〈 ✥ *〉┊   "Sure, I can take you there," he taps a finger against the roughly indicated area on the map, "but it doesn't mean I'm entirely keen on it. And believe me, it'll cost ya more than a pretty penny to convince someone else to guide you." The wanderer leans back and raises his ale to his lips, but doesn't yet drink. The eyebrow above his covered eye arches. "I ain't going to ask for your reasons-- that's for you to know --but I need a bit of convincing you'll commit. This won't be a journey you can back out of halfway through."

Part 1/5 (probably) of my andreil fake dating au
@givemethedamnflowers @bikevindayy @mai-feri @neilimfinejosten @runpinocchio @youweremyversaillesatnight @paradoxolotl @paysomeonetopaysomeone @asteria-astraeus
----------
It was all Nicky’s fault.
Well, technically it was Andrew’s stupidity’s fault, but he was going to ignore it and blame Nicky anyway. They were at Nicky’s for Thanksgiving when the pest popped up the question he would ask every family gathering.
“So, Andrew…” he paused dramatically, because why wouldn’t he. “Are you still single?
And that had been it. Andrew was tired, he was working on a case that took a lot from him. A thirteen-years-old boy who had been raped by his stepbrother since he was seven and it was hitting way too close to home that it had given Andrew nightmares. He hadn’t had a good night of sleep for almost three weeks now. So he could be excused when his sleep deprived ass had blurted out. “Neil’s my boyfriend.”
His heart came to an abrupt stop the moment the words left his mouth. He felt his mask of indifference begin to crack as he looked across the table to where Neil was looking at him, a spoonful of mashed potatoes halfway to his open mouth.
Andrew was thoroughly fucked. Of all names he could have used to get Nicky off his back he had to have said Neil’s name. As if Nick didn’t know Neil for years, as if he hadn’t known Neil for years. Besides he had a crush on Neil since they met in his senior year of high school.
Neil carefully placed his spoon in his plate, a mischievous grin forming on his lips, his ice blue eyes glistening dangerously. Again: Andrew was fucked.
“I didn’t think we were going to tell everyone yet.” He said slowly, all fake innocence.
The table exploded with noise that Andrew could barely register, all his attention focused on Neil and his smirk and his stupid good looks. Today he was dressed a bit better than usual, in a brown cashmere sweater and olive green denim jacket, probably a courtesy of Reynolds. The colors blended well with his auburn hair and made him look like the personification of autumn. Most of the freckles on his face were gone with the absence of the hotter summer sun, but Andrew could remember each one of them perfectly. Noticing and remembering each and every little detail about Neil was enough to make Andrew forget where he was and what was happening around him.
Today though his mind was occupied with other things. Why did Neil join in on the lie? Was he only being his chaotic self? He knew Neil was prone to saying anything that came to his mind simply to stir shit up, but usually Andrew knew exactly what he was thinking, or he could make a pretty accurate guess.
“Pay up, bitch!” Aaron’s voice sounded from Andrew’s left. Andrew snapped his head in his direction with a scowl as he took in the scene. Aaron had his hand up in Nicky’s direction, a smug expression settled in his face. Nicky sighed, taking his wallet from his pocket to supposedly pay Aaron.
“Don’t forget my share.” Eric said when Nicky went to put his wallet away. “I told you this was the year.”
“You betted on us?” Andrew asked. That Nicky and Aaron made bets about him wasn't a surprise, but even Eric?
“Of course they did.” Neil said. “And I bet Matt and Dan did as well, it's going to be fun telling them.” he laughed.
“We are not telling them.”
“You told Nicky, I think it's only fair I tell people too.”
It was official, Andrew was going insane. He should have stayed in bed instead of coming to Thanksgiving, he didn't even have something to be thankful for this year, his life was going downhill. They were not a real couple and he couldn't for the life of him figure out what Neil was playing at here. And to be honest whatever it was he was not going to join in. He made a mistake, slipped up a little, but he was going to set things straight and not get tangled up in a lie. Especially not a lie that involved Neil and his messed up idea of fun.
“We’re not.” Andrew crossed his arms and leaned back in his chair. He opened his mouth to tell everyone the truth when Neil caught him by surprise again. “Let’s not have this discussion now, babe.” He pursed his lips in Andrew's direction and went back to his mashed potatoes. The nickname rolling out of his mouth like this wasn't the first time he ever called Andrew that, like this wasn't a monumental moment in the history of Andrew. Like this wasn't going to come up again as soon as Andrew laid his head on the pillow that night and keep him awake for hours.
Nicky snickered and leaned over Eric to whisper something at him. Aaron paled to a green color, a disgusted expression beginning to form on his face. “Never ever call me that from now on.” He said to Katelyn.
She smiled at him, slapping his shoulder lightly. “I'm happy for you, Andrew.” she said, leaning forward to look at Andrew from her seat on the other side of Aaron’s chair. All Andrew could do was nod at her and go back to his food.
There was a time where he couldn't even look at Katelyn. That was when he thought she wouldn't be good for Aaron and when she showed him she was, he then began to be afraid she would take Aaron away from him and instead of a strained relationship they would have nothing at all. But she didn't take Aaron away on the contrary actually, seeing her relationship with her sisters made Aaron reevaluate his relationship with Andrew. They became closer and after they began to have joint therapy sessions they now had something that resembled what the relationship between brothers should be. Andrew had reached the point where he could admit she was alright most days and even great some days.
“Oh, no, no, no.” Nicky jumped away from Eric and pointed a finger between Andrew and Neil. “We're not ignoring this GREAT revelation and going back to lunch. I need dets, gimme the dets. I need to be fed after watching you two pinning for almost ten years. I earned the right to every juice detail of this relationship. I swear you two got together just when I changed my choice on the bet. I lost fifty bucks.”
“You’re earned nothing and I'm giving you nothing.”
“Oh, don't be shy Andrew. Tell them exactly what goes down between us.” Neil chimed in, biting his lips suggestively while raising his eyebrows at Andrew.
Andrew felt his blood rush downwards with every image his fucked up brain conjured as a result of Neil suggestive expression. Nope. Not the time to be thinking about that.
“Please don't, not at the table.” He vaguely heard Aaron say.
“Stop.” Katelyn scolded. “If Andrew and Neil feel comfortable sharing with us we should hear them as their family.”
“You, Katelyn, are too good for this world,” Neil stated. “And definitely too good for Aaron.”
“Fuck you!”
“No, thank you, I prefer your brother.”
Aaron gagged at that and Andrew got the fuck away from them immediately, Nicky’s delighted cackle following him all the way to the front door. Before he could even open the door he heard the soft taps of Neil’s shoes on the hardwood floor. Usually Neil walked like a ghost without any sound but when he clocked in on the fact that it freaked Andrew out not hearing someone approaching him from behind he always made sure to make his presence known before he reached Andrew. It was one of the things that made Neil different from everyone else. He just got Andrew without Andrew even needing to say anything.
“I’m sorry if it was too much.” He stopped beside Andrew, leaning his back against the wall and looking down at his feet. “I just wanted to get under Aaron’s skin, I didn't think how it would sound to you.”
Andrew gritted his teeth. “Why?”
“I don’t know.” At Andrew snort he continued. “I really don't know. I guess I just didn't want Nicky to catch up on the lie at first, but then I thought it would be funny. You know me, I don't have a sense of humor.”
That wasn't true, Neil could be really funny. Or maybe his sense of humor was just the right amount of acid and sarcastic that his remarks made Andrew want to laugh, even though he didn’t most of the time.
“You’re really not as funny as you think you are.”
“I don't think I am.”
“Exactly.”
The corners of Neil's lips pushed up in a small smile. “We’re okay, right?”
“We were never not okay Neil.”
“Good.” he smiled softly. “Does that mean we still can tell Dan and Matt about the change in our relationship status? And Allison? We have to tell Allison, it’ll be gold.”
“Why would we tell them?” Andrew asked, running his right hand over his face. He was too tired for this, he didn't want to use his brain to solve Neil, even though most of the time it was his favorite thing to do.
“First, funny.” Neil put one finger up. “Second, it really would get Allison off my back about not dating anyone ever.”
“You could just tell her you’re ace and don't want to date. Or tell her to fuck off, whatever works best.” Andrew suggested.
“I know, but I don't want to have this conversation with her, or anyone else really.”
“Because you love to make your life more difficult. And mine, you're really into that.”
“Come on, Andrew. What’s the worst that could happen? We go on a few dates, lie to a couple of friends. I bet we're going to laugh about it in a few years.”
Andrew was sure as hell he would not, but for some reason telling no to Neil was very hard. “Okay.”
“You’re the best, babe.” He said with what looked like an attempt at a flirty smile.
“I’m going to stab you.” Andrew hissed.
“No, you’ll not.” He laughed brightly. “You’re too well adjusted now.”
Andrew almost gasped, and he probably would if he hadn't perfected his bored resting face to a T. “Take that back.”
“Nope.” beamed Neil, he straightened his body and got past Andrew to open the door. “Do you want to get out of here? We can go home and watch some crappy detective show?” He tossed over his shoulder.
-------------
Things I want to make clear:
— Aaron it's homophobic in this au, he just don't want to know about his brother's sex life, or anyone else's for the matter.
— Next part is in revision and it's from Neil's POV
— Little spoiler: Neil's a high school math teacher because I said so 😆

Monday 18 November 2002 - second visit to Munich - Marienplatz and Viktualienmarkt - the perfect Schwibbogen - Schäufele at the Tucher gastropub
18 November 2002
EN  Hi everyone.  Twenty years ago I was still on my vacation to Germany, Scandinavia and Switzerland.  This would be my last full day.  I visited Munich, particularly Europapark, then the Marienplatz downtown.  I did not spend long there, I went back to Nürnberg and did my remaining shopping.  Then I packed up to go home on the 19th.
Guten Morgen!  Good morning!
Today would be my last full day in Europe until August 2003.  I would visit Munich, and then come back to Nürnberg to do some final shopping before going back to the hotel.  I would find the perfect gift for my mother, in the Handwerkerhof.
I managed to arrive at the hotel the previous evening at a more decent hour so I could wake up by 7 AM.  I had breakfast, then took a shower and took the U1 to Nürnberg Hbf.  I boarded the ICE train to Munich Hbf via Augsburg.  So far it was the only ICE connection until years later when it went through Donauwörth and Ingolstadt.  The train left about 8 AM, and made a stop about 8:35 AM in Augsburg Hbf.  Then it continued to München Hbf.  I was listening to the radio and happened to tune in Bayern 3.  It was playing "Dilemma" by Nelly and Kelly.  I cannot remember the other songs though, will have to refer to the audio tape which I had recorded at the time.
At München Hbf I accidentally dropped my radio.  It did not completely break it but the hinge for the cassette would not completely close unless I jiggled it a bit.  It was a misfortune.  I went on to the U1-U2 station, bought a day pass, and took the U2 to the Am Hart station.  I took a shuttle bus for the V Markt, or rather, the Walmart, which had replaced it.  I used to go there a few times a week after work when I was living there in Summers of 1997 and 1998.  Prices were cheaper than in downtown, especially for food.  I bought a couple of beers to take home.  Then I took the shuttle to Kieferngarten, the other stop with a U Bahn connection.  I took it southbound to Marienplatz, through Münchner Freiheit that converges with the M3 that came from the west, namely Olympiazentrum which eventually was extended to Moosach.
I walked to the Viktualienmarkt and the Rathaus at Marienplatz.  I also walked towards the Karlsplatz past the St. Michael church.  I had been there in the winter when there was snow, months before.  I did not go to the Hofbrauhaus until at least August 2003, so this time I just took the S Bahn back to Hbf and tried to find a train back to Nürnberg through Augsburg.  At München Hbf, I took a 1:51 PM train to Nürnberg Hbf through Augsburg.  I arrived about 3 PM.
In Nürnberg, I walked from Lorenzkirche to Weißer Turm and back.  At one department store, I think, Hertie, I was at the World of Music, and listened to two CDs that I thought I should buy.  One was the follow up CD Unbelievable by Sarah Connor.  Months earlier, in Sevilla, Spain, I had bought her debut CD "Green Eyed Soul".  I passed on that sadly.  Another one was Otto Waalkes in concert.  One of his songs was a parody of Toto's "Africa", called "Arschgesicht".  That cracked me up.
I had to find something for my mother, and the time was getting short.  4 PM on a November afternoon is not exactly late, but if one is flying home the next day, it is better to find something to buy earlier than later.  I went to the Handwerkerhof and found a shop that sold Schwibbogen.  I found one powered by candles.  I asked the saleslady to put it in a box, and she had the exact box to pack it in.  I think it cost around € 30,00.  I bought similar presents in that area, even a bottle of Frankish wine in a distinctive bottle, which is kind of flat, not the usual cylindrical type.  Also I bought some delicious Lebkuchen to take back home.  I also bought some candies for my colleagues at work to enjoy.
For supper, I went to the Tucher Mautkeller on Königstraße, towards Lorenzkirche.  I had to go one flight of stairs down.  I had a Schäufele, which was a pork shoulder, cole slaw and potato dumpling.  I had it with glass of Tucher Dunkel.  It was excellent.  I paid about € 30 for the meal.
I walked back to Hbf and took the U1 back to Maximilianstraße, the bus 38 to Lenkersheimer Straße, and back to the hotel.  I had to pack up my bags to see where I could put my beers, the Schwibbogen, wine and other things.  Then I went to sleep.
I hope you will join me on my long journey home, through Washington DC Dulles and an unexpected "change of gauge", and a movie with shouts of "Jiggance!" from Portia de Rossi.
Gute Nacht!  Good night!

The following progressive of My Batman AU resembles some new origin stories and new accomplishments between the DC Universe.
Bio: Victor Fries was the husband of Nora Fries and one of GothCorp's most brilliant scientists and cryogenic researchers. When Nora was infected with a deadly disease, he developed a special freezing cell and planned to cryogenically hold until a cure was found. However, Fries had been misappropriating GothCorp's money, which left the company in debt and the experiment unauthorized. Fries was interrupted by GothCorp's CEO Ferris Boyle and a fight ensued and the scientist was knocked into a lab table full of beakers which exploded. The resulting explosion smashed him into his cryogenic freezing tanks and the accident soaked his entire body with the freezing solution and rendered him unable to survive outside of a sub-zero environment. Vowing revenge on those who had wronged him, he was known as "Mr. Freeze" as he created a vacuum tight suit which maintained his body temperature at 50 degrees below zero and tripled his strength and a laser-powered cold gun.
A year later, Reports of a man wearing a big refrigerated cryogenic suit attack Gotham with a ice gun, freezing the roads, cars and people causing multiple accidents and deaths, leaving GCPD unable to stop as they call him, Mr Freeze. Batman goes to GothCorp and investigates before the police can. After investigating the building, he then discovers that Mr Freeze’s real name was Victor Fries. He was a scientist who worked at Gothcorp. He’s been taking its funds to find a cure for his dying wife Nora Fries, But Board of Gothcorp Ferris Boyle didn’t like it which led to a conflict to stop him. The sudden pressure change caused the container to explode, and released a plume of cryogenic chemicals that doused Victor, Feris escaped but put the lab into quarantine. Victor survived but had to survive under Sub Zero temperature but at the cost of Nora’s death. Victor's grief was overwhelmed by anger and hungry for vengeance. He then spent the entire year planning for revenge on Boyle. In the Batcave, While making heat gadgets, Batman and Alfried understand Victor’s pain and realize tomorrow is Humanitarian of the year and where Mr Freeze will make a move and the next day, he did make a move. Freeze was gonna kill Boyle, Batman arrives in time to confront him and tries to reason with him but his cold heart blinded only one he loved is dead. The two of them began to fight as Batman tries to get the People out as he can while Freeze mostly freezes him. After Batman defeats Freeze by his heat gadgets, Captain Gordon preapers to arrest the bat, Then Batman explains that a year ago, Feris Boyle was responsible for 1st degree murder of Nora Fries and the creat Victor Fries into Mr Freeze. He also explains that he’s no threat to Gotham and wants to protect the innocent and stop the bad people. Gordon can’t even tell Batman wasn’t even lying but will try some GCPD try not to kill him leaving Batman hope the Captain will understand , saying to Boyle “Goodnight Humanitarian.” Feris Boyle was exposed and fired, Mr Freeze was kept in a special sub-zero cell at prison called Blackgate Penitentiary.
Batman saws Mr Freeze’s story a sad one, Batman knows Freeze wasn’t himself as much but he will hopefully give up this life and return to society someday. Unfortunately Freeze was reversed back, he wouldn’t be himself anymore and there’s no melting his heart this time. This leads to Mr Freeze to be sent into on of The Patients at Arkham Asylum, Under a new SubZero cell at the Penitentiary Wing. Mr Freeze would commit many frozen related crimes and The Batman would always be there stop him. Sometimes with an allie or two.

Bridge Between Continents
”If you don’t like the weather, just wait five minutes.” som de siger…

Dag 4 – Den gyldne cirkel
Gullfoss, Den Gyldne Cirkel

"What is that?"
Feri'um hums, jolting their pan and sending a fresh wave of sizzling into the air. Little claws prick at his shoulder as Kal Myhk alights there, wings a-flutter as the little dragon tries to fold them and peer down at the little stoveset at the same time. He breathes long and deep over the steam, then rattles his head.
"This smell is unfamiliar to me. So many pieces to it, swirling together... what is it, Feri'um?"
"Lunch," Feri' replies. They waft some of the smoke in and consider the pan before reaching for their bag. It takes them a moment to find a sprig of mint within, and they lift it for Kal Myhk to see. He dutifully sniffs it and Feri'um holds back a laugh as he jerks a little.
"Sharp! But not bad. Very similar to other plants I have seen Mother use... like the cold, yet not." Kal Myhk peers up at their face from around their horn. "So this is what you eat normally?"
"One of the things!" Feri' adds the sprig to the pan and stirs. They'd only meant to do meat and mushrooms, but, well. Easy to get carried away when adding a sauce. "I'm trained as a cook so I have more options than most— but many people can't eat meat raw unless it's treated in a certain way, so they'd need to sear it with heat first anyway. We can add seasonings to make it taste better or different, too, if we have any."
Kal Myhk tilts his head. "Not raw... so what if you lack for your fire?"
They chuckle. "I have magic, I think that's impossible."
The little dragon stomps gently on a bare patch of shoulder and they squawk. "Still! What if something happens? You could be surrounded by the finest prey and yet be left bereft."
"I'd look for fruits or something, then. We use plants for a lot more than soothing aches and healing pains. These," they point to the rounded shapes of the mushrooms in their pan, "are fungi, for example. I could live off only them for a long time. I'm also trained in botany, so I probably won't poison myself by mistake."
Kal Myhk hums, but he still shifts on his perch. Feri' tries not to wince and gives the simmering concoction another stir. "And if there are none of those, either? The lands of Ishgard are harsh and frosted. I imagine there must be corners unfortunately free of such greenery."
"Then if I can't find, that's what this is for." Feri turns down the heat and lifts their ingredient bag, turning the lip inside-out to show Kal Myhk the silvery fabric within. He leans in to study. "Careful now. It keeps food fresh. This material on the inside retains a chill as long as I remember to keep some ice in it, and the outside is thick, see? Then there are more layers between the two, to help keep temperature from escaping. I carry a lot of food with me quite regularly, and some of it can last nearly forever in the right conditions."
"I see. Very useful, for one who flits about as you do."
At last mollified, Kal Myhk settles down on his perch and turns his attention off and away, apparently content to simply savor in company. Free from the ministrations of ever-shifting tiny claws, Feri takes the opportunity to pull out a container.
For a minute, all is at peace. In the distance, sprites crackle and shrubs sway. A young dravanian revels in the presence of his strange auri friend, and only sometimes glances back down at whatever odd thing it is they are doing right now. The au ra does not glance back, wholly occupied by their task, and for want of something to do Kal Myhk keeps a diligent eye on the surrounding wildlife— unlikely though it may be they would spring at the duo so close to Anyx Trine.
Or at least, he does until a small plate brimming with food is thrust into his peripheral. He turns, startled, and meets Feri'um's open gaze.
"I made plenty."
Kal Myhk considers them a moment, then the plate. Delicately, he pulls one of the chunks of meat from the pale sauce and, with a quick flick, swallows it down. He blinks a few times and looks at it again, and Feri'um smiles. They place the dish down on the stone beside them and take up their own full container, small metal tool in hand.
"Here. Just leave anything you don't want, we'll toss it into the shrub later."
"Thank you."
The spices and meat both are unfamiliar to Kal Myhk, and blended as they are any resemblance they might have once borne to the creatures here in the forelands has long faded. And while he can't imagine eating something so rich and messy for each meal, well. He'd been good lately, so this could probably count as a treat, right?
In no time at all, they both devour their meals. It takes a moment for Kal Myhk to figure out how to hook his claws under the porcelain without dropping it, and another to flick the remains of sauce and herbs free. Feri'um wraps it in a cloth before returning it to their bag.
"I should think I might like to see more of your strange cooked dishes someday, Feri'um." Kal Myhk tosses his head eagerly. "I was unaware mankind's meals could be so flavorful, even if cooked meat seems almost a waste. I'd not eat it forever, the way you must to survive— but a delightful exception, nonetheless."
Feri' grins. "I'm glad it has your seal of approval. A lot of dishes like that are very different from one another, so when next I come back I'll try to have something new."
"It is a promise, then."

〈 ✥ *〉┊   Sweat and disquiet prickle down the nape of the wayward knight’s neck as his chest heaves with great gasps of breath. Aching arms hold his greatsword aloft, the sharp end of its heavy-weighted blade pointing down towards the ground. Right now, it is not a sword so much as a shield. As he fights to catch his breath, he stares, unblinking, over the ornately carved hilt. When his gaze catches Florence’s, his heart drops somewhere down into his stomach. It’s almost enough to have slightly trembling fingers uncurl from around the handle. Almost.
It’s not the first time the other knight has been on the opposite end of his blade. They both have needs to meet, separate paths to follow; sometimes, those paths cross on rocky terrain. Those instances have always been few and far between, and any harm done dissipated in the frothing foam of shared drinks and, if called for, needlework on battle-worn skin. The tension that existed before lives now only in memory. He would have even argued no tension existed at all. A bit of healthy rivalry, certainly. But never any true ill-will, nor any personal grievance.
     Until now.
“Flo,” he drawls the other’s nickname as casually as he typically would when greeting them, albeit with far more rasp. He even grins as he usually would. Or he tries to. He’s entirely certain his good eye does not light up with warm comradery as it normally would when they join him inside a dingy tavern or take his side in a petty squabble among the other wayfarers. But it’s the least he can do to show he won’t turn the deadly slant of the blade upon them. Not yet. It’s a precaution, to have a weapon as strong as this to buffer the tides of crackling uncertainty between the two of them. He swallows, the tendons of his neck straining to work past the lump of dread forming in the middle of his throat. He hates that, in the moment, their name feels foreign in his mouth. Like he’s not quite sure how it should sound when shaped by his voice.
Feris takes an experimental step to the side, boxing himself further out of reach. He lowers his greatsword out of an actively readied position, but doesn’t yet murmur the spell that would store it away. He can’t. He can’t. It would make him an incredible ally to cast aside his means of protection and shout their praises for such a definitive end of that grueling battle against such a harrowing foe. They’ve saved the two of them countless wounds and fatigue. He should be slinging an arm over their shoulders and laughing between wheezing breaths about how they should have pulled those stops a long time ago. But doing so would also make him a gargantuan fool.
“....I’m not going to ask you to explain,” he says between heavy breaths, and he can’t hide the slight quaver of his voice. He shouldn’t be saying this to them. While they haven’t exactly bared their souls to each other, they also aren’t strangers keeping poison-coated secrets in the dark. Now is the time to offer an open hand. To assure them that he understands the burden of cryptic and coveted power. To say that, while he cannot begin to fathom where that surge of destruction came from, he does not fear it. Not when it’s their hands wielding it. Yet he does not. Self-preservation demands nothing less than the possible burning of this bridge he’s only halfway crossed in finding who he believes could be a true friend. And so self-resentment for it stains the inside of his mouth with a bitter taste as, instead, he intones, “But I do need to ask you to tell me just how long you’ve been capable of doing… that.”

@phantasmaw asked: "Well, ain't you a sight for sore eyes?" Feris might be a little tipsy, but he knows exactly what he's doing when he winds his arm back and delivers a solid SMACK right on Deimos's ass. He even has the audacity to squeeze. "Figure we've mooched off this fine establishment more 'n enough. How 'bout we head up for the evening and spend the night doing nothing but a bit of chase kissing and holding hands over the covers?"
Tumblr media
Deimos is all too aware of Feris approaching behind him, he’s already familiarized himself with the way the diplomat’s steps sound- even if the rhythm was a tad off. Due to Feris’s intoxication, no doubt. The prince is quick to say his farewell’s to both his acquaintances, ready to slip an arm around Feris’s waist and lead them both back to the palace walls. A grin is already set in place when he hears Feris take that first breath, and he’s about to turn to meet the other man’s gaze.
Until he’s stunned into place by the bone rattling smack to his ass.
The prince sucks in a sharp breath, hard enough to feel like there was a jab at his lung. The sting at his ass only heightens when Feris squeezes over the forming bruise, and Deimos couldn’t even process what was said to him. The poor royal was still struggling to grasp what just happened. Working every IQ point to wrap his brain around Feris’s actions. His ass was just slapped- He, the new crowned prince of Rasolis, was smacked so hard it felt like his soul was forced from his body. Deimos couldn’t even find himself admiring the knight’s strength, not when it was being used on him. Not when it was being used on a very sensitive, normally untouched part of his body.
Deimos stiffly turns his head, brows scrunched together when he see’s Feris’s grinning face. The bastard son never considered himself a stick in mud, at least, when compared to his ( now dead ) brothers. But being slapped on the ass was an entirely new, and unexpected experience. He wasn’t sure how to react, his mind racing, yet empty all at once. What does he say? Do? What measures does he take-? For once in life, Deimos was not two steps ahead, he did not suspect this outcome and prepare for it. He was in entirely open waters, left to the sharks with no defense.
Tumblr media
“You,” he finally starts with a frown and his hand wrapping itself around Feris’s wrist, “are now a Rasolis criminal, a terrorist of the royal family itself. Count yourself lucky I don’t turn you in.” He’s entirely joking, of course, but his pride needs to heal after such blatant humiliation and disrespect. “You should be thanking me for being so merciful.”

THE ACHE IS UNLIKE ANYTHING HE’S EVER FELT BEFORE ,  a weighted sink that reaches deep down into a pulseless heart .  in this undead life never once did he think that the answers he sought out might have turned out to be so unbearable .  schism of the body and soul ;  since when has the light of the sun seemed so dark ?  ‘ it’s not mine , ‘  it’s not his ,  it’s not his ,   NONE OF IT’S HIS .  ‘ feris ,  i ---  i remembered something . ‘  he has to admit this .  ‘ i ...  don’t think this is my real body . ‘  and what ,  then ?  didn’t that make him a dirty thief ?  didn’t he steal it ?  did he not dig it up like the dog he was ,  and defile it ?  he can only whine and wheeze where dry ,  hollowish sockets refuse to let him weep .  IT’S NOT HIS ,  and he doesn’t even know how to leave it .  how to lay a corpse back to rest with just whispers ,  how to shed proper grieving tears and apologize to the dead ---  THAT HE CURSED BACK TO LIFE .
‘ i was supposed to go with him ,  but i couldn’t even do that much --- ‘  JUST GIVE ME ONE MORE CHANCE !  he couldn’t stop howling that day .  how could he have forgotten it ?  it echoes in a procession of grim memories :  no kiss woke the pharaoh ,  no late love or bodily warmth rejuvenated what sickly spirit had already wasted away .  surely he had been brought in for the sake of a dying boy’s comfort ,  though he couldn’t quite understand the human tongue :  the face he wore now had never born such an expression ,  ever-calm ,  ever-patient ,  waiting for a bond that never formed .  there must have still been scars and holes from every selfish bite marring these wrapped hands of his ,  a lingering mark of every cruel ,  toothy snap despite the gentle palms that had tried to reach out and feed and pet him .  the memory rots in his mouth and leaves him sick with the rot of regret .
