Good counters to stupid advice?
Everyone contributes something and if we get unsolicited advice, we can say something about it straight away without taking it home with us and being sad about it.
For example:
"You've got to feel better at some point" or "You're always feeling bad" with something like: "Do you understand the term chronic/incurable illness?" feel free to add something!

Coming to terms with the idea of maybe it's going to be harder to be able to live in the same way other people do has been really hard. It means putting aside my own ideas about life and jobs and careers. While everyone else gets better stats, even at a shitty job. All I can do is sit at home and play games all day or sleep. All while things pile up around me literally.
Then my friend said it doesn't matter if I never work, if all I do is play games. Their sibling, who is also my friend, also told me that not everyone has to be doing something productive all the time or even at all. It's okay to be disabled. They're both hardworking people who earn their money. So it was a big deal they said this. That people's assumptions about me and others like me, are just wrong.
This allowed me to go down a healing process where I was able to re-evaluate my life. To determine what I'm capable of, but not by other peoples standards, by what I know myself to be capable of. Knowing that is the first step to anything. Even if it means I may never work at all. Being at peace with that and okay with that is a very big step forward.
It's okay to have goals, but sometimes we have to re-evaluate how those goals match up with our own capabilities. I'm not bad or gross or lazy because I don't work, or have trouble cleaning myself or my living space. I didn't just decide not to do those things. I have a hard time with them because of my condition. Forcing myself to live up to standards that will physically hurt me will only lead to more problems.

after recently gaining access to my medical records, i am mystified to discover that instead of recording my regular t-shot as "sustanon injection, intramuscular" (as is standard), the doctor i saw last week chose to record it as "problem: gender. history: ongoing."

something i really enjoy about arknights magic system is how the healing magic works and they are kinda important, after all, Rhodes Island is a pharmaceltical company that also offer treatment and basically, to be able to proper use healing magic you have to know what you are doing, must have studied anatomy of the races and be pretty much a full medic. And despite being really powerful and useful, they are not a substitute of a medical treatment. Sure, in combat, a magic that can stop bleeding and close some wounds are really good, but if you lose a leg or become paraplegic, well, that's it, neither magic or the cience can heal you, they don't know how to do it yet.
This specific aspect of Originium Arts is great because the healing magic is useful, really useful, specially to be used in an emergency, in combat, surgeries, etc. but it's not a substitute, the person using it still need to study medicine to be able to really use that and probably you will still need some medical checkup after. (just think the healing magic as something really powerful, but is not all powerful and have important limits)
In Arknights we do have a bunch of characters that have explicit disabilities even with the healing magic existing because of course it can't make a disability go away, and of course, they are still combat units, some of them are really powerful ones, they exist and can't be unmade by the magic of the world.
And yes, this is about disability representation in fantasy settings, but i liked this lore about the healing magic of arknights way before all this talk started

several hundred pages into nabokov’s letters to véra I start to think I’m becoming immune to gasping and giggling every time he writes her something affectionate and then he ends a letter with “I kiss you on the clavicle, my bird” and its back to square one all over again

A bit of diary
my father just got diagnosed with liver cancer. He had a stroke back in May 2023, which semi-paralyzed his left arm. After that, he's been fighting seizures, tuberculosis, and eye cataracts. It's such a long, long, long journey. We felt every single day. After a year, we thought it's going well, his seizures subsided, and showed some development on his left hand.
But lately he's had some pain in the stomach and nausea, and got CT where they found a tumor in his liver, 7 x 5 cm. After coping that it wasn't maybe it was just benign. They just announced that it was liver cancer, which 5-year survival rate is one of the lowest ones.
I prayed to God. What did he do? He's such a brave, kind, loving, and the most generous, best dad to me and my siblings. He's a man of God through and through, hard-working, and has a high pride for his family, a man whose work has such an impact to the people around him.
I told my dad, he should be the one to give me to my husband when I marry. He should be there to watch and cradle his grandchild. But it's most likely that he isn't going to be there to watch me do any of those.
I mainly write this to release out my heart. I couldn't draw with complete joy this past year because of my father's health. He's been hit with disease after disease after disease. I feel so terrible for my father, the pain he has to endure all this time is too overwhelming, especially on my mother.
My mother has been the constant companion for my father in his battle with disease. She rarely cries, very optimistic that every disease, we'll fight them together, a woman of Psalm through and through. But after receiving this news, she cried in my arms. She cried and cried, sobbing in my shoulders, asking God to spare her husband from this barrage of sickness.
All I can do now is pray that my dad be comfortable. Be surrounded by his family and the people who love him. He's given his life to God, and the time is ticking.
He still have time. We're going to do any procedures and any treatment that can be done. I will make sure that he'll have the best days. So I'm sorry if I may draw less, but if you read this, you'd know that I'm with my dad.

Capillaries. Myelin sheathing. Microglia.
I love how the game seems to take inspiration from those simplified cell drawings with bright colors and exaggerated shapes.
I love how the devs seem to have used microscopic images as a reference to make their alien world feel more alien.
I love the way the myelin sheathing is on the cables because it makes electric signals travel at a faster speed in real life... Those designs work and don't feel limited by what they took inspiration from.
