petition for Hozier to stop creating lyrics where he talks about animal death. My heart cant handle it. Let the kitten sleep safe and sound, let the fox drift peacefully into nothingness and no animal is hit by a car ever. Thank you.

ok but there are definitely some parallels and similarities with In The Woods Somewhere and Abstract (Psychopomp) that we gotta talk about

To celebrate one full month of Unreal Unearth I want to highlight some songs of his that I love and are highly underrated! Mostly songs that didn’t make it into full albums.
In no particular order:
1. NFWMB - Nina Cried Power EP
2. arsonists lullaby - From Eden EP
3. in the woods somewhere - self-titled expanded edition
4. swan upon leda
From those first three you can see I like a song with a dark, kinda spooky vibe, (add these to you fall vibes/spooky/Halloween playlists IMMEDIATELY) and swan upon Leda I think is a really good example of hozier’s ability to mix a really gorgeous sound with an important political message about gender and sexuality.

“The creature lunged. I turned and ran to save a life I didn't have. Deer in the chase, there as I flew, forgot all prayers of joining you. I clutched my life and wished it kept. My dearest love, I'm not done yet.”
