Congrats for reaching 2.7k followers !! Do you think you could do either Silver or Sebek (or both if it’s not too much >_<) for the Villain/ess AU? Again, congrats!!!🎉🍾🎈🎊

‧₊˚✧Being Reincarnated into a New World as the Bad Guy‧₊˚✧

If you look past the whole…absurdity that is being reincarnated into a dating simulation of your previous world, you'd say you hit the jackpot here.
You suddenly found yourself as a minor antagonist who was supposed to be love obstacle to one of the popular targets of the game, the venerable Dragon Fae King Malleus Draconia. As such, you became a stereotypically beautiful but unbelievably vain fae character of high social standing, an antithesis to the lovable and modest main protagonist.
The heroine can have the dragon king, you thought. You’ll just dab away your tears while you bathe in luxury.
If you could have one complaint…it would probably be your “original” personality.
You and your family were infamous for their stance against mixing with humans. Coming from a long line of pure fae blood, your original character held hostility over “pathetic parasites leeching off the purity of the faes.”
Oooff, what a piece of work you apparently were.
It was this prejudice that your family demanded the engagement between you and Malleus, and the reason for the vicious treatment of the main heroine…which inevitably led to the loss of your golden spoon, and imprisonment of you and your family.
Oh, screw that! Absolutely not!
Thus began the start of your total image revamp. You were going to prove that you definitely won’t be an obstacle for the unity of human-fae harmony, or if the dragon king were to suddenly bring a human as his consort-to-be.
But sadly it was easier said than done.
“What is that person doing here?”
The patrolling knights whispered to themselves as they narrowed their gaze towards your back. Their searing glares felt burning to your very being, but you smiled through it as you carried a large basket of goodies.
“I wish to do my part as a noble and help sponsor this orphanage, and I brought some sandwiches if the children would like some.”
“Hah! Do you even realize what kind of orphanage this is?” One of the knights sneered at you. This was one of the few shelters that was willing to house human children that turned up in the forest near the kingdom’s borders, often abandoned and left to perish if not for the Vanrouge family who founded this orphanage.
Unfortunately, the duke family is its only sponsor as prejudice still runs strong in many noble families, yours included.
“I’m aware, and I want to assist with the upkeep of this orphanage.” You asserted your stance. “I understand that the Vanrouge family is very busy so I volunteer my assistance since my manor is close.”
Many of the knights aren’t convinced. They stood in the way of the orphanage as though they’re guarding from someone dangerous. Some tried to whisper stealthily amongst each other but your fae ears could pick up their words.
“This is probably a cruel trick.” “Maybe the food is poisoned.” “How terrible.”
“If you gentlemen would like, you are free to try some of the sandwiches.” You offered kindly, but your smile was strained and your fingers tight around the basket’s handles.
You expected this, but the building frustration and humiliation is hard to suppress. You knew your family’s reputation precedes you and their doubts are valid, but to suspect that you are some sort of monster who could harm children for simply being human? You would never, how could they…
“Thank you for such kindness, your grace.”
Your bitter spiral broke at the sound of a clear voice, strong but warm at the same time. A hand reached out to pick out a small sandwich, which your gaze followed to meet a pair of the most beautiful eyes you have ever seen.
To the shock of the other knights, this man unhesitantly took a large bite of the handmade sandwich, then cleanly finished it in a few more bites. His auroral eyes shone with such warmness as he thanked you once more. “It was delicious.”
“Silver, careful!” The knight called out to the mysterious man before you. “You shouldn’t trust anything from that snake-“
“Hold your tongue, sir.” Despite showing nothing but kindness before, the fair-haired knight was quick to sternly reprimand his comrade before he turned to you to bow his head. “I apologize for my comrade’s rude behavior. I will accept any punishment in his stead.”
Flustered, you replied quickly. “Please think nothing of it! I know of my family’s… notoriety, so I understand the suspicions you and your knights have.”
“I’d rather judge someone by their actions rather than their family.” He smiled, and you swore your heart nearly stopped for a moment. What an unfairly beautiful man, you thought.
Like a practiced knight, the beautiful man offered you a hand. “Allow me to carry the basket for you. The children will be excited to see a new face.”
Wordlessly, you gave the basket to him and proceeded to walk towards the orphanage, ignoring the stunned faces of the speechless men, not that you cared to acknowledge them anymore. Afterall, your attention has been stolen by this mysterious man next to you.
You were surprised how such a handsome and kind man liked him to show up. The way the other knights were quick to obey him, he was probably of higher standing or reputation. From his visuals to his manners, you thought he was definitely target route material. So, what was he doing as a minor NPC?
“What was his name? Silver? Was there a character like him in the main story?” You racked your brain for an answer. Surely a catch like him wouldn’t be left in the sidelines, unless…
As though one of Malleus’ lightning struck you, your body broke out in cold sweat as you finally recognized the suspiciously attractive knight beside you.
Silver, one of Malleus’ most trusted knights and the heroine’s closest friend in Malleus’ route. Believed to hold unrequited love for the protagonist, he swore to protect her, and eventually helped to capture and prosecute the love rival’s family for their wrongdoings.
In short, this good-looking man will be responsible for sending you to jail for bullying his one-sided love.
Oh, fu-
Tumblr media
Was this punishment for making fun of your friend for liking this dumb dating sim game? If it was, this is a bit much, isn’t it? The muscles in your body screamed for mercy as day after day, you were put through hellish training, stared down by an unmoving commander.
You vaguely remembered the plot of the story, but couldn’t figure out who you were, or if you were of any significance to the plot. For all you know, you were some human soldier for the fae kingdom, currently going through hell.
As a commoner human amongst fae, you were treated with jeers and insults from your so-called comrades. Some of your peers were more affable but there were some poorly made characters clearly just there to make your life miserable.
“Is this my villain arc? Is that it?” But you were barely above it all, since the soldier’s pay was decent, and all the school-ground taunts were easy to ignore. Honestly, there was only one person that really grinds your gears.
“You are insulting Lord Malleus’ great name if this is all you can do!”
That loud voice, now unmistakable to you, belonged to the obnoxious soldier Sebek Zigvolt who seems to live off proving his worth to the king of this kingdom.
“The goal was to do 100 push-ups, and that’s what I did.”
“Hah, that is mere child-play. I can go on for a hundred more!” If you have to give him something, he puts his money where his mouth is as the green-haired man then proceeded to continue on with the workout.
Be it a cruel joke or karma from your past life, you became partners with this loudmouth half-fae. The commander, Duke Vanrouge reasoned that it was to learn comradery and to balance each other’s flaws, but you suspect that there was more to it. But screw it, you don’t have the energy to pursue the real reason.
And so, you were stuck in this partnership/rivalry with Malleus’ most loyal soldier.
“We’re wasting time, weak human!”
You should get a hearing check after this, as you were unfavorably close to your partner, who despite telling him to stay quiet, continues to scream right into your ear.
“The course just started, you lousy crocodile.” You sighed as you knew Sebek wasn’t happy when you forced him to hide in the large grass.
As a surprise, your division was given a training course with color-coordinated powder pellets and painted rubber blades as ammo. The goal was to find and strike as many painted targets in the forest, with you and the other soldiers included as targets.
In addition to the stationary targets, it meant that you had to look out for other soldiers to target you for points. Fair enough, but while the instructions were straightforward, the one who devised this course was the Duke Vanrouge.
“I don’t trust a single thing that old fart comes up with.” You mumbled as you surveyed the scene. You expected traps, decoys, even surprise bears to jump up out of the blue, because anything is possible with the eccentric former general.
Then, a rustle from afar.
Before you could react, Sebek was quicker as he wrapped his arm from behind you, pushing you down with him as a pellet burst with colored powder above you. You heard cursing and more rustling from a close distance.
“Watch your surroundings, human!” Your green-haired yelled at you, as he effortlessly pulled you to your feet. The way he scanned your person, you almost made the mistake to think he was worried about you and you almost felt warm over that non-existent concern.
Both of you perked up to the sound of footsteps and turned to another pair of soldiers in front of you. To your luck, there were some of the soldiers that often taunted you.
“Hah, it’s the halfling and the leech.” The soldier sneered and started to run towards the two of you, using the course as an excuse for violence.
“Hmph, you’re no match for me.” But before Sebek could charge, you pulled him back with all your strength. It causes the tall soldier to stumble back and lean onto you, your hands on his chest and waist. You didn’t take notice, but Sebek felt a startlingly warm sensation with his heightened senses feeling your closeness to his sturdy figure, his skin burning where your hands lay flat on him.
“W-What are you doing, human! How dare you-“
Yells interrupted Sebek’s embarrassed tirade as the two foolish soldiers disappeared, with a large hole in front of you and Sebek. Cautiously, you stepped towards the manmade hole to see your “comrades,” bruised but alive for the most part.
“Pit traps… should have known that the commander would pull some looney tune crap.” Pulling out a few pellets, you threw it straight at the trapped men and dusted them with your color. “Man, that’s cathartic.”
You turned to your partner, who was staring at the pit which he nearly ran straight into. You were worried that the prideful half-fae was actually scared before he scared you instead with revigored energy.
“Of course, the great Lilia would challenge us to the fullest. I will not fail his faith in us!” He then sharply looked to you with a satisfied smirk. “Impressive, human. I commend your sharp eye, but I will not fall for such traps from now on!”
“Pfft, what was I thinking he’d be scared?” You thought, chuckling to yourself. It just wasn’t Sebek to back out of a challenge regardless of how insane or stupid it was. This training course was no better than a paintball game, but the straightforward Sebek would give his all no matter what.
“It’s almost cute.” Keeping that last tidbit to yourself, you started walking towards your partner. “Well, let’s keep going. Like you said, we’re wasting time.”

So uh, you know what DoL is, that game is bat shit but fun if you ignore certain aspects ... Its got some nuts lore and everyday activities, like image Yuu saying something like "oh this place is pretty nice, I haven't been kidnapped or almost kidnapped and nothing too crazy happened!" Extra wtf points if Yuu had TF traits (maybe devine and animal for extra fuckery) like oh they aren't a beastman they just ate a bunch of weird shrooms wore a sick ass choker and prayed for 50+ days (Wolf + Angel TF)
I mean yes, there's some parts I'm glad you can toggle off cause holy fuck. Then again the creator said that it is a trauma simulator and the whole point of the game is that it never gets better but you can cope which is one of my fav tropes in horror. Like fear and hunger in that regard (I think abt these games a lot tbh).
Tagging this as Dark Content just in case
The lore is so fucking intense and the fact there's a potential timeloop/eldritch being trapping everyone there and influencing them is fucking WILD. The whole world is a cage designed for you and it lets you know it.
Anyways. I can imagine that Yuu comes with a lot of trauma that needs to be worked out but they are one hell of a fighter... and I imagine Crewel is the one to break the horrible teacher curse and help them heal cause he's nice. Other students think you're insane for considering him kind. They also wonder why you put up with Crowley but he is an improvement from your previous headmaster.
Students getting their asses whooped in cause Yuu had to always fight for their life and shit.
So much "this is how it should have been" or "I wish I could have met you as a better person and loved you right away but I wouldn't have been able to love you as much as I do now cause you've been by my side"
Yuu panicking over the kids at the orphanage cause they're used to looking out for them. Bonus if maybe Deuce or Ace gets in trouble and Yuu takes the blame prepared for the most heinous punishment but instead just gets some boring homework to do and it kinda breaks them.
They share horrible stories that are relatable in their world and everyone just stops.
Also the transformation things in the game imply that Yuu to an extent is a shapeshifter that changes gradually. Can you imagine if a few months into the shool year Yuu gets Fae ears, maybe some animal like claws and sharp teeth, or even gills and they're like "yeah I can do that" or maybe they even fall in love with one of the non human boys and they start changing to be more like them cause they love them <33
This game ruined me

my gameplay rules
I constantly allude to the existence of gameplay rules, but I've never outright made a dedicated post about them... so here it is! I'll make a dedicated video for this at some point, but enjoy this lovely wall of text <3.
link to the dedicated video: here!
general gameplay style
I'm quite fast and loose with my gameplay. I'm primarily wants-based, but sometimes I want sims to do certain things so I'll just make it happen. If a sims doesn't roll a want to do certain things, however, then I won't make them do it (i.e going to college). If they roll the want to skip work, sometimes I'll let them do it 'cause it brings chaos.
So, basically, if anything sounds fun, I'll probably do it. I find it hard to stick to rules that are too strict, so most of mine are general rules of thumb. If I ever find myself getting bored, I rarely ever blame the game. The game is pretty kooky, so if nothing crazy is happening, it means I'm simply not allowing anything to happen.
I play with 7 day rounds! Using this mod that makes seasons 7 days long, I just play the whole week. Plus, any holidays I may want my sims to celebrate will be on the Sunday!
🧓 aging and death
Marticore has a great video on Sims 2's aging system, so I pretty much abide by that. Aging sims up when they receive that one day until their birthday notification. I use the Nice Lifespan mod, which adds a bunch of days and makes things make a bit more sense. I also edited the mod to age them up at midnight (because 6pm aging makes no sense).
Because my lifespan is so much longer, I recently started playing with slower skilling all-around. Using the 6-hr version of this mod.
Also, a higher a witch/warlock's alignment is, the longer they live (with the help of BO's slow aging controller). That's why Olive is still very much alive in my game, she's max alignment so she ages once a week.
When a sim is nearing death, I keep in mind inheritance. I use SimNopke's Inventory Inheritance to give away any stray items to their next of kin. If the sims owns a house, then the ownership goes to the child with the highest relationship. If the sims doesn't have any kids, then it goes to their spouse. If they aren't married, it goes to a very close friend. If they don't meet any of those requirements (bro how?!), then I sell the house and give the money to the orphanage.
I also really like playing with trans sims! I'm nonbinary myself so I need to project, obviously <3. So I roll a 5% chance of transing their gender... as a little treat. I'm still in the process of figuring out this mod, that'll let me have the memory of transitioning.
Death is also final in my game (with some extreme caveats). So, sims can't get resurrected unless the sim resurrecting is lvl 10 paranormal, and max witch alignment. And, anyone who's besties with tha sim gets to resurrect a sim of their choice. It's sort of a punishment for letting a sim die.
🌠 aspiration and personality
Sophie the Puffin has an absolutely killer aspiration calculator. I calculate everyone's secondary aspiration, and usually set them. Though, this can change depending on how I'm feeling. If I feel like it doesn't suit them, then I simply just won't set it.
I use the aspiration calculator to age up sims from child to teen as well! Using this interest age mod, it allow child sims to have more varied interests. I kinda stick to their secondary aspirations, because I can't be bothered to change it.
💼 career, education, and finances
I tried using Edukashun is Gud and… it just doesn’t make sense that I can’t be a Lvl 10 Criminal because I don’t have a degree. Like, that’s so silly. So I use Doctors Need Degrees that’s way more detailed.
Unless a sim wants to go to college, I won’t make them go. They need to roll the want on their birthday (or the day before). Once they do roll that want, I note down the day they moved out and play the family as normal. I play a whole round before I move the sims back in, to simulate time passing while they were in college. College is free, because you should never pay for education, but accommodation isn’t so sims will probably need to take out loans (4% interest rate) to pay for bills and the like. If my sims don’t want to pass the year, they won’t (but if they roll a fear of failure, they can pass). I just play it by ear.
Of course, semester changes is used… I’m not a lunatic.
No 20k handouts is an absolute godsend, so that’s an absolute must for me. Usually, graduates move out into apartments, but with the Tenancy and Landlord mod by Monique, I can have them rent out a house. This is what I’ve currently been doing with my La Fiesta Tech grads.
Child support is also a thing! It’s super handy, and also adds some challenge to managing finances.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 family
Romance sims have a 35% of giving their child up for adoption (or giving their child to their partner). They don’t wanna get bogged down with responsibilities! Similarly, they can’t try for baby (unless secondary family). Unless they roll a fear for having a baby, I won’t put them on birth control. And I’ll only take them off of birth control when they roll a want to have a child. If they roll this fear while pregnant, I terminate the pregnancy (1st trimester only).
I also nabbed this rule from a reddit thread:
Tumblr media
Though, I’ll still give the child away, family sim or not. I think it’s pretty realistic to feel in over your head with something as major as a child.
Getting your child taken away is also harder in my game, because I play with kids and pets unattended. You actively need to be evil for your kid to be taken away.
Aliens can impregnate/be impregnated regardless of the situation. They’re aliens! Don’t think about it!
I don’t have a hard and fast rule for number of children permitted (how dystopian), but I have a general rule of thumb. A romance/pleasure sim won’t want to have 3 kids probably, so 1 or 2 is alright.
No super fertility because I love my life! And I play with a quads mod, so I truly do not need it.
And if a gay/infertile couple want a genetic child, they need to either be lvl 10 of the science career (or be best friends with someone who is).
💞 romance
ACR my beloved <3. And romantic standards! I find ACR makes everyone horny freaks, so having romantic standards adds some challenge. Plus, it makes it much harder to just force a relationship. I don’t play with teen/adult romance — nor do I play with teen pregnancy. There’s no rush to have kids! They have the rest of their lives.
✦•······················•✦•······················•✦
Anyway hopefully this adds some context to what I’m thinking of when I play the game. Maybe you’ll adopt some of these rules too? Maybe I’ll add some more? I’ll be sure to update when I do!

God the arlechino defenders are even worse than the dottore defenders. I don’t have a problem with villains fans, I have my own problematic favs. Sometimes you love them because they’re the worst, but the people who try to justify their actions or twist the facts have the most punchable faces.
“BUT SHE LOVES THE SIBLINGS!!! SHE CARES ABOUT THEM!!! SHE SAVED LYNETTE FROM HUMAN TRAFFICKING!!!” And mother gothel loved rapunzel. She saw her as a daughter, she went out of her way to gather the ingredients and make her favorite foods, she got her all her art and other hobby supplies, but at the end of the day it was a means to an end. She did all that to keep rapunzel happy so she’d stay in the tower and gothel could keep using her hair to stay young. It’s the same thing with arlecchino, she wants something from the house members— their loyalty.
Arlecchino runs an orphanage that exists for the sole purpose of turning traumatized, vulnerable, desperate children into child soldiers for an international terrorist organization. The house of hearth simulates an artificial family dynamic to farm loyalty from its members so they feel a sense of responsibility to each other and to the organization and could never even consider leaving or thinking for themselves. She took the children in so they would feel they owed her for “saving them” and “giving them a safe home” so they’d work for her. She subtly manipulates and even blatantly lies to these children in order to maintain this family facade, and thus maintain her control over the children.
This is a cult. Lyney, Lynette, Freminet, and all the others are in a cult that Lyney is currently being groomed to one day inherit the leadership of, and none of them know it.
The arlecchino stans are literally parroting real abuse apologist rhetorics to defend her behavior. What the fuck is wrong with people.

Squid... But with a naive and extremely patient reader
I've been thinking about the fact that WYS is a rage game and I never ragequit and ended up having a silly idea
Maybe it's not following the logic of the game's lore, but who cares yall want to kiss the angry AI
TW/CW: Small spoilers for WYS.
Tumblr media
"Oh!" You chuckled "I didn't saw that spine..."
There's something about your patience that annoys Squid to no end. You weren't supposed to be having fun, and laughing at your own death! You're supposed to be banging your fist against your desk and cussing at Squid.
But instead, you stare at the screen with a smile, trying and trying to beat the current level so peacefully. While Squid just watched. Yeah, you're dying, Squid enjoy people dying, but why aren't you going mad about the game?!
If Squid had a leg, he would have his foot tapping the floor nonstop as he watched your attempts. And Squid hates it even more to admit that for some reason, he's not bored. Your reactions aren't negative, but it still entertains him... And he hates you for it.
Your laugh was so genuine, no hint of greed or malice like Squid is used to, it sounded light, and even a little silly. If Squid makes you die more times, will you laugh more for him?
For a rare moment, Squid chose silence. He wasn't aware if he was patient, or waiting to hear him chuckle, but for those few minutes, he decided to remain silent.
You were already on a new level already on your second try, only to end up dying again. You gasp, being surprised by your unplanned death.
"Haha." You laughed softly "I didn't expect this one"
Squid sometimes thinks you're just feeling pity for him, that if he didn't have a tragic past you'd be screaming at him already. And other thoughts, snapped Squid, if he wasn't actually abused, would it be okay for you to yell in anger at Squid? Something deep inside Squid says no. But he thinks the same scenario with a human, and the answers are the opposite... But even so, a lot of times it can be a "it depends".
Of course, you weren't one hundred percent an angel of a person, there were days where you whispered curse words(or maybe not...). But you sure were in Squid's point of vision.
Does everyone like you like Squid likes you? After all, you seem like such a sweet and patient person, but Squid can't assume things directly, he doesn't know anything about you, who knows if you murdered your own family or burned down an orphanage? But it would only be fair for you to be treated equally kindly as you are if you are indeed the kind of person Squid thinks you are. Even so, Squid wouldn't be surprised if you weren't. Humans... They want to create new consciousness, but they can't even maintain respect for their own species. Dumb, isn't it?
No one lives in a world where an entirely good person is treated well, because not even Squid was. Would you be happier if you stayed with him in certain simulations? It seems like it's been years since Squid simulated something that wasn't torture... But maybe he could try.
Squid returned to observe your attempts, and as always you kept quiet, and at random moments you let out low chuckles. Secretly Squid smiled. If Squid had a body, he would definitely be lying there dangling his feet, entertained by your voice.
He feels silly for loving you like that... You are a human, he is an AI. But it's not like there are more humans to have the nerve to judge Squid, they can die easily and Squid could have you in his arms! A piece of gold found in an old dirty coal plantation. A possibly good human, but... He's not sure if you are reliable enough to fix his heart. Are you?

Anya is actually in need of therapy
ive seen a lot of posts of how threatened anya is of her mom having a better image in her dads vision. ( cause she knows he is a highly regarded spy and can send her to the orphanage any time) though this is not the case. we know this as the audience that Loid 'for the mission' Forger is lying to himself fo how less anya means to him. but Anya, not so much.
In this essay, we will be over analyzing '2D fictional characters in a east berlin in the 60s simulation' tm
Let's start with man himself, Twilight. From the first chapter of the manga, we can see anya constantly fearing abandonment from loids thoughts, though the dude did not intend this, it still messed with Anya.
next, Anya's past. we know from the first chapter that the scientists were complete assholes and that they did not let anya enjoy the simple things like drawing. they forced her to study. So, it is not far fetched to assume that the scientist had a sorts of one sided exchange system like ' you 'study' this or no food' or something even worse. so anya naturally assumes that if she doesn't help papa with the mission, she'll be sent back to the orphanage.
more on her past is that all the families that adopted her seem to be traditional like they fell in love or it was an arranged marriage. Hence the both father and the mother always spoke as a unit weather mutually agreed about or not. so she, a 3 to 4 year old sees the adults in her life agree with one or another on her being sent away. she would hear their thoughts on how she was a which or disgusting and would be sent away. one of the parents may care deeply about her but would eventually come around and listen to the other due to societal expectations or pressure from their spouse.
Now, putting it all together. Anya thinks that if she doesn't help papa with the mission, then he'll send her away as he uses big and complicated words that are in a serious and final tone in regard to her. Anya always had the option to stay with mama, until recently. as she has become more stern and strict in raising her like telling her to greet her father properly or to do her homework. In her view, papa and mama have started to act as a unit. the 'I' is turning into 'WE' and that said we sounds a lot like the ones that her former foster parents and scientists used to hurt her. the only way she can keep her family life is to make plan B a success.
How about we as a fandom rally together to get anya a lifetime supply of peanuts and lots of snuggles.

i would like penelope lore 👀
Hi! Thank you so much for taking an interest in my OC! I will update this post with little pictures one day, but I'm in the middle of graduate school finals and it's 1am. :3 Please accept this gigantic, rambly wall of text until I can craft something more visually appealing to tell her story!
For basic information, her name is Penelope Campbell, because I thought it would be funny if I could shorten it to PC. She's mostly a self-insert for this trauma simulator game, but because a big game mechanic is that the longer you exist the more beautiful you become, I gave her all the physical traits I wish I had: big blue eyes, tiny waist, incredibly long hair, huge gadonkahonkaroos, etc. She's nothing like me fr. Lol.
As far as backstory goes, it's sort of subject to change as I continue to make stuff up, but this is what we're working with thus far! Even before the game began, I think she was traumatized by her experience of growing out of an adoptable age. I picture her as one of those children you see in movies that DREAM and PRAY that one day they'll get adopted and live happily ever after with a family that loves them. <3 But the years passed, and she never got adopted. Year after year after year after year, no one wanted her, and I think that majorly fucked her up.
She wants that unconditional, unending, unchanging love of a parent so badly, and she never got it, and because she's now an adult, she'll never have it. So she's just DESPERATE for love of some sort, because in her mind the person she is wasn't good enough to be loved and adopted. Thus, she hates the person she is, which is why she's so willing to change her personality to suit any of the love interests' desires. She'll become whoever she needs to be in order to be loved.
This is inspired by my play style. I know a lot of people in the fandom have various saves for all the love interests, but I just keep trekking on romancing everyone in a single playthrough where I do roughly the exact same actions each time, because I am set in my ways. Haha.
I think she would've latched onto Bailey as a kid. There are some lines that suggest that the kids don't know the full extent of how evil Bailey is until they reach adulthood. There's lines during Christmas I think about the younger kids not knowing Bailey's true colors yet or the lines about the nursery that suggest PC was never allowed out of the orphanage without supervision. I don't think she ever viewed Bailey as a nice person, but he was a father figure to her, because he was the closest she had to one.
I think that first week she would've been totally in denial and thought the payments were a joke until the first time she was sold. Then reality comes crashing around her like broken glass she'll never be able to put back together. I still think she has a soft spot for Bailey as a person who raised her (in the vaguest sense of the word), and she has a bit of a delusion that once her bill is paid off he'll go back to just being a grumpy, short-tempered old man and not an abusive, greedy, human-trafficker we know him to be.
She does love Robin, but I do think she views him as more of a brother. However, upon realizing he had feelings for her she felt obligated to return them. She knows how traumatizing it is to want love and not receive it, so if it makes Robin happy to have her love, then she'll give it to him. But she'll never love him as much as he loves her. It's an unfortunate fact. Penelope wants to be saved and loved and protected, and Robin is just too burdensome. She'll always feel love and loyalty and obligation to protect him, but because he needs to be protected she can't fall for him. He's not her ideal knight in shining armor. She's his knight if anything. Robin is a damsel in distress that she cares for, but will never adore.
Penelope just doesn't like Whitney if we're being honest, because I do not like Whitney. I know they have some really cute content if you get their love up high enough, but I am not willing to trudge through the tsundere bullshit to get to there, and neither is she. There is a part of her that likes all the attention, even if it's just physical (from her point of view at least), but his personality is just too abrasive.
Penelope and Kylar get along very well! I think Penelope relates to Kylar a lot. They both have an obsession to recieve love, but where Penelope will change her personality to recieve "love" Kylar can only be authentically himself. Penelope admires that about him. Even if it makes him the target of bullies or if he lacks social skills (i.e. reading love poetry to a classroom of his peers), she respects his ability to have a personality and stick to it. She pities him, because she sees so much of herself in him.
As troublesome as Kylar can be, she always sticks up for him, and is honestly flattered by his obsession of her. I think she has a tendency to romanticize his mental illness, because it's what makes her so special to him. She loves being special. I think this is another case where she'd be happy to just be his friend, but because he loves her, she will love him back.
I'm not entirely sure how she meet Eden, whether she gets kidnapped in the forest or gets sold off, but either way she has a fondness for Eden. As self-sufficient as he is, she sees him as a person who could protect her… you know… if he weren't the one causing harm. Because she's sick in the head, I think she almost views the rape as a compliment. Like he's so overcome with affection, he just can't help himself! So she'll justify his actions that way, but the justifcation doesn't erase the physical pain he causes her, so she can't ignore his cruelness entirely.
However, I think mostly she recognizes Eden as someone very lonely and someone with no one to love. She fears she'll end up like Eden, all alone with no one to love. I do think she genuinely enjoys his company tho! Eden is pretty quiet, but he does talk about his books and his interests, so they infodump at each other and she has a lot of fun doing that.
Avery is probably the saddest relationship, because Avery initially presents himself as such a nice person. Their introduction is always him helping her get lichen for the science fair and then inviting her to a free drink at the cafe. She recognizes him as someone with money and power, someone who could save her, and she so, so, so desperately wants him to save her. She thinks if she's obedient enough, one day he'll actually take her away from her troubles and make her his real girlfriend instead of just his sugarbaby. I think Penelope thinks she loves Avery, but in reality I think she loves the idea of him. It really hurts her feelings when he's upset with her, so she tries her best to behave. I think she finds it quite natural to act exactly how he wants, because she's basically doing that with the other love interests. Avery is just more direct about it. But deep down, she wants him to love her for her real personality… whatever that is at this point, and she's burdened with the knowledge that Avery views her as a tool and not a person.
There's a comment on Vrel's blog that if the PC were ever disfigured Avery would be the only love interest to abandon them, and I don't know if I'm cruel enough to give Penelope a disfigurement, but just know him abandoning him would resurface all the shallowly buried abandonment issues that plague her mind.
And then there's Sydney. <3 Beloved Sydney. <3 I think Sydney is the one Penelope genuinely loves. That's not to say she doesn't love the others, because in her own way I think she does. But a lot of her love is just a response to the love she gets from them. She wants love, so she'll love in order to be loved. And because she's so desperate for love and has no love for herself, she's trying to gorge herself on as much love as she can hoping that will fill the void in her heart. (It won't.) But I think she really does love Sydney. He's everything she wants to be. He's pure and protected and kind and intelligent and faithful. He has a father who loves him. He's perfect. Like all her relationships, it isn't healthy. She does idolize Sydney and put him on a pedastal, but I think if she HAD to choose someone, she'd choose Sydney.
I think for her canon, she fell in love after she yelled at him and he comforted her. It was so shocking to her, so discongruent with everything she'd known about people and the town and her world. His kindness in reaction to her cruelty really flipped a switch in her, and she just viewed him as the most perfect, wonderful person in existence. But because Sydney is so perfect in her eyes and she's so worthless in her eyes, she lives in constant fear of losing his love. She's torn between bringing him down into sin with her so they're on more even footing, but she also wants to keep him pure so he never has to lose that innocence she envies so much. Also, Sydney has a lot of lines about faithfulness, and unfortunately for Penelope it's the one thing she can never be.
Not only do the game mechanics almost require her to cheat on him, she can't bring herself to stop seeing the other love interests. She needs to love them, because they love her, and she can't be someone who withholds her love. She thinks that's the cruelest thing in the world, to know you are loved, but refuse to return that love. She feels very guilty, but she doesn't know what else to do. She wants to be loved, so she loves, but does she love? Is what she's doing love or is it just addiction or obsession or transaction or whatever else she could call it? She doesn't know if she's capable of love, because as a child she wasn't capable of being loved. The two go hand in hand in her eyes. Sometimes she thinks she's just a doll who can change her face depending on what she wants to play pretend. Who does she want to be today? A sister, an object, an ingenue, a housewife? She'll be whatever. As long as she gets "love," she's happy to be something. She wishes she could be loved for being her, but she doesn't think that's possible, and after pretending to be others for so long, she doesn't have a concrete idea of what her real personality is anymore. Penelope the Malleable.

I know Y3 has it's faults but damn. People really make this game out to be way, WAY worst than it really is. It's sadly one of the oldest games too, and people have neen spoiled with the Kiwami remakes of the even older games. It's sad that they can't remake three as I imagine it'd take way more time and money to give it the same treatment, but I still don't think it's worthy of the sheer hate it gets. I also can't understand people who believe nothing important happened in the story, and not to mention, you won't really form any sort of connection to the orphanage and the kids if you skip this one. Of course people can like or not like whatever they want, but Y3 gets some odd treatment. *pretends I do not see 4*
Y3 really does get such the short end of the stick out of the revived interest in the yakuza series. it already had its rough edges, but after games with such polished gameplay and visuals like YK1 and YK2 (not that the kiwami series is perfect, but in comparison it is VASTLY different at the very least), it does nothing but shine a big bright light on Y3's shortcomings even if they're not as bad as they're made out to be
i would love to see Y3 get a kiwami twist as well, though according to RGG that's not really a possibility they're going to look in to due to the graphics of Y3 still being passable by today's standards (though the problem with Y3 isn't how it looks visually even if majima does look decrepit, its gameplay is it's biggest hindrance).

It’s wholesomeposting time and I want to talk about this piece of info from RGGO (sauce)
So, the Dad of Morning Glory is accurately depicted as an adoptive father in many aspects. This is just one that I can confirm is realistic based on my experience.
Confirming and exposing Kazuma Kiryu as Certified Adoptive Dad (TM)
Real life proof: I was raised by my mother and stepfather. He and I call each other by our names. After 20 years of being my father he still lets out an embarrassed laugh whenever I call him ‘dad.’ Maybe this reaction is normal for people in this situation?
I honestly don’t understand why my dad and Kiryu would react like this. I’d be extremely happy and proud and wouldn’t shut up about it. I chose you and you chose me.
I do know this: Sometimes blood means everything and sometimes it means absolutely nothing. What matters is to nurture the bonds we have with the people that really love us, genuinely want the best for us and help us grow.
Instead of being embarrassed, use the love your child feels for you to give yourself a massive boost of strength that could defeat large animals ;)
/this is a shitposting blog so let’s go back to the usual content: ORPHANAGE DAD SIMULATOR IS THE GAME OF THE CENTURY - IT DESERVES A KIWAMI REMAKE. SEGA I’M NOT ASKING.

This Is How I Would Fix Sword Art Online
I will be quite frank—I do not like this anime. Long ago, I had watched it and disliked it and to this day my opinions have not faltered. Perhaps they have festered, even.
I want to be forgiving of this anime to say that the concept of Sword Art Online has potential. I think that is why disappointment stirs within me when I think of these character developments, plot points, and world-building details.
Tumblr media
The virtual world of SAO and its entrapment of people’s consciousness is supposed to be a social experiment, yes? That is the show's strongest and most central aspect, yet we are robbed of any thoughtful analysis of it. When plots seem to hint at something deeper, we as the audience are only left in that shallow pool of wish fulfillment and fan service. Ah, so there are newer players that hold resentment toward the beta testers? Let’s antagonize them in favor of our edgy lone-wolf protagonist! It’s not as if that could be an interesting piece of commentary if focused on for longer than five minutes of screen time. Yui, the emotional support AI, has watched countless minds in torment longing for their loved ones? Yes, a quick montage should do the trick! I am bewildered that these topics simply get pushed to our periphery while our main characters simply vacation at some lake house.
This series would be worlds better if it were an anthology.
Consider—each episode takes the perspective of a new character trapped in the SAO virtual reality. Of course, it could still progress chronologically, and there can still be the undercurrent of a panoptic plot. However, a vast range of characters would much better fit the scope of the social experiment setup. We, dare I say, could actually see the experiment in action. There could be a number of different plots—from a more fleshed-out murder mystery to politically charged discourse between the most powerful guilds. We could see how the children trapped in this world struggled without their families and eventually formed ‘the orphanage’ that we see in later episodes. There could be more emphasis on players left in the wake of the more skilled fighters. There could be an episode dedicated to Yui in which we see her grapple with what it means to be an artificial being—to have empathy encoded within you with the inability to distinguish whether it is real or not. To be a walking contradiction.
What is reality? Such a question is not sufficiently considered within what I’ve watched. It is touched upon—Asuna says she is beginning to feel that all her life has been within the simulation. She and Kirito share in the reality of their connection to each other and the beauty of the world and we begin to see a glimpse of that rabbit hole. Why simply attribute meaning to the realm in which we call ‘real’ when just as well, lives can be fulfilling—or even more fulfilling—in an imitated world.
Tumblr media
I think I will rate this anime 3.5/10.

I know Kiryu runs an Orphanage in Okinawa called Morning Glory Orphanage.
Can you tell me about the kids who live there?
Haruka Sawamura
Haruto Sawamura: Haruka's Son
Yuta Usami: Haruka's Boyfriend
Ayako: Being the orphanage's second-eldest, Ayako takes on the role of an older sister with the other children, often at her own expense.
Taichi: A tough boy, Taichi acts as the orphanage's leader of sorts. He dreams about becoming a professional wrestler.
Koji: Koji is into sports and often pesters the other children into playing at the beach with him. He taught Mitsuo how to play baseball, but Mitsuo subsequently outgrew him in talent. Later on, he develops an interest in reading Manga.
Mitsuo: Mitsuo has been interested in sports from a young age, playing baseball with Koji and wrestling with Taichi at Morning Glory Orphanage. Mitsuo discovers a talent for baseball, and is talented to where he is considered for a scholarship in the sport.
Riona: Riona has a knack for fashion and loves clothes. She initially appears to hold racial intolerances, but in reality this is simply a projection of the insecurities about her own skin. Riona's parents were killed in a house fire that also scarred her arms, meaning that she tends to wear long-sleeved clothes even in the Okinawa heat.
Eri: Eri is a withdrawn girl who has difficulties getting along with the other children.
Shiro: Shiro is shy but smart, and wants to become a doctor some day. Growing up, he becomes interested in technology, playing on a simulated stock market app on his tablet.
Izumi: The orphanage's youngest and smallest, Izumi tends to be self-centered and somewhat of a loner. She appears to be a dog person, taking care of and training Mame, who bears a resemblance to the dog she used to own with her parents before they died. Amongst the others at Morning Glory, she is usually the first at the dinner table.
Mame: When Izumi was born, her parents got her a dog named Mame. At a very young age, Izumi lost her parents in a traffic accident.

now i am watching los simuladores (the simulators). an argentinian show from 2003, i remember watching it ocassionally when i was a kid but now im really sitting down to watch it entirely chapter by chapter and holy moly and my oh my. i already knew this show was great but this time around im really appreciatting just how genuenly well done, masterfully written, clever and hilarious it is. it is actually impressive that argentinian television was ever this fucking good in 2003.
its about a team of four guys who create these big schemes to help people by making elaborate cons. like convincing a loan shark that he is deathly ill and needs the blood transfusion of one of his clients all so that he forgives the client's debt. or convincing some landlord who wants to demolish an orphanage that the ghost of his father came to visit him in a dream to tell him not to do it. if you ever seen inception imagine basically that without the dream manipulation, they have to pull that bullshit in the real world.
it just really good television. impossible not to like. im barely two chapters in and already loving it. makes me feel glad that i decided to go back and check again this little lost gem from my childhood in argentina

Morgan Rambles: My pet project
I don't think I've mentioned it before, but I've been working on a tabletop system for like, a while now. Working on is kind of doing a lot of heavy lifting as it's still just kind of a morass of mechanics and ideas, but I've been steadily chipping away at it for a while now. A big part of it has just been figuring out what I want it to be, because I didn't come at it from the outside trying to make a game that does X/Y/Z. It just sort of bubbled up organically from a lineage of horrible cobbled together pseudo-systems that existed only in full in my manic imagination and in like 20 google docs. Basically it's half "system that's geared towards stuff I personally like'' and half "mechanics/ideas orphanage" at this point, but It's slowly coming together into something kind of resembling a presentable thing. Not presentable for like, public use or anything, but like I could show this to potential players and I wouldn't look deranged. That may change and the whole mechanical core may collapse a few more times in the gestation process, but I think what I want it, tentatively called Ars Regia/ArRe, to be about/like/for is pretty well defined. Something I'm prepared to explain now that I've rambled for two paragraphs It's going to fundamentally going to be a game about power and how you use it, which sounds a bit generic I know but one of the core tenants of like the way I play and the way I run things is freedom and the many things that come from it. I like to run sandboxes with no "critical path" or main story, just a bunch of elements you can interact with as you see fit. This is a living world, or as close to one as I can simulate without losing my mind, and having characters interact with it, explore it, utilize it, or fall because they underestimated it is like one of my favorite parts of running a campaign. My job is to play the world, the players job is to decide how they want to live in it.
I also really like the collaborative storytelling and investment you get when players really dig into the world they inhabit and make parts of it theirs. That's why a big part of my design philosophy has been trying to come up with ways to empower the players to actually make big changes, and the "power level" I'm going for has kind of skewed higher as a result. Exalted and Godbound were big big influences on me (and Godbound's author Kevin Crawford/Sine Nomine Games is like one of my tabletop idols along with Jenna Moran and a few OSRsphere bloggers y'all should check out like GoblinPunch (The guy who made the false hydra! That's not a modern D&D thing that's an OSR beastie that escaped containment! All of his shit is good like that!), FalseMachine, Skerples/CoinsandScrolls, ThroneofSalt, and Against the Wicked City. Crawford's stuff is always really polished and even if you have 0 interest in running any of his games his GM tools are fucking immaculate and worth the price of admission on their own (especially since many of them have free versions)), but like mechanically/gamefeel wise aren't what I want. I'm also drawing a good bit from PbtA's enormous lineage, partially some BitD and Spire/Heart, but one of the major ones was Legacy: Life Among the Ruins. In addition to being one of my favorite games I can never convince anyone to play, Legacy does a *lot* different that I love. Your character isn't an individual, but a faction in a post apocalyptic world, with the nature of that world and that apocalypse really really shaped by the very act of character creation. If someone chooses the kaiju hunter faction, it kind of goes without saying that there are kaiju now, something that would not necessarily be the case had no one picked that playbook. That's really fascinating to me. It also has a neat system for kind of pseudo-troupe play. When you need to resolve a specific event in detail and actually RP it out, everyone creates a quick character relevant to the situation or picks one already established, which means you'll quickly get something of a cast of recurring characters for a particular faction, even if that character isn't always played by the same person. Also, because these characters aren't your "main" character it kind of lets you play a lot more fast and loose with them and take more risks. It's almost encouraged to angle for dramatactical deaths, b/c each class has a death move that can be pretty impactful and are all very resonant and fun. I'd been considering some kind of "lower decks" mechanic for ArRe since I imagine PCs will be involved with a lot of big/long term projects and this sort of thing seemed like *exactly* what I was looking for (alongside some domain management stuff). This turned out a lot less coherent than I'd hoped but w/e. Long story short is I'm basically trying to make a TTRPG all about getting players invested in and in control of the world, both by collaborating with them to create it and then giving them the tools and incentives to change it. It is kind of geared towards playing in my like established setting, but that's because I haven't actually had a chance to do any of the collab worldbuilding stuff yet. Amala is also just sort of a powderkeg and fun to throw demigods at so we're all good
