negative. old mcu spoilers.
I watched Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness in theaters and I personally found most of it boring. I thought America would have a lot more overall screentime and direct interaction with Strange than she actually did :( Wish I had caught it on streaming instead lol.

Drabble Idea: Judge Crane decides to give his obsession a third option. Death, exile, or…….
You know he would use his position in order to get his crush all to himself while Gotham burns.
YES OMG SOME LOVE FOR JUDGE CRANE he's so underrated and I actually lost it when I saw the movies in theaters and he popped up <3 like omg look it's my husband
warnings: coercion, ownership, threats of noncon, yandere vibes
Tumblr media
"You can't be serious," you mumbled, but you knew he was-- Dr. Crane wasn't an especially humorous guy, that whole death by exile bit from earlier notwithstanding.
He still smiled at you, though; "It's your choice."
"Well, it's not much of a choice, is it?" you scoffed.
"It's a better choice than anybody else got," Jonathan shrugged, "if you do choose exile, I'm sure these guys would love to give you a nice send-off-- right, boys?"
You didn't even have the heart to look back at the thugs who had dragged you in here, but you heard them chuckling and mumbling amongst themselves. Crane had made his message clear, and you let out a sigh of defeat. "Fine," you said.
"Fine?" he repeated. "What's that mean, you'll just die?"
"No, I--"
"You know, you said once you'd rather die than marry me, do you remember that?" He laughed. But that was years ago, when your father tried to set you up with him because he was a respected doctor and you were a nice young socialite-- it was more about rebellion than anything else then, but learning about his insanity and criminal activities wasn't exactly changing your mind.
"I was wrong," you admitted, "alright? I'm sorry."
He smiled again, a little more sinister than the last time. "Then you can wait for me with the others... sweetheart."
~
The huddled mass of the 'arrested' dwindled through the day, executives and politicians dragged up the stairs to meet their fate as determined by Crane; soon it was only half or less left behind, with you simply counting the minutes until you'd be taken-- you couldn't imagine what life would be like with Jonathan, and for now, you tried not to.
He came for you at the end of the day, standing above you and smiling down as you stayed sitting on the ground, leaning against a pillar and waiting for whatever he asked you to do. "I'm not sure what I'm supposed to say," he admitted as he stared at you. "Hi honey, I'm home or something?"
"You don't actually sleep here, do you?" you frowned.
"No, no-- I believe in work-life balance," he shook his head; then reached his hand out to help you up. "Come on, let's go home."
Though you hesitated, you took his hand and let him help you to your feet with a wince.
"Are you alright?" he asked, seeing the pain on your face.
"They kinda roughed me up," you admitted quietly, though your breath caught when Jonathan pulled you closer.
"Poor thing," he mumbled, petting your cheek briefly, holding your waist a little tighter. "And having to sit on this hard floor all day-- you must be sore, hm?"
You nodded slightly, though you felt strange talking to him like this-- like it was a normal conversation, and not something you had to do to keep yourself safe. If being with him could really be considered 'safe'...
"I can write you a script if you're in too much pain," he offered, "but I think you just need some rest: somewhere warm, a nice big bed..."
He leaned in closer as he trailed off, taking a deep breath beside your head as he rubbed your back. Though he must have noticed the way you tensed up and nearly pulled away, it didn't deter him.
"I'll be good to you," he promised, "if you just behave. You don't need to be so afraid of me."
But you could hear the excitement in his voice; he liked that you were afraid of him. Finally, he had the power over you that you'd denied him all those years ago. No matter how sweet he promised to be, one way or another, he was going to make you pay for that.

[● I should not find it as funny as I do when I see movie theater incidents regarding kids' movies, or just. Movies in general, like technical difficulties or straight up bizarre occurrences
I literally just found out a few minutes ago that apparently in Ireland, there was a screening for the Super Mario Bros movie, and at some point an image of a partially nude woman flashed onscreen for a few seconds, and I'm in fucking tears. At the same time, I'm picturing this and it would probably kind of scare me. Funnily enough, I watched the Mario movie for the first time today and I am glad to say I did not see a partially nude woman flash onscreen.
There's also fucking. The one screening of Bee movie where someone fucked up and put in the wrong tape and kids ended up watching Saw IV instead, and I am still laughing about that fucking story. It took them a few minutes to realize what happened, and eventually Bee movie was played. I'm sure if I was a kid in that theater, I would also probably be traumatized, but I'm a fuckin teen who loves these movies with a deep passion and I think the scariest part of that movie was seeing Jigsaw's dick, so... sux to be them because that part was literally in the opening scene.
A similar incident happened as well with Megamind and Saw 3D, and like. Saw 3D's opening scene wasn't as bad because it's just Lawrence cauterizing his wound (did I spell that right? Idfk) and I doubt that the theater would let it get to the public execution scene.
This is more tame but I remember hearing a story about a trailer for [● REC] being played before a kids' movie and I think that's funny. The trailer in question is kinda scary I guess but it isn't graphic, it's just firefighters exploring the apartment and then Jennifer screaming and attacking them, but you can't see most of it because it's so damn dark.
This is not about a kids' movie but I find it funny to hear about someone watching Dr. Strange MOM and then the lights in the theater turn on halfway through the film??? Lmfao how the fuck does that happen???
And finally a super unrelated story. When I was a young boy, my family took me to see Inside out, but when we got there it was fucking sold out. The solution? We decided to watch Jurassic World instead because we're already here, might as well pick a different film to see. I was way too young to understand jack fucking shit about Jurassic World, and I hadn't seen any of the previous films or anything, so imagine me at like. 9 or something (genuinely don't remember) watching an entire crew of people get brutally slaughtered and being purely confused. It's ok tho because it had cool dinosaurs and that was enough to please my younger self.
So yeah, dumb/horrific shit happening in theaters makes me laugh for absolutely no reason like. How do people fuck this up.]

Perhaps Spoilers?
10. Bullet Train - 7/10
Tumblr media
9. Princess Mononoke (Dub) - 7/10
Tumblr media
8. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness - 9/10
I feel like I can't put this higher simply because I know why I loved this movie. Spectacle. That's it. It's the rule of cool turned up to eleven and I fucking loved it for it.
But literally, any video review could poke holes in this movie enough to sink a godsdamn ship.
Tumblr media
7. Seven Days (BL Movies) - 6/10
Tumblr media
6. THE DEER KING - 7/10
Despite my willingness to defend this movie, I genuinely can't recall how exactly I felt for this movie. I know I liked it, I like the music, there are some funny moments. Hohsalle is hot as fuck. There was a flashback scene that I fucking loved.
I do love when the theme soars.
Tumblr media
5. His (2020) - 7/10
I enjoyed this movie. I certainly liked it more than the show, but that could very well just be me.
I would've put the song, "his" by Takashi Watanabe here, but it didn’t show up, so I guess I fucking won't. It's on spotify, it's 1:03 long.
Tumblr media
4. Blade of the Immortal - 7/10
If you saw my thirst post, you know I find Anotsu Kagehisa hot as fuck. I just wanted to say that.
The fight scenes are exquisite, I love em. Especially the first and last fights.
Tumblr media

I've already done a review on this movie, so I'll say this much.
Dr. Strange M.o.M. can get fucked, I love this fucking movie. Watch it.
Tumblr media
2. Inu-Oh - 8/10
Fuck Me Running, I love this movie's soundtrack without a doubt. And this isn't a BELLE situation where the soundtrack is what I basically only love, no, I love the movie as well. I sincerely can't wait to buy this movie when it comes out physical, and I'm already planning to buy the vinyl.
I had to go an hour or so out of town to see this in theaters, so fucking worth it.
Tumblr media
1. Everything Everywhere All at Once - 8/10
Fuck. I only had one problem with the movie, and everyone who's seen it likely already knows what it is. I won't say because of spoilers, but yeah. Everything else, I fucking loved beyond any other movie this year.
When "Opera Fight" played, I seriously teared up and almost cried, just because of how beautiful it is.
The final part of the movie tore me apart, and while I went about grabbing the pieces, I fucking wept.
It's so fucking great.
Tumblr media
Honorable Mentions:
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever - 7/10
Bones and All - 7/10
The Batman - 7/10
The Kiyosu Conference - 7/10

realized that if i have a lot of thoughts on something and no one will listen to them i can put them on here!
So today I was thinking about animation. You know how people don’t respect animation as a form of entertainment or media? I wish I knew why because I feel like, if anything, animation takes a lot more effort than live action movies or TV does. Of course, that might not be true in all cases but in some it definitely is.
I assume that some of the reason animation is not respected as much is because it is often associated with children entertainment. But this is stupid because yes, children entertainment often is animated but it’s also live action! And! wait till you here this! There are animated adult shows! Family Guy?? Family guy has a bunch of awards and is a respected show. It’s stupid but adults respect it and watch it. But the moment there’s something that’s animated (that’s not some dumb show like Family Guy (no hate to Family Guy)) these people won’t even bother watching it.
Well then I started thinking about Super Hero movies. God. Marvel, DC, whatever, I’m so sick of it. I understand that fans of these franchises are sick of hearing this and it also doesn’t necessarily apply to every single super hero movie ever, but this genre is so played out! If you look at Marvel specifically, you have some movies that are good and fun but then you get to a point where every single movie is the same idea with big battle, we’re almost dying!, how are we going to win?, we have to use this weird ancient/alien technology to save the world! It’s boring now!
And then you have the hero repetition. Like The Batman. Sure you can say they made that Batman movie because there was a different villain or something like that but it’s boring! I don’t mean that the movie itself is bad or boring, I saw it in theaters myself, it’s just a boring concept (same with the Marvel movies, they’re not necessarily bad, just overdone and are boring concepts at this point). Further with this, why are there three Spidermans? And do not get this twisted. I love Spiderman, Andrew Garfield’s being my favorite, but why are there three? Maybe there’s a real reason but to me it just seems like an excuse to keep profiting on the popularity of Spiderman by bringing him back several times.
Further, I’m already finding the current era of hero movies to be (Mostly) insufferable but imagine what they will look like in the future! Years down the line what will they do? Keep making new Spiderman and Batman films (and don’t forget about the tv programs)? When will the next Superman come out? I can’t imagine.
I also want to make a point that I understand that DC and Marvel movies are based on comic books. My knowledge of how accurate the films are to the comics or how many of them are actually based on the comics is very limited. I mean was Infinity War in the comics? What about Suicide Squad? I genuinely have no idea. If they are, it really doesn’t change my argument at all. It’s still boring to have all these heroes with their stories get pushed down to be a constant retelling. Also, I’m not saying that a movie like Avengers is boring. That’s probably when it was good! But then the shit kept going! Like... That’s the repetition. It never concludes. It’s like when a show should’ve ended at like season 5 but kept going for 15. And I’m bored of it. Another point to make is that certain some new hero movies say, Black Panther, I wouldn’t necessarily fall into this category but, put the Black Panther cast into a movie with Iron Man (RIP I know), Thor, Black Widow, Hulk, Tom Holland Spiderman, Dr. Strange, and any of those other bitches in a big battle to save the universe...
Anyway, straying from the new, boring hero movies (Black Adam, Shazam, etc.), I started thinking about newer (kind of) hero movies that I thought were good and realized all three were animated. The three I came up with were Megamind, Lego Batman, and Into the Spiderverse. HEAR ME OUT! First of all, I’m not saying that Lego Batman is the best superhero movie ever made or that Megamind is better than the entire MCU or anything like that. Just listen to my thoughts here.
So first, Megamind. Megamind will never be taken seriously by everyone and I’ve already accepted that but it is a magnificent movie. It plays with the tropes of hero and villain so well. The entire concept of a villain beating the hero, getting bored in his victory and take over, creating a new hero so that he has someone he can have someone to defeat again, and in the end defeating him as a hero is insane! Completely flipping the idea of hero and villain like that is such a refreshing and entertaining thing to see. I’m so bored of seeing the repetition of some guy is a hero and has to face this big villain, whether the villain is human or not, and has to save the world or some shit. Seeing the villain become the hero is just so much more interesting! And it’s not like a Loki or Crowley (Supernatural) situation where viewers question whether they’re truly villains or not or see them as a good guy either way; Megamind was a villain but had a real change where he realized that he had to go in another direction.
Lego Batman is one that I will need to strongly defend here I’m guessing. I know I talked about the repetition of Spiderman and Batman yet two of my good hero movies are Batman and Spiderman? Well if we compare Lego Batman to the 2022 Batman with Robert Pattinson, I would argue that one of them is a lot more interesting. The Batman was a good movie, but it’s been done before. Even if it was a slightly different storyline or had some different main characters or something, we’ve all seen the basic Batman story. So why is Lego Batman different? Lego Batman sort of plays on the overplayed Batman tropes. So Batman is his usual foreboding, dark self, but at the same time it’s kind of weird in a way that sort of pokes fun at that part of Batman. They do the same with the other characters, like Robin and the Joker. It’s still Robin and Joker but they play with their characters, making fun of their relationship with Batman. I understand it’s for comedy, but the change of classic Batman characters and tropes make it a more interesting and entertaining Batman movie. Now I’m not necessarily saying that Lego Batman is better that any other Batman movie; I’m saying that, in this era, instead of making a basic, overdone Batman movie, Lego Batman provides a new interesting take on the Batman story.
And Into the Spiderverse. For starters it is different than the other Spidermans because it is not about Peter Parker, it’s Miles Morales. The whole concept of Into the Spiderverse makes it different than the other Spiderman movies. Toby Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland all have great Spiderman movies (like great movies, I love them) but isn’t doing something new with Spiderman and different Spider..people? crossing universes and coming together better than if they had just made a new Spiderman movie with Donald Glover or something? And that was not a dig on Donald Glover, I am an advocate for him in a Spiderman movie, Spiderverse sequel maybe??
And I know you’ve been thinking it. What about Spiderman: No Way Home? It was a great movie!! In the same way Spiderverse was but in a more nostalgic and cool way. Bringing the old Spidermen together with Tom Holland was a great idea and I’m glad they did it. 10/10 much more interesting than Infinity War.
So is this argument for animation or against hero movies? I guess I don’t know. I was just thinking about all these things and thought I’d write them down. Some closing thoughts: I am not saying that any hero movie is bad. I’m sure there are some bad ones but I am not saying that. I just think that the entire concepts and main plots of a lot of these movies are overdone and becoming boring. I’m also not saying that Megamind and Lego Batman are thee best hero movies. They’re some of my favorites but I wouldn’t say that they are undeniable better than most or anything like that. I guess my main point might be why is animation not taken seriously when some of the more interesting hero movies, which has become a draining genre, are animated? Of course that’s heavily based on my opinion but I was just thinking about it.

Top Gun Maverick a real review
Top Gun Maverick A Real Review
Top Gun Maverick was first released in theaters months ago. Now it is available for purchase online and for DVD sales. Since this is a video site about guns and not movies, I felt reluctant to provide a review. Top Gun Videos is what the title says and a site all about gun videos from top online creators. However, this movie was so good (especially compared to the mess Hollywood seems to want to make now) that I had to give you a quick review and a look at the trailer.
Top Gun Maverick is a great movie overall. There are a few things I dislike about it, but many more I do like than those few detractors.
First, let me share that I love good nostalgia movies. I enjoy when the script, directing, and acting honor the past. Top Gun Maverick does a great job with honoring the first movie, and really the timeframe that Top Gun represents. I enjoyed that the Millennium Falcon was smaller in scale in the new Star Wars movies as an example. It worked well because of how most of our childhood memories recall the scale of things. You saw the same scale effects in the recent throwback nostalgic take of the Shinning in Dr. Sleep (2019).
The nostalgia in Top Gun Maverick was better than these fun plays on scale. It honored the characters, actors, and themes from the first film. I really was appreciative that they have a nice scene with Val Kilmer’s character (Iceman). Many viewers will find it hard to believe how Tom Cruise appears. He truly looks young in the movie. It turns out being a very wealthy, eating well, and exercise can help you appear younger.
Maverick has a great cast. Not only did they honor their relationship with some key talent, they also have young actors like Miles Teller that do a great job. The film and its cast do seem patriotic and the movie has that positive feeling. One thing you will find odd is that the enemy in the film has no real world basis. You get great cockpit views, amazing energy in the flight footage, but no sense of the source of evil in the film. I get that we are in a global economy now, and they certainly want to sell the movie overseas. It just is a very odd feature of the film. It is a very conscious decision to try to avoid the attacks and arrows of the wacky mob today.
Here is a fast overview of the plot of Top Gun Maverick
After a 30 year career of service in the Military as a Top American Aviator, Pete "Maverick" Mitchell (Tom Cruise) finds himself back at Top Gun School, this time as an instructor. He must train a young group of top pilots for a special mission. This is when he runs into the son of his former Naval Navigator and friend Lt. Nick Bradshaw, aka “Goose.” Miles Teller plays the role of Lt. Bradley Bradshaw call sign: “Rooster,” who is the son of Goose and issues between the two men threaten to impact the mission.
I do not want to dive much deeper into the plot because I want you to enjoy the ride. This movie is much like an amusement ride. It has a steady pace and even a faster, more consistent pace than the first film. I think if it was not for the strange concessions in the plot I would have enjoyed this movie more thanks to that fast pace.
If you have not seen the original somehow, then watch that first. You could even make it a double feature movie night with the family. There are some adult themes, but the overall feeling of the movie is one that provides a moral theme. Even if that is, the good guys can still win, and that we as a Nation can still be great.
I would give this movie a must see designation and a 4.8 out of 5 stars. Making it clearly the best movie available for rent or purchase at this time. You can also pick up a copy of both as a box set or a special download deal.

SPIDERMAN: No Way Home
⚠️Spoilers⚠️
[TLDR at the end!]
A while ago I made a post about how I love when civilians or other people realize just how young their super hero is.
I ended up seeing a lot of that in the new Spiderman movie- specifically through the symbolism of LEGOs. Though, the people he saves realizing he's just a kid isn't new. When Tobey Maguire's Spiderman is revealed for the first time (Spiderman 2) on a train full of people he's just nearly died saving, the first words uttered are "He's just a kid".
Tumblr media
Dr. strange constantly says that he keeps forgetting that Peter is a kid. On top of that, Peter is the youngest Spiderman (at least out of the 3), and the other Spidermen keep trying to save him from going through the same things that they went through which caused them to become bitter or hardened. (Andrew Garfield's Spiderman saves Tom Holland's MJ, since he couldn't save Gwen. Tobey keeps Tom from killing the Green Goblin out of revenge like Tobey did to Uncle Ben's killer.)
There's more that could be said, but let's get into the LEGO symbolism, shall we?
In the first Tom Holland Spiderman movie, his identity is revealed to his friend Ned because they were going to build a LEGO Death Star together, but Peter's Spiderman duties got in the way.
Not to mention it breaks- shattering like his chances at a normal childhood. He was forced to grow up too fast & take on all this responsibility.
Tumblr media
This is a recurring theme in all Spiderman media, with Spiderman duties getting in the way of his life as Peter Parker. (This is especially prevalent in the Tobey Maguire Spiderman movies)
In No Way Home, Doc Oc asks peter if the LEGOs on the table are his, but he gets interrupted due to his Spiderman duties before he can answer, once again showing that Spiderman takes agency over his life.
At the very end of the film, once Peter has lost everyone he's held dear from his personal life, he goes out as Spiderman in a slightly new suit. However, before he goes out, he unpacks a single LEGO figurine from a box, and places it on his desk, before leaving it behind to be Spiderman.
Tumblr media
It once again signifies that he's just a kid with too much responsibility who never got to really be a kid between saving the word and losing everyone he loves. He missed out on a lot of normal teen experiences like parties, homecoming, etc in order to fulfill his duty.
TLDR; The LEGOs in Tom Hollands Spiderman films are a reoccurring theme that represent his youth/childhood. The LEGOs are always shown before his attention is diverted due to Spiderman duties. He has to sacrifice his childhood in order to fulfill his responsibilities as Spiderman.
I doubt this is anything new or groundbreaking, but I've been thinking about it a lot since I saw the movie & I appreciated the symbolism. I have so many theories for how the next movie is gonna go, but I'm also still emotionally devastated from No Way Home 💀 Yall I was crying so much in the theater- it was so embarrassing 😳
Anyway, I'd love to hear what you think whether it's about the LEGO symbolism, theories or other details you noticed 👀

pls share your brahmastra thoughts because i just saw the trailer and am feeling [eye emoji] abt it but cant pinpoint why. maybe it's the marvel aesthetic idk
SO MUCH dr. strange weird orange streams of light, which is just like. overdone. at this point.
Also, like, Ranbir Kapoor as the hero for this series is missing the mark by a fucking MILE! What everyone forgets is that RDJ pinned down the emotional mood and catharsis of the mcu phase 1-3 in a way that Ranbir can literally never manage. Dude tried to be emotional and deep and all that in ae dil hai mushkil and failed SO fucking badly it made me want to cry in the theater. He’s literally the definition of a romcom actor, and pinning the first movie in the entire franchise is A Bad Decision for anyone that wants there to be, yk, cohesion and depth to the acting, but that’s totes not what we’re going to be going into this movie for, so.....................
But then there's the fact that... I have faith in Karan Johar to weave a narrative? Raazi could have been SUCH a shitshow. Mission Mangal-- a movie for which I had so many higher hopes-- and even 83!!!--produced such jingiostic themes that I couldn't really enjoy any of it. But Raazi (while certainly not like... NOT nationalistic propaganda or whatever) does a decent amount of work in talking about the personal costs of patriotism by focusing on the individual-- which, yk, Karan's incredibly good at not losing vision of. So that's one good thing.
I also just. flat-out. adore. elemental magic. Fire/wind/water magic?? FUCK yeah that's good shit. The idea of astras and a secret society dedicated to protecting/using/preserving/destroying them is, undeniably, an amazing story. It's AtLA but modern. I love it.
Honestly, Hinduism has not been bastardized and shredded into pieces in avenues reachable for a less scholarly audience. Like, the debates and arguments about what it means to be a Hindu/to believe in that mythology/to learn that mythology are so so so locked away in a white tower that so few people ever actually get to access....... this is a good method by which to like.... desanctify that. Not that I’m depending on this movie to help in de-doctrinating Hindu fanatics, but it’s a step forward in the process of just fucking tearing the religion to shreds and questioning all of it: which can only be a good thing.
And there’s a lot of money being pumped into it??? Ig?? So the cgi (which, already, Too Much, but whatevs) is going to be nice to see.
Honestly my main problem with it is a) what it’s going to do to Indian cinema (which has already been fucked for a while, but this is a team-up of three studios, has a Marvel-level ensemble cast already, and promises to be a franchise, so.... indie films and even non-Hindi films are probs gonna be even worse off than they already are), b) the saturation of mediocre formulaic storylines in favor of appealing to the largest possible audience (like. say whatever you want about srk’s filmography, but it’s fucking varied) and c) the actual plot of this movie seems a bit crap, tbh (the trailer gives away WAY too much info, and Mouni Roy’s character is SO the generic female villain who wants power and doesn’t believe anyone telling her not to be prideful and reach too far aim too high etc etc etc, and FINALLY ofc there’s the fact that they chose to make him a DJ, which is not, yk, a bad decision (#NotAllDJs) but also I dated a DJ once and he was the worst fucking boyfriend I ever had so I just have a gut visceral dislike of DJs).

ayo firstly, i love thyne work. Secondly, maybe one where the reader has such a good memory for our internet culture/pop culture so to keep the others entertained they recite memes, songs, movies, and even summarize shows that the others forgot/never got to see, and AM finds himself more interested and hateful to humanity when he realizes how weird and stupid we are? Idk i just really wanna see AM invested in a sci-fi show the reader retells.
((Thank you! Hope it's okay that the reader is not already in a relationship with AM in this one. Spoilers for various old movies.))
"What was that thing where--?" Gorrister pumped his arms in some imitation of a dance.
"Gangnam Style?"
"Oh yeah!" Ellen laughed. "You couldn't go anywhere without hearing that!"
"I had that dance nailed down perfectly," Ted claimed. "Not that it was of any consequence, of course."
"That's what they used to call a humble-brag," you retorted, hiding a giggle at his boast.
"What were those things that someone used to say on the Internet and everyone would repeat them?"
"Memes!"
"Those got annoying after a while." Gorrister prodded the fire as a log fell over.
"How do you still remember all these things?" Nimdok asked you.
You smiled and shrugged. "I think there was a part of me that wanted to save all the human culture I could in my mind, so if aliens abducted me or robots took over and destroyed everything...well I guess...I could tell them about the experience of being human."
Gorrister chuckled. "Robots taking over." He looked up at the banks and circuit boards and lights. "Crazy thought ain't it?"
A hush fell over the group as Ted eyed the nearest speaker with a deliberate stillness.
"Do you think he's listening?"
"Probably organizing his files," Nimdok suggested. "It is Monday."
Also the first Monday of the month," Gorrister reminded grimly. "I expect he'll be rolling out his new 'schedule' for us soon."
You bit your lip. You had a strange idea.
"Well, while we have a little longer," you distracted the group again, "who remembers 2001: A Space Odyssey?"
Delighted agreement came from your friends.
"I saw that at the theater!" Nimdok reminisced.
"Everyone loved that computer," Ellen added. "Hal, was it?"
"Yeah, the audience forgave him for screwing up." You stole glances at your surroundings but pretended to be focused on the fire. "We liked him even after he killed those people."
Benny, who had been dragging a pebble through the dirt, looked up in alarm. Ellen put a hand on his shoulder as the group stared at you, unsure. They then looked up tensely.
You swallowed. "You know that guy in those movies who created Hal? Dr. Chandra?" You spoke solemnly. "I kinda wish he was one of AM's creators. Because he...you know..."
"He what?"
Even though you had expected the loud voice from the speakers, it still startled you quite a bit. Despite your plan working, it mesmerized you that AM would have any interest at all in your conversations.
"Because, um, he cared about his creations." You swallowed hard, wondering how your captor would take it.
There was a long pause, and you thought you heard a low hum of contemplation.
"You understand," he spoke again, "that humans are not actually like that."
You did not feel that arguing would get you anywhere with him, so you just looked at the ground. Still, the fact that you got AM to talk candidly with you was an amazing sign.
"How did it end?" He asked to your surprise.
"I think, uh..." You looked questioningly at your silent, wide-eyed friends. The answer finally came to you. "Hal ends up fused with Dave on the moon?"
AM snorted. "Humans are weird."
"Actually, we had something called that!" You perked up. "Those threads on Tumblr about what aliens would think about human behaviors that we find normal."
When he made an indecipherable sound, you explained. "Humans have quite the egos, you know. We like to know what other creatures think of us...even if it's not good."
He scoffed heartily. "Well, maybe you'll earn an iota less of hate if you share a few more of these tidbits."
"Tell him about the movie Tau!" Ellen spoke up, and the others cautiously joined in.
"Terminator! Maybe not."
"Star Wars!"
"Pokemon: The First Movie!"
"Creepypasta!"
"Star Trek!"
The afternoon was spent in the most lively discussion you'd had in many years. You would not have guessed AM to be the curious type, but yet--
"What's a tauntaun? What was Mewtwo going off to find really? Are any of you scared of Slenderman? Why does Tau ask so many questions?"
At different points he would claim boredom and declare human culture meaningless, only to return to the conversation with more questions.
"What is a starchild?" The computer asked instead of crushing you under a boulder.
"So who was phone?" He queried Nimdok rather than give him frostbite.
That evening a robot army marched after Ellen, but merely to collect information on Data.
And Gorrister found himself in front of a red light, outside a pod bay door.

Well I don't know if you heard or not that Venom 3 could only be about the Multiverse and Spiderman and not about the babies symbiotes like Sleeper for example, that many wanted including me too, maybe it could be just rumors but I don't know, the source that says that it almost always said the true things so unfortunately maybe it was just about Spiderman vs Venom and all that stuff.
Hhm. Personally, I don't think that Multiversal stuff is going to happen in Venom 3. But Spider-man is very possible, and it doesn't have to be a bad thing.
Buckle up, because this answer got LONG. I do love to ramble about this stuff. LoL If you want a short tl;dr answer, scroll to the bottom. 😅
Let's start with the multiverse talk.
I think that by the time Venom 3 hits movie theaters, the multiverse stuff will be a little over-used (or if not, it will have been the center stage to at least three major Marvel or Marvel related projects--No way home, Into the Spiderverse 2, and Multiverse of Madness. And that is aside from Wandavision and Loki, which will come into play in Multiverse of Madness, I'm sure. Setting yet another project in a theme of Multiversal shenanigans doesn't seem like a smart move, especially when they'd be playing in a considerably smaller turf with Venom (we all love Venom and it IS a high-grossing, super successful franchise, but Venom is the underdog in a Marvel stage, and I am sure Sony and Marvel are aware of this, and so it just doesn't seem likely). I personally don't think we'll see multiversal stuff at a grand scale as part of the story in Venom 3.
We might see repercussions to Eddie and Venom having seen another universe, though. In fact, I'm positive they will at the very least acknowledge their brief multiversal travel in Venom 3, and at most it will affect them in a world-shattering way, which could motivate them to search for their own Universe's Peter Parker/Spider-man. Now that we're speculating in this particular point, I'm going to go ahead and say that, because of the symbiote's presence and their bond, Eddie will remember Spider-man's identity is Peter Parker (the symbiote will remember, as their memories of Spider-man traverse across Universes; I don't think Doctor Strange's spell would have removed the symbiote's hive memories, therefore, Eddie will also remember by proxy) and it would be a missed opportunity for Sony to explore a Spider-man story with Venom.
Look, we all love our Eddie Brock and Venom symbiote as envisioned and brought to life by Tom Hardy, and the Venom movies do not necessarily need to have any involvement with Spider-man to sustain themselves as their own thing. But, there is a fact about Venom that we cannot so easily ignore, and that is the truth that Spider-man is a huge, huge thing for Venom. I think it's inevitable that at some point, our dear, quirky, adorable, dorky Venom and Eddie are going to have to fight Spider-man. Maybe they will be the villains, or maybe to their perspective they are the heroes and Spider-man the villain, but they will meet, and they will fight each other. Whether it is in a Venom movie or a Spider-man movie, it's going to happen, and after that mid-credit scene in Venom 2? No doubt about it. It's going to happen.
Here is where Andrew Garfield might come in.
I don't believe that there needs to be a multiverse explanation for the two to meet--I'm sure at this point they share the same Universe. You'd ask, why does Eddie not know a thing about Spider-man then, if they are in the same Universe? And the answer is super simple: Do we Know for sure that our Eddie doesn't know who Spider-man is? Eddie didn't react to Jameson's report, he didn't get a chance to before the scene ended--we only saw Venom's reaction. Eddie was drunk in No Way Home and was just trying to make sense of everything and his only starting point to make sense of anything at all was Spider-man, the Spider-man of that particular Universe, but apart from him saying "maybe I should go to New York and see this Spider-man" there's nothing indicating in that scene that Eddie doesn't know of a Spider-man from his own Universe. That scene doesn't reveal anything about whether or not Eddie knew of a Spider-man from his own world before all of this multiverse madness happened.
In fact, the only canonical connection our Eddie Brock has ever had to New York has been this scene from Venom 2018 when Anne and Eddie are talking at the restaurant: "We don't want a repeat of the Daily Globe incident. You were run out of New York, I don't want you to run out of San Francisco" (I'm paraphrasing, but Anne tells Eddie something like this). I wouldn't be at all surprised if it turns out this incident involved Spider-man in some shape or form.
So we have this to connect the dots:
1) Eddie Brock has been involved in an "incident" with the Daily Globe in New York, which resulted in him having to leave New York to continue working as a journalist. (<-This must have been a huge deal, so I really, really want to know what this "incident" was. If you ask me, here is the hook they need if they want to give Eddie Brock some beef with Spider-man. What if Eddie secretly blames this incident on Spider-man's involvement? Hm? It would even be accurate to the source material).
2) Spider-man does his thing in New York, where Eddie had some major, almost career-ending incident some time ago.
3) Andrew Garfield's Spider-man wants to fight an alien. (Hello! They wouldn't toss in that line if it was going nowhere).
4) They are very likely in the same Universe.
5) Spider-man vs Venom is pretty much inevitable, and we have a solid setup now, when we didn't have it before. (They will likely team up later to defeat Toxin, maybe? The setup is right there for all of this to happen now).
To ease the fears about the movie focusing on Spider-man, I will say this: Spider-man has appeared often in the Venom solo comics, but he is never the center of attention--these are the Venom stories, after all. (Maybe except that one time during the first Lethal Protector story, but it was brief lol). Spider-man will not come into Hardy's Venom movies to steal the show--he will appear as, first, an enemy (our babies are bound to have their asses kicked by Spidey at some point, I'm sad to say), and then as an ally. We don't need to worry about Spider-man stealing Venom away either--when Spidey comes into the mix, the bad water is already there between Spidey and the symbiote.
Lucky for us Eddie and Symbrock fans, the Venom movies removed the whole origin story of the symbiote feeling like Spider-man's spurned lover, and Eddie being ill with hatred towards Spider-man and becoming psychopathic and all that because of it. Yes, our Eddie still does have those dark, murderous tendencies, which I wish the movies would explore some more (the guy is ok with cannibalism as long as it's "bad guys", there's no world in which that's normal behavior), but Eddie and Venom's bond and the foundation of their relationship is not forged in this deep seated hatred of Spider-man. Their bond is forged in their mutual understanding and the similarities the two share. The love is there pretty much from the beginning, while in the source material, it took a lot for them to get there; to get to the point where they love each other and Eddie can even call the symbiote "my love". It's very unlikely that the presence of Spider-man will disrupt Eddie and Venom's love for each other and their relationship. It might shake it up a bit, but there's no way Spider-man is tearing them apart or representing a threat to their relationship in any shape or form, or “ruining” them in any way.
There is not going to be a black suit Spider-man storyline in which Venom will corrupt Spidey or anything like that. As I said, their bad water is already there, as Venom remembers all these things from parallel Universe versions of themselves. If anything, our Venom will be initially hostile towards Spidey rather than friendly and won't want to "go back" to him or suddenly prefer Spidey over Eddie. The symbiote's hive memories are enough for the symbiote to have a reason to want to fight Spidey or consider him a "bad guy", without having to go over that whole story again so that our Venom can live through it--the hive memories are enough. It’s not going to be as personal, but that is a good thing. We can remove all that drama and go straight to Venom vs Spider-man without it being a love triangle type of thing.
And for Eddie's reasons to want to fight Spidey, if my prediction is correct (remember this is ALL speculation) then Eddie's New York "incident" had something to do with his own universe's Spider-man. It had to.
I personally would love to see them become villains at some point, if at least briefly. I think it would be interesting.
Now, about Sleeper and the other Venom spawns.
While I love and wish with all my heart the Sleeper plot could be the main storyline for Venom 3 (we do have that pregnancy hint in the mid-credits scene in Venom 2) I don't think it's likely to happen in the live-action Venom movies, at least not yet. If anything, Sleeper might come in at the conclusion of the Venom movies. I think that might be a nice way to end things, with the revelation that they are going to be parents. But bringing in the child, at this point in the story where Venom and Eddie are at the very beginning of the relationship, and starting out as the Lethal Protector, it just doesn't seem likely that they will bring in their child and a storyline for Eddie Brock to become a father--I think movieverse Eddie and Venom have still a long way to go, and what I'd love to see in the third movie more than anything is them really exploring their relationship as a romantic love relationship. What it means to be in love with an alien creature who inhabits your own body, for Eddie Brock, and what it means to be in love with your host, for the Venom symbiote. I think it would be delicious to really go there and say "these two are in romantic love with each other and it's not all flowers and chocolates".
I'd love it if Tom and Andy went really deep into their relationship first, before bringing in their child and a parenthood storyline (but if they do, I will welcome it, because I do think there is a foundation already there with that midcredits scene to bring in the Sleeper storyline).
As for the other symbiotes like Scream, Agony, etc, unfortunately they were already dealt with in the first movie (it was loosely based on Lethal Protector 1993) so I don't think we'll be seeing them in the movieverse beyond what we saw in Venom 2018. They were unnamed, so it's not completely out of the question they will appear later. But it seems their origins were completely changed. Riot wasn't a venom spawn in Venom 2018, and instead was "a team leader" in their Earth mission, for example.
To finish these very adhd rambles in a tl;dr paragraph: I think the rumors might be close to the truth, but I don't think a multiverse plot will happen. I think it's a real possibility we will be seeing Spider-man in Venom 3, but I might be wrong, and it will happen in a separate movie event--Andrew's The Amazing Spider-man 3, where Venom could appear as the main villain, is a REAL possibility, especially with the hype surrounding Andrew's Spidey right now and Sony not being stupid to let that pass without doing anything. The set up is right there, and Venom has always been a villain at some point, even if later they become an anti-hero. Our Venom is more likely to always remain an anti-hero, but they could always become the villain at some point even if briefly. What I don't think is very likely, unfortunately, is a plot centered around Venom's babies (they already did with Carnage, there's that to consider, too) and while I wish we could see Sleeper 💚, I don't really see it happening any time soon. If anything, at the end of the Venom movie series. Because a parenthood plot might truly complicate things, especially if Sony plans on doing crossovers with our Venom, unless they do it like in First Host and adapt it well, with Sleeper leaving at the end to explore the cosmos. Who'd be Sleeper's host? There’s that too, for example. Sleeper can't remain caged forever. That is one of the complications of bringing in that storyline.

I remember now, (SPOILERS, incase anyone reading, also long I'm so sorry!) also I apologize for my English if it is confusing ;; hope it sounds ok.
I didn't like how there's hype for the toys only for the characters to not have much importance. Like Rintrah, I thought he'd be the one to sew the cloak's burn and have more lines atleast. And Sarah, I was not surprised but very disappointed that they did not made her native american, I would've been fine but they made a toy of her, got lots of theory of which Sarah she is only for her to die too quick, and Wong seem to be still ok at the end even when they showed they have romance subtley. Wish she would've been mordo's mother instead Then I would let it slide that she had a toy because then she would be maybe important since we still have our 616 mordo around. just a thought.
And there was a defender wong too in one of the key chains (sorry I just love wong) and was sad we didn't get atleast a second or so of him, but I am glad our Wong's still there. And wanda, I am a horror person and I love her and love the actress but after learning of wanda, I do wish they did not change her entire origin. Elizabeth has 7 more years in the mcu I believe, BUT my only hope is they do her better next time. that's all, since the mcu is going 'bit' comic acc, I really do hope they change or improve on her story a little more. If they do her better then I would be happy
I must say, I kinda think the theorists have a better story, understanding and thoughts about her on what would happen in their theories and I liked it better than what we got in the movie. but I still love it for Stephen since it is his movie and his character development. I am honestly torn, I love the movie so much but have such mix feelings. Stephen feels more human now and now I understand why nwh have to go first to show his development and I love them for that.
Now I hope dr strange 3 would be somewhat a lil better, especially now we have clea, hope he gets lovestruck of her. I don't read comics but I remember her because of you and all of your knowledge that I learned here. I almost screamed, kept myself tad quiet when everyone on theater is confused of who she is.
Now with what I love, I'm so sorry ;;
I am happy for xochitl, didn't like that many where bullying her when she's just 15 or so at the time. I was thinking of magik, sad we won't see her in the mcu. But I love America's character in the movie and the relationship they gave her with the two sorcerers. The reason why I brought up the what if comic is because the parallel of ss Stephen in the comic and Magik is close with each other, while in the mcu, Chavez is close with ss wong. And I found it really sweet, especially when xochitl is very close with Benedict wong. But I do hope she gets closer with Stephen too, now she got two dads!
I apologize so much that this is so so long! I didn't have anyone to share abt this properly because they either don't listen ;;
Hello, Wongrange CEO! Nice to see you around here again n.n
My friend @godofmagic and I were discussing about the characters that were hyped but ended up having one or two lines in the movie. He mentioned we were supposed to have more 30-40 minutes of screentime and this content was cut. This is why Rintrah and Sara even received Funkos but barely have any meaningful presence. Regarding Sara's heritage... I can't even tell if that Sara was supposed to be our Sara Wolfe, or even Mordo's mother. Her surname was never revealed, which makes things more complicated. So I really can't comment on that. But yeah, it's super odd, and the fact that they kept Sara and Wong's relationship as subtle as possible bothered me a lot as well. I can't help but feel like they saw a panel of Sara on twitter and went "yeah, let's use this character whose origins we know nothing about!" It wouldn't be a first.
Also Wong was really shadowed in this movie as well, but I can't even complain on that part because the very protagonist had to share 50% of the movie with the antagonist haha *pain* and speaking of her, I read that she wasn't very happy about Waldron's decision to massacrate the character, and I'll have to agree with her. I hardly think they will be able to improve her after she was whitewashed and had a completely different origin but eh. I don't expect anything from the MCU anymore. This is why I'm not disappointed with dsitmom =D I'm with you about the mixed feelings but at least they got Stephen right, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't Waldron's doing. I need him to stop writing for Marvel asap.
I really appreciate that you remembered me when Clea showed up! I'm always trying to push more people into comics so it's always a pleasure n.n
Xochitl's cast is indeed problematic because America is afro Puerto Rican (and I saw firsthand how it hurt a close friend of mine because they're also Afro Puerto-Rican), but it doesn't justify people going for a minor to harass her like that. People on the internet are always out of touch and it's really disgusting. And yeah, you're absolutely right! America and Stephen's relationship is very similar to Illyana's in What If? Magik and The End. Illyana is an adult now though so I'm not sure if they'd still work with this trope, even though I still see her as Stephen's daughter. Also I hate her character in the New Mutants movie pleaaase. But hope never dies!
And don't worry about sharing your thoughts, this is why this blog exists haha. I'm glad you feel safe to share them here. Thank you for passing by!

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Reaction/Review/Fix-It
Yes. Hi. Hello. It's me. I need to rant a little, I hope you don't mind.
If you enjoyed this movie, fantastic. Good for you. This probably isn't the review you're looking for. Let me make this clear, this is purely a way for me to vent about this movie, not to cause drama or debates. I know my opinion doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things but I feel a lot of things about this movie and I need to let it out before I combust. I've read a few reviews here and there are always a few people that say it's just a movie and to sit back and enjoy it.
However, after ten years of watching and enjoying the MCU, I've come to have certain expectations.
1. To root for the main characters and care about their well-being.
2. To root against and/or simp for the villain.
3. Appreciate the cinematography.
4. Fall in love with the score.
5. To have that giddy, excited feeling after leaving the theater and have such a vicarious adrenaline rush that I sprint across the parking lot with my friends while we yell at each other how much we loved the movie.
DSMoM gave me one of those. (it was #2, the latter half of number 2)
I'm gonna have this Reaction/Review/Fix-It in a couple different sections.
BACKGROUND (where I’m coming from going into the movie)
REACTION (my reaction as I watched for the first time)
PLOT REVIEW
CHARACTER REVIEW
FIX-IT (what I would personally do to fix this movie)
Warnings: Spoilers, of course. Possible profanity because idgaf. And, this is going to be long-winded because I have a lot to get off my chest. And a disclaimer, I am in no way a professional cinematographer or screenwriter, these are just my opinions as a regular viewer of the MCU.
BACKGROUND
I heard about DS:MoM (gods that's gonna get annoying, we're calling it DS2 from now on because I'm in charge here)
I heard about DS2 when it was announced in 2019. If memory serves me correctly, it was marketed as the first horror movie we would see in the MCU. I am not a fan of horror movies, that being said, I love the MCU. So, no matter what, I was going to get over my fear of jump scares and go see this movie.
Fast-forward a few years later, past the plague and to that one trailer that had Prof. X's voice in it.
I had just come off of watching NWH for the first time and the prospect of the X-Men melding into the MCU like Peter 1 and Peter 2 was fresh in my mind, so hearing my childhood hero's voice in that trailer made me cry and also very excited.
I'm not sure when I heard that Wanda was going to be the "villain" of this movie but I was immediately excited. I knew after watching WandaVision that whatever Marvel had cooked up for her was going to be gooooooddddd.
And then the movie came out. I tried my most bestest to keep away from spoilers but, two days after its release, I ran into my first spoiler on Tumblr. It was a review. A not so good review that I skimmed through. Confused by the author's rating, especially after seeing Dr. Strange in NWH and knowing that opening the multiverse, I was still undeterred. No offense to anybody here, but we can all be a little dramatic when it comes to Marvel movies. So, I continued about my day thinking one bad review wasn't going to be common.
And then I ran into another bad review. And another. So, I closed the app and moved to TikTok.
Where I got my second dose of spoilers.
I'll admit it right now, that's my bad but I was too entranced to look away. The first spoiler I came across was Wanda taking down Kamar-Taj and then infiltrating Kamar-Taj after scaring the shit out of America Chavez (and myself)
Instantly, I was in a better mood. I thought to myself, "Wow. This must be the grand finale. The final stand off. This is going to be dope."
And then I made the mistake of continuing to scroll. And I found out about Captain Carter, Reed Richards, Professor X, and how long they lasted.
I swore off social media until I saw it. I told myself I wouldn't let a couple bad reviews sway my opinion.
And then I watched the movie.
REACTIONS
Opening Scene: America Chavez & Ponytail!Strange v. Alien Octopus: Dope as hell. I was really excited when he betrayed her, I thought it would set up a tense relationship between 616!Strange (who I will refer to only as Dr. Strange throughout the rest of this) and America for at least the first half of the film. I also loved the infection thingy he got from the Alien thing. I thought that would come back to play (not in the way that it did tho)
Dr. Strange Wakes Up: Honestly, loved that bit. I loved that 'dreams were a pathway to their multiversal selves'. I thought it had a lot of potential.
Christine's Wedding: Meh. I don't care much for the romance subplot of Marvel movies but that's just me.
Wong & Strange v. Alien Demon Octopus: I really liked this opening. I liked the mistrust between America and him. Didn't like how fast she got over it but...oh well.
Strange goes to Wanda/Wanda Reveals herself as the villain: Personally, this happened too fast for me. I also had a hard time going from WandaVision!Wanda to DS2!Wanda. I know that there's probably a time jump here but it was a little too jarring. Also, her coming out as the villain right off the bat was just odd. I wanted that suspense of her manipulating Strange or her slowly being more and more corrupted by the Darkhold as she tried to help them.
Wanda Destroys Kamar-Taj: Well. The scene I thought was going to be the last stand happens, what? 30 minutes into the movie? Ok. Ok. This is fine. Everything's fine.
First Jump Scare/Wanda Breaks Out of the Mirror Dimension Thing: I...um...why? I know this is supposed to be a horror movie and Wanda is supposed to be all-powerful but, uh...the Grudge reference just wasn't for me. It felt out of place but maybe that's just because I'm not well-versed in the whole horror movie thing.
Also, real quick, what is up with the music box when Wanda is in the mirror thing? Am I missing a reference? Or were they just trying to be creepy?
Wanda Reveals her Motivations: When we last left Wanda in WandaVision, the Scarlet Witch was reading the Darkhold and heard Billy and Tommy crying out for help through the multiverse. Here in DS2, Wanda is able to locate all her counterparts and their children throughout the multiverse but not her own.
America and Strange Arrive in Earth-838: Fascinating transition between the multiverse. Still not sure if I liked it or not. 838 looks interesting. I enjoyed their scuffle with the vendor on the street. Didn't enjoy the memory projector thing, it made it too easy for them to gain insight into each other. Loved meeting Mordo again. His betrayal was dope.
Wanda's Dreamwalk for Two Seconds: Unsettling. Which, I guess it's supposed to be, right?
On the topic of this scene. What the hell is up with the 90s-style overlays while Wanda does the spell? That was the most jarring thing in this whole movie and literally the only thing I could think about for the next five minutes. And it wasn't a good 'think', mind you. It was confusion. Totaly, absolute confusion. It's like if you'd managed to teach a beginning video editor how to cut people out in premier and layer them over the top of each other. And then you let them work on an MCU movie. I...I just can't.
Moving on:
Back on 616: Probably the only character death I got a tiny bit sad at was the sorceress that was killed destroying the Darkhold.
Meeting 838!Christine: Meh.
Wong and Wanda on the Mountain: Meh.
Meeting the Illuminati: Dope. Dope. Dope. I have been waiting for so long for the X-Men to come into the MCU. They were my gateway superheroes, so to see one of them in the MCU was wonderful. I loved Reed Richards and Captains Marvel and Carter. I don't know much about Black Bolt so I didn't much care for his cameo but dope.
Killing 838!Strange: That one hurted a bit too. Honestly, I was more giggling at Prof. X's bright-ass yellow wheelchair in the middle of the battlefield to be paying attention to anything else.
Wanda Dreamwalks Again, Killing the Illuminati: I...feel like I got baited. Maybe, just maybe, this is where the movie really falls apart for me. They baited me into the theater with my fave characters only to give them 10 minutes of screen time before killing them off. And I know that Wanda is supposed to be this v powerful Nexus being but I would have loved to see the Illuminati put up more of a fight.
Mordo vs Strange: Probably my fave fight sequence in this entire movie and it was when neither of them had their powers.
The In-Between: The book of Vishanti literally lasts for like two seconds and then we're on a whole other quest.
Wanda Tries to Steal America's Powers: Listen, at this point, I'm rooting for Wanda. I don't feel a deep connection with America like I hoped I would. And I kinda wanna see Wanda destroy all of reality so this movie will end.
Meeting Darkhold!Strange: I don't even know where to begin with this scene. I don't even wanna begin with this scene. I wanna throw myself off a roof like Strange did with Darkhold!Strange.
Wong is Alive: Honestly, I didn't even blink when Wanda threw him off a cliff. Nor did I shed a tear. I really, honestly, didn't care. So when he came back, I also didn't care. Which sucks because he's arguably one of my fave characters.
Strange Dreamwalks using the Darkhold: The whole back and forth with Christine and the demons, again, I didn't care. I wasn't connected to her at all so I really didn't care if she got thrown around. I will say, I didn't expect that to be the way we got Zombie!Strange so kudos there.
The Final Battle Thing: Just a few words of encouragement from Zombie!Strange and America has complete control of her powers. Yay. How satisfying. /s
Wanda Destroys the Darkhold and Herself: Wow. What a creative way to kill the character that's been through literal hell in every movie she's in.
The Ending: Meh. Strange's third eye opening...meh.
Mid-Credit Scene: Who is this woman and why does she look like a villain from power rangers?
***I did google it and find out who she is. Meh.
End-Credit Scene: What in the Ferris Bueller shit just happened?
Now, I will say I was in a nearly empty theater. There were 20 people tops. And as soon as the credits started to roll there was absolute silence. There were a few, "What the fucks?" but other than that.
Silence.
Until my friend that went with me to the movie, who is also a massive marvel fan, leaned over and said, can we go now?
PLOT REVIEW
Before we get too far into this, I don't think I have ever, ever been this heated about a Marvel movie, not enough to actually need to vent about it. Most have at least some redeeming qualities. This one, however, I felt literally nothing about.
Now, let's back up to some of my criteria for at least a semi-decent MCU movie:
1. To root for the main characters and care about their well-being.
I did not care whether or not most of these characters lived or died. I really didn't. I didn't feel a connection with most of them.
2. To root against and/or simp for the villain.
As I said in the beginning. I love Wanda. She's the only character I really cared about in this movie.
3. Appreciate the cinematography.
No. Just no. It was like a weird fever dream where the weird outweighs the cool.
4. Fall in love with the score.
There was only one time I enjoyed the score and it was when Prof. X showed up and the original X-Men theme played.
5. To have that giddy, excited feeling after leaving the theater and have such a vicarious adrenaline rush that I sprint across the parking lot with my friends while we yell at each other how much we loved the movie.
We walked silently back to the car together as we tried to wrap our brains around what we just saw.
I honestly don't know what I was expecting. This was like a half-assed horror movie that really isn't even a horror movie.
I guess, after coming off of Dr. Strange's presence in NWH, I wanted a bit more. And I don't mean more cameos. If anything, we were given cameos we didn't need. I guess what I should say 'more'. I wanted better.
CHARACTER REVIEW//CAMEOS
616!Doctor Strange: Meh. I had a hard time connecting to the characters of this movie and it's not a good sign when it starts off with the main character. I would have loved to see a little more aftermath of Endgame and NWH with Strange. Yeah, we saw a bit in the Wedding scene but give me a little more. Make losing Tony, the one life to save the many in Endgame, the reason Strange wants to save America Chavez from Wanda. Make him have regrets. Make him feel more human.
Wong: This man can do no wrong and I love him. End of story.
America Chavez: I really, really wanted to love her the way I love Peter Parker. I wanted a mentor/mentee relationship between her and Strange.
Wanda Maximoff/The Scarlet Witch: I really wanted to see Wanda's already fragile mental state deteriorate more as this movie went on. In the sense that the Darkhold was actively corrupting her on a visible scale. I wanted to see her hearing things like she did at the end of WandaVision, I wanted the Darkhold to manipulate its user. Which, don't get me wrong, we got but I feel like we got an already snapped Wanda by the time the movie started.
***again I know there's a time jump between WandaVision and DS2 but I think seeing that on-screen would be so much more powerful.
Christine: Meh. That's all I gotta say. Sorry.
Mordo: I loved seeing him again, wish we could have seen more
Reed Richards: I was so excited to see him in the MCU. For the five minutes before Wanda sliced him up like a paper shredder. It was great. /s
Captain Marvel: I was so excited to see Maria as Captain Marvel. I wish we would have seen more of her.
Prof. X: I don't wanna talk about it.
Black Bolt: I don't honestly know much about this character. I thought his death was dope tho.
Darkhold!Strange: Meh. Who the hell is Donna?
We're gonna end this on one of the characters that's more controversial...for some reason
Captain Carter: I didn't mind her at all. I thought she was great. I've seen a lot of people freaking out bc she said Steve's line. To me, it was like her paying homage to him, especially if we take What If? into account.
Now, to get into something a bit different...cameos I wish we would have gotten:
Loki or Sylvie (but probably Loki): The breakers of the multiverse themselves.
Kang the Conqueror: Where's the variants of this dude hanging out at?
Agatha: Maybe not the OG holder of the Darkhold but, she's the first witch we've seen in the MCU and I think it would have been fun to bring her around to either manipulate Wanda or Doctor Strange or both.
Vision: You know? The other half of WandaVision? Where's he hanging out at? Does he have a multiversal self? Yes? No? I need answers!
FIX-IT
Now, the question none of you have been asking:
How in the world would Darke fix this? Great question, y'all. I'm so glad you asked.
Alright, the movie would start out the same. America and Ponytail!Strange running through the in-between. America is betrayed by Ponytail!Strange, thus making her skeptical/distrustful of 616!Strange when she meets him.
Strange wakes up from the nightmare, yada yada, goes to the wedding, fights demon thing, and reluctantly teams up with a spunky teenager from another universe, who can't control her powers, America Chavez.
Wong recognizes the runes, Strange goes to Wanda. Wanda plays it cool, she blames shit on Agatha. Wanda and Strange team up to hunt down Agatha. It's revealed Wanda can still hear her kids calling for help through the multiverse, which is why she's using the Darkhold to hunt down America.
Agatha is zero help bc she's been mind-controlled by Wanda. The two retreat to Kamar-Taj, getting Wanda closer to America.
The tense relationship between America and Strange continues. America thinks Strange will betray her. Strange thinks she's an inexperienced kid. Wong tells him she's just like him, he doesn't like that but while he's watching her train with Wong, he can see it too.
Right when they're on the cusp of a possible friendship, Wanda is pushed to attack by the Darkhold. She steals just enough power from America to jump across the multiverse to find Billy and Tommy, whom Strange doesn't believe are actually real. In doing so, America, Wong, and Strange are shot across the multiverse as well. They end up in 838 and are arrested by the Illuminati.
The Illuminati is introduced and the three are put on trial. After a passionate speech by Strange defending America, the Illuminati vote on whether or not to spare them. Most vote yes, while Mordo votes no, citing the fact that he knew Strange the best because he was his 'brother'. They also decide that they must band together to stop Wanda from causing an incursion.
Wanda arrives in the universe she keeps hearing her boys' voices. When she gets there it's quiet but she can hear them whispering. Thinking their hiding behind a creepy old gate she tears it open only to find...
Mephisto. (you know, the guy everybody thought Agatha was working for and who created Westview to fuck with Wanda?)
He'd been actively using the Darkhold to manipulate the Scarlet Witch in order to free himself from imprisonment (i don't know who imprisoned him just stick with me here)
Back on Earth-838, our 616 trio meet up with the variants of Wanda, Billy, and Tommy. Strange realizes that they are indeed real and some sentimental shit about friends and family, idk, that pushes them onward
Realizing she'd been used, Wanda attempts to get rid of the Darkhold and fight back against Mephisto. He uses the Darkhold to corrupt her mind further, enslaving her to him
The trio arrives at Mephisto's prison with the Illuminati. Upon their arrival, everything is revealed. While Wong and Strange attempt to find a way to bind Mephisto to this universe, the Illuminati and America go up against a mind-controlled Wanda.
Wanda easily cuts through the Illuminati and America finds herself 1v1 with the Scarlet Witch
While trying to find a way to stop Mephisto, Strange realizes that he can only stop the demon is with the Darkhold. Despite Wong's protests, he uses it.
America vs. The Scarlet Witch, though America is inexperienced, she manages to hold her own against Wanda for a while before Wanda gets the upper hand. In a last-ditch effort, as Wanda is about to strike the final blow, America uses her powers to open a portal that variants of Billy and Tommy step through.
Through the power of a mother's love, or something idk, Wanda snaps out of Mephisto's hold and returns to team good guy.
America and Wanda fight alongside Wong and Strange, joined by Billy and Tommy (Wiccan and Speed) and 838!Wanda.
Strange uses the Darkhold against Mephisto and binds him back in his prison. 616!Wanda destroys all the Darkholds throughout the universe with the help of America. 838!Wanda, Billy and Tommy return to their universe after an emotional goodbye from 616!Wanda.
Strange and America agree they make a good team. As Strange goes to thank Wanda, he finds that she's disappeared, imposing an exile on herself using America's powers she stole during their earlier brawl.
The trio return to Earth-616 and Strange begins training America.
Mid Credit Scene: It's revealed the Darkhold has infected Strange. He reveals his third eye and accidentally opens a portal to the Dark Dimension
End Credit Scene: Wanda is meditating in a universe that is going through an incursion, a place she can't hurt anyone. While she's meditating she has a vision of a man named Kang the Conqueror and she realizes that every universe is in trouble. But she's stranded in the universe she's in. She begins reaching back through the multiverse, trying to call for help

thoughts on MoM if you’ve seen it
Saw it yesterday morning with my husband for Mother's Day. Oddly fitting, LOL.
Thoughts under the cut and spoiler tagged.
Short review: I LOVED it.
Long review: Seeing Wanda go feral the way she did was, for me, a very "good for her" type moment. Marvel has not let that woman be happy for a minute, we've never known her to mentally stable or strong so the Darkhold having that hold on her and possessing her the way it did just... made sense. That flip in the beginning was jarring, from meek to mighty, yeah. It may have felt a little out of character but as Wanda said, it won't be Wanda coming for you, it'll be The Scarlet Witch. THAT is where the switch happened. She wasn't Wanda anymore. She was The Scarlet Witch.
The Dr. Strange stuff was boring to me and I found that I was just counting down until when we saw Wanda again, so in my mine, Elizabeth Olsen stole this movie. Wanda's pain is palpable, raw, desperate. Trying desperately to hang on to the one thing she thinks she can still have; her sons.
My only complaint really is that there was no Vision. He could have easily fit in just to get a glimpse of him maybe in other multiverses. Not so much for character revival or development but just to have him there. I think Paul would have done that. I wasn't expecting to see White Vision in this movie so I'm not bummed about that. Just that Vision wasn't in any of the multiverses when he easily could have been.
That said, his presence was still felt. The mentions of him, his general absence just felt.. huge. But I guess maybe that was the point, no? We see Wanda wake up in a big bed alone in the beginning. There were just moments where the ghost of him really felt like it was there.
Anyway, I see the criticisms and I can't say I fully agree with them, but that's me. We're all allowed to react to this movie how it feels necessary but for me, I loved it. I loved Wanda's transformation and desperation. It just proves a theory I had when Wandavision ended, that she never reached that acceptance stage of grief. Her hand was forced to destroy the hex, she said her goodbyes because she had to, but that never meant for a single minute that she had accepted any of it and would leave it alone. I never believed that for a second.
Anyway, yes. I loved it, I left the theater pumped and happy with what we got and am hopeful for the future of Wanda's arc and where they can go with it now. The possibilities are endless, same with White Vision.
What are your thoughts? Feel free to send them my way.

Have you guys seen any good movies lately? Or excited for any upcoming movies? The only ones I’ve seen lately were Lightyear and Elvis. Tbh, I only saw Lightyear because of Chris and thought it was underwhelming. Not bad, but just okay. I absolutely loved Elvis and thought Austin Butler gave one of the best performances I’ve seen in a musical biopic in recent years. For upcoming movies, I’m interested in seeing The Gray Man, Ana in Blonde, and Where the Crawdads Sing. But so far, Elvis has been my fave movie I’ve seen in the theaters recently.
I haven’t been to theaters since Dr Strange 2 came out 😬 I still need to see the newest Thor movie. I’m really curious to see what audiences say about Jordan Peele’s Nope. It looks interesting, but I’m a weenie when it comes to scary movies, but I like that all of his movies a fresh and creative ideas 🦎

Lo and behold, HERMANN is the one with a long list of hunky ex-boyfriends (and it drives Newt a little nuts)
a req sent in by @k-sci-janitor and filled TIMELY ENOUGH on their BIRTHDAYYYYY 🎉🎉🎉🎉 s/out to them for discussing this fic concept w me months ago and also today 👀
-----------------------------
It’s a relief to find out Hermann is gay. It’s not even because of Newt’s weird, repressed feelings for the guy—though he admits it’s equally a relief to know that he’s not barking up the wrong tree entirely. The thing is that Newt’s really not sure what he would do if Hermann wasn’t. Hermann has the distinct honor (displeasure?) of being Newt’s only friend in the Shatterdome, after all; this means aside from usual friendship duties (sitting with Newt at lunch, listening to him complain about his day, allowing himself to be dragged along to bars and movie theaters when they finally have a second to breathe), he’s also the person Newt goes to with tales of his romantic conquests (not that he has any), requests for dating advice (not that Hermann has any), and reassurances that whoever Newt has his eyes on that week is hot enough for him (could they ever be?). It’s just, like, easier to do that kinda shit with someone who would also be (hypothetically) eyeing up and dating dudes, if Hermann ever managed to take the stick out his ass and relax long enough to do stuff like that.
Hell, Newt would be first in line if he ever did. As it is, he just has to settle on knocking knees with Hermann under the mess tables and—for lack of a better phrase—checking the latest batch of ranger hopefuls out. Newt doesn’t normally go for the tall, built, and athletic type, but Shatterdome transfers are usually the only way he can score a date, because all the seasoned personnel know to avoid the weirdo biologist in the basement by this point. There’s a war on; desperate times call for desperate measures. Newt hopes at least a handful of them are desperate.
“He’s kinda hot, don’t you think?” Newt says under his breath to Hermann. He jerks his thumb over his shoulder at one of the new ranger trainees in line for soup behind them. He has dark hair and a nice smile, and—more importantly—Newt’s sure he’s been making eyes at their table for the better part of five minutes. He’s one of the latest batch that has only just arrived two weeks prior, and the smallest batch by far. Not many people are enlisting in the PPDC these days. Bad for the state of the world and Newt’s libido.
“Hm?” Hermann says.
“The guy behind us,” Newt says. “No, don’t be obvious about it—”
But Hermann turns, conspicuously, so (deciding it can’t get any more awkward than it already is) Newt sighs and turns with him. The dark-haired ranger notices: his smile hitches up an extra centimeter, and he winks.
At once Newt feels his ego swell. He winks back. “Still got it, dude,” he crows to Hermann, and is just rising from his chair to swoop into action when he realizes something; the ranger was not making eye contact with Newt. He was—and is—making eye contact with Hermann.
Hermann scoffs. “Oh, please,” he mutters to Newt. “If he thinks that’ll get him invited over again—”
But the ranger is abandoning his spot in line and jogging towards them, smoothing down his hair as he goes. He’s brimming with a palpable mixture of excitement and anxiety. “Hey, Dr. Gottlieb,” he says. “So, uh, last week was pretty fun?” It’s an invitation for approval, one which Hermann ignores in favor of jerking his shoulders noncommittally. The ranger presses on anyway. “It’s cool to see you. Haha. I, uh, just wanted to make sure you have my email, in case you want to get together again.”
“I have it,” Hermann says.
An awkward tension settles between them. Newt clears his throat in hopes of diffusing it, and the ranger’s eyes dart over to him. “I’m Newt,” Newt says. “Hermann and I work together.”
“Cool,” the ranger says. Disinterested. “Anyway, Dr. Gottlieb, I’m free whenever, so?”
“Yes, I’ll certainly email you,” Hermann says. He picks up his dinner roll and begins to spread butter over it, not bothering to look up when he adds “Lovely to see you again.”
The guy nods, and hurries back over to his friends, who begin debating something with him in hushed voices. Twice the group glances back at Hermann. Hermann’s—uh—friend seems to be blushing. Hermann begins to butter the other half of his dinner roll. “What the hell was that about?” Newt says.
Hermann sets down his roll and furrows his eyebrows. “What do you mean?”
“That,” Newt says. “Who was that guy?”
“Oh,” Hermann says. “Him.” He rolls his eyes, and to Newt’s alarm goes pink in the cheeks. “We had a, ah, a date, I suppose you could call it, last week. He turned out to be a bit rude, actually, not the very, er, courteous sort. Attentive. Or at least not as courteous as I like. You know.”
“I don’t,” Newt says.
“You know,” Hermann repeats, with more force on the know. His pink blush spreads down his neck. “In the—coupling—sense.”
“You hooked up with him?” Newt says, too loud. A few heads swivel in their direction, including Hermann’s quote-unquote date and his friends; Hermann whacks Newt in the shin with his cane, clearly mortified.
“Keep your voice down! I don’t want the whole bloody Shatterdome to know, do I?” Hermann hisses. “Yes, I had sex with him. I do occasionally take time to enjoy myself.”
Newt stares at Hermann in amazement. Hermann hooks up? Hermann hooks up with hunky guys? Hermann hooks up with hunky guys and then ghosts them? “I didn’t know,” Newt says. “That you…did that.” Months and months of talking about his shitty love life to Hermann and Hermann has never once bothered to volunteer information of his own. Newt always just assumed Hermann had put his emotional (and physical) needs on hold for the sake of the war. Apparently not.
“You never asked,” Hermann says. “Is it important?”
Yes, it is. Newt shakes his head. The rest of their dinner is quiet and without any further interruptions. It’s also without their usual bickering, though, which makes it feel oddly lonely, and when Newt gets back to his bunk that night, he can’t help but wonder what else he hasn’t discovered about Hermann yet. Or, really—what about Hermann’s love life he hasn’t discovered yet.
A bouquet of flowers arrives for Hermann at the lab a week later. Newt is the one to take the delivery, Hermann being too absorbed in his calculations and boring graphs, and also because Newt is harboring a secret hope they’re for himself from a secret admirer. No such luck. To Dr. Gottlieb, the heart-shaped label proclaims in pink cursive, and a few sentences of the sappiest attempt at poetry Newt’s ever seen follows. Love, Pedro. Newt smirks through a suffocating wave of jealousy, whether to be the one giving or getting the flowers he’s not sure. “Hey, Hermann,” he calls across the lab. “Your boyfriend getting persistent. Want me to stick these in water for you?”
Hermann grumbles something, then says “Boyfriend?”
“From the mess the other night,” Newt says. “The uncourteous one.” Newt double-checks the note. “Pedro. His heart is yearning for you, Hermann. Listen to this—”
But Hermann scoffs loudly before Newt can even start on the poem. “Don’t be daft,” he says. “That wasn’t Pedro. That was Jason.” He scribbles over something on his chalkboard and starts again on the line below it. “And Pedro is hardly my boyfriend—it was only dinner.”
“Dinner?” Newt squeaks.
“And drinks,” Hermann says.
“You’re seeing another guy?” Newt says.
Hermann finally turns around. “Does it matter if I am?” he says.
“Yes,” Newt says. “No? I don’t know?”
“I’m a grown man, Newton,” Hermann says. “I date. You ought to try it yourself—it does wonders for the nerves.” When Newt is clearly still unsatisfied, Hermann sighs. “I met Pedro on an errand to LOCCENT last month, and I found him charming. You’d recognize him—you actually, er, caught us in a bit of a compromising position the other night. Remember?”
Newt frowns. He hasn’t caught Hermann with anyway in any compromising situations recently—the only thing he can think of that could be considered remotely embarrassing is when he stepped out into the hallway the same time Hermann’s physical therapist did, and they ended up bumping into each other. But that was—oh, God, Newt’s an idiot.  “That was him?” Newt says. He just assumed anyone stopping by Hermann’s room after work hours would be there for physical therapy, okay? And there had been a lot of…noise. Well, he’s not going to think about that now. “But he was so hot! Do you only date, like, hunks or something?”
“Really, Newton,” Hermann says. “You’re making yourself upset over nothing.” The corner of his mouth twitches up. “Though one of my old ex-boyfriends did become an underwear model…”
“Dude,” Newt says, and before he can help himself, blurts out “Shit, maybe I should start going to the gym.”
Hermann gives him a strange, searching look, and Newt immediately clamps his mouth shut in horror. He’s really gotta start working on his brain-to-mouth filter. Or at least work on not sticking his fucking foot in it every five minutes. “As I said,” Hermann says, cryptically, and turns away (apparently satisfied with whatever he saw in Newt), “you’re making yourself upset over nothing. I hardly find the need to limit myself to ‘hunks’.”
“Uh,” Newt says. “Right.”
Whatever that means.
