Hello. I just got in contact with a group in Seattle making "solidarity" art and I wanted to know what that means to you. Is acknowledging the horrors in Gaza the most effective way to make Palestinians feel seen? Or is there more value in incorporating symbols of resilience, like olive trees, watermelons, and spoons?

By acknowledging, I mean create something enraging, like depicting the drastically different living conditions on the Palestinian and Israeli sides of the border wall. Healthy people in open farmland on one side and a warzone on the other. Or is it better to include a little hope? One idea I've been mulling over is painting a Palestinian child and IDF solider in a way that suggests David and Goliath (I found out the most common charge against Palestinian youths is throwing rocks). Another is Gaza as a torn tapestry with Mother Palestine sewing over and repairing the rips with tatreez.

I guess the real question is: Do you think most Palestinians would appreciate an attempt at comfort, or is it better to simply grieve with them?

Thank you so much for sending this in. My personal take is the most inspiring imagery are symbols of resistance. For example, this poster is embedded in many Palestinians' minds (click) as a prime example of resistance. I love images of olives and flowers not because they're soft, but because they represent life to me. Something I also adore is Rafeef Ziadah's poem "We Teach Life, Sir" and Samah Fadil's "Then, A Palestinian was Born," as words that speak to me as core parts of Palestinian resistance.

I think you can definitely mix strength and grief, or comfort and grief together when talking about Palestine. Refaat said it best: "the most dangerous thing I have is an expo marker but if an Israeli soldier were to come to my house I would use that expo marker and throw it at them." To us, the idea that we have to resist is grief and the grief moves us to resist. I personally really love the david and golaith imagery because it reminds me of the poster below.

I guess this is all to say that you can mix them together, the grief of seeing people dying and the strength of resistance against the oppression. What's the most effective thing is portraying the truth: Israel kills and Palestine resists.

How AURORA's album "The Gods We Can Touch" fits perfectly The Hunchback Of Notre Dame religious oppression theme —————— ⊹₊ ⋆. ♱ ₊˚ .⊹

I am NOT active in this fandom, but I have some things to say about it that might interest you guys. After this post I will go back to posting about my current fandom as always.

Basically, I watched The Hunchback of Notre Dame for the first time in my life last month because I'm hyperfocused on Disney films, specifically the classic 2D films.

It's a masterpiece, really, I wouldn't add anything to the story, everything it's just *chef's kiss*

BUT I WOULD LIKE TO MENTION THAT, ONE OF MY FAVORITE SINGERS, AURORA, HAS A WHOLE ALBUM ABOUT RELIGIOUS ABUSE AND NEGLIGENCE, PREJUDICE, YOU KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT and I just can't be normal about it

This album is called The Gods We Can Touch.

Yeah the title is pretty clear, while it's still open to interpretation. A huge part of this album is about religion, but also there is a huge part about respect, love and humanity, and she's not only inspired by christianity but also greek mythology. (Aurora says she loves the idea of imperfect gods, because this makes them closer to us, and maybe that's what the title is about. But she also says she sees God in the world around her, the love, the nature, the people, and maybe that's what she can touch. I don't know :/ let's go back to the Hunchback of Notre Dame stuff)

I won't go into detail about this right now, but we all know that there are many (many) people who use faith as an excuse to commit atrocities like Frollo, and this album is about that, I'm not really good at explaining so showing works better for me, some of Aurora's takes are:

The way people use religion to often demonize human behaviors, such as sexuality;

We need to choose between what's right or wrong, there's no in between, which is... questionable;

(Some) People use religion to opress, disrespect and blame anyone who's just living a free life;

And Aurora doesn't like to explain her lyrics, she leaves them up for interpretation. Although their meanings are really clear, I personally see these songs as an ironic criticism of these oppressions, not so much about God himself, but about the people who use his name to oppress. (She's an atheist, so I HIGHLY believe that she's talking about God himself, her lyrics seem to be talking to those people while disguising them as talking to God, and the message is very clear.)

This theme is extremely addressed in the movie, BUT this fandom doesn't know these songs yet. AND THEY NEED TO. IT'S A PITY THEY DON'T KNOW THEM.

Something I HATE is having to watch 'long' videos that I'm not interested in, so if you want to give it a chance but the length of the songs makes you discouraged, just listen to the first 30/40 seconds and decide if you want to watch the rest or not. I know how you feel. I will add videos with lyrics for the songs for people who understand English more easily if they can read the words (like me)

The four songs she really focus on this topic are: Heathens, You Keep Me Crawling, Blood In The Wine and The Devil Is Human.

These songs talk about the same topic but with intensities, explicitness and harshness at different levels. The first song is soft and proposes questioning, the second song talks in a desperate tone about how something that should bring her comfort is just abuse in disguise, the third song portrays revolt and sings the lyrics in a more explicit way, and the last song is harsher, which speaks in a more bold and direct way, like poison.

The song Heathens is soft and makes us question, in a slightly interpretative but still direct way, about what is said to be a sin but is just oppression. How people condemn "sinners" as heathens when everything we come into contact with is considered sin. These lyrics are a little confusing and require interpretation, but it is possible to understand what she meant with them.

You Keep Me Crawling has a double meaning. Both match Frollo really well (lmao). The first is clearer because she says how small and humiliated she feels, begging "on her knees", and this just hurts her — it's not a love relationship, but oppression, "Giving into love should never hurt for me, giving into love should set me free..." But there is also another interpretation, which is that of an abusive relationship, as I said I'm not very good at explanations so it's better for you to read the lyrics (or listen to the song which is a better option). These lyrics really remind me both of Quasimodo and Esmeralda, each one of them with their own situations.

The third song is about the pride of being a "sinner", if being a 'sinner' means being free and loving others. As I said, those lyrics are more explicit and they don't require so many interpretation like the last one. "I was given a name (I'm a human) before I was given blood (before violence), like you were given your faith before there was made a God (you're like this, but not because of your religion, you're evil because that's what you are)" it's pretty clear for me, her word choice and the way she sings these it's simply breathtaking. It's perfect for Esmeralda btw

And finally the song that motivated me to make the post, The Devil Is Human. Again, the title has to do with human beings always being condemned to sin and called pagans, on a level that humanity is so demonized by people, that this title means "our humanity is so hated that we are compared to the devil himself ". "The worst sin we can commit is to give in to what human beings were made to do: love." And again this is where the phrase "proud to be a sinner" comes from, as it is not about true sin, but accepting the judgments placed upon you just because you are... free. (You will be called a sinner if you are part of the LGBTQI+ community for example, even though loving should not be considered a sin. But that's not all, there are more reasons why she says this, such as cultural diversity on the planet and women's independence often result in violence, like the burning of witches, persecution, and more. You know what I'm talking about.)

In this song she sings in a more defiant way, and it seems like she is referring to God, but in fact she is referring to the people who contribute to the culture of hate and intolerance (at least in my interpretation). She's not afraid to be outrageous, bold, tough with her words, and doesn't regret anything she says. Reminds me of Esmeralda's actions and words towards Frollo! She has the same attitude!

This song was previously exclusive to vinyl and later became a single/deluxe. I believe it's because it would be too controversial to be placed on the main album. It would cause revolt and misinterpretations! And she didn't even made an official lyric video to it. That's fanmade.

So basically that's it! I was looking at some reviews of Hunchback Of Notre Dame and this came to my mind, and I hate the fact that people in this fabdom don't know about this wonderful album, as it fits perfectly with some themes in the film.

Episode 20 - My Friend Bashi (Part 1)

We had reached the milestone of 20 episodes, and I want to sincerely thank the readers for sticking with me so far. :)

I also have a small announcement: after finishing liveblogging this episode, I will take a very small break from the show to do some reading of articles and comics instead.

It's starting to feel awkward - constantly referencing some canon materials without reviewing them on this blog proper, y'know? I originally planned to do this all at once, before the movie, but I think it'll be more fun to do it in multiple reading breaks, during the show.

So many kids in this city, and Joris is friends with none of them. Except for Tatak.

All analysis and plot leaves my body as I think about how much Kerubim cares about Joris.

He's really not perfect, but no matter how much I joke about his failures, he really does care and try his best.

He's too nice for me to actually make fun of in any serious manner.

It's very nice to see the more down-low, bittersweet moments of parenting and childhood portrayed. It's also nice that it's just between the two of them, without Simone.

I love her, but it's very cute to see just Joris and Kerubim, and how they act when they're alone together.

I think that it's interesting, that even at 7yo, Joris is already at the... "this one social interaction was a disaster, and it's over, just irredeemably over"-level overthinking about relationships.

Perhaps it's knowing that for Kerubim it, often times, was like that. Kerubim did inspire very many people to either hate him with passion, or leave him.

Perhaps it's the fact that, besides Kerubim, Kerubim's friends, and Simone, he doesn't have a family; and besides Tatak, he doesn't seem to have any friends: and that makes him struggle with the idea of losing relationships.

Keke I will be real, I think Tatak is his only friend in general.

...Man. I am making myself sad by writing these things.

I don't think Joris ever had good social skills in his life. Just issues after issues.

As I've said in the previous posts, both Keke and Joris have an issue with needing to be liked always all the time, and the way it makes them do things to seem Cool and Awesome. Even if Joris has this issue in a very introverted way.

It might just be normal kids stuff, but it does add a certain flair to the things we see him do as an adult, if one accepts the idea he's always been like this.

Kerubim's way of connecting to others is to draw from his own experiences, and compare them. It's a more... mature way of cheering up people, than just saying "it gets easier!" like he used to.

For all his faults, Kerubim has grown emotionally from his youth. But it can be a thin line between making everything about yourself, and trying to say that it gets better from experience.

Even so, Joris cares a lot about his experiences and life (cough cough. the Lore), so it works for them, both as a way to distract him and to cheer him up. Kerubim knows this, it's his go-to technique.

Anyway.

I think Kerubim either vastly overestimates the depth of what happened here (I highly doubt Ecaflip is giving him tasks because he's "the best"), or he is lying to Joris, because "I spent my whole childhood afraid that my father, who is a living god, would eat me Zeus-style, because of shit like cleaning the toilets badly or not delivering the fish on time." isn't a nice story.

This is exactly what I'm talking about.

A small aside: according to The Wheel Of Destiny #8 Kerubim Crepin (which will be one of the things I liveblog during the Reading Break), Bashi and Kerubim became friends before the events of episode 3, Strich Hunt.

It makes a lot of sense, because before the events of that episode, Ecaflip had... a very rough way of treating and speaking to Kerubim. Even if he had a soft spot for him, enough to save him (and then manipulate him) during said Wheel of Destiny article, I think Kerubim only truly cemented himself as Ecaflip's most favourite in the Strich Hunt episode.

Also, considering the fact that in Wheel of Destiny, little Bashi reports to knowing and strongly disliking Atcham, it's safe to say that in this episode we have a confirmed instance of Atcham being canonically present and simply not mentioned.

...keke sure is the guy who says "im the last living crepin. laugh" while having a brother. insane.

I yet again want to gush about the portrayal of relationships in this show.

I think all of us can relate to meeting someone, and not thinking much, — not yet knowing that they will turn out to be one of the coolest people you've ever met.

Anyway, tangent incoming.

One thing that's interesting to me, is that Kerubim is never depicted as having friends in the temple. From what we see, he spends most of the time alone, or with Ecaflip.

The reasons may be:

He is Ecaflip's favorite. He had important tasks from the moment he joined the temple. It alienated people.

He was Atcham's brother. Kids are judgemental, and Atcham is a perfect bullying target. Chances are, they didn't like him due to the association.

He came in very mentally ill and unsociable, due to, y'know, being orphaned, and never managed to make friends because the impression that he's "the sad mentally ill kid" stayed.

No wonder that he got anxious around three people, and then immediately trusted them when they were nice to him.

He probably hadn't had anyone be nice to him in ages. Or, like, acknowledge him too much, at the very least.

I won't elaborate on how I think Atcham was treated in the temple lest I fucking scare you, (Something-something, literally catboy Rule of Rose,) but I will say that, just like Atcham is still violently mentally ill due to whatever happened to him, Kerubim's experiences with loneliness and alienation as a child most likely fueled his dishonesty and attention-seeking behaviours as an adult.

So I understand why, even though Bashi kinda sucks, Kerubim is so broken up about losing him. There's a lot more tragedy to this than one can first see.

It was a very important moment for Kerubim to finally have a person in his life that wasn't his father (who constantly threatened to fucking eat him), one of the kids who either disliked him or were too intimidated to talk to him, one of the random monks, or his severely mentally ill brother (who fucking hated him.)

He was his first friend.

Heyooo! If I may, could I recommend some Dabi oneshots/fics/headcanons?? Or even just blogs, really, whichever works.

Ah, I'll do both, why not?

Just off the top of my head:

@malewifetouya runs a soft Dabi blog, meaning that there's no non-con/stalking/ Yandere stuff. It's fluff and smut, but the way Dabi is written is very soft and indulgent. She really explores the softer side that we could have had in the manga and anime, and kinda humanizes him. It's beautiful, really. Truly one of my favorites!

@dabisqueen writes soft stuff and dark stuff! I would honestly recommend her oneshot, 'Devil With Blue Eyes'. The way Touya/Dabi is written in that would be perfect for this cuckolding idea of yours! He's cocky, he's arrogant, but also soft for the reader. I know she recently uploaded a new oneshot called 'Virgin Call' but I haven't gotten around to reading all of it. From what I've read though, he's witty, he's quick, and the smut definitely delivers in that one!

@justanotherpersonwhohateslife has some Dabi headcanons on the Masterlist, and some of them are hilarious! The way Dabi is written is cocky, smug, and a bit of a tease, but it's all in good fun!

@dabislittlemouse is another good blog. (It has dark content, be warned) She writes fluff, smut, and angst, and Dabi is mostly portrayed as smug and confident, slightly cocky sometimes- just enough that you might feel slightly annoyed. But her writing is awesome!

@dabiboy has a Dabi section on the Masterlist, and it's a mix of fluff, smut and angst. There's also a bunch of texting story things, ranging from smut to fluff; I feel like those specifically would be great inspiration for writing his character for your idea, particularly the smutty ones.

(If I may, one of the texting stories involves cheating. That would be great inspiration for this idea of yours!)

I'm unsure if I've posted about this before, but I am not a fan of reading other people's works and writing my own works based off what I get from it; I think it shows, and people can tell. If you don't have a writer's consent, it can turn into ideological plagiarism fast.

When I said I was thinking about reading Dabi fics, it was to get a better idea of how he talks because I don't know his speech patterns for dialogue (which is why I omitted dialogue in one of my drabbles). But I realized quickly I should just rewatch the anime (even if it'll take time lol) if I want that information, or have a conversation with someone about it.

I want to be respectful of other writers on here and of their works, and their characterizations of Dabi as well. If that makes sense!

Matters on the WIP if I am being honest! I do have several of them that came from strange dreams I had, as stereotypical as that is. Particularly Waking into Divinity and The Ghost & The Machine.

Soft Touches, Godless Hands is my take on a horrible YA book I read at one time called Halo. Except I'm making it gay. And not evangelical lol

The Tales of Ozoarth is... a strange case. I have a post detailing its inception floating around here somewhere but its one of those stories that you have as a kid and just kept changing and growing basically.

Once I get the idea, whether its from a dream or some other media or trope I want to do a different way, I tend to let my brain wander a lot in terms of characters and worldbuilding and I try and write down or note everything that I think of, whether it contradicts itself or not. The same is said with important scenes.

For example, for the first series of TToO, I have a lot of the major scenes already planned in my head as well as general idea for character arcs and such. But the details on how to get from Point A to Point B is what I am missing. A lot of my WIPs are like this.

I've always been someone who liked to write stories, even when I was a kid I used to write a lot of random stories and such. There are some ideas I have I just want to put to paper (well, online paper) because they are stories I am interested in reading myself.

Plus there are not enough monster stories in the world written and portrayed in the Particular Way I like. So there's that too.

My top 15 kpop albums of 2023

It's been a year since I posted something. At this point, I feel I'm only writting to keep a record for myself of my favorites of the year. Still, if anyone cares to read this, know I've posted my favorite korean music and dramas of the year every year since 2016. First up, my favorite albums of 2023.

15. Heize-Last winter. I've honestly been in a Heize break for almost two years because I felt her songs started to sound too much alike but this album got me excited for her music once again. It has bearly been a week since it came out so I did hesitate including it but I think it portrays my favorite style of hers so at the end I was like "yeah, it deserves a spot". Forget me not feauturing BIG NAUGHTY's beautiful vocals is my favorite song of the album. However her title, a collab with 10 cm, is a close second. Picnic of the Night gives us a more uptempo beat and Chan's sweet vocals are so relaxing. I think I will be listening this album a lot in the next few months.

14. PENOMECO-Rorschach (Part 1). Ever since Penomeco entered my radar I have loved pretty much everything he has released. I do prefer his more chill music but this year he brought us more of his hip hop side and released two mini albums called Rorschach, both could have easily made my list but I think at the end of the day I like the album he released in april a bit more, and he does have two songs with Zico in this one, which did tip the balance for me. As I said, I do like his more layback music so my favorite song is Margiela feauturing Paul Blanco. The album starts with strong beats with Boy Pablo (2019) and stays on track with his title song Rindaman feauturing Zico. His other collab with Zico: Pew! is also a fiery song. As is Bubble. He slows down for his other three songs and they all are such a great listen.

13. TREASURE-Reboot. I think TREASURE has had really bad luck, from their delayed debut to the ups and downs lately. The thing is I've always prefered those groups I actually feel excited to listen to their whole albums and TREASURE has really delivered in all of them as far as I'm concerned. People keep saying YG is holding them back by making them have the typical YG songs like BONA BONA or STUPID on this album but since I'm a fan of those kind of songs so I really look forward to it. However it was the songs by their subunits I actually liked the most MOVE is just such an exciting song and THE WAY TO by the vocal unit is just my kind of ballad. To be fair listening to Jungwoo and Jihoon sing is such highlight for me on all of their songs. I just love their tones.

12. Taeyeon-To. X. 2023 was a year where I really got into Taeyeon's discography. So I was really excited for this comeback. The title To. X is a fun midtempo break up song. I would have liked Melt Away more as the title but I did love both songs. This is also a recent release so I moved it up and down in my list a lot. I'm also having a hard time picking a favorite song. I also enjoy listening to Fabolous with the quorky beat and witty lyrics but I think I actually liked all the tracks equally.

11. VIXX-CONTINUUM. VIXX has changed a lot over the last few years but somehow this album with only Leo, Ken and Hyuk sounds very much like VIXX used to sound in 2015. They really stand on their own and all of their voices are amazing. However I've always had a soft spot for Leo and his vocals in Lilac are just heavenly. Probably why I love that ballad so much. I was actually surprised with Hyuk's low vocals that give a needed twist to Leo and Ken's power vocals. All five songs in this mini album are so good. The title is Amnesia and the MV aesthetic is obviously inspired by the movie Dune.

10. NCT DOJAEJUNG-Perfume. This release kind of blind sighted me. I never thought Doyoung, Jaehyun and Jungwoo would come together in a subunit so in that sense they reminded me of the time I heard EXO CBX was debuting. I really love the title Perfume. It's one of those rare times the title is actually my favorite song of the album. I thought they would do a ballad for their title but the fact it was an upbeat sexy song was unexpectedly right. Doyoung is my favorite NCT vocalist so listening to him this whole album was such a joy. Jaehyun's vocals can be a bit overlooked in NCT127 just because Douyoung and Taeil are so amazing. Listening to him have more time in this album to shine was exactly what I wanted. I love Jungwoo's personality and honestly I was afraid he would get a bit lost in this album but my worries were unnecessary. Often I found his low notes were that little bit of spice the songs needed in this album. I loved all the bsides but Dive and Strawberry Sunday were specially a fun listen. And of course they had to do a traditional SM ballad (Ordinary) which is just beautiful.

9. D.O.- Expectation. I'll never stop wishing for EXO's Kyungsoo to do an r&b album but his heart is in easy listening heartfelt songs so I can't complain. I'm just happy to get anything from him as a solo artist. This mini album has so many pretty songs. I do is my favorite hands down and one of my most played songs of the year but Lost (both the acoustic and the regular version) is such a fun song to listen to and could have easily become the title. The vocals and the melody are so powerful. Ordinary days and The view also have a fun melody. The title Somebody is really catchy and the MV is so sweet.

8. TXT- The name chapter: Freefall. I have to confess I haven't gotten into TXT's content. I just came to like them gradually in the last couple of years and there was so much to catch up on that I haven't really get to know the members at all but the albums are a different story. Deep down is my favorite of the album but Happily Ever After is also a highlight. The title Chasing the Feeling gave us a fun retro beat and the chorus was really addicting. I also found Skipping Stones to be an interesting song. Love the guitar and bass on that one and the vocals by Beomgyu, Taehyun and Huaningkai are just heavenly. And of course the collab with The Jonas Brothers was a bit unexpected yet exactly what I didn't know I wanted.

7. Zion.T-Zip. This was almost out of my list because I just listened to it a week ago, but I had to add it. Zion. T is just so unique and entertaining to listen to. His collab with AKMU called V is my favorite. But as expected, this is a no skip songs with great use of instruments, beats, vocals and occasional rapping. He even released three MVs for this comeback (Stranger, V and Unlove). The album is 10 tracks long yet only sums up 26 minutes. Thank u featuring Yun Seokcheol is also a highlight.

6. V-Layover. To be honest, I was not excited for V's solo stuff. I was expecting a lot from Jungkook and Jimin but not from him. I don't know why. So it was so surprising when I actually wasn't excited with the songs they released but I really loved V's album. It's my fault really because I do tend to overlook Taehyun's vocals when listening to BTS. The sound he went for it's exactly my kind of music. Layover just feels sophisticated. Blue is definitely my go to song with its fancy r&b sound and Love me again has my favorite beat of the album. Slow Dancing is so sweet and For us takes you in a journey. The album is only 5 songs but from the first listen I knew it would make my top 10 of the year.

5. NCT 127-Fact Check. For me, this is the first NCT127 no skip album. I liked LIMITLESS a lot but even that one has a couple of songs that are just not for me. NCT 127's titles are either a huge hit with me or they rub me off, this time around I found Fact Check so addicting. I love Space's melody but Misty is my favorite overall. Everyone's vocals are on point but Taeil is such a wonder to listen to on that one. Love is a beauty is also a great ballad. Parade might be a hiphop heavy song but Doyoung's beautiful vocals really stand out to me. And Angel Eyes gave me a bit of NCT U's With you vibes. I love Mark's parts in Je ne sais quoi then again everyone sounds so good in that song.

4. Taeyang-Down to Earth. Taeyang came back with a bang. Every song on the album feels so big. I wasn't a fan of the title VIBE featuring BTS's Jimin on the first listen, but it really grew on me. The chorus just pops in my head from time to time out of nowhere. Shoong featuring Blackpink's Lisa is amazing, and the performance video is crazy good. Seed is the power ballad of the album. Nightfall featuring Bryan Chase is also a highlight with its retro pop beat and beautiful vocals.

3. Taemin-Guilty. The void Taemin left while he was in the military could not really be fulled by anyone else. He's just different. And yes, a lot of it is the performance but the music always comes first. This album is only six songs but they all are so good. Not gonna lie, the first time I heard The Rizzness I was confused because the strong beat and rapping surprised me. I didn't know if I liked it but it really grew on me after hearing it a couple of times. I'm obsessed with She loves me she loves me not and its playful melody plus it's definitely my most played track of the album. Not over you and Blue takes us in a dreamlike journey.

2. Red Velvet-Chill Kill. I was surprised to realize this is the only album from a girlgroup I liked this year. I even forced myself to listen to some albums of the most popular girlgroups right now but it's just not my kind of music. However this album is straight up my alley. A Velvet R&B album. I hadn't enjoyed a Red Velvet album so much since The Perfect Red Velvet. My favorite Red Velvet comebacks are always the one with a creepy twist so Chill Kill was on point with that strong beat paired with a sweet chorus. Knock knock (who's there) is a seemless follow up to Chill Kill. Underwater is one of my favorites for sure but these days I keep going back to Nightmare. Iced coffee and One Kiss have catchy chorus while Wings is uplifting with beautiful vocals.

1. EXO-EXIST. My Spotify Wrapped top 5 songs belong all to this album. It's actually the first time it happens. Despite me being an EXO-L, some pop or indie songs are usually in the mix, but I guess I missed EXO. They just did all the things I love in an EXO album: r&b, beautiful harmonies, and fun beats. I keep changing my favorite song of the album. At first, it was Regret it just because the production is so great. Then I was like, actually, all the falsetto and runs in Cinderella makes it my favorite. Yet I kept feeling No makeup was the perfect r&b EXO song, so I thought: that one for sure! But of course, the title Cream Soda is so catchy, and the chorus is expectacular, so obviously, that's the one. Nevertheless, Love fool is so much fun to listen to, and I do love Sehun and Chanyeol's verses in Another Day. Then why is my most played song of the year Let me In? And what about Hear me out that makes me happy every time I listen to it? Don't even get me started on Private Party's lyrics! Anyway, you get the idea, so just do yourself a favor and check out this album.

Also, Happy Late Tears of The Kingdom release date. Second of all, finally an excuse to ramble about your works as much as the Tumblr word account limit will allow me in an extensive way like a greek orator holding assembly like Plato talking about Atlantis. Or well at least some, cause if I were to ramble about everything you've posted so far we'd be here all day (SPECIALLY if I were to gush about Time and Twilight), so I'll limit myself to an arguable top six for today.

Ahem. *Clears throat* Anyway if I have to pick any works that are my favorite of yours, my very first pick would likely be the Fear Room.

Wind and his intense trauma about losing Aryll? His desperation as an elder brother who was supposed to protect her and thought he failed again? Wild and all of the ghosts of his kingdom that haunts his steps because he died way back when because he failed and the feeling of survivor's guilt being in full display? That if he could he'd trade his life for theirs so he wouldn't need to live with the most intense feeling of failure out of all the Links and to look at Hyrule and Zelda and everything like the pages of an old faded book? To say goodbyes to people he doesn't know anymore? Sky and his feelings over never being enough? Of always being just a second too late while the people he cares for are in danger and out of his reach, further made worse by the fact Demise's Curse took hold because of his actions/inaction in Skyward Sword and that feeling further exacerbated by Impa through the game? Hyrule not wanting all that he went through to be for naught and not wanting to be all alone again, specially given that without Zelda he wouldn't be able to keep Ganon at bay alone? Twilight's pure anguish and desperation of seeing bad things happen to his loved ones and losing them again and again and being unable to do anything about it? Time being so afraid of losing control over the Fierce Deity and being so, so, so tired. Tired of being strong, tired of being thrust into adventure after adventure and having his agency denied again and again on wether or not he wants to continue on or not? That he has been strong for so long that he not only just cracks, but BREAKS. Warriors pulling his punches because even if it looks like his shield brothers betrayed him and he's tired of traitors he doesn't want to believe it and doesn't want to hurt them? Four failing to save Dot, his childhood friend and in turn likely losing not only Ezlo but the colors and Shadow, literally pieces of himself after he jigsaw puzzled them back together and likely can't see himself living without them? LEGEND WITH THE KOHOLINT TRAUMA? Not to mention all of the other people he lost over the years, his parents, his uncle, technically Sir Raven of we go by the manga who was basically like a brother to him (also know as an incredibly gorgeous man I am itching to write for after the Fairy Tale series is done), Marin, technically Ravio and Hilda if Ravio doesn't go to live in his house after LBTW's, and finally Reader's reaction and lingering trepidation after it's all said and done, it's really well written horror and the horror enthusiast in me delights in it even if it's pure pain and my dog will never not be startled when I giddily cackle over it, 1000/10, would absolutely read again. Plus it inspired stuff for certain parts of the Fairy Tale au.

Tending Temptations, First and Reader are "Just Friends", calling them by their name and Prince Twilight- *takes a deep breath* What it I just die? Those are also a one shot and drabble that will need their own post, but let's just say that the frequency I reach when I read any of them and makes me way too soft and should probably only be heard by small mice, because I adore the way you portray Time and Twilight and First specially given there's maybe only one other author who writes them as well (shout out to Dreaming of Lu and their impeccable Time and First takes) and I love the way you write Twilight with all my heart, I don't think there's anyone who's come as close to delighting me when writing him so really, thank you so much for all your work in the fandom!

And finally, if predictably, the Fairy Tale and Dragon au, Dragon au will have to be it's own thing but I feel like the Fairy Tale au is probably a bit self explanatory since I'm writing a series based on it xD, but also I really like seeing the Links throw into a sudden situation and how they'll adapt and react to it and a great way to do that is to throw them into Fairy Tales we know or even in myths (*cough cough* Just saying, Twilight would kill it as Tam Lin and Time would make an amazing Odysseus) and you have some really unique ideas, so definitely a must read and what inspired me into trying to expand on it in greater detail (when life isn't kicking me in the ribs that is).

Overall, you're a great writer, and reading your stuff after bad days is an almost sure fire way to brighten my day and to make anyone's day, so thank you for all your work in the fandom! Hope you're doing well!

(I realised that the first paragraph combined with this being anon could give the impression that this was something negative so I’m just gonna stress that this is a VERY positive ask<3)

It’s been a while since I sent an ask (we’re talking probably ten years at least), but I wanted to try to articulate something after reading the ficlet (?) you posted about Wayne and dementia on the 29th.

First off, I’ve worked with people diagnosed (and undiagnosed) with dementia, and you managed to very elegantly capture the amount of self awareness, but also softness of a lot of the people I’ve met. I’m trying to articulate something that isn’t necessarily easy to explain (especially since english is not my first language) but know that it warmed my heart how you managed to write about a condition that is often made to be a death sentence, when it is something that is just a part of life for a lot of people and the ones who love them. In an attempt to not completly flood this ask I’ll leave it at that, and hope that you’ll at least take away from this that the way you wrote about dementia felt very real, without writing it as a tragedy.

Secondly (and lastly, I promise), I very often shy away from fics and ficlets (? again- rusty on the terminology) that border on angsty or bittersweet (I have a tendency to internalize), but you have an incredible way with words that made this so enjoyable even though the subject matter very easily could fall into either of those categories (for some, maybe it did!). I don’t know how to perfectly articulate this either but it felt so sweet, and a little sad, but lovely all the same.

In conclusion (I actually hate this, I’ve written an ask as if it’s a small research paper): you’re an incredible writer- something that shines through, even in so few words! I hope your day is as wonderfull as you writings made mine<3

I've had a few family members with dementia, mostly when I was younger so I guess that really shaped my view of it. So with this, I kinda just wanted to focus on the lighter parts, like you said how it really becomes just part of life and part of that person, it's not necessarily tragic all the time. Maybe from Eddie's point of view it definitely has harder days, but I wanted to show Wayne's perception and those bits of awareness he has, and how Eddie and Steve just kinda let him navigate it, instead of despairing. I'm glad you could enjoy this! I appreciate the compliments to my writing so much and I'm glad I portrayed it all in a way that resonated with you too!!

Set: Before the events of PL4

Warnings: Reference to a restraining order for Wren and Socket’s dad?

Summary: There’s a blackout. Wren and Socket deal with it

Wren was perched on the edge of her bed, pouring through some business plans Crow had given her, when the lightbulb above her suddenly flicked out. 

Everything went dark. Wren sighed. There was a yelp from the kitchen just opposite their bedroom:

“Wren?”

“In our room, Socket!”

She heard the door creak open and Socket wading through the sea of clutter that was their bedroom floor. 

“Ow!” Socket whined as he tripped over something. (Wren had told him to clean up in here!) “Wren, where are you?”

“On the moon?” Wren quipped, still sitting on her bed.

“Oh! There you are.” 

“Where else would I be?” Wren stood up— slowly so the wooden slats in her bed wouldn’t break even more. 

“I dunno….” She imagined Socket was shrugging. Then she heard a smirk in his voice. “Sitting in a tree with Crow—?”

“Shut your trap!” Wren snapped. Her gaze whipped to their tiny window— as if the rest of the Ravens might all be listening— but it was too dark out there to tell. 

In general, the market was a dingy place, with how tightly all the buildings were packed together, but there were still some streetlights. They were a necessity in Misthallery— especially from autumn onwards! 

…But would anyone bother repairing the streetlights while the spectre was rampaging around? Wren definitely wouldn’t want that job!

“The streetlights are all out,” Wren said. She scowled at Socket. “Did you short circuit something again?”

“I didn’t do nuttin’— not this time!” 

(Last time, he had overloaded the kitchen sockets with too many appliances…)

“Okay, I believe you…” Wren huffed. She rubbed her arms as the cold started to creep in. Of course, the heating must have gone off too…

“Let’s go check the fuse box,” Wren said, picking her way across the room.

“We can use my torch!”

A small, bright light shone in Wren’s face. Wren shielded her eyes. “Socket— have you had that this whole time?”

“Yeah!” Socket beamed. “Why?”

Rolling her eyes, Wren gestured for him to follow her.

Their fuse box was located right next to the front door. 

After checking the door was safely locked, Wren tried flicking some of the switches in the fuse box. Socket held the torch up for her to see.

They waited for a few minutes, shivering in the dark, but it didn’t make any difference.

Teeth chattering, Socket wondered, “What now?”

“I don’t know…” Wren turned to the door. Would any of their friends be out at this time? Crow might still be at the black market… but did Wren really want to walk over there right now? With Socket? 

What if they crossed paths with the spectre?

Socket moved the torchlight to the door. “Look…” 

At the base of the door, there was an unopened white letter— a bill, most likely. 

“Did we forget the pay something?” Socket gasped.

The envelope was ‘private and confidential’, addressed to their mum, but Wren gently tore it open. She squinted at the letter and shook her head.

“Nope… Nuttin’ to worry about!”

Nothing for Socket to worry about, anyway. He didn’t need to know that, once again, their mum had been denied a restraining order from their dad.

Some part of Wren wondered if their dad was to blame for the blackout— like a lot of problems in their lives— but she couldn’t pin this on him.

This was just one of the many joys of living in the ‘lower end’ of Misthallery. 

Wren puffed, expecting to see her breath turn white in the air. “I-is Mum back from work?”

“Maybe?” Socket mumbled.

The two of them crept into the living room, where they heard soft snoring from the sofa. Socket swung the torchlight towards the sofa, but before he could wake their mum, Wren swatted his arm and hissed, “Give me that for a sec…”

Stealing the torch and leaving Socket standing in the living room, Wren dashed off. She returned with the blue blanket from Mum’s bed and carefully tucked it around her sleeping from.

Wren kissed her mum’s wrinkled forehead. Wren froze as Mum shifted and yawned. “What time’s it…?”

“Sorry!” Wren gasped. “Didn’t mean to wake you— it’s fine if you want to go back to sleep—“

“There’s a blackout,” Socket blurted out. Wren pouted at him. So much for keeping quiet… 

Mum sat up on the sofa, the blanket still draped around the shoulders. 

She blearily looked around— from Wren, to Socket with the torch, to the rest of the dim room— before she sighed. “We’ll sort it out tomorrow…”

Smiling wearily at Wren and Socket, she opened the blanket on her shoulders like a pair of bat wings. 

Socket dove on to one side of her. Wren nestled in to her other side. Mum wrapped the blanket around all three of them.

Socket switched off the torch. Mum gave him a kiss and then she did the same for Wren, murmuring into her hair, “Thank you for looking after me.”

i held onto this for like a full 24 hours because every time i tried to reply to it i felt like iw as going to cry (not clickbait)

it's so funny bc i recently went back to fact check something that happens in one of the earliest instalments but i couldn't remember which part it was so i ended up reading a couple of them and i was like !!! because it is so SOFT and LIGHTHEARTED in the early days to the point that i couldn't help but think how hard it must be for osamu to remember all those little moments at the point in the story that we are now :( seeing his couch and thinking of reader curled up on it. thinking of how she takes 2 sugars each time he makes himself a coffee. his bed feels too big for one person even though it's not. IT MAKES ME SAD.

I’m the same anon who was raving about ur penstagram fic before it was even out lol(speaking of which is very good and I love it so much THIS is the content I want; luz confusing hunter out with her human lingo/ways. as always, thank u for the food it was delicious. you’ve also given me inspiration to potentially start a fic of my own for goldenlight! I’m not going to promise anything, but the idea has been growing more and more in my head by the day, and I wanted to thank you for always posting such lovely fics about them, bc who knows if I would’ve even considered writing for goldenlight otherwise?!!!)

but concerning the finale, am I the only one that felt it was strangely… underwhelming? i truly can’t pinpoint exactly what it was, maybe my expectations were just set too high, maybe the effects of the show being gutted prematurely by the mouse are really starting to show through for me personally, I don’t know. but it’s been making me feel insane since, online, I haven’t seen much of anyone feeling the same? I’m truly not sure why I feel this way because it’s not like things didn’t happen, because they obviously did!! but there was just something strangely unsatisfying about it that I can’t shake.

i have been trying to be aware that the owl house was always probably going to feel rushed at least somewhat because of everything, and I hate feeling like I’m kicking the toh crew while they’re already down. the LAST thing I want to do is be a hater of the show, or be the person who meticulously picks at media until I’m suddenly convinced my opinion is completely right and that said media is suddenly completely terrible and has always been. I’ve tried talking to my friend about it, and while they actually agreed a lot with what I had to say, they’re not the type who like to in-depth discuss about this type of stuff lol.

i guess my question is, what did you think of the s2 finale? did it hit all the emotional beats to you, or even just mis of them? (pls don’t feel pressured to agree with anything I said lol. i just wanted to get it out of my system. I’m truly curious about your input! trust me, I would be more than happy to be told why I’m wrong actually and have my eyes opened. seriously, no pressure lol.

Hi! :D I'm so glad you're enjoying the Penstagram shenanigans, I feel like there's a lot of room there for some silly fun. Also, I'm thrilled you're considering doing a fic yourself! I know I never would have bothered writing for the pairing if I hadn't stumbled across the Goldenlight community first and realized I wasn't alone. If you ever do write and post something I'd love to read it. <3

You are not alone in your feelings about the finale. While there are parts of the finale I really enjoyed, other parts were very disappointing to me. I enjoyed King's role in the episode (and King's interactions with Luz) and I felt that the Collector was really interesting and engaging. But the other stuff . . . ooof. I've been doing some thinking and I think I've pinpointed one of the major problems with S2B and the finale. This may sound strange at first, but I think a major issue is that it focused too much on the romances to the detriment of everything else.

Hear me out. (Rant incoming!! If somebody wants to skip I will mark where my rant ends.)

With Luz, after the events of 'Hollow Mind,' you'd think she and Eda would be very worried about Hunter running away into the woods, alone, traumatized, and in extreme danger of being hunted down by Belos. And yet in the show, they never even mention him again. What's more, Luz does not worry about any of her other friends, either. In 'Clouds on the Horizon', she is single-mindedly focused on finding and helping Amity, nobody else. This is presumably because they wanted to feature L*mity in the episode, but it means that Luz has been acting wildly out of character, because she should be worried about her friends too! When her friends do appear, she is relieved, but she still barely even interacts with them, and the whole thing feels super weird and ooc. (We saw signs of this even earlier in S2B during 'Follies At the Coven Day Parade.' She is real stressed about telling Amity about her promise to stay in the human realm . . . but doesn't give a crap about telling Willow or Gus!) Throughout S2B, the over-focus on L*mity means Luz stops having meaningful plot time with any of her other friends. Including a really interesting friendship with Hunter that was just entirely discarded.

With Hunter, whooo boy it's a mess. Hunter had a beautiful character arc all set up for him. And yet, in King's Tide, he is robbed of that arc entirely. Instead of Hunter confronting Belos, standing up to him, and addressing his identity crisis, proving he is a REAL person with his own will and his own fate, NOT a tool of Belos, Hunter's involvement with the story is removed almost entirely. He doesn't have lines, he's made utterly pathetic during fights so that Willow keeps saving him-- in order for the show to force more 'romantic moments' in-- or he spends the time just assisting the other witches, not actually fighting for himself. This is out of character and ridiculous. Hunter is facing something terrifying, yes, but he is more then a capable witch and fighter. He's the head of the Emperor's Coven, for pete's sake, he's had tons of training. He can stand his own ground and he deserved to have a chance at his actual character progression plot. Instead it's discarded for more 'Huntl*w moments.' Which is absurd. It's far, far too late into the show for Hunter to have a canon romance. He deserved to have his identity crisis and other issues addressed in the story, not have some rushed last-minute romance shoved in there, something that feels completely out of place, forced, and not organic at all because clearly there was no time and space to develop a romance properly. It's just insulting.

(EDITED TO ADD: Amity suffered a lot from too much focus on romance too. Her character had so much interesting potential, but she became little more then “Luz’s girlfriend” and Amity’s plotlines with her parents and siblings were shoved to the backburner. Her reconcilation with Willow likewise was shoved aside and it made it super uncomfortable because it made it seem like she only cared about Luz. Amtiy never truly apologized to Willow for all the years she tormented her, nor did she take full responsibility for her choices and actions, and I don’t believe that’s because Amity is a bad person. I believe it’s simply because the writers did not priorotize that story. So it never got told. This sucks, because we ended up with an Amity whose character was never properly explored or developed.)

With Eda, even she didn't escape the downsides of too much focus on romance. Eda's story throughout this show has been one of my favorite things. Her curse was really relatable for a person who suffers from long-term mental health issues. (Many people with chronic health issues also relate to her a lot.) Her story has been about how she has battled with and eventually come to terms with her curse and how it's impacted her life and her relationships. But in the last few episodes leading up to the finale, the focus has been mostly on Raeda angst. I would argue the focus has been a little too much on Raeda, because I always find it more fulfilling and enjoyable when we use her screentime for how she's learned to open her heart again to the people in her life (everyone.... her sister, mom, dad, Luz, King, not just Raine).

Let me assure folks: I don't hate romance. I'm a shipper and this is a shipping acount, for pete's sake, of course I don't hate it. Nor do I hate L*mity or Huntl*w (they're just not my cuppa tea). I just think the writers ended up focusing too much on the romances and when they did, it took something very important away from the show. This show is about found family and friendships and deeper life lessons, too, not just romances. Or at least, it used to be.

I know I'm being very critical here, but it's only because it saddened me to see a show that started off so strong, slowly derail into this. I have no doubt a major factor in all this was the crunch time/cancellation, of course. It's just a shame that when the writers chose what parts to sacrifice . . . welp. If you weren't a romance you didn't get priority. 🥲 I still hold out hope the S3 specials might give a little more room for Hunter's character arc and other plot points, but we'll see. Let's just say I'm not holding my breath, heh.

I am slow. Especially at the moment, as my health has been on the decline the last few months. I can take a day, or a month to reply, but know it does not ever indicate how much I like a thread. I go by inspiration in that moment I'm sitting at the computer. I prefer quality over quantity. Sometimes I can write novels, other times, hardly anything.

I practice mains, and I'm giving exclusives another try. However, earning exclusivity is difficult, I won't lie. I need to know you well and trust you. It's something that has burned me in the past and I'd like not to repeat that. For now, since this blog is very new, I have no mains or exclusives.

B: Any of your stories inspired by personal experience?

Ugh. Ain't Nothing Funny When a Soldier Cries has some personal experiences in it, as does Girl Crush. One was more fun to write than the other.

F: Share a snippet from one of your favorite dialogue scenes you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.

You're making me think. Ugh. Let's see... From "You Rescued Me From Reachin' for the Bottom"

'Alex dabbed and wiped with a gentle touch until Reggie’s face was clean. Tossing the dishcloth into the sink, he stepped to the freezer for a bag of peas. When he came back, he gently laid the frozen peas against Reggie’s eye. Using his free hand to grab Reggie’s hand, he squeezed softly, then said, “Tell me who did this to you.”'

It's just...ugh, words are hard. I have a really soft spot for protective friends, and Alex is so often portrayed as the soft, sensible, voice of reason, while the other guys are the "kick the shit out of them" sort. I love the way I characterized Alex in this fic, as the one who will protect Reggie at any cost.

N: Is there a fic you wish someone else would write (or finish) for you?

I would absolutely love to have someone finish my JATP Beauty and the Beast AU! But I have to be honest...they would have to follow at least my idea for it, even if they didn't write it exactly the way I would. It has some....twists planned, and it would definitely be different from anything else I've ever read.

R: Are there any writers (fanfic or otherwise) you consider an influence?

You! And Faith. <3 I literally wouldn't write at all if it weren't for the two of you, and your writing...gosh, both of you can move me to tears with a sentence. Sometimes even when it isn't supposed to be sad.

T: Any fandom tropes you can’t stand?

I think I answered that earlier? But basically, not really. Not a huge fan of major character death, but over all, if it's well-written, I'll try it out.

U: Share three of your favorite fic writers and why you like them so much.

Oh, wow. Only three? Well, there's you, obviously. The pictures you paint with your words are just...heart wrenching, in all the best ways. I truly can't remember the last one of your fics that I read where I didn't cry at least once, and usually more.

Lomonaaeren is another. They write in the HP fandom. Sometimes I laugh, sometimes I cry, they have convinced me to try new ships...I have never read one of their works that I didn't end up loving! I'm subscribed to get notices for absolutely everything they post.

And I can't choose a third, because there are SO. DAMN. MANY talented writers out there!!

V: If you could write the sequel (or prequel) to any fic out there not written by yourself, which would you choose?

Oh, I was afraid someone would ask this one.

Writing a prequel for The Strength of Gold could be really interesting! Finding out what happened to get the guys to the point they are in that fic....yeah. But that author is WAY out of my league, so I wouldn't even approach them!

Alright everyone, here’s a follow up to the doodle page post of Sun and Moon, where I’ll explain some of the scenarios that inspired some of said doodles!

Some context before:

-I hc that the daycare is not only occupied by young children, but also teens! They like to come in and hang out with the attendants after school and do homework/destress. They often post to their social media’s and such about their time spent in the daycare (such as funny tik toks where they’ll do trends with sun and moon like jokes and stuff, or do a QNA with hilarious results)

-I believe that moon is actually super friendly as well, and that Vanny’s virus effected both Sun and Moon respectively: Moon became twisted with his reprimands (normally he’d just sit a child down and talk about taking care of yourself in a soft voice and genuine concern, which normally convinces them that anything is better than feeling bad for potentially “disappointing” moon), while Sun became TOO friendly and eventually, overbearing. The constant coddling can be suffocating but I imagine it’s not as panicky normally. So, in conclusion, no edgy moon portrayed here! (Sorry!)

-Sun and Moon still register now adults as the same kids they were before (as in still caring for them) and happily welcome them in the daycare!

Onto the actual scenarios!!

-One of them is Sun and Moon when asked for advice dealing with a text received begging for someone back from a terrible ex. Moon is asked to “not be mean” because he’s normally more strict with things so they expect some bite towards those types of things. He instead types a very simple “no.” and hands it back happily. Sun, on the other hand, responds with a large rant and types furiously, all the while kicking his legs while fuming.

-Another, though not clearly visible, was where an older teen shares the news of college acceptance with their animatronic friends! Sun is ecstatic, throwing his hands out before scooping them up and giggling— then he worriedly (while trying to hide it) asks, “You’ll be back, right? When’ll you be back? How long will it take?” Moon’s reaction is much more mellow, as he lays on his stomach, hands holding his head as he lightly kicks his feet behind him: “That’s lovely, dear,” he says warmly and proudly. Then, his eyes narrow as his smile somehow seems more strained despite its inability to emote, “College— your sleep schedule, it certainly won’t take a hit, right? You’ll sleep on time and take good care of yourself, certainly, yes, yes,”

-I also wanted there to be one where sun and moon listen to their teens rant about their crushes while they grin and giggle excitedly. Sun and moon become invested, exclaiming and gasping when listening to interactions they’ve had. I can’t even begin to imagine what’d happen if said crush were to visit the daycare with them and wonder why the animatronic seems so giddy to meet them.

-There’s an abundance of silly moons because I love him and wanted to see more mellow takes on his character.
