He'd act like he doesn't like how much physical affection, hed be all "love is feable it isn't going to last and most people that are motivated by it end up crying in someone's couch" but everytime you headed his warnings, he'd get a tad...pretty annoyed. "I thought you didn't like me being that way" "I do" for the first time you sigh disapointedly "Alright buddy" "so you're not even going to call me Romeo now" you somehow can feel him putting hands on his hips, expect him to be ranting in his dreams because he didn't ever expect you to call him anything other than Romeo and not hug him for 6 minutes. You've learned giving him a small kiss is usually enough for him to forgive you.

You're also the person behind how polished the bed is, with Romeo or not. synopsis -> sirius shows you his collection of odd sentimental items :)

the dimly lit common room felt more peaceful tonight than most other nights, most of the other gryffindors were already delicately tucked in for the night.

typically the marauders, mainly james and sirius, wouldve kept the whole house up. however, tomorrow called for james— early quidditch practice, whilst sirius found himself boredly keeping you company.

he would let out an exaggerated sigh every couple of minutes, trying to get your attention, which had failed till just about now.

"sirius, youre driving me bloody insane. what do you want?"

your eyes barely left the fire to glare at him, only to see him stand up and wander off. though odd, sirius was always odd. therefore you did not bother to call after him, nor even look fully his way.

your eyes returned to the fire, until the cushion beside you weighed down once more. finally your head turned his way.

"darling, look through these with me will you?"

his petnames had always pissed you off when you were younger, you'd always had a large crush on him. that was until the two of you had drunkenly shared an evening together, and things changed.

youd never officially started dating, you were both too frightened to truly commit to anything.

you sighed, finally shuffling to sit facing him on the couch. in his lap rested a box of random junk, some records, some photos, even an old beer bottle.

"whats all this, pads?" you hummed delicately sliding your fingers over the rim of the box.

he dug his hand into the box pulling out the old beer bottle, dawning a look of faux wonder as his eyes met yours.

he went on with the items, swiftly describing every item as he did. the cutest of all was the idea that he held onto things from all his friends.

a guitar pic from marlene, something mary had 'thrifted him'— even though he had no recollection of what that meant— photos of them all.

he wasn't necessarily sentimental, however he felt it was rude to throw away things that could mean something to someone else.

he'd never ever thought the bottle you'd both shared was important, but a fraction of him believed you would have kept it had you had any less to drink.

you listened through it all, though your eyes stayed loosily trained on the bottle, you'd thought he'd forgotten. however, he was rather quick to catch on.

"d'you think i forgot?"

"honestly, yes."

he gave you a smile, his brow raising dramatically, "you take me as a fool then?"

"a fool? i dont think i said all that."

"oh you've totally ruined me, a fool!" he faked yet another pout, throwing himself back on the common room couch.

you groaned at him, quickly jumping to your own defense, "listen, im not calling you a fool, i just—"

"i know what you meant, dear." his look went back to you once again, not bothering to sit up. "only a dimwitted fool would've forgotten. im just the fool who was too scared to make it more."

"you the fool!" you laughed, it only caused a wince as he misinterpreted your demenor, "we're both the fools, sirius. we've been out here passed bed and not one of us has even begun to entertain the idea of being together."

so. theres too many iterations of him over time and space in the universes hes a part of to narrow this down, but at least as far as the iterations of him that have existed on earth- theyve been in many relationships, married many times, etc. etc. its basically vampire that marries mortals logic, only the ankhanum can die out and return, memories can pass on, etc. etc.

the version of him in dead meat has a whole history he refuses to elaborate on, but basically theyve done this song and dance theyre doing with betsy before, just with other humans.

but to be less boring and vague, here's what an ankhanum wedding would look like:

beach wedding would be ideal. this man is going ass out in hot weather.

there would be feasting and hedonistic revelry into the wee hours of the night.

there will be substances to abuse. the ankhanum are intrigued by psychedelics and other such things.

what ill charitably call the 'meat lovers' cake would also be ideal, but if he has to settle for a proper cake of flour and such he'll cope. and probably eat the majority of it. its for him, after all.

i dont think we want to know what the party favors would be, but if he figured he could get away with it, hed be bagging up parts of himself as takeaways. give it to all your friends and neighbors!

if the paper chase existed in whatever time period this is taking place in, you know he'd be playing 'the common cold (the epidemic)'.

he'd also be picking up a guitar (or making one out of his own body) and trying to play to it himself. i imagine over the years he's gotten pretty good at guitar.

whoevers fool enough to crash his wedding will be pulled apart and made into accessories and those will be the substitute party favors.

hi again!!! you must have the patience of a saint for waiting so long, but yes hello i am here and i have been DYING to answer your ask and once again i stuck it under a read more bc what is concise wording??? idk her shes not here we only ramble here! warnings for excessive over-explanation and the obsessive thoughts of someone who has been in this stupid fandom for way, way too long.

i also wanted to address the super sweet notes you wrote on your original ask that had me smiling like an absolute fool, btw!!!! so first off: THANK YOU AND IM SO GLAD YOU AGREE!!!!! listen, the canon dynamic between these two has always given me a very severe case of brain rot, and the ways in which that dynamic can be removed from canon and smacked into any au is just soooooo juicy. and while yes i do adore airhead spain with all my heart, i do see it as very reductive to his character and who he actually is. and this also kinda bleeds into answering this ask, so yay! two birds one stone!

my entire thing with these two is the fact that spain is, at his core, an empire. god, gold, glory. that was his whole thing, ruthlessly so. and while yes i do believe the nations dont personify their governments and instead represent the best of their people, it would be foolish to ignore what it means for spain (and antonio) to be the spanish empire, bloody, greedy, damned, troubled, all of it. and that bleeds a lot into how i imagine antonio to be!

antonio (and spain) will always carry a lot of guilt to me. he acts sweet and bubble and sunshiny, and i do think he genuinely is that way naturally, but a lot of it is also an attempt to distance himself from what he used to be, either from guilt, from wanting others to forget, or for whatever reason. who he is in current day is not who he was, but its still there and it is something he grapples with constantly. so, in the vein of my pirate au, antonio as a pirate is someone who is angry.

hes angry at the world, hes angry at his government, hes angry at the state of life for anyone who isnt wealthy and born into generational status, hes angry at the favoritism, at the restrictions, at everything. hes someone who wants freedom. spain as a character doesnt like to be restrained, hated his forced job of folding flowers, hated he couldnt do more when he was once so powerful (to the point where america even said anytime spain was near him hed try and hit him with his knees, so clearly he knows how to hold a grudge) and antonio would feel a lot of resentment to the state of the world as it exists around him but unable to change it—until he can

and lovino, who is angry but for so many other reasons. lovino, who is born into a gilded cage that he cant even touch, lovino, whose entire life was built around his younger (legitimate) brother who will one day inherit everything his grandfather passes on that lovino cannot have, even if they do love him, even if they do cherish him and give him an education and steady work and a comfortable life. but thats not enough, and why would it be? his name is worthless in this society. he barely exists outside of his small family, and whenever he's there, there is always the elephant in the room of none of this is mine, none of this will ever be mine. so yes hes angry, hes resentful, but hes also stuck. where can he go, realistically, when this is all hes ever known? and he loves his family. hes loyal, hes caring, he adores his family. he just also resents them because they are everything he can never be. (and i do throw seborga into the brothers. they are a trio to me and they always will be!)

so when they meet, when antonio sees this little angry brat with so much pent up aggression start barking insults at him in front of his own crew, how can he not be fascinated by that? and he sees someone wearing a shiny family crest of a prominent venetian family, and its so easy to him. take him, maybe teach him some respect, dump him in italy, get some money, and fuck off to the ocean again for the next prize.

and it would work if they both werent so fucking stupid at the same time. bc just like romano and spain, these two are two sides of the same dumb ass spectrum. angry and hopeful with different styles of attachment that fit just perfectly enough to make it feel clandestine. two people who could just so happen to understand where the other is coming from, with enough understanding to get it. and suddenly theyre not so different after all, are they, considering they both got screwed over in life, forced into roles they didnt want until someone gave them an out, until they give each other an out.

and then it becomes a lot less about stealing from the world and keeping it for themselves as it is giving each other the world, wealth and riches that belong to them and them alone, an open ear and willing hands and the understanding that antonio would rip the stars from the sky and temper raging oceans for lovino if he asked, hoping only for lovino to love him in return and choose to stay, to seek freedom and something different.

its entirely selfish and dangerous and doomed to fail from the start, which we as people in 2024 know, but its romantic in its desperation and honest in how actual real life pirates were furious with their lives and were entirely fucked over after the war of spanish succession, and while yes most of those pirates were english (and arthur is a big player in this story too, obvi), spain did have its fair share, esp in retaliation to what the english were doing to spanish treasure ships.

thinking about how snm would realize they got feelings for one another and i feel like for sam the realization would come much later like. into their 20s at least but for max i think hed crush on him on and off since they would be like teens or something? im a sucker for stories about my ships realizing their feelings and getting together so its hard for me to just pick One to go with. if i was a writer i would make like 80 different situations a week 😭 but with these two since theres no canon, there doesnt have to be a set timeline anyway and there can be a morbillion of them. like if i look at the cartoon that is a married couple with a house and all. so it narrows it down to getting together much sooner... then in ttg you just have them perhaps not fully in it, maybe they talked about it, maybe not yet at all, maybe s3 could be where sam realizes his feelings, etc etc (i dont see them as a couple yet there though) and so on

anyway my fav idea is that max just has feelings for sam but hides it (maybe even forgets about it from time to time and then falls in love with him all over again) and this goes on for years and years but he thinks sam wouldnt be interested at all so he lets it be (maybe except one time drunkenly fooling around back in like college, or at least during the one week before they got kicked out lmao)

sam realizes it much later, in their 20s or early 30s (not even early middle age man yaoi.... weak...) and i think he would be a bit "afraid" of it all, i do think hes bi but not having experience with men especially and it would be a scary and unknown area for him plus he wouldnt want to somehow hurt max and ruin their friendship and all that. reassuring himself that would never happen and no matter what they will be best friends even if he told max but he would still try to bury those feelings at first. big on "try", they would still slip out in other ways like caring for max and just the usual (how they talk, touches, stuff like headpats and throwing max etc), thats also the thing that would be like "oh yeah. whats there to be scared of", the fact that once they would get together, nothing would really change at all? they already have their own love language of sorts and are always together anyway etc so it would just go from "partners" (work) to "partners" (work and life and everything else) i think. i also like how in ttg you can look at some things as "oh hes deep in the closet" even if its not written like that..

its also hard for me to separate canon and fanon at times and hard to like. work with some stuff, its always a mess in my head but a good chunk of the fans ship them and take them as a couple. me personally i would see it only in the cartoon but even there its more of a joke (but if you show some things as facts it can be easily viewed that way) but for the rest of the media it stays vague (which i do like, except ttiv, you know what you did ttiv *shakes fist*) but there i keep thinking about how max is sort of shown as gay but not really. like its more of a 'if youre gay or a shipper etc you see him as gay, otherwise not' situation to me. if you say hes gay online, there will be people telling you that hes not, its never been explicitly said (true) etc he just doesnt like girls.. and i noticed the irony of how this is a time where people that normally are against aro/ace characters they will paint him as such just so that he isnt gay, lol. like "no he cant have anyone if he can only have men 🤬" anyway. that said yeah they can be aroace best friends, just for me personally id prefer to be more romantic - in their own way. ofc they dont go to romantic dinners but they can go blow up a shooting range or go to a burger joint and see which one of them can eat more burgers before throwing up, but they can also smooch when the player/reader/watcher isnt watching, you know. max hates kissing though, which can either end in they dont kiss much Or they do, its just on the same page as with them hating when others touch them but theyre glued to each other 24/7 (or like the case with max hating seeing naked ppl but he himself being naked normally) so like he hates seeing it, but is fine with sam and sam only?

derailed strongly there, i wanted to talk about how they would also tell each other, thats also something i cant decide on but me like a little bit of angst of course so it would have to come with either a little misunderstanding or going "too far" -> realizing it wasnt too far but what the other very much wants etc etc. actually i have nothing here, moving on

uhh and i also think about them proposing? i think they both would want to. theres also so many ideas but my fav is that sam gets to propose first, but max just goes fuck! beat me to it. and he pulls out a ring as well and they get to propose at the same time (with sam perhaps getting emotional, max would call him a sap but then get a bit emotional too for once) but then theres also something silly for the comics/htr where i can imagine it more like max mentioning marriage, as a joke or not, and sam pulling out a comically oversized ring pop for him (then they have the """"shotgun"""" wedding lol) then for ttiv which is my dearly hated storyline. they maybe proposed in the past, but idk if they actually got married, they ended it because it got rocky. perhaps sam got cold feet but max would be the one to end it (then make harsh remarks about sams dating life and all that, but deep down being glad its not working out for sam cause max has always been the jealous type) and maybe they finally get therapy (or max contacts sybil after ages and she gives him some advice and such) and perhaps after splitting up for a bit like in the cartoon (insert snm divorce gif) they get back together now that theyre like in their 50s and realize its no use, theyre not really holding each other back as they would be worried maybe but that they truly want to be with each other and they get actually married after trying again. i think its silly for them to get married like youd expect maybe sam to think about that but not max but i think hed be very excited about it mainly cause of the food at the reception

i always knew from first hand experience and interest in the welcome to the game games that adam was a giant asshole. i dont know if he actually has issues or not (it would unfortunately prove the righteous types of online people that these types of ""disturbed"" games cant be made by ""normal"" people) but im making it explicit now that if he has its not relevant in the slightest to the fact that he is like, just a douche. leagues different from yandev my favorite dev case study sure, but at the same time not that far off (im always saying well at least adam has finished games, then i remember the perpetual limbo of his magnum opus rides with strangers, again not too dissimilar to yansim)

you know, typical douchery like trump hat on twitter, hahaha they hate me cause im trolling im real i dont protect the snowflakes and i dont make easy games if you want easy mode youre getting a pile of shit as an ending (not a direct quote!! its been years!!! i dont remember what he said!! only the vibe of it remained)

i also knew he had a "troll update" to wttg2, but afaik i honest to god thought it was twitch integration and nothing more. at the time i didnt know said integration had mandatory 'ask first' rule, and the troll update was enabled by default.

i recently got a video suggested to me about a guy analyzing if markipliers runs of the game were influenced by adam to be doomed to failure, then talk about what adams update was, then say 'fools! this was the gateway example to talk about the ethics of including such things in games!' which ill admit wasnt really what i clicked the video for but interesting topic nonetheless given what the troll update actually was... a backdoor to edit the game as he saw fit if he felt like it.

THEN i learned he bricked the game of a streamer that had given him copious exposure before because someone asked the streamer what he thought of adam and, like literally everyone else on the planet, the answer was "an asshole".

man i dunno. im surprised at mylsef for being surprised hed put a backdoor in the games, given its very inline with both the games subjects and who he is as a person. i was not suprised he used it as petty revenge elon musk style. and im still thinking about the video so thats something. he said he took it out eventually but that was definitely the straw on the camels back for me in terms of ever getting the games to play myself. a true shame, its the type of dumb frustrating fun i tend to enjoy.

You should’ve known that when nolan said “small gathering” there would be nothing small about it. There were people everywhere, most of which, you were pretty sure not a soul who lived in the house actually knew. But it was one of the first warmer days and so basically anyone who was out would wander over.

You heard his laugh before you saw his face. It was loud and full and warmed you from the inside out. Then you saw its owner and he gave you a smile that could’ve fooled you into thinking he had been saving it just for you. You made him wait a little longer before actually going to say hello, only offering a smile and a wave before moving on. No matter where you went though you kept catching glimpses of him- in the kitchen, on the couch, on the way to the bathroom, the backyard, the porch- and every time he had that goofy grin on his face. He seemed to genuinely enjoy every conversation he was a part of, and every person he talked to. You were drawn to his puppy-like personality, no matter how hard you were trying to fight it off.

You’d never slept together, but there was definitely something there. The flirting was off the charts since the day nick had introduced you to his d partner. Flirty banter, frequent texts, some fleeting and not so fleeting touches. It was innocent enough and all in good fun. He clearly had expected you to follow him to the kitchen, but you insist on staying outside and being served by him after the little stunt he pulled. He shakes his head, smirking at your stubbornness but follows your orders. “Dont go far and behave while im gone” he calls over his shoulder with a wink.

By the time he comes back, you’ve moved groups, chatting with the younger guys. You’re not sure whether it's the presence of guys around his age or the half empty cup in his hand, but his flirting game seems to have leveled up since sending him inside. He cant take his hands off of you and when they flit away for the briefest of seconds, his eyes take their place. His arm comes around your shoulders as he hands you your own cup and it stays there until it falls lower and lower, sliding into your back pocket. You take a peek up at him and aside from the tiny smirk playing at the corner of his lips, he carries on his conversation with Dylan as usual. You dont mind the feeling of his hand or the message it sends. You let yourself lean a bit into his side, your arm coming around his waist, trying to follow the hot topic at hand. Your move catches ethan off guard, as hed been the more forward one so far tonight and he stumbles over his words multiple times even though you know there’s no possible way that he’s drunk after one cup. “What? One drink and you’re white girl wasted, Edwards?” you pinch his side, making him jump. Luke and mark share a look, hiding their smug grins as they lift their cups to their lips.

Ethan plays into it with a smirk, suddenly slurring his words. “S’not just one, babe, or maybe it is. What’s it matter, good excuse as any to do this” he says, taking your hand to twirl you around in a circle and straight into his broad chest. He stumbles for effect, sending you a grin and you roll your eyes but still lean into him with a smile on your face. Ethan loves the way you press into him and the smile that seemingly hasn’t left your face since he’s been glued to your side and he’d like to think he was part of the reason for that even if he had to act like a fool. And you love the way his goofy smile gets impossibly bigger too.

“Andddd, we’re out,” mark announces. The other two nodding in agreement.

“Be safe!” luke hollers.

“Use protection,” dylan adds before pulling a duker and scurrying away while you and ethan flip them all off.

“Now, where were we?” he asks, picking back up where he left off. He dances the two of you around dramatically, his arms around your waist and he was singing the wrong lyrics to just about every song. His words were mixed up and his movements didn’t match the beat but you couldn't care less. You were laughing, begging him to stop, not meaning it at all. you let him sway you around and you moved right along with him.

he’s barely paying attention to what’s actually playing, he just can’t get enough of those giggles that leave your lips as he spins you around. That is until WAP comes on and then it’s game over. Apparently it’s "his anthem" and he was still heated that bords had stolen the solo from him for mock rock, claiming seniority. “I swear i would’ve done it so much better,” he pouts. Your brain starts to do some thinking straight to the gutter and suddenly you must see what “better” looks like. “Well now’s your chance, E. Prove it, show me whatchya got.” That’s all the little encouragement he needs to get to work.

And boy does he put on a show for you. he does the dance oh so well, looking you dead in the eye as he practically dry humps the ground and you swear pathetically for a second that you’d give anything in that moment to be the one under him. And then just like that he’s off the ground, pressed up against your back saying the vulgar lyrics in your ear. his voice, twice as deep as it was earlier, his breath, hot against your skin. his mouth hovers so close to your neck you can just barely feel his lips and the way they smirk when his thumb that’s pressed against the pressure point of your wrist feels your pulse quicken.

The way you grab onto him when he pulls you close again makes his head spin. he’s out to impress tonight, insisting that tonight is finally the night he makes the move that he’s made in his head a million times over. you have the same goal in mind and he’s just taking it too damn slow so if you have to lean a little closer to finally feel his lips on you then so be it. “Fuck it” you think. You ‘accidentally’ lean closer to get him to press his lips against you and once he does he leaves a couple kisses before pulling back enough to look down at you with a smirk, “you did that on purpose.”

“So what if i did? whatcha gonna do about it?” you tease him back. you can see the gears turning, the ball in his court. “well, for starters...” he says, his tongue darting out to wet his lips and you can’t tear your eyes away.

He hesitates for a second, making you wait until you pout a little, “oh we’re pouting now?? I guess I need to fix that, huh?” He leans in, still slow as ever, but the kiss is great. Innocent to start until he presses closer, hands going down to grab your ass. You’re shocked at how forward he was, with how long it had taken him to build up to this, but given how the night had been going you shouldn’t have been surprised and who’s to complain?

You melt a little further into him, parting your lips to let him in, but fighting his tongue for dominance. The only thing that breaks you apart is the fact that someone shoves into your back. Ethan snaps out of it, breathless and ready to go after whoever just ran into you. You were a small person so it usually happened a lot and looked worse with how far someone could send you flying than it probably really was. Seeing you get shoved did not sit well with Ethan, but the person was gone so fast he couldn’t do anything about it. You laugh a little and grab his face, making him look at you, “hey, I’m okay. There’s no need to go fight someone over it.” he eyes you, checking for any sign of harm and making sure this wasn’t the laugh before the tears and when he realizes all is well, he begins to relax, “okay fine. No one gets to toss you around. Well, no one other than me.”

Your brow quirks and your lips curl into a smirk. He just went from sweet puppy to protective bulldog and it was very attractive. “Oh you’re a big shot now are ya? It took you months to kiss me, which I initiated by the way, how long am I going to have to wait for you to toss me around?”

Ethan can’t even begin to hide his shock at what just came out of your mouth. you flip that switch in him so quick. it’s laughable how his mouth gapes and eyes widen for the slightest second before he recovers. He loves how forward you’re being and he grins, “excuse me? You’re saying you want me to toss you around? I think I could arrange that. Bet you’d look even more pretty asking me for it.”

“is that not what i just did? or do you need to hear a ‘please’ attached to that?” your fingers trailing up and and down his arms as you tease him. “are you one of those guys that requires manners in bed or cant we just get down and dirty?”

He’d swallow hard, trying to see if you were being serious or not but when you don’t back down he takes the initiative. “Oh we can do down and dirty if you want but can you handle it? I don’t want you whining so maybe you need to set yourself a safe word now.”

You plaster a sweet smile on your face and toss your hair over your shoulder before leaning in. “there’s only one way to find out. I dont know how to make this any clearer for you. I don’t care what you do, just fuck me.”

Ethan sucks in a breath at your brash words, you were throwing curve balls left and right tonight and he’d be damned if he didn’t go for that homerun. He rolls his tongue along the inside of his bottom lip, making you bite yours as your eyes track his every movement. He works to slow his breathing enough to say two words, “say less”, before he’s making a beeline for the exit with you in tow.

Your adrenaline is pumping with every hurried step and your body wants him now. You tug at where your hands are connected and ethan glances over his shoulder to meet your gaze. His eyes are wild, jaw set, and you know he wants this just as bad as you do. You try to pull him down the hallway to the bedroom, bathroom, anywhere really, but he puts his foot down. “Ive fantasized about this for way too long and you’re not just some hookup im gonna fuck in someone else’s house” he says shaking his head. Of all times for him to be gentlemanly, now was really not opportune.

“Ethan,” you whine. You could see him already start to cave, hearing you say his name like that.

“No,” he says, though less convincingly this time. His hands come up on either side of your cheeks, cradling your face and he lowers his head so that he's peering down at you. “i’m taking you home.”

While that might happen, in fact you counted on it, it just wasn't going to happen yet. You looped your fingers through his belt loops and pulled his hips flush with yours. You tried your hardest to wipe the smirk off your face at feeling how hard he already was, the reward of the night’s efforts, and tried to look as innocent as possible. But you can’t help glancing down at where your bodies met before asking, “and what if i can’t wait that long, E, what if i need you now?”

You can visibly see his resolve shatter into a million pieces and you know you’ve just gotten your way. Ethan’s mouth opens and closes before “fuck” tumbles out. You giggle, pushing up on your toes to kiss him hard before pulling him to the closest door.

“One round and then i’m taking you home and we’re doing this the right way.” he warns you as he locks the door, hands hungrily finding your body once more and hoisting you up so that your legs wrap around his waist. His lips latch onto your neck and find that sweet spot in a matter of seconds. “Ethan, im only gonna say this one more time,” you say in between pants as his teeth bite down, “i dont care what you do, just fuck me already.”

Gosh, so i read Runaway Max, and before i get into my book report this shit aint canon, it says its an official novel but im taking that with a grain of salt cause the cali backstory timeline doesnt match st3. But this book had so many moment where i was like oh man are they gonna go in depth with the child abuse at Billy AND Max by Neil?? And they just side stepped that narration everytime it came up. Also if i took a shot every time the author called Billy dangerous id get alcohol poisoning. I know its told from the point of view of Max but come on, you can be smarter then this. Anyways this is gonna be long and rambly probably

I just cant get over how many times this story touched base on not just telling but showing litteral child abuse and side stepped it each time, i guess the show does that too tho oop for starters fuck Neil, and also fuck Susan. If i was out on a family dinner and some man i knew for a couple months reprimanded my child for not calling him father, hed be the one being sent away from the dinner table not my child and it makes me so mad and sad that there are actually parents out there who are like that. Your gonna send MY daughter to the car for disrespecting you?? Great, im leaving with her. See you never.

Billy left the reasteraunt to talk to Max at the car and just, look. Let them bond over this awful man being awful. This to me read as Billy making an attempt to warn or maybe protect Max and its just left right here in that paragraph. It makes me so sad any possible understanding between the two starts and stops there. I know this is told from Max's point of view but its very obvious the author made up their mind on how one dimensional they think Billy is. Which is wild casue they kept pointing out signs of abuse in him, like prior to this car moment we have Max having this observation

My guy is out right dissociating, hyper aware of his surroundings and unpredictable moods is a damn trauma response. From the words of my dear friend "you wrote a beautifully wrecked character, dont throw that thing out and teach everyone to do the same" also this aint canon but max thinks Billy is fun sometimes and that has me so soft.

And then this entire last scene in the book with billy is just, so fucking tone deaf. "he was damaged. Broken, maybe" yall i thought we were going somewhere with that but nope, im the fool for believing an abused traumatized character would get properly acknowledged but it was a big "hes just like his dad so he'll never be good and also hes worse then his dad, hes crazy" and im foaming at the mouth.

This author is such a billy anti, i think st4 took notes from her for how to represent Billy. I know its all told from Max, a 12 year old whos just sharing her feelings and observations but so much of this was just. Hhhhhh exhausting.

It wouldve been so easy to have Billy zone out and dissociate with the burning cat instead of forcing him to laugh and act insane (also if you think lighting a dead animal on fire is the making of a sociopath have you never been outside as a kid and found something dead and just, fucked with it. Its dead, i think lighting a dead animal on fire is probably the most tame tampering you could do. Not to call myself out but when i was maybe 8 i found a dead toad and i wanted to know what its skeleton looked like and how it decomposed so i took it apart. Kids are bizarre and teen boys are kinda destructive.

The whole scene with billy coming home halloween night and getting beat was upsetting and how it was never mentioned again was infuriating. Him getting attacked by Neil, punched several time getting a black eye and bloodied lip then beaten with a fucking belt. How do you just willingly write that shit then turn around and go "oh yeah nah this 17 year old who ive just said was verbally and physically abused multiple times is a dangerous monster who doesnt deserve sympathy". Im over it, if aang can put aside a century long fued to help his abused enemy who in turn still chased him off but was redeemed in the end then Billy and Max have the stepping stones to do the same, have max put an ice pack down, let billy Sort himself out, its so easily im going insane

And that bullyshit narrative of saying Neil is racist and how Billy probably is too. fuck that, i cant speak for the racism but when i made my first trans friend i was nervous about having them at the house cause i wasnt sure how my family would react or treat my friend so i opted to keep her away too, my situation was more tame then Max, Billy and Lucas' and my family turned out to not be transphobic so it was fine but im gonna self project that Billy was just manic and worried about Max hanging with a black kid and what Neil would do to lucas and max if he saw them. Seeing as how the man got away with denying Max dinner right infront of Susan who did nothing. But also max says how shes not like her parents so its just unfair to turn around and go neil is awful so billy is also awful and wont ever get better

This book isnt canon but i want a similar book from Billy's point of view. But also all things considered i did like the insight into Max's possibly past in cali, her relationship with her dad and mom was pretty neat, even tho, say it with me, its not canon, i refuse, I'll believe in bigfoot before believing this book was proof read by anyone working on the actual show 🥴 i have more to say but its 2 in the morning and i think my eyes are leaking outa my skull, hope this incoherent lmaoo
