Look, just because you were wrong doesn't mean you should beat yourself over the head with it. Just because you were misinformed, or your information was old, doesn't mean you were stupid, or that you're a bad researcher, or that you were gullible, or whatever. I've been learning about this stuff for years, and it's honestly really easy to pick up incorrect information.
There is a reason why the way of the sage and the way of the scholar have always seemed to walk the same path at times- both run up against the same kind of obstacles, the same smoke and mirrors, and neither are strangers to false trails and dead ends.
I get it. It's infuriating...but, like, it's kinda the toll you pay. If you're serious about studying the occult, you just gotta get comfy with the idea of being wrong a lot.

John's Passion narrative has a never-ending fascination for me, because it's where you get Jesus at his most divine--knowing everything that was going to happen, making the guards fall to their faces when he speaks the name of God--while the people around him are at their most human.
There's an entire political drama going on. Pilate the Roman pagan getting dragged into this provincial Jewish religious dispute. These Jewish leaders and Jesus providing different visions of truth to a politician who doesn't care what the truth is. There's extremely sharp political back-and-forth between the Roman and the Jewish authorities--the Pharisees trying to force Pilate's hand by saying that everyone who makes himself a king opposes Caesar, then Pilate backing them into proclaiming Caesar as their king and twisting the knife of pettiness by labeling Jesus as the Jewish king in four different languages while He hangs on the cross.
Petty, personal, political human drama taking up all their attention.
And meanwhile, God is dying.

wait are you trying to tell me that grim hasn't just been floating midair for the entire game? i also just kinda assumed he could fly 🥺
I don't know if they've ever actually said either way? I assumed it was just a sprite thing, since he talks about not being able to reach things, stands on a pile of books for alchemy class, and things like that. but I've also seen a lot of people draw him as being able to float, so it's not an uncommon interpretation!

its kinda crazy that yall will apply real world politics and situations to gotham when it comes to jason and his ‘vigilantism’, but never choose to take that angle when analyzing any other bat character’s
brother eye from batman? hello? does constant nonconsensual surveillance seem like an ethical way to keep an eye on supposed allies or stop crime in real life? does beating people up until they comply with u (under fucking duress) seem like the ethical way to produce testimonies and confessions?
but nah, one speech from jason in utrd and yall are up in arms about how nothing he’s saying is actually conducive to lowering crime rates.
at the end of the day, it doesn’t fucking matter who’s right and who’s wrong regarding these morals in real life because the dc universe is so fucking far from reality in the crime that the justice system has to deal with. there is no point in arguing a reality standpoint if its not going to be applied to vigilantism in the bat comics as a whole.
and on the topic of fiction, the willful ignorance as to how jason’s story also portrays a victims revenge/justice is just boring at this point. how are themes in a narrative not coming through to you. especially when doing literature analysis for any of these comics.

it’s so funny going into monsterfucker spaces and seeing people argue about whether Venom is a tame monster crush or not and I think I figured out why ppl argue about it. I think there’s two separate levels to liking Venom and people just don’t specify which one they’re talking about
the first is what most people think of: you want Venom when they’re in a separate host and in their more humanoid form. they look like just a really tall guy, and you’ve got some monster traits involved but not quite as many as level two. this is the tame level.
the second level is when you want to be their host. you’re pulling an eddie brock— you’re fucking the slime that lives inside of you and cannot take on a humanoid form outside of yourself. it’s just a mass of black goop that lives in your organs and speaks to you in your head. this is why some people would consider Venom a more extreme monster crush

I’m absolutely OBSESSED with the concept of “Glamrock DJ Music Man”.
Not only can he give like, the BEST hugs ever, and kids likely wouldn’t be as scared of him, and he can DRAW, But there’s also so many ways that DJ being this shape would drastically change the flow of my AU!
If DJ looked like this? He would no longer be confined to the Arcade. He would have the freedom to roam where ever he wants to like the others do. So when DA starts acting weird and eventually disappears? Instead of just sitting there and hoping for the best.. DJ would just straight up leave the Arcade and go check on him. In which Sunny would be able to explain what was going on in the safety of the Daycare.
DJ would have access to so much more information as well! When Freddy and the gang started acting weird and disappeared, DJ would be able to actually go and talk to them. In which he would find out that something is wrong with all of them. DJ being unable to leave the Arcade has greatly limited everyone’s flow of information, considering the “bug” didn’t effect DJ the same way it did the others.. He could have witnessed everyone's slow decline into malfunction with clear eyes. And probably could have stopped it. He could have even told Freddy and the others about their weird behavior once they were fixed. But alas, in cannon he just simply cant leave the Arcade. And thus couldn’t help any of his friends in their time of need.🥺

New article with more details (from Jason Schreier who first broke the story). If you can't see it, I'll copy the whole text under read more.
About 100 employees were laid off in total (8%) and one of the main reasons listed is "underperformance," "sharp drop in popularity" and "poor reception of Lightfall."
So you know when for the last year and a half content creators have been shitting and pissing on the game as a full-time job and the amount of negativity and ragebait content became the only thing to make content about for them? Well they certainly won't take the blame, but I will let it be known. These people either don't understand the influence they have or they do and they're doing it on purpose, and I don't know which of these two options is worse, but I am 100% confident that their campaign of rage and hate contributed to this.
You don't base your entire community around constantly hating everything about the only game you play (despite clearly not enjoying it anymore) and somehow avoid galvanising thousands and thousands of people into perceiving the game negatively. Imagine being employees who have barely worked there for 2 years and the only community reception they've seen is 24/7 hate train for their work and then they get fired because of "poor reception" and "drop in popularity." How can they not take that personally? I am absolutely devastated for these people who delievered a banger product and who were met with an unrelenting barrage of toxic gamer children which ended up having more sway over their boss than them.
Which brings me to the next bit and that's FUCK THE CEO. He is now my mortal enemy #1. I am projecting psychic blasts directly into his brain. What an absolute spineless coward who is more willing to bow down to fucking gamers than to protect his own employees. This is absolutely rage inducing because this has happened before. From the article from 2021 about the toxic culture at Bungie:
Reading this shit from the new article absolutely fucking sent me into blind rage because I immediately remembered this. Another instance of employees suffering because of comments on reddit. And because of toxic players. And proof that leadership is not protecting employees and is instead siding with players.
Match made in heaven. Asshole gamer content creators and asshole CEOs, all of whom sit at home on piles of money made from someone else's labour. I hope they all explode. None of the people that worked on this game deserve this.
Another article with an infuriating comment from the CEO:
In an internal town hall meeting addressing a Monday round of layoffs that impacted multiple departments, Bungie CEO Pete Parsons allegedly told remaining employees that the company had kept “the right people” to continue work on Destiny 2.
"Kept the right people." Really. Veteran composers weren't the right people? Die!
Bloomberg article in full:
Bungie’s decision to cut an estimated 100 jobs from its staff of about 1,200 followed dire management warnings earlier this month of a sharp drop in the popularity of its flagship video game Destiny 2.
Just two weeks ago, executives at the Sony-owned game developer told employees that revenue was running 45% below projections for the year, according to people who attended the meeting.
Chief Executive Officer Pete Parsons pinned the big miss on weak player retention for Destiny 2, which has faced a poor reception since the release of its latest expansion, Lightfall.
The next expansion, The Final Shape, was getting good — not great feedback — and management told those present that they planned to push back the release to June 2024 from February, according the people, who asked not to be identified because they weren’t authorized to speak publicly. The additional time would give developers a chance to improve the product.
In the meantime, Parsons told staff Bungie would be cutting costs, such as for travel, as well as implementing salary and hiring freezes, the people said. Everyone would have to work together to weather the storm, he said, leaving employees feeling determined to do whatever was needed to get revenue back up.
But on Monday morning the news got worse: Dozens of staffers woke up to mysterious 15-minute meetings that had been placed on their calendars, which they soon learned were part of a mass layoff. Bungie laid off around 8% of its employees, according to documentation reviewed by Bloomberg. Bungie didn’t respond to requests for comment.
Employees who were let go will receive at least three months of severance and three months of Bungie-paid COBRA health insurance, although other benefits, such as expense reimbursements, ended Monday, sending some staff racing to submit their receipts.
Laid-off staffers will also receive prorated bonuses, although those who were on a vesting schedule following Sony Group Corp.’s acquisition of Bungie in January 2022 will lose any shares that weren’t vested as of next month.
The layoffs are part of a larger money-saving initiative at Sony’s PlayStation unit, which has also cut employees at studios such as Naughty Dog, Media Molecule and its San Mateo office.
TD Cowen analyst Doug Creutz wrote in a report Monday that “events over the last few days lead us to believe that PlayStation is undergoing a restructuring.”
PlayStation president Jim Ryan announced last month that he plans to resign.
Many of the layoffs at Bungie affected the company’s support departments, such as community management and publishing. Remaining Bungie staff were informed that some of those areas will be outsourced moving forward.

i unironically love the Rat Grinders so much and its so funny to me that everyone on tumblr has jumped onto hating them so vehemently; these kids are transmigration light novel protagonists and it's hilarious. they reached level 100 killing nothing but slimes etc etc
that crap is some of the most soul crushing work imaginable. i will forcequit any video game the moment it's clear that grinding is the only way to advance because i hate it so much. they're not having fun. they're not enjoying the work. they got stuck with a DM who thinks XP leveling is worthwhile and they're slogging through it in the most tedious and boring way possible. they're 'powergaming' in only the most loose definition of the term. they're having the worst high school experience of anyone. they've traumabonded over spending 33 hours a week in abject misery and have now turned feral
