I finished my counterpoint final today and all we had to do was compose it but I decided to be extra and record it on cello.

The high parts are kind of yikes because I’m not gonna lie, I am playing cello a lot more than I have been for the past several years but I am still rusty as fuck in that upper range. But I drowned it in reverb and layered some synth instruments in there to smooth out the rust. Lol.

I had a lot of fun writing this! We just had to use counterpoint techniques and write it in a modal style and shift between various modes. I used D Dorian, F Lydian, and E Phrygian. Could say more about how I structured the piece, but instead, how’s about you give it a listen and decide if it sounds good or not, because that’s all that REALLY matters 8)

for the ask game, what are your three favorite tracks?

OOOOO this is a tough one (I like so many of the fromsoft tracks)

Third has to be Aldritch's theme -I like Gwynolin/Moonlight Butterfly and Aldritch's theme is just that but spookier. It makes me afraid and I like how it encapsulates how horrible of a guy he is.

Second is probably Moonlit Melody? It shows the progression of Bloodborne's tone and I'm a sucker for leitmotifs. It has a little bit of Flora's theme in it which is wild?? (Gehrman's theme also does if I'm not mistaken which makes me go just as feral).

Limiting myself to one of the tracks from The Old Hunters (because otherwise, they'd be all of these). I have to go with Laurence. It's grandiose and melancholy and I really like the idea that it's mocking him!!!! This beautiful choir and organ juxtapose him yelling at you to give him the last shreds of his humanity back!!!!! I love it!!!!!!!

Shotaro would LOVE taking his twins(idk why i can see him with twins) on walks in Japan. he would give each a turn on being on his neck. they would stop at little snack trucks getting all kinds of snacks for his little ones. They would all have a similar laugh to him the most, the small little giggles and laughs together with his kids. their laugh would be so distinct and different you'd know him and the kids were at the playground.

Eunseok I can see with a son, he would playfully teach his kid really random english words, and when his son is around riize they would hear the same they hear from Eunseok "nice" "very good" etc lol he would take them to concerts with riize, bring them on stage and such. his personal insta i can see FILLED with his kid!

Sungchan with a baby girl and a big brother. I can see him always having to chase the runaway girl, lol he acts like a little monster when chasing his kids. always carrying his kids on his arms/shoulders cause he's strong and they enjoy when he uses his strength on them to carry them :((( "up, daddy, up!!!" is what he hears ALL the time lol but of course he LOVES doing upsy's with his little monsters!! (that's what he calls them btw))

Wonbin would have a son who would also learn how to play guitar as good as his dad, he would also know how to skate. He would dress his son in the same style, and they would both look like complete models. His kid would have a bubbly personality and almost 3D like, I can really see his child bringing the most out of Wonbin more than Riize does tbh, so combining them would be a crazy bin bin lol

Seunghan would have 2 girls and 1 boy, he would lowkey enjoy doing all of their hairs tbh lol he would always remind the girls how pretty they are and the boy as handsome. he would call his son his twin, instead of his son lol he would love playing and throwing his kids in the air and singing to them to sleep.

Sohee would love being a boy dad lol he would teach his son how to sing at a young age of 2 years lol he would be practicing and his son would be too busy trying to outsing his own daddy. they'd have sing offs when he's older tbh i can see it!! :(( they'd have the most precious smile, almost similar to sohee's, and would be blessed with the good vocals as well!!

Anton would have a babygirl :(( she would be just as soft spoken and sweet as her daddy. Always very respectful, and not loud. ((besides her tantrums lol)) but her tantrums were never long cause I can see Anton SPOILING her. Her grandparents would spoil her as much, and I can see Anton a bit jealous about it btw lol she would learn the cello and maybe violin.

hints that Larissa Weems didn't actually have a crush on Gomez but had a crush on Morticia instead:

#1 her strong feelings for Morticia

...which are presented as resentment, jealousy and bitterness, feelings that could easily result from misinterpreting a serious crush you have on a person

meanwhile she doesn't seem to have any strong feelings about Gomez at all

on the contrary, in one scene she even seems to belittle him or express a certain indifference towards him:

in this scene Gomez doesn't understand what Weems and Morticia are talking about and while Morticia is very gentle with him as always Weems' reaction seems a little arrogant and she seems to even be mocking him a bit

I think this somewhat condescending reaction to Gomez not understanding what they're talking about is very interesting because it is actually somewhat out of character for Weems. She's usually not cocky or arrogant but in this scene she shows a certain disdain towards Gomez. And I interpret this as her being like "omg this man is so stupid and simple, how could Morticia choose him over me??"

sure, them being at Nevermore was 30 years prior to the plot of "Wednesday"

so you could just say Gomez was a teenage crush she quickly overcame and now she doesn't care about him anymore and even realizes that he is way too simple for her

but if that's the case, then WHY does she still have this strong feeling of sourness for Morticia? she obviously doesn't care about Gomez at all so if it was him she had a crush on why would she still be hanging on to so much bitterness towards Morticia?

I mean, the whole scene just SCREAMS "omg Morticia how could you favor this guy over me" and definitely not "omg Gomez how could you favor Morticia over me"

seriously, go and watch that scene again

it's at the beginning of episode 5

and I think it's so obvious there that Weems thinks very little of Gomez and doesn't understand how Morticia could choose him over her

#2 her reaction to Wednesday playing the cello

Weems has such a strong reaction to Wednesday playing the cello and the show focuses on the mother-daughter-relationship between Wednesday and Morticia which makes me think that Weems' reaction is supposed to be a hint that she is reminded of Morticia playing the cello and that there is another similarity between Wednesday and her mother. If that is the case and Weems is reminded of Morticia when she hears Wednesday playing her reaction is... telling:

#3 Gomez and Weems would be no match AT ALL

there is absolutely ZERO chemistry between Weems and Gomez

like zero

I mean sure, again, 30 years ago and that is a long time but still... wouldn't there be some kind of... I don't know, connection? at least a little bit? but there's zero

Meanwhile Weems and Morticia:

the teasing

the looks they give each other

Not only wErE tHeY rOoMmAtEs (oh my god they were roommates) but there are several other indications that they were very close at the time:

Weems knows about the visions Morticia had and says that she remembers that Morticia thought she might be losing her mind at first... a very personal and private matter that Morticia probably didn't discuss with many people

they participated in the Poe Cup together, Morticia as captain and Weems as co-pilot

Morticia saying that they had good times together... Weems doesn't agree that they were always good for her but they definitely were close at the time and spent time together not only as roommates

they did a duet for the Solstice Talent Show, a fact that I LOVE btw

#5 the fact that Weems cares so much about Wednesday

all her students are important to Weems and she always does what she thinks is best for Nevermore but she seems to have a special interest in helping Wednesday to fit in and find some friends

she forgives Wednesday many times even though she always breaks the rules

Weems seems to have a soft spot for Wednesday and would she have that for the daughter of her former rival if there really were only negative feelings for said rival? Why would she care for Wednesday that much (more than she already cares for each one of her students) if she really hated Morticia and obviously doesn't care about Gomez at all?
