Watching everyone gather for the Day of Unity had been the most terrifying display that you had seen in years. All of those demons and they had no clue what they were up against.

Luckily for you, a human girl and your great nieces who you'd never thought to see had tracked you down to inform you. You had no clue how they managed it, you've been in hiding for centuries after you had the most crushing argument with the love of your life and ran off after the confrontation with your sister and his brother.

You didn't stay long enough to know how it ended.

Perhaps it was better that way.

Years had gone by since you had left and you wished you could have changed things, you wished that you hadn't spoken such horrible last words to him, to your sister, to her husband.

The past was the past now, you had a situation to take care of.

The human girl, she said her name was Luz, along with you had been captured by a smaller demon that worked for the Emperor. In your hiding you had never heard of this Emperor but from what you had been told, he was no good. So you were prepared to aid the human in any way you could if it meant saving your home.

You were dropped in a room that you couldn't see from the other side of the orb you two were being held in. Luz had seemed frightened for a moment, but forced a determined look on her face.

One of your hands touched her shoulder and she looked up at you.

"It'll be alright." You whispered and she smiled back at you.

After an outside conversation died down, you heard another voice acknowledging Luz and slightly confused of who you were. That was until the field was dropped.

You saw Luz begin to prepare glyphs so you unsheathed your staff and held up a shield to give her time.

The Emperor had suddenly gone still and taken a step back. You didn't falter, but something began to tear at your chest as you saw him look at you with recognition. Your name left his mouth and you were caught off guard. He couldn't have known your name.

He moved towards you slowly and you backed away in confusion, then your eyes moved to his clothes, his face and back to his eyes.

No, no, it couldn't be.

Then you remembered that night all those years ago.

The night you had both created a spell to live together, as long as one heart beats the other will continue to live on. He called it marriage and you took it.

You glanced at the red that began to glow under his jacket sleeve and back to the orange sigils that glowed on your arm.

Luz had been watching everything, confused on your lack of attack and even more on the Emperor's. She saw your arm and squinted before pulling on your arm.

You looked back at her, dropping the spell as you tried to come to grips with what was happening. You couldn't speak, just shaking your head as if you would wake up from this strange dream. Luz looked away from you in a panic and tried to set off a glyph before you felt arms wrap around you.

The man who you hadn't recognized before, the man who you hadn't seen in years, the love of your life, your dearest--

"Philip?" You muttered and you felt him relax in your arms as you slowly wrapped them around him.

He pulled away to take to your face in his hands and smile at you. "My love, it has been far too long."

You kissed his wrist and felt tears well up in your eyes, you had missed him so much. By the way he had taken your hands and kissed the knuckles, you could tell that he missed you too.

The warm thoughts were quickly interrupted by Luz's cry to you.

"Look I don't know what happened between you, but you've seen what he's doing! We showed you what he's been planning and what he'll do to everyone, don't fall for this!" She begged.

Luz was right, despite what you had with Philip before all of this, he was currently trying to eradicate your world. He could already see the conflict in your eyes as he took you by the face and turned you from her to look into his glistening blue eyes.

He touched your foreheads together. "My love, I would never put you in danger. The day that I lost you, I have never forgotten."

Then he fell to kneel in front of you and held your hand. "Come with me. Let us leave this place and live out our dreams, let me show you my home."

Your heart sank as you looked at him and then you looked at Luz. There was no simple decision, either one would have consequences that would shatter your heart forever.

So, what should you do?

Now let’s get onto some character design study! Let’s start with her limbs!

I was going to make her limbs white, which aesthetically didn’t look nice, so instead of white limbs, I thought maybe I make it the colors OF the stripes, with the white slightly showing, and if your wondering how her limbs turn from normal to tiger.. let me demonstrate..!

That’s basically how her limbs change color, her limbs originally have dark stripes with a slightly lighter rest of the skin, depending on how much she turns into a tiger is how much the colors show!

The paws on the normal limbs are different from the tiger ones, I couldn’t make the paws the exact same color as the limbs so I made it lighter (since I didn’t show it in the reference above, I didn’t put it’s color in the palette)

Her tail completely shifts into nothing just like her fur on her neck, I thought it would be cool if I added small stripes along her neck where the fluff comes but I thought it was a little too much, since the limbs were already showing off the cool stripes, yk?

Plus, if you noticed, the more normal version of her is more awkward and shy, to the point she doesn’t even know what pose she should make! But the more she shows off her bestiality, the more confident and proud she is! Since tigers are very strong and confident, I thought it would be cool to make her lose/gain that confidence based on how normal/bestial she is!

Her claws can unsheathe, which is why I demonstrated it in the reference above btw

To disguise her stripes, she said she was just born with this “odd beauty mark pattern” which wasn’t exactly a lie, some people would fall for it, and some got suspicious but didn’t think too much about it

And uhh about my older sonas, (Fuorzy, Bookmark, and Portal) I’ll see which ones I’m gonna stick with since I think I’m losing my hype for Bookmark

And to end everything, she is one of my (favorite) sonas now, as she really shows off everything I have!

I am a white tiger therian, very VERY skinny, I have glasses (my old ones were circle glasses), freckles, I always feel confident and happy when I shift into Xue, aka my theriotype, and in reality I am a very shy and awkward person!1!

Soo.. WOAAH!! HI OBJECTIFED VERSION OF ME!! :D

I thought it would be such a perfect idea to add my theriotype in my sona because I got SO MUCH therian energy off of Dynamite! Which inspired me to make my own oc and lore and au and… yeah you get my point.. <:D (I actually shifted earlier today and yesterday after months of nothing which felt so refreshing, I thought I lost my connection for a while!)

I get this question a lot <XD When I was first designing my sona I wanted to add something to their hands. At the time my hands were covered in Band-Aids from dry skin and cat scratches. So I thought "Hey! Bandaged/bloody hands would be cool and edgy :DD" So I added them <XDD

Oh yeah, that episode was a bit odd huh? XD I think in my version of Octonauts they didn't go all the way down to its stomach- maybe just into the mouth and got the Puffer fish out.

Now the REAL episode that I basically 100% cut is the cone snail episode. You know why? Cone snails are estimated to have poison strong enough to kill 700 people! And there's NO antidote!! NO ONE would have survived being stung. Not even the Captain. They all would have died and left Peso abandoned on a ship full of the bodies of his friends in the middle of the ocean... :x pretty dark huh-

The basis for my Kirby Anime AU is I just found a way to add all the Metaknights to the story. You know, Axe knight, Mace night, Javelin Knight,,, etc.

This is obviously a SUPER angsty AU. For example, Axe Knight was Metaknight's first follower and best friend. But then he sacrificed himself to save Metaknight. Thinking he failed his soul was restless and he now wanders the galaxy fighting Monsters and honoring Metaknights name.. Not knowing that Metaknight survived. Its a REALLY long story that I should ramble about sometime XDD

I would advise against it,, there are plenty of good reaction images out there to find! I should know, I have 996 of them saved! I'm almost at 1000! XDD

how do you generally design characters/choose color pallets?

whenever I try and create a good color pallet they always end up clashing and looking absolutely awful

i've tried using websites but they always end up being very bland, so i'm turning to the expert lol

the only character i've created that I actually. like. is the one that's just a black freaking tiger with rainbow glowing stripes, but that's because monochrome with color pops just always is flawless </3

I'm by no means any expert, but I'm really happy you think my designs are appealing enough for you to ask me this!!

I ALWAYS try to come up with a character concept or idea for who they are before I start designing. Because of this, you see a lot of my designs turning out to be designed very strategically, with their features actually having proper functions and reasons to be there

This is why I have such a hard time with gifted designs. I don't know how to make them work without a background or concept I can really connect to properly.

For specific character designs, I usually think of and flesh out a basic idea in my head. Depending on how lucky I end up being, I can imagine every detail right off the bat. Other times, I have to put some work into it and experiment a little.

Some of my characters come from dreams, too, and I just immediately sketch out my interpretation of the idea I'd had

Peter came from a dream about a white rabbit with a weird face killing a nuclear family's father leaving the mother and child alone with no idea what happened (it was disturbing, (there are more disturbing details,) which is why I made peter very unsettling)

Butch came from a dream that had something to do with fake peppino from pizza tower running around the It Steals maze area throwing cleavers at whoever he ran into

Dreams are a GREAT place to come up with character concepts

They give you a very solid ground before you start designing

One of my guidelines for creating characters is that they should be instantly recognizable as their own character. What are their special features? What defines them? What features would I keep if I were to draw them at the bare minimum detail? What parts of the design would make the character unrecognizable without them?

For example, Reena without her yellow.

Queen without her shadows.

You see this rule pop up a lot online, though mostly focusing on the idea of the silhouette of a character standing out from the others.

While I think it's a good option for when it comes to developing designs, I don't like worrying about it too much. I try to create the individual features of the character rather than immediately think about the silhouette.

All things considered, you're also totally allowed to break the rules to achieve something else. For example, Saleem and Minnow have identical silhouettes because I wanted them to give an uncannily similar vibe. Some characters who were derived off of others through dreams I might have had have very similar silhouettes as a nod to their origins, though have very differentiated individual features.

I look to various other artists and designers I like for feature ideas when I'm super stuck (usually when my ideas are more abstract)

for example, scrawl came from a very abstract dream and literally didn't have a face (they were just a bunch of hands and looked a little bit like a black void worm from Rainworld)

I took inspiration from Fooffle's Space AU Warren for his face, Sir Needle's sona's ears for his hair, and gave him this sweater from a random thing I found on Pinterest that I liked

Bennet (and the rest of the caravan gang) came from a dream about various different individuals riding on a wagon - Bennet specifically in the dream was Uncle Ben who runs The Urban Rescue Ranch. I ended up giving him the name Bennet in reference to this, as well as Uncle Ben's broad shoulders, muscular build and curly hair.

Queen's entire existence is inspired off of the protagonist from Bendy and the Dark Revival. As a nod to this, I gave her a partially monochrome color scheme with some accents. Queen's shadow face was inspired off of this specific fanart of Caesar from The Mandela catalogues.

Mr. V was inspired off of Itward from Fran Bow, as well as Pastra's sona Clyde the veldigun. I gave him Itward's large hat and formal attire, and Clyde's long limbs and striped patterns. I also gave him deep halloween colors as a nod to both inspiration's aesthetics.

My biggest thing about features is there has to be a REASON why they have these features, but that's just personal preference (and there doesn't have to be a good reason, or even a reason at all every single time)

Sorry if this is disappointing, I don't have a process for picking colors that work together

It's a lot of trial and error, and some characters I've even stalled making profile pictures for because I don't know what to color them as.

to me, you can pick any color you want. It's actually very impressive to think about how many colors you could use.

I'll try to explain what I do know about the placement of colors, though. It doesn't matter what colors you use, but in my opinion, the placement of these colors is what really matters in designs.

Depending on how many colors I'm planning on giving the design, I like to split them up into parts. Primary coloration (1,) which takes up most of the design, secondary coloration (2,) which takes up less of the design but still a good amount, (Sometimes I have more, tertiary, quaternary, whatever, that take up about an equivalent ratio of the design as secondary,) and accent colors (3.)

Similar colors can also be grouped together in these sectors. For example, all the purple in this character would be primary, the greys secondary, and the oranges the accents.

For Chakra, his purples would be primary, all the bright colors of the wounds secondary, and his outstanding eyes accents.

Each sector should be different and differentiable from one another!

Divide your character up into sectors for coloration. Decide what colors go where. Sometimes it takes a bit of shuffling to find what works for you. Adding inbetween colors to branch the gaps between your selected colors can help tie things together, too.

To me, instead of WHAT colors you use, it all comes down to how you USE those colors.

Cordis is mainly dark colored, primary, with their secondary rainbow colors and their accented white features. Even with rather bright colors in their palette, they still come off as a dark gloomy character because of the placement/ratio of those colors.

Monarch has very clashing colors, though when separated and balanced out, they appear harmonious and work together.

Anyways that turned further into a rant about character design than anything else

Are all your ocs robots in some way? Or I guess what species would you classify them as (for the non tf ones)? 

Nope! They might look like it, but a large portion of my ocs are anthro dragons because my writing started as a wof au and it'll cherish those roots goddamnit. And some of the more robotic ones too aren't man-made, so it's like a flavor of biological. As for species, 90% of them are made up for this world specifically. Of the ones in the image, the non-man-made-robot and organic/semi-organic species are:

Illizyka's species isn't named, but she's a void-corrupted creature that uses a metal body to be able to interact and operate in any world as sol pleases.

Don't have much on this gal's species, but it's bug-like with a chitinous exoskeleton.

9H7R-A (Niesserae)'s species is the closest to organic machine I have. They are specifically lab-grown and designed to keep a highly mechanical and technically precise civilization running essentially forever.

I think this guy is mechanical, but he sure as shit doesn't stay that way for long.

Peyon is part of a race of mortals who compliment and worship their gods. They're small, mammalian, and are trait-dependent to which god/arcana they live in. Doll is their sentient doll based off an old sona of mine.

Don't remember this guy. Think their species is semi-mechanical

This guy is completely mechanical, but wasn't built by mankind, instead, by a self-sustaining mechanical race of quadrupeds I call Cyclers due to wheels they hold on their body magnetically. (there's actually lots of more ocs of this species, but they have distinct beaked snouts instead of strict triangle and I was not going to subject myself to more torture than I had too).

Rose, Thunder, & Torus are all members of a species of insanely powerful but insanely empathic species that runs the dominant governmental body of the main world. Torus was on a diplomatic mission, had too much of their old power and was too empathetic. Through accident, they became an amnesiac and through their empathetic powers, latched onto the memories and emotions of the local populous, and ended up believing they were a member of said species and would live on before someone figured out.

Killjoy, Toizon, Heron, Guziel, Datar, Banott, Stung, & Professor Tebya are all pat of a race known as Ermista or Ista depending on how badly I cringe at the name Ermista. They're a race of bug/bird-like bipeds who completely lack sexual dimorphism, live on a planet with a sun that hates them, and has a metamorphosis where they get their wings.

Of any race here, Ermista have the most lore and culture, such as most Ermista who live up north tend to live in small villages. Most know how to hand-weave fabric, as they make a flag they put into the ground to mark where they're cocooning (they go through metamorphosis unground), then carry that flag through the rest of their lives as a mark of identity and a sort of right of passage. They have different systems of magic and those systems interact differently with each other (although some are more fleshed out than others). They don't have a dominant sex and don't really exercise gender roles at all.

This one's a god. He could use a philosophy class about pain.

These two are creations of that god (called Paragons), designed to be perfect, never rot, and never suffer, and essentially lead the happy lives he never got to.

Ionize is also a member of that same species, just far, far into the future after Titatiaraum is dead and members of his perfect race have since either left, evolved, and otherwise altered.

I've almost forgotten everything but I do remember her species was pretty short compared to everyone else.

Another god, this one turned mortal willingly and got to watch his god-siblings tear themselves to shreds.

Part of a race of immortal beings that rot into animals, and grow back/heal into trees. I suppose this guy also needs to be included too

Yet another god, this sucker's puppeting a mechanical body though

Semnastica and Mourana are both members of the same species, Semnastica being male and Mourana being female. They're both quadrupeds and have powers because they hatched under blood moons because I made Semnastica when I was 14 at most. (I'm thinking about making these two's species (or Xulanium's) predecessors of the race Torus disguises as and later amnesias themselves into.

I THINK Salisun was supposed to be a fusion of a Cycler and something else organic, but he's also 90% aesthetic.

I've never figured out how to flesh out her species or Ouna herself, but they've got goo for hair and horns. That's coincidentally the only goo-species I've ever made. Huh.

Don't have many details on his species but they were somewhat civilized warrior-cats style and built little huts despite being quadruped.

No details on Mono, they're 100% aesthetic.

These two are the member of the same species and they're small and fluffy and have only one sex. They're also fluffy.

While Bypin is a pure machine, built by "man" and a full robot, I want to highlight them because they're one member of a race of centaur dragon tanks, who live on a planet in the same System as the Ermista, but closer to their hateful sun god that frequently sends down increasingly disturbing bird-angels to destroy all life on its planets (its planets are its children so its like fleas on your child). The race on that planet stays mostly underground until they developed the technology to remove their souls and place them in mechanical bodies they can use to fight back (Remizular is an example of a member of that race who was once organic, but later became tank (I lost their redesign that account deletion comes back to bite me in the ass)).

(Honestly, tank dragon centaurs are really cool FIGHT ME)

There are a few more species that don't have triangular faces and don't have characters in them as like, prey or purely animalistic species. I really need to focus on that side of it more wtf.

Lab Assistant AU - Hello Puppets!

This originally started as just for fun self indulgent stuff but I kept hyperfixating on this and Riley in general so I have decided to make an AU for it! It is loosely inspired by @handeemuse 's muse AU, but I don't have any real story and I encourage those to get silly with it if anyone would like to participate!

Note that you are welcome to make your own assistant-sona if you would like, my Sona isn't the 'original' or 'only assistant-sona' and you are welcome to create your own storyline for this in however way you see fit. I wanted to share this for the Riley enjoyers!! (For I am personally both a Nick and Riley enjoyer)

In this AU Riley has an assistant that occasionally shows up on the Mortimers handeemen show. The assistant has their own labcoat, goggles, and gloves; they are welcome to customize it how they please as long as it still adheres to lab safety. They may even have a custom name tag!

Riley and assistant are close in this AU, how so depends on your view point of it! She often infodumps to assistant and asks their opinions and input on an idea or experiment she is planning. (Assistant has free pass of the lab as long as things don't get bungled up etc) Rosco also really loves assistant and follows them like he's their shadow (which is honestly one big reason why Riley trusts them, if Rosco likes them she sees that as a very very good sign). Mortimer is most likely still hella cranky towards humans. Daisy is very sweet and motherly. Nick still has his rivalry with Riley, you are welcome to incorporate your muse-sona if you have one because personally I am going to do so on the side for mine because I just think that idea is super funny. Just muse and assistant accidentally being caught in-between these two glaring at each other like they're at a dog park and their dogs are about to beat each other to death./lh

So, I've been reading the first part of GeminiWillow / @somereaderinblue's Purple Hyacinth AU, Part the First, Hush, little baby (don't say a word). I, of course, have been getting emotionally devastated by it. (The AU is that Tesla is born with Knives and Vash was the first Independent Plant and suffers Tesla's canonical fate. Also, Rem and Luida have switched roles, Ship 3 and Ship 5 switch roles. Also, from reading tidbits on their tumblr, it seems that Livio/Razlo are going to be the "Wolfwood" for Tesla). I brainstormed a bit of it with them, having seen their proposal and sharing ideas. This is NOT a co-write. I'm just eager to see where it goes. Now, one thing I have noticed when reading Hush little baby is that there is a LOT of obvious inspiration from two chapters of my own long WIP (Rem Lives AU), Survivor's Guilt - Chapters 6 and 7 specifically, which are flashback-chapters to the Tesla situation. PH-author drew the surnames of SEEDS-crew from my fic, which they thought were canonical. (I corrected them and anyone who reads comments on that. I nicked the names from The SCP Foundation as a reference to another media with morally dubious scientists). There are other similarities, as in, a lot of inspiration from my fic, as well as some things I've seen in other people's fics there (that handle Tesla), as applied to Vash. There are some unique things in there, too (like, now I'm kind of kicking myself for not even thinking of having Tesla share dreams with the dependent Plant-sisters like Vash does, but it would have made my chapters too long and my story was Rem-centric / firmly in her POV even as it was third-person). I kept thinking about why I am very chill regarding people borrowing some ideas and a bit of style from my fanfictions.

Well, first of all, it's because we're all writing fanfiction - simply put. We aren't being entirely original here, as we are expanding upon a source-material that we don't own the copyright to. Also, we are limited in scope because of said source material. Second is an experience I had about 2 years ago in another fandom. There was someone whom I was doing some fic-collaboration with because we mutually had some OCs we admired - like "Can I use your OC in a fic as a cameo-mention?" and so forth. It was pretty common in the teeny, tiny sub-fandom of a big fandom I'd found myself in because said tiny sub-fandom were for a bunch of literal clone / cult-survivor mook characters who did not canonically even have names let alone individual backstories and could be shaped to fan-creator's wills in the aftermath of the canon on the premise that they'd finally gained their freedom. It was pretty much "Instant OCs, just add imagination" without running into the messiness of self-inserts / "sonas." This tiny sub-fandom also started doing pretty much a collective fanon regarding the culture that these types of characters would develop and what they had in their former lives as soldiers. I wound up on a Discord for this sub-fandom and its fanons and I introduced the concept of roleplay to it, but the person who ran the Discord was obviously uninterested, so they made a separate Discord for it and set up a few folders and moderators. Problem was, I was made one of the Mods without knowing much of dip about Discord's functions and the person who'd set it up set up a bunch of folders based upon one popular fanficcer's locales, probably without their permission. In addition to this, I'd wanted to do a roleplay-story with one other person, but borrowing some of said fanficcer's ideas. I contacted them privately and discussed what was allowed and what was off-limits and proceeded. I had apparently misread some of it, because before I knew it, I had this person I'd once collaborated with roaring out the gate that I was plagiarising them, using things without permission and they also were upset over the folder-locale names (and didn't seem to want to listen to me when I told them I was not responsible for those, but they were besties with the forum creator, so I think I got scapegoated). It coincided with me being once a very admired fanficcer in the fandom to being "that person on the forum who became the friend that nobody liked." I got into it with another person, and I could just feel the tension, like, my neurodivergence done got me again and I didn't understand how to human, so multiple people were annoyed with me. I spiraled out of control - I'm bipolar, so I'm shit on the best of days, but this sent me into a full manic episode. I unfortunately lost my shit on a lot of people, which basically made absolutely no one want to listen to my side of it when I tried to explain that I had not, in fact, plagiarised and had simply made some permission-mistakes on something that wasn't even a public fanfic but was a two-person roleplay tucked away on a private discord that was never going to become a fanfic. Paranoia-person who was all "wounded lamb, she plagiarised me!" (over a mistake I thought we'd discussed and worked out) turned the ENTIRE tiny-subfandom against me, plus the greater side of the fandom it had originally shot off from. This included someone who was not previously involved but who ran another popular Discord doing a public tumblr callout post telling the entire fandom not to interact with me anymore. This lead to me becoming suicidal. I had lost an entire friend-group and then-some. Long story short, I'm not paranoid and have determined myself not to be a bitch. If someone in my fandoms likes some of what I am doing, as long as it's not copy-paste, they are free to borrow some stuff from me. You can borrow some of my ideas and style, as long as you add your own flair to it. I don't want to hurt anyone like others have hurt me.

the big sip [bigger sip, biggest sip] - ok so basically, the premise of big sip is that the gang loses control of their powers and have to get snatched by wu before multiple bad things happen, the plot changes slightly depending on your flavor of sip. bigger sip has them already reach the uh oh point by the time wu gets them, and [SEABOUND SPOILERS] merge with their elements like nya did that one time in canon. they turn back once wu gets them. biggest sip has them NOT turn back once wu snatches them, and multiple concerns arise from this. big sip is the only au that has fanfiction of it [i’m gonna write the next chapter of the sipquel..... someday]

forever superstar rockin - one of two simple canon divergence aus, this one is exactly as the name implies. during prime empire, jay never switches out of his superstar rockin avatar, and once he leaves the game he simply. stays that way. he does not change back and is stuck like that now. and this is literally the entire au, just him looking like That for the rest of the series. at least the clothes aren’t stuck?? [this also has an alternate setting, where kai too gets stuck in his avatar design. fools, the both of them]

frozen [no not that one] - the second canon divergence au, this one set in season 11 of course. okay so you know that scene where boreal just hecking deletes the entire village? this divergence is basically just. what if kai did not escape unharmed. what if he got hit and just, froze over like everyone else when the rest of the gang got back. that would be terrible. the angst potential. do not be fooled by my lack of coherency explaining this one, i have Many Thoughts about it, i simply cannot speak

no more trauma - bear with me on this one lads, it’s a wild ride. this au started as a complete joke and, it still is, but it’s also still an au. a joke au, if you will. basically the premise is, what if my friend and i’s sonas, yasa and star, who are multiversal explorers of a sort, just. went to ninjago. and stopped every terrible thing from happening right when it’s about to happen. they immediately leave right after, so they get the effect of weird yet helpful cryptids. this is a very strange au, i am fully aware. yet it is so funny

lighthouse - this is a big one, has ties to another au but only in terms of character design. i spoke in length about the plot a bit ago, but basically the whole gang is varying degrees of animal person, [MORE SEABOUND SPOILERS] by the time it starts, nya is already the entire ocean, and jay lives at the lighthouse now. the plot’s just like. jay gets kidnapped by pirates [guess who], the gang saves him, shenanigans occur in which jay is forced to become a ninja again, he HATES it for various reasons, and everything spirals until the end, where jay simply retires. he literally retires back to the lighthouse. there is a reason this is called lighthouse au. there is so much going on here

band [also vigilantes] - this is also a bit weird but honestly all my aus are like that. band au is not what you think from the cover. the gang IS the instruments. for example, lloyd is a microphone. there’s more to it than that i swear, they turn into regular people at night, where they then do vigilante stuff under wu’s guidance. also they still have powers. lloyd’s doubles as a booster for the others because. microphone. hah. also featuring various other characters as the actual band, like pixal. i would like to send you the image of edna playing an electric guitar, because that is canon information. i do not know who nya’s player is please help me. she is a piano

crreature [spelled exactly like that] - this is the one that ties into lighthouse design-wise, because crreature au started by me going “what if lighthouse designs.... but more?” anyway i have also yelled incomprehensibly about this one and will continue to do so for THIS is the au i obsess over. what is the plot. the plot is everyone [except lloyd this time] is humanoid animals of some sort, called creatures in lore, and they live in a reserve owned by wu and there are so many shenanigans. a pool party. jay and nya have a ‘wedding’. zane is constantly interviewed cause he’s literally the only one who can talk. lloyd manages what is essentially a youtube channel,

gaming - this, surprisingly, is the self indulgent au, and not crreature. this is the other one i’ve talked about, especially jay’s role in it. i love gaming au. it’s zane and jay centric since they’re my friend and i’s favorite characters and this, as stated, is the self indulgent au. basically in gaming au, jay’s the companion npc / final boss of a vr rhythm game, and zane is Just A Guy who works for videogame-flavored borg industries. shenanigans with a prototype vr portal allows jay to literally just. walk out of his game into the real world. and zane essentially gets put on babysitting duty. the entire au is just Shenanigans as jay terrorizes the city and zane tries desperately to keep his sanity. this is such a good au. lloyd is here and he works at subway

elemental - “i am the most powerful subway employee to ever exist” - lloyd... that is the summary of this au. in which lloyd is exactly that, just some guy who works at subway. everyone else, however, are manifestations of their elements [and also the elements themselves... it is Complicated]. there’s too much plot to explain here [feel free to ask me to explain it though!], but basically lloyd has to go on a journey to reunite the elements of creation [+ water] in order to prevent some big disaster event from happening. along the way he discovers that oh, turns out he’s the descendant of the guy who made the world and that is why he’s the one who is doing this. cool.

lost lightning - this one is. weird. i introduced it here, but basically lost lightning starts off as a “ninjago without jay” situation up until the tournament of elements, where chen, not having lightning, opens a portal to the first realm to find a dragon to steal. the others follow him and find jay, who in the au is a funky cryptid not-quite-dragon man called a scavenger. after many shenanigans, jay ends up following them back to ninjago, not quite becoming a ninja but still mostly joining the gang, and the series goes along from there with MUCH rewriting to fit the whole... y’know... cryptid man... it’s a weird au, idk what to tell you

oops i did it again [here be dragons] - okay, so legally, this is called “oops i did it again”, but OFFICIALLY, it’s “here be dragons”. this is to lost lightning what crreature is to lighthouse, meaning i took one look at a design and went “what if... it was MORE?” ...here be dragons is, as you can guess, an au where the gang [minus lloyd, as it goes], are dragons. in the au, dragons are very, very extinct. or so they were SUPPOSED to be. zane, in the au, was built to preserve their legacy, but went missing, and upon his discovery ALSO happened to bring the discovery of four more dragons, which are kai, nya, jay, and cole. they’re the last known dragons in the whole world, at least, to anyone’s knowledge. so lloyd has a pretty important job of keeping them safe and protected, not that they. make it easy. they are very feral. help him

10. Do you enjoy writing dialogue, exposition, or plot the most?

Exposition, I think.  To be precise, I like writing a character monologuing to themselves in their head and out of these three options?  I think exposition offers the closet opportunity for me to do that.

14. If you were stuck on a desert island with only two characters, which would you pick?

Hmm.  Hmm hmm hmm hmm.  Jung Heewon and Lee Hyunsung, maybe.  I name these two characters because 1) I feel like they’re very unlikely to leave me to die in a hole 2) I bet they’re gonna have some real funny golden moments together. 

17. What fic are you most proud of?

Honestly, probably my knw cousin au fic.  I don’t think it’s the best thing iIve written in this fandom, especially since that was in the early days of me writing orv fic.  But it’s still a fic whose concept I’m quite proud of -- I think it was pretty original for the fandom, at the time! -- and it’s still the one fic I’ve gotten the most comments for, so.  Definitely feeling a lot of warm and fuzzies there!

20. What’s your favorite minor character you’ve written?

Lee Seolhwa!  I legitimately remember very little of her canon characterization, but the characterization that the conglomerate that is orvcord came up with amuses me so much.

21. What is the one fic that got away?

Well, that kind of depends on what you mean by that.  If you mean “i always meant to finish this fic but didn’t”... it’d also be the cousin fic.  I had a lot of stuff written up, but flat-out didn’t edit it or publish it, because I needed to reread the novel to figure out where it was going, which... didn’t happen.  The last time I read the novel was over a year ago.

If you mean which fic grew rapidly past my control?  Ageswap au.  It doesn’t have a solid beginning or solid middle, because the sheer logistics of me attempting to write a chronological story with it would be difficult.  It was only ever meant to exist in segments, which, yes, it does -- but did I expect that many segments?  Nope!

30. Tell us an idea for a longfic you want to write in the future.

I am very bad at estimating fic lengths, so I’m just going to give you a fic that I don’t think I’ve talked about before (seeing as how I do have longfic ideas I want to write in the future but you already know about them).  It’s based off this thing Sona said about ‘what if yjh dates hsy because he knows it’ll end horribly and it will end all of his current desires for romance’.  It’ll be a gen fic.  I’m going to call it Epic Divorce Man Rides Again.  We will see how long it takes for me to actually finish writing it!

✦ starly is an ambivert. she won’t initiate conversation unless it’s necessary, and she won’t be engaged in the conversation if the other party doesn’t interest her. when she’s with people that she is comfortable with, starly is much more talkative and sociable, sometimes being really loud to the point that she needs to be quieted. when enough time with people passes, she will be exhausted and go quiet. she is a go-with-the-flow type of person, so depending on her mood, she can either be the one who tries to stop people from doing something crazy, but more often than not, she’s either enabling it or partaking in it. 

✦ honest to a fault, starly wears her heart on her sleeve most of the time, making it easy to tell when she’s happy, angry, or just plain bored. she is also a horrible liar, and she’s aware of this, so she mostly gives up and tells the truth anyway. however, when it comes to the deepest problems that eat away at her, starly will not indicate anything that she’s going through something. burdening others with her problems makes her feel a little guilty, and she either has to trust the person completely or be pushed enough times to get her to talk. 

✦ starly is not easily motivated to do things because she wants to lie down and relax all the time, hence why she doesn’t have many hobbies. she may be writing some stories from time to time, but they’re not very frequent. she also doesn’t like it when her peace is ruined, so when she’s first transported into twisted wonderland, her stress is almost palpable. due to this, she hates having to face conflict and would want to go about her day without any problems aside from school. however, when something truly captures her attention, she will fixate on that and dedicate nearly all her time to that one thing. 

𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐜

“ heal what has been hurt. change the fates’ design. save what has been lost. bring back what once was mine. ”

penitent’s deal is the unique ability that enables starly to reset time to any point in the past, though the farthest she can go is her first day in nrc. her unique magic takes three seconds to activate after she says her um incantation in which no one can move. after those three seconds, time will stop moving before it starts reversing at light speed.

due to its near omnipotent nature, starly will feel weak after using her unique magic— how weak depends on how much time she resets. resetting a few hours back won’t do anything as long as she has her magical pen, a few days may give her a slight headache, weeks may give her a migraine, and months may leave her sick for a day or two. the reset also physically affects her, so if theoretically, her 22-year old self would reset to when she was 16, she would be back to her 16-year old self physically. however, the blot will still accumulate in her crystal from magic usage. when she says her incantation, she is rendered immobile, leaving her open to attack, so anything can happen in that timeframe. if starly dies during the three seconds that the reset is activated, she may not return in the next timeline. 

most people would not remember the events of the previous timeline. however, depending on the amount of magic one has, some may be sensitive to the resets. mages with decent enough abilities may experience a slight sense of deja vu or have somewhat vivid dreams of the previous timeline that could be forgotten. strong magic users such as the dorm leaders experience a stronger sense of deja vu and will have vivid dreams about the previous timeline. then there are the particularly exceptional ones who will know that a reset has occurred.

𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐚

✦ starly originated from a universe where my friends’ sonas and mine interact with each other! she didn’t have her own standalone story where she’s the only one in ramshackle until very recently, and there are many differences between her standalone story and her story in that universe. for this blog, i will only be sharing her standalone story.

✦ starly was originally supposed to remain magicless all throughout her story in twisted wonderland. however, one day, i remembered this undertale au called flowerfell where frisk’s resets cause a flower to grow on their body. it made me think of how in twst, you can always return to any part of the story, which made me think about the possibility of resetting time to any point in time as you wish. and that’s how starly’s um came to be. 

✦ speaking of her um, it was originally titled as reset. however, it sounded too literal and too short, so it was changed. 

✦ starly has the habit of always apologizing even when she doesn’t have to (example being saying sorry to someone when she just needs space to move and she has to go past that person). she thinks this is why took calls her madame penance. 

✦ starly is very competitive in games, hence why she chose the boardgame club. her favorite opponent is azul because he’s the best at bringing out that desire to improve in her. 

✦ like the in-game mc, starly comes from a world where even the concept of the great seven and mickey don’t exist.

his backstory is one of if not the most painful backstories i’ve ever written, which is why i don’t really post/reblog too much of the backstory art i’ve done of him because it is very sad

uhh. his main relationships as of current day are either matthew or grima from fire emblem (obviously very canon-divergent lol, honestly to the point where i could just. make matthew and grima their own ocs. i already have aus where they have full names haha, but i don’t need to get into that), and an oc named ekura, who belongs to my best friend

name meanings are something i kinda get obsessed over so kiran’s full name is “kiran kevala suha ijana”, kiran meaning “light”, kevala meaning “lonely”, suha meaning both “starlight” and “forgotten”, and ijana meaning “sacrifice” ijana is his family name from his mother’s side, which is another whole bag of worms

he had another middle name which was vadhah, meaning “death”, but eventually this one spiraled into being his own out of control oc, kiran’s chaotic contradictions god partner whom i am also very fond of, as much of a bastard as he is

i love kiran very, very much because he’s the reason i met my best friend, who you may or may not know, depending on how long you’ve been followed to this blog

uhh. another fun fact. his eyes originally used to be orange, but i changed them to sunset colors and gave it a canon reason to switch from the actual ishvalan red he would usually have

his hair has gotten continuously longer over the many times i have drawn him

i’ve had him since about late december 2017, and he’s honestly one of the reasons i am still alive lmao

he means the world to me, as silly as that sounds, since he’s always been there for me

and yes, his name is technically just the default name of the summoner in fire emblem heroes, but nonetheless it still fits since he brings light into my life

I can say that she was a big part of the Demacia changes, considering she’s the only ‘mage’ they’ve chosen to acknowledge and intertwined besides Sylas (give me Sona lore please.) but other than that, if you don’t care about Demacia, it’s not really the main story.)

Were they relevant for the main character?  YES / NO / THEY’RE THE PROTAG. (She may be Riot’s poster girl, but she still isn’t the main character. See above.)

Are they widely known in their world?  YES / NO / MAYBE ? ( I’m assuming only Demacia (obv) & Noxus really know about the Crownguards or at least have heard of them. Demacia is sort of isolationist & so I don’t see her being known around the world. Maybe in older lore, when she was out and about on missions and actually spying. New lore, probably not. If they had heard of Crownguards, they’d probably think of Garen first. )

How’s their reputation?  GOOD / BAD / NEUTRAL. ( Depending on who you ask. )

How strictly do you follow canon?  — I really try to stick to canon, but of course there needs to be some leniency in my opinion. If I very strictly followed canon, I think I’d be bored LOL. I like trying to mix a bit of old Lux’s personality with new ( since I was deeply in love with her before the lore changes. ) and try my best to make her unique. New Lux is definitely fake in a different way as it is with hiding a secret, but old Lux being two-faced, resentful and cold resonated with me. That being said, I still respect the canon, because I like the direction they’ve taken with Demacia. 

SELL YOUR MUSE! Aka try to list everything, which makes your muse interesting in your opinion to make them spicy for your mutuals.  —  Lux is already an inquisitive, curious person, so it’d be easy for her to find any way to interact with people / muses she already deems interesting. She wants to see and experience the world for herself, and she’s rather friendly ( unless you somehow show her that you aren’t. ) so it’s easy to make friends with her!! She tends to break traditions and rebel against the standards / life that was set up for her. She loves learning, especially about people, so she’ll have a grand time with your muse -- that is, if you like slow burn / any relationship development. All in all, she is a sweet, adventurous and sassy girl. She wants to meet all kinds of different souls. Need I say more?

Now the OPPOSITE, list everything why your muse could not be so interesting (even if you may not agree, what does the fandom perhaps think?).  — I don’t know. I’m biased and totally love her. But some people might find her a bit annoying, or look at her on a surface level and assume that’s all there is to her or find she’s airheaded. A peppy, light mage who spews bullshit about positivity and what not. Faking it to make it. Or what have you. I dunno, I think she’s telling herself to stay positive more than anyone else. She also doesn’t have a tragic backstory, she grew up quite nicely and I’m surprised her mother didn’t shove the annuller at her and just let her sass her like that. She was lucky, to say the least, in comparison to Sylas, and she’s quite young, literally doesn’t have any life experience compared to other champions. Maybe some people find her cliche and overrated.

What inspired you to rp your muse?  — I wrote her way back when in 2012. Or something like that. Fell in love immediately with her upon reading her judgment in the JoJ and wanted to give RPing a try. Took a break for a while and decided to take a step back from her, to see where I wanted to go with her. She’s absolutely my favorite character, let alone champion. Still love her to this day! 

What keeps your inspiration going?  — MUSIC. Honestly, music helps my muse so much. Any song that reminds me of her or any ship I have with her, or any song that reminds me of a hardship she’s faced, it helps so much. And obviously, my friends here. They are always so supportive of me. Heck, I might not play her as much anymore in League, but she still has a special place in my heart.

Do you think you give your character justice?  YES …? / NO. ( I think so, but I doubt myself ALL THE TIME, or think I could change something else about her, or make her more likable. I think... she’s alright for the most part? )

Do you frequently write headcanons? YES / NO. ( Sometimes a random headcanon will spring to my mind and I’ll need to write it down. Most of the time, I don’t bother writing it down since I need to consider it more. Or I think too hard about it and think ‘ nah, that’s not right. ’  )

Do you sometimes write drabbles?  YES / NO. ( I used to write them a LOT MORE. Years ago. About Ez/Lux. Now I kinda write them in my Google Drive. )

Do you think a lot about your Muse during the day?  YES / NO. ( She’s too cute. )

Are you confident in your portrayal?   YES / NO. ( Half & half. I’m always wondering if I’m messing it up or making her too nice or forgiving. If that is even such a thing.  )

Are you confident in your writing?  YES / NO. ( I think my writing is okay for the most part, I do want to work on descriptions / using more detail and similes/metaphors in my writing. )

Are you a sensitive person?  YES / NO. ( Yes. I get emotional for a lot of things. )

Do you accept criticism well about your portrayal?  — If it’s constructive and about my WRITING, then yes. Portrayal doesn’t matter to me too much. One person can have an opinion about how Muse A would react to a certain event, and another person could have a different one. It’s all subjective at that point imo, unless it’s obviously something that a majority of people agree on. But I’m not going to bring people down for their portrayal and I expect people not to do that to me either. If you simply don’t like my portrayal, you don’t have to follow/interact. There’s plenty of different potrayals of Lux too, so I’d be confused if someone felt the need to hark on me about it. It’s really that simple.

Do you like questions, which help you explore your character?  — Yes!! They let me think about small details or situations that I wouldn’t really think about otherwise. I love them.

If someone disagrees to a headcanon of yours, do you want to know why?  — Sure. I’m open to discussions, in case I missed something that was said by Riot or something along those lines. But if it’s something that wasn’t explicitly stated, like Lux’s favorite dessert or whatever, I doubt we’ll change our minds. We can agree to disagree.

If someone disagrees with your portrayal, how would you take it?  — Shrug. As I said above, that’s their opinion and how they see Lux. Everyone sees her differently. I’d probably be a little offended, because I put work into her, but that’s about the only thing. 

If someone really hates your character, how do you take it?  — Shrug. They wouldn’t be the first nor the last person to tell me they hate Lux, whether it’s because she’s too popular and gets all the skins, or that she’s basic, or whatever. I really don’t care?? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion of her. Just please don’t shove it in my face if you hate her or bother talking to me about it. If you love her, please DO shove it in my face. 

Are you okay with people pointing out your grammatical errors?  — Yes, sure. I always welcome feedback. I also know I use too many commas and am trying to work on that, but yes. If you could help me improve my writing in a NICE way, then I welcome it.

Do you think you are easy going as a mun?   —  I think so. I don’t like rushing people or demanding their time. I’m also open to writing any plots or ideas you have in mind. The only reason I won’t like you is if you obviously disrespect me.

I don’t know what my favorite one is, but I’m most proud of Keep your soul (like a secret in your throat). I’ve stuck to fluffy or smutty oneshots until this one. This was my first attempt to deal with a lot of plot and juggle multiple ships and character arcs. It’s the one I’m most nervous about people seeing and the one I put by far the most time and effort into.

Story You Were Nervous to Post:

Definitely Keep your soul (like a secret in your throat). It’s a s1 rewrite (with vampires, witches, and ghosts) and I’ve questioned my decisions with it over and over again. Is it too close to canon in some places? Am I dealing with certain issues with the sensitivity they deserve? I spent a long time just considering deleting it all, tbh.

How Do You Pick Your Titles:

I usually go for song lyrics. I’m not good at titles.

Do You Outline:

It depends. I don’t really outline my smutty oneshots. Or my fluffy oneshots. Those are simple enough that I have the necessary parts in my head. I do vaguely outline any 5+1 fic because I need to know what each number involves. And I do a lot of outlining with my longer fics. First I go through the character arcs for the full fic, split them up chapter by chapter, and then combine that with how I want to move the plot forward. So my final outline is just a vague sentence for each scene.

How Many of Your Stories are Complete:

I have 8 that are published or being published. I have a few I wrote for group chats that need a lot of work before they get published. But... Right now, I’m trying to decide what I want to work on next, whether that’s cleaning stuff up or working on a few fics I have been plotting in my head.

In-Progress:

Okay. The ones I’ve written in group chats that need lots of editing before I post them publicly:

1. A Malex cage sex alien sex pollen fic, based loosely on a scene from Lost. The first fic I ever shared with anyone.

2. A Malex porch sex fic I wrote to reclaim the porch after a friend’s creepy porch fic.

3. A Malex road trip smut fic I wrote off of a request.

Now the ones I’ve worked on outside of chats:

4. A Michael has been too focused on studying and Alex decides to help him release some tension fic.

5. A Maribel fic idea I shared with some other people, and offered to let them take it before I started writing. I don’t think they have and, well, I’m writing now, so... I may just pick it up. It’s angsty and focused on a lot of the pain they’ve caused each other.

6. A fic based on the original s2 premise. I shared my idea with a good friend (angst, so much angst). And I may just write it. We’ll see. I’m completely surprised to find an outline in my google docs.

Now for ideas that are just kicking around in my brain:

7. A Malex arranged marriage AU that has been torturing me since April, well before I started writing fic.

8. A prequel to one of my fluffy Malex fics based on a question a friend asked about a Malex moment referenced in it. This would be a 5+1 fic.

9. A sequel to my Halloween fic. I have a vague idea where it’s headed next and I have to decide how I want to tell that and if I want it to be two more parts or just one.

Martinez is too long (it’s 8 letters, where you need 6 or 7), so I’ll probably recommend Martine. For the first name… maybe Odel? As a reference to Odell Down Under, a 1995 video game about the ocean/being a fish. It seems like you enjoy the water and ocean creatures a lot, and you have a theme of underappreciated old games here, so I thought it’d be fitting!

How about Ordered Jelly-Fish modus instead. It’d act kind of like a tree modus with the Base item at the top, but there’s a relational structure going down. So like you said, for example, if he has a cat in his Main Slot, all branches from there have to be somehow related to cats. So he could have one tentacle that involves the number 9, one tentacle that involves Softness, one tentacle that involves meat, etc.

I don’t think you need the symbols, it clutters too much for a human character who has no real reason to utilize such a quirk.

I don’t… know what this means, the “fuaa” thing. The closest I can find is a meme? Like a psychic energy? But the guy claimed fortune-telling and the ability to raise the dead? And that it’s an internal willforce when you think you can’t do more… I’m guessing this AU world you’ve created is one where people have superpowers, so if you want this, I guess it would be more of a ‘last resort’ power than anything? Him summoning his will in order to effect change around him? 

Light synthesia works fine, though.

Personality: shy but alternate to strong

This is a really vague personality! If you want him to be a doom player, you should focus on him being someone with a hard life. Someone who’s not so self-assured, but who is a good ear to listen to. Maybe someone who needs to learn to stand up for himself- the Potential to be strong. To justify the dersite assignment later, you need to make him someone who’s either really worried about the past or future and someone who isn’t satisfied with his current position in life.

Page of Doom is what I would recommend, because of the fuaa ability and the potential I mentioned. 

Land:hmm….

Land of Frills and Tendrils, maybe? Both references to jellyfish, really. A risky, dangerous land with creeping, dangerous tentacles hidden among the pretty frills.

Dream Planet:Derse

Since Derse was the recommendation in the Glauce review, I’ll agree to keep it here, too!

Design:

First off, not to be rude, but please No One ever submit a double sized sprite with such terrible color artifacting ever again or I will just not be touching it. Anyways here we go. 

Hair: It was just John’s with some missing parts, so I made it not that. I based it vaguely off of the protagonist of Secret of Evermore’s hair, since that’s an old underrated game. 

Glasses: I decided not to leave them just a black blob and instead I made them a pair of goggles. I specifically based them off of the Light Amplification Visor from Doom. I thought it made a lot of thematic sense with his light synthesia. 

Mouth: The big teeth just looked awkward. He’s not a troll, he’s a human. So I made them into smaller, more even-sized. 

Shirt: I didn’t want it to be too similar to John’s, so I moved the outline out a little to make it wider and then reduced the belt size somewhat. I also made it a flat color. Which was so hard. All those colors. All those disparate, artifacted colors… I’ve seen hell. 

Symbol: Like I said, I replaced the squid with the Yoshi’s Story jellyfish. I also changed the color to sea green! 

Shorts: I didn’t want to rip right off the John shorts, so I sprited some new ones that are a bit shorter.  

Shoes: I had to edit the shoes a little to make up for the gap between them and the shorts. I also decided to make them darker just to fit the general grey you’d been going with on his clothes.
