WIP WEDNESDAY! it's thursday SHUT UP!
Tumblr media
“In every other universe, Marinette falls in love with Viperion,” she mumbles, and she’s so pretty, and so gorgeous, that he can’t exactly swallow it. With the city turning into a tapestry of pinks and purples, rolling clouds coming from the east, there’s almost a haze to her. A glow. The very edges of her black hair are colored in soft, diluted pinks— her claws, long against her propped-up knee, glint the same color as the rising sun.
She doesn’t move away when he scoots closer, legs and boots hanging over the ledge of the roof and joining hers, just close enough for him to play with the end of her ridiculously long braid. Instead, all she does is watch as he reties the ribbon at the end, green eyes looking up at him on the cusp of a smile, that symmetrical mouth soft and gentle.
God, he wants to kiss her.
God, he… he can’t help it.
He does.
Leaning forward, pressing into her with a gentle touch of their lips, her skin is so cool against his. Her lips are as soft as he imagined, melting into the chaste kiss that lasts for an absolute forever yet only a moment. When he pulls away, it’s because he’s smart enough not to stay and take more than what they’re willing to lose in this moment.
With what seems to be like a grounding breath, she touches a pinky to his. It’s not the first and won’t be the last time he wishes he could actually feel her on the other side of the hexleather, but he can’t voice it because she continues with: “And in every other universe, it doesn’t end well.”
He knows what she means. He gets it. She looks almost shell-shocked at whatever it was that happened in her universe she’d all but fled from, tackling him through the Bunnyx portal— he won’t ask, because he knows better, because intuition is laced into his breath and blood the way that his snakes are laced into his powers. With every breath, the motifs follow; he’s caught her so many times watching them disappear and fade back into view with long, pausing breaths. She looks at them longingly. Like she’s desperate to trace them with her claws, before sinking into a hug that will never let them part.
But that grief of hers is so, so palatable. It’s the curse of the black cat, where feelings and emotions are so much more, that it expresses itself physically. She’s a dangerous Akuma for a reason, which is why she’s on the priority list. Across universes, no one wants her to go ballistic. She’s the trigger point, the event horizon, the everything and nothing at all. A Marinette Akumatized is…
A nightmare, really.
“Well, there’s a first time for everything, right?” he whispers back.
Lady Noire grins hard enough to warp the edges of her domino mask, kissing him again and again and again.

There's this one comic I think about constantly where the class is reading Romeo and Juliet and Adrien is reading Romeo and Chloé is reading Juliet, but Adrien says, "It is the east and Marinette is the sun" on accident and everyone flips their shit
Would love to find it again some day

Light Skies
Light Skies by appamarshmallow
Ladybug tried to focus on the sound of the bustling traffic or the squawking of birds flying east. Not the sound of her heart beating out of rhythm, and not on the orange sunset hitting the sharp planes of his face as he talked animatedly about something. But her mind all but went blank when he was sitting closer, and his arm would brush against her shoulder. And when she stared at the way his eyes would glitter in the setting sun, and how his face would crinkle at something he said that he thought was funny, she returned her own soft smile. She would be fine, Marinette assured herself.
Then Chat sent her another lopsided grin, the one she liked where one of his fangs playfully showed. One that sent her stomach tumbling down a rollercoaster, and she found herself falling for something she didn't realize she was falling for.
Yeah... she would be fine, right?

East of the Beauty, West of the Beast
Tumblr media
original meme belongs to Blaze-On-Fire. Characters belong to Thomas Atrustic. Here we go! "Beauty and the Beast" recasted with "Miraculous" characters! I've also added elements from the remake and story "East o' the Sun, and West o' the Moon" (hence the title) We have... Ladybug (Marinette) as Belle. She's everyone's go-to problem solver, often referred to as a "Living Lucky Charm". Chat Blanc (Adrien) as the Beast. This version focuses more on the characters' beastly behavior instead of his beastly appearance. Chloe as Gaston. She loves Marinette because she's cute and a good seamstress. I showed her in her "Queen Banana" outfit because that's my favorite outfit of hers. Grandpa Rolland as Maurice. Instead of a wacky, lovable inventor, we have a grumpy, lovable baker. Rose (Princess Fragrance) as Lumiere and Juleka (Reflekta) as Plumette. They're maids who were turned into dolls. Natalee (Mayura) as Cogsworth. She's the castles' major domo and a sorcerous. Nadja Charmak (Prime Queen) as Mrs. Potts. She's a knight who was fused with her armor. Manon Charmak (Puppeteer) as Chip Potts. The curse shrunk her and fused her with her fairy costume. Sabrina as Le Fou. She's in love with Chloe but is too scared to admit it. Lila Rossi as the Enchantress. She's the main antagonist in this story.   I'm also including Nino (The Bubbler) as Cadenza and Alya (Lady Wifi) as Madame Garderobe. They were Natalees' apprentices. The curse fused them with spells they tried to use. Nino can only summon bubbles and shields and Alya can only travel through mirrors, which she's trapped in. Also starring Gorzila as the coatrack and Gabriel as the librarian. (he's secretly scoping out potential brides for his son)   The story is this:   In a world filled with magic and sorcery, one sorcerer named Gabriel Agreste lived with his wife and son in a shining castle. But when his wife Emily died, he became broody and withdrawn, while his 13-year old son Adrien kept bottling up his feelings in an attempt to be a good prince. After a year of mourning, the castle hosts a costume party, where Adrien dresses like a black cat and all the castle staff dress like fairies and toys. In walks a mysterious woman who claims she can bring Emily back to life if Adrien marries her. Gabriel agrees, but Adrien, disgusted at the idea, uncorks his frustrations and angerly turns down the offer, unleashing a tirade that shocks the whole party. The woman -Lila- retaliates by ripping out his humanity, turning him feral and catlike. She then curses the entire castle and tells Gabriel that if he can't find Adrien another bride in 4 years, she'll hold him to his promise to her. Four years later, the castle has been hidden and no-one remembers it. Marinette is a tailors' apprentice living with her grandfather, helping out everyone who asks, and dodging Chloes' crazy flirtations. But her quiet life is shattered by an onslaught of aphids that threaten the towns' farms. Enter, the mysterious Hawk Moth, who says his akumas can wipe out the infestation, if one of the town maidens agrees to be a companion to his son. Marinette agrees, (over the objections of her friends and family) and takes along her mothers' red wedding robe, decorated with black peonies. Hawk Moth spirits her away to his castle, where she meets talking dolls, a girl trapped in a mirror, and a strange wild boy dressed all in white. Even more shocking, instead of her helping everyone out, everyone seems laser focused on helping her out. Each day, she explores the castle and bonds a little more with Adrien and the staff. And each night, she dreams about a handsome blond boy calling out to her, getting closer every time. Meanwhile, Lila goes to the village claiming that they were tricked and Marinette was kidnapped. She rallies them to storm the castle and in the ensuing fight, Chat Blanc is burnt by a broken candle. Lila reveals herself, and takes him back to her home. The battle comes to an abrupt stop. Hawk Moth reveals himself as Gabriel and reveals he set everything up to get Marinette and his son together. Marinette is angry, but she understands. She points out that since the four years aren't officially up, they still have time to save Adrien. She dons her mothers' robe and packs a supply of provisions (including a yo-yo she found while exploring). Some of the villagers and staff members go with her. Along the way: Nino and Alya overcome their curses and discover new spells. Sabrina confesses her feelings to Chloe, who realizes what a fool she's been, and Natalee reveals that the boy from Marinettes' dreams is Adriens' true self, and that dream communication is a sign that they're soulmates. They travel all the way to Lilas' manor on the Northern coast. There, The team frees Chat Blac while Lila and Marinette square off. Lila tried to scare her with illusions, but Marinette ends up tripping Lila with her yo-yo. She and Chat have a beautiful reunion, and with a kiss, the curse is lifted. Adrien regains his humanity, and the first thing he says is that Marinette doesn't have to marry him if she doesn't want to. Marinette says she's happy to get to know him all over again. As for Gabriel... he retires from magic, and finds new love in Natalees' arms. IMAGE DETAILS

Hanging in the Stars
Soooo...I’m back at the Felinette again cause as we’ve established before I have no self control. Also @emzurl‘s art sparks a need to expand with fanfiction because I have fallen down the Felinette rabbit hole and I ain’t coming out!
Based off of this and this and this. I already wrote one based on one of these but I’m bringing it all together now!
War has broken out between Felix and Marinette. The only way to peace is through invasion of personal space.
---
It was Romeo and Juliet. Those that didn’t even read the play knew the Shakespearean tragedy.
Miss Bustier’s class had finished reading it and she opened the discussion for what her students thought an accurate interpretation of the play was. Little did anyone know the storm this question would unleash.
Marinette had raised her hand and gave her piece about how she thought it was a beautiful tragedy about a poisonous hatred conquered by love. Most of the class nodded along.
Then from the back of the classroom was a deep groan. Marinette went ramrod straight as she turned around to glare at the opposed.
“Felix, you have a different interpretation?” Miss Bustier asked.
“Yes.” He met Marinette’s glare, “To brand this tale a beautiful tragedy is to scrape the mere surface. When in actuality it is better suited as a cautionary tale about the stupidity of youth and trappings of shallow lust.”
“Thank you, Felix.” Miss Bustier nodded, “That was an interesting interpretation. Did anyone else have any ideas?”
“How can you say it is about the stupidity of youth?” Marinette countered, “The shallow lust you claim was actually real love. It only seemed rushed because it had to be introduced quickly to fit the run time of the play.”
“I am not surprised a hopeless romantic such as yourself would choose to believe in the delusion of love at first sight.” Felix rolled his eyes, “What Romeo and Juliet are experiencing is physical attraction that was further exacerbated by a juvenile sense of teenage rebellion brought on by their ancestor’s feud.”
“And I am not in the least surprised that a cynic such as yourself would take such a stance.” Marinette shot back, “Yes their feelings come on quickly but in the context of this story love at first sight does exist. It was a destiny written in the stars that they should love and their love should end in tragedy. Throughout the entire play there are references to the theme of the universe. They know the force that brought them together will inevitably drive them apart but still they beg the cosmos to let them be.”
“Or is it that destiny does not exist. There is no grand plan or greater meaning to the lives of others. We simply float through life experiencing hardships and pleasures. These two idiots were as made for each other as a fast food commercial saying that burgers and fries are a perfect pairing.” Felix stood out of his seat.
“I refuse to believe that everything is left to chance. There are some things in this world that are meant to be and Shakespeare understood that.” Marinette was out of her chair as well. “A feud started long ago that is buried with love. What better metaphor is there for destiny and tragedy and the delicate nature of life and love?”
“I can think of one.” Alya said with a knowing smile.
“Okay kids!” Miss Bustier called out. “I think that is enough for today. We will pick up on this tomorrow.”
The class cooled down from the debate. Marinette was seething but turned away to gather her things. Why was she getting so worked up about Felix’s opinion on a play anyway? That wasn’t like her. But to hear such a pessimistic outlook on one of the greatest love stories ever written had triggered her in a way. Should she have really thought more from the pessimist himself?
“Girl,” Alya slid closer to Marinette, “Things got a tad heated there. Any particular reason?”
“Felix just rubs me the wrong way. The pompous, cold hearted, little cynic that he is.” Marinette swung her bag onto her shoulders.
“Pompous? Yes. Cold hearted? Also yes.” Felix strode past their desk, “But I am a realist, Dupain-Cheng. Not a cynic. Get your facts right.”
“You arrogant son of a--”
“Whoa girl. Calm down.” Alya held her back. “Don’t let him get to you.”
---
Felix couldn’t deny that he didn’t enjoy some good conflict. He lived for debates. And debating with Dupain-Cheng had been interesting to say the least. She had already proved herself a spigot of emotion and thus her views and arguments were strongly driven by her own conviction.
As much as she tried to remain good natured and level headed there was an unquenchable fire within her. And Felix relished nothing more than fanning the flames when given the chance. Maybe it was the fact that she was one of the few genuinely intelligent people in his class. Maybe it was the fact that she was conniving under her fluffy persona. But Dupain-Cheng had a grace and composure that burned bright and made her tower high with confidence. It was...fascinating.
Not that he would ever admit such a thing. He knew exactly how she would respond if she ever found out Felix had been riling her up to glimpse the unwavering girl he quietly admired. Was his avoidance at her reaction born from shame or fear? Perhaps both.
The days went by and the debates he held with Dupain-Cheng grew. His pleasure hidden by an impassive mask he crafted over many years.
It wasn’t until she started ignoring him altogether did his behavior seem to catch up to him. In his head their debates and jabs had all been in good fun. A game of teasing or whatnot. But now she wouldn’t respond. The fire he loved to see had smouldered. She looked tired. Even when he targeted her directly she wouldn’t so much as meet his gaze. The most he could get out of her was a sharp word or a harsh glance.
Had he gone too far?
“Dupain-Cheng.” He walked up to her before class. “I need to talk to you.”
“I don’t feel like getting into another argument with you, Felix.” She continued to rifle through her locker. Her back to turned to him as she spoke.
“I’m not here to argue with you.”
“That’d be a first.” She muttered.
He reached past her and closed the locker. He kept his arm against the locker effectively pinning her in place so she couldn’t easily run off. “I mean it. There is something I need to tell you.”
She turned slowly so that she was facing him and it was at this point he realized exactly how close he had gotten. Her face was barely a breath away staring up at him. A mad blush rising hot up her neck as she clung tightly to her books.
“What do you want?” She asked.
“I...” Felix couldn’t remember. The speech he had carefully prepared and worded had erased itself from his memory. What is it he had wanted to say!
“Marinette, can I copy your homework? I completely forgot to finish that worksheet from chemistry last night.” Alya came around the corner and saw her best friend pinned against her locker by Felix. “Or should I give you two a minute to sort this out?”
“Alya!” Marinette slid out from Felix and joined her friend. “Good morning! What was this about your homework?”
Felix was still frozen in place by the lockers. What was that! He’s better than this! He’s more composed than this! A pair of bluebell eyes will not unhinge him again.
Not to worry. They had a free period today. Marinette had a habit of using that period to study by herself so he would get to her then. He just needed to keep a level head and not get distracted like he did this morning.
Free period came and everyone trickled out of the classroom. Marinette stayed seated. Now was his chance.
“Dupain-Cheng,” He stopped at the desk next to her. “Got a minute?”
“No.” She pulled out her textbook. “Can you leave? I’m trying to study.”
“And I will leave you to it in a moment. I need a quick word with you. That’s all.”
“No offense, Felix, but I really don’t care about what it is you have to say to me.” She stood up, “And since you won’t leave I guess I’ll have to.”
“Dupain-Cheng, wait.” He called out to her.
She stopped and turned back to look at him. “What?”
“Come here.” he gestured.
“Why should I?” she raised her chin defiantly.
“Fine then.” He crossed over to her. “I’ll just come to you.”
“Okay, you’re here. Now what?” She muttered. Her eyes still met his own but it was a struggle to do so. The warm glow on her cheeks didn’t escape his notice either.
His face was blank but his heart beat painfully loud in his chest. Say something. Say anything! You got her here and you probed this close into her personal space already you need to say something!
“Now I’m going to...” He pushed even closer. The subtle pink of her face exploding into a hot red as he inclined nearer.
Where was he going with this? This wasn’t the plan! Swerve, Felix! Swerve!
“Remove this from your hair.” He pulled a leaf that had been caught in her hair.
He turned towards the garbage can to throw it away. “You really must be more attentive miss Dupain-Cheng. Appearance is everything.”
She made a loud angry growling sort of noise before stomping out the door. Felix stared at the leaf in his hand with a growing sense of dread. What was wrong with him? Two times he lost his sense of direction trying to talk to her. Why was he getting so close to her in the first place? Before he was trying to keep her in place so she had to listen to him. But here she was already listening.
Whatever. This was stupid. Dupain-Cheng would be back to her usual spitfire self in no time. It wasn’t his fault.
He left to go clear his head in the library. There was a secluded spot away from the usual noise he loved to sit and study in. On his way he passed by Dupain-Cheng who glared at him. Her face still bright red from their earlier encounter.
He couldn’t help the smirk that crept onto his face as he walked past her. He settled down in his corner and pulled out the travel copy of Romeo and Juliet he had been reading. He had an essay to write and needed to find which quotes he wanted to include.
Romeo: Is love a tender thing? it is too rough, too rude, too boisterous; and it pricks like thorn.
Mercutio: If love be rough with you, be rough with love; Prick love for pricking, and you beat love down.--
“HEY!”
The shout pulled Felix from his work. He gazed up just in time to see Dupain-Cheng descend upon him in a fury. Slamming her hand against the wall next to him trapping him in place much like he had done her this morning.
She was so small though. It would be only too easy to move her and escape to somewhere more secluded but her unwavering gaze kept him in place.
“Do you like it when I invade your personal space uninvited?” She snarled at him, “Huh, smart guy?”
“I do.” The words leapt past his lips without thought.
His eyes grew wide as he searched for something else to say. What was wrong with him? Before he couldn’t get out two words to her and now the two words he chose were damning to his unforeseen intentions. Why was he acting like this?
She backed away from him. Her face a mask of embarrassment and regret. Felix’s own visage was no better. His indifference peeled away to reveal his own embarrassment and excitement from the event.
“I’m--I’m sorry,” she stammered. Her mortification hidden behind her hands. “I don’t know what came over me. I just wanted to make you as uncomfortable as you made me.”
“I uh,” Felix cleared his throat, “I see.”
He took a deep breath to compose himself and set his book down. He inched a step closer towards her. He wouldn’t get up close again. His mind would surely short circuit once more.
“It was never my intention to make you uncomfortable. I only wished you to listen and I feared any other way you may have walked away.” He told her.
“What is it you have to say that I need to listen to?” she kept her eyes locked on the ground. “I already said once I don’t want to argue with you anymore, Felix.”
“I like it when you argue with me.” He answered truthfully. “Debating with you is some of the most and only fun I have in this school.”
“Why though? Why me?”
“Do you really believe that anyone else can hold such intelligent passion?” He asked. She met his eyes once again and he sighed. “You are clever and you have conviction. It is a rare treat to see you bring both to the surface in such an entertaining way. I suppose that it was greedy of me to probe you for my own amusement. You were such an optimist I didn’t think your well of patience and drive could run dry.”
“You constantly got into arguments with me because you wanted to see me get mad?” Her eyebrows knit together.
“The situation is more nuanced than that but to be black and white about it, yes. I guess I was making you angry for my pleasure.”
“That is rather selfish.” her gaze hardened, “Did you not once think of how it made me feel? Having to constantly battle your arrogant opinions? It was all rather exhausting.”
“You left me rather winded after a row as well.” Felix smirked. He crept another step closer. She watched him wearily but didn’t make a move to distance herself. “As firm as I believe it was hard to not get sucked into your point of view. You speak so passionately to stand against you is a chore in and of itself. One I both loathe and look forward to.”
“You are a real piece of work. You know that?”
“A masterpiece?” he quipped with a teasing smile.
She made a small snorting sound that struck Felix to the bone. She was laughing. Genuinely laughing because of him.
“If you say so.” She fiddled with the hem of her shirt.
“From now on I’ll leave our debates strictly in the classroom. Agreed?” He held out a hand to her.
“Agreed.” She took his hand firmly and shook.
A bit of daring flooded his system and he pulled her forward bringing her hand up to his face and left a chaste kiss upon it. Her face was flushed that mad red again. “I look forward to our next bout, Dupain-Cheng.”

Stars
Only day of Jasonette July I’m doing
It was a clear night, well as clear as a night could be in Gotham.  Only a few stars were able to peek out from the grime and gloom of the city, and what a shame that this night was being wasted.  Marinette took another swig from her bottle of wine as she waited on the curb for her ride to show up.  It had been a crappy past couple of days, and while she knew what she was doing, even in her intoxicated state, was stupid, she just could not bring herself to care.  The roar of a motor and soon after the kill of the engine sounded to her left.  She didn’t even glance at the person who had dismounted said bike as she already knew who it was.
“Pix, what the h*?!  It’s like 4 O’clock in the morning!”
Marientte simply took another swing of the bottle disappointed when there was only a little bit left and now completely gone.  She could feel Jason’s gaze boring into her and slowly she tilted her head to face him.  She hadn’t noticed before how nicely the lights would reflect in his turquoise eyes.  It reminded her of the stars in the sky, the ones that she was never allowed to see due to the city lights even while she was in Paris.  Jason’s eyes were so different from his.  Marinette attempted to take another swig from the bottle at the mere memory of the past few days' events but frowned when nothing came out. Jason let out a small sigh as he crouched down and carefully took the bottle out of her grip.
“What’s wrong Marinette?”
Jason asked, concern lacing his tone.  He had seen her on bad days, but he had never seen her get this bad.  Marinette shook her head, lowering it into her palms.  Goodness she was a mess.
“Look, you woke me up before the sun came up, and this ride ain’t free.  Your fair is why your currently intoxicated on the curb near East End of all places.”
Marinette shook her head again, trying to get the image out of her head.  He had found her.  She had tried so hard to get away from it all, it had been three years now since she left and there wasn’t a hint anyone had gotten a whiff of her.  Now they know, he knows.  He found her and everything she did and built up is OVER!
“Marinette you need to breathe!  Come on Pix, I’ve got you.  Shhhh, hey, it’ll be alright.”
Marientte could hear the steady Ba-dump ba-dump of a heart against her ear and began to subconsciously match her breathing to the sound as the feeling of a warm jacket around her shoulders began to pull her back to reality.
“Hey, it’s okay Pix.  You’re doing so good.  Just keep breathing, I’ve got you.”
Marinette let herself fully slump against the older man, soul deep exhaustion pulling heavily against her body.  There was the sound of a bottle being kicked and Marinette quickly sat up, high alert.  Only reason she didn’t hit Jason’s face being that he had an extremely fast reaction time.  Marinette searched for dark green slitted eyes in all of the shadows that surrounded the two.  He had already seen her, recognized her, he had left flowers on her-no, she wasn’t going to think about that now.  She couldn’t, but what if he was watching her even now?!  Jason looked around in the dark, his guard high, but there was nothing.  When she looked up to check the roofs and saw nothing she looked back at the sky, the smog was covering the sky again, there was nothing to look at anymore.
“Hey, why don’t we take you home?”
Marinette flinched at that.  She couldn’t go back to her apartment, he could be waiting for her.  Memories of what had happened in Paris flashed through her eyes and she began to shake.  Not again, not again, not again!
“It’s okay, we don’t have to.  You can come stay at mine.  There should still be some of your clothes there from your last visit, and I don’t mind lending you some if you need it.”
That sounded good.  Jason had always protected her before.  He had never done or forced her to do anything she wasn’t comfortable with.  He was here after all.  She was drunk off her a* and he hadn’t made a single move on her.  He would have.
“I don’t want to go back.”
Was all she muttered as she burrowed further against Jason’s chest.  Going back meant she would be–that something bad would happen.
“Alright, I’ll take you back to my apartment.  Everything will be okay.”
And with that Jason carefully stood up letting Marinette wrap her legs around his waist as he walked the short distance back to his bike.
“Can you hold onto the handle bars?”
Marinette gave a small nod and let him help her onto the bike before he sat right behind her.  Marinette gripped the handle bars, relishing in how safe she felt as Jason’s arms nearly encircled her as he too grabbed the handle bars.  She leaned back against his chest slightly and stared at his face as they drove at high speeds through Gotham back to Jason’s personal apartment.  As she gazed at him she watched at the city lights continuously reflected in his eyes creating new universes with every corner taken.  She was so mesmerized by his star-like eyes she hadn’t even realized that they had come to a stop.
“You doin’ okay Pix?  Your cheeks seem a little pinker than usual.”
Marinette shook her head slightly to rid her mind of all of her stupid thoughts, but it was a bad idea as it simply made her world more dizzy which made her blush even more out of embarrassment.  She let Jason escort her up the flights of stairs and let herself finally relax once they entered the modest flat.  She was safe for now, at least that’s what she wanted to believe.  For now, she would relish this starry night and the gentleness Jason showed only her as he made sure that she was comfortable while she recovered from her …outing.  Slowly she shut her eyes as the feeling of a warm blanket surrounded her and leaned into the gentle kiss placed upon her temple.
“I’ll wait till ready Mare.  Just remember that I’ll always be there for you.”
Marinette smiled at the words and let herself fall into a gentle slumber where she dreamed of a turquoise galaxy with orbs of bright light surrounding it.

Hey, I just wanted to say that all of your redesigns are absolutely amazing!
You put so much passion and love into your art and I love how you convey character and story through the designs.
But I wanted to ask about Kagami’s redesign, more specifically her hero costume’s color pallet.
In canon, we’ve got three female Asian superheroes, Marinette as Ladybug, Kagami and Ryuko, and Fei Wu as Ladydragon, and all of them wear red as the primary color in their superhero costumes.
While red dragons do exist in East Asian mythology and folklore, they’re more often associated with the sun, like Zhulong, or are consider symbols of good luck and prosperity, which is supposed to be Ladybug’s shtick. The Dragon Miraculous has weather based powers, and Asian dragons associated the weather, like Shenlong, are traditionally depicted as blue, green, or azure.
Just something to keep in mind if you ever consider redoing some of your redesign or get to redesigning Fei Wu.
Hi hello yes!
First of all thank you so much!!! You're so sweet and I'm so glad you enjoy my redesigns!
And yes that is an excellent point! I think it's really really lame how all the Asian superheroes are in red and/or dragon themed. I'm honestly shocked Sabine hasn't become "Mother Dragon" or something yet.
I do plan on working Fei Wu and the Prestigious (or whatever it's called) into my redesigned au. And I have plans to radically change the power and animal association, and the colours. I won't say too much for now because I'm actually not 100% certain of any details and don't want to confirm something that's liable to change.
A blue green or azure dragon sounds so gorgeous and it would be a shame to let that go to waste.
I decided that animal breeds vary depending on the wearer in this au. Ex the dog breed changes to reflect the wearer's personality. And this will extend to colours. So when I eventually do Dragonbug, she's also going to have some very different colours from red.
Ryuko is on a list called "Re-redesigns that are subject to change in the future" (tm), if I ever do rework her I'll keep your advice in mind!
Thanks again!

MayBee Day 1
Chapter 1: Hope (AU)
 Hope.
That was all she had left.
The hope that she would gain the approval and love of her mother.
The hope that her father would realize that love truly could not be bought.
The hope that Sabrina would grow a backbone and be the friend she needed.
The hope that Adrien would realize how much he meant to her.
The hope that she could one day be as effortlessly popular and liked as Marinette.
The hope that Lila would be exposed as the fraud she was.
The hope that Ladybug would entrust her with Pollen once more.
The hope that she could be the superhero she knew she could be.
The hope that Hawkmoth would go down in flames.
It was these hopes that helped her through the long and lonely nights.  It was these hopes that allowed her to get up in the mornings and face the day.  And as she stood here on her balcony, looking over the city of Paris as the sun rose in the east, she could feel that it was time to finally make one of her hopes come true.  Raising her right fist to the sky, she smiled as the sunlight glinted off her new ring and spoke the words that she knew would change her life forever.
In fearful day, in raging night
With strong hearts full, our souls ignite
When all seems lost in the War of Light
Look to the stars, for Hope burns bright!

For Maribat March Day 31 - Reunion
The school trip to Gotham was supposed to be fun. It was supposed to be a reward to the class, a celebration of the recent defeat of Hawkmoth by Ladybug and Chat Noir. Marinette wanted to celebrate. She really didn't want to cry on the trip. Yet, as the plane touched down in Gotham, Marinette was staring out the plane window at the rain and the setting sun, rubbing her eyes, trying her best to brush away the tears before they formed.
"Are you okay, Marinette?" Alya looked over at Marinette, concern visible on her face.
Marinette nodded weakly, blinking away the wetness in her eyes. "I'm fine. I just... I have some bad memories associated with Gotham. One of my childhood friends... his parents were murdered on a trip to Gotham and I lost contact with him after that. It's always been a very raw subject for me."
Alya opened her mouth to respond, but before she could get a word out, Lila leaned across the aisle to interrupt the conversation. "Your childhood friend's parents were murdered on a trip to Gotham? It's okay to admit that you're scared of Gotham because of the supervillains. You don't have to come up with some outlandish story for why you're upset."
Marinette glared over at Lila, her eyes shiny from both her tears and her anger. "I wasn't talking to you, Lila, but for your information, I'm not making up a story. I wouldn't lie about the death of my friend's parents. I hate liars."
Lila flinched back, her eyes wide and innocent. "I'm sorry, Marinette. I just wanted to make sure that you knew that you could tell the truth. We wouldn't judge you for it."
Alya frowned, giving Lila a stern look. "Lila, Marinette is seriously upset. I don't think that this is the right time to lecture her."
"Oh, of course." As soon as Alya turned away from her, Lila's expression was murderous. Marinette could care less. She turned away and ignored Lila, not in the mood to deal with the liar's taunts. If she could just hold back her tears until they got off the plane, maybe she could pretend that it was the rain that was making her face wet.
It took an hour to get from the plane to the hotel room, and that hour was torture for Marinette, who spent the entire journey holding back tears. As soon as Alya shut the door to their hotel room with a click, Marinette finally let herself cry, curling up into a ball on the hotel bed.
Marinette felt Alya wrapped her arms around her in a hug. "I've got you, Marinette. It'll be okay."
Marinette didn't know how long she cried for. All she knew was that when the tears finally stopped, the sky had gone dark outside. "What time is it?"
"It's a little past eight. I texted Nino to tell Ms. Bustier that you weren't feeling well, so she won't be bothering you with any class president duties tonight."
"Thanks." Marinette shifted herself from lying on her side to sitting up. "Have I ever told you what happened to Dick?"
Alya shook her head. "You've mentioned him a few times, but only that you two were friends when you were younger, and then lost touch."
Marinette sighed. "It all started when I was nine years old. My Grandma Gina was babysitting me for the weekend. She was old friends with the ringmaster of a circus that was in Paris, so she took me there to stay the weekend. That was where I met Dick and his parents..."
Marinette told the story in bursts, stopping to cry every few minutes when she got too emotional to continue. "...And I never spoke to him again after that. Gotham's foster care records aren't open to the public, and I stopped myself from Googling his name a long time ago. It just hurts too much to get my hopes up."
Alya wrapped Marinette up in another hug. "I'm sorry, Marinette. I wish there was something I could do to make this better."
"I think this trip might be good for me. It hurts a lot now, but I think once it's over I might finally feel a little more at peace."
"I hope so. But if there's ever any time where you need to just stop and let it all out, I'll be there for you."
"Thanks, Alya. You're the best."
Alya was Marinette's best friend, even if Alya was friends with Lila as well. That was Marinette's one regret - when she unmasked Hawkmoth and Mayura as Gabriel Agreste and Nathalie Sancour, there was no way to unmask Lila as a liar as well. Gabriel refused to name Lila as an accomplice, aware that admitting to having manipulated a teen girl into performing acts of terrorism wouldn't look good for him. So Lila was free to continue her reign of terror, though at least now Marinette could be rightfully angry with her, without fear of being akumatized.
----------
The class trip was partially sponsored by the Wayne Scholarship Foundation. Usually, the Wayne Scholarship Foundation only awarded scholarships, given to students all across America to pay for college, but after Hawkmoth's defeat and the media coverage that followed, a rather large sum was awarded to Marinette’s class for their bravery on the front lines of Hawkmoths' attacks. The Wayne Foundation organized tours and shows for them all over the city, starting with a tour of the Martha Wayne Memorial Botanical Gardens bright and early on the first morning of their trip. Then the class would go on a walking tour of Gotham during the afternoon, ending at a high-end sushi restaurant for dinner, followed by a night exploring East Hills Park during one of their famous firework shows. The late May day promised to be warm and sunny, so Marinette put on her favorite red floral sundress with a jean jacket overtop to hide the thin spaghetti straps, and sturdy tennis shoes to handle all of the walking she would be doing.
"Marinette!" gasped Lila as soon as Alya and Marinette walked into the main lobby. "Are you sure that your outfit is dress-code approved?"
Marinette rolled her eyes. "Yes, Lila. With my jacket on, this fits the dress code. I wouldn't make something that I can't wear."
"Okay. I was just checking. Your dress seemed a little too short to me, but I guess I just prefer something more modest."
As Lila walked away, Alya placed her hand on Marinette's shoulder in comfort. "I'm sure Lila didn't mean to come off as slut-shaming. I think she's just lashing out because wants to make sure you don't get in trouble for your outfit." Even Alya sounded uncertain of her explanation, as not even she believed herself. Without the support of Hawkmoth, Lila was no longer a cunning and calculated mastermind of manipulation. Now she was just a scared bully, desperately doing whatever she could to maintain her power over the class.
"Whatever," Marinette sighed. "I won't let her ruin my trip."
"That's the spirit. Besides, anyone with taste would know that your outfit looks super cute.”
Marinette smirked. "Are you saying that you don't think Lila has taste?"
"Definitely not as much taste as you. You're the Queen of Fashion Trends. You always look good." Alya put her arm around Marinette's shoulder. "Plus, you know better than to wear cowboy boots to school."
Marinette giggled as she remembered the incident. Lila came to school showing off her 'authentic' cowboy boots from America, seemingly unaware that they were the ugliest shoes anyone in their class had ever seen.
"You'll have a great day today, I promise." Alya walked with Marinette to the bus waiting outside. They got a seat up near the front, by Nino and Adrien.
Adrien had been the most affected by Hawkmoth's unmasking, given that it revealed his Father as a terrorist and his Mother as a coma-patient. All seemed lost for Adrien, as a team of Paris's best doctors revealed that Emilie Agreste was braid-dead. They planned on pulling the plug on Emilie's life support until, Amelie Graham de Vanily revealed that by combining the twin rings she and her sister owned with Ladybug's power of creation, together they had the power to bring Emilie back to life. Marinette was skeptical, after all, Amelie seemed to have ulterior motives in everything she did, but how could Marinette refuse when it was the only thing that she could do to help Adrien. In the end, she decided to help, no matter the consequences. Miraculously, it worked. Emilie was brought back to life and Adrien had a mother again.
However, in the aftermath of her decision, Marinette realized one crucial detail. In all of the chaos of deciding whether or not to work with Amelie, when she based her final decision on Adrien, she did it because he was her friend, not because he was her crush. At that moment, she realized that the overwhelming crush she had on Adrien since the age of thirteen had faded. In its place was a beautiful friendship.
"Good morning," chirped Adrien.
"What's up, dudes?" chimed in Nino.
"I can't believe we're here in Gotham. I thought our class trip to London was cool, but this is just incredible. I can't believe that the Wayne Foundation organized all of this for us," Alya gushed.
Marinette smiled. She knew that her friends deserved the vacation. Alya, Nino, and Adrien (though his involvement as Aspik was brief) all helped in the fight against Hawkmoth, even though they never revealed their superhero identities to each other. "What are you all most excited about?"
"I can't wait to see the Superhero Museum," said Alya. "I can't believe we were invited to the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the new exhibition."
"It is a celebration of the defeat of Hawkmoth. I suppose they wanted some real Parisians there to see it."
"I'm excited for Super: an American Musical, with the original cast. Did you guys know that this is their last week in Gotham before the show starts on Broadway!" Nino cheered.
Marinette smiled. "That is cool. I've heard that it's a fan favorite to win a Tony this year."
When all eyes landed on Adrien to answer the question, he shrugged. "I just want to experience everything. And take a lot of pictures. I promised my Mom that I would send her some."
"How about we take one now?" Marinette suggested.
Adrien nodded and the group of friends squeezed together to take a selfie.
"How about you, Marinette?"
"The Wayne Foundation Fundraising Gala," Marinette answered promptly. "It's one of the most influential events in fashion. I've heard that celebrities wear their second-best outfits to the Met Gala and save their best for the Wayne Gala. I know that the Wayne Foundation is paying for a shopping trip to pick out an outfit for the Gala, but I made my dress own and brought it here."
Alya laughed. "I should have guessed."
Marinette smiled sheepishly. "I couldn't resist. This is the first opportunity I've had to wear my newest creation."
"Do you have pictures of it?" asked Adrien.
Marinette shook her head. "I'm not showing anyone until the Gala. I'm keeping it safe in my room. I don't want to jinx anything."
"Hawkmoth is gone. We're in Gotham, living it up. Life is good." Alya summarized, and the whole group chimed in their agreement. Life was good.
----------
"Is everything in this city named after the Waynes?" asked Nino as they stepped off the bus in from of the Martha Wayne Memorial Botanical Gardens.
"The Waynes are one of the oldest and wealthiest families in Gotham. When you're that rich, life is just a game of buying your name onto as many buildings as possible," Adrien answered.
"The Waynes and their extraordinary money are the reason why we're here, so I'm willing to forgo making fun of everything they put their name on," Alya decided.
Once they got through the doors to the Botanical Garden, Marinette was entranced. Flowers of every shade surrounded her, the sound of rushing water and the rustling of leaves was the only thing she could hear, the smell of pollen and fresh air filled her lungs. It was heavenly.
"I'm Olivia, but you can all call me Liv," spoke the blonde tour guide as she approached the class. "I'll be giving you a tour of the Botanical Gardens, the largest sanctuary for endangered plants in New Jersey. We're known especially for our orchid garden, which we'll walk through at the end of our tour."
As the tour continued, Marinette noticed that one hallway was blocked off by a sign reading: Hydrangea Exhibition Coming This Fall.
Liv pointed out the hallway. "Down that hallway is the upcoming Hydrangea Exhibition, which is replacing the old New Jersey Wildflower exhibit. Now, I know you're all from out of town, but if you're even in Gotham again, make sure you check out the Botanical Gardens. We're always getting new exhibits-"
Liv was cut off by the sound of shattering glass. One of the panes of glass making up the room had been shattered, and shards rained down on screaming tourists. Marinette's eyes widened as she recognized Poison Ivy, lowering herself through the now opened ceiling on her vines. "You thought you could destroy the native vegetation of this city and get away with it? Nothing escapes my notice. Now, I would like to have a little chat with whoever's in charge here."
Liv motioned for all the students to get down, whispering, "As long as we stay out of Poison Ivy's way, we'll be perfectly fine. Just stay calm and stay quiet."
Marinette watched as the Director of the Botanical Gardens came out to reason with Poison Ivy. He pleaded with the villain, "We won't destroy any of the wildflower gardens, I swear. I'll make sure myself that the wildflower exhibit will be moved to public parks all across Gotham."
Poison Ivy shook her head. "That's not good enough. You think you can wash your hands of these flowers so long as someone else offers to take them? How long do you think the wildflower gardens will last without any sort of protection?"
"We'll make sure that the gardens are protected, I promise."
Narrowing her eyes, Poison Ivy gave the Director a cruel smile. "I hope for your sake, Mr. Joseph Hoffman of 524 Shelton Avenue, that nothing happens to those flowers. Otherwise..." Poison Ivy let the threat hang in the air, using her vines to ascend back up to the ceiling.
The next few moments were so chaotic and full of movement that Marinette couldn't quite piece together what had happened. All she knew was that one second Poison Ivy was leaving the way she came and the next second, Batman and Robin were facing her down in the middle of the Botanical Gardens.
"Oh, hello Batman, Robin. It's so nice to see you. I was just leaving though, so unless you want to fight me where all these plants - and civilians, I suppose - could get hurt, I would step out of my way."
"Poison Ivy, we both know that I can't just let you go free after you threatened this man's life."
Poison Ivy sighed dramatically. "Oh well, I gave you a chance. Now it looks like I'll have to start getting civilians involved. The villain's eyes panned over the room, her eyes just happening to make contact with Marinette's for a split second before Marinette looked away. But that split second was enough. Marinette felt vines start to wrap around her forearms, yanking her forward.
Marinette was pulled all the way over to Poison Ivy, Batman, and Robin, until she was stopped in between the villain and heroes. "What's your name?" Poison Ivy asked, a menacing smile on her face.
"M-Marinette," she stuttered out, eyes wide.
Batman's expression was stoic and unyielding, while Robin looked at her with wide, stunned eyes. Batman spoke, "Why don't we move this outside where no one - plants or civilians - will get hurt."
Poison Ivy nodded. "I will require a head start, though, so I'll keep my vines wrapped around Marinette's throat. As soon as I'm out of range the vines will go slack and she'll be able to go on with her day. However, if you start to come after me before then, I'll tighten my vines and poor little Marinette might not make it."
Marinette stiffened as the vines grew around her throat, just loose enough for her to take shallow breaths. Poison Ivy disappeared from view, but Marinette continued to stay perfectly still, desperately trying to slow her breathing before she hyperventilated. No one made a move toward Marinette, no one willing to risk the consequences of making a move while Poison Ivy could still control the vines.
After what felt like hours, but was really only about five minutes, the vines relaxed and fell to the floor. Marinette collapsed to the ground, lowering herself into the seated position so she could breathe a little bit easier.
"Are you alright?" asked Robin, kneeling next to her. "Are you having any trouble breathing?"
"I'm okay. I didn't get hurt. I was just scared."
Robin got up and held out his hand to help her to her feet. "Why don't we get you back with the rest of your group. Are you here with your family?"
Marinette shook her head. "I'm here on a school trip."
Robin walked Marinette over to her class, handing her off to Ms. Bustier, who let out a sigh of relief as she gently placed her hand on Marinette's shoulder. "I know that was a very scary situation, Marinette. If you would like, I can take you and Alya back to the hotel."
"No way!" protested Marinette. "I didn't even get hurt. Plus, we have the walking tour of Gotham today. I don't want to miss it."
"Are you sure?" Ms. Bustier glanced over toward Batman.
Batman joined the conversation, saying, "If Marinette prefers to continue her day as normal, then I would advise following Marinette's lead. Often, the best way to recover from an encounter with a villain is to go on with your life as normal."
Marinette nodded. "I want to stay with the rest of the class and go on with our day."
Ms. Bustier still looked hesitant but conceded anyway. "Alright. I think our tour of the Botanical Gardens is over, though. I doubt that they would let us continue, what with shattered glass all over the floors."
Liv led the group out of the building, commenting with a sigh, "It's a shame that Poison Ivy came and ruined the tour. The orchid garden is such an amazing exhibit, and now none of you will get to see it. Unless..." Liv glanced around. "There's no broken glass in the orchid garden, so I don't suppose why we couldn't leave the Botanical Garden through the side-exit past the orchid garden. What do you say, Marinette?"
Marinette smiled. "That sounds wonderful."
As the tour group turned to enter one of the hallways branching off of the main room, Marinette glanced behind her one last time. She made eye contact with Robin, who was watching her leave, an expression of wonder on his face. Marinette turned back around self-consciously rubbing the back of her neck. She wasn't sure why Robin looked at her like that. It wasn't a look that one would give a stranger, and yet they had never met before. Marinette thought it was odd, but the thought was gone from her mind as soon as her class entered the orchid garden. I'm here in Gotham for a week to have fun, she reminded herself, so no more investigating every strange occurrence.
----------
The walking tour of Gotham was just as fun and informative as Marinette anticipated, packed with interesting facts and amazing sights. She got a bunch of high-quality pictures of Gotham, good for putting in the blog post that Marinette (as class president) was in charge of putting together to go on the school website. Best of all, Lila didn't bother her for the whole tour. Even Lila knew that she couldn't bully Marinette and get away with it, after what Marinette had been through the morning.
The sushi restaurant was amazing too. Marinette had eaten sushi a few times before, but never anything as high-quality as what was served in the restaurant. Marinette decided that if this was what a field trip funded by the Wayne Foundation was like, then she was incredibly excited for the week to come.
Aside from the unfortunate interruption at the Botanical Garden, the day was perfect. Yet, Marinette couldn't stop thinking about the strange look on Robin's face. Had she done something wrong? Was she really safe from Poison Ivy? The thoughts lingered in her head, pestering her every time she felt safe and content.
"Listen up, class!" called out Ms. Bustier. "You'll all have exactly two hours to explore East Hills Park. The firework show starts in approximately half an hour, and ends half an hour before you have to meet up here, which should give you plenty enough time."
Marinette followed Adrien, Alya, and Nino off the bus and into the park. The group of friends started to explore the park, stumbling upon the statues and fountains that were scattered about the grounds.
"I found another Wayne!" Nino shouted from a few meters away. "This statue was dedicated to Patrick Wayne, who was Mayor of Gotham City - this was before they changed the name to just Gotham - from 1896-1904. His most notable achievement from his time in office was that he built over thirty new schools and eleven new library buildings in the city. He was known for his dedication to educating the City of Gotham."
It had become an inside joke between the group to try and find as many things in Gotham named after the Waynes as they could. The task turned out to be much less difficult than they had anticipated, so the group quickly switched tactics and began looking up the various Waynes to see what they actually did with their lives, to determine whether they deserved their names on the various buildings and statues of Gotham.
"He actually sounds like he deserved a statue," said Adrien, looking down at his phone at the Wikipedia article he had pulled up. "Not like Augustus Wayne, who never had a job and gambled away nearly a quarter of the Wayne fortune, yet still has a bridge and a fountain in this park named after him."
Marinette chimed in, "My favorite is Georgiana Wayne. Apparently, a reporter was harassing her over the fact that she was a divorcee and Theodore Wayne was her second husband, and she told that reporter to, quote, 'Fuck off, you lousy son of a bitch. If my husband doesn't mind that I am a divorcee, I don't see why you should.'"
"I wonder if she has any statues in the park," said Alya.
"I doubt it. Her Wikipedia article is only four paragraphs long."
Alya frowned. "That's a shame. Augustus Wayne does nothing of importance with his life and gets a whole bridge named after him, but Georgiana Wayne is a total badass in the 1920s and gets nothing."
"We'll have to bring it up with Bruce Wayne at the fundraising Gala," joked Marinette.
"Good idea." Alya glanced down at her phone. "It's almost time for the fireworks show to start. According to the class groupchat, everyone is gathering on the south shore of the duck pond. There are benches there, and it should have a good view."
"I'll meet you guys there," said Marinette. "I just want to get a few more pictures before it gets too dark."
Marinette started taking pictures of the fountains and flowerbeds, wandering aimlessly through the park. She was busy getting the best angle to take a picture of a maple tree framed by the sunset when she bumped into someone walking behind her.
"Oh, I'm so sorry-" Marinette began to apologize, but as soon as she recognized just who she bumped into she was at a loss for words. "Dick?"
"Marinette?" Dick's voice was deeper than Marinette remembered, yet still hauntingly familiar. His wide blue eyes stared into hers.
Marinette couldn't hold it together. She burst into tears, launching herself into his arms. "Dick, I thought I would never see you again. What are you doing here?"
"I heard your name on the news when they were reporting about Poison Ivy's vandalism at the Botanical Gardens. I did a little googling and found out about your class trip. It took a little digging into the Wayne Foundation website, but I found the approved itinerary for the trip and decided to track you down at East Hills Park. I knew I had to see you again."
"You did that for me?" Overhead the fireworks started going off, extravagant flashes of color that Marinette ignored completely. She couldn't tear her eyes off of Dick. When she imagined her reunion with him, she never really considered that he would be all grown up. No longer was Dick the twelve-year-old boy that Marinette remembered from her childhood. Dick was now five years older and sixteen inches taller.
"Of course I did. Marinette, I've missed you so much."
"I tried to get back in contact with you but Gotham's CPS refused to release any information to me. I kept calling and calling but they wouldn't tell me anything." The tears returned with a vengeance, and Marinette started to sob. "I gave up on finding you and I'm so sorry."
"I don't blame you. You have to know I don't blame you. It's me who should be apologizing. I could have tracked you down but I never did."
Marinette sniffled. "Why didn't you?"
"I was a coward." Marinette opened her mouth to protest but Dick cut her off. "I was scared of losing another person I loved. I shut everyone out and by the time I was ready to let people in again, I was afraid that you wouldn't want to be a part of my life again."
"What made you change your mind?" asked Marinette.
"No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't forget you. It was stupid of me to think that I ever could in the first place. You were my best friend Marinette. You still are, if you'll have me."
Dick looked at her with such longing that Marinette knew she could never deny him. Her face softened. "Of course I will."
"Thank you." Dick held onto Marinette tighter.
Marinette closed her eyes and melted into his embrace. The fireworks show continued, bathing the park in beautiful colors, but Marinette felt no need to watch it. She knew that she already had the most beautiful thing in the park in her arms.

Eastern Sun for the WIP ask game? I love retold fairytales and identity reveals, so I’m very intrigued
I do as well; I'm a sucker for a good fairy tale retelling, and if there's ever a media premise that's well set-up for retelling a wide variety of tales, it's Miraculous Ladybug. Eastern Sky is my Marichat "East of the Sun and West of the Moon AU" that I keep adding bits and pieces onto as the years go by. It's currently somewhere around 7k with a long bullet point outline of where I want to take it and what points I want to adapt.
Three facts about this fic before moving on:
East of the Sun and West of the Moon is my favorite fairy tale (fun fact: I specifically constructed my undergrad thesis in a way that would allow me to talk about it) for a lot of reasons, one of which is how much the element of choice is emphasized (which I've talked about before here). While most Beauty and the Beast tales are tales of choice and female growth/agency, East highlights it explicitly and repeatedly. I see the same themes of choice, agency, and fate in ML with Marinette and Adrien, which is why I wanted to tell their story using East.
Adrien is a giant black panther in this AU. Chloe is the arranged marriage he's trying to escape by courting Marinette under the guise of a panther for a year. Originally, Gabriel was set up to be the Troll Stepmother equivalent, but now I kinda think it would be fun if it was Nathalie instead. Either way, that's the dynamic happening on that side of the drama.
I actually came up with this fic idea before the show ever premiered. There was a 'Countdown to ML' oneshot challenge going around the fandom and one of the prompts was "fairy tale." I did the basic story treatment before realizing that to write this fic the way I wanted to, it was going to be novella length and at least ten chapters. Then the show came out, and I kept thinking of three thousand different things I wanted to put in. So I largely set it aside, because I was a very very busy college student who didn't have much time to write for fun.
Also I especially love how the bear repeatedly asks the girl if she's afraid and she replies that she's not, so I incorporated that into my fic as a recurring motif. So as a treat, here's a very short excerpt of one of those conversations:
“Are you afraid?” He asked her, his green eyes solidly staring through her soul. He searched her frame for any reservation, for any hint of discomfort or fear.
She was not.
She smiled gently and laughed. “I am not afraid. Not of you,” she said.
It is enough for now.
I love every piece of the concept and what I want to do with it; I just stopped watching ML after Season 2 and so don't quite feel comfortable finishing it until I've rewatched at least those two seasons.
Ask me about one of my WIPs!

Eris (Demon's daughter) Chapter 2: Travelling around the world.
Marinette has a mission and she will do everything to succeed.
Chapter 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
@liquid-luck-00
Escaping from the League of Shadows wasn't an easy feat to achieve. The grounds of Nanda Parbat were heavily protected and Marinette had to be extremely careful to not be noticed by other assassins.
After almost an hour of sneaking around, she finally left the compound behind. The first part of her plan is completed.
The second part of her plan was... slightly more complicated. Crossing an ocean was expensive and took some time. She had to perfect her plan.
She had an easy (meaning it took less time) way to get to Gotham. Go to the east and find a ship to the USA. Then a road trip across the states would wait for her.
Unfortunately, this plan made her more vulnerable. The most important part was traveling across the ocean. She wouldn't be able to hide on the ship or protect herself if she were found.
That's why she went to the south. Adani port in Mundra, India, was her first destination.
After leaving Nanda Parbat she found a small village name of which she couldn't be bothered to remember.
Her father made sure she had a flawless education and driving different types of vehicles as part of her skill set. “The only good thing he did for me” she murmured while stealing a car. She was sure nobody would catch her. She knew how to leave no trails. Also, for safety reasons, she would leave that car behind. It wasn’t that good anyway.
Her age made everything harder. Marinette could travel only during the night or on the abandoned roads. She couldn’t let anyone notice her.
She had passed the Indian border before someone asked about her parents for the first time. It happened in a small town in Punjab. Marinette deeply regretted leaving her first car behind. Hiding from the police and military was easier by herself.
“I don’t mean to intrude but you don’t look like you live here. I wanted to ask why you are alone? Where are your parents?” Asked a woman.  Her blonde hair nicely framed her pale face. Her emerald green eyes shined with concern for Marinette.
“You don’t live here. You’re a tourist, miss. You can’t be sure I don’t live here.” Marinette answered defensively. The hurt look on the woman’s face made her feel bad for a moment.
“I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to offend you.” The woman rushed to apologize. “You just looked so tired and I want to help you.”
Marinette wasn’t sure what to do. She was exhausted and hungry. She slept only two hours a day to protect herself and her money. And you can’t exactly find restaurants high in the mountains.
What did the woman expect her to say?
“My grandmother lives...I guess I should say lived here. My parents lost contact with her years ago, so we didn’t know about her death. I decided to meet her and find out what happened.” Her imagination never let her down.
The woman was still concerned. She was certainly the type to put her nose where it doesn't belong.
"But are your parents not worried? I have a son your age and I can't imagine him going so far by himself." The woman looked even more worried. "Are you hungry? You know what? It’s obvious you are tired and hungry. There is a cafe over there. We're going to order something there and I will pay for you."
Marinette was suspicious. Who in their right mind would feed an unknown child? But it saved her money and trouble explaining why she is alone. She reluctantly agreed and let the woman lead her to the cafe.
The interior didn’t look half bad. Everything was done in soft, pastel colors. Green plants in pots made the place look fresher. On a closer inspection it became obvious they were fake, but Marinette agreed they looked nice.
The woman led her to a secluded table near a window.  At Marinette’s questioning look she giggled: “I found this place with my husband and son. We usually borrow a chair so we can all sit together. Do you want to move?”
“No, I like it here.”
The owner soon came to take their orders. Marinette let the woman choose for her as she didn’t know half of the items on the menu. After the man left they continued talking. Mainly the woman was the one to fill the silence. She told Marinette about her family. She doted on her son who was only a year younger than Marinette.
"And my son really likes playing the piano... I just realized that you don't know my name!" Exclaimed the woman. "My name is Emilie. I’m an actress. My husband, Gabriel, is a fashion designer. My son's name is Adrien. Now, you know a little about me. Can I have your name now?"
"Marinette." She answered softly.
It made the woman's, Emilie's, smile even wider. "It's a very pretty name, Marinette. I like it very much."
Marinette muttered thank you and that really surprised her. She wasn't soft-spoken and didn't trust anyone she met. But Emilie..she made her feel safe and loved in a short period of time. The woman seemed to have enough love to share with an unknown child.
"Why?" Emilie seemed as surprised with the question as Marinette felt. She tilted her head silently, asking to elaborate. "Why are you feeding me? Why are you telling me this? I'm a stranger and you're sharing with me so much information about your family."
Emilie smiled sadly at her and took her hand. "I know who you are, Amira. My husband was the one you failed to kill." At these words Marinette tried to pull away her hands, but Emilie stopped her. "I don't blame you, Marinette. It was obvious it wasn't your choice and someone forced you to do this. You deserve a normal childhood."
"I'm running away from that life." Emilie grinned at her confession. "I know I can be more than the Demon's head daughter. I am more than that."
They sat in silence for some time. Finally they were brought their food. Marinette felt her mouth water at the sight before her. Unfortunately, she didn't know how to eat some of the dishes. Emilie noticed her distress and started eating slowly so the girl could teach herself.
"Come with me." Marinette's confusion must have shown on her face, because Emilie continued: "I want to give you a place to call home. It won't be hard to find a room for you. Adrien would love to have a sister."
Marinette would forever deny crying then. She wouldn't mention flinging into Emilie's hands. And Emilie would smile and think about consoling the crying girl.
Several minutes later Marinette stopped crying and leaned away from Emilie.
"Won't your husband be against it? I tried to kill him, after all." Emilie shook her head at that.
"He is bad with remembering faces and I will introduce you as Marinette, not Amira. Marinette is your real name, right?"
"My name is Marinette Amira al Ghul and I would love to go with you." Emilie sighed and asked why Marinette couldn't go.
"It will make you a target and I don't want you and your family to get hurt. And I have to do something." Marinette suddenly looked nervous. "I promise to find you again after finishing my mission."
"I will wait for you." And that was all Marinette needed then.
The following silence wasn't uncomfortable. Emilie knew that no matter how much she wanted to help Marinette she wasn't the right person to do so. She could only offer a temporary solution, but it wasn't something Marinette needed.
"What is your first language? Because your Hindu is very good." The compliment made Marinette smile.
"It's Arabic. Then I've learned Cantonese and Mandarin. Hindu, Italian, Russian, and French next. I've almost perfected my English." Marinette was surprised with sudden change but didn't mind talking with Emilie a little bit more before continuing her trip.
"You are really smart. I know English, French, Hindu, and Mandarin. My son started learning Mandarin to be closer with me." This prompted Emilie to continue talking about her family. Marinette just silently watched her and wondered whether someone would care about her like that one day."
Only three hours later they left the café. The sun was setting down and colouring the sky.
"It's really pretty, right?" Marinette nodded silently. The pinks, and violets, and reds were beautiful. "Can I hug you one last time? I've got a feeling we won't meet again for a very long time."
Marinette didn't see the reason to refuse her request. At her nod Emilie wrapped her hands around her. It felt...nice.
But eventually they had to part. They both had to finish their travels. And, maybe, one day, they will meet again. "Highly unlikely," thought Marinette bitterly.
Emilie's face would stay with Marinette forever. And, maybe, in the darkest time, she would think about her and find the strength to move forward.
***
The happiness of arriving at Adani port was mixed with sadness of leaving Emilie behind. Logically, she had to move on already. It was almost three days and she still regretted not going with Emilie.
There was a very long road ahead of her and she couldn't afford any distractions from her mission. One must not forget that trained assassins are after one.
Finding a ship to Shuwaikh port would be her first task. The best choice would be a cargo ship. Hiding there would be easier. Plus, she didn't need to eat much due to Pits' effect. She wouldn't need to steal much and would be able to stay alert.
Sneaking into the ship wasn't hard. Marinette scoffed at their awful security. But, it did work in her favour, so she didn't complain.
It took three days to arrive at Shuwaikh port. Fortunately, they arrived late at night, so Marinette had time to sneak away. It certainly didn't mean she couldn't escape in the morning. It was easier to breathe at night.
Nighttime made it easier to steal a car. She would certainly leave it before crossing the border with Iraq. It certainly wouldn't be a piece of pie to cross it. That's why she needed to get weapons. Marinette didn't take any from the League, fearing they were bugged.
Stealing from a weapon store was an interesting experience. But she finally had weapons and felt saver than before. "Why didn't I do this before?" Marinette thought. "My hesitation will have consequences."
Having weapons with her didn't help her anxiety. No matter how good she was at hiding her trails, someone would find her soon. It was unpreventable, but she could try to win some extra time.
Her escape might seem spontaneous, but she had planned for two months before running away. The timing was perfect: the next day she had a mission in France. Gabriel Agreste, the designer she failed to kill, made a deal with her father. He became their spy and in turn reserved a right to ask for the League's help three times.
"They won't notice anything wrong for three-four days. Then, the next two days they will try to contact me. After that they will start looking for me. I'll give them a week to find my trail and a week to predict my next destination."
The last part was particularly dangerous. Her route was too obvious, so she had to go in circles. While losing some time, she ensured her own safety. "As if giving them more time to find me is a good idea," she thought bitterly.
Water was still a bad idea. There was little to no protection or places to hide. The League had enough technology to ambush any ship. It made her next destination obvious: Istanbul, Turkey. Crossing the border with Iraq would be extremely dangerous. She barely avoided being caught the first time. If she didn't have enough skills, she wouldn't get out.
***
Three days later she was in Istanbul. If she had to cash out several favours to get there so fast, nobody needed to know. The beauty of the city made Marinette stay there for several days. Just to be a tourist for a change.
Visiting museums and palaces set her mind at ease. It reminded her about life behind the walls in Nanda Parbat. It gave her another reason to destroy the Light and their associates.
Two days in her stay in Turkey she received a message from Cheshire. They were to contact only if the League was close to finding her. With a hard heart she left the city. "One day I will return here without my father on my tail. One day I will return to stay. One day."
***
The good thing about European Union? No borders. The good thing about Europe? Travelling from one side of it to another was easy and fast. It took Marinette less than two days to arrive in France. Was it reckless? Without a doubt. Was it necessary? Unfortunately.
Jade promised a safe ship. It was waiting for her in Spain and going through France was easier than Italy, because it included crossing the Mediterranean sea.
***
Driving to Spain in her (stolen) car was supposed to be easy. She wasn't supposed to be stuck in Dijon for almost a week. She wasn't supposed to find friends there. But she did and regretted it immediately.

Fairytale dresses
Inspired by East of the sun and west of the moon.
Ok this is just a random short idea but what if Clara commissioned Marinette to make her a fantastic costumes that could be changed onstage.
Clara’s new music video had fairytale vibes so Marinette had an idea of what to work with.
The bodice would be mirrored and reflect the changeable skirts.
For the first half of the song, Clara shone in a dazzling golden sundress, like perfect for strolling in a royal garden.
But with a simple change of coloured lights, the dress became a breathtaking silver gown, for balls and masquerades.
The song over, the lights black out for a few seconds. The next thing, Clara’s skirt has been replaced again with a shorter, more danceable skirt, making her look like a fairy dancing amongst the twinkling stars.
The fantastique costumes are a favorite of the crowd, and Jagged then commissions Marinette for something similar! Only he wants his outfit to be based off fire, water and wind.

Trolling Alya - Part 1
Read the story on AO3: Trolling Alya
-----
When Alya first made the suggestion that they go camping, Marinette's instinct was to say no. Going on vacation was a luxury that neither Ladybug nor Chat Noir could afford, particularly since Alya wanted both Marinette and Adrien to go on the overnight camping trip with her and Nino. Alya might not have known it, but that would mean four out of five Parisian heroes would be away from the city for the night.
No matter which way she spun it, Marinette couldn't in good conscience come up with a reason to say yes. It was simply too dangerous, and it was with a lot of regret she texted Alya to turn down the invite.
But then she went on patrol.
"Pleeeeeeeaaaaaaaaase," Chat begged, falling to his knees and clasping his hands in front of his face.
"Chat, it's just not a good idea," Ladybug said, trying to steel herself against his kitty eyes. Adrien was hard enough to say no to, but Chat? The sad eyes, the drooping kitten ears, the slumped shoulders, the dramatic frown - Ladybug knew she was being played, but damn it all if it wasn't working.
"It's a great idea! We need a break and you know it. Especially you," Chat said, batting his eyes. "Come on, Bugaboo. Doesn't the thought of a fire under the stars sound appealing? No school, no akumas, no designs, no Lila..."
He knew her weak spots. Ladybug sighed. "Sure there won't be an akumas where we are, but what about Paris?"
Chat smiled up at her. "I have it all figured out. We can give the Bee miraculous to Chloé for the weekend." He held a hand up when she opened her mouth, quickly adding, "I really think Chloé is ready for this. She can take over patrolling for the one night that we're gone. If something goes wrong, she can distract the akuma until we get there. I already checked with Alya; the campsite is only two hours away from Paris. Transformed, you and I can make it back in like forty-five minutes. Queen Bee can totally take care of an akuma for forty-five minutes and you know it."
She closed her mouth, realizing that he had put a lot of thought into this. He really wanted this. More so than she had anticipated. Enough to have figured out what her objections would be and come up with workable solutions. Much as she hated to admit it, he was right about Chloé. Ladybug sighed and put her hands on her hips.
"You do realize that the only reason Alya cooked up this scheme is because she thinks she can get us to start dating, right?"
"Absolutely," Chat said, smirking.
Ladybug studied him for a moment. "You totally want to go just to mess with her, don’t you?"
"Got it in one, My Lady," Chat said, smirk broadening into a grin. He took her hands into his, pressing kisses to her knuckles.
With effort, she kept her face straight while she thought about it. The thought of being able to mess with Alya was incredibly tempting. The recent change in Marinette's and Adrien's friendship was already driving Alya crazy. Seemingly overnight, the two of them had gone from casual friends to sharing inside jokes, cute nicknames, and meaningful looks. Since she couldn't tell Alya the truth - which was that Ladybug had accidentally detransformed in front of Chat, and the dumb cat had followed suit before she could stop him - Marinette had been dodging the subject as best she could.
What wasn't so easy to dodge was Alya's insatiable curiosity over whether they were going to take the next step and start dating. It was literally the first thing Alya asked her every morning, and the last thing Alya asked her every night. And every time Marinette told her no, she was pretty sure that the veins in Alya's forehead got a little bit bigger from sheer frustration.
It was, if Ladybug was being honest, hilarious. The day that Adrien walked over, kissed Marinette's cheek and lovingly called her 'Princess' while wrapping his arms around her, Marinette thought Alya's head was going to explode.
It was just one of those things that didn't have a simple explanation. As surely as the sun rose in the east, Marinette Dupain-Cheng was going to marry Adrien Agreste. That was a fact that Ladybug knew in her heart, and she knew that Chat knew it too. The unspoken acknowledgement surrounded the two of them like a warm, cozy blanket. There was really no need to rush to dating because that next step was always going to be there; they had all the time in the world.
Right now, Ladybug was just thoroughly enjoying both the anticipation and the ability to cuddle up to Adrien while watching Alya try not to choke to death on her blueberry smoothie as Nino awkwardly patted his girlfriend on the back.
"Okay," Ladybug said at last. "But you realize this means we'll end up sharing a tent."
Chat shrugged. "A tent has to be more comfortable than the time you fell asleep on top of me and then rolled off the roof."
"That was one time, you asshole!" Ladybug freed her hands and shoved his forehead. Chat yowled and fell backwards onto his ass. Ladybug huffed and threw herself off the roof.
"Rude!" he yelled after her. "Just for that, I'm not purring while you sleep!'
"Yeah right," she muttered to herself, rolling her eyes but smiling to herself as she made her way home. Chat purred every single time they hugged, transformed or not, and they both knew it.
She landed lightly on her balcony and detransformed, making her way back inside. At just after midnight, everything was quiet. Her papa wouldn't be up to start the day's duties for another three hours. Marinette landed on her bed and crossed her legs, reaching under her pillow for the cookies she'd left Tikki. Her kwami beamed and took one of the cookies, biting into it happily. Marinette smiled back and took out her phone, sighing when she saw all the texts that Alya had sent her. Alya had never been good at taking no for an answer.
"Do you want to go, Marinette?" Tikki asked, peering down at the screen. A crumb fell onto the glass. Marinette absently wiped it away.
"You know what, I think I do. It would be nice to get away from Paris for even one night. I'm just not sure..." Marinette sighed.
"I think Chat is right. Queen Bee can handle things. And if you two needed to get back quickly, you could," Tikki said.
"Really?" Marinette said hopefully.
Tikki nodded. "Go for it."
"Okay." Marinette quickly tapped out a text to Alya rescinding her earlier reply and agreeing to go. Just as she hit send, a text from Adrien popped up.
"What is it?" Tikki said, seeing the look on Marinette's face.
"Ugh, that cat. He said he went to get the Bee miraculous from Fu and is on his way to drop it off to Chloé. He's so presumptuous! What if I'd said no still?" Marinette said, scowling at her phone.
"Just think. You get to deal with that for the rest of your life," Tikki said slyly.
"I know, right?" Marinette sighed and dropped her phone, grabbing her covers. She scooted down in bed, pulling the covers up over her head and letting the excited smirk roll across her face. This was going to be fun.

Canonically, When Does the NY Special Take Place?
So, in today’s episode of “LycoRogue way overanalyzes things”, I think ZagToon has actually given us some pretty decent evidence to more-or-less lock-in when this special takes place.
The key to narrowing it all down relies on this quick shot that the Miraculous team deemed worthy to grace us with:
Tumblr media
This is Adrien’s bodyguard starting up a meditation app just as the flight from Paris to NYC is about to take off. This, plus the sunset showcased in the next few scenes, will help us start to narrow it all down.
So, let’s actually start with their flight. Based on a quick Google search for “fights from Paris to NYC” I got this list of potentials in November (yes, just about all of them will then give you a pop-up stating that flights are restricted to/from US because of COVID, but we’ll ignore that right now).
Tumblr media
The airline the animators created for the special has a design that seems to mimic Air France.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, we’ll go with Air France’s listed nonstop flight - given that Alya mentions the “looooong” flight, we don’t see or hear anything about layovers, and everyone passes out, we’ll presume it’s a nonstop flight - and say that the class was on that plane for 8hrs and 40mins, more-or-less.
Tumblr media
Okay. So we have the flight taking off at 15:55 (3:55pm). It is roughly an 8hr and 40 minute flight. This brings the class to 00:35 (12:35am) their time. At the latest, if we go with the 8hr 55min flight listed above, they’re arriving at 00:50 (12:50am). Add in the roughly 30min drive from JFK international airport in Queens to where they’re staying somewhere presumably around midtown Manhattan, and it’s past 1am their time. No wonder Ms. Mendeleiev wants them to go directly to bed when they get to their rooms!
Anyway, back on track. So, if they’re landing somewhere between 12:35am and 12:50am their time, that means it’s between 6:35pm (18:35) and 6:50pm (18:50) Eastern Time.
Now, we won’t get into things like “how the heck did they see the sunset on the plane and it was still happening as they drove into Manhattan when it probably takes an hour to make it through disembarking and Customs and weaving through a crowded JFK alone” because there are superheroes for friggen everything in this universe canon, so we can pretend 9/11 never happened and airport chaos isn’t as bad.
Plus, the “sunset” Adrien and Marinette watched was still mostly above the cloud line, so it was closer to “golden hour”.
Tumblr media
Now, the attack on the plane from an American supervillain and the quick capture by the main NYC/East Coast superhero team pinpoints the flight as nearing its end. They’re probably only a couple of miles out from the coast. Especially since Majestia welcomes their arrival, the flight is probably close enough to being over American soil.
Tumblr media
Further proof: the flight is making its decent into JFK as TechnoPirate is handed over to the authorities. Since the superhero team was flying faster than the plane’s cruising speed, it shouldn’t have taken them long to land and hand him over to the probably already awaiting SWAT team.
Tumblr media
Okay, so we have established that the plane is probably coming into JFK International between 6:35pm and 6:50pm ET, and that they are in the Golden Hour leading to the official sunset as the plane descends. Which is also why the sun isn’t close enough to the horizon for an official “sunset” quite yet as they drive through what is presumably Broadway.
Tumblr media
I mean, it’s not crucial that it’s Broadway, but it looks like they’re aiming for it to be...
Tumblr media
Although this one marquee says “Roadway Musical”, so....
Tumblr media
BACK ON TOPIC!
Okay, so it’s closing in on 7pm ET - or is closer to 7:20pm if you go with the 6:50 arrival and add in the 35min drive - and it’s the Golden Hour. Based on where the sun is, I’d maybe peg the sun to be officially setting (as in, touching the horizon and sinking below it) between 7:15 and 7:45pm (19:15 and 19:45).
Plug THAT information into timeanddate.com set for Manhattan, and you’re looking at the first week of September or even the last week of August.
Tumblr media
Alternatively, you could argue that it could also be the last week of March/first week of April.
Tumblr media
HOWEVER, when the class arrives at the hotel and Marinette and Adrien are first trapped by the dreaded Automatic Doors, we do see this shop sign in the background sporting a jack-o-lantern design. Halloween-themed stores like this are usually seasonal and don’t open until the end of August/start of September. Spirit, the largest Halloween-themed company in the US, has its “pop-up” stores open late-August through early-November. So we’re probably looking at those September dates over the March ones.
Tumblr media
Especially since we also get this establishing shot of the class pulling up to the museum and the second show of Adrienette vs Automatic Doors where we clearly see that some of the trees are already changing color. This solidifies that the French-American Friendship Week is indeed during autumn.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Based on that evidence, the first week of September does seem a bit early. First of all, leaves don’t start changing in NY until the last week of September/1st two weeks of October, depending on how dry/cold the weather has been. So, what if we take the dialogue at face value and ignore that “sunset” is when the sun touches the horizon? What if we take it as “the start of Golden Hour when the sky becomes more of that orange hue”? In that case, we’re going back to the projected arrival time and using THOSE times against that one website.
Tumblr media
The US premiere - which ended up being the world premiere - of this special was on September 25, which had a sunset time of 6:47pm. It could be a nice, neat way to have the air date be the canon date of this special and the class’s arrival within NYC. We can even bump it to the premiere on Disney Channel France and have it be Saturday, September 26th, with a sunset time of 6:45pm ET. This way it makes sense that Marinette wouldn’t already be with her class leading up to the bus departure, since it would be a Saturday and non-school day, as well as why Luka would be available to give her that ride at about 3pm (15:00) instead of being in school/just getting out of school himself.
Also, if Adrien still has the same schedule he did back in “Copycat”, he has fencing practices on Fridays.
Tumblr media
We know that post-practice, Adrien tells Kagami that his class is going to NYC “tomorrow”, which would seem to confirm that the class is flying out Saturday afternoon. Kagami’s “I’ll see you tomorrow” and mention of "give us more time to practice” doesn’t necessarily mean fencing class and instead probably explains what they do for “dates” in this awkward “are we dating now?” limbo they’re in.
So, what do you think? Is their NYC trip from Saturday, September 26th through Monday, September 28th? Should we give more attention to the actual sunset times and have the trip be the first week of September?
Regardless of how we time the sunset, this trip IS in autumn, but it’s also after everything that’s happened in the first 3 seasons, which most likely means this is the start of a new school year. How do we feel about the entire class lucking into being in Miss Bustier’s class again; no new students and not losing anyone to a different class? What about the fact that Marinette and Adrien have officially been Ladybug and Chat Noir for a full year, and that Paris has been surviving Hawk Moth attacks apparently daily for that year? What about the fact that Adrien’s birthday is probably right around the corner again? You think they’ll do another episode focusing on that and how it differs from his birthday in “The Bubbler”?
What’s your theory on everything? Do you have more evidence to lock this date down further?

A Blind Meeting
Chapter 3
🦇🐞🦇🐞🦇🐞🦇🐞
"Happy birthday Marinette!" I woke up to dozen or so kwamis jumping on me once the sun came on in the room.
"Oof." I giggled and wrapped my arms around them. "Thank you my little ones. What shall we do for the day?" They all slipped out of my arms and hovering by my head allowing me to get out of bed.
"Ooo can we go to the Gotham Museum today? It was so fun last time and we still didn't get to see all of it." Xuppu and Barkk said giving me what I assume would be baby doll eyes. I stepped into my closet and felt the collars of my clothes feeling the tags to read the colors.
"Why not. Then maybe stop at a café for cake?" I say. I decided on a pink turtle neck crop top, with blue torn up jeans and walked into the bathroom to change. Once the door was closed everyone cheered excited to go out. We haven't been able to go walking for a while so it is definitely a need. I changed my clothes, fixed my hair, and brush my teeth, walking out back into the bedroom.
"Ready to go. Teeks can you bring me your vest?" Teeks hops off the bed going into her cabinet to bring me her vest. I knelt down to the Teeks level and helped out on her vest. I made the vest in strong black material wrapped around a flat rope and hand stitiched her name and "On The Job" on both sides of vest in neon green. Barkk brings over my new purse and was first to enter it the rest followed. My old one was getting too small for all of us so I decided to make a over the shoulder satchel similar to my old. one.
"Okay Noir protect the shop." I locked the door to both my apartment and Bakery then left down the sidewalk for a cab. The day itself was a good day. The sun was out defeating the smoke from the factories and even traffic was very minimum. The museum wasn't crowded thanks to school and people at work which makes it more enjoyable for us. I shifted my sunglasses up over my head and walked in paying my admission fee and onward we went.
Everyone flew around sculptures taking in every detail and telling me about them. I walked over towards a painting Tikki said it looked like a lot of splotches and no lines to give an idea of what it is. I couldn't help but giggle at the little red god.
"It's the point to channel your imagination. If I'm correct, if you look to the left and then look at the picture from your prevail vision, you can see what the artist wished to show." I felt the kwamis all do so giving small 'oh' until footsteps came up behind us.
"You're not far off. But if you tilt your head to the right and look you'll see a field of flowers." Someone said. His voice was sweet and he seemed to be about a head or two taller than me. I did as he suggested. Indeed the shape changed but only thanks to my friends telling me so.
"I see what you mean." I turn to face the man who spoke and smiled gently. "Are you familiar with this artist?"
"Indeed. Kurtzburg was one of the oldest artist we have here in out museum. Traveled her all the way from France back in 1816. He was always into the illusion of his art. Have you seen his last piece before he died?" His voice sounded almost like honey too sweet to think it's his real voice. Teeks stiffened next to me waiting to see what I would do.
"No I feel I haven't yet. This is only my second time here so I wanted to take the chance to explore more. Thank you Mister?"
"Harvey, Harvey Dent." He took my hand and kissed it almost humorous as it made me think of Chat Noir. Only different was parts of his lips felt scarred and rubbery. I slipped my hand back and smiled.
"Thank you Mister Dent. Well I must move on." I turned walking off toward the east of the museum Teeks staying close as possible as I softly mutter to myself.
"He's gone. He walked away. It's a surprise you didn't react to him. His face was scary." Barkk said quietly, holding onto my ear gently.
"Then we better get everyone out of here before he gets busy." I whisper and look down to Teeks. I quickly found a guard and told him to instruct everyone to leave the museum. The guard was reluctant at first but he finally did when I mentioned two face. Soon it began to be completely emptied of more than half the staff that was there when the alarms went off and henchmens came out from the back.
"Hmm..where did the staff all go?" Two face asked pushing a gun into the back of the guard I spoke to.
"They were given the day off for the gala tonight." The guard said. I stood behind a divided wall "watching" the whole thing. Unsatisfied two face pushed the guard to the floor with the remaining staff members and maybe a couple tourist his henchmen roaming around the museum looking for something particular. I turned around sending an invisible Teeks, thanks to Trixx, to the west side of the room as I moved over just a bit to snag one of the henchmen and knock him out in one swift move. I laid his heavy body down up against the statue then took his gun moving to another statue that covered my frame.
"This isn't enough. Maybe we need a little bit of fear. What so you think Scarecrow?" Well, Frick. I shifted to see a man with what looks to be a sack on his head walk around holding a gas tank on his back and appeared to be holding a pest spray rod.
"I'm going to have to agree. A little bit of fear is what the doctor ordered." He squeezed the trigger to the rod and sprayed out green substances. He let out a loud laugh spraying the civilians. Seconds after he stopped they all curled up on the floor and started to scream and cry. I took off my satchel putting it and the kwamis behind the podium holding a bust of a man then moved away stepping out from behind the dividing wall with a whistle.
"This was not how I expected to celebrate my birthday Mr. Dent and Mr. Crane. I would appreciate it if you would just leave and comeback never." I held a smile as I pointed the awfully heavy gun at them. Two face just laughed at me followed by his goons and Scarecrow. "Don't think I'm serious?" I lowered the gun down toward their feet and pulled the trigger. The gun bucked slamming me onto my rear end. It was a painful one time experience but it was worth it. The two men stepped back surprised.
"Get her." Two face said and I scrambled to my feet booking it through the museum. I hear three of them following me I lead them to a more empty location and stopped standing in the middle to wait. Tikki and Plagg wiggled up to each side of my head. I closed my eyes, took in a breath, exhaled, then opened my eyes once more. The red outline of the three goons each holding a gun and wearing what looks to be task masks. I looked behind me reaching for a staff from the knight armor surprisingly not knocking it over.
"Ready to dance?" I said spinning the staff in my hands then land it against my side pointing it at them. One of the big lugs came at me, I swing the staff down aiming for his legs. I was able to knock his knees side ways hearing cracking noises from the impact. With full force I kicked forward landing the top of of my toes on his chin busting his head back. The other two decided right then and there they would try to attack me. Muscle memory is a wonderful thing. I back flipped out if the way letting then hit each other and land squarely on my feet and swing my staff at their heads.
"You're not as flexible as you seem." I chuckled moving forward to allow the staff to impact. With a successful hit they collided heads. I took this chance and ran toward the statue I left the satchel when I heard Teeks barking. "Teeks!" Laughter came from the center of the museum again.
"If you want your dog get back here and take your daily dose of fear." Scarecrow said laughing. With a defeated growl I walked over holding the staff still in my hand. The crowd had huddled together into a small pack with their heads tucked into their knees. "Ah you're back. Two face did you find it?" Scarecrow tried to walk close to me reach to spray his toxin on me.
"No but I'm sure I will in a second." Two face said just before he shot all over the wall fill of paintings. Plagg pressed my collar bone then whispered letting me know someone was above us so I quickly covered my ears pretending the noise bothered me to listen better. I looked to see Scarecrow moving away from me just enough for me to run over to the huddle of people to cover all their heads as someone smashed through the glass ceiling. Shards of glass covered my body as I heard guns and coming toward us. I pushed everyone down into their stomachs moving them toward a corner.
"Shit, it's Batman." Scarecrow said ready, to spray his toxin.
"Robin get the civilians out of the room. I'll get Scarecrow first. Join me once they moved." Batman ordered the young man. He ran over to us and helped me moved them to another area of the museum. I stood there, making sure everyone was there then I thanked Robin. He nodded at me before running off to help Batman fight against the Scarecrow as Teeks barks near the back.
"Get this mutt off of me." Two face yelled.
"Plagg can you find Teeks?" I whispered.
"Yeah, go straight the take a left when I say." I nodded then run straight. I got about 4 long strides in before Plagg made me turn. I took a sharp turn and keep going following Plaggs instruction. Teeks barked again growling aggressively at him. I made the final turn stopping in place finding two face holding a cylinder case on his shoulder and a gun pointed at Teeks.
"Teeks. Back up." I commanded her. She fought to want to keep him pinned in ace and obey me. "Teeks. Back. Up." I hated raising my voice toward her but for her safety I needed to. She finally backed up still growling toward the man who also remained keeping his gun pointed at my dog. I stepped in front of her blocking her sight and the man shot toward my feet missing but made a run to leave with his prize. "Good try." I ran after him using full force to jump and tackle him down the gun sliding a couple feet away. As swiftly as possible I pined his legs down under me and hold his hand to his back.
"Well that was a tackle." I looked up finding the brawny man with the pointy ears standing there in front of me. As he walked to me he knelt down and tied two faces hands together before having me get off.
"Thank you. Lots of practice." I smiled getting up off the man. "Thank you for rescuing us. I didn't know how to get all of us out."
"Your welcome. Can you stay a little longer to give a statement?" His rough voice asked with a hint of concern.
"Of course." He walked off with the criminal and I walked back towards Teeks kneeling down to stroke her head.
"It's alright now. We're safe. Let's go find the others." I attached her leash exhausted to try to see any more, and followed Teeks to the satchel. I rubbed my eyes closing them for a bit to give my eyes a rest. Once found, I picked up the satchel, slinging it over my shoulder and walked out to the front to meet Batman, the commissioner, and Robin talking. I opened my eyes once more sensing I was being stared at which ended up being true. The guard from earlier pointed at me telling the officer that it was me who saved everyone before the attack happened and during. With that I told everything that went on giving a tired yawn at the end. I squeezed Teeks leash hearing my watch go off to tell me it was two in the afternoon.
"I need to get home now so much excitement. Thank you officers, Batman, Robin." I turn around to leave when the commissioner takes my hand to stop me.
"Let me take you home. The cab would just be difficult. I look down to Teeks who just scuffed with a nod.
"Okay. Thank you again sir." He lead us to his car and opened the door. We slid in and waited for him to take us home. I yawned once again falling asleep before I felt the car move and stop in front of The Sleeping Bug-Mouse. I felt a gentle shake waking me up. The commissioner let me out of the car then smiled holding my door to let me in. "Thank you again and again Commissioner."
"James Gordon. And not to worry about it. Thank you for your help. Well have a good afternoon Ms. Cheng." I didn't catch on to his flirty tone toward me but I did catch his happy honey voice. He left me behind at my bakery alone and drove off to deal with something else. I locked the door again and gone upstairs. We removed Teeks vest, unlocked the door, and I just plopped on the couch falling asleep again.
