Do you think Toothless ever grumbles and is sarcastic in his internal monologue and then goes: "Great. I must be exhausted I'm starting to sound like Hiccup."
Hiccup building a gadget in the forge two meters away: "Did you just make fun of me?"
Toothless grumbling about how it's a long time past midnight and they should be asleep, can't Hiccup tinker in the morning or something
Hiccup: "No one is forcing you to be here, Toothless."
Toothless howls at the other and glares. Hiccup glares back. They're having a glaring contest at two in the morning.
Moments later, Berk's heir is being dragged back to the hut by his sleeve by a dark creature that almost blends into the shadows save for annoyed vivid green eyes as the boy argues with the Unholy Offspring of Lightning and Death Itself in hushed grumbles.
I definitely need to observe this more but I feel like in a lot of actual play or adjacent (ie, sf podcast) fandoms there's like. a particular fan mindset that takes almost every action from secondary characters in the worst faith possible with the exception of villainous/deeply morally ambiguous characters, and so you get people who will assume everyone is out to get the protagonists EXCEPT for the person who has shot at them 20 times while kicking a puppy; that person is misunderstood and deserved a redemption arc.
The curse of being a Midst fan is not knowing remotely how to pitch the show to non-fans in a way that susinctly and accuratly describes the experience of the show because it is So Unlike Anything out there, and then having no one to share these thoughts that are burning holes into your brain
Be alone. Eat alone, take yourself on dates, sleep alone. In the midst of this you will learn about yourself. You will grow, you will learn what inspires you. You will cultivate your own dreams, your own beliefs, your own stunning clarity. And when you do meet the right person who makes your cells dance, you will be sure of it because you are sure of yourself.

I think some people who talk about Orym are actually talking about Phineas Thatch without realizing it.
I don’t think Orym is gonna give you the “military guy hits rock bottom and must confront the ways in which his worldview has harmed others” arc you seem to think he will, but phineas midst podcast is right there. You want someone who struggles to overcome the black and white thinking he has as a result of his trauma and upbringing? Phineas Thatch is your guy.
Having read these interpretations of Orym, I really think they would appreciate Phineas’s arc. I see the frustrations with stagnation from Orym’s character, and I think Phineas’s character would scratch that itch!
Saw a post that said "y'all don't deserve trigger warnings for this one" in regards to the atrocities in Palestine right now and there is something that makes me so indescribably mad about that.
Most importantly it is so deeply, disgustingly dehumanizing to the people in front of the camera that you are claiming to care for. Using someone else's trauma. Someone else's suffering. Someone else's pain. To in turn traumatize others? To guilt them? To intentionally trigger them because "they don't deserve it"? That does nothing. That does absolutely nothing.
How does stripping someone of their personhood and turning them into shock value trauma porn for the sake of proving a point to other vulnerable people do anything constructive?
What good does that do for the person in pain besides turn their pain into a tool to inflict further damage?
How does that help anyone at all?
"But it's awareness!!"
No it's not. That's not advocacy. That's not "spreading awareness". That's intentionally going out of your way to degrade, demoralize, and guilt people by preying on their sense of morality and using the horrors of genocide as a fucking prop for it. And you are a sick bastard for that.
I was today years old when in learned, "Ma Meilleure Ennemie" uses French in the feminine case. This means that the "Enemy" in "My Best Enemy" is being referred to in the feminine gender, as in Jinx.
On one very obvious hand this could be about Ekko's perspective on Jinx and how they got where they're at, where they go from here, and what has it meant to either of them as whatever partnership they forge won't last.
But my more fun crack theory is this could be about Caitlyn realizes Jinx isn't the worst person in her life, it's Ambessa. The Noxus-Piltover alliance has fallen apart and Caitlyn is horrified to realize Jinx isn't the reason everything's worse and she's having a near mental breakdown as she thinks of all the choices she's justified under the previous assumption.
The trailer for the Midst mini-series Moonward will drop on July 24th and we - we being the people frequenting the Midst fan discord - would like to celebrate this by overtaking the Critical Role fanart gallery!
It has come to our attention that not many people know it is even possible to submit Midst art to the CR gallery, so presumably there are lots of pieces ready to be submitted. Of course you are also welcome create something new!
There seems to be no rule regarding the age and number of works one can submit to the CR gallery, so submit any art you would like to show off!
For those who've never submitted their work to the gallery: it's really simple! Just go to critrole.com/submit and there will be a little form where you can enter the link of your post and how you would like to be credited (by username and/or full name or however you want!)
Let me know if you have any questions!
Also: if you haven't already, join us at the wonderful ✨Midst fan Discord✨!
Not enough people are listening to Midst imo, so I'm going to do my level best to fix that by making this poll! Please choose a tearror to be afflicted by.
All of these are canonical, and this doesn't even come close to covering the weirdness of the Fold from which tearrors originate. Please, if you think these sound fun, go listen to Midst.
