Xavier has been changing lately, and not for the better. Your worries are confirmed once you find him in his art studio, exhausted, wounded, and needing some attention.

The second the bell rings, Xavier jumps up, shoving everything in his backpack before hurrying away. You let out a sigh, slowly packing your stuff before following the rest of your class out of the way. Xavier has been acting strange lately. He would send you every single excuse to not come over, insisting that he is tired or that he has to study. You do not blame him for this though; you noticed. You noticed how the bags under his eyes got darker, how it seemed like his energy got lower each day, and how he stopped talking to everyone around him. Not even Ajax could get a word out of him.

But just because you understood, it doesn't mean that you aren't worried. It has been weeks since you had your weekly hang-out with Xavier. You miss him, you miss how he used to be. You have been meaning to find him to ask him how he really is doing, yet he always seems to disappear the second you get close.

Your walk through Ophelia Hall was quiet. It seems like everyone else went to chill in the Quad or maybe even went to Jericho. Your mind is too full to go out and have fun, no matter how much you would want to. No one knows what Xavier is going through, yet everyone agrees that he needs help.

Time goes by as you sit in the Quad again, eating dinner with others. You see the faces of most of your friends, but one is missing. Has Xavier not shown up for dinner either? You grab an extra few containers of food, stuffing it in your tote bag before heading off to his dorm.

You knew that it has been rough for him to suddenly not have a roommate anymore. Rowan had been expelled for some weird reason, leaving Xavier alone in his room. You knock on the wooden door, the bag heavy on your shoulders.

Nothing.

No shuffling, no voices, nothing.

After going to his dorm, you check the Quad again, maybe you missed him. But, he still isn't there. You checked if he was at the Archery training field, but there is no sign of Xavier everywhere. You even entered the Nightshade library to see if he was hiding in there, but you were only met with an empty room.

Wait, what if he is in his art studio?

You sling the tote bag back over your shoulder, gripping your jacket tight as you exit through the Nevermore gates and into the woods.

Not a lot of people enter the woods that lie next to the school, but it just so happens to be Xavier his favorite place. He had turned an old shack into his own personal art studio, filled with paint, canvasses, easels, and sketches. It was his place, one that he didn't need to share with anyone. But lucky for you, he does share it with you.

The path slowly gets more narrow the closer you get to the shed. It is hidden in the middle of the woods. People that enter it, would not go nearly as far as where the shed is located. After pushing the bushes to the side, you see it. He has to be here.

You get closer and closer to the small, wooden building and you notice that the chains around the door have been unlocked. A-ha.

"Xavier?" You knock on the door. "I brought you food? I didn't see you at dinner, so-"

The door abruptly opens, revealing your friend. He quickly takes your hand, pulling you inside before closing the door behind you, locking it with yet another lock.

"Why are you here?"

"You weren't at dinner," you repeat. "I don't want my best friend to starve."

You hold up your white bag with a small smile. This has been the most that Xavier has talked to you in a while. You take some of the containers out of your bag.

"Thank you, but I'm not hungry."

You stop in your tracks, looking up at the tall boy as you furrow your eyebrows. Xavier, not hungry? That did not happen often. Especially considering he didn't eat at all today. You place the small container that you were holding on his table before letting out a sigh.

"Okay, but I also came here for something else. What happened?"

It is his turn to be confused now.

"You look like you haven't been sleeping, I have not seen you eat at breakfast, lunch or dinner, you don't talk to anyone as you always disappear."

He stays quiet, staring at a splotch of paint on the floor. He can't openly talk about his feelings. For as long as he can remember, he has hidden whatever problem he had, making sure that it wouldn't reach the masses of people that looked up to his father. What would he say if he knew that Xavier had problems?

You notice his silence as you step closer to him, yet still, make sure there is enough distance. You know about his struggles, even though he doesn't talk a lot about his father. His eyes are still fixated on the ground.

"All I want to say is that you don't have to tell me anything specific. All I would like to hear is if there is something going on, a simple yes or no. No specifics, no names, nothing. I'm just worried about you and I want you to know that it's okay to feel bad-"

That is all he needed to hear.

Those words are all it took for him to crumble, throwing himself in your arms as he pulls you close, his grip tight around your frame. You are fast to respond, wrapping your own arms around him as you run your hands up and down his back. His head is resting on your head as the rest of his body is shaking. You can even feel his chin trembling.

"Xavier?"

You slowly guide him to the big chair that rests in the corner of his studio, still holding him close. Once he sits, you slowly untangle yourself from him, though still holding on to his hands.

"Hey, you're fine. I'm here, okay?"

He doesn't dare look up, his eyes filled with tears and his hands still shaking. It hurts to see him like this. So sad and helpless, and you have no idea what you can do for him. On his neck are also scratches, looking red and irritated.

"You do not have to tell me anything, just... Just know that you can."

You hand him the containers of food. Xavier takes it, muttering a soft 'thank you' before slowly taking a bite of the pasta. You made sure to take everything that you know he loves.

"I can clean up those wounds for you," you offer, your hands already in your bag to grab your water bottle and napkin.

He only nods as he sits still, slowly taking bites of the food as you wipe away some of the blood from the scratches.

"I'm sorry."

You look at him, stopping your movements. He's sorry?

"I should have talked to you," he whispers. "I have been an asshole, and I should have just been normal and-"

"Hey, hey, hey! Don't blame yourself," you smile at him. "I have just been worried, that's all."

A tear rolls down his cheeks before he angrily wipes it away.

"The nightmares came back," he mumbles. "I haven't slept normally in days. It has been horrible and there is nothing I can do about it. And- and Kinbott told me to paint what my dreams were. Paint them to get them out of my head."

You nod understandingly, your hand resting on his knee.

"And I did. I drew that horrible thing-" he points to a canvas hidden in the back of the studio. "Over and over again. Some monster. And then, the second I wasn't looking, it came out of the painting. Scratched me good."

So not only has he been stuck in a literal nightmare, but he also has gotten attacked by whatever it was.

"You know what," you stand up, your hand reaching out to him. "Let's take the food, go to one of our dorms, and watch a movie. If you want."

It is the least you can do to try and cheer him up. He looks up at you, slightly confused. You are not yelling at him, blaming him for being upset, for ignoring you for days in a row. You... understand.

He closes the container, taking your hand with a smile before pushing himself up as well.

Luckily, no one had seen you as you sneaked behind Xavier. You were not supposed to be in their dorms, especially not at this time. But you didn't care. Xavier needs you.

You sit him down on the bed before placing the laptop down on his nightstand.

"You pick something, okay?"

Xavier smiles before nodding, quickly picking a movie as you open up some of the food containers, handing them to your friend. He had barely eaten today.

You sit down next to him, taking off your sweater before scooting closer to him. Xavier his mood has been improving rapidly already. He is not alone in this big, dark room anymore. He has you.

After half the movie, he finished his food, placing the empty containers on the floor before slowly wrapping his arm around you. You let out a giggle, moving a bit closer to him. You have been dancing around each other for a while now. It was pretty well known that you liked each other.

Another part of the movie passes as Xavier his eyes slowly start drooping. His tiredness is catching up to him, and being in a warm and comfortable bed surely helps in making him more tired. Awake one moment, asleep the next.

A smile is on your face once you see him sleeping. He deserves it. It has been a while. You press a kiss on his temple, snuggling closer to him as you pull the blanket over you both.

Hopefully, it helped him. Even if just a bit.

“Contest?” She hands me the flier in her hand.

“What is this, why are you showing me this?”

“It’s Saturday.” Leliana says, smirking.

“Maker, is it really? I haven’t been able to keep track of days since the boat ride. Then there was the month’s training, then there were the weeks on horseback-”

“Sorry to spring this on you, Zena, but I paid good money for your training, and I’d love to see my future assassin at work.”

“Aren’t I supposed to go by Florence now?”

“Fatine.”

“Who are Bianca and Varric?”

“Bianca is the biggest crossbow you’ve ever seen. And Varric is a dwarf whose aim is worse than a blind man’s.”

“I don’t have my bow.”

“It’s a good thing then, that I have it right here,” She picks up the bow she had strapped across her back. It is my bow. Damn. “I know you are nervous, Zena, but the stakes are low. What are wooden targets to a trained killer?”

“I don’t normally shoot for an audience.”

“Oh come now, Zena, that’s quite enough of this whining!” I chuckle, begrudgingly rising from my seat.

“When is this competition?” 

“Any minute now.”

“Maker!”

She leads me outside to a corner of the Skyhold fortress. There are people of the Inquisition milling about, sharing mugs of ale and chattering amongst themselves. Three or four have formed a line, bows drawn and warming up to compete. 

Leliana gently nudges the bow into my hands, and I take my place with the competitors.

“Hello everyone,” a dwarf with strawberry blonde braids steps forward, attempting to address the crowd, to no avail. “Hello all! Hey, hi,” the murmuring diminishes. “Thank you all for coming out to our archery contest! It’s good to build camaraderie by showing support for each other,” she says, teeming with nerves and excitement, “And to have some fun now and then!” She smiles giddily at her own joke, but the others remain quiet, unsure how to react. I clap. She looks over, startled, but appreciative for the awkward solidarity. Others join in for a round of applause.

“May the best archer win! If all competitors could take their place we’ll get under way shortly,” a few more people step forward from the crowd with their bows. “Oh, and thank you to our Spymaster Leliana for judging today! Thank you!” 

Leliana steps forward to explain the rules. She is clearly not half as into the whole camaraderie and support thing as the host. 

We will go in the order we arrived in (I’ll go fifth), and whoever scores the lowest each round (does the worst job hitting the bullseye) will be eliminated. First round I hit the closest ring to the center, gaining some murmurs of approval. Some, but not many, did just as well, many did worse. One Dalish elf got a bullseye, leading to roaring cheers and applause, and some eye-rolls from their competition. 

After some rounds we were down to seven people. The Antivan kid in front of me nocks his arrow, beginning to draw,  when I hear an-

“Oi!” The boy jumps, loosing his arrow into a wall, narrowly missing some spectators. I turn my head to see who just called out. 

She’s an elf with her blonde hair cropped short to her jaw, a sight I would normally find unladylike if my own hair wasn’t shaved to the scalp for ease in combat. She couldn’t be older than 22, but she dresses how my five-year-old would dress herself. A bright red tunic with the ugliest plaid breeches you’ve ever seen. 

“Am I late to the party?” She calls out, all eyes on her. Leliana rolls her eyes. 

“We’re halfway through the match,” the hostess says, visibly frustrated, “but, this is all just for fun,” a reminder more for herself than anyone else. “Sure, Sera, you may take your place among the others.”

“Thanks, Harding,” She says, satisfied. She looks for a place to go, then squeezes between me and the Antivan. “So was that your turn, or…?” She says to the boy.

“I should hope not!” 

“No, child, that was not your turn.” Leliana reassures him. He goes again, his arrow landing toward the outside of the target, his confidence shaken. 

Then it was Sera’s turn. In one fell swoop she grabbed an arrow, drew it back, then fired with no hesitation. It hits the dead center of the target. 

“Shit!” A man behind us swears, the competitors erupting in anger.

“Oh you lot are gonna have to get used to this. The real challenge has entered the game!”

I know this is all in good fun, but fuck her.

“May I go now?” I say to Sera, still standing in front of the target. She whips around to face me, looking shaken. Her expression warps into one of amusement, a corner of her mouth lifting.

“Sorry, my lady. Don’t let me keep ya.” She bows out of the way. I sigh, drawing back the bow. I close one eye, my tongue sticking out in ugly concentration. I fire. Mine hits the bullseye too. The crowd celebrates, cheering and jeering. I can’t help but grin to myself as I head to the back of the line. Sera is glaring at me, a mixture of intrigue and bitterness in her face. 

“Looks like you’re going to be trouble for me, lady.” I laugh.

“And you, me.”

“I’m Sera.”

“I know. I’m Fatine.” 

For every perfect hit Sera got, I was somewhere between good and great. But I stayed in the game, and so, of course, did she. When it was down to three, I matched her bullseye again, leaving us as the final two. By this time, a very large crowd had gathered, waiting with baited breath to see if I (the mysterious and sexy underdog) would beat Sera (Sera). I managed to keep up with her move by move, but she was effortless in her perfect strikes. My turns took concentration, hesitation, and thought. I moved slow. But she smugly watched me strategize each of my moves. Her certainty that she was going to win pissed me off, even though yes. She would probably win. Miraculously, I kept up with her for over ten agonizing rounds. Swiftly she draws the arrow and fires. It hits to the left of the bullseye. The crowd is in shambles.

“Fuck! God damn it! I don’t friggin’ care about this bullshit anyway. Fuck it!” Sera is swearing up a storm. 

“Now, now you haven’t lost yet! Pull yourself together, woman,” I coo at her, placing a hand on her shoulder. She looks at me with her big puppy-dog eyes, her mouth agape. I lift my other hand and gently raise her chin, shutting her trap.

“Now let’s see how this all turns out, why don’t we. Hm?”

“Argh!” She swings to the side. As I nock my arrow, I wonder if it’s even worth winning. She’s so mad at herself right now it’s pitiful. But there is a lesson to be learned from this– life is full of disappointments, after all. I draw back, steady myself, and fire. My most beautifully symmetrical shot yet. People yell and cheer, jumping up and down, celebrating how the Mighty has fallen. Sera simply slumps her shoulders and lowers her gaze.

“You did good, Sera!” I call out as she walks away. She pretends not to hear me. 

“We have a winner! Congratulations, Fatine!” Scout Harding proclaims. I lock eyes with Leliana, and she gives me a nod of approval, a twinkle of pride and mischief in her eyes.

“Everybody raise a glass!” The bard sings out, ferociously strumming an old Tevinter tune in the winner’s honor. 

The tavern comes alive after dark, the glee from the competition still fresh in the air.  People were finally drunk enough to start dancing, I watch as they pair up and start swinging each other around. No one knows this dance in this part of Thedas. I stay at my same seat in the corner, challenging myself to finish a bottle of wine alone.

“Are you going to drink this bottle alone?” A young man with dark skin and a mustache says to me. 

“If I don’t, it won’t be for lack of trying.”

“Mind if I assist?” He takes a seat across from me. His accent means he’s a ‘vint as well, and it’s clear he came from money. Some magister’s son, probably.

“You can imagine my surprise when I heard the winner was from Tevinter as well, there aren’t many of us around here.”

“Indeed.”

“Are you military?”

“My father was. I… was a slave.”

He chokes on the glass he had poured. I had intended to break the news a little gentler.

“Oh.”

“It’s alright. What House do you hail from? You might know my old mistress.”

“...Pavus.”

“I served the lady of House Adonis,” I watched in secret horror as he put the pieces together. “I’m sure I’ve run into you at a party at some point, the two families intermingled often!”

“Yes I’m sure.”

“I do love this dance!” I offer, the music picking up. I look around the room to see the bard playing her heart out, and people hopping around to the tune like the country bumpkins they were. “It would be my pleasure, sir.” I take his hand and we make our way toward the crowd. They egg us on, exclaiming in excitement as we begin the Matryoshka. Others sort of catch on to the steps of the routine, and soon the room is booming with dancers. 

Dorian and I laugh with each other in a moment of solidarity I never could’ve predicted. 

I bump shoulders with a tall freckled man and he murmurs an apology. His dancer partner is Sera– who does not look happy to be in his arms, her eyes locked on me. Dorian, knowing his cue, trades partners with Sera. He spins into the arms of the other gentleman. Sera slides a hand on my back, awkwardly guiding me through the energetic dance.

“Oh, shut it will you. I’m trying to play nice.” I firmly grab her jaw, forcing her gaze on me.

AG Catch Up #2

(I'll mainly be talking about the interactions between AG and the other idol in attendance because the full show hasn't premiered yet)

Jungwoo, Sungchan, Shotaro and AG represented NCT at ISAC this year. Jungwoo was the only member who left early to go to 127's fan meeting in Japan

One banner that czennies's prepared congratulated AG on their Queendom win.

This year's ISAC is Hannah and Juno's first time competing in the festivities

According to NCTzen's in attendance, AG ran for the girl 4x100 m relay race and archery.

In previous years, Moxy has taken two gold medals for the 60m dash. This year she hoped to add to the collection.

At the end of both sports, AG won with a silver medal in the relay, a third gold medal for Moxy in the 60m race and a bronze in archery

Royalty met Royalty when Stray Kids and AG stopped and talked together. I.N and Moxy poked each other every time they passed by each other

Junhan from Xdinary Heroes has talked about being a fan of AG and hoped to meet them. In passing, the two groups bowed greeting each other. When the Xdinary member walk away, Junhan couldn't wipe the smile from his face

Nobody knew that Hannah was friends with any group but when she ran over and crashed in the arms of Seonghwa from Ateez, fans were shook.

You all know Moxy was attending SS9 no matter what. Moxy and her manager went to the last day in Korea.

Fans expected her to attend with the other SM idols in attendance but she actually met up with Yuqi from (g)i-dle.

The two completely forgot they are idols during the entire show. They danced and sang along. Moxy couldn't keep her eyes off Yesung during Ticky Tocky

Eunhyuck personally called Moxy out during the ending mnet.

"Someone came today that fans call my gummy twin. Moxy stand up!"

For Moxy's solo, She performed Ghost instead of You Don't Know Me (She performed this at the Seoul Concerts). She still slayed her Love On The Floor Solo. During it, Fans began to chant Queen in Japanese

Moxy cried during her individual mnet. She talked about the warm words for Japanese fans keeping her going during Queendom

"I've missed so many shows here for the fans here in Japan and for that I apologize. But I also thank you guys. I've seen your messages online. I really needed that. To hear that you understand and you still wish myself and AG well."

Before the show ended, 127 brought out a cake for Moxy to celebrate AG's queendom win with the fans. Moxy blowed out the candle at the top (Her wish was to perform in Japan with AG).

At the concert, AG performed three times. They prepared Do It Like This, Cannonball and Emergncey

They first performed DILT and Cannonball with a mnet in-between.

When AG and Dream arrived at LAX dozens of screams met them. Hannah tired her hardest to wave at every fan who came to welcome them

Aurora’s dad, stepmom and siblings all came to see AG perform at their second Kcon

AG's first performance of the night was of Cannonball. Smoke and confetti shot out at the crowd when Moxy sang the opening line

The whole stadium light up lime green for the ladies of NCT. Fans furiously waving their nightsticks to the beat

The girls had a TON of energy. They were running around and interacting with the crowd. During the instrumental bridge, The girls ran down and took photos with the crowd closest to the stage

Curiously, The members would catch the attention of their managers then point to someone in the crowd. AG had their manager give out free AhGiBongs and batteries to Nctzens without lightsticks in the front couple of rows.

Later on, AG came back out in all white outfits accented with scarfs in their signature colors. The girls performed three more song chosen by fans on their twitter account (An AG tradition at this point!)

They started with Hit Me Up, an online AGzen favorite, and followed it up with Breakout.

For a small break, the girl did an mnet, thanking the fans for their warm congrats on their queendom win. Promising fans that the members wouldn't spend any more time on haters. That their sole focus would be on their fans, new and old

To end their time on stage the girls wanted to give the fan in LA a performance they couldn't get anywhere else so to end, they performed Emergency. Screams filled the arena as soon as the music hit. Fan caught Jisung and Chenle watching from the side

NCT Dream ended the night on a high. Attendees posted video of AG and members of Loona and WSJN dancing to Glitch Mode before going on stage for the send-off

The three AG members ran to the Dreamies capturing the members in hugs. The NCT members walked around saying hello to fans

That night, Aurora was on Bubble talking about meeting up with Loona again, Meeting the members of NMIXX and wishing they could have been at KCON longer.

The next day, the girls visited a pop up that SM set up to celebrate AG's Queendom win. Fans they were in attendance got to hang out with the girls for 2 and a half hours. The girls hosted a quiz show where 10 winner got a free AhGiBong with signed packaging.

One of Aurora's fanpage managers was there and when they met her, they start crying. Aurora was quick to offer tissues and thank them for their hard work.

The youngest fan there was speechless in front of her bias Juno. All the girls helps the young fan relax makes the entire crowd 'Aww'.

Shut Up, Aragorn 

You ladled stew into the bowl, passing it to the waiting Sam before moving onto the next. The Fellowship had been on the move for several weeks, and it was your first night cooking. You had never been particularly skilled when it came to food, but you thought you’d done a decent job this time. Ladling the last bit into your own bowl, you moved to your spot around the fire, waiting to see everyone’s reactions. 

Aragorn was the first to take a bite, and he smiled at you, so you assumed the best. You looked around the circle as everyone else ate, all of them giving you the same sort of grin that Aragorn had.

“It’s delicious, Y/N!” 

You missed the looks of confusion everyone else gave Legolas at his words.

You finally took a bite and spat it out in disgust. 

“This is awful!” 

And then, “What did I do?” 

The entire group burst out laughing at your face. 

“Stop eating that, it’s disgusting!” You proceeded to dump your bowl out onto the grass next to you, not caring that it was wasteful because you had completely ruined it. Everyone else sheepishly tilted their bowls to show that they were all empty. 

“We, uh, kinda already got rid of ours when you weren’t looking,” Boromir admitted.

You laughed again. “Well, I’m terribly sorry to have put you all through that. Sam, could you scrounge something else up?”

The hobbit was nodding, already grabbing some herbs from his pack, but your attention was drawn elsewhere.

“Legolas, why are you still eating that?”

The elf was in fact still shoveling the stew into his mouth.

“I told you! I think it’s great! Y/N is a wonderful cook.”

Your mouth was hanging open in disbelief. 

“Huh. Well, I’m gonna go get more water for Sam from the stream.” You stood and grabbed the buckets, humming as you walked down to the water.

Meanwhile, the rest of the group was busy teasing Legolas.

“I knew you liked her, but I didn’t realize you were completely devoted to her!” Boromir nudged the elf, beaming. 

Legolas was blushing. “I am not devoted to her, I just felt bad about the stew!”

“Please! I’d only eat that stew if it was the last thing in the world! You’re clearly very much in love with her to do that.”

“Shut up, Aragorn,” was the only response Legolas had to that.

Aragorn shrugged, unconcerned, and stood. “I’m going to go see if Y/N needs any help with those buckets.”

“So, Y/N, I noticed you talking with Legolas earlier.”

“Uh, yeah, he’s one of only nine other people to talk to. So?” 

You were ankle-deep in the stream, filling up one of the buckets.

“Well, you seemed to be having a good time with him.”

“Yeah, he’s really nice. He also loves to talk about archery.”

As you put the bucket on the shore, reaching for the second, Aragorn wasn’t sure if you were purposefully being like this.

“And then just now, you were blushing a lot when he complimented your stew!”  

You walked out of the water, picking up both buckets and starting to walk, the ranger keeping pace easily.

“Again, so?”

“I’m just saying I think the two of you would be very good together,” he observed.

He noticed you were struggling with the two buckets and grabbed one, careful not to slosh the water out.

He continued, “I mean, with his love of archery and your skill with the sword, you two are perfect for each other!” 

You noticed the smirk on his face.

“Shut up, Aragorn.” You sped up, leaving him behind shaking his head at you in mock disappointment.

“C’mon, Y/N. You know I’m right!”

Back at the campsite, you dropped the buckets next to Sam, smiling as he gave you a nod of thanks, before pulling Legolas aside. 

“You didn’t have to eat that. I know it was awful.”

“I wanted to, though. And it was actually pretty good!”

You laughed at the earnest look on his face. “C’mon, Legolas. Stop lying. Why did you do it?”

He looked down, not meeting your eyes. “I didn’t want you to feel bad.”

“Oh.” You didn’t think you could love him any more than you already did, but with this, you were just helpless. You didn’t care about getting your heart broken, at this point, so you went for it.

You whispered, “Can I kiss you?”

He blushed again. “I thought you’d never ask.”

Legolas bent down and slanted his head so that his lips met yours. It was gentle, sweet, exactly what you’d expected from the kindhearted elf. Then, he pulled away. Looking into his eyes, you saw something spark but didn’t have time to think about it. His mouth was on yours again, a deeper kiss than before as he backed you up so that you were pressed between him and the tree. You wrapped your legs around his waist, and tangled your hands in his hair, kissing him as enthusiastically as he was you. 

A whistle sounded from behind him, and you quickly broke apart, flushed, to see the rest of the Fellowship lined up. Merry and Pippin had their hands over Sam and Frodo’s eyes, and Boromir had his hands over theirs, making for a very amusing picture of blinded hobbits. 

Legolas shot Boromir a look.

“What? I’m protecting their innocence,” the man declared, finally removing his hands. Merry and Pippin blinked at the sudden light, even though it was dusk before Pippin smirked at you.

Whatever he was about to say was stopped by Aragorn, who stepped forward, wiping fake tears from his eyes as he slung each arm around your and Legolas’ shoulders.

“Ahhh, my two best friends, together at last. I might cry.” 

You each smacked him and then spoke in unison.

“Shut up, Aragorn!”

That said I also consistently think about an au of it in which zuko thinks sokka is dating azula for some reason and has the mother of all breakdowns bc I think it's peak comedy

y’know it’s really inconsiderate of people on this site to consistently have better ideas re: my fics than me

though okay tbf i think that fic would be like. 10 times more angsty than wtwt and i really don’t take my own writing seriously enough to write angst but oh my GOD what a fucking concept.

so. what i’m imagining. the fire nation is hosting one of those post-war ‘sorry we committed genocide’ reparation celebrations, but sort of like the olympics? there are bending tournaments, and physical sport tournaments and archery and swordfighting and shit, but there’s also a tournament for like. strategy shit like pai-sho and other nameless intellectual competitions

and the gaang are all helping organise these events and eventually competing in them, but azula is forbidden from using her bending (still relatively soon post-redemption) so she throws herself into organising the strategy competitions, with sokka. and these two like. lose their Minds trying to out-think and out-strategise each other. and no one else can come close; sokka’s out-of-the-box, fucking ridiculous genius shit the only thing that could challenge azula’s ruthless genius shit.

so azula and sokka are just going back and forth with each other, making puzzles and logic problems and all kinds of ridiculous shit, constantly challenging and one-upping each other and meanwhile. Meanwhile. zuko’s trying to organise the firebending tournaments on his own and technically, sokka’s meant to be helping him with the swordfighting tournaments (it’s not an elle zukka fic without a sparring scene!) and was really looking forward to having all this time to spend with him, but sokka’s always off trying to be smarter than azula. and one day sokka shows him this like. 3-d puzzle maze he made or something and is like ‘oh, azula’s gonna love this’ and zuko’s like- wait just one fucking second

anyway, cue zuko being like. what the fuck sokka. azula, really?!?!? but he’s trying to be a supportive best friend bc that’s what sokka and zuko do, and then of course (probably with toph’s help) zuko realises the reason he’s so upset sokka’s in love with azula is because he’s in love with sokka, because that’s the fic format and im sticking with it! so this is obviously where it gets angsty because zuko’s spent his entire life fighting to measure up to azula, for whom things come naturally, and then of course the guy he’s in love with has chosen her, and im sad just thinking about it

meanwhile tho sokka’s bricking it trying to figure out how to ask out zuko (because im sorry but the ‘i thought we were already dating?’ without any kissing or formal dates only works if it’s zuko thinking it) and asking azula for advice, and azula, obviously, exclusively gives terrible advice because she thinks it’s funny. so we have zuko trying to be happy for sokka and distance himself from him, and sokka trying to woo him in the worst ways possible thanks to azula (i’m not saying sokka surprises zuko with an elegant meal, the main course of which is the popular upper-class delicacy of fried turtleduck, i’m just. thinking it loudly)

hilarity ensues, yada yada, then at the end when they’ve finally confessed their undying love for each other, sokka’s like ‘how the good fuck did you not know your sister’s a lesbian and already in a committed relationship with a woman’ and zuko’s like ‘she’s a what’ because zuko has never once in his life understood or picked up on social cues from a human woman.
