i had a long talk with my brother about the blues and reds awhile back and i thought i'd share some ideas we brainstormed for a better season (because s15 has so potential gone down the shitter) so uhh scroll while you still can. professional yapping under cut

ok so thinking about it now i don't exactly know how this would work about we had an idea that some of the reds and blues stayed back on chorus (i know, i know, this is already creating plotholes.) we decided on tucker, simmons, and sarge. we also thought itd be cool if tucker was like a cooler version of felix and wash combined. i think he'd train lieutenants☝️ maybe some simmons jensen bonding time i need those nerds to be friends!!! they can geek together. i also think simmons would like to observe chorus and help them recover from the war. and sarge would just stay idk

nooowww let's get into some ideas we had to improve the b&rs

surge, now being a sort of opposite of sarge, gained his rank from deception and tricks and he's actually quite cowardly, he'd risk a whole platoon to save his own ass (but oh no, they fought well and died in honor..) he doesn't really care for command and order, but follows temple because he has to. we came back to this a few months later and also had another idea that he was an odst like sarge but was very traumatized after the war and was very apathetic to life.

genes more street smart than book smart, also a massive trickster. he only pretends to think surge is in charge, he really hates surge (plus i had an idea that sarge DID save surge, but he left surge on his own and gene pushed him in the lava mwahahaha) but despite that he actually sort of idolizes temple, seeing him as the leader surge never was. my guy turned down his leader just to immediately cling onto the first authority figure he views as "different from the others" (different as in worse. so much worse) or he's just the same. cause that joke was pretty funny

i think it'd be interesting if cronut acted more like s1 donut (because the difference is INSANE 😭) not much further explanation on this but also added a point that he's using the b&rs just for the time machine (what for? we didn't exactly get that far.) OH ALSO MAYBE NAMED BAGEL LMAO

so we had two ideas for buckey. he's either huge creepazoid turned up to 11 or a huge religious freak that DESPISES tucker for his sexual nature. swears its gods words telling him to persevere and help the b&rs on their plan. to add onto the first idea, i think he'd have all of tuckers worst traits amplified by like, a lot. the only reason they keep him around is cause he's a sniper (also had a little idea that he was the one who shot wash)

lorenzo is silent. cant speak LOL we had some ideas about him being given freelancer equipment. alsssooooo added onto this with the possibility of the suit being ran by the greed ai (and that the armor was georgia's suit colored brown cause of the georgia & greed theory) plus they had an emp bomb installed as a backup. maybe this ones a stretch

nothing much for loco. i guess i liked his whole "hes not REALLY evil thing" but i wouldve liked to see an evil side of loco, even just a little. oh we had an alternative idea for the machine he was builing, somewhat of a slipspace bomb to lure in unsc ships to boom boom them

i don't really know what to add to biff 😭 i actually liked his character as he was. uuuuuhhhhh i wouldve liked more georgina. pls. i love heryou dont understamd.

OHHH ALSO ALSO we had an idea that when tucker finally gets to temple he pulls out fucking yellow church as an ai fragment. he threatens to destroy it and does his little rant about how the ai fragments were also the cause of all this. to add onto the slipspace bomb idea, the bomb is destroyed at the unfortunate cost of yellow church. bye bye buddy. arthur's steadfast belief that john can be good is sooooooo interesting to me. i like to think that part of it is just his way of coping with the fact that a sometimes very violent eldritch entity is sharing his body now but i also kind of agree that john's been acting more human recently

miu being the mastermind is something i had for my own rewrite like with my oc but also i really like the idea, we could also have her do something with kiibo at some point like install a virus on him or wtvr that would make him kill someone? because she operates on him in the game anyway so having her do so and then have that fall into place later but like not give him time to say somethingabout it is really fun to me

kirumi i dont really have a reason for her being the first victim other than im a sucker for kirukiyo and i think he'd be pretty distressed that she died (im being very self indulgent here but we can change this if u want to, idk ur opinions on kirukiyo so !!! its up to u), we could also do something where the murders happened at almost the exact same time so he could have saved her if he had just been somewhere instead of trying to kill someone for his sister to have another "friend" in the afterlife

rantaro i wanted to die at some point but not at the start, in part bc i love him but also because i think itd be really interesting if he was killed in ch 5 instead of kokichi because he has a lot of importance too, right? so i think a killing with him could be just as good, he could have helped the killer because he wanted them to try to find out the mastermind during his trial or something idk. still in speculation but i think it would be cool

YOURE SO CORRDCT ON RANTARO BTW his character generally suffers from the fact he was killed off way at the beginning, and ugshdh he could have done. so much. if he was left alive a little longer. i’ve said this before but that’s a common issue just in general with the type of game danganronpa is especially with the writers not adjusting the arcs for their allotted time which causes me PAIN. yeah leave him alive for longer for sure. and oooo i like rantaro, i think he could go either way being a killer or victim. especially if at the end of it all no matter how it goes down, hes wrong. whether he kills the wrong person, or if he’s caught in the middle of a planned murder and happens to be collateral damage/the mistaken victim while he’s trying to go after the mastermind and either way their only lead to the mastermind is now just gone

one of the things i do really like about v3 despite all my criticisms against it, is the fake-out protagonist. i’m not saying we have kaede die again or shuichi goes in her place, but i think it’d be cool to include something like that with one of the cast members? maybe kaito? idk im throwing things at the wall rn but basically im trying to figure out a way to have a character haunt the narrative like kaede did

yeah i ahev no clue about protags either yet, we can always just figure that out down the line sometime🎉🎉🎉

god i love him so bad... thats the main thing i wanna get cleared up right the fuck away. i love him SOSO bad and i think jesson uses him completely inappropiately and im stealing him. okay? hes my oc now.

this is also a warning, i havent refreshed completely with my mcd knowledge and mystreet is more fresh in my mind so if i say something wrong about a plot point be nice to me im doing my best im a little guy with a dissociative disorder so i forget shit

aaalllrighty where the hell do i begin?

okay so first off, right off the bat: when he got back from the nether in mcd, he should've been blind. because

disability representation. blindness isnt something that can just be cured unless you get touched by jesus christ himself (im not religious but i think thats in the bible lol) and it something that impacts millions of people on the daily. exposing that to young kids can introduce them to the fact that not everybody is just like them and that people come in many different shapes and sizes. and it ofc helps anyone who happens to be blind have a chracter to relate to and project on.

do YOU KNOW HOW COOL IT WOULD BE FOR A BLIND KNIGHT? like fighting is a very visual skill for the most part you need to see your opponents sword to properly dodge it or you are good and truly fucked. so taking something integral to fighting and ripping it away gives another great chance for character development as well as some really sick ass scenes where laurence goes all toph and uses his senses that are now firing at all cylinders and kicks total ass

ANGST ANGST ANGST ANGST!! like. laurence is a very visual guy, right? he sees pretty ladies to flirt with, he's a knight, he cares about his looks. so now he has all of that pretty much ripped away from him in an instant. what the fuck is he supposed to do? he flounders. hes a shell of his former self, in a way. like hes still there, hes still alive, but is he even laurence anymore? its something he has to learn to embrace and come to terms with. the main cast could also be super encouraging for him and basically is like "hey dude youre still the same fuckin awesome guy and you can still do all these fucking awesome things you just gotta learn how to do it again"

itd make for some cool relationship building between him and garroth or him and zoey or him and aphmau or even like him and cadenza. it gives him external relationships outside of just aphmau's love interest

JESUS FUCK I YAPPED A LOT ABOUT LAURENCE BEING BLIND OKAY

i think giving laurence (in both mcd and mystreet) jealousy/possessiveness issues is lame and a total turn off. like its such a gross thing to tell to kids, no? like "hey kids if you love someone they are ENTITLED to love you back and they CANT be in love with someone else"

obviously this behavior is still shut down but still... like why include it? especially because, prior to him falling in love, he seemed to be just a completely chill dude who only gets angry if he needs to. but suddenly hes mass slaughtering people at weddings (mcd), stalking his love interest because he saw her talking with another guy (mystreet), giving aphmau the cold shoulder because she is either indecisive or loses interest in him (this goes in both series i believe)

like it just gives you such an ick and obviously i know why they did this. i will say this until the day they put me in the damn ground its because of motherfucking aaron becoming a love interest. i have zero issues with aaron as a character and i even like him as a character (i have redeemed myself. i used to hate him) but as a love interest i think hes the worst thing to happen to every series because he just simply destroys any male character who had the potential to be shipped with aphmau which was all of them

were moving to mystreet here because mystreet is the best and most glaring example of this because mystreet was after they had decided to make aarmau canon in mcd and you can tell because of the way they set up laurence and garroth.

lemme explain and yes i know this is deviating from strictly laurence a tad but stay with me

im not going to use pdh because pdh was written after mystreet based off of the fact that for some reason travis doesnt know aphmau???? despite them being best friends in pdh??? WHATEVER WHWATEVER NOT THE POINT OKAY. were also going to completely disregard the undercurrent of grooming for aarmau and were going to pretend like this relationship is normal and not at all weird. okay? okay.

so from the moment you first meet laurence and garroth, you can tell their vibes are off. theyre openly hostile with each other (even if its playful theyre still "competeing" for her), theyre trying to shove each other out of the way. it makes them seem unlikeable. every time theyre on screen theyre talking to her or about her (often times planning on stalking her or getting irrationally jealous because they heard something through the grapevine) and it just turns the viewer off. if youre a first time viewer without any preconcieved notions of these character you're thinking "wow thats creepy. why would she stay friends with them? why would she bother sticking around her if all they want is a relationship out of her and not a genuine friendship?" and if you happened to watch mcd first youre thinking "wow is this how theyre really like? wow i dont like them at all anymore" and then you go to mcd and see their worst traits being ramped up and amplified to make them even more unlikable

and then you see aaron

in mcd hes a silent protector. hes always by aphmau's side. hes her one true loyal knight even when she does something he doesnt like. they understand eachother in ways that laurence and garroth just dont

in mystreet hes her guard dog. hes always there to step in when shes uncomfortable. hes her secret best friend her home away from home. he makes her feel loved in such a way that laurence garroth never could since theyve only ever cared about her superficially and not in any way that really, truly mattered

it makes the audience cling to him. it makes them think "well fuck why did the other guys even try hes obviously perfect for her" it blinds them of any other potential option because jesson just didnt give any other opportunity to shine through.

and thats fine. thats completely fine they can do whatever the hell they want to with their series because as one creative to another sometimes you just gotta make your bed and lie in it knowing that not every bitch out there is going to like every creative decision you make.

as a viewer it just.... it just makes you feel dissatisfied. leaves a bitter taste in your mouth, especially given the fact that in mcd you were basically told "these are your two options for love interests" and then a third love interest swoops in seemingly out of nowhere, gets her pregnant, and then he fucking dies.

in mystreet it just like... ugh. i dont know. i guess i feel happy for them because i can see their development. but like me personally i cant really feel shit for ms aarmau simply because of pdh and the FUCKING WEIRDNESS OF THEIR RELATIONSHIP

sorry this, once again, turned into a rant about how aaron's introduction as a love interest fucking ruined everything (my words, not anyone elses)

to sum up this long, long, long post my thoughts on laurence are as follows: i think hes written very poorly in mystreet and severely mishandled in mcd. i think that he had the potential to be very interesting in both series if used properly and he couldve had more intersting things happen to him in terms of the love interest department.

i think hes a character that gets the a lot of the character assassination tirade that jesson went on and i wish we got to see more of him but unfortunately we never will since you know his va left.

but most importantly:

sooo ill be honest, it was lowkey more of a throwaway line. but this ask had me thinking, and i thought itd be kind of fun to try and incorporate it somehow into the world setting?

but its sort of difficult to figure it out in a way that isnt well.. weird.

im basing my fic to be somewhere around world tour time, so alejandro (and noah) are both seventeen (17) in human years. when people typically think of vampires, they imagine them to be very old (im talking like centuries old), and alejandro very well could be.

if we go with that, then id say he would be a teenager in vampire years as well, but in a more convoluted way. say, 117 years old instead, but the 17 is the important indicator.

but still, thinking of it that way, its like well lots of vampire romance never really delves into how these vampires are just.. way older than their love interests? (looking at you, twilight). and then, the line i included wouldnt make much sense.

then it had me thinking about how species age differently from humans in general, for example dogs; one year to a human is the equivalent of fifteen years to dogs. then i was like hmm, thatd still be pretty old if we went with that sort of logic in regards to vampires; i.e, me trying to doggify vampire years.

so then i was like, well what animals are associated with vampires? bats! it took me a while to figure out how bats work in terms of ages, since they hibernate. well, apparently bat years are younger than human years. perfect right?

.. theeen i figured out that 17 human years is the equivalent to 3/4 years in bat. which arguably is worse.. so its like.. lets just disregard that line in that context.

we can say that maybe old vampires view young ones as inherently more childish than their actual ages. lets say alejandros parents are significantly older than him, and that theres this whole hierarchy in terms of how long youve been a vampire (and given that only bloodborne vampires exist these days, alejandro would be considered the youngest vampire to date). this would give some ground to him feeling mature in his age, but those around him view him as a childish babyvamp, despite him not being so.

but then itd also be hard to incorporate other vampire things in regards to alejandro, since hed have to be so new to the world both vampirically and humanly.

so .. i should really stop zoning out when im writing, seeing as it led me to this sort of plothole. lets just stick with him being 17 for the sake of all our minds. im not mathmatically inclined enough to figure out a way to make it cool. ill probably go back and rewrite that line in a way that is less.. confusing.

so! vastgiver. tva, my beloved asshole tva, and lifegiver talked one time before meeting puppet to puppet. it was just your normal chat, asking about how lifegivers doing and what his whole deal is. a budding friendship, perhaps..? WRONG. tva then tried to kill his local group (comprised of two other iterator ocs of mine) (bg gave him access to their security systems, for reasons that would take long ot explain, which if youre interested in i would tell you but this is a vastgiver post hehe, and, then once tva had that access, he turned off their water supply, for funsies! bg and ui share their can), who then sent out an emergency broadcast all 'AHH HELP WERE BEING KILLED' and of course many iterators heard that. two other iterators from my friends went over to ui and bgs can to help them, and one other friend's oc went over to tva's can to laugh at him. and then lifegiver.

lifegiver made his presence very much known. he started drilling through tva's can with a gigantic mechanical beast, which is like, imagine someone drilling through you. imagine meeting your partner like that. lifey was especially mad because tva's doings reminded him of a personal experience he had with his local group.

he was soo angry, and, eventually, drilled his way into tva's chamber (where his puppet/body resides). he came out of his beast, yelled at tva and my other friends oc (who he was also angry at bc vivi wasnt helping at all and was rather annoying) a bit and then STABBED tva through the head!!! imapled him!!! and then tva umm. hehe. the first bud of their romance sprouted

'Itd be super hot if we kissed right now' my guy theres blood all over you and lifey is gonna for sure stab you again. tvas thought process was 'hey if hes gonna kil me i can at least make him feel as uncomfortable as possible' . anyway. this startled lifey. he didn't expect this, naturally.

'Your poncho is quite fashionable' yea sure tva whatever just die already. then lifey says 'you disgust me so much i hate you just fucking die id kill you right now i will kill you' . and at this point tva was so intrigued by lifey that he said, hey, if you let me live i'll umm not kill those two! how does that sound . and ofc lifey said Yes. so 👍they tva used this as a way to convince lifey to stay and talk with him a bit. and they talk. not about feelings but like, how cool and swag lifegiver is, tva praises him a whole bunch . n then tva is like Hey my can will collapse anyway from the damage youve done lol, and lifey fucking!!! says that his friend could fix him!!! like tva is just like 'ohhhh youre so swag and a hot babe youre so swag' and lifey already starts to get feelings for him . hilarious to me. of course this meant nothing to tva in the moment. then, uh oh, tva has lost too much blood! lifey goes over to him n just, holds him and chats with him as this puppet of his dies, ea comes and is like Hey i stole your fucking ball idiot. and tva goes nooo not my ball!! and dies. and lifey is sad about it.. holds his puppet so gently.. then ofc tva had other puppets prepared, so, he just woke up in another one, went back to lifey, hung out with him some more, their bond deepened, lifey even fuckinggg said 'i love you' !!!! im not kididng you.. tva calls lifey all kinds of silly nicknames, one of them being 'lifey wifey' which makes lifey almost as mad as he was when threatening to kill him. n then they nap for two cycles and lifey has to leave.

and then umm. 👍well tva's can falls . he sends out a broadcast which is him going FUCK THIS SUCKS. LIFEY HELP n lifey Does help he comes over to the wreckage of his can and ressurects him and tva realizes, oh, this loser really does love me, huh. n cries and sobs and they hug and hehe lifey takes her to his can:3 so that she'd be safe from danger .. then they go on a silly little date where they KISSY

they KISSY!!! and tva also met lifeys little brother.. n before that she also met some of his slugs, which lifey introduced tva to as his 'mate' bc he didnt know how else to, bc that was the only yword the slugs iunderstood, and hee theyre so silly tva was teasing him so much the whole time even before that. this is al happening in like the span of 30 cycles btw. which is, like 30 days, say. can oyu believe this.

after that umm they go back home and lifey says that hes prepared a room for tva in his city and tva says he'll find it himself and hes like Fuck Fuck Fuck this guy really cares for me Fuck so he goes and rips out a part of his core.👍gives himself a little ol lobotomy... to forget he ever did anything wrong.. lifeys overseer sees but doesnt act immediatly. tva has a litlte ol nap.

and man i really like what comes next. so. lifey after a few cycles goes and cuddles with tva, tells him ohh i love you so much. and he knows what tva did t this point, or suspects, at least. and tva is sooo happy. n then lifey touches his ribcage and notices its been opened n is like. hey did you open your ribcage. and tva goes haha no. n lifey displays the overseer photos and goes what the fuck is this then. huh. complete shift in tone. i love him. umm then they fight🧡this small arc ends with lifey getting tva another core.

then uhh . um. hehe. uhh. they fight bc its revealed to the publc that lifey saved tva. and lifey is upset about this ofc. and tva comes to visit him, they fight, lthey both ell a bunch ateach other, tva storms out but then storms back in n shows his core and yells If you really hate me that much then just destroy my core and kill me!! and umm . lifey damages his own puppet severely👍tva manages to fix him . n umm . stuff happens, lifey gets sad and tva proposes to make him feel better. were at 60 cycles at most here, dude. two months.

lifye says yes and!! thast whats happening in the rp rn:D!!! tvheyre getting married!!!! dude theyre getting married!!! in the middle of the vwedding tva just. fucking. fucked it up. Yautja. Predators. However you want to call them. They have a very particular, hunting and honor-centric cultural mindset. But. What would it be like for someone in their culture to just... not be into that? There are people who are basically entirely averse to romance, in spite of how central it is in our culture, so how would some who is, uh... akynig, not interested in hunting? And how would such a person, perhaps, adapt to another society, lacking this aspect of Yautja culture but carrying across many others?

The worldbuilding nut in me is always excited about those things but it is a very rare opportunity to discuss it in any manner >>

i dont rly know anything abt the predator film franchise so i cant rly add much but i do enjoy the idea of like. alien cultures and what that means for the individuals within that culture.

idk how comparable this is but i was just recently watching a video that was talking abt the ferengi from star trek and how upon their original introduction they were kinda this one note species because their sole characteristic was being a hyper capitalistic culture built around hoarding wealth, but in deep space 9 we start to actually see individual ferengi characters outside the context of this monolithic cultural concept and come to understand that their greed is not like some innate personal trait but the result of the values and demands of ferengi society.

theres def a larger discussion to be had abt the way a lot of popular scifi tends to narrow entire planets worth of people down to singular traits and how thats kind of a major weakness when it comes to like world building and imagining alternate societies, but when thats a thing the franchise is already doing it does open up an interesting avenue of like, how many ppl within this culture actually share this valued trait? how many are just going along with it bc its what you do? how many have so deeply internalized it that even if removed from this society and its rules they would unconsciously mirror it? is there a space for counter-culture in this world?

it seems like itd be harder to analyze stuff like that in the context of predator movies tho since, from my limited understanding, it seems like the yautja were at least originally designed simply according to what would make them serve best as a scary antagonist. i do think its cool tho that there seem to be a lot of fans who are trying to give their species more depth and complexity than the source material affords them. again tho im probably missing a lot of actual context lol.

Pinky (cause they pink more of a joke name suggestion but when I did look at them this was my first thought) Rosy/Maple (from the Rosy maple moth which is pink and yellow, it's a very cute fluffy moth and is a personal fav lmao (I know I might use Rosy as a name for a mew I wanna make who's also gon be pink with bits of yellow who was gonna be actively based off a Rosy maple moth but lmao I haven't actually been able to make her yet I scrapped first drawing coloring attempt cause I didn't like it lmao, this is just a random trivia thing I wanted to share just cause I think itd be very fun if we both had Mews called Rosy, plus it's a really cute name and like with the mews green eyes like kind of a rose of u squint))

Speaking of rose there is a type of rose that's pink and yellow, according to Google it's name is "Peace" tho I assume maybe that means it represents that but I think Peace is a cute name and mews wouldn't normally have standard names I don't think idk

And lastly from my quick little research I found Aster which is another pink and yellow flower, check for aster pink yellow hybrid. The name aster apparently means Star and the flower was considered sacred to the Greek and Roman deities which is very interesting as like mews are sacred and diety in a way. These ancient wildflowers are steeped in mysticism which again very mew

I thought I’d share my animation process for that last gif (or what i’d recorded of it lmao) since someone might find it interesting :) Also its been tagged as edit a lot and I’m flattered u think I have that level of skill lol but it is actually easier for me to just draw it from scratch

first is the rough sketches of key frames (to estimate the timing and get the major poses and expressions down, I only have the last half of this gifs roughs btw)

After that I do the sketchy layer u see here to make the characters recognisable, then I add more frames in between until its smooth and at a pacing I like

(the swords are in red and blue so I can see the lines easier, those little details get me muddled)

Next is the clean line art

Then the flat colours, the shading, and glowy effects in that order

Draw yourself a dodgy as hell wide-shot background and blur it all to add depth, put focus on the characters, and make sure no one pays too close attention to it

I've been thinking of this SO much the past few days. I am the kind of person who likes doing a lot of crafts with my hands, i make bookmarks or small notebooks and stuff, and finding new ppl to give these to is an amazing feeling!

The Sinclair house (and Lester's place AND car) would be overflowing with trinkets in no time.

The sigil/circular Gallifreyan would be especially a big hit with Vince, but Lester secretly loves stuff like that too. I hc that Vince is kinda into spititual stuff, and wax is an interesting substance in many beliefsystems, which feels very intuitive for him (him and a witch s/o?? glorious). For Bo, he would be so touched, and get jealous if you'd leave him out, so he wants/gets the same as Vince: a carved candle that will never be lit, only set on his nightstand for him to stare at each night. (one with a 'sweet dreams' or 'chase nightmares away' meaning, and in the morning he'd come down, kiss your forehead and insists that you're magic because 'it worked!')

If they know you're leaving behind little well-wishes or blessings with each of these gifts (the phrase 'get home safe' or such) it would be so touching, theyd carry it close, and i mean CLOSE, along with a picture of you or of the two of you together.

And Lester showing an interest and you teaching him!! Im big soft for this omg; He so would, he'd share your excitement and make you stuff in return!! Friendship bracelets!!

i imagine the kira killings mustve been attributed to mass hysteria by most of the public; at least, at first. thinking logically, supernatural causes isnt a very reasonable conclusion to jump to off the bat. i could be remembering the series wrong but im surprised that wasnt a larger theory that the masses resorted to instead of immediately assuming it to be an individual.

i mean, it would make sense. mass delusions are like a domino effect. using death note as the example, it makes perfect sense for a criminal to have a heart attack due to stress while in jail. & if its happening an unusual amount to seemingly only criminals it also makes sense that would cause stress for the living criminals.

obviously not all the evidence aligns that theory. the timing, the fact its only criminals whove had face/name shared, the targets shifting when the death note was given to another kira, etc. also, not to mention how it didnt occur with ordinary citizens who were no doubt stressed about a possibly supernatural serial killer.

idk. just a thought. it makes sense that this theory wouldve been brushed off pretty quickly with the evidence L gained at the start. but average citizens didnt have access to such information. its realistic that the supernatural 'kira' would gain a cult following by some, but i do feel like its even more realistic for outsiders to chalk it up as mass hysteria. mass delusions are real & a really interesting phenomena (hell, ones theorized to be going around right now with the havana syndrome). i think itd b cool if death note explored that concept more. i mostly think itd just be funny to see lights anger at people thinking this way LMAO.

My honest answer to this question is that due to the nature of most stuff im working on i'm Never *Not* Thinking about them. Though most of these thoughts are disordered and a tad holistic, so calling it meta feels silly when im just pointing out text observations or something ill later fit into a story LOL

That being said, the latest detail I've been mulling over (and if you follow my rambletwitter this will not come as new information) is the manner in which jake will exaggerate aranea's hot-girl availability and interest in him entirely to spite dirk (Here, brain ghost dirk,) for ignoring him and his attempts at communicating for the first half of act 6. 

Jake knows being around aranea makes 'A' dirk jealous, jealous enough he won't shut up about it, and this kind of honest no-bullshit attention is the very same he's been fruitlessly looking for as the AR hogs all viable lines of communication and "real" dirk refuses to tip his hand. There's an ongoing theme there that i don't usually see explored, and its part of what makes their relationship blow up in the latter half of act 6: Dirk's emotional maze and steel mask of irony prevents him from being sincere and open with the people he loves (metaphorically and literally) even when they're standing right next to one another. You can talk at dirk without talking with dirk, the same way dirk can talk at you without focusing on you - bit of a bad habit, there- and this sort of mixed signal drives jake a little bit mad. He's not even sure dirk likes him half of the time, because it is not something that is stated between them. (And as i said before, the verbal affirmation part of the "believing" process is a big thing for jake - and generally fits right into his neurodivergent profile. 0 emotional permanence, if you don't say you like him he's going to doubt it with his pingpong brain.) So when he sees the opportunity to actually get dirk to react in a way that makes sense, he grabs it. Its a big "Oh? So now you can pay attention to little ol" me???? Now you care??"

(The jump in tone between these because dirk wont let go of stewing in bitterness while also trying to make jake embarass himself & jake throwing it right back at him that at least alien girl is talking to me! And yes she is ""hot""! "And most importantly maybe if you werent so difficult this would be US!!! . jpeg" is A Lot)

(I also posted these two, bc the way jake casually mentions his status with dirk and/or tries to get her to talk about Real Lore Shit instead of more winkwonk nonsense says more about his intentions than brain ghost dirk prompting him into thinking about porn by yapping about it)

In game dirk latches onto making them adventuring agendas and exercise programs and matching outfits and grinding for exp inside dungeons for 8 hours straight, nonstop, most of which probably spent rambling about the supposed intricacies of sburb's philosophical stances, but all of it is never *explicitly* about the nature of their romantic relationship, or affection, or any sort of emotional intimacy without a takebacksies of "i'm kidding, because I'm a stone cold cool dude." It's almost as though he's making their romance into subtext just for the sake of unproblematically acknowledging it as a Bromance instead, given he still thinks the AR forced jake's feelings, except… he's also desperately trying to engage with jake like this, expecting any attention to count as positive attention. Its a nonstop marathon to effectively monopolize being around jake without having to touch on the complicated / embarassing / necessary parts of dating someone. When jake finally loses interest in playing this extended brainpuzzle game of 0 honesty with dirk and his many extended dlc splinters, he goes to sit on the grass and huff and rant about it, but it's nothing we haven't actually seen before. Jake states many a time that he's not sure if dirk is really into him, with all the false positives. But he has no qualms about saying if he had to date someone, itd probably be dirk, or that he used to joke way back if dirk was a girl they'd be totally in love until he realized that didnt matter, all the while objectively classifying jane's hinted at feelings as "unrequited" or straight up saying "no, I'm not in love with aranea, what the fuck?" When brain ghost dirk gets it into his head that he really wants to get into her pants and does all the heavylifting to entirely shift the conversation about how much she is his perfect alien girl. Its just funny to see how jake picks up that this is just because dirk is jealous, and dirk being jealous means hes willing to truly engage in what looks like an irritated but honest way, and jake wants said attention so much hes going to milk it for what its worth. (But when given the chance, he couldn't give less of a shit for actually kissing aranea, and it is actually framed as something horrifically wrong, because it was never about her, it was about dirk.)

1. I think yet another part of RS' writing issues is that she things antagonists always have to be evil villains. Lore Olympus often reads like a satirical example that a writing professor pulls out to yell about black and white morality in fiction.

2. More so, wouldnt Zeus actually be the mama’s boy in LO, not Hades? Rhea was able to save him when she couldn’t save her other kids and raised him alone to take out Kronos, they should have this close relationship, not Rhea and Hades. There’s a few things to note with this:

Hades holds some .. questionable feelings about his mother, seeing as she looks nearly identical to Persephone to an almost comical degree. It’s obviously more Rachel can’t character design her way out of a paper bag, but seriously? It looks bad, especially since it’s confirmed Hades is basically Kronos Jr in terms of looks and personality. Not the best ship to compare yourselves too …

It’s clear bias and just a terrible reading on the mythology, if not completely not reading the mythology to begin with. Zeus can be framed as an asshole and still have trauma from his youth, the fact only “good” characters have trauma for you to sympathize with but all the “bad” guys have what could be real trauma demonized or completely removed so they don’t look sympathetic at all is like? Really?

I don’t agree with it, but it could have been a shared parallel between Hades and Persephone if it turned out he too was the unfavored/unloved child compared to Zeus. Not only does it aide in HxP having a similar “my mommy is mean to me!” Sob story, but also aide in why Hades and Zeus don’t get along. It would sting a lot to know your mother didn’t save you, but made sure to save him.

Dislike Zeus all you want, whether it be mythology or a fictional reimagining, but he did work hard and lead the Olympians to victory over Kronos and earned his title and role as their king, and was considered a good one too. Him being horny doesn’t mean he’s somehow a bad leader, none of the mythology or actual society/culture ever said that, since his illicit liaisons weren’t a mark of his leadership qualities. Rachel playing the “Not only is Hades better suited for being the King, he’s also so humble he didn’t even want it! And was forced to rule the underworld! But also he’s the best king! Also everyone loves and respects him but not Zeus! Even his own wife wants Hades over him!” Is so childish. It is one thing to favor a character you like over another, but literally making Zeus a jealous, washed up loser compared to Hades? That’s just stupid. You can like Hades all you want, but acting like he’s better than Zeus in every regard to illogical degrees is a clear show of not getting the actual mythology and being more akin to a tumblr “scholar” than a supposed mythology expert as RS claims to be 

5. thetis is like that because the only female villain smythe knows how to write is 'manipulative slutty mcslutslut out to STEAL MEN with her EVIL SEX BODY' and knowing what zeus does to thetis in the actual myths, it just feels ... disgusting. greasy. imagine being that much of a victim-blamer.

6. with a name like LO youd think itd actually be about Zeus, tbh, or just the Olympians in general. A story about how Zeus and Hera are dealing with king/queenship would be way more interesting. The fact its instead about how sad Hades is over his broken dick and Persephone being totally cool with slavery now so she can bang him is like ... why ...

7. Hmmm had a terrifying and worrysome thought - so with the "golden traitor" story and sort of parallels between Hera and Persephone, you don't suppose RS is using that to be foreshaodwing? Like she wouldn't have Persephone try and seduce / trick Zeus to lighten her sentence, right?

Or have Persephone do something similar with Kronos (because who knows where that plots going, aside from maybe Leto sacrificing Persy so Apollo can take over and rule Olympus and she can get revenge on Zeus?

Cause Hera seduced Kronos to help her siblings out and theres been some parallels between her and Persephone (didnt RS say Kore liked being compared to Hera?) So, she might have Persephone "seduce" Zeus to lighten her sentence and get her and her mother off the hook for her act of wrath?
