Not for nothing, but this scene makes me cry every single time I see it. That is Dean, widowed a-fucking-gain, finding someplace to put his bootless love. Like, why did they make me watch this? Why did they break my fucking heart like this?

no but the thing is. they KISSED. on screen. it was a real scene, not deleted, not removed from a script, it HAPPENED in front of the world's eyes. and AND the actors are normal about it and the whole cast and crew is normal about it and it's not vague and it's IMPORTANT. no matter the rest of it and what came after it, it happened!!

Spn revival (re this post): Dean doesn’t ever acknowledge Cas’s feelings but he does pointedly drink out of straws in front of him. Hoping that Cas will pick up the hint (he doesn’t). Dean sulks the entire time, but grows more and more physically affectionate with Cas, assuming he thinks they’re just no homo bro touches because he hasn’t said anything. This devastates him but he continues to let it happen. The season culminates in Dean and Cas standing under an umbrella together in the rain, drinking from the same glass of sweet tea together, each using their own straw. They’re standing outside of their newly purchased home. Their boots and shoulders touch. They never kiss

AU where destiel gets confirmed like, 3 seasons before the finale because Cas unknowingly hooks up with a siren, revealing his love for Dean. But then the siren uses that to make him attack Sam and Dean.

Sam’s trying to pull him out of the situation, “Dean! DEAN!!! We need to get out of here!!!! DEAN!!!!!!” But Dean is just standing there, unmoving. Every moment spent, every word exchanged, everything. Everything came raining down, crushing him underneath. Cas is pointing his blade against him and he cannot move a single muscle.

I was just think that, what if, in maybe season 5, Cas picked up on how a man's wife or girlfriend kiss them goodbye as a send off to a war usually. And maybe Cas decided to kiss Dean goodbye one time and, Dean made a joke about it and maybe said A pat on the back would've done fine, and that's all that comes of it because kripke thought it would be funny.

Then, maybe, skip ahead to season 12 or 13 and it still had never been brought up because it was just a joke, a bit. And maybe Dean and Cas are alone in the bunker kitchen, sharing a beer and Dean says, I'm thinking about 2010. And Cas says Why and Dean says Remember that time you kissed me goodbye? and Cas says Yes that was very embarrassing for me, and Cas thinks of leaving because he's not ready for this, he'll never be ready for this he thinks. And theres a bit of silence before Dean says I think about that a lot. And Dean is not looking at Cas, he's just staring at the counter, and Cas doesn't say anything. They finish their beers and Cas says Me too. Dean goes to bed and Cas goes for a drive and maybe he cries a little and maybe Dean does too because they know they won't bring it up again, at least, not for a long time.
