Figuring out how it works & biding your time as you plan for over a century. The current archivist is too wise & won’t be a suitable pawn in the big scheme, so you kill her. Her successor is just a lad of 30 easily manipulated.

Only to find out this no-credentials having idiot is the favorite of the entity that you spent lifetimes dedicated to.

But Jonah Elias keeps his cool. He can’t show his hand. So he continues to bide his time. Marking him with each fear as he flounders about. Elias can’t give Jon all the answers because he has to grow & cultivate his powers.

But also if he’s the eye’s favorite man, he’s gotta prove himself. What does Jon have that he doesn’t? The bitterness is there but doesn’t show until the end. When he’s plugged into the boundless knowledge & is consumed by it. It’s too much. He thirsted for this for a century & he can’t fucking take it. But Jon can.

So he taunts him.

I just…really like him as a villain & I like to think he’s just a bitter old man but is so smart & so smug. Man has a voice that makes me want to shove his face into some dirt.
