as much as seb would Love to own a brand new grand piano it just wouldnt ever feel right to him. all the ones he's ever owned himself have been old and creaky,,, in the brief period he was married to alana and they lived in a hugeass corpo apartment together, there was a beeauuutifulll grand piano there. and he LOVED it. but again it just didn't feel right,,, he can't look at them the same anymore without being blasted back into arasaka again in his brain,,, it was always Too cleanm and Too perfect,,, the one at the gang base is old. very creaky. kind of distorted sounding but it makes such a beautiful sound, to seb. it's very comforting to him and he would never EVER replace it for anything else

THIS ONE IN PARTICULAR IS JUST SOOOO. like imagine the debt collectors looking for mork at the garage like they usually do but they can't find him there anymore so they start following him and discover that he goes to this huge expensive house every day. maybe they think mork is cheating them out of money and decide to remind him how things work, so one day, after mork leaves, they go knock at the front door. in the house there are only day and night and thinking that mork must have forgotten something and came back for it, they open the door without even looking who is it. and like.. no one gets hurt, those debt collectors just went there to throw around some threats as a warning to mork (and i want day to be amazing through it all, standing proud in the middle of the room and talking back to those assholes without fear), but it's a big scare for night and no matter how much day begs him to not tell their mom what happened, he still does it, and things escalate from there

cue day's mom wanting mork out of her son's life, mork feeling incredibly guilty and scared because day could have gotten hurt which prompts him to leave thinking that's for the best, and day being forced back into isolation. BUT ALSO!!!!!! mork marching up to those debt collectors and punching them in the face because he's never been a violent man, never dared to fight back, but no one - NO ONE - thinks about hurting day and gets away with it. and that's when he knows he has to leave: that's the first time he has someone to protect, someone he loves and wants and needs so completely, and he can't stand the thought of losing day or day coming to hate him

thankfully day is gonna have none of that and get him back AND NOW IF YOU'LL EXCUSE ME IM GONNA GO SCREAM INTO MY PILLOW FOR THE REST OF THE NIGHT

I think the care for each other theme in Dracula is also evident in Jonathan's physical transformation. In every book and legend I've read, the person who has their hair turn white is because of a horrific thing that happened to them personally. Waiting for their execution, seeing a monster, going into a terrifying place. But Jonathan's hair didn't turn white when he spent months with horrifying vampires tortured, assaulted and driven mad. It happened when he heard Mina talk about how much she got hurt.

Oh that's an excellent observation! The novel de-centers the self in favor of the collective; a threat to one of them is a threat to all of them, everyone contributing as much as they can and feeling so strongly concerned for the other that an attack/threat to Mina can be considered either equivalent to a personal horrific event/attack, or seeing Mina threatened is a horrific personal event for Jonathan. Perhaps its some of both.

It's a small detail (I, in fact, read fast enough I didn't even realize his hair had turned white when that particular email was sent), but it shows just how thoroughly embedded the idea is in the story. You cannot read it and not think the characters are all deeply caring of one another because not only is it evident in their actions, what they choose to say and do, but in the things outside of their control as well, like Jonathan's hair changing.

It's a sentiment I deeply appreciate about the novel :)
