thinking abt bllk (no surprise there) and how (at least until now) all (well, most of?) the characters backstories aka basically the reason for their most prominent issues are, instead of extremely tragic and complex events, simply children's logic applied to recurrent situations in their daily lives (and especially the sport they love):

bachira feels lonely: bachira was a weird and lonely kid who was also extremely passionate abt (and talented in) football, more than any other kid, making bachira feel isolated even when he was playing with others. this got even worse when the kids he played with started to resent him, calling him a "monster" and bullying him. while talking with his mom, she told him to keep believing in his inner voice and ignore those who dont understand him, resulting in bachira giving that voice the form of a "monster" that can play football with him to feel less lonely. which, obviously, made him even more lonely, even if it was an imaginary friend created to aliviate that feeling. because bachira still felt lonely, even after many years and even after playing with other people in school who werent any fun for him, he kept the monster by his side. believing no one could ever beat this monster (thank GODNESS he did 🎉!!! HE is the monster no one can beat!!!! his arc is one of my favs hes literally unstoppable now, i love him dude i love h)

isagi holds himself back too much: isagi (i read the light novel abt him hehe) was a timid and mild mannered kid until he discovered football, which he fell in love with. while playing the sport he could let go of his shyness and actually be selfish and go all out. uuuntil... he entered his high school's reputable football club, where the motto was to play as a team above everything else (a very anti-blue lock logic lol). isagi then, in an effort to accomodate to the social norms of the club (bc hes isagi, and off the field hes calmer and timider), had to simmer down in the field as well. supress himself. at times it seems like his on and off switch is kind of stuck.

barou has main character syndrome: barou was a very, on top of talented, meticulous kid and therefore the best in football out of every other kid he knew, who didnt take it as seriously and were more than happy to let him score all the goals. he didnt understand why they were satisfied with letting other people take all the glory, so he secluded himself, convinced that he was the only player that actually mattered on the field. the best. the Main Character. everyone else was completely worthless, their only use being to serve HIM. (until he got his ass kicked by isagi and became the villan instead of the main character, bc oh, shit, barou's not actually the main character???? then he'll hunt down & DESTROY the main character).

rin (god, rin) has a brother complex (i used to hate when ppl oversimplify whats wrong w him w this term but tbh it does boil down to this lol ToT): rin idolized his older brother like crazy and wanted to be just like him. bc he was also blessed with talent and also had a great relationship w sae, he had everything he needed to fulfill his dream of being the 2nd best striker, the 1st obviously being his older brother, who rin viewed as the best, most talented player in the world. when sae comes back from spain and tells him 'the world is big and im not actually the best, you go and be the best striker by yourself' (basically: our (your) dream is over), rin has a fucking breakdown. its not really a tragic, despair-inducing event, objectively speaking. but in the manga its framed as such bc for rin, in his childish logic, it is. bc his brother IS the BEST player, what the fuck do you mean hes not number 1 outside of japan?? ....then what about rin? if his brother cant be the best, rin cant be the 2nd best either, let alone the best. he feels like sae ruined everything, gave up, broke their (rin's) dream!!!! after sae humilliates him, rin directs all of his frustrations at him and bows to defeat him. as long as rin sees himself as sae's little brother, he's never gonna be able to surpass him, bc in rin's mind, sae is still the best, his talented big brother.

ness believes kaiser, not him, is the magician: ness's case is more serious bc his family was (is?) emotionally abusive towards him. basically, like every other kid, ness believed in magic. the concept of magic is exciting for children and gives them, in the form of play, the opportunity to express their creativity and exercise their imagination; work out a way to make the impossible come true. bc this is so important for their development, usually its the parents role to, at least to a certain degree, keep alive the belief that magic is real. ness's parents, on the contrary, shut down this belief bc it didnt match with their own views. they saw his interests as a waste of time, even letting his sibilings bully him and treat him badly to make him give up on them. ness, however, didnt, and instead found a more socially acceptable way to 'do magic' and express his creativity: football. he feared greatly, however, that football would be taken away from him, so in that faithful match in which he met kaiser he decided to put all of his trust and hard work on him, bc ness believed kaiser was the person who would be able to make the impossible, the magic that ness wanted to create, happen. i think the key to unlock his full potential is stop relying on kaiser so much and start believing in his own magic (kind of like what happened in hiori's arc). we have yet to know kaiser's backstory but i have a feeling those two enable each other's worst traits...

OH THIS IS A GOOD ONE… (not owen) made me laugh thank you. this didn’t end up being Quite what you asked but here are my hopes for s5!:

marjan is easy: comphet realization to lesbian arc. I don’t even need them to give her a gf i just want them to Address The Closeted Lesbianism they’ve been handing me over the past four seasons. i want salim to come back (in person or in conversation) for the rule of threes and have it force her to reckon with a lot of assumptions she had about herself. im on my hands and knees about it. I’ve been rewatching with a friend recently and i fucking forgot that they have her say a line about how her favorite place to hide as a kid was the closet. remember those new bts photos where she’s basically wearing the lesbian flag as a headscarf. lone star writers room i am IN YOUR WALLS. also i want to meet her sister. i need someone to call her mouse

nancy my beloved… honestly i just really want a nancy begins episode!! i want to know why she became a paramedic, i want to know about her relationship with her sister and if there’s any particular reason it was a soft spot for her during the DNR episode… I don’t have any particular ideas for specific i just want to know more about her!!! actually I’d love her to have to confront Tim’s death a little more directly. they made that whole thing about Owen which is fucking crazy to me, I’d love for the next time TK gets hurt (lol) for it to be something that dredges that up for her.

grace… miss grace i want to see you angry again. no plot line in mind i just like it when she’s pretending she doesn’t get angry or stubborn, she is such a fascinating character study. i love when she’s a contradiction. she and carlos teaming up was one of my favorite things abt s3, i would be so jazzed to see more things of that flavor.

tommy. hm… I don’t think I have any particular storylines for her in mind but I want more of her and grace and judd together because they are so delightful and lovely and best friends. OH ACTUALLY. I want something with tommy and charlie. this baby that was named in honor of the late love of her life. o don’t know what that story would be but there’s something there for sure…

carlos is the same as nancy tbh, I want a real full carlos begins! I want to meet his sisters! I want to see more of the mess that was growing up gay and feeling out of place and trying to be what your dad would want even though he thinks you’re too soft for it. why did he do it anyways! I also would love to see him and his mom being more involved, partially because obviously they had a horrible loss and trauma and she saw it happen but also because I love andrea:) she’s everything 2 me

judd I have been waiting for them to make you captain since SEASON THREE!! i want owen to retire and i want them to expand on the tension we got for the period he was captain!! i want to see how the dynamic changes and how his past issues come up when he’s in charge For Good. i want to see him get emotional about it and i want him to be captain while wyatt is his probie if they put him back on the firefighter track after his recovery :) bc that would be fun conflict and i think everything they did with owen (traumatically lost whole crew, son on your team) would be 100x better with judd

mateo is also a difficult one for specifics. I feel like they’re relatively fair with him? even with the low screentime all the secondary characters are relegated to. I’d be interested in seeing more fallout about his cousin, and I LOVED what they did with him and captain tatum so anything of that flavor of earnestness from him is always so good. maybe he and tatum will be buddies off the clock :)

tk getting hurt in increasingly absurd ways is always a classic that I look forward to them playing into lol

misc: i want to see more big brother wyatt with charlie getting a little older, i want less owen solo-plotlines, more ghost/memory gwyn i love her, carlos with his curls, the vega twins being involved in something maybe? that would be fun and stressful gjfhdhf

EDIT: OH MY GOD I FORGOT PAUL. I ABANDONED MY BOY. ok paul deserves literally any kind of robust plotline. Paul begins for starters, but also so much of his trans plotlines feel a little fumbled. I want a really earnest well done episode that isn’t necessarily About him being trans, but his transness is a factor and it’s handled in a really genuinely good and relatable way. they OWE HIM AND US THAT!! i also would love to see more of the gay kids being in gay spaces :)

anyway that's as far as i remember orz still have some hopes about the webtoon pulling through with some of these (although the webtoon removed a scene where yjh smirked after kdj complimented his cooking... bane of my existence to this day) but other than that you should be fine i think. tbh i've seen people be like "only og webnovel readers would ship them cuz there's not that much to go from in the webtoon" but that's definitely not MY case over here lol

-wingless. buried dragons wouldn't have/need/want wings, since wings would only be a disadvantage in tight spaces. -i didn't really include this, but i imagine they'd have longer claws. like if you look up mole paws? their claws are long and curved slightly. this is to help them dig!! -just to help tell them apart, the patches on them are meant to be dirt/mud from being underground -the leaf-tail is literally JUST for aesthetics tbh. that doesn't really have a practical use. -optional: the plants on their backs! that probably wouldn't actually happen (probably just moss/lichen, if anything) due to how much they'd brush against tunnel walls and things. but its neat to me. -also, the thing in the dragon's front claw is meant to be a coffin shape -mudwings from wof would be Buried dragons ^-^

^^ corruption

-bug/beetle wings!! mostly because i think it would be neat!! -holes/bugs all over. look, we all know jane prentiss ok. -not much to say abt this one actually. besides the bug wings its just. a dragon version of jane prentiss. -silkwings from wof would be corruption. just because Bugs.

^^ dark

-shadows :D they are like living shadows its very cool (this is the best thing i could come up with as a visual difference for the dark. i think its neat). -other than that, shaped like a normal dragon!! -leafwings from wof would be dark. LOOK i know you're thinking but MIST wouldn't leafwings be BURIED or CORRUPTION cause PLANTS? shouldn't NIGHTWINGS be DARK? and like. you're not wrong. but listen. dark is about what lurks unseen, about hiding, about the unknown. and what is the Whole leafwings arc in the first book (or two? its been awhile) of the third series about? its about the leafwings being hidden from the world. lurking in the shadows.

^^ desolation

-wings of fire, literally ;D -tail that ends in a flame -like. basically a phoenix in dragon form!! -i can't show the Colors with pencil, but i imagine that the darker shades in this image would be reds, fading into orange, fading into yellows. like fire!! -i just love this drawing actually. the gradient of the wings is so nice. yes i am just going to appreciate my own art. thats why i make things. its for Me. -skywings from wof would be Desolation dragons

-like with the dark, this is my attempt to come up with a visual difference for end dragons!! -living skeletons. living death!! -drawing end dragons is actually a good exercise in anatomy ^-^ -i think that they could Optionally have the ripped wings look. you know what i mean.

^^ eye

-in all honesty i just liked the idea of eye wings. like. LOOK AT THAT. behold, if you will ;) -eye on the chest because why not. it doesnt have to be there. mostly just Eyes where there should Not be Eyes. -and then the green Beholding eye for the actual eye. this is important to me and only me -appreciate the wings again.

^^ flesh

-the wings here are more rounded!! to give more of a fleshy feel. they're more... moulded. if you know what i mean. -mouths where mouths definitely Should Not Be. -other ideas i thought about were making the tail wider, adding extra joints to the toes, and just generally messing with anatomy a bit.

^^ hunt

-the pose in this one was important to me. this is a Predator, and it is stalking its prey. -specific focus on IT HAS TEETH. yes all dragons have teeth but hunt dragons have bigger teeth yk. -sorta fuzzy around the edges? meant to imply that there's fur there. -almost like a dragon crossed with a wolf. just generally wolflike/predatory. -and in the background, the Hunt symbol ^-^

^^ lonely

-another one where the pose was important. im very proud of it actually i like it a lot :D -nothing visibly different about lonely dragons actually. lonely avatars really don't have that many physical changes. -because of this i just went crazy with the fog/clouds -icewings from wof are lonely. i originally put them as slaughter but i think lonely suits them with their isolated little kingdom. also sandwings are slaughter.

-this was accidental but it's like. longer than the other dragons. which actually works quite well. -those wings need to be like 5x bigger but you see the ripped look i mentioned earlier -its a spiky thing. its purposefully a lot sharper than the other dragons; its snout is more pointed & it's got spikes down its spine -blood/gore/scars all over it. because slaughter. -sandwings from wof are slaughter because. well. spoiler alert. slaughter = war & sandwings are. very much at war for a very long time.

-obsessed with this thing actually. its like a chameleon-deer-dragon. i love it. -horns big and swirly/curved. -tail long and spiralling -thats. about it really. then u just gotta imagine it all colorful and distorted and u've got it. -rainwings from wof would be spiral. literally just cause Colors. they fit the vibe. funky dudes /pos

-okay this thing is freaky /pos -do you know the owl mosters from toh. cause this feels like them. i don't know if i accidentally drew inspiration from them or what but yeah. -an all-black, smooth-skinned dragon (the wings are just not shaded so u can actually see them) -hivewings from wof would be web because of the whole mind control thing.

-not really any major physical changes, but you've gotta put cobwebs on web avatars. they're really hard to see actually they just blend in with the scales but they're There. -i really wanted to do a sorta puppeted pose for the web. this made it like 100000x harder for myself but it actually doesn't look half bad. -nightwings from wof would be web. hear me out, they are absolutely the dragons that would try to manipulate people. have u read the books. also they have fancy mind powers, and darkstalker particularly is like DEFINITELY web.

SO WHATS THE DEAL HERE

idk what happened in the last two years but i’ve gone from being a prose hoe to a webcomic bitch and it has been working out great for me. comics are such a brilliant format for someone who’s equal parts artist and writer and recently all my important all-consuming story ideas have been webcomic ideas and im so excited to get to make them!!

there are two parts to this story, two parallel arcs, one for each sibling: sameera’s enemies to lovers story with kayal and anbu’s queerplatonic coming of age thing with tamizh. i think the main inspiration behind this was a) bridgerton season two which was the first time i actually ENJOYED an enemies-to-lovers romance and which made me go hmm yanno what. i’m going to do the same but without british people. b) me realising that as much as i love romance and writing romantic relationships i also would like to write a queerplatonic relationship please and thank you [it is endlessly amusing to me that my favourite genre is romance despite me being aromantic lmao] and i esp wanted to try writing a qpr from the pov of the non-aromantic character, just for that extra spice!

in the very short time ive had these four they’ve taken over my brain completely and i love it so much!! im currently working to on getting the basic prep work done [character turnarounds, uniform designs, bg models etc etc] and i’ll post updates on progress whenever i feel like lmao

im actually super excited for an emmet """"redemption"""" arc if thats where we are going. emmet understands how selfish he was and works to be better than that, promising himself that he will not only apologize to elesa, but recognize everything shes done for him while he was grieving/kinda losing it (because seriously, anyone that sticks with their friend like she did for him through that deserves an award and 10 years of therapy) when he gets back, and that hell try to do better than let his pain consume him like it did- even if ingo DOESNT end up coming back with him!! because even though grief is a horrible, painful thing, life has to go on, and i think if theres anything all these pmd adventures did, it was allow emmet to get back into experiencing that part of living where hes dedicated to helping the people around him, something im sure was difficult to pursue while he was on his downwards spiral (which wasnt helped by almosy nobody listening to him tbh). maybe emmet REALLY has to experience a path of solitude where he does some rescues on his own, so the two of them can both work on being apart while remaining functional, because that separation anxiety is very real and very bad for the both of them! im focusing on emmet with this because he never really healed(i guess you could say ingo never did either, since amnesia and the pearl clan kinda gave him the chance to be an individual all on his own. even if he felt lonely the entire time, he still managed better than emmet. not that doing that was very difficult.), and essentially got what he wanted (in a horrible, twisted way which hurt both of them) by letting his mental state go downhill, and he STILL hasnt gotten past his severe attachment issues and trauma(considering what he went through it is pretty difficult to blame him). so......id really love to see where you go with all that!! heres to hoping emmet and ingo come out of this as a stronger individuals.

anyway, meanwhile ingo gotta work on letting go of his need to always put others in front of himself (or himself in front of others, if we are being literal) to a self destructive level and recognizes he doesnt always have to be the one providing a service for others!! let everyone have ingos back always. big brother instinct be damned.

One of my biggest problems with dekus is his lack of will to hold everyone accountable and his pure belief in a system almost in a cult type of way even when he faced the ugly parts of it lemme explain hopefully

1) he calls out Endeavor early on due to his mistreatment of shouto -> time passes and he sees enji trying to be better and sees shouto reluctantly accept him so he is suddenly okay with him -> his eldest son who unlike shouto hasnt had opportunity to heal exposes all of his actions and how it affected him and he suddenly is on endeavors side despite being so hostile towards him prior his "atonement" started

2) meets nagant who is a direct result of the commission mistreatment and dirty work whi got locked up for defying their orders -> realizes that the heroes are not as innocent as it seems -> reaches for nagant but still fails to question hero society as a whole

3) aoyama is a traitor and his whole past is exposed -> sees AGAIN how the hero society he STILL so blindly believes in has caused for parents to go to the worst person possible so their child fits in -> instead of seeing how this is a problem with hero society he plainly just tells him he can still be a hero

Like i dont know if im explaining it well but he has always been incredibly bland to me simply because of his lack of any internal feelings where he is conflicted or questioning his morals or mostly what he believed in (same with hawks after the war all those characters just plain boring)

Shigaraki has been voicing it over and over again about how the society the heroes built end up actually creating broken people who become villains so when are we finally going to get some intersection from deku? Or is he blindly going to support the heroes always?

Okay, I know what you’re saying. Your complaints are shared by many, some by me as well. But I’ve talked at length about several of the things you’ve mentioned so instead of doing that again I’m gonna link to past posts.

About what Midoriya said to Dabi, I talked about here. That’s also a meta just about him in general and some of the critiques he gets from the fandom that I think are valid and some invalid. I would give that a read for those answers.

As for why the societal issues in BNHA aren’t being addressed through anybody, and I mean ANYBODY on the hero side, I literally just several minutes ago talked about that here.

For Aoyama, I mean…we just got to this part. “You can be a hero” was said for a reason. It wasn’t a sloppy substitution for a much needed epiphany. It’s a recurring statement in the story and needed to be said in this exact moment. So idk what the upset is.

Yeah I would really like for Midoriya to remember how lonely he felt and how he just, hated the way he was born. I would like to see him reflect, but we might not see it until later. He is more likely than not, going to end up quirkless in the end. So he will have to face this part of himself at some point. It might not be with Aoyama. It may be with Shigaraki. Who knows. But I think it will happen.

All this to say—nobody on the hero side has said shit about fixing the system. Idk that anything will be said until the end tbh. My MAIN issue with Midoriya is exactly what you pointed out about Endeavor. He displayed some guts during their first meeting, but then after the Endeavor arc it’s like it never happened. Yeah I do think it’s in response to Shouto showing some willingness to reconcile with his dad, but it’s also just inconsistent overall. It wasn’t my favorite thing to see. But honestly at this point who isn’t being shafted for Endeavor? First it was Midoriya, then it was Hawks, and now we’re still waiting for Shouto to get his arc back. I mean, it’s just annoying in general.

But look—if you don’t like Midoriya that’s fine? You don’t have to. You find him bland? Continue doing so, seriously. You don’t have to like him. I like him. He doesn’t have to be the best written character in the world for me to like him ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ . And not everything can be explained away. Sometimes shit is just inconsistent because the author couldn’t make up his mind, or he changed his mind or whatever. Sometimes it is what it is and we just have to deal with it. We can still complain though! But it’s not gonna change what we have.

heir to the nam family’s immense generational wealth and raised in nyc like a classic upper east side trust-fund kid (à la ‘succession’ & ‘gossip girl’). but ~global~. the nam family has roots and connections all over the globe, so he grows up traveling all over to become more ‘worldly’ and ‘cultured.’ plot twist, five-star hotels are nice in every country.

very much a leo (if ur into astrology!). really big personality, thrives under the spotlight, natural showman, and good looking to boot. that kid in school who somehow had an in with every social group, from the snobby elites to the scene kids to the nerds. just very, very good with people. could probably smooth talk a wall for hours if need be.

currently a part-time venture capitalist (b/c sprinkling money at people’s dreams and life endeavors = fun. only being partially sarcastic here) and part-time socialite (b/c flying around looking pretty and partying also = fun). tbh he’s very good at both things. 

so yeah, life is honestly pretty easy for eli. too bad he gets shipped off to the fucking middle of nowhere (ahem, daegu... which in his worldview might as well be nebraska) and is basically on probation / on the verge of being demoted as heir. and he is surrounded by his distant relatives (whom he finds insufferable) and is just drowning in cultural vertigo and having an existential crisis :)

woah woah woah, okay taking a step back on how he ends up there. tldr; he gets his gf pregnant, his parents freak the fuck out (which is an understatement... plus who are they to talk? having gotten married for purely power purposes), and there’s a very messy abortion + break-up with his gf and then his parents. psst, don’t ask if he truly loved her or wanted the baby. at this point it’s a convoluted mess b/t him actually being quite the lover-boy, being afraid of commitment, and also just hating being told what to do by anyone. like wtf???

anyways, he’s rotting away on the countryside when this pretty little invitation from choi yong comes bouncing along. he views it as a soft reset, the start of his redemption arc, a chance to prove his actual worth and capabilities (b/c everything in life is just handed to him on a golden platter, no?). oh, and a big ‘fuck you’ to his parents. so yeah, despite the charming smile and smooth manners, he’s not fucking around for once.

personality / traits

at the end of the day, he has a big heart. his warmth and sincerity attracts a lot of people and can draw all sorts of people out of their shells. he actually can feel drawn to those who are relatively more shy, reserved, or guarded than him too (possible plot dynamic?). he’s also very much ruled by his heart, ambitions, instincts, and what is ‘right’ (by his own standards... which are mostly good?).

as you might expect, he has a lot of friends. well ‘friends’ with asterisks attached. turns out once you get to a certain level of wealth, it’s hard to find actual friends who aren’t just hanging around b/c they want something from you. again, he’s very good with people and can pick up on even the subtlest shifts in another person’s mood or expression. all this makes him often overanalyze his relationships and actually quite lonely inside.

loves to be the center of attention, but is also secretly self-loathing. he wants to feel deserving and entitled to whatever praise and attention he gets; and like all people, he does have his own demons (which the world just trivializes). because to his critics’ point... umm he really did just waltz right into much of it. like talk about living life on easy mode... so a lot of his debonair charm serves dual purposes as a defense mechanism, carefully constructed to compensate for his innate insecurities. 

while he is very much a ‘good guy’ nine times out of ten, push him to the edge and he’ll default to anger and cutthroat tactics as a protective wall to hide his vulnerabilities. again, overall nice and outgoing but has scary flashes of being more cold-hearted and calculating, especially when provoked — the type that makes you questions whether if it’s even the same dude you’re dealing with. can’t run from the parents’ dna, i guess.

hates being bossed around. very much wants to be in charge of his own destiny, which is kinda at odds with what he’s born into. also hates being told what to do, but if you can get him to listen, he can actually usually be persuaded.

*comes barreling into ur ask box* okay but yuuji's growth just makes me sad??? like he's such a warm character in the first chapters but slowly but surely as the story progresses he grows more and more colder, like there's a weird sense of melancholy that just doesn't seem to go away every time i see him in a manga panel even in the first chapter because like, to me yuuji is such a lonely character? like he has friends yeah, but its the kind of friends that drifts apart just as easy as it came (i would know because i've been there, still am honestly, it's easy to form relationships but its hard to keep them from drifting and falling apart), at least that's what i feel anyways.

and now that feeling is now dialed up to an eleven when he said "i'm just a cog" and that he doesn't care about the fever hakari oh so raves about, because yuuji is still a child who grew up too fast and suffered so much that he's so, so tired now, can't he just rest? but he can't rest because resting means giving up and giving up means letting sukuna win and sukuna winning means more people dying and yuuji's already lost so so much—his only family, a friend, his partner-in-crime, and his mentee, and there's so much blood on his hands (two little girls who just want their father back, and most—if not all of shibuya itself) and while it is sukuna's fault there's no doubt that he blames himself just as much because he couldn't control bastard demon man who possesses his body whenever he's conked out.

RIGHT LIKE ITS AMAZING HOW GEGE DID THIS SHIT i could genuinely write out essays for any of the characters! even panda tbh, i have so much.. clouded thoughts in my head about how he obviously behaves like a human yet denies himself that humanity (that "even pandas cry" scene) and constantly refers to him as just a panda, mimicking how pandas behave, annoying everyone in the process

and yeah yuuji just. yuuji!! yuuji yuuji. i have so much thoughts about him that i need to sort out, but out of the shounen protagonist lot he is clearly of the less fortunate one - i mean, all the big major fights? he has never won them alone. not once! and, all the fights that he lost he barely got out alive. the fights he won alone are always with the small fries. like?? lets count. yuuji:

vs the curses in the first chapter - got out alive bc of megumi, gojou, even gd sukuna

vs the curse in roppongi - won with nobara

vs the curses in the detention center - he was alone and he lost and only got out alive bc of sukuna

vs mahito, 1st - junpei died right before his eyes, and he managed to fight off mahito only after nanami arrived

vs hanami - managed to fought off w/ toudou's help

vs the curse brothers - won with nobara

vs that old dude in shibuya - won with megumi

vs that grasshopper curse - won - the only (kind of) significant fight that he won alone

vs choso - alone, lost

vs mahito, 2nd - somewhat won, but with nobara and toudou weakening mahito first

vs okkotsu - alone, lost

vs hakari - alone, lost

like yeah, friendship is power, but in other shounen its typical for the protagonist to have a power up due to a friendship or whatever, and then they usually finish a big fight alone. not yuuji! yuuji always has someone there with him. its never him that gives the pep talk; its always someone else giving him the pep talk. yuuji more than anyone else needs people to be with him, reassuring him (eg. toudou in the 2nd mahito fight, megumi reassuring him that he could still help after the shibuya arc), helping him to talk things out (eg. nanamin after the 1st mahito fight, nobara after killing the curse brothers), takes the lead for him (eg. nanamin, megumi too, so many times.)

thats why its so heartbreaking when he decided to go off on his own. yuuji has never been the independent type, he needs people to need him, but other people's needs always come before his. so even if he needs people, if he's dangerous he won't stay near them anymore.

i suppose thats why yuuji seems so lonely. i dont think his friends would drift apart btw - yuuji himself distances from them - thats canon! jflaksjfjlfas. but i get what you mean, esp in the first chapter. he doesnt seem like he has built a significant group of friends in his first high school despite his sunshine personality - and then we learn that thats bc he immediately yeets himself to the hospital after class to take care of his dying grandpa, leaving no time to socialize with peers. at the time it seems normal, but that trait still stays so consistent after so many arcs: to yuuji, other people's needs always come before his own.

Hi :-) I read your tags to my post <3 I think (dread) what will happen is this: Teh will get everything he ever wanted: the brilliant career as an actor AND he will get Jai, the boyfriend who wants the same things Teh wants and who understands him in a way Oh-aew doesnt (barf). The show has spent most time this season on building up Tehjai and I think they believe this is the new grand love story we're supposed to root for (thus the longing looks between them). We'll get a final conversation between Teh and Oh-aew after the next time jump where Oh says that Teh really is better off with Jai and should totally fight for him. Oh-aew himself will get an office job which is the final image we'll see of him. No love story for him obviously. I honestly don't see any other way this season could end...

I had more to say in the tags of that post but i reached the tag limit 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♀️🚶‍♀️. Anyway i keep remembering what oab said about his role that "Jai is a character that is there to test ohaew and teh's love for each other" so idk i dont see a tehjai endgame cause of that. But tbh yeah they really spent more time developing tehjai than they spent it on showing teh's and ohaew's relationship. But idk i dont see jai choosing teh cause jai has high ambitions and he doesnt want to be tied down with someone (hence why he left james in the first place and omg bitch even had the audacity to mourn why james didnt come to his play). So in ep5 unless Teh is hugely successful or smth i dont see Jai choosing him, but if Teh really is HUGELY successful you bet Jai will be the first person who'll come running lol. And i dont think Teh will be HUGELY successful so i dont see a tehjai endgame + oab's words. So my prediction for ep5 is that there will be a timejump of one year (as much as i want it to be 10 years, they said it was a story spanning 4-5 years? So yeah 😩). Ohaew, my son, the loml, my sunshine, is doing amazing in life and got a nice job and is living his dreams 🥺💞💞 when one day he has to work on this project with Teh. And like Oh Aew might be the one whose trying to be professional and out some distance and Teh is just like bestie its been a while i miss you lets grab a bite and my son agrees. So in the talk Teh is like i have grown™ and have changed™ and im sorry™ for everything (itsay ep1 ending 😚) and ohaew might be like i m okay with being friends again but idk if i can be more than that (itsay ep1 ending again 😚) and then they might leave it at that AN OPEN ENDING that's what im saying lol. And they might show us a few of their moments later like yeah besties something will happen between them later lol. Idk to me that's the only route this could take cause ik this is nadao but i really dont think (after my ambulance) they'll completely disband (lol) tehohaew. But the real thing I'm worried about is that they'll not give Teh the redemption arc cause if ep4 was supposed to make me feel 1% for him im sorry it didnt work. I dont buy that he is remorseful even when he went to Q's to apologise to oh. He did it cause he has no one now and like i said earlier, if jai reciprocated his feelings, ohaew would've been a passing thought. The line "i never thought you’d break up with me" was so fucking stupid like yeah I'll go and kiss other people behind your back but i wont break up with you 🥰🥰. And imo they tried to victimize teh by showing how lonely and miserable he was (also there's this clip linetv released where teh had a convo with his mom and he was like mai i got the role but im sad). So yeah teh's redemption arc might not even happen they'll just throw it under the rug with a time jump. If they did the breakup earlier in the ep then they could have showed us more of teh's suffering (🥰) and make him realize his guilt but yeah ig tehjai longing scenes are more important 🥰🥰
