How to Change Location on iPhone without Jailbreak on ALL iOS (iOS 18)
Maybe you want to access location-based apps or content like Pokémon GO. iPhones don’t offer a built-in way to spoof your GPS; manual solutions often come with risks like jailbreaking or technical headaches.

Game Informer:
Tumblr media
"Cover Reveal – Dragon Age: The Veilguard by Wesley LeBlanc on Jun 09, 2024 at 02:00 PM This month, Dragon Age: The Veilguard (you read that right – Dreadwolf is no more) graces the cover of Game Informer. After years developing Baldur's Gate and its sequel early in its history, BioWare struck out to create its own fantasy RPG. That series began with Dragon Age: Origins in 2009. It was followed up with Dragon Age II in 2011, and then Dragon Age: Inquisition in 2014. While the Dragon Age series' history has its ups and downs, fans have been patiently waiting for BioWare to return to the franchise, and 2024 is finally the year.  We visited BioWare's Edmonton, Canada, office for an exclusive look at Dragon Age: The Veilguard, including a look at its character creator, its prologue and opening missions, and more. We also spoke to many of the game's leads about the name change, the series' shift to real-time action combat, the various companions (and the relationships you can forge with them), and The Veilguard's hub location. You can learn about the titular Veilguard, Solas' role in the game, and so much more in our 12-page cover story for Dragon Age: The Veilguard."

"But there are plenty of other excellent reads within this issue of Game Informer! Some of us flew to Los Angeles, California, to attend Summer Game Fest and the not-E3 weekend's various other events to check out new games, interview developers, and more. Our previews section is jam-packed with new details about upcoming releases we can't wait for.  Brian Shea flew to Warsaw, Poland, to check out two upcoming releases – Frostpunk 2 and The Alters – and he came away excited about both. Jon Woodey went hands-on with Final Fantasy XIV's upcoming Dawntrail expansion (and spoke to director Naoki Yoshida, too), and as someone with 8,000 hours in the game, his words are the ones you'll want to read.  On the freelance front, Charlie Wacholz writes about how last year's Dave The Diver is one of the best game representations of the rewards and struggles of working in the food and beverage industry, and Grant Stoner spoke with Sony and Microsoft about the development of process and history of the companies' Adaptive and Access controllers. And for a lil' terror this summer, Ashley Bardhan spoke to several horror game developers about why the alluring town known as Silent Hill is a crucial location to Konami's horror masterpiece.  As always, you'll find an editor's note from editor-in-chief Matt Miller, reviews from various freelancers and staff editors, a Top 5 list (hint hint: dragons), and more. Here's a closer look at the cover:"

So TGC just announced some extremely controversial and potentially illegal changes to their Beta program.
Basically, on the 20th of this month they will be kicking every current Beta player from the program. From there, they will require potential beta testers to submit an application and sign an NDA to become a tester. As of right now, Beta will only be available to iOS users "for security reasons."
A lot of people are very upset but I don't know if that's going to change TGC's mind. If you're in the official Discord, I strongly encourage you to leave feedback about this issue. It's unfair to the people who have put countless hours doing beta testing completely free of charge. In addition, the requirement for NDAs would prevent anyone under 18 from participating in Beta. Not to fearmonger, but I worry that this could be the end of Sky as we know it and could signal a real shift in the game's culture.

**********
Some days, you wake up and just know it’s going to be a good day.
Today is not one of those days.
It starts with your alarm not going off. One second, you’re deep in a dream where everything is warm and peaceful—and the next, you’re sitting bolt upright in bed, heart pounding like it’s trying to break free from your chest. You snatch your phone off the nightstand, and when your eyes finally focus on the screen, you see the time.
You’ve overslept after promising to wake up early to work on your presentation, and now you’re running ridiculously behind schedule.
“Shit,” you hiss, flinging the covers off. Your feet hit the cold floor, and you stumble toward the bathroom. On the way, you misjudge the edge of your bed frame and stub your pinky toe so hard you see stars.
It’s all downhill from there.
The water pressure in your shower is barely a drizzle, more of a suggestion than a stream. You finally manage to get dressed—if a rumpled pair of sweats and an oversized t-shirt count as “dressed"—and head to the kitchen.
But the universe isn’t done with you yet.
The coffee machine sputters its last, tragic breath halfway through brewing, leaving you with the saddest half-cup of lukewarm coffee known to mankind. You stand there, cradling the mug in both hands like it’s the only thing tethering you to sanity.
“It’s fine,” you mutter to yourself. “It’s going to be okay.”
The universe disagrees.
At this point, you figure the day’s already a disaster—you might as well embrace it. You grab your favorite pajamas, the soft, worn-out set that’s absolutely not fit for public viewing, and settle on the couch with your laptop. Things start looking up. You’re even starting to feel a little human again.
Then your laptop flashes that dreaded low battery warning.
The charger’s in your car.
It’s fine. This is a simple task. Just grab the charger and come right back. No big deal.
Except when you step back inside, the door clicks shut behind you.
And your keys are still inside.
You stand in front of your door, staring at the doorknob. “Come on," you whine. "Seriously?"
You jangle your empty pockets, as if a spare key might magically appear. A part of you wonders if you could pick the lock—how hard can it be? But the only locks you’ve ever seen anyone pick are on TV, and there’s probably a reason for that.
For a long moment, you just stand there in the hallway, staring at your locked apartment door, like maybe—just maybe—it'll change its mind and let you back in. But no. The cold air from the drafty corridor nips at your bare legs—because, of course you’re wearing shorts—and the oversized t-shirt and bonnet don’t offer much protection.
You’re pretty sure you’re not even wearing a bra.
“Great,” you mumble, rubbing your arms and glancing down the hallway. Maybe you can call the building manager and wait somewhere discreet, like the stairwell—where no one will see you in all your... un-bra-ness.
But then the door across from yours swings open.
And out steps your new neighbor.
You freeze.
He’s tall. That’s the first thing you notice.
Broad shoulders fill out a fitted hoodie, and his sweats hang just right on his frame. His locs are tied back, a few strands falling loose around his face. And, of course, because the universe is determined to humiliate you today, he’s fine. Not regular fine—distractingly, unfairly, you-can’t-look-directly-at-him fine.
You tug at the hem of your shirt, suddenly hyper-aware of your lack of proper clothing. Maybe if you stay really still, he won’t see you.
No such luck.
“Morning,” he says, his voice deep and warm, with the kind of calm that makes you even more flustered.
“Uh. Morning,” you manage, trying and failing to sound casual.
He glances at you—at your bare legs, your slippers, your bonnet—and the corner of his mouth twitches like he’s fighting a smile. “Locked out?”
Your face burns. “Is it that obvious?”
“A little.” He leans against his doorframe, arms crossed. “You need to call the building manager?”
You nod, pulling your phone out—and of course, your battery chooses this moment to play hide-and-seek since you took the liberty to forget to charge it last night.
“No bars,” you mutter.
He watches you struggle for a second before pushing off the doorframe. “Here,” he says, holding out his own phone. “You can use mine.”
"Oh, thank you.” Your fingers brush his as you take the phone, and even though it’s just a split second, your skin tingles.
You step back, trying to focus on calling the building manager and not the fact that your incredibly good-looking neighbor is standing there watching you. When the call connects, you explain the situation, only for them to tell you it’ll be at least an hour before someone can come let you in.
“An hour?” you repeat, dismayed. “You don’t have an emergency key?”
“I’m afraid not,” the manager says apologetically. “I’m sorry.”
You hang up the phone and look at your neighbor. An hour might as well be a decade. And you are standing in front of this man, braless, and in your pajamas.
The universe hates you.
But he’s still smiling, one brow raised. “No spare key?”
“Apparently not.” You sigh, handing his phone back. “Thanks. Sorry for bothering you.”
“You’re not bothering me.” He hesitates, then nods toward his apartment. “You wanna wait inside? It’s warmer.” For a second, you think you misheard him. But his face is open and kind, his head tilting a little like he’s genuinely concerned.
“I—” You hesitate, looking down at yourself. “I don’t want to be a bother.”
“You won’t be,” he assures you, voice soft, but there’s something steady in his tone. “It’s too cold out here. You’re shivering.”
You glance down at your bare legs and admit he has a point. You really shouldn’t. But the alternative is standing in the hallway half-dressed and slowly dying of embarrassment.
“Okay,” you say finally. “Thank you."
He smiles, and you realize you’ve been avoiding his eyes this whole time. “I’m Jules,” he offers.
You smile back. “I’m—” What was your name again? You don’t remember for a second. “Y/N?” you say, and it sounds like a question.
“Y/N.” He says the name gently, like he’s testing its texture. Then he steps back and motions for you to enter.
It’s a simple gesture, but you feel it all the way down to your toes.
His place is beautiful—sleek and modern but warm, with huge windows that flood the space with soft, golden light. The walls are painted in calming neutral tones—warm beiges and soft grays—and the furniture looks like it was picked right out of some design magazine.
There’s a quiet kind of elegance here, a lived-in comfort mixed with sophistication. And then there’s his scent—that faint trace of cologne, something woodsy and clean—that lingers in the air and makes you catch yourself breathing just a little deeper.
“Make yourself comfortable,” he says, his voice low and easy as he heads toward the kitchen. “Want some tea or coffee?”
“Tea’s fine, thanks.”
You perch on the edge of his couch, trying not to feel awkward. The cushions are soft beneath you, and you smooth a hand over your thighs, willing yourself to relax.
He moves around his space with an effortless kind of ease, like he knows exactly where everything is without even thinking about it. The quiet sounds of him moving in the kitchen—the clink of a mug, the rush of water—fill the air, and there’s something surprisingly intimate about it.
When he comes back a few minutes later, he hands you a warm mug. You smile up at him, your fingers brushing his for the briefest second. His hands are warm and strong, and the simple touch sends an unexpected shiver up your spine.
“Thank you, seriously,” you say, your voice softer than you intend. “You didn’t have to do this.”
He shrugs, settling into the armchair across from you. “It’s nothing. Besides, we’re neighbors. I couldn’t just leave you stranded.”
You nod, taking a slow sip of your tea. The warmth spreads through you, easing some of your nerves. “I’m sorry we haven’t met before. I’ve seen you around, but..."
“I keep odd hours,” he finishes for you, a small smile playing at the corner of his mouth. “Training and travel.”
“Right,” you say, watching him. He’s even more gorgeous up close—those sharp cheekbones, the curve of his jaw, the soft fullness of his lips. But it’s his eyes that really get you—dark and steady, watching you with a quiet attentiveness that makes your pulse flutter.
“I’m—” you start, but there’s a sudden knock on the door.
He stands, moving with that same easy grace, and when he opens the door, the maintenance guy steps in. You rise too, suddenly unsure of what to do with yourself. You hadn’t expected the awkwardness to be worse when your neighbor did a kind deed for you.
“Looks like you’re all set,” Jules says a few minutes later, holding up your keys with a little flourish. The maintenance guy gives a quick nod and heads out, leaving the two of you alone again.
You take the keys with a grateful smile. “Thank you, really. I owe you one.”
The corner of his mouth quirks. “That you do.”
A flush spreads through your cheeks as you head toward the door. You stop at the threshold, looking back at him. “Well, thank you again. I’m going to go... put on some clothes.”
“Probably a good idea.” He leans against the doorframe and gives you a little wave. “See you around.”
You pause for a moment, watching him, that soft smile and his steady gaze. And then you step into your apartment and shut the door behind you, exhaling a slow breath as you lean against the frame. You can’t help the little thrill that goes through you as you remember the way his muscles bulged through the fabric of his shirt.
You wonder how long you’ve been missing out on him. You take a deep breath and step away from the doorframe. And you’re pretty sure your day just got a whole lot better.

I was wondering, do you have any recomendations on some long fics? Like, not just one chapter? Sorry if you had already posted something abou that. Anyway, thanks!!! (Really like your blog <<3333)
Absolutely!! I pretty much only read on Ao3 anymore so all of my recommendations are going to be there, but if others want to tack on their own recommendations in the comments they're always welcome to do so :)
A few things,
I tried to put content warnings on the bodies of work as I see fit, but some of these I read over a year ago and haven't looked at since so I apologize if I've missed something!
Additionally speaking, I've marked anything in which contains characters having sex with a red heart emoji ❤️ as it should be viewable on light and dark mode, across multiple forms of devices (ios vs android, etc) and should be readable to screen readers as well; As per previous notes on this blogs, any explicit depictions of characters having sex will also have them being explicitly over 18. Now without further ado-
I'm a huge fan of rabbit_soup's "Healing Takes Two" series, it's 13 pieces in total some of them are oneshots and others are multichapter but they all fit together making it a large body of text. The plot extends from Nico's three days in the infirmary to the early stages of their relationship and still seems to be ongoing with the author taking on rewriting some of their older pieces.
arum scarce by GalwayGirlo [16/20] AU ❤️:
Nico wakes up paralyzed following a motorcycle accident. Maybe Will Solace can help him get some feeling back?
(cw: suicidal ideation, a suicide attempt, adult having a relationship with a minor, "mafia stuff")
When I Get Home to You by 2nd2ndalto [10/10] Canon Compliant, Time Travel ❤️:
Will’s brow furrows."N - Nico?"
It’s impossible, this boy can’t be Nico, but the name falls from his lips without real conscious thought. Nico is 38 years old and probably sitting at home in their living room, hopefully having figured out how to fix the clogged dishwasher line, which is what he’d been planning on doing when Will left early this morning.
(cw: conversations about suicidal ideation and related topics, and young nico is involved so canon compliant trauma of his comes up as well)
talk your talk and go viral (i just need this love spiral) by wrongcaitlyn [34/34] and a part 2 currently at [2/?] chapters, Celebrity AU ft. Trans Nico:
“Keep telling yourself that,” Will says quietly, because even though the door is closed, speaking any louder would seem wrong. “You’re too harsh on yourself. If you wrote songs or something, you’d easily get on the Billboard Hot 100. Dad would help you. I would, too.”
“Promote it to your seven followers?”
“Yes!”
Nico laughs, and then Will is joining him, and they’re closer than before, but it’s nothing unusual. It’s been this way since before stupid feelings and stupid crushes, and Nico would be damned if he let it change just because of that.
(cw: alcoholism, childhood abuse and neglect, character death, car accidents, transphobia/homophobia/generalized queerphobia, gender dysphoria, suicidal ideation and related topics)
peach tea by ghosttotheparty [5/5] AU ft. Latino Will:
Will brushes his thumb over the side of Nico’s hand gently. His skin is soft. Nico’s fingers tighten on Will’s. It kind of feels like neither of them wants to move. Will doesn’t mind.
He sits up after a moment, but Nico doesn’t let go of his fingers, so he lifts the arm that’s awkward between them and sets it behind Nico, leaning back to rest on it. Nico just looks at the tapestry.
or; Will falls in love with the new kid.
(cw: mental health struggles, ptsd, anxiety/panic attacks, depression, grief, and character death)
What Could've Been Lights by athaleablaire [18/18], AU - I can’t remember if they have sex in this, rating is teen and up and all characters are over 18 but enter at your own risk:
In Will's eyes, he really has it all. A job as a surgeon at an amazing hospital, great friends-- what more could he ask for? Everything is going great until a man walks into his emergency room half-dead. In the mission to save his life, Will gets a little more than he bargained for.
(cw: injury and recovery, accusations of substance use)
a shadow in the rising sun by demigodbeautiies [9/13], AU Royalty, Arranged Marriage:
This is a story about the Ghost King.
Will Solace (crown prince in the Seventh Kingdom, politically useless as it may be) does not particularly want to be married to a thing of nightmares. He doesn't really have a choice, though. When does he ever? He allows his father to push him led into this politically advantageous, beauracratically necessary arrangement without too many complaints, and resigns himself to the fact he will be marrying a tyrant out of the tall tales his mother used to tell him when he was a boy.
Except then he meets his husband - a boy, and one younger than he is at that! - and realises that he has absolutely no idea what to expect. All he can hope for is that no one tries to kill him.
(cw: character death, character injury?)
NICO Centric:
Lethe by Eridans [8/8] Canon Compliant with a part 2 at [16/16]:
He's ten and ninety simultaneously, his mother was murdered and his sister is a stranger. He's got a deck of cards that he holds onto like a lifeline and an Italian-English dictionary that's old as hell and crumbling, but it's not as old as he is, and that makes him laugh.
The River Lethe was supposed to take away their memories, but Nico remembers his past, his days at home, the times he spent with his sister and mother at parades Mussolini hosted, where Maria sang the national anthem. The river tried to take away everything Nico cherished, and it could have been pure desperation or grief that made him remember his past.
Nico didn't know.
(cw: I started reading this fic over 8 years ago and haven't read it since it's last update 3 years ago, expect canon compliant events and themes to occur but otherwise proceed at your own risk, exercising caution and compassion for yourself where necessary <3)
WILL Centric:
Solace by solisaureus [11/11], Canon Compliant:
solace (n.) comfort or consolation in a time of distress or sadness.
solis (n.) the Latin word for "sun."
(cw: author includes their own content warnings at the start of each chapter!)
sprinkler splashes to fireplace ashes by whimsicalMedley [13/26] Canon Compliant ft. Trans Will Solace:
Contrary to his general disposition, William Andrew Solace was born in the middle of an October hurricane.
Or, Growing up is hard. It’s even harder when you’re the son of the sun god.
(cw: author includes their own content warnings at the start of each chapter!)
Hopefully this is a good place to get you started, nonnie!

ok i've seen some posts about the tumblr alternative cohost but none that were actually helpful so!
(disclaimer: i am very new to this website. users who have been there longer can and should chime in with additions and/or corrections)
Cohost Introduction Post
Tumblr media
What is cohost?
Cohost is a fledgling website that is essentially a tumblr clone, but with its own culture and site-specific features. It is also very much a work in progress. You are encouraged to talk in the cohost forum to suggest changes for devs, report bugs, and upvote other people's suggestions. This website WILL grow and change over time. And as such, I do not know if/when the information I share here will be outdated. Edit: To answer an ask I received, anyone can join cohost without an invite. It used to be invite-only. It is not this way anymore.
Is "adult content" allowed there?
Yes. Cohost is not on the app store, meaning that it is not subject to Apple's specifications. You can post illustrations, writing, and photographs (cohost does not support any video formats at this time, just gifs). Cohost has an elaborate filtering and trigger warning system (moreso than tumblr), and you can disable adult content for your entire account or for individual tags. I actually don't engage with the adult content at all on there. Visual CSEM (both real and fictional) is specifically forbidden (although frankly I think the guidelines could be stricter wrt written content. Still, does seem to handle this better than AO3 does, going as far to say that written content about real minors is forbidden.)
How are minors protected?
The minimum age to join cohost is 16, and requires proof of parental permission to join. Users who are under 18 are automatically age-gated and cannot view adult content.
If cohost isn't on the app store, how is it used?
You can, of course, use cohost on a computer, but it is designed with mobile in mind. Opening the website on any IOS browser, clicking "share", and then "add to home screen" will install an app for you to use. The same can be done on an android. There is a guide here.
How does cohost work?
First, you create an account. Then you wait for approximately two days (read: weekdays) for the account to be activated. This is done to prevent spam bots. In the meantime, edit your profile. List some interests, your pronouns, your other social media links. Give yourself an icon. Note: icon and banner file sizes are small. You may need to shrink and compress images.
After the two days are up, make your first post! Write a basic introduction (with what you feel comfortable you feel sharing) and list some interests you like, maybe some hobbies, media, etc. And then tag this post with "#welcome to cohost". This will let existing members know that someone new has joined, and they may initiate conversation and/or follow you.
Next, go to the search and type in "The Cohost Global Feed" and click on the tag. Bookmark this tag. This is essentially one giant community space where you can find random users. (There is currently some discourse on the website as to whether this tag existing is a "bad thing" or not because "cohost isn't supposed to have a global tag". Just ignore that lol). Next, go back to search and type in things you like. TV shows, maybe. Video games. Music. Anything. See if people have posted in the tags. Follow them. Comment on their stuff. Click "like" to bookmark the post if you want to.
Most crucially, make sure that you bookmark the actual tag so you can look in that tag again later without having to manually type it each and every time. Also, you get a feed called "bookmarked tags" which allows you to scroll through all of them at once, which replaces the "for you" feature other websites have.
You can "share" a post (called "rebug" in user slang) which serves the same purpose as a reblog on tumblr. In a rebug, you can add your own tags or comment in the body of the post. Cohost users do not talk in tags as much as tumblr users - they tend to prefer to speak in the body of a rebug, or in the comment section (replies). At this time, you cannot view all reblogs. But you can view all comments in the comment section. Any post that is rebugged will preserve the tags of the OP, with any additional tags added being attributed to you. Rebugs are named after the website mascot Eggbug, a purple bee-like insect.
Posts are called "chosts" - and shitposting is called "shitchosting." Two examples of global shitposting tags are "#css crimes" - which is when a person does goofy things with the HTML/CSS editor to make colorful text, fake chat windows, and such - and "#shitchosting" which is a general shitposting tag. I've also seen people use tags like "#random".
If a post makes you laugh, check out the OP's profile. See if they post frequently, and if you have any common interests. If you realize you want to block or mute someone instead, you can.
You can send asks just like on tumblr, but your inbox must be manually opened first. So remember to do that.
How do I look at my own blog?
This is one of my gripes about the UI. You would think, intuitively, you would click here (at the top of the screen). But you would be wrong!
Tumblr media
It is ACTUALLY under the sidebar menu, called "Profile." And I'm not the only one to to complain about this. (To get back to your dashboard, by the way, you click on the cohost logo.)
Tumblr media
Are there sideblogs?
Yes! Each sidepage (sideblog) has its OWN set of likes AND followed pages (blogs). This allows you to easily switch between multiple sets of dashboards. A lot of users use this to have a SFW dashboard and an adult content dashboard. But it works like tumblr, too. You can have a side page/dashboard for whatever you'd like. Maybe one of your pages is for programming. Maybe another is for photography. You switch between your pages by clicking the arrow next to your icon/username at the top of the screen. ("Ohhhhh.... THAT'S what that's for.")
What's the userbase on there like?
Mostly programmers. Trans people. Furry artists. Plural systems. Furry trans plural programmers. Certainly a lot of shitposters. The website is trans-run and, as such, has zero tolerance for TERFs. Everyone seems pretty friendly from what I can tell. And there's very much a culture of "follow someone randomly based on their vibes" that doesn't happen as much on tumblr. Tumblr is more like "I really like this TV show, I'm going to follow 40 blogs about just this interest." Because the cohost community is so much smaller, there is a lot less content overall, especially fandom content. You can't follow 40 fandom pages because your fandom tag has a total of 3 posts, all made by one person approximately a year ago (well. for me anyway).
Cohost, then, actually has much more in common with real-life socialization. You seek out people with interests that may be very different from your own, and to find a common interest is very exciting! Unlike tumblr, you are encouraged to tag as much as possible. This allows your posts to be seen, to find common interests. And, of course, don't forget to look in "#Welcome To Cohost" too! You may find some new friends there.
What file formats can I post in?
Currently, I am aware of basic image formats working (like jpeg, png) animated gifs, and mp3s. You currently cannot upload videos to cohost. I believe the reason is not related to server costs, but rather as a way to curb the uploading of copyrighted content.
How does cohost make money?
There are no ads, and yet, as far as I am aware, cohost is operating comfortably. There is, however, an entirely optional "cohost plus" that is $5 USD a month. Currently, there are a few perks, but not enough to convince me.
What if I think something about cohost should change?
Cohost has a forum where users can submit ideas for features and other users can discuss/upvote those ideas.
Here is a list of posts made for newcomers to read:

web of wyrd: ios 18 is coming to us september 18
supposedly that is the release date, so i want to deep dive on the 18 (moon) energy and how the themes can influence technology. in this case phones.
illusions and uncertainty
there are likely to be features that are not immediately clear in terms of performance (the terms of agreement / acknowledgements - might be questionable and a lot of people won't know it because we tend to just click through all that). alternatively, a lot of people may feel uncertain about the changes and need time to adapt to it - people might avoid updating to ios 18 all together.
hidden features
its likely that this update has features they won't/haven't even mention in the promo. a lot of setting stuff might need your attention - so look for someone who is well informed about what should be on in settings and what should be off. don't be afraid to ask a search what some setting jargon means.
intuition
its likely an intuitive update - you might not need much time to get back to your daily functionality. it will be trial and error to discover that "oh yea that feature is there" or "oh yea that feature changed" when the update happens.
emotional impact, dreams, and subconscious
the journal app is definitely coming this update... but we might see something change with sleep tracking, mediation, etc. also in terms of emotional impact, it's likely to cause some emotional ups and downs - frustration, excitement, frustration, etc. which i have already been b!tching about with the app locking and app hiding feature - like i just know you are up to no good if your instagram is locked on your own phone...
caution
as always you should probably wait a bit before updating immediately because the glitches will be real. an update will definitely follow the initial one.
have ideas for new content? please use my “suggest a post topic” button!

The Short Patreon Breakdown
Basic version of this post, for people with no attention span. For details on each of these points, please see the original post.
1. The iOS processing fees are a smokescreen covering up the actual devastating changes that Patreon is forcing creators into—including doing away with the two billing models used by most of the highest-earning creators on the platform, regardless of the impact this will have on their livelihood.
2. Patreon is not going to change course for any reason. This is set in stone. CEO Jack Conte himself has been having one-on-one meetings and calls with the platform's top earners, and clearly has no interest in their actual grievances or how their businesses operate—only in getting them to stop complaining.
3. Patreon has offered no proof of their claims that the iOS app is responsible for 40 percent of the engagement on the platform—and also refuse to define what "engagement" means. Staff rebuff all requests for detailed analytics or data on the revenue share coming from the app, but did not refute the possibility that dismissing an app notification counted as "engagement."
4. Patreon does not have a refund policy in place to work with Apple in order to protect creators from malicious chargebacks, and has given no indication of any intent to work with Apple to shorten the time it takes for funds from iOS purchases to be paid out to creators—which is currently 75 days.
5. Patreon's own graphics meant to explain why this is necessary and how the new fees work are not correct: the fee structure graphic features a copying error that results in incorrect math, and adding together everything on the bar graph showing the daily active users by avenue of access comes to a total of 103 percent. They are woefully unprepared to share this information, and are putting it on us for "not understanding."
6. Patreon refuses to offer any promises to 18+ creators that they will not be removed from the app in order to adhere to Apple's content guidelines, instead only saying they currently have no plans to remove us from the app. Questioning this was met with a reminder that they've had to change the TOS for 18+ creators before.
7. All the features Patreon is insisting are integral for creator growth are inaccessible to 18+ creators, and questions about this were either dismissed, redirected, or ignored. 18+ creators can't even be found on either app, but we're being forced to cater to iOS' terms anyway, with claims that it's because all creators need the app in order to grow. Even though we can't utilize it.
8. Patreon's iOS app is currently* in violation of Apple's guidelines for app ratings; staff did not state any intention to become compliant by raising the app's rating as needed to maintain their 18+ creator community, only declaring that they're "exploring options." Per Apple's guidelines, the "options" are to either raise the rating to 17+, cutting off access for the wealthy teenagers with iPhones to which the platform is so dedicated they'll kneecap their top earner in order to court, or kick all 18+ creators off the platform. (This includes horror, true crime, health, trauma recovery, and more, not just sexual content.) *Current as of August 18, 2024.
Do not let the 30 percent App Store fee distract you from what's really going on here. Patreon is crippling a huge portion of their creators, including a horde of their top earners—and the single most profitable creator on the entire platform—and offering no legitimate reasons why. The amount of money they're losing from these creators restructuring or leaving altogether totals in the millions within a single month of activity. This isn't even about money, it's about something else—and there's no way to know what, because Patreon is giving us nothing.

Jimin-ah
Well, it's here. The day. THE Day.
I actually missed Jimin's live. I'm really not happy about it. I was even sleeping with my phone on and the volume up. That's how much I wanted to see sweet Jimin-ah, LIVE..... 😢
That IOS update a couple of weeks back changed the notification sound to a very soft tone. It's impossible to change. So, I freaking slept through the notification sound, and Jiminie's live. Thank you, Apple.
It's a tough day for many of us around the world. My heart is feeling it. There are a lot of tender hearts out there, lots of sadness, and a need for compassion and empathy. (and, a lot of tissues)
I'm going to continue to send Love to everyone, because that's my Job. While I'm navigating in my 3D human form feeling the sadness of today, I'm still doing that other work too. Because, every heart needs that Love, you know?
So, for the coming 18 months, I’m not leaving this platform. I'm here now, and will be here on the other side.
Holding Space, until 2025. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
