Introducing the Writer Tag Game

Hello, there. My name is Kayla. I'm a writer of mainly fantasy and YA genres but I have dabbled in sci-fi, mystery, and poetry. I love to write about found family, friends to lovers, subverting stereotypes/tropes, and dealing with trauma.

I am mostly sfw but write abuse/violence, some SA, suicide/depression, grief, trauma, and a healthy dose of murder, so just be aware of that. Tropes you will never find in my writing include anything smut related and I'm drawing a blank on every trope I know so forgive me for not listing more.

In my humble opinion, my best work I've posted is... I've mostly just posted snippets of my WIPs but there's How to Get Lost (posted to Facebook years ago) because it stars 6 year old Jayme who is the cutest little bean. At some point in the story he says "I haven't eaten myself but I don't think I'd taste very good" and proudly shows off a slug that got stuck to his arm to his mom. My all-time favorite characters I've made are Jayme, Takashti, Shuntala, Kaira, Taerxyu, Zim, Alex, Sofia, Cris, Nim, Ka'il, Kulon, Athanian, Nahuel, Djamila, Nkiru, Aten, and Kualu. The majority of my OCs are my babies but those are the ones that have an extra special place in my heart.

Something I'd love for you to know about my writing that isn't listed in this game is: I have a lot of disabled and/or outcast characters and I'm aiming to be as diverse as I can. Also I love Jane Austen for her wit so I like to add at least a dash of humor into my writing even during some serious moments.

✧ Who looks more like their dad? ✧

Out of the three of them, Elmira is the only one who has her dad present in her life. Crow was the bastard child of the family, the product of an 4-year affair their mother had with a commoner, while Aurora was adopted into the family when she was young. Which leaves Elmira as the only one who closely resembles their father, with his sharp nose, dark red hair, and pale skin.

✧ Who looks more like their mom? ✧

Crow looks much more like his mother than Elmira does, at least he used to, anyway. It’s a fact that he hated growing up, especially because it didn’t make his “father” any more sympathetic to him.

✧ Who eats the most? ✧

To be honest, none of them. The three of them have developed horrendous eating habits, all of them eating as little as possible. Though, when compared to her younger siblings, Elmira makes sure to eat at least one decent meal per day.

✧ Who has been in the weirdest situations? ✧

Definitely Crow. Having left home when he was only a teenager, he ran into quite a few odd people during his time on the streets. Elmira and Aurora both had very structured, orderly lives under their father’s command, which left them with not much room to get into weird situations.

✧ Who sleeps the most? ✧

Elmira, which isn’t saying a lot, seeing as Crow can’t sleep and Aurora is the definition of a workaholic.

✧ Who has the most stable romantic life? ✧

Crow, who actually has the experience for that statement to be true. Both Elmira and Aurora have never had the time to date, even if they wanted to.

✧ What is the worst habit of each? ✧

Elmira is easily persuaded by others, and doesn’t follow her gut instinct, instead just following along with the orders she’s given.

Crow is extremely defensive and apathetic, especially to those he doesn’t care for. He always puts himself first, because he’s the only person he can truly count on.

Aurora is angry and driven by rage. She sacrifices her health, her mental well-being, her relationships, all in the search of revenge.

✧ Who is the most dramatic? ✧

Aurora, who also loses her shit over practically any inconvenience.

✧ Who had the weirdest phase? ✧

Probably Aurora, who had a full-fledged emo phase as a teen.

✧ Who is the best cook in the family? ✧

Elmira is the best, and can cook quite well. She made many meals for Crow and Aurora while growing up. Both Crow and Aurora are terrible cooks.

✧ What is their best memory together? ✧

Though there are not many memories the three of them can name as happy, there are a few that they have as children that they all look back fondly on.

✧ What is their worst memory together? ✧

The day that Crow left — the day the three of them recognize as his death. After he disappeared, everything only got worse at the Koroleva estate.

✧ What is their dream trip together? ✧

Nowhere.

✧ Would you rather: Not be able to shower OR not be able to change clothes? ✧

Elmira: “I’m not extremely particular to fashion if it comes at the expense of my personal hygiene, so I’d say…. change clothes.”

Crow: “Shower. No question about it.”

Aurora: “Shower.”

✧ Who's older? ✧

Elmira is the oldest out of the three!!

✧ Describe each other in three words. ✧

Elmira: “Z… I mean, my brother, is caring, empathetic, and resilient. Aurora is hard-headed, determined, and goal-oriented.”

Crow: “Elmira? Stuck-up, small-minded, and ‘family-oriented’.” [He sneers the last word and laughs.] “And Aurora, hmm… Naive, hot-headed, and stubborn — as fucking hell.”

Aurora: “Elmira is bossy, responsible, and closed-off. And that… traitor?” [Her expression twists up in obvious distaste, eyes border-lining hatred.] “Dangerous, savage, and disgusting.”

✧ Who's their role model? ✧

Elmira: “I don’t have one that I can think of.”

Crow: “Myself.”

Aurora: “Father.”

✧ Who usually has the worst ideas? ✧

Elmira. I don’t even need to say anything else.

✧ Who is the certified "Bug Killer"? ✧

Aurora is DEATHLY afraid of bugs, ironically enough, considering what she does for work, and always has Elmira kill them for her. Crow likes chewing on whatever bugs he sees lying around.

The Introducing Game

Thanks to @agirlandherquill for the tag. Original post here.

This took me a couple of days to get to, but whatever. Happy Easter, let's introduce something.

Rules: Share something about your current wip - the title, the plot, the characters, the world, or even the soundtrack! anything and everything you'd like!

For this, I'll use my technically newest novel, Ninth Realm.

(I really need to redo that banner at some point. I overdid the bloom something fierce)

So, let's get introducing.

Title: Ninth Realm (For space on the banner written 9th Realm)

The title comes from an in universe belief that there are nine worlds, the ninth being heaven or some kind of paradise. But the truth of whether it's real or not is something the characters will have to work out.

The World: Set in the fictional country of Golada, a small island nation somewhere off the norther coast of Europe, about the size of Britain, the country is not in a good state. War-torn following a skirmish with a foreign power (they picked a stupid fight with America and got steamrolled), the story mainly focuses on one city, where the police are powerless, crime is rampant, and so some citizens have taken to vigilante bounty hunting to try and restore some law and order.

Golada however has a unique church, The Church of the Ninth Realm, that believes in the concept of the Ninth Realm heaven. A tenant of this belief is the Sovereigns who guard the Ninth, a choir of angels, the most holy and devout. There have always been rumours of angels in Golada, but of course, no proof.

Until our heroes find one in a casket in a warehouse.

The Plot:

During a mission to raid a criminal warehouse, our heroes find a living Sovereign in a mechanical casket. Not really an angel, but an alien being from another realm. However, despite her being not human, they decide to see what happened to her as kidnapping, and help her track down her captors, getting to know and care for this strange alien being along the way. Things get more complicated though as they start to learn about the people who want her captive, and that other Sovereigns might be after her too.

The Characters:

Angela: The Sovereign, taking the name Angela from one of the team. She joins them to track her kidnappers, but is quite open and willing to be friends, fighting hard to help her newfound family. As a Sovereign, she has a few abilities. She can fly and fire psychic blasts, is invulnerable to human metals, meaning she's bulletproof, and also has empathic abilities, able to sense the emotions of those around her, which makes it much easier for her to trust people as she can tell when they're lying. Also, her psychic power laces her voice, making her voice dangerous, making her functionally mute, though the team work out a few things to help her (Sign language, and a mechanical voice box to speak through)

Angela's got a good heart, even if she's been through a few troubles in the past... and will certainly be through a few more before the story's done.

The Team- Mike, Reggie, Hunter, Pheobe, Jess, Simon.

Reggie: The Sergeant, the tactical leader of the team. An older solider, staying behind after the Goladan war to repair the nation he damaged. A kind and clever older man, of Jewish heritage, but rather wavering faith. He lost any belief after the war. Even so, an angel in their midst does raise certain questions.

Mike: The Corporal, Reggie's second in command. Still following Reggie even after the war, Mike has come away with far more scars than his commander. He keeps his mind by keeping to the task, and doing what he can to help. A bit stern, cold at times, but he does care deeply for his team.

Hunter: The Helper, Hunter is an assistant, occasionally helping out in the field. But, despite being a large, muscled man, Hunter is not a soldier. The truth is, he's the team's accountant. But, good humoured, big hearted and brave, he helps in the fight when needed, mainly just to intimidate the enemy rather than actually kill anyone.

Pheobe and Jess: The Tech Team, and a married couple. Pheobe and Jessica work as a unit on the team, Pheobe working mechanics, Jess doing programming. Pheobe's an outgoing punk, Jess is a stern goth, but despite their differences they love each other dearly. The only strain on their relationship is that Pheobe has to go out in the field to do her thing, and plug Jess in to hack, which does put Pheobe in danger, much to Jess's stress.

Dr Simon Morrow: The Medic, Simon was originally an English doctor coming over to help with the aid effort for Golada, but after the team saved his life, he joined them in their vigilante efforts. Often more rational, sometime sharp, he's one of the few who can stand up to Mike, especially when it comes to team safety. But he keeps them fighting fit, and quite frankly, he comes to quite like Angela as she joins them.

The Soundtrack:

Every Time We Touch, (I mainly listen to this cover version by Lauren Babic) - Empath powers where others can feel her emotion by touching her? This song is Angela's battle theme.

All For One by Shadow Academy - All for one and one for all? Great for the found family dynamic. Though technically I always link this song to a side character I haven't listed here, named Annabel.

And, that's about it. I posted some little snippets back in November, which I'm sure you can find in the #NinthRealmStory tag on my blog. And yeah. That's it for now.

I learned to become as invisible as the creatures were for all the others. I didn't tell anyone anything about the beings anymore. Until I met you.

Thanea learned early on that she seems to be the only human who can see behind the veil that hides the supernatural. Neither her parents nor her brother do. In school she got bullied a lot and sent to therapy by her parents for seeing/imagining things.

At some point she stopped wondering why she had this connection with magical creatures and just accepted it, trying to live in line with both worlds. She became very reserved and wary of humans, tries to not let them too close in fear that at some point the instances where she can't hide her ability will drive them away again - or worse.

But she's also naturally curious so when Nevras shows up with the possibility to find out more about herself she can't say no.

Coffee Break Tag Game

Thanks so much for the tag @athenswrites! For this tag I'll be using my WIP Asteria Heights.

"Large iced caramel frappucino and a spinach and feta sandwich, please. And then for the next order, could I get a small americano and a golden apple tart? Thank you." Meg paid before claiming a seat. With business being surprisingly slow this morning, it wasn't long before her orders were ready. Aven arrived not long after, bags deep and hair disheveled. His eyes lit up at the sight of his friend- or more specifically, the coffee she'd ordered for him. "Thank fuck." He collapsed in his seat, seemingly turning boneless. He made grabby-hands at the coffee. Meg snorted, but handed it to him anyway. It was only then that he scowled, scrutinizing the cup. "Why is it so small?" "Because you know damn well that that's the largest you're allowed to have." Aven squawked. "Allowed?! I'm a grown ass man!" "A grown ass man that's barely five feet and lives off caffeine and Takis." "One; the burn keeps me alive. Two; I eat other things." "That's true. Like candy. And the leftovers you steal from me." "You know what? If you're just gonna be an ass, I can leave." Despite his complaints, he made no move to actually do so. Meg grinned. "After I bought your order? I don't think so. You're sitting your ass down and we're spending the day together. You owe me a hangout after last week." She didn't mean it, but she did. With all the bullshit that happened this past month, Aven owed her a normal weekend; especially after he'd double-booked himself and ended up ditching her for Nina. From the way a smile threatened to overtake the fake pout on his lips, it was clear he wasn't going anywhere.

Introduction♡

I haven't done a proper introduction, so here it is! :)

My name is Pax, and I am 20 years old.

I am gender-fluid and use they/them-she/her pronouns.

I grew up in, and currently live in Sweden with my parents.

I'm currently studying, after an hiatus after my high-school graduation.

I'm in university and reading a course in Creative Writing.

Honestly, I've loved writing since I was a kid, but it's now that I'm a young adult that I've decided to fulfill my dreams of becoming an author.

Apart from writing fan fiction on Tumblr, I am working on a crime story with a paranormal theme.

I've always wanted to share my work with other people, whether it's shorter stories, or longer stories. I'm pretty insecure when it comes to sharing my stories, but that's a fear I'm tryna overcome by writing stories here on Tumblr lol

Apart from writing, I enjoy reading, crocheting, being with friends and family, and listening to music. I'm also a big Sims nerd lmao

I'm neurodivergent (wooow what a "suprise) and have struggled a lot with mental health during the years. Writing is a good way to cope, and I've used it to heal during the years. I have a big passion for creative writing and wish to one day have a job where I can fulfill my writing dreams.

I've been meaning to start a blog for years, but for new years, I was like: Fuck it, let's go! And boiiii I'm happy I did! I'm in lots of fandoms, but I tend to obsess over the characters there's barely any fanfictions about. *cough* Mike Ehrmantraut and Nairobi. *cough* So, here I am to write about them (and other characters I adore)😌✨

I'm also active on c.ai and Pinterest! (On c.ai I make bots - usually with similar stories that I post on Tumblr. On Pinterest I mostly shitpost and make memes lol)

These are the first, or among the first, instances of the words being used in everything written up to this point (47k+).

The stone rippled, glowing shades of darker and more pleasant greens and blues, centering and fixing itself to the mask that now here became the cúlabi’s face.

He glanced at the baby curled to his chest, light catching in the twinkle of its eyes to make them shimmer like moonlight as they peered back at him.

From up here at the top of the tree, it was as though the vastness of the ocean encompassed everything there ever was and would be to see.

From The Curse of New Royston, chapter 9:

“But, I suppose if you’re like me, and you don’t like the curse, you could always just…grow up and leave.”

“Eh, not really.”

Gio furrows his brow. He glances down at Cricket. “Why not?”

“Well, firstly, it’s difficult for us to even get to the border,” Cricket explains. “You have to go through Southaven, where people won’t even see you if you’re our size.” He pauses for a moment. “And then there’s the fact you’ll grow out of your clothes. And it’s a big walk to the next city—at least five miles, if I remember correctly. And you’re pretty much gonna start with nothing. You need help to get out; someone to make sure you have basic necessities, transportation, pretty much everything, y’know? Multiply that by however many people you need to bring with you, if you even can. Otherwise, you’re just a group of naked bums stumbling along the roads, and I’ve heard the people in the neighboring towns just pick you up and put you right back here!”

Working through what Cricket’s telling him, and taking it to its logical conclusion, Gio speaks.

“You mean…there’s people trapped here?”

Cricket sighs. “Guess you could say that. Just depends on what they have, how good they’re doing.”

This is going to be the new pinned post on my blog for the foreseeable future.

I realise that I never really introduced myself, usually I just talk about my projects, but not the person behind it.

I'm Lizzy (she/her) and in my mid-twenties. I'm from Belgium and in my day-to-day I work full-time in payroll for a non-profit.

When I'm not working, I'm writing, reading or playing video games.

Writeblr Introduction

I've been lurking for a year so I thought I'd introduce myself.

Hi, my name is Mack, and I've been writing since I was 8 years old (I'm 19 now). I am in college for Secondary Education with a concentration in English, and I'm beginning my second semester this Fall.

I mainly write fantasy at the moment, but I have dabbled in mystery and paranormal/horror as well. My favorite WIP at the moment is a fantasy/mythology book called The Thriving Village of Nyr, which I have lots of worldbuilding done on, but only one chapter written. My other WIP is unnamed, but it's more dystopian fantasy.

I am one of those writers who has like 10 WIPs going at once, so my goal is to have at least one finished and published before I graduate from college.

Hobbies outside of writing include crochet, cooking, reading, character sketching, and video games (my favorite is Animal Crossing).

It's a pleasure having met a bunch of writers so far, and am looking forward to meeting many more

the introducing game

a fairly new story has been haunting me recently, and i thought i'd use those ghosts to come up with something fun, something slightly different - and here it is, a little game for the world of writeblr to take part in! rules: share something about your current wip - the title, the plot, the characters, the world, or even the soundtrack! anything and everything you'd like!

and because I'm attempting to be fairly organised, I'm going to share my entry for this game in a lovely little list! so, without further ado, introducing my wip: the title: Doubtless - i'd love to be able to explain where the name came from, but i can hardly remember, except for the fact that it's a word i've always loved, and there's just something to this story that fit the definition for me

the characters:

Adalia Morelli - Adalia holds a very large place in my heart, because I like to think of her as almost a much more fearless version of myself, if I never worried about speaking my mind, if I understood myself a little better. And she is also stubbornly determined too. All she wants to do is move onto the next chapter of her life, to complete her training and spend the rest of her life as a Maiden - a position that can help people. But when her life is interrupted by a Pirate, she finds herself tested and has to question what it is that she truly wants. And to find out how little she really knows her own heart.

Lochley - only the one name, how very ominous, how almost unforgiveably arrogant - well, to me at least, that's Lochley. He's arrogant. He's charming. He's also a Pirate, and he has plans. One of which relies on Adalia. (you can assume a fairly accurate idea of how well that's going to go.) And I think, at least in personality, he's always come across to me as a man who would be like Flynn Rider, if he were slightly more tormented, and of course, also a Pirate.

the world:

the first part takes place on the sea, on a few ships, and a few different island spots all over the world

the second and third parts take place on the Glass Isle, a major point of trade and business only a few weeks by boat from Aliria - and of course it takes place in the same world as Ruin's Reprisal, and you'll catch a few glimpses of familiar details in there too (the prologue especially, but it did make me smile to write it, and I hope it makes you all smile too one day when it's out there and ready for the world to see)

the plot:

adalia's ship is commandeered by lochley and his crew, she escapes by throwing herself out of a window and into the sea

lochley dives in to save her, and swims them both to a nearby island

pirate hijinks ensue - violence, robbery, even a trip to the gallows (one of my favourite sections of the entire story)

once they finally make it to adalia's intended destination, lochley encourages her to hold up her end of a deal they made a long time ago - become a Governess in the Governor's household and find him a way past the Estate's impenetrable walls, and he will return her mother's necklace that he stole - and after that, he will walk her to where she needs to go in order to start the next chapter of her life

but being a Governess and a sort-of-spy for the most infamous Pirate in the Iron-sea is far from easy. adalia must face more dangers on land than out at sea. the Isle may promise the brightest of starts but it's not without its shadows

Adalia has to learn that sometimes the best thing to do is to steer clear of the light and shelter in the dark, for the truly good things aren't always the brightest

the soundtrack:

Ethereal by txmy and freya ridings - I can honestly say I've had this on loop while writing a few Adalia and Lochley moments

Davy Jones by hans zimmer - the inspiration for this story first came from rewatching potc1, but it was this song that left me longing for the waves myself, and it fit so much of the first part of the story that I've had it on loop an almost unhealthy amount - but hey, whatever fits the writing right?

Devil by RIELL - this song was very important for soundtracking a BIG chapter in Part Two

Love Story - Sarah Cothran - this song haunted me almost as much as the characters in this story, it was just the perfect fit for a soundtrack

one very vital fact I absolutely cannot forget to include - Doubtless will most certainly not be the last time you'll be seeing these characters. One, you'll see sooner than the other (aka Adalia, because I've already let slip - at least I think I have - that an entire parallel storyline involves her in rr2), and the other in the near future, but not too far away (writing demons and life permitting)

A Writeblr (re)Intro

It feels like an appropriate time to reintroduce myself considering how long I've been gone so,,,,, Howdy!

I'm Charles (he/him), though I'll answer to just about any variation of my name. I'm a 24 year old neurodivergent trans dude from the US.

My mutuals might remember my main wip/special interest project The Magician and Ms. Psychic. It's about a young woman struggling to make a name for herself as a supervillain (wip intro here).

I have a few new side projects I'll probably introduce at some point, but 90% of the time auDHD brain has trouble focusing on anything but my dumbass gay supervillain wip.

I love tag games! I'm probably going to be a bit slow to respond to games while I'm easing back into being active here, but tag games are always a ton of fun!

I'm only now getting around to things but I'd love to hear more about "Traveling Bards" for the WIP List game. My head immediately goes to cozy adventure with that sort of name but I might be wrong so I'm very curious. :)

You're kind of right! Lol. I haven't formally introduced this one yet, but Traveling Bards is an adventure-comedy surrounding a trio of sisters, who die due to a cosmic administrative error. As compensation, they get sent to a pseudo-medieval fantasy world as (technically?) mages. After a series of shenanigans, they drop out of magic school, "kidnap" a young boy in need of escape, and travel the world playing music and getting into chaos. And running from the law, since their "kidnapping" of the prince is, well, treason.

I'd certainly hope it comes across as cozy! Though the sisters are certainly very chaotic. Since they still retain their memories of their previous life, it's pretty much impossible for them to even begin blending in, which leads to even more problems for them, lol.

This is definitely one of the ones that I dream of one day getting to see adapted into a comic and/or animated TV series! 😂Thanks for the ask!
