i feel like i should say something that's probably already been said before but yknow what idc.

i kind of hate the way the thieves guild is introduced in skyrim? like you can't walk into riften the first time without being invited to join this supposedly secretive organization of thieves, even if you fuck up the task brynjolf gives you. in oblivion you had to like. inquire as to the structure and meeting place of the thieves guild from beggars and stuff to join it. and it's not the thieves guild but in morrowind, you have to ask around in one specific city to get clues to figure out where to join the morag tong, which is an actual official and legal guild with like guild halls in every major city. but skyrim is such a guided rollercoaster experience that wants to make sure you don't miss any of the carefully curated quests it has to offer that it literally just is like "hey you look completely average with no particular skill or experience in sneaking whatsoever. want to join my secret thieves guild?"
