesus built you and me a house of healing two thousand years ago? But that house of healing Jesus built for us will remain vacant until we decide to move into it. - Ed Dufresne Justification is what God does for us, while sanctification is what God does in us. - P. C. Nelson Let no one pray for a mighty baptism of power who is not prepared for deep heart searchings and confession of sin. - Evan Roberts We are conscious of the need of constant prayer for more and yet more of the Holy Spirit's presence and power. But as we give ourselves yet more and more to prayer, we shall see greater and more glorious revivals. - Stanley Frodsham Live is such a way as to pass something tangible to a new generation. - Lillian Thrasher Always resist even the appearance of evil. In doing so, evil will never subdue you. The blood of Jesus is the answer. - Lam Jeevarat-Nam Jesus came to deliver men from sin and sickness that He might make known the love of the Father. In His actions, in His teachings of the disciples and in the work of the apostles, pardon and healing are always found together. - Andrew Murray God's power under us, in us, surging through us, is exactly what turns dependence into unforgettable experiences of completeness. - Bruce Wilkinson Faith is the hand with which we take from God.
