I have never written more than 22k in a month before...

I also want to thank those of you who reached out after my little vent in the tags post. Feeling invisible isn't about the comments/kudos/reblogs, for me, it's about feeling like you belong to the community (which makes it fun), and it just has felt really...not there for me lately. I'm trying to just move on and enjoy it as best as I can - special shoutout to @lightqueer. You know why.

The most powerful natural archon, star archons are exceptionally rare. The souls that can ascend to this level are extremely rare, but each one is a gifted strategist and tactician, and guides the armies of archons in the goal of defending reality from fiends and monsters. Gifted with incredible insight and immense magical power, they have ensured some level of safety and security for mortal beings in their endless battles against demons, devils, and all other manner of existential threats.

Each one has a unique appearance, though they universally appear to be made out of solidified light, though they can choose if they actually shed light. If they light up while flying, the glow concentrates itself on the archon's hands and feet, seemingly almost as the source of their flight, though they are capable of flying even while dark. Each one uses an unusual design weapon to fight, a metal ring with blades along its exterior and a bar across the center of the ring for the archon to hold. Known as a star knife, this weapon may have been originally created by the star archons, and its design is starting to appear among mortal populations that have encountered one of these great celestial beings.

This is going to be my last regular 5th edition conversion, and it's a pretty solid stat block to go out on. While I may have grown tired of some of 5e's mechanics and style, and disagreed with many of WotC's decisions both in design and general activities, I have enjoyed the years of playing and creating for this game. This was not an easy decision, but it's one that I don't regret. Thank you everyone for following along and enjoying my work. I hope that you stick around for my transition into Pathfinder 2e, the system looks very up my alley and my practice stat blocks are coming along nicely. It may be a little bit while I get my full bearings with the system, but it has so many opportunities to explore monster creation, and I'm looking forward to more.

I drove a 22000 pound utilimaster step van that was 22 feet long. For many years every day as if I lived in the thing. I could make it do tricks and shit it was easier to back in into spaces with a quarter inch of space at 10mph than it was breathing. I think I can handle a semi with the proper training quite easily and that's what i'm gonna do.

So i sent in my college apps last Thursday (to my dream school and another good but back up option) and I heard back from my good but back up today which was a shockingly quick turn around time but I got in, got a scholarship for 5500 a year totalling to 22000 (basically a year of free tuition) and got invited to the honors college there. Big sad tho cause I don't hear back from my top choice until after winter break (essentially january). But they have a more lenient acceptance rate than my back up so basically I'm golden. I still gotta do music school audition stuff tho which is the scary part cause auditions is where shit gets words more selective cause it's not only competing with incoming students it's competing with current students of the school that didn't make it in the first time around.

Christmas Eve

This year I've found myself mid-experience, thinking how many more opportunities I will have to do just this again. Often in that moment, I feel like I'm unable to express enough gratitude for the opportunity. This becomes a guilt, but, not a strong enough guilt for myself to then act in another way.

See, I strive to look forward. The past, well, I've viewed it as having little to gleam - I can't alter that past. Potentially, I first developed this way of thinking playing chess. The future - these possibilities are endless.

And with this forward thought, well, I don't believe I'm doing my future self a service. Right now, I am utilizing my time with activities I enjoy. Each piece here, I believe will add compounding value when I want to make time for review.

Let's say we each have 60 years ahead of us - 22,000 sunsets. There's only so many marathons my body will be able to handle. There's bicycle routes I rode this year that I'll probably never ride again. The remaining amount of hours I'll spend with my Grandma before we're gone is a fraction from a week of my childhood summer.

I know you normally don't really ask this but how much did you pay for the Merch you got? I mean the birthday (I think it's birthday?) merch costs alone around 70€ plus all the fees. Must have been Hella expensive. (idk how it is for you but I paid triple the price with an unexpected amount custom cost of 25€ for one CD)

Ok, I was sort of debating whether to answer this because on some of my merch posts in the past, I've had a couple of people make comments about my financial situation which honestly kind of upset me bit.

However I'm going to assume this is being asked in good faith so I will answer honestly under the cut.

So please bare in mind, I did not pay for all of the items I ordered at once, I ordered the rings back in November last year, I ordered Shin's birthday set in February and then I ordered the other stands about a month ago and only paid for shipping and customs fees this week (curse you customs fees).

The total price of the items came to around 22000 JPY (£137 or €161), with the majority of that being Shin's birthday set (8800 JPY (£55)) and the two rings ( 7700 JPY (£48))

Honestly the shipping and customs fees ended up being a lot more expensive than I'd hoped/thought they'd be (along with the proxy fees they came to around £140, i.e. they effectively doubled the price of the items) but by the time you've bought the items you're a bit stuck (I will be eating pasta and eggs for the foreseeable future) .

Now, for anyone reading all of this who's now thinking "holy shit you're rich"... please don't. I've had one or two comments like that in the past and I know some other merch collectors have gotten them as well, and like, no matter how benign your intentions, you really shouldn't be commenting on other people's financial status at all, but especially not on their own post when you know they will then be able to see it.

I'm not going to lie and say collecting merch from Japan is cheap (and I feel like the price has gone up quite a bit in the last couple of months in terms of shipping) and I recognise I'm very lucky to be in a financial position to be able to do it but I am certainly not rich. The reason I can afford this sort of stuff is because I do part-time work on top of my actual work (which is also in part why I've been so absent from this blog lately), the only dependents I have are my orchids and I'm generally pretty money conscious when it comes to everything else.

So yeah, in the grand scheme of things, I'm well aware that I'm extremely lucky to have any sort of disposable income but having a small amount of disposable income doesn't make you rich and really should be the minimum if you're working full-time (I know it isn't, but it should be, and we can blame the people who are really rich for the fact it isn't).

There are a lot of things I personally cannot and will probably never be able to do because I doubt I will ever be in a position where I'll be able to afford them (like buying a house or having kids or, to be honest, even having a dog) and that's the reason why I really don't want people commenting things like "you must be rich". My life is and will continue to be incredibly constrained by money and if I like to give myself the illusion of freedom by periodically buying bits of plastic with Shin's face on them, then that's up to me.

Apologies that this last part has gotten so long winded but in light of talking about finances, I kind of wanted to explain why I personally don't want strangers making comments about my theoretical wealth and I doubt any other merch collectors do either.

Also Anon, I understand you're likely just curious so please don't think this is directed at you, I just didn't want to answer with a lump sum and then risk getting any more comments like the sort I've discussed above. I hope you have a good day!

My Year In Review: My Writing

Last year I saw some of my favourite writers do a summary of their own year and decided I wanted to do that too. So I was determined to write as much as possible, and even though 2021 was a busy year for me in my personal life, I managed to write a lot. I could not necessarily write as much as I planned according to my original goals because I was supposed to have more free time after getting my degree and before starting to work, but life got in the way, and that could be sensed in my writing as well. Or lack thereof.

I published 8 fics and wrote a total of 93144 words that were published.

Of course, not including my thesis, which is not fanfiction or fiction, even though I was a fan of my topic, which I spent plenty of time on. I also got that little smudge in front of my name, which I'm proud of, but to earn that the process took the life out of me. Almost literally...

I participated in 5 fests this year.

I had to suspend work indefinitely on my fic I was the most excited about, which means there are more than 22000 words that wait to be continued, as I didn't even reach the finish of the introduction part of the story. So if I ever finish it, this will be a long one. Or at least long in my interpretation.

My longest and most well-received work is a WIP, and my second shortest fic is the second in terms of hits and kudos. The ones I expected to perform well... well... they did not. 🤣

That clearly indicates I have a lot to work on my writing. And on creating cover art or mood boards, which ugh... I deeply detest.

But back to writing, as I don't have a beta, I highly appreciate any comments or constructive criticism. If you have something to say about my writing, I'm all ears. If you are shy but would like to say something, my asks are open even to anons. I always appreciate any kind of feedback.
