My Chemical Romance fan Percy headcanons because i finally got around to writing them down
He's a millenial and canonically punk so obviously he was an Mcr kid and is now an Mcr adult
He actually got into it BEFORE The Black Parade dropped so he finds the jokes about listening to Mcr using exclusively Welcome To The Black Parade to be hella annoying
His favorite album is a tie between Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge and Danger Days, the former of which he refuses to let go of as his fave out of nostalgia
And his favorite songs are Drowning Lessons,Helena,Thank you for the Venom,Give 'em hell kid,Mama,Not that kind of Girl,Summertime,Bulletproof Heart,Party Poison and The Kids from Yesterday
Gerard is his idol because of Gerard being openly genderqueer/nonbinary with he/him pronouns in the early mid-2000s and Percy turning out to be transfem bigender and using he/she/they/neos.How goofy and edgy and cunty he is only helped her stan him even more(also for clarification,i say 'openly' as in presentation, not out of the closet!)
Both buys official merch and diy's personalized editions
Used to watch Mcr song Amv's religiously
Sally is Killjoy-adjacent out of knowing so many songs because Percy listened/listens to them so much and the fun facts she also knows because Percy of dropping them
She got Nico into it contrary to popular assumption that it was the reverse and Nico actually got her into Animal Crossing. It happened inbetween the year from Botl and Tlo as they spent it reconnecting and Helena is 'their' song in the most platonic sense possible /srs-it symbolizes Nico realizing he deserves better than Hades' abuse and deciding to stay with Percy as his new sister and Sally as his soon to be official adoptive mom
They passed their love for it onto Hazel and she has it as a special interest and is even more enthutiastic about it than Percy is.In Son,she once lulled her to sleep with 'Thank you for the Venom' and Hazel sleepmuttered about how she saw her as a sister too and it startled Percy because her egg hadn't cracked yet
Selfshipper moment incoming again like my autistic hcs post again,SORRY,Percy and Lex went on a quest for Hecate in their senior year of Goode High and she repayed them with Mcr concert tickets so they went to it as a date and had the time of their lives and went to Dairy Queen afterwards for post-concert refills(read:food).Lex 'owns' a Demolition Lovers t-shirt that's actually Percy's but they steal it all the time in the classic girlfriend move
Makes Mcr themed food like Killjoy symbol blue marshmallow cupcakes and a strawberry/blackberry juice and vanilla extract combo drink she dubbed 'Three Cheers For Sweet Juice'
Huuuge fan of The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys comics and relates to Mike Milligram on a spiritual level and has him as his icon on a blue background in his group chat app

Transcript for Marina Toybina on the Designing Hollywood podcast
I've seen a couple people searching for a transcript of her discussing Gerard Way's stage costumes, so I have made one! Feel free to share/link as a resource. Popular quotes are bolded.
Link to source video. MCR's section starts around 22 minutes in.
The transcript is beneath the cut.
Interviewer: Well now you’ve just finished working with My Chemical Romance, which is a band that I dig. Gerard Way is also a comic book writer and artist, created the Umbrella Academy. So, first of all, how did you get that job? Because there’s a design, I mean the look of that band and what they like to do, what they’re influenced by, they’re not just your typical rock band. So what was it like? How did you get that job? You designed the whole tour right?
Marina: I Collaborated with the lead singer, yes, with Gerard. Uhm, okay everything kinda has it’s place in time. About 15 years ago, 15 to 20 years ago, I was a huge fan. I’m a rock girl at heart, and back then a lot of their music was like music to my soul. It got me through some of the harder times. A lot of my friends were musicians. I never saw them live, never could afford to get to their shows, but knew one day in my heart there probably will be an opportunity, they were in like my top 5 favorite bands. He was an artist I’ve always wanted to work with. This past summer, while I was designing So You Think You Can Dance, I just happened to turn on their music - nope- let me rewind I'm so sorry. So a year ago I was reading a release that they're coming back together on tour and they're playing LA on my birthday. I looked at my team and I was like "I'm gonna be at that show. We're gonna go to the show, we're all gonna go together." And I just jokingly said “I'll probably dress them!” A lot of things in my career have happened to manifestation, I'm a huge believer in that. I think my intentions were so clear into the universe. I believed in it so much. That happened a year ago. Then this past summer, I was driving to work, I was listening to their music and I just happened to text my agent. I'm like “You know I really want to get back into music. It's what I used to do. I used to do a lot of live performances. I used to do a lot of music videos. I need to feel that again, even though I'm surrounded with music all the time and I'm doing all these shows. But there was a disconnect in my career, to where it's like I love live entertainment.” And she’s like “Who do you want? Like are we going after pop stars?” And I'm like “No I've done all that. I want to go back to my roots. I want like Incubus or My Chemical Romance or Red Hot Chili Peppers. Get me back to rock and roll.” And she was like “Well, you know, they're touring, but it's probably… I don’t know, let's put it out there.” Then within two weeks I get an email from her like “Hey their managers want to meet with you, he wants to meet with you.” One of the biggest things about their aesthetic is one of my probably top three costume designers, Colleen Atwood, did their black parade album and it was so incredible. Back then, I was always a step behind. It's like they did The Black Parade and then I met the photographer later. Then I worked on a project with him. So it was always like some better-late-than-never I guess. And I'm like “I'm gonna work with her someday, I love her work. I've been told by many people we're a lot alike.” You know? And I'm like “Why not?” And so we get this email “He would like to take a meeting, see what we can do.” I never expected to do a tour, I just wanted to open this door of opportunity, to just collaborate, maybe do one thing together. And he just showed up in my studio and it was just an amazing artistic energy.
Interviewer: Were you starstruck?
Marina: I was trying to hold it together. I mean before they came in, I can't tell you how much I paced. Usually, there's like 15 - 20 people at my studio. This was the time and day that I was alone. I didn't know what to do. Of course, my expectations were just to present myself and see if I would be a good asset to them because I love their music and I love what he's about. Also, it’s not just the frontman for me, I think he's a brilliant artist. So there's a lot of things. I just wanted our worlds to merge somehow. Within the first five minutes of our conversation, I'm like “Oh I get his brain.” I told them my story. I told him that this is like 20 years in the making. You know, I probably sound like a crazy-fan costume designer. But we share ideas, he walked me through the concepts of things he wants to do on this particular tour and they haven't started doing the US leg of the tour. I didn't know if they had a designer. Then he did mention Colleen was doing something for him and I was like “Okay, how - can this be a triangle? You know? Can I come in in the picture?” It was just a beautiful collaboration. It was a genuine artist to artist conversation. Like “Let's do something interesting.” He walked me through his concepts, his ideas and I'm like “Alright well, let me come up with some creatives, see if we're on the same page.” Again, as much as I wanted to be like “Hey we're doing this tomorrow!” I also felt like it's important now in my career and possibly in his, to make sure the relationship is good, that this is the right artistic match to one another and… it worked! From there it was just amazing fittings, amazing collaboration and some iconic things that went viral!
Interviewer: I love hearing this from you because this is like the joyous experience of 'oh my god I dreamt of working with somebody and you finally get to do it'. But I want to take you back to that because I'm curious. How would that process even begin? You're working with somebody that you already know their music, you already know his vibe. And Colleen Atwood, who I've interviewed by the way, on the show, she's incredible. Our interview had to - she was in the middle of a work day, so it was only it was a short interview. But how does a collaboration like that work with somebody like Gerard Way? How do you guys start working together? How is that process?
Marina: For us, it was just like an initial conversation. I introduced myself, my work. They already did some background checking up to see where I stand, what my aesthetic was like. And I felt I was in a place in my life, in my career, where I was able to bring something new. That's where my confidence I think came from. At the same time I didn't want to change the artist that's in front of me. I think that's always so important for me when working with music. You're dealing with a fan base, and a reputation, an aesthetic approach that's far beyond any artistic reach of anybody new coming in. So for me it was having a conversation, understanding what characters he wanted to bring forward. This was a very playful tour. This wasn't about dressing up the whole band. This was about him being in this world of iconic characters. And how can we bring this to life? What can we do that's still very recognizable to his fans but at the same time a little bit of a shock value? But at the same time, I wanted him to be him, you know? He was in this beautiful place in his life and career where he felt great and felt confident and I just wanted to uplift that. We did our creative decks, went through the conversations of which characters we wanted to go with, these are the shows that he had. I knew which city, we kind of wanted to play off where was the right time. Halloween was right around the corner, what do we do? So it was like very strategic conversations but at the same time so much room to play and be creative. So I just gathered the top 10 characters that we had discussed and kind of started doing my own thing, and keeping him and the music in mind. Had an amazing fitting. I've never worked with an artist that's so clear. It was not just directional and very precise and very distinct on his own style, but it was clear for me when we were doing fittings, this is somebody that knows his body. This is somebody who knows his aesthetic on stage. This is somebody that knows how they're going to perform. So it just made it so much easier for me to be able to fall into his world and do the fittings like “Is this going to come off? Is this piece staying on? Are we going to do options? Is the character going to evolve on stage? Is the character going to come down on stage?” So all those conversations happen in our fittings and then I just packed it all up, with distinct notes, send them off, and then kept checking in, making sure everything was okay.
Interviewer: So when you had a direction for the characters, were you doing sketches first?
Marina: No, not at all. This was something that I felt like needed to have the research. It wasn't just about designing something on paper. When he mentioned to me “I wanted to be a vintage cheerleader” I'm like “Okay, what era are we in? 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 40’s?” and then he was like “Find me something that's within possibly this color scheme.” The image that went viral when he did wear the cheer uniform, it was probably like 10 different vintage stores that we went to. And I'm like “Okay everything's size zero.” or like “What am I gonna do? This stuff doesn't exist anymore. If I get it from Etsy it's not going to come in time.” There's like so much and it happened to be as we were leaving one of the stores I looked on a sale rack and I saw this damaged, weird, vintage cheer dress that had no zipper, that had no hem. And I was like “I love this! I love this because I can reconstruct it. I can go and get the fabrics that we need to still keep it original and authentic. And that's how we start working. I build out a mannequin his size at my studio, put it on, we reshaped it, took the whole thing apart, reconstructed it to be his measurements, and still kept it authentic. After he wore it, the pattern for the actual thing was sold out. Fans loved it so much that we were getting notifications that people actually found the original pattern of this 1940s uniform and were buying it out.
Interviewer: That's crazy, okay!
Marina: Oh it's amazing! I think, to me, that's when things are just meant to be. When not only did my work translate into something beautiful on stage, but then he becomes this incredible persona on stage that then delivers the character and plays it off. We did that throughout every single look. Every single look when it became a fan favorite or craze.
Interviewer: In terms of time, what was the process when you first got the gig and then to the first show that was performing using your work? What was the time frame?
Marina: I think I had about a month to get it all together.
Interviewer: Wow! That’s not much!
Marina: Yeh and at the same time, I had another huge project in the works so it was going back and forth. But I could not tell you, I've had difficult projects in the past, I've had difficult times with artists, or finding our own language, or how to execute some things. This was so easy that time didn't matter to me. It was such a great collaboration, it flowed, like Bruce Lee would say, like water. It just made sense and no matter how difficult my other project was or what was going on at the same time, it was like oh this is the universe showing me this is how it's supposed to be. This is what's inspiring me. And at the end of the day, the one thing I told Gerard was “You made me fall in love with music again. You came into my life as an artist that I've admired and wanted to work with for almost 20 years. There was a big part of my beginning that made me look back at this now and be like “Oh that's what. That was that feeling that I had when I was 16 or 20.”

Newest instalment of Stepdad Joel was chefs kiss. But everyone already knew that! I’m in love with how he just can’t help himself. My man is insatiable. Toxic, would you be so kind as to bless us plebs with a lil Stepdad Joel behind the scenes lore? I have personally always wondered what the first time dear reader and he met was like? First impressions maybe?
Much love 🫶💗🐝
Thank you so much! 💗🫶💗 You are apparently the toxic lore whisperer. When you ask for lore, I crack my fingers. . .
700 words?? CW provocative album art. TW mommy issues but not much detail
stepdad master
-----
LORE: first meeting stepdad!Joel
His first impressions: Moody but harmless teenager.
Yours: Old but harmless nerd, trying too hard.
The first time you met, your mom was acting like they weren't dating, he was just, her friend Joel. You were late to lunch and she criticized your parking job.
"Are you gonna introduce me to all your 'friends' now?" You asked with air quotes right in front of Joel outside the cafe.
Your mom apologized for you. Joel smiled and looked down at the ground and when his eyes found your vintage sneakers he said, "hey, fresh kicks." You cringed at him trying to sound cool but it was also disarming how lame he was making himself.  He was old (ish, but not as old as your mom), he was a nerd, he was a fool for liking your mom so much, and he did genuinely like her. Even before getting to know him, you felt a little bad for him because it would only be a matter of time until she couldn't keep up her fake niceness.
Gradually you got to be buddies with him. One of the first times you spent time with him was at a food truck thing the three of you went to, and your Mom went off to "say hi" to a neighbor for thirty minutes. The two of you were sitting at the picnic table making small talk.  Joel was wearing an MCR shirt. He was surprised you knew who they were.  He liked a variety of cool bands, liked cool movies. He felt bad when your mom was hard on you and he stuck up for you. You kind of stuck up for each other. You almost tried to vaguely warn him when they started talking about marriage which seemed really fast, like within six months.
-----
One day, after they were married, you and your mom had a huge blow-up and Joel came to your room bc at her request, he told her he'd try to talk to you for her. But he didn't. He just sat on the floor and looked around trying not to bother you. You kept your earbuds in and ignored him.
He found your Rolling Stones Sticky Fingers vinyl and picked it up. He turned it over to read. He said "nice, where's your record player?"  You didn't have one at that point. That was your dad's, and you used to use his player. You hung onto that album but not for the music.
You finally took out your earbuds, feeling bad for him talking to himself.
Joel said, "my favorite Stones album is Some Girls."
"That's such a cliche," you grumbled without really looking at him, but the fact that you even said anything was a compliment.
He asked, "Yeah, what's yours?"
You paused, then sheepishly admitted, "Some girls," and you both laughed.
------
You didn't live with them for long before you left for college, which was shortly after you caught him jacking off in the office that time, which neither of you ever acknowledged.
In college you started partying and dressing provocatively.  He followed you on Instagram your junior or senior year. At one point he accidentally liked then unliked a pic that was mostly cleavage. It made your heart skip a beat, and not in a creeped out way. But you didn't think much of it at the time, you had too much else going on in the boy world already.
You never lived at home again after leaving for college, but when you occasionally came home to visit, there started to be a different tension. It was like he was trying not to look at you. It wasn't that creepy -- You were both human and he wasn't "stepdad" long enough to ever feel like a father figure.  But there was tension, and occasionally you bickered over dumb stuff.
----
After graduation, you got a job and moved across town. Over time, there were a couple of guys you dated long enough to introduce them to Joel at family events.  He was polite but quiet with the first one.  The last one, you seemed to really like, and Joel was kind of cold with him. After you and that guy broke up, you started getting the urge to see Joel more often, which ultimately led to the time you went by when your Mom wasn't home and knowingly caught him jacking off.
Joel never would have made a move on you, so thank god for your advances. Even after following your instagram, he tried (and failed) not to look at you.

The ghouls music taste - HC
I think Ozzy Osbourne, Kiss, Lana Del Rey and David Bowie is pack favorites, like that’s what they’re gonna play on full volume in the car
Rain
Rain is definitely an alternative rock girlie, he loves Muse and you can’t change my mind on that. His favorite Muse song is definitely micro cuts or spiral static. He just loves all their guitar sounding vocals, those old emo vibes songs and basically everything about them. His favorite album is probably Origin of symmetry and Showbiz. And he likes MCR and Suizid, cus like, he’s emo
Dew
He’s a Mike’s dead fan by heart, he knows every single word of every single song, like hell blast Bite down on full volume and scream the lyrics, it just makes him feel better. And he’s Aether’s Rob zombie friend (every Alice cooper fan needs a rob zombie fan and the other way around) And he’s a sabaton fan cus he’s a little nerdy about history.
Swiss
Swiss’s motto is: “the older, the better” and: “anything after 1999 sucks” He likes the old country rock like, Eagles. He also likes Santana, like c’mon, Santana is a guitar genius. There’s always some chill music coming from his room. Oh, and he listens to Paleface Swiss unironically (even though they are a new band)
Mountain
He’s a bit like Swiss but he’s not against new music (most of the time) but the song James Dean by Eagles always hits hard. He listens to the strokes and thin lizzy in the green house, but if he’s not with his plants he likes to listen to techno metal, or any type if metal, really, his favorite song is Undead by Hypnosaur.
Aether
Dad music. Alice Cooper, Iron Maiden, and his alltime favorite Meatloaf. He vibes with almost everything tho, hell vibe with Rains high pitched emo screaming, Dews angsty rap/rock but especially Rob zombie, Swiss’s old country rock, Mountains techno metal and chill oldies, and on like so. He doesn’t listen to music that much but if the others are playing music he won’t ask them to turn it down, he’ll vibe with them
Phantom
Phantom’s favorite song will always be Bat out of hell by Meatloaf. He also likes Muse, but not like Rain, he likes their new stuff better like Simulation theory and the 2:nd law, he’s emo but not that emo. He definitely likes Nickleback, Yungblud, Bring me the horizon and Bad religion. His favorite songs are Anesthesia by Bad religion and Fire escape by Call me karizma. He has a kinda love/hate relationship with Map of the problematique by Muse because he listened to it religiously when he was summoned and now he can’t help but cry when he hears it.
Cumulus
Elton John, Dire states and Greta van fleet. She loves crocodile rock by Elton John and it always makes her laugh when she watches him perform it on The muppet show. But like Aether she’ll vibe with pretty much anything
Cirrus
Cirrus likes the vibe of kinda dark doom metal/rock. She loves bands like The ocean and Soen and their song Hollowed. She’s a sabaton fan because they are super cool too and she’ll occasionally enjoy some good old Rammstein or The cure
Aurora
She likes a lot of different music, and if you put her playlist on shuffle, someone will end up with a whiplash injury. She’s a Louis Tomlinson fan, her favorite song is Angels fly and she loves five finger death punch. She’s Phantom’s Machine Gun Kelly friend (every Yungblud fan needs to have a MGK friend) chances are high that you’ll find her with Phantom jaming out to bodybag or acting like that by MGK and Yungblud
Copia
He is definitely a måneskin fan and his rats are named after them. I think he likes old bands like whitesnake and Lynyrd Skynyrd but his altime favorite song will forever be Brother Louie by Modern talking

⚰︎
This is the end.. So.. Bye? I don't know.. Want the lyrics to the foundations of decay? There, it's down there ↓
See the man who stands upon the hill
He dreams of all the battles won
But fate had left its scars upon his face
With all the damage they had done
And so tired with age, he turns the page
Let the flesh submit itself to gravity
Let our bodies lay, mark our hearts with shame
Let our blood in vain, you find God in pain
Now, if your convictions were a passing phase
May your ashes feed the river in the morning rays
And as the vermin crawls, we lay in the foundations of decay
He was there the day the towers fell
And so he wandered down the road
And we would all build towers of our own
Only to watch the roots corrode
But it's much too late, you're in the race
So we'll press and press 'til you can't take it anymore
Let our bodies lay, mark our hearts with shame
Let our blood in vain, you find God in pain
And if, by his own hand, his spirit flies
Take his body as a relic to be canonized
Now, and so he gets to die a saint
But she will always be a whore
Against faith (cage all the animals)
Against all odds ('cause the message must be pure)
Against change (you can wander through the ruins)
We are free (but the poison is the cure)
You must fix your heart
And you must build an altar where it swells
When the storm, it gains and the sky, it rains
Let it flood, let it flood, let it wash away
And as you stumble through your last crusade
Will you welcome your extinction in the morning rays?
And as the swarm it calls, we lay in the foundations
Yes, it comforts me much more
Yes, it comforts me much more
To lay in the foundations of decay
Get up, coward
Now, so long and goodnight...
(I'll probably be adding more once I remember more shit, but for now Run, run, bunny, run)
(𝘈𝘴𝘬 𝘪𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘮𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘮𝘺 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘧𝘧...)

✨🩷when you get this, list five songs you like to listen too, then send it to ten of your favorite followers (positivity is cool)🩷✨
ima do this with songs from my favorite albums recently cause why not 🤷🏾‍♀️
1. L’amour de ma vie by Billie Ellish
this entire album was just like a harm hug for me especially this song since i feel like it kind resonated with what i was going through (recent break up for anyone curious)
2. B.A.S by Megan Thee Stallion
honestly this song was just me trying to tap into my “idgaf” mindset cause i feel like i care too much for mfs that don’t seem to care about me so 🤷🏾‍♀️
3. Helena by My Chemical Romance
this is actually a recent one but i realized that i fuck with mcr so hard so this only makes sense to add this one to the list
4. Red Wine Supernova by Chappell Roan
her singing plus the guitar is just 🙏🏾 literally the entire album saved my life and i can’t wait for her to make a new one cause ik she’s gonna slay
5. Going by H.E.R
this song resonates so much cause it feels like my mind is focused on getting shit done rather than trying to focus on things that i can worry about later and mentally i just haven’t been doing things that i enjoy and rather trying to do things that will benefit me in the future
honorable mentions cause i can never just choose 5 songs:
1. After Midnight by Chappell Roan
2. Against me by H.E.R
3. Say by Keshi
4. Wildflower by Billie Ellish
(i’ve seen way too many sad edits to this song my heart hurts)
I MISSED TWO SONGS WAIT LMFAOO
1. Espresso by Sabrina Carpenter
(trying to tap into my inner sabrina guys)
2. Please please please by Sabrina Carpenter
(i’ve been told this song reminds me of me and my s/o in my dr so i’ve been obsessed ever since)
its not letting me add the audio for this song so yall might have to just look it up or smth 💀💀
okay that’s all (no it’s not)
@lovebvni @cocozydiaries @jealousmartini @theshifterbride @shifting-to-ur-mom @themanirealityshifter @ravenscosmos (there’s probably more but i have no idea)

i have a lot :3
🍓🌵🥑🥤🌻🧃🧸🪐🍬🦷❄️🌿🏜️🍦🌸🎨🧩
you dont have to answer all of them but here you gooo
oh hell yes this is gonna be so fun <3
🍓 ⇢ how did you get into writing fanfiction?
i don't remember specifically how, but i know i first interacted with shipping on youtube in like 2007-08 back when you could comment on people's profiles and message other users, so i think i must have commented on some like.. pokeshipping amv and just struck up a convo before i followed some friends i made to ff.net and deviantart, and started writing on ff.net lol
🌵 ⇢ share the link to a playlist you love
so i don't use spotify, i'm an apple music girlie and i really only listen to my own playlist i made that is composed of all of my top 100 songs of the year going back to 2015 LMAO
🥑 ⇢ you accidentally killed somebody, which mutual(s) do you text for help?
@actuallyalaska she got me
🥤 ⇢ recommend an author or fanfic you love
every writer i tagged yesterday!! all of whom take part of the @bandomthememonths go read all these great fics by these awesome writers<333
🌻 ⇢ tag someone you appreciate but don't talk to on a regular basis
@judasisgayriot your gifs are a godsend and i always love getting a comment from them <3
🧃 ⇢ share some personal lore you never posted about before
my name is short for guinevere lol
🧸 ⇢ what's the fastest way to become your mutual?
so i'm sort of picky abt my dash lol i try to stick to foblr so if you post mostly fob then i'll prob follow! i do a good scroll through to get the vibe, but if they post a lot of non fob stuff, i usually skip bc its just not for me but no hard feelings ever<3
🪐 ⇢ name three good things going on in your life right now
well i just bought a new (refurbished) computer for the first time in a few years, so that's exciting! i've recently started making embroidery patches and that's been a lot of fun lol idk i've just been having a good time<3 i'm doing a lot of home renovation projects so i'm excited to have a brand new kitchen soon lmao
🍬 ⇢ post an unpopular opinion about a popular fandom character
not a fandom character but as far as bandom goes, i don't really care for mcr and maybe that just has everything to do with that i'm really not familiar with lore/band mbrs etc., but danger days is the only mcr album i really connected with especially when i was 16-17 and its still one of my favorite albums, but i'm good on their other albums lol
🦷 ⇢ share some personal wisdom or a life hack you swear on
just be kind<3 ik that's super cheesy but i think its easy to forget that other ppl have feelings too and maybe just being nice to someone will make their day. also don't ever pay full price for anything if you can avoid it. generic brands are just as good as name brands
❄️ ⇢ what's your dream theme/plot for a fic, and who would write it best?
i have.. no idea honestly lmao
🌿 ⇢ give some advice on writer's block and low creativity
listen when i figure it out, i'll let you know lol when i'm stuck i eat an edible and stare at the wall until something comes to me
🏜️ ⇢ what's your favourite type of comment to receive on your work?
ANY AND ALL!!!! especially when they tell me a specific part they liked - even if its just a line makes my heart go bu-bump<3
🍦 ⇢ name three good things about a character you hate
genuinely i can't think of a character i hate, i really don't watch anything but like. seinfeld and its always sunny in philadelphia lmfao
🌸 ⇢ do you have any pets? if you do, post some pictures of them
this is my cat bear<3 she's ten years old and sleeps in a drawer in my desk while i work
Tumblr media
🎨 ⇢ link your favourite piece of fanart and explain why you like it
here and here and here and this nsfw fanart from my bubbline au these are all my absolute favorites <3
🧩 ⇢ what will make you click away from a fanfiction immediately?
i answered this here but its super long so<3

Hello I hope you enjoy some ray questions :) what is your favorite ray solo, the most beautiful to you, and the one that in your opinion is his most technically and musically impressive. love and light and ray toro to u
oh my godddd i DO enjoy ray questions thank you thank you <33333
okay so honestly this tour has blown everything out of the water so if we're including the recent live stuff then. kids from yesterday is his most beautiful AND technically impressive. the thing about fast shreddy solos is that sure they're very difficult to play but they're also forgiving. skip a note? under/overdo a bend? hit a couple of wrong frets? no big deal, it'll barely be noticeable as long as you're able to recover quick. slow solos that focus more on emotion and musicality are often so much more difficult because every single note matters and the mood depends on you not only hitting every one but hitting it well, bending in tune, sustaining it, really putting feeling into it etc. like for example the summertime solo is super simple and easy to play, but ray pours his heart into it every night so it sounds beautiful, and if he hits just one note wrong it's obvious as hell lol. anyway ray's a master at both of those types of soloing (which is insane, and as much as everyone knows he's an incredible player i feel like his emotionality as a musician doesn't get enough recognition compared to his technical prowess and ability to shred). and kids from yesterday this tour like. combines both of those things at once. it's jawdropping every single night - and the fact that it's, like, semi-improvised some nights too. genuinely astounding like all else aside mcr getting back together is the greatest gift in the world just because we get to witness that. it's like the perfect showcase of how ray's grown as a musician over the hiatus because even though remember the laughter is relatively light on guitar, you can really hear how those solos and exploring that style influenced this new kids one...but it's still so my chemical romance, because ray's never played to show off or posture, he knows exactly what every single song needs to be as emotionally resonant as possible.
anyway. lol spiel on kids from yesterday over (genuinely the way it ROCKETED up my ranking of mcr songs from close to the bottom to close to the top after this tour....lol). if we're talking studio versions only......
favourite solo: this is genuinely such a fucking hard question so i'm going to have to go with my gut response. which is venom. it's probably not my favourite solo anymore, but it was originally - it was one of the things that really hooked me on mcr in the first place, and when my show got cancelled in 2020 i couldn't listen to it for like two solid months bc it was the one i most vividly daydreamed about seeing live LOL so i have a huge soft spot for it. and it's catchy. it's clean. it's classic. it's just fucking FUN like it catches my attention and gets a smile out of me every time lol. close runners-up are vampire money, flw, and the live version of destroya.
most beautiful: augh. fuck. fuck. easy answer is summertime and as much as i agree i think i have to say scarecrow....again, it's nothing overstated. the way it like. weaves around and reinforces the vocals on "love won't stop this bomb" too like...it has brought many a tear to my eye. jesus. side note frank's parts in both of these songs are fucking heart-wrenchingly gorgeous too. for an album that sounds less like a ~guitar album~ than all of mcr's others, danger days has some of the best guitar work of their whole discography man...
most technically/musically impressive: genuinely this one is impossible to answer...like i could make an argument for sooo many of them in different ways...but i think i'm going to have to say. i don't love you. she is criminally underrated and so deceptively simple-sounding but so technically complex AND so fucking emotive. like okay another thing ray should probably get more credit for is not only that he's able to play all these solos flawlessly and beautifully but that he's able to write them - it's truly like he speaks another language, every solo he's ever written is so perfect for the song right key, right chord progression, right scale, right energy. and he's comfortable playing in so many different styles too....his blues-ed up teenagers live playing my fucking BELOVED, his practically baroque metally to the end solo, classic rock or polka or fucking borderline-edm...we are so lucky to have him oh my god.
also if we're counting non-mcr solos. take the world and remember the laughter...oouguhghghhhughhhh SHIT. they tick ALL of these boxes (and you can see what i mean about the new kids from yesterday part growing out of them).
oh my god i'm SO sorry you asked a straightforward question and i rambled for like several hundred words adjkaljgdlksajgd. what's ur favourite <333

I'm gonna post what the Umbrella Academy characters favorite MCR songs are
Luther- Summertime because he doesn't necessarily like the rock portion of MCR so he likes the more soft songs
Diego- Desolation Row because for one he's a badass bitch who doesn't care and two the song probably reminds him of Lila
Allison- Disenchanted because she's and actress, she loves the crowd despite how much pain it brings her. She feels like nobody understands her and she really resonates with that song.
Klaus- Ghost of You, basically because of what I said in my last post. It reminds him of Dave
Number 5- Kill all your Friends, because he feels alone alot and you can tell. The song also hits his trauma really hard with a lot of the lyrics
Brella Ben- This is how I dissappear, I mean come on just listen to it, of course it's his favorite song
Sparrow Ben- To the End "he's never around he's always looking at men" We all know Sparrow Ben is a little fruity just admit it.
Viktor- Mama, because he's a little trans boy
Sloan- The Jetset Life is Gonna Kill you, I think definitely because it's her favorite book and her trauma of Luther almost dying.
Marcus- Save yourself, I'll hold them Back, guys come on he's the leader and he obviously cares about them.
Fei- S/C/A/R/E/C/R/O/W because she is a literally so cool. This song is so passive aggressive: just like her.
Alphonso- Headfirst for Halos because he seems all sweet and innocent honestly but he he's not, guys he's really not.
Jayme- Early Sunsets Over Monroeville because she seems all badass and shit, but she's actually just sad. Like she seems to be the only one truly affected by Reggie.
Christopher- Cubicles but only because the name is funny and reminds him of himself.
Pogo- the Interlude from the Revenge album, I'm not sure why but it just felt right
Robot Mom- BulletProof Heart because even though she was a robot she actually loved the kids and would do anything for them.
Lila- Vampire Money because she would get such a laugh out if it. And she would probably peg Diego to it.
Stan- Destroya because he's a child and would think Gerards moaning would be funny.
Harlan- The light behind you eyes, it reminds him of his mom who cared for him, and Viktor whom saved when he almost died.
Delores- The only hope for me is you, I'm saying this because Five is actually a big old softie and he played this song for her. And just told people it was her favorite song
Reginald- would despise MCR and call them satanic or something

since this is the week of trans music here’s some trans songs and artists
artists/bands i like:
- machinery of the human heart. i don’t remember if i submitted anything from him but he’s a severely underrated transmasc artist. some of my favorite mothh songs: jesus on the telephone, summertime, arizona calling, walking out alone
- schmekel!! they are so near and dear to me as someone who’s both trans and jewish because they’re a band of trans jews making songs about being trans jews
- left at london. some of my favorite l@l songs are revolution lover and i don’t trust u anymore
- the scary jokes. nonbinary swag music
- ezra furman. y’all have to listen to transangelic exodus. truly one of the albums ever
- of course i have to include against me!/laura jane grace. she’s iconic
songs:
- sweet cis teen by dazey and the scouts. “to be trans is to be your own pallbearer / to carry the weight of a dead person around with you” gets me every single time
- gender is boring by she/her/hers. i gotta listen to more of her stuff because it’s good
- they/them/theirs by worriers
- talking ‘bout bri by megagonefree
songs that aren’t necessarily about being trans but i relate trans feelings to them:
- mama by mcr. listen i’m counting it as a trans song
- noel’s lament from ride the cyclone. such a gender song
- when i was a boy by dar williams
- alexandra by allie x. in a weird way i relate it to my younger self. also sasha velour did a lipsync performance to it that i just cannot stop thinking about (https://youtu.be/-MAINAyIwXk) (the performance i’m referring to is at 48:28 but if you have time i highly recommend the whole video. truly incredible collection of drag performances)
We need a separate playlist just for this week's recs

what are your favorite albums of all time? choose as many as you want idek
Oh, is this inspired by my "details" post? Hmm, okay, let's try this:
"Good Apollo I'm Burning Star IV, Vol. 1" by Coheed and Cambria. It's a concept album and I could not tell you the fucking concept outside of like... misogyny and violence. AND YET... it has stood the test of time. The guitar on every song FUCKS. Interesting vocal tone. Experimental and nonsensical FUN rock music.
"Europop" by Eiffel 65. The blue da ba dee album. The rest of it is really fucking good pop electronica. Or it's just so nostalgic to me I can't see how generic it is. IDC, the synth goes oFF without being too high energy.
"Details" by Frou Frou, obviously. Similarly, "Speak For Yourself" by Imogen Heap. While these albums don't contain my FAVORITE songs involving Imogen, they are my fave collections of her work. Music that feels like nostalgia--like guzzling a sparkling potion that bubbles inside you and pushes your sadness and fears and LOVE from your heart into your pores. Pop music for people who care about storytelling, lyrics, and true emotional connection.
"Multitude" by Stromae. Another, "Idk if fmy fave songs are on this album, but the project on the whole is the best one." Diverse sound, brilliant execution every time.
"Heart Station" by Utada Hikaru. Choosing a favorite Utada piece is hard but I think this has the tightest collection of tracks? Similar appeal to Imogen, though the musical influences are ethereal in a different way.
"Las Ruinas" by Rico Nasty. It's hard to even describe this album but I like how Rico keeps pushing new boundaries. I do like the dancier tracks here.
"Alive 2007" by Daft Punk.If you know Daft Punk, this is essentially a megamix of some of their best songs.
"Coloris" by She. Chiptune, electronica, idk how to describe this album. Feels like your brain is being carbonated.
"Renaissance by Beyonce." Sorry, such a generic answer I feel but... she did it. She put all her power into a dance album with diverse sound, making it all accessible without being watered down.
"Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge" by MCR because duh.
"Commit this to Memory" by Motion City Soundtrack. If you were an emo kid and wanted to kill yourself in the mid 2000s, you know this album. Even if it Kills Me is a close second, btw. Or My Dinosaur Life. I love a lot of MCS tbh. It's emo... pop rock, not surprising for me.
"eMOTIVe" by A Perfect Circle. It's alt rock. It's anti-war and depressing. "Passive" was playing in my head 24/7; I'd mentally turn it into an AMV every single day fo my life for like a year. I wrote a poem about it. "Thirteenth Step" is a very close second.
Technically, it should be "Hold Your Colour" by Pendulum, since it got me into Drum & Bass but I prefer the rockier depths of "Immersion."
"The Happy Star" Lexie Liu. Experimental pop music that reinvents itself each track, sampling from different genres. I just find it really enjoyable and keep returning to it. Might be recency bias.
"333" by Tinashe. An album tht contains the whole human experience--sadness to horniness. Good for her. You can dacne AND cry? Good for you.
"Remember that You Will Die" by Polyphia. Largely instrumental... prog rock meets trap meets electronica?
Choosing a one direction album feels like being threatened at gun point so I won't. Just know they belong here.
"Making Mirrors" by Gotye. People mock him for disappearing after someone that i used to know BUT DID YOU STREAM THE ALBUM?? Jazzy at times, rocky at times, psychedelic at times, BUT DID YOU LSITEN????
The Sims (Original Soundtrack). If you don't get it, I'm not explaining. Kill yourself.
"Perfect Velvet" by Red Velvet. I do think this album is the best kpop has to offer and I'm not fucking joking. I think SM put so much of their pussy in this track, it made their downfall years later inevitable. SM music is so sketchy now because the entir ecompany sold their souls (and pussies, bussies, and extraneous holes) for this album. "I Just" and "Kingdom Come" alone are like... god tier. R&B by a kpop group done CORRECTLY.
"Reborn" by Kavinsky. Feels like alternate timeline Daft Punk, including the The Weeknd knock off track. I couldn't... not love it.
Foster the People's "Supermodel." This alt-rock album got to me when I was profoudnly mentally ill in college and never let me go.
"Season of Poison" by Shiny Toy Guns. I love their first album just as much, tbh, but the anger feels like it's aged better. This album feels like a God's retribution. It feels a religious experience, including all the scary kinds.
"What's Your PLeasure?" by Jessie Ware. Disco-y pop. Sensual. Slick. Longing.
"1 of 1" by Shinee. CHoosing a Shinee album was HARD. Incredible kpop. If you want SIIIINGERS, COME HERE LISTEN OT THEMMM.
and if I didn't want Brendon Urie dead it would be a fever you can't sweat out btu I literally can' tlisten to his voice without my stomache hurting so
I'm probably missing a bunch but these are the first to come ot mind while quickly scrollin thru my phone
feel free to ask me my fave tracks off the album or by these artists

green day's "american idiot" for the album thing? and/or "21st century breakdown"
I have to admit that I listened to Green Day a lot in middle school and high school (particularly American Idiot and Dookie), and there are select songs I continue to listen to, but in terms of albums, I haven’t listened through in a while!! I’m also much more familiar with American Idiot than 21st Century Breakdown.
American Idiot:
The best song on the album: Holiday. Could there be a more perfect lead-in to Boulevard of Broken Dreams? A great anti-war protest song. The guitar!
My favorite song on the album: Boulevard of Broken Dream. Is it a generic answer? Maybe. But I have such nostalgia around this song!
My least favorite song on the album: She’s a Rebel. Nothing against it. It’s just a little repetitive.
The most overrated song on the album: American Idiot. Maybe it’s a cop out because it’s the title of the album. Realistically, it might be Boulevard, but ✨the nostalgia✨prevents me from putting it there.
Most underrated: Extraordinary Girl. Look, is this the best? No. But people act like it’s the worst on the album, and I just don’t think that’s remotely true! It’s a great song.
The banger of all bangers: St. Jimmy. It goes hard, and I just find it fun!
Rate from 0-10: 7/10. I think @sirdorkalot said this recently, but it embodies the Bush era. It’s one of the biggest concept albums, and it’s a pop punk classic. It doesn’t really do filler either, which I appreciate. It took me back to middle school listening to it all the way through again!
21st Century Breakdown:
The best song on the album: East Jesus Nowhere. It’s catchy, great lyrics, excellent outro, just a blast overall.
My favorite song on the album: Peacemaker. Hands down. (See below.)
My least favorite song on the album: Christian’s Inferno. Great inclusion of the laugh in the song, but doesn’t otherwise hit as hard. Also, Last Night on Earth. It’s pretty, but it’s too long and gets a bit boring.
The most overrated song on the album: 21 Guns. Like with American Idiot, it’s not a case of me not liking the song. It’s just the one I’ve heard the most off this album, so that’s why it’s getting put here.
Most underrated: I don’t have a good enough sense of the whole album to say that. That said, ¡Viva La Gloria! isn’t one I see talked about a lot, and it has a great intro and then picks up in a way that reminds me of MCR and other bands of the era.
The banger of all bangers: Peacemaker! This is the only name I’ve heard for the genre, so apologies, but I love this g****y punk vibe of the chorus so much. It just makes you want to shake your head along to it!
Rate from 0-10: Don’t come at me, but, as an album, maybe 5.5-6/10? It’s solid and cohesive and has its standouts (Restless Heart Syndrome is another one I didn’t get to mention), but other songs blur together for me. Not necessarily an album I’d go back and listen to a lot in one chunk, but songs from it will continue to be a part of my playlists!
Send me an album, and I’ll tell you what I think.
