Ok so, I’m mostly going with headcanons and some Gotham Knights lore because my knowledge of canon is passable at best but since the moment I first saw a Talon (I’m pretty sure it was fanart of Talon!Dick) I was obsessed. Evil organization comprised of a city’s elite? Sign me tf up.

A lot of this will mostly be in line with my Owl Song verse tho so bear with me >.<

The Court is ruthless. The Court controls Gotham. There’s an entire nursery rhyme dedicated to them and their most infamous weapon; the Talon.

And, see, Talon is where it gets interesting.

The Court has always had indoctrinated assassins working for them. But simple humans with human flaws and limitations… well, there was a point where that simply wasn’t enough anymore. They needed something better. Something stronger.

So they began researching, gathering scientists into their ranks and having them work on an interesting substance they’d discovered in one of the cave systems below Gotham: Electrum.

Human experimentation wasn’t far off at that point and soon they injected the first person with it. Unsurprisingly, that person died within a day. But instead of remaining inanimate (you know, like corpses should be) the body… started moving again after continued electrum exposure. Regaining mobility and basic brain functions with the added benefit regenerative abilities, increased agility and strength, and absolutely zero pain response.

The “corpse” was intelligent enough to follow simple instructions, but it wasn’t capable of speech or intelligent thought and perished not long after they stopped injecting electrum.

Regardless, the experiment was deemed a success and research into electrum and its “resurrection” properties continued.

The Electrum got modified over the years and infused with several genetic properties of various kinds of birds (mostly owls) to encourage animalistic traits to develop and aid in missions (and also to erase as much of the Talons’ humanity). Eventually the Court succeeded in making Talons that would not immediately die without a steady supply of Electrum, but since the Court doesn’t have use of most of them 24/7 (and because they are technically still corpses) they built cryostasis chambers in which the talons would be “stored” in between missions. Only a select few talons were kept in the mines at all times as a sort of guard should any civilian become curious and try to snoop around.

Of course those mindless soldiers are nice and all, exactly what the Court needed at the time, but they lack the ability to think for themselves, gather intel, and follow more complex orders.

New experimentations began. After all there must be a way to create a Talon that’s still all of the above but also capable of intelligent thought. They simply need to indoctrinate the chosen person early enough that disloyalty would never even cross their mind.

If we’re talking Owl Song verse, Dick was the perfect candidate for it. Recently orphaned and with amazing training? Young enough to be impressionable and twist his mind? It’s like he was made for this. For the Court.

But before they could turn him into their perfect little weapon he needed more training, so they kept him in the mines with the undead Talons, injecting small doses of electrum into him every couple days and pitting him against other talons.

After surviving for several months without any human contact save the scientists that would monitor his body’s reaction to the electrum, the Court deemed him ready for his first simple mission. To kill a low ranking member of the Court.

Dick refused.

The Court stepped up their game.

What followed were several months of indoctrination and veritable brainwashing through various methods. At the end of it Dick was actively suppressing any and all memories of his old life until he eventually ended up forgetting even his own name and started to refer to himself as Takon.

The next time the Court asked him to kill for them, he complied.

(Two years and many gruesome missions later they put him into the cryostasis chamber for the first time.

Dick felt his heartbeat slow down and his muscles lock—- but he didn’t lose consciousness. He remembers ever single moment of being stuck in the cold, in the darkness, dead but at the same time not.)

just ✨imagine✨ – some closed auction with very specific-and-unique stuff, aimed on some narrow monster audience. Why human is a host here? She kinda... wanted a job not in McDonald's, but luck wasn't on her side – at the end, it is what it is. She started to make small talks with visitors and crack jokes around only to escape her fate as an auction lot. To her big surprise and happiness, visitors found feigned confidence believable, as well her humour sharp and dark enough for their twisted tastes, but not too belittling or offensive to hear from a mere human.

More so, she grew popular in this small community. Now she's cheeky and brave enough to talk back to some especially rude visitors– It's still a joke to everyone tho. Laughing stock of the day usually gets too embarrassed to come on her twice and audience can be ruthless.

But huh??? At some totally normal day here's more people than usual??? Regulars looking especially nervous for some reason???? And her boss is suddenly disappears after some lameass short unreadable message about "special guest"?????

Huh. Strange. Well, whatever, business is business-

Guess who got in the playful sarcastic bullshittery with some giant broccoli head first and now sweating bullets cuz that dude is just... Buys everything? Every-single-fucking-lot???? His bets are so high for a quite literal trash sometimes, is he insane???? She knows who is it from the first bet honestly, but she keeps repeating for her own sanity that it's some obsessive cosplayer.

And at the end of the auction he refuses to leave and makes a ridiculously small bet on "the charming host".

She jokes herself the way out only because she was so – well, she tells to bring and show her some fucking lost artifact from a rumour that was popular million years ago if he wants to buy even a minute of her time. "No more, no less," she says and leaves, pretty sure that she won this.

Even if her knees are shaking behind the curtains after a realisation it was fucking Greed Icon, she still believes that she can outplay him.

She's in pure panic and loss of words because she ran out of options and bets are getting insanely high. She thought he was playing and that he will get bored after getting a handjob (it was just a pin at first, she swears!!!), but on their last meeting he told her to get ready for a wedding. G666gling "WHTAT SHOUDLG I AKS FOR PKEASE HELP BITCH HAS EVVRHYTHIN" isn't helping at all.

Rinx loves how well-educated about valuable things she is, how good she's in jerking him off– and it's funny to see how she's sweating as she tries to decline his gifts and fails miserably. Truly, this game was fun while it lasted, but now? Now he wants a Queen.

I love the three body problem books. I love what the author did with the whole story. Even if the characters are not that interesting, I am completely ok with it because I was more interested in the existential horror of it all and the characters, be it bland or complex, served their purpose. The horror itself is the character for me. I will never not love these books....

But MY GODS...do some of the stans of these books annoy me when they refuse to accept how problematic the author and the many aspects of these books themselves are. I am gonna stop enjoying these books because of that but I am not gonna deny that, well...yes, the books are rather sexist. And yes the author...SUCKS as a person. He just does. I enjoyed his writing. I will derive my enjoyment from his works. But no...I won't support him. Because I don't want to. It won't feel good to me.

Will I still recommend his books? Yes, I will. But with a clear warning that the author is an asshole. And the books are, indeed, quite sexist. I also can't deny tho that the overall saga he created across these three books...is amazing TO ME. I love the story. But it's not for everyone. And that's ok.

These books and their author do make me think of separating the art and the artist should be done with him, especially, when his conservative way of thinking gets poured into the story. Idk...no matter what way I think, in the end, these stories will always have a special place in my mind. The existential dread and grandeur these books created will always be fascinating to me. I praise Liu Cixin for being such an excellent and talented horror writer and loathe him for his regressive ideas. Still, I don't think my opinion of him is complicated. It's very simple: I like his books as a horror fan. I don't like him tho. Some would find his works no longer enjoyable because of him and that's completely fine too. But people refusing to see the sexism in his stories and hating on others for pointing out annoy me the most. Especially, a weird bunch of people who keep pointing out that Cixin is great because he is a "non-western" author and his stories are not understood by Western people....OK?? As an non-western woman, I find this line of thinking very weird. Almost CREEPY. This is the bad kind of cringe fans. Eww. Granted, I appreciate it when people defend non-western creators from unfair western criticism but this is different IMO. This is overcorrecting. If he has written sexist tropes in his stories, everyone is allowed to question his work. LCX doesn't need your "protection".

You are allowed to like someone's works but dislike that someone, at the same time. Talented people are not always good people. Good people are not always the best in their work.

Past the awkward encounter of dealing with the *pink* carpet, it’s a pretty regular movie date. You get a good spot, in a mostly empty cinema with plenty of snacks.

He’s not the most into this movie, but he mostly enjoys glancing over to you to see how you’re reacting to it.

That and he bought a big hot dog. Normally he’s not supposed to indulge in lower quality foods but lord, it hits a spot.

Ken’s plight is very funny to him.

James and Matthew headcanons because TLH is over (;-;) and I adore them and miss them everyday

Matthew calls James "darling" because he knows it "annoys" James but mostly because he adores Jamie (I mentioned this in a previous list of headcanons but y'all will hear it again because I love it)

Matthew tries to convince James to be more adventurous with his fashion choices,,,it never works tho

James rarely cries; Matthew can probably count on one hand how many times he's seen his parabatai cry, but when he does, it breaks Matthew's heart into a million little pieces and he inevitably will start sobbing as well

If they lived in modern times and had cell phones, Matthew would absolutely send James a million pictures of things he sees and people he meets on his voyage. It wouldn't be cool landmarks tho, or like pretty scenery, no, it'd be like photos of a rat he saw stealing a donut, him almost falling into the canals in Venice because he stood up too fast on the boat, Oscar chasing a flock of swans, etc

James, Matthew, and Tom all gather at the Lightwood family tomb on Kit's birthday and the anniversary of his death. They bring lemon tarts to share, though they rarely ever eat one themselves, and talk to him about how much the world is changing, how Kit would've been so excited to learn that the mundanes invented airplanes and televisions and they'd even share with him the scientific contributions Grace has continued to share with Nephilim society (i refuse to believe she stopped being a woman in STEM after she figured out the fire messages)

Matthew is the only person allowed to cut James' hair

they both suck ass at cooking but sometimes James will attempt baking cookies or muffins for everyone; Matthew "helps," and by help I mean he sits on the counter and critiques James' technique until James inevitably throws flour at Matthew's very expensive and one of a kind waistcoat how dare you James

I will die on this hill because I've imagined James like this since his first introduction in The Bane Chronicles: his eyes glow, ok. Not like, very noticeably, but if it's very dark in the room his eyes will let off this iridescent glow kinda like the scales of a fish when they shift in and out of the light. People who don't know James very well or are seeing it for the first time can find it a little unnerving but Matthew never once felt afraid. He likes to call them his own personal north stars ✨✨

James and Matthew will share books back and forth. One will read and annotate it and then give it to the other who does the same. They love seeing each other's little notes as they read

Where Matthew is bright colors and expensive jewels, James tends to stick to the same four colors (black, white, navy, and gold) Occasionally Matthew will convince him to wear heavy gold rings inlaid with precious gems or a dashing emerald waistcoat embroidered in gold because "it will look absolutely lovely on you, Jamie" (and of course it does, in fact, look lovely on him)

They of course have that bestie telepathy that I think most people have with their best friend; when you witness something ridiculous and just give them The Look and they know exactly what you're thinking? Yeah, that's definitely resulted in plenty of instances of James and Matthew bursting into laughter for seemingly no reason while everyone looks on in confusion

Similar to James rarely crying, James doesn't strike me as someone who laughs often. That isn't to say he's unhappy, I just think he only laughs when he genuinely finds something funny. James doesn't do pity laughs, ok, if you say something ridiculous he'll just look at you like ._. Matthew made it his personal mission since they met at the Academy to make James laugh at least once a day. Like a full, unbidden, genuine laugh. Matthew could probably write a 10 page essay on how much he loves James' laugh, how to make him laugh, what never fails to make him laugh, etc

Matthew's love language is physical touch (we all saw him clutching onto James' wrist for dear life throughout this series right?); James' is acts of service.

Whenever Matthew has bad days, days where he struggles to be kind to himself, days when it's difficult for him to feel present, he tends to ask for James. James takes this as the blessing that it is, seeing as a younger Matthew would've bottled it up until it boiled over, and spends all day with him. Sometimes they sit in silence, Matthew simply needing to feel grounded with James' presence; other times, James will read to him, tidy his flat, fix that wobbly table leg Matthew keeps putting off (James is surprisingly handy) and on the really bad days James will hold him, rests his cheek against Matthew's head and reminds him of all the reasons he loves him, why he chose to become his parabatai, and that nothing Matthew could ever ask of James could ever be a burden

James gets Oscar a new collar with a matching doggy bowtie every year on his adoption day; Matthew obviously keeps every collar and switches them out so Oscar can feel like a dapper little gentleman

Anyways I adore these two and I'm still manifesting a Matthew short story collection because no amount of James and Matthew parabatai content will ever be enough

1. Neil has really thick curly hair that is either really short or medium long and at least to the shoulder length in the future, Type of curls he has (3a or 4a) most definitely wears a hair band to pull it out of his face (he started growing it out because it helped him tell the difference between him and Nathan)

2. Neil skin is almond with cool undertone which makes his scars stick out a lot (Neil doesn't care tho)

6. Some people compare Neil's appearance to what the devil must look like charming, unreal and scarily beautiful because of how his eyes sometimes seem like they glow in the dark.

7. Neil doesn't mess with his hair anymore since he stopped running and now barely even touches it if it's not to pull or run quick fingers through it when he takes a bath/shower so Andrew ends up being the one that usually takes care of Neil's hair.

Andrew didn't SOB he didn't even make a noise, he just had a particularly really bad day he didn't want to be touched he really didn't want to even be around people he was sitting on the roof when Neil found him his face was particularly somewhat blank with a frowned and knitted Brown he seemed frustrated even a bit angry, and he was crying.

His face was slightly pressed against his arm with his eyes locked on the buildings almost spaced out he didn't make a single noise to indicate that he was crying the only evidence being the tears that were falling from his eyes and the red undertone under his eyes.

Of course Neil flinched when he saw him like that, he didn't say anything though. He didn't say anything he didn't even make a jab about Andrew wasting a cigarette, no he sat down not too close but not too far away from Andrew, you knew that Andrew knew he was there and chose not to say anything so Neil didn't say anything either if Andrew wanted silence that's what Neil was going to give him.

(If Neil were to talk to Andrew during this time he had the rifle suspicion that Andrew wouldn't have responded anyway.)

Neil sat and watched the city with Andrew for at least an hour until Andrew put out his cigarette and threw it over the edge wiping his tears away on the sleeve of his jacket before he departed from the roof in silence, neil followed behind him after a few minutes more on the roof.

Andrew was missing for a while after that a neil longed on the couch waiting for Andrew to come back with a cartoon playing on the TV (he didn't put it on exy because Andrew didn't like it.)

Andrew did come back after an hour with food but didn't speak about what happened on the roof and Neil didn't bring it up.

So ... It can be a short book about him trying to heal, to fight his alcoholism cause it can't be fixed in a week during Chain of Thorns. I refuse to accept the theory that Matthew tells everything to his parents, they forgive him and his alcoholism ✨ magically disappears ✨ after that. It's a long process which can start in the end of Chot.

So: a bit about him in a.... Shadowhunter rehab?🤨; him getting closer to his parents and Charles (after his redemption arc), them supporting each other, being open about their sexuality; him slowly building healthy romantic relationship; Cordelia and James supporting him; him trying to draw and write poetry, trying to heal with the help of family, love and art. Again sth about downworlders cause he really loves to be around them🌚him gaining his confidence again and returning to his "supportive mom💕" mode.

TJHEY'RE MOSTLY THE SAME TO MY ORIGINAL THOUGHTS but Mikey is slowly rising to 2nd place in my 2012 favorite turtle leaderboard, but Raph is still #1 tho god i LOVEE the 3d and something about it reminds me of bricks or clay and i want to bite into it and it is VERY COOL i love the other mutants designs theyre AWESOME so far.(except that one. spider. ball. thing. i refuse to believe it wasnt a figment of my imagination) Favorite so far would be that big fucking plant guy... free salad. The kraang tech is really just. So fun to look at!!! And the kraang are so fun to listen to when theyre on screen <3 APRIL. she's pretty cool i once again wish to say I hope she stops running into oncoming traffic all the time because holy shit. BUT!!!! VERY COOL. I dont exactly like her design tho but what can ya do, yaknow. I want to punt karai. Thats all I have to say. I ALSO want to punt Splinter but I'm still on the fence of whether or not thats negative or postitive right now. ⊱ honestly, he'll be happy to help you with anything, mostly to return the favor but also because he's genuinely interested

⊱ he won't mind any ritual although he probably will get slightly scared at first... but isn't adrenaline mimo exciting?

⊱ he also doesn't have problem with getting you any resources if they're along his way or if he even has them at home
