Long sorta rant post abt the irene dimension stuff, sorry :3

i think that the irene dimension's whole "one year=one minute" concept is so cool sometimes, because its not like jess forgot about leap years or anything, she actually calculated that shit ! one second in the irene dimension = ~6.08737 days in the overworld [365.2422 days divided by the 60 seconds it takes for a year to pass], the max amount of leap years possible in the 15 years that everyone was gone wouldve been what, 4, if the year they went in was a leap year ? [meaning that it wouldve had to be before february 29th that they went in if we want it to be 4 extra leap year days. this is also omitting the whole "its not a leap year if its divisible by 100, but it is if its divisible by 400" idea that apparently exists, so lets just pretend this all definitely happened in the odd middle of a century]. thats an extra 3 days if you suppose that the year they went in wasn't a leap year, so supposedly they couldve been in the irene dimension for ~5,478.633 days total, aka EXACTLY 15 years. so if we consider the day they went into the irene dimension as being exactly 15 years in the past from the day they emerged, i think that puts us on a timeline where the day of the war between phoenix drop and scaleswind had to have been [at the earliest] march 1st of a year divisible by 4 ? idk i think its funny if it was exactly 15 years of a gap, like imagine the remaining villagers commemorating the day 15 years ago that their lord and several others disappeared, ONLY FOR HER TO SHOW UP THE EXACT SAME AS SHE WAS THEN. obviously it doesnt have to be exact, just a thought that kinda gives a base for a day of the years that the war and return were on, or at least it could eliminate january and february from the timeline.

how long was zoey in the irene dimension ??? like she only left once laurance and aphmau left. the time difference between when she appeared and when they left during the episode was about 43 seconds total, so considering each second in the irene dimension being around 6.08737 days long, she could've been in there for at least 261.75691 DAYS. A LITTLE MORE THAN 8 AND A HALF MONTHS. THATS SO LONG ??? LIKE DID DANTE AND THE OTHERS EVER QUESTION HOW LONG SHE WAS GONE ??? like imagine the absolute TERROR from malachi and levin once they realize that their only mother figure left has been gone for that long ?? obviously its not probably exactly that long that she was gone, but still, its a long time for those 2 to be left alone with no parental figure [besides maybe dante] to guide them through leading a dying village. if we think that the return date of aph and the others was on march 1st, the [probably] earliest possible anniversary of their disappearance and the war on phoenix drop, that means zoey probably disappeared to the irene dimension sometime in mid-late june of the year before.

also. that means that since aph said a few days before garroth's return that it had only been a few months since they got out of the irene dimension, zoey was honestly probably in there longer than the extended time that garroth was alone with zane [depending on your definition of "a few"]. damn.

ANYWAYS SORRY THAT WAS LONG BUT I THINK THE LITTLE DETAILS AND IMPLICATIONS OF THE IRENE DIMENSION'S TIME DIFFERENCE IS REALLY INTERESTING also it raises a lot of questions for me abt the nether's sense of time. but thats a whole different thing to get into ==|:-3

Been seeing this over and over and it's sort of been annoying me but. Valentino and Alastor are not even remotely comparable. Like. Look I may be a bit biased bc I like Alastor and don't like Valentino beyond the funny moments he has but like.

Okay. Alastor sucks. Like he's a violent dickhead but part of that is that he's very restrained in his violence. The only times we see him do anything outright violent are when he/the hotel are under attack and then his one moment with Husk. His relationship with Husk gets brought up a lot when people make the comparison but to me like.

Throughout the show you see Husk talk shit to Alastor, literally all of the time. He heavily dislikes him (in my opinion a major part of that is bitterness over losing his own title just to become subservient to Al) but he doesn't ever really seem scared of him, beyond the one moment. He and Alastor have known eachother for years and it's pretty clear to me that Alastor sort of just. Let's him say whatever as long as he doesn't hit A Limit. Alastor's own contract is something he's very clearly sensitive about and Husk bringing that up when he was already in a bad mood. I'm not saying the way he treats Husk in this scene is good, or right but just that it makes sense in context.

I guess what really does it for me is Niffty as well? Like it's so clear she loves Al, quite literally crawling all over him and crowning him. They have a very sweet relationship in the show. She's comfortable enough with him to freely speak about her own feelings ("I really like them Alastor. They let me put on roach puppet shows without booing")

You just get the sense that like. Alastors relationship with his contractee's is. Maybe not the most outright friendly but it's not inherently violent.

And then you compare that to Valentino. Valentino is violent, but worse he's impulsive. And also kind of an idiot. Like the first time we see him it's Velvette calling Vox to come deal with him bc the man is on a rampage and killing her models. He has to be talked down from going to the hotel and killing everyone there. (Already a bad idea image wise but like. With the literal Princess of Hell in that hotel it's like. What was your plan for after that Val. What was your plan for after you attacked the only heir to the throne, the literal daughter of the devil. Christ.)

The difference here is that the only contractee we see him interact with is Angel Dust, and their relationship is fraught with abuse. Physical, sexual, and psychological. Valentino enables his drug addiction because it makes Angel more compliant. Even when he is not being violent towards Angel himself, he's still perpetuating that violence through the work he has Angel do (literally the everything about Poison makes me kind of sick to watch. Tbh, like great song but i cannot watch the mv without getting kind of upset. And look there's a conversation in there about sex work, and specifically SAFE sex work but that's not really what this post is.)

Like. There's literally a line in the show about Angel being WATERBOARDED at work. ("You know, Val, he's into that waterboarding shit now - I don't know, it's a kink." - episode 6 welcome to heaven) And this is JUST Angel's perspective. You don't see Valentino's other contracts but from the way Angel is treated, it's kind of clear that he does shit like this to anyone under his control, and thus anyone who cannot tell him No.

Look. You get the sense that Alastor is a dick, but there's no implication that he takes Niffty and Husk out back and beats them when he's aggravated (with them or otherwise.) We literally watch Valentino assault and threaten Angel because there is someone stronger than him [Valentino] who is trying to get him out of work.

[Edit (June 2nd, 2024): I want to clarify that I do like loser, baby and also Husk as a character and this is more abt my grievances with fandom comparing the two. In series, Angel needed that discussion with Husk and even thought their situations aren't 1:1 or even really that similar, it's still clear that Husks attempt to like. I think the best way to understand the ciblings' respective relationships to prism is that, when placed into a human analogue, chartreuse would be the no-contact child once resigned to the monotonous constancy of abuse trying to heal and develop healthy relationships and a new happy unpredictable life for themself but who still feels their abuser's impact, crimson is the one thats stuck relying on the abusive parent they resent and are desperate to be free of but lack the support systems or ability to build them to some degree because of the abuse, and Cobalt is the one who has resigned himself to having to take care of her when shes too old to take care of herself because he has nothing else going on and a weary awareness that she will Not change but like. Thats still his mom, yknow. She needs to be stopped, she cant be allowed to continue wielding power over them or anyone else, but he doesnt want to throw her out like garbage either and he'd usually rather try to appease her than resist her when doing so would be, to him, pointless.

And this is especially sad to me because cobalt is an annoyance to prism. He's the grumpy skeleton twerp. She doesnt like him. Few people do, for every strength he has elsewhere, in the charisma department he's lacking just as much. He tries his best to be a good and dutiful son but it only makes his siblings resent him and his mother doesnt care. Cobalt is so... alone. But his first response to anything is lecturing and punishment, and his second is distance and self-isolating- Cobalt wanted to remove the gods from cpuk, to be Fair to the Mortals, to keep their family's business their own, but the only reason his siblings were able to make the connections that are slowly giving them the chance to heal is BECAUSE they chose to engage with mortals, consequences be damned, because they chose to reach out to people and connect and be connected with despite the rift between their experiences and other people's, something Cobalt explicitly struggles with- and the lecturing and punishment is part of that problem. Its just another way that he pushes people away, even when people try to form connections with him. Its tragic.

Gohan would bring dende a kpop(or well, whatever dbz's verision of kpop is)album to add variety to his music and dendes excited cuz yippee new music!! And hes going through the album and yeah hes a little confused cuz he dont know who tf any of these ppl are but hes still enjoying himself. Anyway he gets to the photocard and he's like "gohan why is there small photos of these artists in the album?" And gohan just shrugs his shoulders cuz he is not so into kpop stuff but he says sumn like "these albums always come with a card like that, i think theyre meant to be collected? i dunno." And Dende's got a twinkle in his eyes and he feels The Need to collect these. So anyways he then proceeds to repeatedly asks Gohan for more albums but that boy don't work he can't get more! So Dende's a little heartbroken but yk what he decides to do? He makes his OWN photocards. He starts taking pictures of his friends and loved ones(probably with some camera gohan owns) gets them printed, and starts arts and crafting with them hoes. He has a lot of popo and gohan, even himself, but piccolo's a tricky one. He considers piccolo's photocards "super rare" but only he knows that. Anyways when gohan finds out about this he probably thinks its really cute and even poses for some.
