Months have passed since Hyrule was saved. Things are settling down and stabilizing. Its almost summer, yet...Blue can't seem to shake the cold of winter. A part of him knows that its from being frozen months ago, but the other part is still denying it. Until the others start to prod him into figuring it out.
Dread consumes him, at the results of his little 'journey.' He is shaken to his core.
This wasn’t supposed to happen!!
~~
Here is that fic I teased, like, a week ago!

So I have tried to request this prompt from someone else but I don't think their blog is that active anymore. If your willing I'd love to request the following.
Prompt: Reader is bisexual and gender neutral.
Reader is considered fairly attractive and gets flirted with pretty often by basically whoever gender wise. And maybe reader and Zelda even end up flirting a little bit. Reader would have a similar lackadaisical flirty personality as Warriors has.
I wanted to see how each of The Chain would react to this with the context of them having secret feelings for the reader.
2nd official request, woo look at me go 🏃💨
Tumblr media
Sun: Gender-neutral Reader (”you”/they/them)
Orbit: Headcanons-ish
Stars: Zelda (Assuming they meant BOTW), + the classic Chain of Links <3
Comets & Meteors: Content Warnings: mild cussing, mild typical loz violence, Mildly Suggestive, & Trigger Warnings: none known.
Please comment if I missed any. /gen
so i like to think that modern flirting is radically different than their medieval flirting,
like mayyybbeee Wild can handle it, but even then, they have royalty/knights still, so hes still gettin flustered lol
and i like to think u learned that difference the first time Wars complimented ur new/strange modern fit, and u returned the energy?? except 10x stronger (to them)??
youve played the player, and beat him at his own game, the Captain of the knights is sputtering and shit LMAO
(he said smth like, “their beauty is god-like in this otherworldly clothing“ and YOU said smth like he’d “thank you, youd look better in my bed than in armor 👉 😎 👉 ” lmao)
funniest part is, bc its so natural, i can see u immediately shooting off smth and forgetting it instantly, much to the Links collective shock 😭
u go to towns and notice theres always 1 hero around to steer u away from shopkeepers, townsppl, etc so u wont flirt w/them LMAO
(when u finally notice, u just, “ohh i get it now, so im only allowed to flirt with someone named Link, ohhh, okayy” and they just, “NO we didnt say that-!” “No its just their bold flirtations are not for the weak of heart-!” “Yes.” “CAPTAIN-”)
the only one who they cant steer u away from is Zelda.
afterall, they kinda have to inform the Princess/now Queen of the kingdom, whats going on w/them traveling with Link (Wild) around time and space
the sheikah tablet had been disconnecting + reconnecting to Purah’s both fascination and worry
so as theyre invited to eat dinner and explain in the rebuilding castle, everyone’s absorbed in shadow talk or smth, and u can see Zelda’s struggling to follow along, u just casually bring it back to her, as she’s also trying to write notes and theyve moved on too quickly w/o her
“wowww, all these men and not a single one’s gonna offer the lady any, ‘hi, hello, how is the most beautiful girl in the world today?’ “
and the gapingggg from the links shut them right up, while Zelda goes all pink and coughs, and agrees that they should move on to more chill topics lol
and u can crack anybody tbh, Zelda giggles at ur compliments all the time, even in work mode, u can deffo get Wars to blush to his ears, and even Time to look away first in a flirty + staring contest lol
Legend might actually put his hands up like he’s prepared to fight u anytime u try to flirt at him when its just you two, before he realizes what hes doing and stops LMAO
oh and u absolutely get a lot of mileage out of that one lol
the best reactions have gotta be, in order of most to least extreme: Hyrule, Sky, Wild, Four, Legend, Twilight, Wars, Time
Rulie, Sky, Wild and Four fall into that classic, shocked-heart-eyes, full blush up to their pointy ears, etc category when u get them,
they are also very easy to get lmao
Four is the best at recovery, or ducking away, but if its the Colors, its this type of obvious lol, w/the obvious ones like Red and Blue, Green takes a little more to break, and tbh Vio could go toe-to-toe w/u better than Wars tbh before he crumbles under the pressure lol
Legend, Twi, Wars, and Time faces may not change a lot, bc theyre trying to save it lmao, but the way their cheeks go pink and ears twitch is how u know ur gettting to them (along w/legend’s defensive reaction to getting cornered LMAO)
Twi has caved and covered his face w/his hands before lmao
one day youll get Time to break more than an ear twitch, and looking away, One Day.
(Wind is in fact, having the time of his life, watching you absolutely hilariously wreck these otherwise v serious heroes, hes glad u got them to finally relax a little, but also its hilarious seeing Wars and Legend red faces, and occasionally stealing Wild’s tablet to take funny pics of them all to blackmail later lol)
idk how good that was, as im kinda bust at flirty banter between characters, so i hope this suffices ur need to flirt w/everyone lol
also i feel i should apologize for not rlly including pronouns? it just kinda comes w/writing reader stories to put them in 2nd person to both make intimacy for readers w/their little avatar im controlling for them, and to purposefully remove the need for gendered pronouns :/
so im sorry i couldnt quite figure out how to make it where “they/them” got used much, i promise i love all pronouns, its just a skill issue tbh lmao
btw
send any prayers, blessings, or good vibes u got my way tomorrow bc im getting wisdom teeth surgery and i am intimidated✨
ill post more asks (i have multiple asks!! <33) after im lying in bed lamenting my painful fate,
mostly just worried ill react badly to the drugs, also the idea of being knocked out during surgery is a little scary so what can i say
have a great weekend guys!! thanks for reading if u did :)
Peace out,
🌙

I’m asking as a request but if u can’t or don’t want to it’s ok. Then maybe just a quick 1 sentence answer for each Link bc I’m curious? lol, So a little while back @luimagines wrote some divorce hcs. So…how would the yandere Links deal with a reader that wants a divorce?
Divorce? you think you can be rid of them? no, no hope whatsoever.
not even death can separate you
but I do think they'd be a little different in how they handle you suggesting it (also going to be using reader suggesting a divorce because they found a way home and didn't want to make the links choose between them and hyrule)
also pinky if you see this I absolutely adore your work but never actually read the divorce hcs dfbgdgbdbfcgb (got too sad like a fool)
[masterlist]
Tumblr media
Legend would be the fastest to start outright panicking, immediately shutting down any hopes of you leaving. Barring windows and even going as far as to chain you to the bed so you can't leave. You're his and his alone.
Tears would break down, after thinking for a second that it's a joke he'd collapse onto you sobbing for you not to leave and forget him like everyone else does. But he won't force you to stay. If he learns why you did it? well remember this fic where wars lost himself a bit- Tears would kinda come to this conclusion a lot faster quickly following you into your world
Rulie takes after legend a little, in how he handles it after the first few hours. To start with though? He's a shaky stuttery mess trying to breathe and stay calm while failing but then he instantly jumps to keeping you away from society and tied to him.
Sky would laugh it off, seeing through you and the reason that you've even suggested it, divorce isn't even a potential for him. He's been reading your diarys and keeping a close eye on you - you think he wasn't aware of this beforehand? He promises you that it isn't even a choice to follow you to your home rather than staying here before kissing you silly and grabbing your waist so tight it almost hurts. Like he's offended you'd even think such a thing.
Twilight would freeze up to start, not, refusing to believe what you said. you have to repeat it a couple of times for it to really sink in, at which point he's already started snarling, wolfie starting to show in his actions and words. He could be rational and hear you out but he's just all over the place like he's been hit by a flashbang - take your chance to get away while you have it
Four would split instantly, the colours not being able to work together through it. Each wanting to handle it in a different way ( yes I know this isn't the most canon but it's more interesting sfvvsfvs) vio wants to plan out the why, blue is in charge of safe proofing the house while green and red are all over you, taking turns to watch you so you're never unsupervised. It'll take a lot of time and rebuilt trust to get him to rejoin.
Warriors would shatter, begging, pleading, sobbing and doing anything you ask of him to stay. even if you were to ask him to make himself bleed. he doesn't eat nor sleep for days on end as he tries and begs you to tell him why, why you would ever want to leave him. He looks more ragged than he ever did on the journey like he's seconds away from death. And when you finally do tell him- he breaks down all over again tugging you into his arms as he's begging for there to be more, that you didn't do all of this to him for something so small and that it isn't even a thought to him of course he'll choose you.
Time is in a weird place, he isn't entirely familiar to hylian/human traditions yet so the word divorce itself throws him for a loop, until you explain what it is to him. Which is where he turns ice cold, the more happy go lucky time you knew is gone, replaced by someone simply wearing his face as he goes through robotic motions. for time though I could also see him using the ocarina throwing himself into a pointless loop trying to stop you from suggesting it but he can't and it slowly destroys his sanity
these got longer as I went oops, I didn't think I'd write so much for it ngl got into the flow a bit

What the Chain thinks about a Modern! Reader using slang/meme references:
Part 3
Legend
• He didn't know what Modern! Reader was saying either when they first met. He had a blue screen moment and just pretended that reader was talking to air or something. No thoughts just vibes moment.
• Despite having some slight difficulty at the start, he does catch up to what reader is saying.
• He doesn't really care all that much for the slang, but he does find the more creative insults and cursing from Modern! Readers world interesting.
• He doesn't use modern slang as much as Wild or Hyrule, but he does use it when he deems it worthy enough.
• He's also another one to translate to Time and Twilight about the terms.
• He also has his gremlin streak where he goes and teaches the older lot the wrong meanings of the terms, but he's more casual about it. He incourages Wild and Wind the most. He'll stay perfectly quiet when he hears Wild/Wind give the wrong translation too.
• Like staded previously, Warriors and him make bets on Time when it comes to readers slang. It doesn't just stop there, if Warriors has enough rupees they make bets on anyone that genuinely has a hard time catching what reader says.
• Now I don't see him as a fan of the meme references either. He probably thinks that people in Modern! Reader's world have really broken humour or that they're just dumb.
• He's the one to face palm in the background whenever Wild and Hyrule try to recreate/make their own memes.
• Some memes he actually relates to. It's more on the darker side of the genre though as well as being an adult and hating adulting.
• I'd give this prickly little man a 7/10. He should join Wild and Hyrule in their shenanigans to complete triple threat. It would've bumped him up to an 8.5 or 9/10.
Four
• I can see Four being the third quickest to learn and understand Modern! Reader's slang.
• Him hogging the braincells of the Chain, he successfully uses it to disect the sentence and figure out what the new/interesting word means.
• He does, however not share this information for his own amusement.
• Having him hangout with Wind the most, they tend to use Modern! Reader's slang in their casual conversations to spite the old people.
• The colours however see it differently, I'll elaborate.
• Red is infatuated with the modern day language. He finds it interesting and unique as it creates a more casual and comforting atmosphere when Modern! Reader talks. He definitely looks at reader with sparkles in his eyes.
•  Blue kinda side eyes the new slang for a while before he gives in to the others interest in it. He finds it to be a more challenging when Modern! Reader uses too much in one sentence. It's silly to him that people have become lazy enough to just decide to shorten words as a whole. But he does appreciate the flow of how it sounds.
•  Green had a mild reaction to slang than most of the others. He does feel the same sentiment about the casual atmosphere that it creates but he finds it more cute in a way.
•  Vio caught interest the first time a slang word slipped from Modern! Reader's mouth. He would be the one to analyse and break down what reader says before restructuring it to make sense to them. It's like a guilty pleasure for him to do it, gives his mind a little bit of work to do.
• Four thoroughly enjoys the memes from readers world. His favourites are those that start arguments amongst the Chain. The flat earther memes.
• Four would be a 9/10 he's open minded to diversity and encourages it.
Wind
• Wind has everyone beat with how quickly he learned Modern! Reader's slang.
• Since he's still pretty young his mind still absorbs new information ten times faster than everyone else. So, I believe he'd be the quickest to learn and adapt to the way reader talks.
• He doesn't want reader to feel alienated in the group and tries to make it comfortable for them by learning things from the modern day. (My sweet baby)
• It quickly becomes a habit for him to use slang when talking, not just with reader, but with everyone else. He doesn't care if they don't understand and he'll even use it to his advantage.
• He called Time a boomer without facing any repercussions.
• Baby boy baby was surprised when Modern! Reader called him that and he was the first to ask about it. After readers explanation that its a meme from their world, Wind decides its time to learn every meme reference that reader knows and to use it to antagonise the old man.
• Wind jumps to every opportunity to make a meme reference once he's enlightened about them.
• Wind would be everyone's main person to translate - emphasis on the would be. But he gets carried away with his translations of the slang.
• Overall I'd say that he also a 9/10.

Y/N: Well, you didn't have to worry about me.
Legend: Well, I did.
۵♡۵
It’s no secret the Yan!Chain is protective. None at all. But how protective are they each? Well, let’s unpack that shall we. (By the way, my memory is worse than Wilds at the rate i’m going, so If i forgot one of em just let me know)
Time
8/10 Solid breathing room, enough you can be left alone while he works. Enough you can take a wander around town without telling him first or speak to someone else. But not much beyond that. Not that he doesn’t trust you, but you loose so many people so many times and you tend to make sure that the people who stay round actually, you know, stay around. And, in his eyes, who wouldn’t want you? You’re so… good. Just wholeheartedly good and kind. And with a face like yours, it’s no wonder that people would stare, wanting to keep you all to themselves. So it’s best he does it first. Especially since he knows you best.
Twilight
10/10 inwardly 9/10 outwardly. Wolves are incredibly, incredibly protective of their chosen mates. Going any length to care for them and ensure their contentment with one another. With that said: congratulations, you are now house spouse. You aren’t leaving Ordon without him in tow. He trusts you just enough to stay at home while he works. But talking with other people read: other men doesn’t go over well. Your friends are his friends, the family you have connections with are his family. What’s yours is his and what’s his is yours. No one else included. Afterall, that’s the deal with marriage, right?
Hyrule
Probably around a 4 or 5/10. Still absolutely prepared to kick ass and look good doing it in the occasion that you need it, but more forgiving. You can have your own job, friends and life outside of his. But do keep in mind, he’s still out of his mind here. You’re being watched. The faeries are far more subtle than glowing with light when they need to be. Your relationship is more or less built on trust and understanding, so you’ll have an easier time bargaining for your freedom. But freedom only goes so far. He’s seen so much of the world that you couldn’t possibly see more. He’s got eyes everywhere. Every glade. Every forest. Every clearing. Every flower and blade of grass if it means he knows here you are.
Legend
6/10, if we’re being safe, but let’s be real: 7/10. Feral, will bite a man. He doesn’t restrict you so much, he wouldn’t dare being the cage his dearest wishes to escape from. But your environment? That’s a free playing field. Anyone who attempts to befriend you is met with his sarcastic rude remarks, any employers turn you down, any freedom beyond him and what he has to offer is not a freedom he trusts. You can be alone… ish. You’re babysat by Ravio. Or maybe your babysitting him… we’re getting off topic. He’s as restricting as he can be without being downright abrasive to you. He already knows he’s rough around the edges, but as long as you keep believing there’s more to him, he’s satisfied.
Four
4/10 (I’m Kidding) Actually: 9/10.
Another house spouse! Between Vio and Blue, you have no reason to be with anyone else. He’s practically four people in one, he can make you anything you want, you man the front of the blacksmiths while he’s in the forge -so you’re talking to the customers, clearly not alone- and anything else you’d ever need is readily available. Red is less protective and more clingy. You’re his heart, it’s only righteous he wants to keep you safe. Green is the one who borders. Any ‘freedom’ i.e: talking to customers that you do have is granted by him. And if you do happen to simply sprint off one day, I hope you’re aware the minish are far more capable of finding lost items than one might’ve thought.
Wild
like… 4/10? Ok ok ok, hear me out. So yes, anything so much as lay a finger on you, they’re meeting their maker. Yes. Agreed. But also, this man is a goof. You’re laughing, revelling, travelling, cooking, eating, rough housing, fighting… anything the moment calls for. Now yes, your hand is always clasped in his and he’d let a man bleed out of all you had was a paper cut, but he’s not as bad as the others. This does bump up in cities, he’s got an arm around your waist and adamantly refuses conversation with anyone but you, but comparing to the other heroes? Considerably more bearable.
Warriors
Considering this man has lived through a literal war, 8/10. But this is more for who you talk to and who might be of threat to you opposed to what your doing. If you want a job in the castle, fine by him. He already knows everyone there and has the ties to get them out of their jobs immediately if it comes down to it. Want a quiet life where you choose to be a house spouse? 100% fine by him. He’ll bring you flowers, make dinner, run errands, anything you’d like. But a life away from him? With the vermin who want nothing more than your downfall? The one exception. There are few people more capable than himself to care for you. And to him that means none. He will love you, because no one else has enough to love you as you require.
Sky
3/10 least, 5/10 most, He’s the most inconsistent. He wants you by his side but understands the surface and his line of work is dangerous. He doesn’t want you alone but there’s few options for friends. He wants to let you see the world and embrace it with open arms, weather it be falling through the sky with the wind whipping past your face or floating through the water, letting your joins rest or napping under a tree with him. He wants for you to have freedom. But with the world he was given, he’s afraid it’s not a choice.
Wind (platonic or as a crush. Testing to see how this goes because boy oh boy am i scared)
2/10. Granted, he’d walk or sail the ends of hyrule if it ment he could do much as hang out with you and he most definitely holds care for your well-being. But with that said, look at me and tell me there’s much critical thinking going on in his head. An argument between him and Vio would be interesting. I’d pay to watch that. Asides, while he’s definitely protective so to speak, it’s not excessive. And he’d be the most willing to let you go if it’s what you wanted. But not without letters, and nagging, and being annoying. Because it’s you you know he cares

Part 3!
Wild, Four and Wind!
Wild:
- Wild is the type of person that also doesn’t mind hugs or surprise hugs. He really loves it actually. Like Hyrule he makes it into a game. But instead of paying the huge tax he literally will try to sneak up on you and hug you. It’s a hunting game so good luck on winning.
- There isn’t any rule or thought that goes into this other than the first person to catch the other off guard with a hug wins. Meaning that it’s all out war everyday.
- That being said there are moments where you have the advantage to a hug.
Settling down in Hateno was nice, the boys get a break from traveling and a chance to regroup. For you it’s the domestic life you were used to and slightly missed while being on the road for so long. When you got to Wilds home it was by lunch time so Wild went to straight to cooking while the other boys explore or just unpack for a moment. You had took a nap as you were just getting a bit tired. Though because of the battering of the pots and pans you couldn’t exactly fall completely asleep.
Peaking over the railing you watch as your boyfriend moves through the kitchen. A small plot comes to your mind as while yes by the end of it you’re gonna be roped into cooking with him. That doesn’t really deter you from doing it. Slowly and as quiet as possible you roll off the bed and move down the stairs. Ignoring the looks from the other links as they notice you moving towards the cook. You do have to wait for him to put down the knife before you pounce on him.
“Gotcha!” You rest your chin on his shoulder as your arms trapped him.
Wild had stiffed up as he genuinely was spacing out and didn’t hear you coming. But he smiles and tries to hug you back “I am still in the lead!”
“By like 3 points.” You poke his cheek keeping yourself clinging on him. He kissed your cheek and continues on cooking not even phase about the extra weight. Using this to your advantage you nuzzled into his crook of his neck. This was incredible hard for him to move around which was funny to watch as he slightly struggled. “Do you want me to help?” You asked.
“Please?” You think about it for a minute before pulling away from him reluctantly with a dramatic sigh.
“Fiiiiine.”
Four:
- Small spoon. Wait this isn’t cuddle head canons. Four is fine with hugs, honestly give or take really. You gotta remember Vio and Blue probably don’t care or want hugs, while Green and Red actually like hugs and would welcome it!
- In general he wouldn’t want surprise hugs he doesn’t particularly like it as he is probably one of the boys that don’t like PDA in front of others. If you do it in private thats fine. He just wants to not be teased by others tbh the guy is a bit self conscious.
- You do have conditions to surprise hugs as surprise hugs in the foraged is a huge no. He doesn’t want you to get hurt while he is holding hot sharp objects.
Four hasn’t seen you in a while which was normal the two of you aren’t always near each other. However he was suspicious at this point. It was too quiet for you to not be up to something at this point. It’s worrying.
Very worrying.
He heads inside as he goes to find you very much concerned with what was happening. He first checks the living room and kitchen first before going up stairs.
“Huh…” Well Four went upstairs to look in the bedrooms for you and they were empty. He was starting to think he was just going crazy. Walking down stairs he was going to head out again before, he heard small giggling before getting lifted. “ACK.”
“Hello Darling!” You were giggling as you hugged him while lifting him up. “I missed you!”
“So you hide from me?!” Four struggles to get out of your grasp but like a cat he was stuck with getting attack by your love.
“Yes <3”
Wind:
- My son is an older brother. He is no stranger to hugs and honestly is the person that does it the most out of all the chain. Wind is super family oriented and knows that some of the others don’t exactly know what having family is like. So he is taking the mantle of the annoying little sibling.
- It’s honestly nice to get surprised by one of his hugs because even though he literally calls out when approaching you really only have like a millisecond to respond before getting tackled down.
- However there is one person in the timeline that can fully catch him off guard because she loves her brother so much.
Being back at Outset Island was fun. It was a small island yes, so that means not much room for being alone to relax. But thats fine as it was still a time to rest and relax. Wind just wanted to be with his Grandma and Sister. He already leaves often to travel the world with Tetra, he doesn’t need more time away from them. That being said he does have homesickness which this is helping a lot.
He was going around saying his hello’s to everyone on the island but was missing his sister. Which automatically brought about a little anxiety as he continues down the bridge back home. Trying to think of all the places she could be hiding. He did crawl under the house as he had to get somethings down into the basement.
Wind did check the forest too as Hyrule wanted to see a great fairy for reasons. The outlook was also empty. Wind stops when he gets to the beach still trying to figure this out.
“BIG BROTHER!!!!!!!!” A weight launches himself at his back. Then another one joins in. Wind manages to wiggle and turn to see both you and Aryll laughing at him. “Welcome back!” His sister said still giggling.
Wind huffs but smiles and reaches up to mess with her hair. Aryll lets out a squeal but couldn’t escape it as Wind brings her to a hug. “To be fair it was her idea.” You said laughing before Wind drags you in the hug too.

Eldritch Color
Blue is moaning. Wild scans the area in case Dark Deity reappears, but the battlefield is left empty. He spins back to Blue, now crowded by the other Colors. Movement at the corner of his eye has him hissing and snapping, only to cut off when he sees it’s Warriors and Hyrule.
The healer gently nudges the colors out of the way and puts his hand over Blue’s chest. It’s already glowing.
Prowling the edges, Wild’s ears flick back and forth as he listens for any further danger. A rogue monster. A wild animal. Something—anything—that he can protect them from.
Dark Deity said that Four wasn’t his. True, he didn’t have a claim on him. Or Sky. But at the end of the day…it didn’t matter. They were his brothers, even if they didn’t trust him yet.
“It’s not working!” Hyrule’s voice is pitched high with fear and Wild whips back to pay attention. Despite the glow around his hands, blood is still spilling from Blue’s chest.
The colors' voices overlap each other as they rise, turning shrill.
Keeping a tight grasp on himself, Wild lets a thin tendril unwind and snake out. The colors grimace and shift, turning to glance at him. It’s Blue he cares about, though. Or, rather, the wound on his chest.
It pulses with dark power and the threads of Fierce, twisted into something malformed. It should be a strong and steady flow. Instead, it bulges and warps under the Hyrule’s magic. Evading and mutating. No wonder the healing isn’t working.
“I can help if you’ll let me.” He keeps his voice soft and doesn’t move from his spot.
Blue tips his head, face tight with pain, to look at him. It’s Green, though, that speaks for him. “Are you going to Claim us?”
To undo this without changing them in some way…will be impossible. Wild shrugs half a shoulder.
“Are you going to shove us back together?” Vio asks.
Red goes even paler. “I don’t want to lose you!”

Just finished the secret dungeon at the end of ALttP (GBA): the Palace of the Four Sword!
So y’all know that fan theory about how the four Darks in the Palace of the Four Sword are actually corrupted versions of Four Swords Adventures Link? (Quick explanation below the cut)
I drew them. The Colors’ outfits, expressions, and poses are based on both the FSA manga and their unique attacks in that battle (Green: sword+dash, Red: spin, Blue: ground pound, Vio: fireball sniping).
I had to do it. I’m not sorry.
Happy Halloween, everyone :)
[Essentially, the theory is that the Hero of Legend isn’t fighting four Darks of himself— instead, those are the corrupted forms of Green, Red, Blue, and Vio from FSA he’s battling at the end of the dungeon, and Legend kills them.
The time shenanigans work out if you place FSA directly after FS instead of after TP, and Ganon time travels like the Hero of Legend in OoA to start corrupting the Sacred Realm before the timeline split. Four defeats Ganon, but gets trapped, split, and killed— or maybe Legend goes back to save him, who knows? Either way, it’s tragic and I love it <3.]

Whumptober Day 1: “How many fingers am I holding up?”
Read it on Ao3
- Wild & Four
- Summary: On the battlefield, Wild suffers a concussion and Four has to split to keep him safe
CW for head injury/concussion and brief mention of vomit
—————————
“Champion! Behind you! Look out!”
Four knows it’s too late even as he shouts. In the time it has taken him to turn around, catch sight of the armed moblin, and open his mouth, the monster has already raised its weapon. And at the distance he is from Wild, there is no possible way he can make it to him in time, even at a sprint. But he tries anyway. Cutting down the nearest monster, he breaks into a run.
Wild whirls around as his warning registers, sword held ready. His eyes widen as he sees the moblin and for a split second Four dares hope that maybe, just maybe he will have a chance at defending himself or getting out of the way. Sure enough, Wild throws himself into a sideways leap. But even as he does, the moblin swings its weapon in a wide, horizontal arc.
The sword catches up with the champion at the tail end of its journey. It collides with his side with such force Four is certain he can hear the bones in his arm breaking from here. Wild goes flying head over heels, then lands a few feet away in a heap of bloodied tunic and spread-eagled limbs.
“Wild!”
Four looks between the champion and the monster that has now turned its eyes on him. If the others were here perhaps he could afford to rush to his friend’s side immediately. But they are back at the camp, awaiting the results of their patrol.
A patrol that was never supposed to lead to a camp full of black-blooded monsters.
Gritting his teeth, Four makes his decision. Holding the sword high, he closes his eyes and lets the familiar sensation wash over him. Magic flows through him and out, his emotions splitting and solidifying.
“Oh no! Wild!”
No sooner has he opened his eyes again, Red catches sight of their fallen friend. His face spasms as he takes a step forward.
“We’ve gotta help him!”
“You go to him, Red—” Vio says.
“And hurry it up,” Blue interrupts, gesturing toward the monsters that are now closing in on Wild’s prone body. “He hasn’t got much time.”
Vio nods. “I’ll come with you.”
“We’ll handle the monsters over here,” Green says, already turning on his heel. Blue lunges after him without hesitation.
Red doesn’t have to be told twice. He rushes over to Wild as fast as his legs can take him, cutting through any monsters within reach. Once he reaches the fallen champion, he skids to a halt. Sheathing his sword, he hits the ground on his knees beside him.
“Wild?”
Wild looks far worse from this proximity than he did from far away. His arm is indeed broken and lying at an unnatural angle. Blood darkens his tunic on his right side where the weapon hit him the hardest. The crimson liquid trickles down his forehead too and an angry bruise is already forming beneath it. Its purples and blues and golds stand starkly against the pallor of his skin.
Bright blue eyes blink open, then promptly shut. Wild groans.
“Is he awake?”
Vio comes to kneel beside Red, brows pinched in a frown. Red wipes at his eyes, swiping away the beginnings of tears.
“I-I think he’s waking up.” He leans forward. “Wild, can you hear me?”
“Mhm.” The champion groans again, shifting a bit. “Hurts.”
Red puts a hand on his shoulder. “It’s okay. We’re here now. We’ll make it stop hurting.”
Vio turns away and starts rifling in his pouch. “Prop his head up, Red.”
With gentle hands, Red complies, guiding the champion’s head into his lap. Wild pries his eyes open and squints up at him.
“Wha…happened?”
“You were wounded in battle,” Vio says. He is in the process of setting out supplies now. A bottle of potion stands amongst the blades of grass, its crimson contents glittering in the midday sun. A bundle of bandages joins it. “Though we’ve yet to ascertain the severity.”
Red thinks for a moment, then holds two fingers in front of Wild’s face. Try as he might, he can’t quite still their trembling. But it doesn’t matter if anyone sees. Not now, with his friend so severely injured. And besides, he wants to help in any way that he can.
“How many fingers am I holding up, champion?”
Wild blinks mismatched pupils, trying and failing to focus on the appendages. After a moment, he snickers.
“Four.” He starts to giggle. “Like–like you. Four Fours.”
Red looks over at Vio. The violet-clad hero pauses in the middle of unscrewing the potion, bottom lip caught between his teeth. Seeing double, acting loopy, pupils in two different sizes – the symptoms all point to the thing he had suspected since seeing Wild’s head injury. A concussion.
“Hey!” Blue calls from a short distance away. The screams of monsters drift over from where he and Green are still battling fiercely. “You guys gonna keep us updated or what? Is he okay?”
At that moment, Wild’s laughter turns into a wet, hacking cough that shakes his injured body and brings tears to his eyes. Cringing, Red strokes his hair in what he hopes is a comforting gesture.
This situation is getting worse by the moment, he is sure of it.
“He has a concussion,” Vio calls back. “And some bad bruising, broken bones. I can’t be certain of the internal damage.”
“But the potion will take care of that, right?” Red asks, desperately.
Vio shrugs. “For now. But we need to get him back to camp as soon as possible. He’ll need rest and a fairy. Here, he can’t get either.”
Wild’s coughs subside, though he shivers with the aftershocks of them. He slumps back against Red, breathless. Sniffling, the hero reaches down and slips his hand into Wild’s.
“You’re gonna be okay.”
He squeezes and the champion squeezes back, albeit lightly.
“Don worry bout me,” he slurs, gazing dazedly at nothing. “Be fine.”
The very fact that he isn’t even attempting to get up, tells of the lie in his words. But neither Red nor Vio sees fit to point it out. Merely sharing another glance with Red, Vio sets aside the cap of the bottle. He watches Wild for a moment to ensure he won’t begin coughing again, or worse, vomit. Then, when he is relatively certain he won’t do either, he touches the bottle to his lips.
“Here, drink.”
He tips it back just enough that the liquid slides sluggishly into Wild’s mouth and the champion swallows obediently. Once he has drained it all, Vio places the bottle back in his pouch and turns his attention to the bandages. Green and Blue jog up to the little group as he unravels them, sheathing their swords. Wild looks up at them, a slight grin tugging at his lips.
“Four Fours,” he chuckles, and Blue’s face instantly folds into a death glare.
“What on earth is he rambling on about?”
“He’s out of it,” Green says, taking note of the bleariness in Wild’s unfocused eyes and the blood still drenching his tunic. “You said he had a concussion, Vio?”
Vio nods. “The potion should take effect soon, but he’ll still need to rest up.”
“We need to get back to camp as soon as possible.”
“Yes. Here, help me move his tunic out of the way.”
Green bends and lifts the fabric up and away, revealing a sizable gash marring the champion’s left side. He lets out hiss as the air touches it, hold on Red’s hand tightening.
“It’s okay,” Red murmurs.
Vio immediately gets to work, cleaning the wound as best he can and then wrapping it in the gauze. The other three help in any way they can and between them all, they manage to make quick work of it.
“That’ll have to do for now,” Vio says, standing up and brushing off his tunic.
Blue blows out a sigh. “Great. Now we’ve gotta get him back.”
“I can walk,” Wild croaks. He is a bit more alert now that the potion has had some time to work. But still in no state to go skipping back to camp.
He looks up at them, familiar determination coloring his eyes. “Sorry, but you guys definitely can’t carry me.”
“No, we can’t,” Vio agrees, calmly. “Not unless we absolutely have to, at least.”
“But we’ll support you every step of the way!” Red promises.
Green nods. “Of course we will. Every step of the way.” He unsheathes his sword and holds it high, already beginning to shimmer in colors of four. “Though we’ll do it as one.”
Between one blink and the next, one small hero is standing before Wild. He offers the champion a small smile.
“But don’t worry. No matter what you won’t be alone.”
He bends and hooks his arm under Wild’s shoulders. The height difference makes maneuvering him upright difficult, and when Wild stumbles, both of them nearly topple. But Four manages. And soon they are limping down the hill, back towards camp.
Back towards safety.
Four breathes a sigh of relief. His body is vaguely sore from the battle and splitting, his mind worn from worry and strategy. The sooner they can return for both of their sakes, the better.
“Hey Four,” Wild mumbles, beside him.
“Yes?”
“Thanks.”
Four smiles. “Anytime, Wild.”

What You Look At, You Change: Chapter 7 (Palace of the Four Sword Au)
It's amazing what listening to C'mon for nine hours straight can help you achieve
Chapter 7: One Link, Two Link, Red Link, Blue Link
“So the boss you told us about last time, he’s the one we need to face?” Hyrule asked, tilting his head thoughtfully.
“Yeah.” Legend nodded, folding his arms tightly and drilling into the ground with his gaze, avoiding his brothers’ eyes. “Mothula II. I’ll go over the plan for him again once we’re outside his chamber, so Vio’s up to speed, and we’ll all be prepared.”
“Being prepared is good!” Wind said, bouncing a little on his heels, injecting a little extra cheer into his voice in the hopes it would lift the mood.
Legend flinched, and turned away a little, and Wind’s smile slipped. He bit his lip.
A shoulder bumped against his, and a hand landed on his head—Red was now pressed up against the Sailor’s side, shooting Wind a kind smile, and Twilight ruffled Wind’s curls, the weight of his hand warm and bolstering.
“Sounds like a plan,” Twilight said, with a thoughtful nod. “Lead the way.”
*-/-*-/-*-/-*-/-*
Legend led them across the main room of the temple to the stairway that led to the path of the Blue Sword. It led down, and down, and down, into a lightless blackness.
“Oh great,” Sky said. “More darkness. Just what I wanted.”
Legend cracked his knuckles and dug into his bag. “You know the drill, same as last time.”
The others assembled into a rough approximation of the same order they had taken last time they’d descended down a dark staircase—Sky after Legend, then Hyrule and Twilight, then Wind, Red, and Green at the rear. Red and Green seemed to cluster a little closer to Wind, and Twilight saw the considering look the veteran shot the trio, before lifting his gaze and glancing meaningfully at Twilight. Twilight’s mind spun at how he was supposed to respond to this look, but his brain was derailed when Vio slipped into line behind him.
Twilight glanced down at the smith out of the corner of his eye, but kept his mouth firmly shut. Vio’s face was mostly reserved, with only a faint furrow between his brows betraying his agitation.
Twilight knew how it was, they were both Links, after all. If Vio wanted to talk, he would. Until then, Twilight wouldn’t press him to break out of his thoughts and silence.
Chatter filled the air. Wind was nearly bouncing down the stairs, waving one arm with a wild grin on his face as he spun out the tale of a confrontation with… a giant floating head and hands, apparently? That didn’t sound familiar at all to Twilight, but Red and Green were nodding along and chiming in, comparing a fight they had with a similar boss.
Hylia knows Twilight had seen his fair share of weird stuff on his adventure, but apparently there was far more out there.
Though, the ‘attack the giant eyeball’ part of it was refreshingly familiar—
“So, there are other Heroes of Courage on this quest?” Vio’s voice sounded suddenly, sliding through Twilight’s train of thought. “Ones that are not here?”
“That’s right. We have four more Links—or, well. Three more, I guess, if we don’t count your past self.”
Vio hummed thoughtfuly, ad was silent for a long moment. “Can you tell me about them? They are our comrades, after all. I should like to… remember them again, I suppose.”
“Sure.” Twlight shrugged. “Though I warn ya, ‘m not the best storyteller.” He grinned, and looked over his shoulder, as Wind thrust an imaginary blade forward with a cackle. “That honor goes to him.”
Vio looked back, and his eyes and mouth softened. The faint shadow of an impossibly sad warmth passed over his face, but only for a moment. “So it seems.” He turned back to look at Twilight and smirked, and that unbearably tender warmth was gone as if it had never been. “But best or not, you’re the one I’m asking.”
Twilight chuckled. “Well, there’s the Captain, and the Champion, and the old man—or Warriors, Wild, and Time. Time is our… leader, I suppose. He keeps us focused and gives us advice. We all look up to him. Wars helps him a lot—he’s an army captain, so that’s no surprise. He’s always got a plan, and he works really hard at keeping our spirits up, even if he and I butt heads a lot. And Wild…” He grinned at the thought of his protégé. “He’s a free spirit, and one of the best cooks I’ve ever met.”
Vio nodded thoughtfully. “And… do you know anything about their timeline placement?” Twilight’s gaze darted to him, and Vio smiled, reaching up to rub the back of his neck. “I’m still trying to wrap my head around this whole split-timeline business.”
That may be, Twilight thought, but something told him there was more to it—a sharp glint in violet eyes that his smile couldn’t quite hide. Still, it wasn’t exactly a secret, just… confusing.
He gave it his best attempt, explaining what he had been told of their adventures, and what the heroes had pieced together. Vio listened intently, nodding now and again… and with that sharp glint never leaving his eyes.
Somehow… Twilight felt as if he were missing something important.
He’d just finished when they reached the bottom of the staircase—it wasn’t like he had a lot to relate, after all—and the narrow stairway opened up into a vast dark room.
Legend turned, lifting his lantern high so he could see his brothers. His gaze lingered on Wind’s shield for a moment—only a moment, but Twilight caught it. “Watch your step! There’s some more stairs straight ahead, and then ice at the bottom, got it?” There was various nods and mutters of assent, and Legend nodded. “Good, so none of you better slip and break a leg or something.”
And with that, he turned and swiftly leapt down the stairs.
Someone, Twilight thought ruefully, was in a mood.
But then again, after a day like today, weren’t they all?
They reached the bottom of the stairs, and the lantern light glinted off the smooth white-blue surface of truly thick ice.
“All right, this room is really simple.” Legend pointed into the darkness across the room.” If the golden Octorocks are already defeated, that means the ladder will already be there, so we only need to slide across the ice to it.”
Wind let out a whoop, elbowed Hyrule and Red on either side, and shouted, “Last one to the other side is a rotten fish!” And he took off at a sprint across the ice, immediately losing his friction and shooting into a wild slide. His arms windmilled as he screeched, a manic grin on his face.
Hyrule, the Colors, and Sky all shared a single look; a look a that immediately transformed into identical gleeful smiles. The next second they were sprinting off across the ice, slipping and sliding as they tried to avoid the de-iced platform in the center of the room. Sky quickly approached Wind, his height working in his favoring against his fun-sized compatriots, but Wind’s head start managed to hold for the moment.
Sky was not to be outdone, and pulled the gust bellows out of his pack. He turned it around, flipped the switch, and went flying across the ice with a whoop.
“Here, take this!” Vio tossed something in Wind’s direction, and Wind barely managed catch it without falling on his face.
It was a white jar, with a band of blue swirls decorating the middle.
Wind’s grin turned maniacal.
Within moments, he was shooting across the ice, hot on Sky’s tail.
The other Colors quickly dug in their packs, pulling out their own gust jars. Vio pulled out a pair of boots instead, and Red saw this and grinned, pulling his own pair of boots out of his pack.
“Pegasus boots may only come in sizes for short people…” He wiggled the boots enticingly at Hyrule. “But wanna see if you can fit in them?”
Hyrule grinned. “Sweet Hylia, do I!”
Red tossed him the boots, and Hyrule quickly fumbled them on. Somehow they fit just right, which Hyrule supposed was because they were magical boots. He stood up, slid his foot forward, and rocketed across the ice. He flew past the colors, and passed Wind and Sky in a wild blur.
His wild shriek of joy was abruptly cut off when he slammed into the ladder. He slumped to the ground, groaning.
Sky let out a yelp of mingled laughter and dismay. “’Rule, you all right?”
Hyrule lifted his hand into the air, sticking up a thumb with a grin. “Heck yeah I’m all right,” He wheezed. “I’m not a rotten fish!’
Yells of protest arose from the other heroes, and they redoubled their efforts, jostling each other back and forth with the gust bellows as they strived to avoid a fishy fate.
Twilight and Legend watched from the far side of the room with amusement. Legend folded his arms with smirk. “Didn’t realize we were so forgettable.”
Twilight smirked back at him. “As if you wouldn’t normally be out there, trying to outdo them with all your little magical gadgets and gizmos.”
Legend arched an eyebrow. “Same goes for you, rancher, don’t think I don’t know about your competitive streak.”
Twilight shrugged. “Well, I would, if someone hadn’t lingered behind while giving me significant looks.” He raised both eyebrows at the veteran, and they stood staring at each other for a long moment.
Legend’s knee began bouncing, but Twilight continued to stare him down, steady as stone, if stone could smirk.
Finally, the Veteran’s hero’s-spirit-ingrained-curiosity could take it no longer, and he exploded.
“I’m not going crazy, right? Four’s shield—!”
Twilight cut him off with a sharp shake of his head. “This isn’t the time to discuss it.”
Legend stared at him, then threw his arms in the air. “Well then, why did you just stand there until I gave in and asked the question?”
Twilight grinned. “Because it was funny.”
The veteran’s teeth ground audibly, and he turned away, muttering under his breath. He muttered for a good minute, before finally sighing and turning back, folding his arms. “I get it. There’s a lot going on right now.” The words were grumbly and reluctant, and Legend sniffed at Twilight for good measure. “Still, good to know I’m not crazy.”
Twilight grinned wider. “Well, I wouldn’t go so far as to say that—”
Legend kicked him and stuck out his tongue. “Have fun being the rotten fish!”
And with a kick of his Pegasus boots, he was flying across the ice.
Twilight yelped and took off after him, yelling after the veteran all the way.
*-/-*-/-*-/-*-/-*
It was drawing near the end of his watch when the sound of retching caused Four to jump into action. In a quick movement he turned Time on his side and pulled the blankets away—and just in time.
He shoved a hand through his hair and sighed at the mess, trying to decide what to do—
“Four?”
The smith turned to see Wild sitting up in his bedrolling, yawning and scrubbing at one eye with the heel of his hand.
Four felt his shoulders slump in a sigh. He should have known the noise would wake Wild up—the Champion always slept lightly and woke early: he claimed it was because his body had stocked up on sleep for a hundred years and he didn’t really need it anymore. Four didn’t know if magical sleep worked like that for sure, but, well… he wouldn’t be surprised. After all…
He shook the thought away and grinned a little sheepishly. “If you’re awake, uh… I could use some help?”
Wild slipped out of his bedroll, wandered over, and winced. “Yeah… what do you need me to do?”
Four frowned thoughtfully, rubbing his chin. “Can you make him something to eat? He really needs something in his stomach.”
Wild gave Four a lazy salute and a wink. “I can certainly do that. Anything else?”
Four considered again. “Can you help me move him to the far side of the fire?”
After a hasty discussion of strategy, and the application of Four’s power bracelets. Wild took Time’s head, Four took his feet, and they slowly dragged him around to the other side of the fire.
“Thank Hylia…” Wild said with a wink, “That he doesn’t have his armor on right now…” He shuffled carefully, slowly but surely edging Time around the firepit, “…or this would be a nightmare.”
Four giggled, his breath hitching with the edge of hysteria. Wild caught it, and gave Four a knowing look. “You need sleep, don’t you?”
Four shook his head. “I’m fine. What I need is to look after Time.”
Wild looked very skeptical, but Four ignored him, focusing on carrying their leader with minimal jostling. Finally they reached a spot that was relatively smooth and just the right distance from the fire, and they set him down carefully. Time stirred fitfully despite their care, but that was all right. He needed to be awake to get something in his stomach again.
Wild bent over the pot while Four used his fire rod to quickly “sanitize” the mess. No sense dealing with the yuck when you could just incinerate it into oblivion, after all.
He wasn’t quite sure how he would explain the huge black scorch mark on the cave floor to Wars when he would up, but Four would jump that chasm when he came to it.
Then he returned to his place by Time’s side, wiping his face with chilled water and trying not to count each fitful breath.
After a half-hour or so, Wild carefully carried over a bowl, a piece of bread tucked under one arm. Four reached up and took it, taking a deep sniff of the warm aroma rising from the wooden bowl.
“What’d you make?”
Wild plopped down beside him, giving Time a complicated look as he bit his lip. Four could see the antsy movements in hands and shoulders—he knew how this had to be affecting Wild.
Wild had lost companions before, and even though this was just a simple fever, even simple things can make old fears grow in strength.
“Creamy heart soup—though I left out the milk and used a water broth instead cause it’s easier on the stomach. And I left out the voltfruit too for the same reasons. And the hydromelon.”
Wild paused.
“Maybe it’s just hearty radish soup, then.”
He took the bread out from under his arm and wiggled it. “And remember when I baked bread a few days ago? I warmed up one of the loaves by the fire, so you can maybe dip that in the soup? Give him something a little solid in his stomach? Bread always helps me.”
His words were getting a little rambly, spinning out like thread from a spindle, as if speaking could distract him from the thoughts lurking deep below the surface. Four knew that too well, so he simple smiled. “Thanks, Link.”
Wild blinked, gave Four a strange look, but finally shrugged and smiled. “You’re welcome!”
Four turned and set a hand on Time’s shoulder, shaking it gently. “Time? Old man?”
Time groaned, but it was more a groan of protest than discomfort, and his eyes opened to bleary slits.
Good enough.
“Can you help him sit up?” He whispered to Wild, and the champion nodded, scooting around to help prop Time up.
Once Time was in a sitting position, Four scooped up a spoonful and offered it with a grin. “Now, are you gonna let me do this the easy way this time, or…”
Time blinked slowly, squinted and muttered, “…captain?”
Four almost dropped the spoon. Wild choked. “He must be really out of it if he mistook you for Wars!”
The smith let out a short laugh. “Yeah, I guess he must be. Maybe it’s because the Captain apparently raised the old man.”
Wild’s eyebrows shot up. “Really? HOW?”
Four shrugged. “Time travel shenanigans, apparently.” He focused on spooning the soup into Time’s mouth, who took it without protest this time. “You’d have to ask the captain.”
They fell into silence, Four concentrating on his task and Wild on keeping Time’s rather heavy torso upright. Finally, the bowl was empty, the bread consumed, and Time was laid back down on the bedroll and tucked in.
Wild stood up and stretched, puling out his slate to check the time. “Why don’t you go to bed, smith? Your watch has been over for a bit.”
Four stirred and looked up at Wild, before glancing back at Time. “But—”
“Hey.” Wild held out a hand to Four. “We’re all brothers here. I’ll keep a watch on Time, promise.”
“I…” Four glanced down at Time, then back at Wild’s face, which was determinedly smiling despite the anxiety still lurking in the tenseness of his muscles. He sighed, and grinned, taking Wild’s hand. “All right.”
Wild lent him his blanket, since Four’s was still draped over Time, and Four climbed into his bedroll, lying on his side and pulling the blanket over his shoulder.
His eyes slipped shut, his last thought a wish for a dreamless sleep.
*-/-*-/-*-/-*-/-*
The next two rooms were tricky, and the heroes were quiet as they followed Legend’s instructions, watching their feet lest they step on the wrong tile and send them all plummeting to their doom. The next room was less difficult, but still had one of the traps active.
Legend frowned down at the blue fireball. He frowned at Twilight. “Why didn’t you get rid of the fireball while you were getting rid of everything else and giving me anxiety?”
Twilight looked at him, unimpressed. “How am I supposed to get rid of a fireball.”
Legend refused to be suppressed. “I dunno, but that seems like a you problem.”
Wind grinned. “Well, now he can’t, can he? Cause it’d be a paradox, right?”
Legend scowled.
Sky frowned thoughtfully. “Well, I know I went back in time and changed stuff that I knew happened, so maybe it’s possible—”
“Anyone else getting a headache?” Hyrule whispered to the Colors, and Red and Green raised their hands.
VIo set his hands on his hips. “Is this really the most important thing at the moment?”
Legend coughed sheepishly and pointed at the switch across the way. “Someone hit that, please?”
Wind quickly pulled his bow out of his pack, aimed, and fired, turning the switch from red to blue. With a flick of the Cane of Somaria, Legend placed the block, and then flapped the cane at his companions. “Alright, hurry up! Let’s go, let’s go, let’s go!”
The heroes hastened down the stairs to the lower level, sprinting before the fireball could catch up to them. It was a narrow hallway, and there was a lot of them, and the fireball barreled towards them before they could all get up the steps.
Legend, who had reached the top of the stairs, turned to check on his brother’s progress, and paled. “Hyrule, Red, watch out!”
Hyrule saw the brilliant blue blaze bearing down on them, and acted quickly. He grabbed in both arm, frantically gathered magic, and jumped. The pair of them soared through the air, whooping excitedly as they passed over their comrades, and landed neatly on the top of the stairs next to Legend.
Legend propped his hands on his hips and nodded admirably. “Nice.”
Hyrule set Red down on the steps. The smith grinned wildly. “That was amazing.”
Twilight reached the top of the stair, quickly sweeping both of them into a bear hug—or would it be a wolf hug? Legend mused thoughtfully—lifting them up so their feet dangled. “That was some jump there, traveler.”
Hyrule beamed proudly. “I love that spell.”
Twilight laughed and set them back on the ground, and Wind and the other two Colors quickly gathered around. Vio was asking Hyrule the specifics of the spell, Green was ruffling Red’s hair, and Wind was excitedly asking Hyrule if he could jump next time.
Legend cleared his throat.
“Ready for the last boss?”
It took them a moment, but the heroes calmed down and settled down to the business of checking their gear and tallying supplies. Legend waited until it seemed they were all ready.
“Alright. The next boss is Mothula II, and here’s the plan.”
*-/-*-/-*-/-*-/-*
The door slammed shut behind them, and a giant moth rose from the floor, spreading it’s massive wings as it glared down at the heroes with eyes glowing with hostility.
Sky stared up at Mothula II and whistled. “That’d take some bug net.”
Twilight nodded solemnly. “I think Agatha would faint from joy.”
Legend spun the sword in his grip, glaring up at the bug. After… last time.. He didn’t really feel like playing around. “Ready to kick some bug butt?”
The other Links tightened their grips on their weapons, letting their silence be their answer.
With a mighty flap of it’s wings, two more giant moths spawned, and they began circling each other, spitting rings of sizzling energy.
“Arrows!” Legend called, and Twilight swiftly sent an arrow darting through the air, squarely piercing the moth’s head.
The moth exploded in a poof of dust, revealing a swarm of bees. A symphony of enraged buzzing rose as the swarm descended upon twilight—only for Sky to dart in front of the rancher, sword moving so swiftly it was almost dancing in his hand.
Bees fell in clumps, not a single one managing to get past the Chosen Hero’s guard.
Vio pulled back his bow, aiming and firing in a smooth, long practiced movement. The arrow thudded into a mouth’s eye, and the whole creature shuddered, flashing a dusty grey.
“That’s the one!” Legend yelled, grinning fiercely. “Great shot, Vio! Everyone, focus on him and ignore the others!”
He charged forward, stabbing his sword into the giant moth. Green, Twilight, Hyrule, and Sky were on his heels, blades flashing, and Wind had busted out a giant hammer, beating and battering the moth with glee. Twilight eyed him as he ducked an energy ring.
Maybe he still has pent-up rage from the Blind II fight. I wouldn’t be surpised, after all…
He charged at the moth with a savage yell, thrusting his sword into the moth’s abdomen.
…I know I do.
Vio and Red hung back, shooting off arrows and fireballs at Mothulla II in between calling out warnings about the clone. Mothula spat more and more energy rings, roaring in rage in concert with his flashing grey.
He seemed to be slowing, the wind stirred by the great flaps of his wings beginning to die off. Green noticed. He charged forward with a shout, eyes burning with emerald fire. The Four Sword swung in a glittering arc, slamming into Mothula II’s abdomen. The moth roared and flashed grey again, only to flash once more when a blazing fireball slammed into it, accompanied by a triumphant yell from Red.
The next moment, an arrow slammed into it’s other eye, and Mothula II screeched. It shuddered, froze, and turned a deathly grey all over. After one dreadful, silent moment, it slowly crumbled into dust, vanishing forever.
Vio lowered his bow with a grim smile.
Legend took a deep breath and whooshed it out in a sigh of relief, sliding his sword back into it’s sheath.
“We’re done.”
*-/-*-/-*-/-*-/-*
The Blue Sword stood proudly in the center of the room, the center of attention of every eye gathered there.
“So…” Wind crossed his arms, tipping his head to one side curiously. “…how badly is …Blue?... gonna react?”
Red’s shoulders drooped. “Very.”
“It’s not like you reacted well to the whole situation yourself,” Legend said, raising an eyebrow. “Is Blue really gonna be that different?”
The colors exchanged a glance. It was Vio who spoke, folding his arms and looking to one side. “Blue… is my passion. He feels deeply, and is not the best at keeping those emotions under control. Losing our—” He swallowed hard. “What happened hurts all of us, but because of his nature, it will hurt him the most.
“If we don’t stop him, he’ll try to take that hurt out on any perceived threat.”
There was a long beat of uncomfortable silence before Sky spoke up. “We’ll just have to be ready for anything, then.” He glanced around. “Who want’s to draw--?”
Wind shot his hand in the air. “I haven’t gotten a turn yet!”
Legend waved a hand towards the sword. “Be my guest!”
Wind stepped forward, and the other heroes gathered around, weapons set aside to leave hands free, muscles tensed and at the ready.
Wind pulled the sword, and a small figure clad in a blue tunic and cap appeared, black blood spilling out onto the stones below him, flowing in rivers from his side.
“Quick, grab him!” Twilight called, which was a mistake.
Blue exploded into action with a snarl. Before Twilight could get ahold of him, Blue had leapt forward onto Legend, spitting rage and clawing at his face. Only the instincts of six adventures enabled Legend to react in time—he reached up and managed to snag Blue’s wrists, but not before several stingling lines were drawn down his cheek. Blues hands flailed furiously in Legend’s grip, simultaneously trying to throttle the veteran and gouge his eyes out.
“HELP, PLEASE!” Legend yelled, and the rest of the Links, who had been frozen in shock, were galvanized into action. Twilight seized Blue around the middle, and despite Blue’s frenzied thrashing, managed to haul him off the veteran. Legend kept his hold on Blue’s wrists, trying to force them down before the smith managed to score a hit on the rancher, while Green and Vio grabbed Blue’s legs, but not before Vio took a boot to the face.
“Are you okay?” Red yelped, but Vio shook his head, wincing. His jaw ached and he was pretty sure his nose was bleeding, but that wasn’t the important thing right now.
“Quickly, heal him before his wound gets worse! All this thrashing could cause internal injuries!”
Sky had already drawn his sword, and Blue’s screaming increased. “I’ll kill you, just wait until I get my hands on—” The Master Sword blazed, and the blackness in the blood vanished, purified and incinerated. Blue cried out, whether in pain or rage they could not say, but before he could spit more vitriol, Hyrule grabbed his jaw and poured blue potion down his mouth. Blue tried to spit it out, but Hyrule clamped his jaw shut with an apologetic wince.
“I’m sorry but I don’t have a choice!”
Blue’s eyes blazed at Hyrule over his hand, but he was forced to swallow. Then he let out a gasp of shock when he felt the potion take effect, knitting the torn sinews and flesh together, smoothing the skin out once more.
Then he sunk his teeth into Hyrule’s hand. Hyrule yelped and tried to jerk back, but Blue’s grip was too strong, his eyes glaring the hatred of a thousand moblins.
Red dropped to his knees beside Blue, grabbed either side of Blue’s face, and shouted, “ZELDA’S OKAY!”
Blue instantly stilled.
He was still tense, but his eyes darted around the room, taking stock of everyone’s faces—and of the blooming angry swelling on Vio’s nose, foretelling a possible future of a double black eye.
Slowly, carefully, Blue relaxed his jaw. Hyrule snatched his hand away, shaking it ruefully and pulling a little on his Life spell to erase the teeth marks.
“Someone had better explain what is going on,” He growled, “And they’d better explain it fast.”
*-/-*-/-*-/-*-/-*
Despite his request, it took a long time to explain it to Blue, mostly because Blue would devolve into angry yelling and accusations if something seemed suspicious even in the slightest. Finally, though, after Green, Red, and Vio had vouched for the other heroes and what seemed to be happening, and after the evidence of the Hero of the Sky and the Goddess Sword of Legend, Blue seemed to believe it… though he certainly wasn’t happy.
“Why can’t we just use their… time travel quest whatever to get back home?” He flung his arm out. “If you think I’m just going to abandon my CHILDREN you are absolutely out of your mind!” He glared at Green, Red, and Vio. “I can’t believe you would just go along with this!”
Green gritted his jaw and looked away, Red’s head drooped, but Vio crossed his arms and cooly stared back at Blue. “Are you truly all right with the possibility of fracturing three flourishing timelines and dooming billions of lives to oblivion?”
Blue was tense as a drawn bowstring, glaring still at Vio for a long moment, before finally he deflated like a popped octo balloon.
He shook his head and looked away. “No, and you know that.” He ground his teeth, before rallying for a second round. “But how can you be sure it would do that? All you have to go off of are some words on a wall—it’s not like you know what happened to Link and Zelda—” his voice abruptly choked off, for he had seen the slight flinch in Vio’s expression, the tightening of his lips and the tiny movement of his violet irises glancing to the side.
Blue’s eyes widened, his breath catching in his chest, burning cold swirling in his chest. “You know.”
The accusation was low and hissed, shock and betrayal dripping like icicles from the words.
Everyone’s gaze snapped to Vio, who had gained control of his expression once more, his mien stern and cold as stone. “No, I don’t,” he said calmly.
Blue stepped forward, eyes narrowing. “Yes, you do,” he snapped. “I know you, Vio, you’re me. I know when you’re hiding something. You KNOW, or at least you have a guess, don’t you?” He snarled. “That’s it, isn’t it? You have a guess, and you don’t want to tell us until you know. Guess what? As soon as we join again every part of me will know, so why are you holding back when wE COULD BE RESCUING MY KIDS.”
“Blue, settle down!” Green called, but Blue ignored him.
He grabbed the front of Vio’s tunic, shaking him, but Vio stared back at him, his jaw gritted. “Because it’s just a guess,” he snapped. “I don’t have any proof, and I don’t want to build up false hopes or—” his voice faltered.
Green had stepped forward, trying to break the two of them apart, but Red had caught the note in Vio’s voice. “What is it, Vio?” He stepped forward, his voice rising with stress and fear. “What’s wrong. You’re acting like you think something…” he swallowed. “…terrible happened to the babies.”
Blue twisted his fists in Vio’s tunic, vibrating with rage. “This isn’t your time for games, Vio! You’re not solving anything, you’re just making it worse! What could possibly be worse than this situation? They’re already dead in this time, so how could it be any—”
“DON’T ASK ME THAT.” Vio yelled, his own eyes blazing, his cool façade finally cracked. “Don’t you dare ask me that, unless you think you’re prepared for the answer, because you’re not.” He was shaking now, with rage or sorrow or something in between, and he grabbed Blue’s tunic in return, matching Blue glare for glare.
“Answer me, Blue,” he said, his voice frantically trying to stay smooth, despite the cracks forming in it’s foundations. “Ever since you woke up, you’ve been trying to forget something, haven’t you? I can see it in your eyes, and in Red’s, and in Green’s. You don’t want to face it, so you’ve been running away from it. But I haven’t.”
Blue’s eyes widened, his grip on Vio slackening, but Vio pressed on.
“Tell me this,” he said, low and with the tenseness of a man hanging onto control by the fingernails, “from while we were sealed… what did you dream.”

Hey there demons, it's me 🖤; ya boi back at it again at the Krispy Kreme
I saw your post about doing another smutember so I've spent the last few days brainstorming some prompts for ya ;)
So, personally, I'm a fem!dom type gal and I really don't see enough representation 'round the lu fandom. So, note that the first few prompts are fem!dom related. (If you don't feel comfortable writing them all, just pick and choose at your leisure. Or ignore this idk)
Sub!Time with begging and edging, maybe a bit of bondage. Tie the big man up and make him whimper. (I fully hc that bc he's always in charge, to have his partner take charge in bed would make him explode)
Have you seen that post by @fairly-linked-buffet where its the yan!chain just using reader as a doll all at once? That but role reversal. Reader who has all the boys tied up (w/ consent) along a wall and just goes down the line giving pleasure/pain/edging, while the others are forced to watch n wait their turn.
Brat!Legend need I say more? His sassy mouth can get him in some trouble sometimes...think reader would need to come along and teach him a lesson 😏
Done with the fem!dom so here are some others:
Praise Kink!Warriors. This man has had to deal with Cia and all other kinds of crazy bitches over the years, let's send him a reader who will just love on him/praise him and genuinely mean it. Soft times, y'know?
Reader stuck in a hole in the wall w/ the man of your choice. Like the classic step sis got stuck in the dryer shit but reader is stuck in a wall inside a dungeon.
Fairy!Reader and Fairy!Hyrule inside a flower. Like that old art you did awhile ago.
Four/colours x Reader - let me set the scene: they're in the forge, reader bent over one of his working tables, blue fucking readers throat, green going from behind, red whispering sweet nothings in their ears and caressing/kissing readers body, vio (and maybe shadow) using some still warm coals from the forge and pressing it against readers skin. Kinda like the dripping wax thing, not enough to burn but enough to sting.
Skinny dipping with wild down by the river or him sneaking some pics of reader on that slate of his to use when he's feeling particularly needy.
Sky going godslayer mode to defend reader from monsters and reader repaying him later with some full service.
Sneaking outta camp with Twilight for 'patrol' to have a quickie. Him pushing reader up against a tree and just going bloody feral (the idea of his chest to my back has me drooling)
Might think of some other stuff later, but that's all I got for now.
Take care of yourself beastie 😘
~🖤
Hello-oh sweet Hylia!! BEASTY!!!
Stole the breath right out of my lungs with this! I wasn’t even sure if I was going to do Smut-tember for myself, but after this… how could I not?!
Okay okay… the Fem!doming!! One of the best things in the world is to have a tough, masculine man under your thumb to play with and control.
- Time! Oh my dear beloved… I think my first fic writing post was Malon and Time with all that, but would love to add some of our other lovely men to it. Especially First, Twilight and Fierce! Having them beg is just… satisfying all on its own. 100% agree with the HC!
- OMG!! I haven’t but I will be!! These poor men are going to go insane with Reader just slowly making them watch and wait like good boys. Reader just stops right in the middle of giving pleasure, moves away for several minutes to make the lust grow. The Voyeur in the group (whoever that is) is going to come unglued because Reader knows he likes to watch and makes sure he is last.
- Say no more! Reader would have no issue figuring out how to keep that mouth shut and turn Legend into the proper bedroom gentleman.
- All the hell those obsessed women put Warriors through, he needs to be cared for and doted on with praises and soft touches. Make sure he doesn’t lift a single finger because it will be all about him and Reader won’t be like all the others that leave him in the morning as if he was a piece of meat or a trophy to screw. He deserves the world!
- Reader stuck in the wall?! Oh this will be yummy! Reader tried to get into the next room (the wrong way) by crawling through the too small of a hole in the wall and is now stuck. Good thing one of the Links are there to protect their backside… Reader just turned into the best side quest ever.
- Fairy!Reader and Fairy!Hyrule! Lol! Hyrule just disappears for a whole night and comes back in his normal size, all drunk and covered in pollen. Time and Wars would be the only two who really know what just happened to him.
- FOUR/COLORS!!!! Reader is going to want to work with him/them more from now on. This could also be a really good HC where Four may keep away from sexual activity not because he doesn’t like the acts or physical contact, but because it just turns into a war inside his head since each of the colors like something different and may dislike or not be okay with what another color wants to do. Split though… The Colors are small sex machines!!
- Wild getting secret pics while skinny dipping, ooo better not get caught! Them going to a hot spring in the middle of the night and just stripping and hopping in would quickly turn from lazy relaxation to a game of chase because Wild got caught taking pics, ending with a different type of play. They need a way to release all their worries, what better than the thrill of someone seeing them, steamy hot water and the pleasures that come with Wild between Reader’s legs? Wild still gets to keep the pics and deffo uses them!
- Okay, that's hot… Reader (Fem or male for this one!) is nearly taken out, but Sky gets there just in time as Reader screams/hollers and he goes on a full rampage (white eyes and lightning!). Wide eyed and slightly panicked, Reader won’t hesitate to thank Sky, completely ignoring the fact that they both have blood on them. The fear of what could have happened would make this a very passionate scene as Reader is wanting to give thanks, but Sky wants to feel that Reader is alive (his god-like powers still flowing while doing so).
- Ooh my weakness… feral Twilight being rough and bossy without words… He wouldn’t be able to keep his hands off Reader and finally gives up and bends them over. When Reader can’t keep quiet enough as he savagely takes them, he puts a hand over their mouth (back to chest!) and tells them to be good. When that still doesn’t work, he will need to give them a reason to be quiet.
I seriously can’t decide what is my favorite!! You have done it again and I thank you.
I will be writing these, but for everyone else, I’ll boil down the prompts to fit all fandoms.
Don’t forget to spread the word for Smut-tember 2024 to all other smutty writers/artists and let me know if you are joining in!
Keeping it Naughty!

By Omission [Linked Universe Four]
Everyone has their secrets. Four has more than most.
This is one of the requests from this Post. First time really getting into Four's inner workings, so lets see how this goes.
Masterlist
TW: None.
Disclaimer: Don't own The Legend of Zelda franchise. Linked Universe is the fan creation of jojo56830.
---
It was times like these that Four understood the violet shade of his heart more than he'd like to admit. Past the outraged blue, the anxious red or even the ever soothing green, was the cool, mauve pragmatism glinting in ever-shifting eyes. Purpose beyond one's sense of self, and the intent to see it through no matter the costs.
The weight of the travel bag leaning against his leg sat heavy on Four's consciousness, laden with the burdens of his sins. Sins that seemed to keep growing by the day, right under the very noses of the ones he'd sworn to himself to protect. Festering in his heart and driving the sum of himself to near madness.
He leaned hard into Vio's unfaltering resolve on the hardest of days. Like now.
'We should just tell them.' Came the nearly sobbed whimper of Red, the swirl of bleeding crimson blotting the backs of Four's eyelids. 'They love us. They wouldn't hurt any of us!'
'Really?' Came blue spite, low but building like thunder in Four's ears. 'Let stab happy pretty boy in on the fact that we're all liars and one of us is a twice damned traitor?'
'Circumstances were-' Purple logic was cut short by an explosion of static navy crackling across their bonds.
Four wanted to tune them all out. Ignore the hissing, snarling depths of his own fears and misgivings. But denial was never a luxury he'd been afforded.
Not since that day so many years ago, when four other voices rose up to ensure he never forgot the sum of all of himself.
'He's an uptight prick with a sword up his ass under that fake as din smile and he's just looking for a reason! So yeah, Red! That would go over real fucking well! Absolutely genius!' Steel blue rolled like a tidal wave over the space between.
'There's no need to get nasty, Blue. We're all feeling the strain of recent events.' Came Green's gentle soothing, smothering down the blue sea that'd leaked over faintly wavering borders.
'Most of us, you mean! Since one of us is used to sneaking around behind other's backs!'
'Blue, please.' Red sniffed, like a fire brand across their heart, pulling guilt and sadness both from the lining of thier gut.
Four grit his teeth subtly, pushing back the onslaught of emotion. The roil of unease and understanding that flashed green and violet in his mind.
'One of us has to be.' Violet washed over the connection between them, quiet and thick like oil across the edge of a blade. Toxic as poison. Kept nice and neat within invisible lines that were consciousness, but for a fleeting, chilling touch.
It was quiet then, frustrated and sorrowful both. A breath and Four was fully back in the physical world with a thin, hard covered book (pointless, but a necessary deception) in hand and Warriors seated at his side with frustrated tension in his shoulders. Sky sat across from them both, looking just about ready to drop dead right there on the table, his own read nearly limp in his hands.
Seemingly unable to hold back his distaste any longer, Wars stood with a soft hiss, eyes narrow as he stared down his stack of historic accounts with disappointment. "This is the largest library in any of our eras, and yet there's not a single useful scrape of information."
'There was plenty.' Four thought with blue-lavender indignation, red guilt at it's core, the weight of his consciousness pressing on his throat. The bag propped against his leg felt like hellfire.
"Maybe you're just too far down the timeline." Sky suggested tiredly, though looking a little more alive now that he had an excuse to not stare at crisp white pages for even a small, merciful moment. Four was almost spiteful at the blatant disregard for freely offered knowledge, but soft, soothing mint subdued gleaming, darkening magenta.
Four was grateful.
Now was not the time. Not with the contents of his pack weighing so prominently at the forefront of his consciousness. Not with Wars so close, sword strapped to his back and gleaming ominously even here in the comfort of his own city.
Not with the assassination attempt that had occurred not even a day ago, putting a sharp, calculated gleam into the Captain's icy stare. A cold light that shone brightly upon all it touched, even his dearly beloved brothers. Looking for fault or guilt, even as he smiled so prettily.
"Could Cia have been here before." Four inquired with his usual calm, but for the way his heart quivered red and blue under the constricting violet haze. "She had an interest in us heros after all."
A moment of tense contemplation. And then Warriors sighed, slumping back into his chair with quiet defeat. It stabbed at Four's heart, to have put that silent, distant suffering into his brother's already wounded eyes. To sacrifice his peace of mind to ensure his own survival.
To ensure His survival.
'Vio's little secret.' Blue snarled sharply, a coiled snake tensed in its corner as Four retreated into his book once more. Not truly absorbing, merely flitting through the motions as he listened in.
Observing. Weighing the value of his many parts.
Lavender calm. 'You helped gather the pieces. Your hands are not clean.' Cold truth.
'You-'
'Please. Can we just not fight about this today? Not when we're guilty already for leaving Wild while we were stealing from Wars!' Red yelled quite suddenly, crimson dripping, splattering, searing all across the bond. Feelings of remorse so great Four nearly broke into sobs, stopped only by electric blue will and violet stoicism.
Vio and Blue stayed silent, letting the gentle wisp of green curl around thier bleeding heart. 'That's not what happened, Red. We would never have gone if we knew he'd be attacked.'
'But we did.' A whisper. 'Wars told us it wasn't safe and we still left him. If it had been someone else without experience. Twilight. Sky. Wind.'
'It won't happen again, Red! I promise you that!' Blue determination, heavy with the promise of thunderous storms.
'Yes. It was a miscalculation that won't happen again.' Cool violet easing silkily against the burning red guilt. 'We will take precautions.'
'We learn from our mistakes, as we always have. This will be no different.' Green confidence, a warm breeze clearing away the heat and cold and static charge.
'Okay.' Red sniffed, comforted. For now.
Still seated at the library table, besides the very man who may very well kill him for his transgressions someday, Four relaxed. Finally at ease within himself.
'We should tell them we can turn into a Minish.'
Four sighed, brows pinched as he felt a headache coming on. He ignored the empathetic doe eyes Sky sent his way, and War's equally sympathetic gaze.
He turned a page.

To the shadows to rest.

Not sure if Green being the new guy he's also new to DnD but either way I cant help but imagine him panicking everytime a session goes off the rails or something extreme happens (mainly to his character).
Some examples being...
Green: Wait we fell from a waterfall!? Are we dead!?
Shadow: Youre just unconscious.
Green: But how!?
....
Shadow: Roll a con save
Green: I got a 10
Shadow: Alright, the massage from the Gerudo causes you to fall asleep.
Green: Wait my friends are somewhere else and could be in danger and Im just taking a nap!? What kind of knight am I!?
....
Shadow: Green and Vio roll initiative.
Green: WHAT DO YOU MEAN WE'RE FIGHTING? ARENT WE SUPPOSED TO BE FRIENDS!?
Shadow: Consider it character development.
Vio: Do your worst Green. *smirks*
Green: *gives Red and Blue the "Help me" look*
Tumblr media
