The Jock Stereotype Reversal and The Voice of Reason

No one knows how much I love this drone. My view of him never shifted so fast either.

Look, the moment I saw this sports man, I instantly thought he would be a stereotypical jock.

And the whole thing where he complimented Uzi and she got all blushy, it made me think I would hate this drone.

Jock idiot crushes aren't a type I like.

But after his last scene in the episode, I got his personality a bit more. Revisiting his initial scene made me love him more.

One of his first things he says is actually being careful with what he says. He says, "I'd say everyone knows Khan's daughter, but then you might blow the other half of her face off."

He actually made sure to not make her mad about something he wanted to say.

He asks her about her new item and she gets excited and rambles about her plans for the day. And she does shove the gun in Thad's face, scaring him a bit, but he calms down a bit as he listens to her little speech.

He even makes a little nod as she speaks, which does indicate he is paying attention to her before he comments on what she says.

When her plan settles in Thad's mind and he realizes it sounds dangerous, he tries to let her know that it doesn't sound safe. But she doesn't take it lightly.

Also, I do like how Thad doesn't seem scared about a gun in his face a second time. He just instantly got used to Uzi's energy.

His next scene where the Murder Drones got into their safe place, he is the only drones willing to fight them in the group. Even though he is clearly hurt

And he even tries to get the "adult" drones to do their jobs and defend [well more be on the offense], but it doesn't work.

He is nearly killed by a drone before Uzi and N come back to save them and defeat the murder drones. And he's just so happy and compliments the two of them, even though he is nervous around the Murder Drone.

I feel like the stereotype of a jock would try to say he could have been fine without their help when they clearly needed it, but this guy is grateful for the duo saving him.

He's also the only one of the group here to say something nice to either of them, while everyone else is quiet; past the initial clapping. It lets you think he is more open to being nice [definitely more than Liz /lh].

In the next episode, he has an even bigger role with the main characters. He helps Uzi out by grabbing her gun from the safe spot last episode, despite being nervous to hold it.

But I do like how whenever she rambles, he just patiently waits for her to finish.

He also compliments the two of them again for saving him. Even though they are his saviors as he calls them, he talks to them like normal drones and has even given them nicknames. N is "N and M's" and Uzi is "Zi"

The big thing I noticed while watching this episode again, and it's that Thad almost acts like a voice of reason to Uzi.

Uzi self-banished herself from home to live on the outside and she even monologues about how she 'can never go back' which clearly shouldn't be what she should do.

Her being on the outside makes sure she has almost no drone interaction. And the only two are Murder Drones, one that keeps trying to scare Uzi away and the other Murder Drone that is only willing to go with whatever Uzi does and won't go against her ideas at this point.

Thad is the only worker drone that she interacts with before she 'un-banishes' herself, and he was the one to get her back.

He informs her about what is going on at home, how the drones seem to not be taking her banishment seriously. But he does go for the side of their home saying they are just "..more confused". Which is understandable, no drone ever seemed to try and banish themselves before.

The main that he says that convinces Uzi to get back home is talking about a topic she is involved with but scares him, the murder drones.

Thad talks about missing drones and the corpse of a drone 'crawling away' which encourages Uzi to come back.

Most of the following scenes have Thad following Uzi with her plan, which is interesting. He obviously is scared about things with the murder drones - besides the one that saved him -, but he comes along with her investigation around the killed murder drone.

Whether he does it so make sure she's safe, or keep her in 'check' like he has been, or because he feels like helping his saviors; he comes along.

Then he gets captured by the almost rebuilt corpse.

When the corpse tries to fool the two with a hologram of Thad, they don't fall for it for a second. So they definitely seem to know about Thad a lot like a friend.

They save him and he is instantly complimenting them, inviting them to a party of his. Seriously, he calls them his saviors and he just still treats them like friends and not superb heros.

I also thought it was fun he called them cool kids by insulting the corpse for not being invited since "Cool kids only" will come to his shin-dig.

I do hope we see him again a bit more, but he does seem stuck in the side character role these last two episodes that are out. n^n

Currently, Jimmy is live, and while he may not be live until then, I doubt he would be streaming if he was in it. Martyn is also streaming at this time. "I'll join you!" He insisted, grabbing his lab coat off the chair and putting it on. "Let's stay on the main roads. I'd hate to see the poor thing get attacked the moment it hatches."

"I concur." Nodding, you slipped the egg inside your bag, before seeing your Arcanines waking up and running over to you both. They must've wanted to accompany you--which was understandable given you had their egg. They didn't want it out of their sights.

And so the four of you began the long stroll, with him reading a pacemaker on his rotomphone to count the approximate steps necessary to hatch the egg. He was curious to see if it'll come out the same as other Growlithes..

Or maybe it'll be a Shiny.

He's heard of that phenomena too--where it's possible to hatch a Shiny Pokémon if its parent is paired with a Ditto. That was a popular method in the daycares of other regions.

But here? You'd rather not wait all day for a dozen eggs to appear.

The odds of that type of Pokémon hatching were still low regardless, so you're not pushing your luck.

After feeling like you've been walking for ages, you heard Jacq suddenly stop, and you looked back at him. He was observing the readings on his phone, eyebrows furrowed. "What's up? Is your Rotom being annoying?"

"Oh no, it's working as intended. It's just...we've already walked over a thousand steps. Why, we're nearly at two thousand!" He glanced up at you. "Did you feel the egg stir at all?"

"Hmm..no, oddly enough..." Being equally confused, you took it out of the bag to make sure it was alright. It felt warm to the touch, though for it not to crack yet was bizarre. "Maybe it's nervous to come out." You joked. "Let make it to two thousand and see what happens."

Nodding, Jacq caught up to you, still monitoring the steps you took before it finally happened-

The egg suddenly jolted in your hands, startling you as you quickly and carefully set it down on the ground. "It's time!" You backed up, standing beside him.

As its shell cracked, beams of light began pouring out from it, and both of you waited in anticipation.

Then it completely burst open to reveal...

Not one, but two Growlithes born from the exact same egg. And if that didn't surprise you, it was the realization that they're both Shinies as well.

Their yellow fur emitted starlike sparkles as they took their first breaths of air, taking a moment to sniff one another. Only then did they notice the two Arcanines who approached them, being just as surprised as their trainers.

With yips of excitement, the little Growlithes ran over to their parents, greeting them with loving nuzzles and licks.

Meanwhile, you and Jacq were standing there, still in total shock.

"I-I can't believe it.."

"D-Did...two just hatch from one egg?! In all my years of research I've never heard of this happening! This is incredible!" The biology professor laughed, before going over to examine the newborn Growlithes.

And he kneeled down, he took a look at their stripes, making another surprising discovery before beckoning you over to him. "[Y/n], come look..their stripes are the exact same pattern!"

"Really? Oh, wow.." You joined his side, smiling as one Growlithe jumped into your arms and licked your cheek. "Haha! This is great! What are the odds that our Arcanines would rear twin Shinies?"

"It has to be astronomically low, but not impossible." He chuckled, petting his Arcanine's snout. "Arceus itself must've blessed you with luck, because this is phenomenal!!"

"Yeah." Smiling, you stood up and ruffled the fur of your own Arcanine, happy to see them becoming official parents. "You ready to start your own little family, bud?"

"Arc, Arca!!"

“Could you come over to Scarabia later tonight?” Kalim asked, eyes shining as he grabbed your hands.

“Why? Do you want to study or something?” you asked, squeezing his hands as he bounced on the balls of his feet.

“No! I want to throw a party in honor of us getting together! I’ve liked you forever and I’m just so excited that this is finally happening! Like, I’m finally with you! I can hardly believe it!” he laughed loudly, pulling you into a hug that nearly broke your spine.

“Okay. You don’t invite too many people, okay?” you agreed, watching him nod enthusiastically with a stuttering heart.

“Of course! Thank you thank you thank you!” Kalim planted a big smooch right on your cheek before he ran into his next class, leaving you flustered in the middle of the hallway.

That’s how you ended up here, in the same Scarabia dining hall you’d been in many times before, this time with even more people now that your friends and the entire dorm were invited. You were having fun at first, especially with Kalim doting on you. Now that you were officially dating the Housewarden, Grim was spared the cracker treatment now that it had been passed onto you. Kalim kept passing dish after dish after dish for you to try, all with a beaming smile. They were all phenomenal, a true testament to how good Jamil’s cooking was. You were so anxious about coming to the party beforehand—so anxious, in fact, that’d you seriously considered not going in favor of staying back at Ramshackle Dorm. It was only when Kalim showed up to your dorm on his flying carpet, wearing his dorm uniform that you made up your mind. He was gentle and understanding as you explained your situation and why you weren’t exactly ready yet, even going so far as to ask if the party needed to be postponed.

“I could tell something was wrong when I saw you peeking out the window like that...usually you pull the curtain completely aside, but that time you were hiding most of your face. I’m glad it’s not because you’re in any danger though I wish you weren’t feeling anxious about this either.” he mused, tapping his chin thoughtfully, “I can help you get ready! I’m sure Jamil wouldn’t mind if we were a bit late.”

You were about to make a comment about how Jamil would probably be worried about him, but Kalim had already made up his mind.

“Yeah! Come on, I’ll help you get ready.” he yanked you into Ramshackle, rattling off a bunch of outfit ideas that you’d worn around him that he liked.

You just let him pull you along, your stomach twisting in knots as he put together outfits he thought you might like. Wracking your brain for the best possible outfits so you’d make a good first impression, you picked the one you like best and Kalim bolted out of the room to let you change. Once you were finished, he helped you with the jewelry you selected to go with the outfit, and even pinned a brilliant red flower pin in your hair. He kissed your cheek once he was done and then you were off.

You brushed your fingers over the flower pin, wondering how luxurious it was. Kalim had already spared no expense with this party of his, the decorations and food somehow more expensive looking than they’d ever been before. You knew his intentions were to make you feel important, but it only made you feel like you needed to act more proper. Did you put your form down wrong? When was the right time to eat? Did people think your posture was weird? No one was even paying attention to you besides Kalim, your friends, and Jamil as he occasionally exited the kitchen to make sure you were doing already.

You had a feeling he’d already picked up on most of your thoughts.

“Are you alright?” he murmured, setting down the refill you’d asked for.

Speak of the devil. You felt really guilty asking him for things, but he’d assured you that it was no problem. It’s what he was there for, he said. You wished you could hide away in the kitchen for a little while.

The room only seemed to be getting louder as Kalim stood up upon seeing your friends, rattling off some speech to them about how the two of you got together. Normally, you would have found this sweet, but the world was starting to spin around you at the added noise. He was holding your hand tightly and you could feel it getting sweaty, and it was only when you squeezed him tightly that he looked over at you. The conversation with your friends was immediately dropped upon seeing the expression on your face.

“I want to get away for a bit. Please.” you said, taking your hand out of his and sitting there awkwardly.

You hoped that didn’t offend him.

“Oh! Of course, would you like me to walk with you? I’ll take you to Jamil! The kitchen is nice and quiet so I think that would help.” he beamed, offering you his hand again when he stood up, “Nobody will even notice we’re gone, don’t worry. No one is looking at you.”

Relief surged through you at his reassurance. Once you were standing next to him, he placed his hand on your lower back and slowly pressed you in the right direction. His other hand had grabbed yours and was rubbing comforting circles on the burning skin.

You didn’t say anything until you made it out into the hall.

“I’m sorry.” you apologized almost immediately, “I’m sure you’ve put so much time and effort into this and it looked so beautiful but knowing it was all for me was a bit overwhelming. I’m sorry. I’ll try to be a little better next time.”

“What are you talking about? Even I get overwhelmed sometimes.” Kalim’s brow furrowed with worry, “So you don’t have to apologize, okay? I could tell you were nervous at Ramshackle so I’ve been keeping an eye on you, but I’m glad you told me.”

“Did...did you at least have fun?” you asked, unable to meet his gaze.

“Of course I had fun! I got to watch you try the desserts Jamil makes, and I got to see you eat a ton of dishes from my childhood, and you even tried my favorite coconut milk! I had a lot of fun with you.” he pressed a kiss to your forehead, patting your shoulder affectionately, “I’m happy you came here with me but you never have to. If it’s ever too intense, we can always hang out at Ramshackle. Or we can ride with Carpet! The possibilities are endless!”

You pulled him into your chest, hugging Kalim tightly. He hugged you back, giggling as he swayed on the spot.

“Thank you for telling me you were uncomfortable.” he murmured, kissing both of your cheeks with a smile, “Now let’s go check on Jamil! Once we’re done with that, I can take you into the sky and we can go to Ramshackle! I hope Grim will be happy to see me, maybe I should bring him some tuna...”

“You should.” you replied softly as Kalim began tugging you along again, nodding enthusiastically at your approval.

“One order of tuna and kisses for Grim and the Ramshackle Prefect!” he beamed, turning to face you once again.

Before you could ask what he was doing, Kalim kissed your forehead again.

“I’ve got you, Prefect. I’ll always catch you when you fall!”

Spooky Month: The Dating Sim

Part 9

(I'm mainly just doing this because it's fun to watch, but this is basically a spooky month interactive thing/poll which is kinda like a dating sim. Of course, only the adult characters can be your love interests. So do take that in mind.)

(By the way, since it was a tie, I'll be mixing the two options that were chosen. And other thing, I added the fourth option on the poll as a joke, I swear. /lh)

You decided that you would offer emotional support.

You told him to not worry, and that you were certain things were going to be okay.

"Huh?" The man at the counter said, arching a brow as if he wasn't expecting for you to offer such emotional support. "U—Uh.. thanks, dude!" A smile formed on his face. At the very least, he seemed to be feeling a little bit better thanks to you.

You then thought for a moment. What else could you do to make him feel better?

...

You.. you wanna fix the projectors yourself? You.. you don't even know this guy that well. Why are you—

...

Alright, alright. Fine..

You then decided in your mind that you would attempt to fix the projectors for the sake of some man you barely knew.

Without a word, you hurried off to one of the corridors, and rushed to wherever the first movie room would be. You could hear the man's voice calling out to you from behind, "Wha—dude? Where are you going? He—Hey!"

Ignoring his frantic pleads for you to come back, you went into the first movie room you saw, and rushed into the darkness of the room. Despite the eery silence, you rushed up the stairs, and headed up to where you thought the projector would be. Eventually, after turning and twisting in different directions, you found the room in which the projector was at.

You.. you then began to somehow fix the projector. You.. don't even know how to fix a projector. How—how are you doing that? That's horrifying—how are you doing that?!

Then, after what seemed like minutes, you managed to fix the projector. But of course, you weren't done.

You then rushed out of the projector room, and headed out. You ran down the stairs of the movie room, and then began to go to another movie room. And so, this process began to repeat. You would go into a different movie room, you'd find the projector, and then you'd fix it.

It went on like this for what was most likely an hour, until you finally fixed all of the projectors in the first corridor. But of course, you still had the second corridor. So, rushing out, you began to head for the second corridor. You passed the man at the counter as you did. For some reason, he hadn't even moved a muscle. You could feel his gaze upon you as you ran past.

You could only assume he was talking to someone who just walked in, for he then said aloud, "Look.. I don't even know what they're doing. Just don't ask, dude."

Ignoring this, you went to the second corridor, and began to repeat your process. Movie room, projector room, rush out once done. Movie room, projector room, rush out once done. Movie room, projector room, rush out once done.

Then finally.. you finished. You finished fixing all of the projectors in the second corridor, without any mechanical experience whatsoever. Honestly, as the narrator, I don't even know how you did that. But it's honestly both horrifying and impressive, so props to you. I'm glad that you can't see me, otherwise, I'd try to be miles away from you.

You then rushed back to the counter, panting. You were out of breath at this point, and you felt as if you were going to collapse just standing there. Your legs wobbled from side to side, and you could feel the man's gaze upon you. "Wh—Whoah, dude! What did you even do?". You could hear the door closing behind you, and you assumed whoever was talking to the man must have left by now.

You answered between gasps that you had fixed the projectors.

The man's eyes then widened in shock. "Wh—What?! You—you fixed them?!"

You nodded, still panting.

"Du—Dude.. you didn't have to do that." The man said, raising his hand.

You said that you knew, but that you didn't want him to feel bad. And that it didn't hurt to help someone in need.

You then looked up, and blinked. The man was beginning to smile. You could see behind his glasses a glimmer of happiness in his eyes, and his lips curled upwards. It was the happiest grin you had ever seen on someone's face in your life before. And that was certainly saying something.

"Wo.. Wow! Dude.. I.. I'm gonna have to tell that guy that he doesn't.. heheh.. oh my.. dude! Thanks so much!" He seemed to have no words, for his happiness was dwelling within him. You began to think that had you been standing any closer, he would have hugged you out of sheer happiness.

He then lowered his hand, and with a smile, he asked softly, "..what's your name, man?"

Bakugou always goes to sleep first. He has early bird dinner, takes a five minute shower, and goes to bed the second it turns 8 pm. And he get up 30 minutes before he has to leave for whatever he has planned for the day.

Deku gets like 6 hours max. Goes to sleep at 10 pm, gets up at 4 am, goes for a 2 hour jog, showers, makes breakfast, does meal planning.

Denki's schedule is the chaotic one and makes no sense. Changes every day. Do not attempt to figure it out or pin it down.

Kiri also meal plans but will go to bed at 9, get up at 5 for his own jog or heads to the gym (probably has a gym at home), has protein shakes, and is always bright eyed and bushy tailed.

Sero falls asleep as soon as his head hits the pillow. Gets up 5 minutes before he has to leave and always makes it to work on time, has coffee and looks like he took an hour to get ready. The definition of photo ready with absolutely no effort.

Iida takes the two hours to wind down and has the skin care routine, reads a book before bed after watching the news. Also fully sleeps in something like Marshall's nightgown from How I Met Your Mother.

Shinsou's sleep schedule is what sleep schedule? Mans takes after Aizawa where he stays up all fucking night, looks super tired, but is still super alert for work. No one knows the secret. It's self loathing and hatred /hj /lh

I don't mind at all these are super fun questions!!!

A) Techno is the hardest to write by FAR. It's not that I don't watch his content or anything, I do! I really love him as a cc and think he's hilarious. I just struggle so much with how to characterize c!techno. Where to draw the line between humor and seriousness and how he talks about emotions—I overthink writing him so much lmao. Easiest character is definitely Tommy though, he's my boy

B) Aww that's cute that you guys think I write drafts /lh. I basically will have the plot for a chapter or fic outlined in loose bullet points, and then I just go through and write it from start to finish. Not all at once usually, but I go in chronological order and don't skip around. And I don't write multiple drafts or anything. While I might go back and add a few lines here and there or reword a sentence or two, nearly everything you see written is what I wrote down on my first run through. I don't have the patience to go back and heavily edit so I just write it as best I can the first time around and that's what we get. I almost never start over either. I think one of the only times I came close to starting something over was when I was writing vanderlyle, I ended up writing a huge chunk of the first bookstore scene with Wilbur and Tommy meeting and deleted nearly the entire thing because the tone wasn't right and it was messing me up trying to move forward. Also, sometimes I listen to music that's instrumental like movie soundtracks or lofi beats, on rare occasions I can listen to music with lyrics while i write but I have to be really focused, and sometimes I just write in total silence it really depends on my mood

C) Wilbur is my favorite to write hands down. I definitely think a bit more about characterizing him properly when I'm writing him vs Tommy, but I just love c!wilbur as a character so much. He's so complex and has so many facets to him, it's really fun to pick and choose which part of him I want to highlight in each of my works. And again I'd say Techno is my least favorite character to write mainly because of how difficult it is for me to write him

D) I definitely try to comprehend the numbers, but y'know how our cc's often say it's really hard to conceptualize the huge number of viewers they get? it's like that with my fics. It's so strange to sit there and try to comprehend that there have been over a million clicks on clinic. It's very strange to try and picture ~4500 people in a room and know that that many people get emails whenever I post literally anything, not just a specific fic. It's mind boggling to comprehend that at it's peak, over 10k people got an email every time I updated clinic. I struggle to even picture 1000 people in a room, let alone that many. so yeah, I don't really comprehend it most of the time, but I try my best to keep things in perspective because I'm so grateful to have the audience I have

E) hm, I don't know if I'd want to write mcyt fanfiction solely for a career for the rest of my life. my interests shift, and tbh mcyt is a fandom I've stuck around in for one of the longest periods of time, which is surprising since I've been fandom hopping since 2015. I would hate to get stuck creating fanfic solely for a singular fandom, and even if I had the opportunity to switch fandoms, I don't know if I'd want to be restricted creating fan content, y'know? My dream is to be a published author with original novels, so while I don't know if I'd wanna write fanfic for a living, I definitely know I want to write for a living :) It's been my dream since I was a little kid
