!! CHAPTER 7 / DIASOMNIA ARC SPOILERS !!

WE CAN GET THROUGH THIS GUYS LET'S GO (Part 4):

While Silver is in the darkness, he then sees Lilia's old memories. The first one is of Lilia visiting Wild Rose Castle after a peace treaty was made, this takes place 300 to 400 years after the events of Meleanor's death

While walking through the abandoned castle, Lilia hears a cry in the throne room. He rushes there to find a baby, and not just any baby IT'S BABY SILVER WHICH REVEALS THE FIRST CG IN THE GAME 🥹

(SILVER BEING TWISTED FROM AURORA IS REALLLLL)

Of course Lilia wondering why the hell is there a baby in the abandoned castle uses his Unique Magic on it. Thus revealing his UM "Far Cry Cradle", this allows him to see the past memories of someone who gets hit with the spell. This is how he finds out that the baby is actually the son of the Knight of Dawn and Princess Leah, while the war was happening 3 fairies blessed the baby by making him sleep through the war, even if it will last 10 to 100 years (well it went beyond 100 years). Once the little prince finds someone who loves him (or in other words true love), he will awaken from slumber; AND IT WAS LILIA WHO APPEARED WHICH CAUSED BABY SILVER TO WAKE UP WHICH IM JUST AAAAAAAAAA 😭😭😭

We can't forget that present time Silver is watching all of this happen, and noticed Lilia having mixed feelings about the whole thing. He (Lilia) tries to kill the baby after finding out he was the child of the enemy, but couldn't bring himself to do it. Lilia then asks himself if he can even love a human being? After losing his loved ones to them, and everything that happened. Which causes Silver to scream at Lilia that he doesn't deserve love (STOP SILVER IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT)

Lilia then tells baby Silver that the day he finds him will be his birthday (which is May 15th), and blesses him. This explains why Silver has silver hair despite being born blonde. Lilia also names the baby Silver because of the moon that shines through the night, which serves as a light to light up the path

We then move to another flashback, now this time it features Malleus. We see the cottage that present time Silver grew up in (which is like the cottage from the movie)

While Lilia is singing a lullaby to baby Silver (the same one Meleanor sang to egg Malleus), Malleus comes in cuz he overheard from the fairies that Lilia found a human. Then Malleus proceeds to call baby Silver A NAKED MONKEY CREATURE NAHHH 💀🤚

We also have to remember that Lilia didn't know shit about taking care of a human, much more a baby, so he visits Baul's daughter and son-in-law (Sebek's Mother and Father) for advice. Lilia then tells Malleus he's going out to get baby supplies and leaves Malleus with Silver, but Malleus is afraid that he might destroy Silver if he holds him (aww that's cute 🥹) but Lilia still leaves him behind regardless

Baby Silver wakes up to Malleus and starts crying and Malleus is now wondering if lullabies can help put it (yes he referred to the baby as "it") to sleep. He then hums to the baby the only lullaby he knows, which is the same lullaby is mother sang to him (I forgot to mention that whoops). This is the same lullaby Malleus sang when he placed the sleeping curse on everyone in part 3. Baby Silver falls asleep to it and Malleus is relieved, hoping for Lilia to come back soon but also wonders where he heard that lullaby before

We then see more flashbacks of Silver growing up, from his first time walking and his first words (which is "Dada/Father")(Edit: got this wrong by accident sorry guys). We also learn more about faes from here as well, it takes 30 years for a fae child to learn how to walk, but for the case of Malleus it took him 20 years to have a 2 legged form

Malleus then asked Lilia why he decided to take the baby in and Lilia respond that Malleus's father, Leverne said that Fae and Human should learn more about each other, thus learning a language that humans can understand. Lilia wants to learn how to love humans through Silver, but Malleus is like "but what if you can't", he replies with "let's not jump to conclusions"

STOP YOUNGER SILVER CALLS LILIA "TOTO" MY HEART CAN'T HANDLE THIS. WE ALSO FIND OUT THAT THE ACORN BRACELET WAS SILVER'S GIFT TO LILIA (since it symbolizes living a long and healthy life). He (Younger Silver) also says "I love you Toto!" (Guys what if this my last straw 😭). One more memory we see is Silver running away from home after finding out him and Lilia aren't related (in reference to his 1st birthday card)

Back to present time Silver, he thinks that he doesn't deserve to be called Lilia's son because his true origins is that of the son of the Knight of Dawn, this causes him to take on his biological father's form and General Lilia appears before him, saying he's the enemy (BUT IT'S ALL NOT REAL)

Thus a battle between the two begins, until present time Lilia suddenly appears; telling Silver to stand up and stay alive 😭

This end Silver's segment of the story, but we can't forget about Sebek, Yuu and Grim

Like in 1993 the Looney Tunes were ~40-year-old cartoons, and in the early 2000s they still aired on Cartoon Network. A guy who's into 40 year old stuff is like a regular nostalgic guy. Garibaldi's character, however, is into 300 YEAR OLD MEDIA. 300 YEAR OLD HUMOR is his (second) favorite thing in the whole world. That's a completely different kind of guy. Imagine a guy today obsessed with stuff from the 1720s. That's a completely different kind of weirdo.

Please read the whole post before commenting. I’ve never made a public post like this before so bear with me if it seams long-winded.

Recently @hg-aneh has been bombarded with extremely upsetting comments since they confirmed that they do ship Crowley and Muriel.

First off, it is never okay to dog pile on someone who is not already in the wide scale public eye. Calling someone a pedophile because of fictional ships is never okay. Lashing out at someone is not going to help them see your point of view, it automatically puts them on the defense and no one makes any progress either way. If you see someone has commented the same thing you were going to say, don’t. It is a terrible feeling to see 100 notifications and know they will all be people tearing you apart.

Quelin Sepulveda is an adult. Muriel is canonically thousands of years old. They might find solace in Crowley, who I know would deeply care for them. Crowley is a character who fosters curiosity and wonder in other characters. Muriel has that inherently, and it is logical to assume that as Crowley is alone they would naturally come together in some way.

From Muriel’s perspective, Crowley is one of the first people to like them for simply being themselves. He is going to be their first constant in 6000 years that isn’t demeaning or critical. He will introduce them to earth and all the beautiful things within. (Just like he did with Aziraphale.) For the first time they will experience affection compassion; they will be important.

Crowley would have someone who needs and loves him. Muriel is also someone who isn’t critical and would see Crowley for who he really is. Muriel mirrors pre-fall Crowley in so many ways, it would be imposible for him not to care for them. They won’t shut him down like Aziraphale would, it would probably be easier to tell what they want.

Crowley also knows more about earth, heaven, and hell than any other being has except God and The Metatron. He understands the inherent traumas that heaven and hell inflict on everyone. He knows what’s coming. He knows what is at stake.

Throughout their life Muriel has only spoken to people once every 300 years. Yes they take records so they probably know some things, but only from Heaven’s point of view and without context. Most of those they do meet are unkind as they see Muriel as the lowest in their ranks. You can see how nervous they are when Saraqael brings them to speak to Uriel and Micheal about Gabriel’s matchbox. Muriel knows so little about earth that they have to be taught how to drink tea. They do not have any idea how to interact with anyone because they never got the chance to. During the season they are in an entirely new place with new people and they have no experience with any of it, so much so that they are easily manipulated twice. Once about Aziraphale and Crowley’s secret meeting, and again when Crowley gets them to “arrest” him. They don’t have enough experience to know that they even could be manipulated or abused. They think that everyone has their best interest at heart.

The knowledge gap between Crowley and Muriel’s is reminiscent of that of movies like Tron Legacy, Fifty First Dates, Fifth Element, the original Planet of the Apes, and Splash. If you have made it this far Pop Culture Detective does a great job at explaining it.

Muriel is definitely autism coded and autistic people are frequently infantilized, but most of us know basic things about the world. We haven’t been stuck in an empty room for thousands of years. It is common for those with immense trauma to find a romantic connection for the first person who was truly kind to them. That’s why doctors can’t date their patients, teachers can’t date their students, and therapist can’t date their clients. Muriel doesn’t even know what romance is or what it entails for them or Crowley. (Aziraphale has also been super autism coded this season so we don’t just have Muriel)

But that’s only the case for the current cannon. It’s okay to retcon things in your own works, to go through different scenarios with characters that would allow them to interact differently. It’s okay to wonder about different characters and see them as a couple. It’s always important to take a step back to see the whole picture before commenting on something like this. I love the Good Omens fandom, it has allowed me to be myself and meet new people. I don’t want this fandom to become a toxic place. We already have to deal with homophobia and transphobia bearing down on us from the outside. We just want to make and experience art together.

I chose to write something based off of the poem Dann gibts nur eins! by Wolfgang Borchert. As it is a German poem, I've written an English Translation in case anyone's interested. I bent the rules a little bit - it is not based on my favourite poem, but one of the most important ones I've ever read. Even though, it is not very celebratory or light hearted, I hope you enjoy it all the same.

When the army had sent people to the city hall to explain the effort and the need, to talk of  patriotic duty and the heroes they would become - to tell them why he should exchange brush for gun and hoof pick for shovel, he should have said no. 

When his brothers had made their vow to join him in his futile quest to leave his broken heart behind, offering to leave their homes and cross the sea at his side, he should have said no. 

When they told them that they would be most useful underground, digging tunnels and laying traps, catching the Germans off guard to save thousands of British lives, he should have said no. 

When Churchill wanted to use his hands to force those of the Irish and the King and offered him export licenses in exchange, he should have said no. 

When they had flaunted the money in front of him - 100 000 pounds, all for some weapons in some distant war in some place no one gave a fuck about, he should have said no. 

When his factories were offered a government deal to manufacture arms instead of car parts, he should have said no. 

When Churchill saw the use in him spying on Molesley, gathering information from the inside out, he should have said no. 

When Molesley asked him join him at an event, to speak to electorates in this city, his city, who looked up to him, he should have said no. 

When he was asked to facilitate contact between the British fascists and the American ones just so he could keep Churchill informed, he should have said no. 

But he hadn’t. Not even once. 

Money and greed, imagined necessities and momentary desires had blinded him- but had he any right to claim blindness? 

Tommy knew the answer. 

He had known and done it all the same, in spite of the countless warnings. 

And now, Thomas Shelby couldn’t even look at them. 

He could not look at his son, his boy, the one he held in his arms all throughout his first night in this world, whom he clung to when the world fell apart and whom he let go when he felt the noose tightening around his neck. 

This was it now, the reckoning, the price for his sins and he knows it. 

Tommy also couldn't look at Lizzie, Lizzie who hadn't known, and yet fought like she had. 

He did not have a right to look at her, the same way he had no right to call her his. Beautiful, brave Lizzie, who was better than he was, than he had ever been. 

Lizzie, who had faced the coming storm with stoic silence and a fiery determination, who had locked herself in her office and read every last publication from the war office, every pamphlet, every page of every parliamentary decree - everything in search of an answer.

She hadn’t stopped, not to eat, not to sleep, not until she read every last option, knew of every single loophole and could explain even the most obscure alternatives. 

She had presented them one by one, like pitching a business proposition, wrapped in soft words of heroism, for what could be more heroic than the study and pursuit of saving lives instead of taking them?

She talked of family, and how he could take up a place in the management of the factories, produce ammunition instead of fire it. Or if that was not to his liking, perhaps the shipping and the cars, everything relied on movement, of goods and weapons and men and those that managed it were indispensable. 

She offered him a position in the foundation, in the same part she worked in where they made sure to evacuate as many people, as many children as possible out of the cities. 

Every single option, every single post a chance to make him essential - everything, anything, that would keep him away from the front lines, on the ground, at sea or in the air. 

As if any other son was less essential- any other father or brother. 

She presented them calmly, logically, the desperation in her heart only shining in her eyes but she did not allow it to affect her voice. 

All the while, Charlie had listened, taking in each and every option she presented to him - patiently, ardently. 

Thomas Shelby had hoped against hope, even though he had no right to, but he knew their son’s answer before spoke, as soon as Charlie got up and took Lizzie’s hands in his. 

"I'm sorry Mum,”, he said softly, “but no."

Initial Analysis of Baizhu

Well, here we go. Decided I’d take a quick look at Baizhu since we have some details about him from the Version 3.6 beta. So far he looks like a very solid support that can do pretty much anything and might be the premier option for a Dendro character with role compression when he becomes playable.

Elemental Skill

Does a pretty good amount of damage for hitting a total of three times, and also heals your entire party by a pretty significant amount. On top of that this Talent has a pretty low cooldown of only 10s, it’s overall just a really good attack. Hopefully it generates a good amount of particles as well.

Elemental Burst

This one’s pretty unique. It creates shields and heals your active character in addition to dealing damage when the shields break or are refreshed. The shields themselves are interesting as well because they’re pretty weak but since they’re always being regenerated while Baizhu’s burst is active it’s effectively the same as having a really tanky shield. You should get about five or six of them while the burst lasts, and looks like it costs 80 Energy for Baizhu.

Passive Talents

First Ascension passive gives Baizhu 20% more healing for characters below 50% HP and if your active character is above 50% HP, he gets 25% Dendro DMG instead. Pretty nice talent overall, more damage is always better.

Second Ascension passive is where the fun is at. Every 1k HP Baizhu has up to 50k will give the active character 2% more Hyperbloom, Bloom, and Burgeon DMG and 0.8% more Aggravate and Spread DMG when they’re healed by his Elemental Burst. Considering how absurdly broken Hyperbloom is and that you can in theory get a 100% DMG Bonus to it with this Talent, I would not be surprised if this gets nerfed in the beta test because damn that is way too OP.

Lastly, Baizhu has a unique exploration Talent that heals your active character by 2.5% of his HP when they harvest plants in the overworld. I like that this is something new and it’s a nice quality of life feature to keep your team healthy while exploring.

Constellations

As is normally the case with 5-Star characters, Baizhu’s C2 is pretty strong and a good stopping point for players who want to invest in him without going full whale. C1 gives his skill an additional charge, making for a comfier playstyle and enabling more damage and energy for Baizhu. The C2 performs joint attacks with your active party member every 5s, dealing a hefty 300% Dendro DMG and also healing 1/5 the normal amount of Baizhu’s skill.

C4 is a strong supportive Talent, being essentially Collei’s C4 but better as it just gives your team more Elemental Mastery.

Lastly, C6 enables DPS Baizhu and just makes his burst deal a fuckload of damage in general, with added 10% HP scaling and generating more shields which means more damage.

Overall Thoughts

Looking at that second Ascension passive, I get the impression that Baizhu is like Candace but if Candace was done right. If her similar Talent that grants bonus damage based on her HP was more universal than Normal Attack DMG Bonus with her burst, she would have been a much better and much less niche unit.

But yeah, as you can see, he’s pretty fucking stacked. Also I’m sorry, but I just have to add that it really makes you wonder again what the fuck happened with Dehya’s kit when Baizhu is apparently a god. The disparity in power level between the two of them is sobering.

Anyway, I’ll probably be doing a similar post about Kaveh pretty soon. I specifically wanted to look at Baizhu first so I can get an idea of how much I give a shit about him. I’m thinking of pulling for C1 Dehya but I wanted to make sure I wouldn’t burn too many Primogems if Baizhu was a character I wanted, especially since I’ve officially gone free-to-play and have no intention of buying the Gnostic Chorus or Blessing of the Welkin Moon.

Jealousy is a cruel thing. It can eat you from within. You were glad your girlfriend had a good relationship with her team but sometimes it felt like they meant more to her than you did; Especially with Emily Prentiss.

—A mug in hand, eyes distant and unfocused your mind kept wandering back to that stupid post, and soon the feeling would grow unbearable. Dumping out the cold chamomile tea you’d been nursing and cleaning out the mug, you wondered if JJ and Emily were close; not breaking eye contact as they chatted about a life you were fortunate enough to know nothing about, although sometimes you wished you did. Maybe then you would feel as though you were apart of every aspect in your girlfriends life.

You couldn’t help but wonder…

A notification dings from your phone and surprisingly it’s a text from Jennifer, you heart races with excitement hoping it’d be a message to say she’d be home soon; they’d closed the case. It was. What followed after, however made you want to throw up.

my JJ ❤︎; hey, hun! we closed the case and i’ll be back home tonight. emily and i are getting drinks before i head back. love you!

You scoffed, your heart clenching. “Love you too” you thought, but you couldn’t help but remember to add the I beforehand. Something she seemed to drop in her little message.

It grew later and later and still there was no sign of your girlfriend, you were concerned and that creeping feeling rose up, the bile from the dinner you played over threatening to come up. That little green monster peeked in and before long you felt tears running down your cheek; fearing the worst. Then your phone dings and you hoped it was Jennifer, you knew it wouldn’t be but you hoped it was.

I don’t know why I agreed to this, the night was still going and drinks were going round the table but my mind sat approximately 15 minutes away at home with Y/n. I missed her, her touch set my skin aflame and yet I ditched her for cheap beers in a seedy biker bar with Emily, Tara, and Garcia. Rossi, Morgan, and Reid were playing pool; Kate ditched us for Megan and her husband and Hotch had ditched us for Jack and Beth, something I wish had done instead of feeling guilty when I hadn’t seen Y/n in awhile. Two weeks to be exact- Other than a rushed goodbye kiss before the case we’d just closed swept me away.

My phone dings and I was hoping it was Y/n so I had an excuse to ditch the drunken women laughing loudly at the crappy scratched and way too small table we sat at. Instead it was an instagram notification, for Y/n.

Two new posts of hers pop up on my screen. I wasn’t sure how to feel.

The first post I didn’t think a thing of, Marjai was her twin sister and I knew she meant the world to Y/n; Then there was the second post. I knew who Bella was- One of Y/n’s longest and closest friend, my stomach tightened looking at the photo, Bella’s hand on Y/n’s ass. I sighed, locking my phone. Wracking my brain with overthinking…That’s when I remembered.

Why was Y/n sad enough that she needed to go out to cheer up? Retracing the steps of that day, nothing stood out; Wait…I turned my phone back on going to Garcia’s post of Emily and I from earlier- My heart sank when I realized Y/n had liked the post.

Y/n wasn’t a jealous person, but that post was something else. I hadn’t exactly told them Y/n and I were dating, valuing the separation of the intensity of my job and the calmness of my life with Y/n.

Guilt was eating me alive. I was wrong to let the team think I was available for so long, to let the idea of Emily and I dating fester. Everyone seemed to think she and I were in love, but that was far from true; I needed to fix this.

“Hey, let’s dance” I look up to see Emily, and I wish I could muster a smile but I couldn’t. Not when I thought there was some truth to the rumors of our love- I was sure she loved me, and even as a profiler and former press liaison, I was stumped on how to address this. Had I been leading her on?

“Um, actually. I thought it was time to head home. I know I’m your ride, sooo”?

I don’t know why I agreed to be the designated driver for her when a perfectly sober Reid and Morgan were still there to take the others home.

Hopefully, It wouldn’t be so awkward now that I know what I know.

Marjai and Bella’s attempts to cheer me up had worked for a bit, until I saw the second post. I wanted to go home, sob into my pillow, yell at Jennifer. My mind wanders, and being only three drinks in- It was time for me to leave. Sending a text to our groupchat, I depart. Ready for home and to cuddle Jennifer and I’s pets till I fall asleep, my tears dampening their fur.

The lights dim, you could smell that familiar mango shampoo in the air; You weren’t ready to face tonight. To admit you did get jealous, and that you saw how much Emily meant to her— That it hurt like hell.

Chewing on your bottom lip, you slip off your heels, and that’s when you hear her footsteps coming to meet you in the living room; You gulp.

“Y/n”.

“JJ”.

It stung, you didn’t call her JJ, you called her Jennifer, Jage, Anything but JJ. You told her it felt too common to be special, you adored her name and giving her little nicknames you liked to come up with. JJ was for everyone, but Jennifer Jareau was for you. Or at least you thought so.

“So, Bella”?

You could feel the tips of your ears going red at the shamelessness of her question, the audacity to ask such a thing after that second fucking post. The first was innocent enough, but that second one had slowly ripped your heart out, “No. You don’t get to ask that, JJ. Not after tonight. Not after Emily”.

You tried to separate yourself from the situation, fearing your emotions if you didn’t, but it looked as though Jennifer wouldn’t let you, she followed behind you to your shared bedroom, still talking. Still accusing. And all you could think about was that fucking post.

“Emily? She’s just a colleague, and you know it. I don’t let her grab my ass though. Do I”?

You spun around to look at her, tears pricking at the edge of your eyes as your mind recalled the posts, the way she’d drop anything for Emily; Even when she hadn’t seen you for awhile.

“You don’t. You also don’t help make your sister jealous so she finally understands that she’s just as in love with your bestfriend as your bestfriend is in love with her. You don’t get tagged in a post of them afterwards and get thanked for it either. Do you”?

You held your phone up to JJ, a post displayed on the screen that made JJ feel like a jackass.

She sounded broken, on the verge of tears, and I was filled with immense regrets about my friendship with Emily; For so long I thought we’d had a sisterly bond, and now she felt comfortable enough to think I was her girlfriend, when I had the world in front of me. I wasn’t intestered in losing that.

“I-I swear I didn’t know she posted that, I don’t like her. I promise, Y/n. I’m only for you”.

She nods, fighting back tears. Retreating to the couch, I followed her like a lost puppy, one guilty of eating their owners slippers; I basically was in the moment.

“Are you? Maybe you don’t love her or like her back, I believe you. But I can’t help but think she’s more important to you than I am, Jaje”.

I try to speak but she cuts me off with a shake of her head, “You were quick to ditch me for her after not seeing me in two weeks when she gets to see you more than I do. You were quick to postpone our date to go help her move into her new house when the rest of the team was there to help. Maybe, I’m not apart of this profiling FBI world, but I wish I’d be able to take a peek into it. For you to show me all of you. To make me as much of a priority as she is. Kissing your hand, she shakes her head as if to say, “I’m way luckier”.

Then when I was writing the actor AU I really got locked into writing it in order, which caused a problem when I got blocked at the start of ch14 and couldn't seem to make myself jump ahead and come back to it for some reason. So I wondered if my style had changed, but then hockey BF Henry was written in 150-300 word snippets completely out of order, which I then had to wrangle into some semblance of a consistent emotional arc lmao.

20. Do you prefer writing AUs or canon fics?

Oh lord don't make me choose. They're so good for different reasons! This NEVER used to be the case in other fandoms but in RWRB specifically I might, surprisingly, have a slight preference for AU? I do so deeply enjoy putting these two in Situations.

Every time. EVERY TIME I do one of these memes there's at least one point where I stare at my 224 AO3 works and think 'why do I do this to myself?'

It'll change from day to day, for sure. Right now, today, this minute, it's probably the celebration of Henry's Oxford slut phase, because y'all know how I feel about that lol. But it will 100% change day to hour to minute.

For Schitt's Creek it's probably the 'Patrick's feelings about the word queer' fic. The outpouring of love and queer feelings in the comments was humbling.

Anon here, hi! Sorry to be that person because I’m sure you get these a lot but I was wondering if you could do a tutorial on how you do your colorful gradients. My gifs only turn out right when I use the colors black and white or the color black with another color and I never really master using any other colors other than those. There was gifset in particular that I was looking at by you that I will link below. Sorry to be a bother! Hope you are doing well.

hi nonnie!! dont worry at all you're not bothering!! i’ll explain how to do it below!!

let’s say you have your gif ready, brightened and with contrast etc

i picked this scene because the background is white, which makes it easy because it’s basically a canvas :) but it works on a dark background too!*

the first step now is to color the background and set the layer to multiply!

i set it to 20% to 50% since i do it a little messily and this makes it less noticeable. as you can see, i colored a bit of her clothes too, because they have a lot of white and i don’t want that part to be bright

i did a second layer and set it to multiply too, this time in 100%

for this the gif has to be moving very little!! in the max gif set, she moves her head a bit, but that’s okay because i used the same color for the bg as her hair, which is hard when you are using blue. you can always do coloring frame by frame or use keyframes, but i like it this way!

next, you’ll color the background again, and set the layer to color:

now the background is entirely blue! now, for the gradient effect, i use a darker shade of the color i’m using, in this case, a darker blue. i use a 500 size brush and only color the bottom. this layer is set to multiply: 

but to make the gradient even more noticeable, i add another layer (with the original bright blue), and this time i set it to linear burn:

i colored her arm because this time it would be too hard to avoid, but usually i color over clothes and no skin :) 

now for the brighter colors, i use a smaller size brush, 150 - 300 to lighten the corners, setting the layer to lighten of course, but only to 20% or 30% 

*if you were using a dark background, you will want to use a bigger brush, around 500 or 600, because this is to cover the shadows, and in a dark bg everything would be shadow so this is useful to make it brighter! 

see how the dark tiles behind her look now:

the difference is slight but i find it helpful so the shadows are easier to remove! now the next layer, which i set to lighten and 100%, looks like this on top of that:

when it comes to the blending mode lighten, i don’t like to touch the shadows of her hair for example, because it usually decreases the quality or makes it look grainy in those parts, but that’s just personal experience 🤷‍♀️

then you add a layer of hard light and NOW you can touch the shadows, it’ll make them look blue-ish in this case:

and lastly, the same layer, but set to screen:

and that’s kind of the cherry on top when you’re going for a gradient effect! to me it’s all about making the bottom dark and the top light or vice versa, either way, it looks really nice! i really hope this is helpful because i struggle a bit to explain things like this, but i broke down every layer so it was understandable and easy to follow. if you had any questions i’ll be happy to answer them!!

So, you wanna prep for Diavolo's birthday huh? Smart!

Dia's birthday falls on Halloween, which means it'll be around that time that the event will drop (as Mammon's was Sep 10th but the previous events started before, to allow replay ability) So I’d look for it about Mid October to be honest. 

After Mammon's event and the regular crammed in scheduling of events--you’re probably wondering how much Ap, Dp and D-Energy you're going to need in advance, and how much of each you can get if you decide to skip out on the events upcoming (since more than likely they will end up in LD in due time anyway)

So, let's get into the math

Excuse my typo and let's see: 51 days until Halloween (I wrote this on Sep 10th) Mammon’s Birthday Event lasts until the 16th. That means there’s really only 44 Days. **less than that because--I just don’t know when exactly**

Let’s see how you’d stand if from the 17th on you didn’t use anything and just saved it until Oct 31st

(you can adjust the dates with equations found at the bottom of you want an even more accurate look at numbers once the event is announced)

DP: Mainly what you’ll want to save to make up the missing needs when its time

You get 18 free DP a day by completing 7 items on your Daily To Do List

18 Free DP a Day * 44 Days = 792 DP 

Now this means you’d be missing out on any Nightmare events that happen between Sep 16- Oct 31 unless you have DV to use instead, if you use any--the calculation will be off--so make sure to do your own and double check your numbers! 

AP: *You would have to either avoid battling until then, so it saves on top, or do just enough battling to clear your Daily To Do List (DTDL) and suffer a little bit less. Remember, idk what you are capped out at, or what you want/are going to do--so make sure you do your own calculations for personalization! 

Your AP bar reflects what level you are, and you’ll cap out at 100 (meaning that each day you login after being away--you will auto hold 100, if you have 100 and are gifted 200 for the event from the Devs **which they usually do!**, then you can have 300--but once you use that 300, it’ll cap back out at 100) 

You have a chance at 210 free AP a day if you complete all the available ways to do it

Fridge Mission: 60 AP (30 twice)

AP to Friends: 50 (if all send back) 

Daily To Do List: 30 (10 three times)

**Ads to watch: 50 (5 vids at 10 each)

**Surprise Guest Gifts: 20 (10 twice)

as you know, in order to get the ads and the surprise guest gifts--you have to battle, which means you’ll use AP tp do, so in the end you really only have a chance at 140 if you’re avoiding using any before the event. 

You can count on the full 210 (**plus the 200 if you use 10DP to buy 200 AP the first time you run out every day of the event, it’s better than buying AP individually for 10AP for 1DP)  

Even so: 

140 AP available a day * 44 days =6,160 AP 

You won’t receive a timer to stack AP if you’re already full--so you can only count on the logining in and doing things to grant you more AP than your cap. 

If you don’t login from now until Dia’s birthday, you’ll miss out on everything free and still only have whatever your max amount given a day is (50-100). So just avoiding the game isn’t going to help out any, the timer only activates when you drop under your cap (if you’re capped at 50, it’ll start at 45 etc) 

It takes 5 mins for 1 AP to refill, so if you are capped out at 100, it’ll take about 8 or so hours fore it to refill totally (meaning you can have 2 full refills a day if you keep a timer and are able to login and use it all)  

SO

we should figure out when they’re doing his event before it happens, so we’ll know exactly when it drops and can adjust our numbers by replacing the days until the event # and it’ll adjust our saved amount: 

18 free DP a day * X days until Dia Event = Y amount of DP saved 

140 Free AP * X days until Dia Event = Y Amount of AP Saved

*just in case you cave and cant go without the current event or Nightmare that comes after Mammon’s birthday 

That would help out A LOT when you’re trying to do events, but with the way they’re steamrolled through Obey Me, it’s impossible to save that much--it’s designed to make you spend money in game to help support it. 

Now how can we know how much of each we’re going to need? 

Well, since I can’t look into the future to tell exactly how many stars will be on page 1 and 2 (there’s a slight chance, there might even be 3), we can only go based off of other birthday events and past used numbers. 

Usually there are anywhere from 36-39 stars on Page 1 and usually 42-45 on page 2. And the event usually runs about 6 days for birthdays and 11 for story events. 

I’m going to use Mammon’s numbers as a base since it’s the active one right now. (if you’ve ready my mammon 22 guide, then you already know this and can just skip it, but there’s equations at the bottom you can use for anyone’s B-Day!)

*You can adjust these by looking at the number of stars given on each page, that’s how many individual battles there are

**You can gain 3 stars per battle stage and you can do a stage 3 times--so its the same! If there happens to be a third page, simply add those stars in with everything on Page 1 and 2, plus the ad battles for a new total! 

Total battles: 83 a day

83 battles a day * 6 days = 498 battles total 

8 AP per battle * 498 Battles = 3,984

Now, you’ll need 8,000 party crackers to clear the UR card ONCE (to max it out, you’d need 33,500) 

You’ll get 12 Dia Party Crackers a battle (there are no cheat cards for birthdays and no boosted days either, so 12 is all you get) 

12 * 498 = 5,976 Dia Party Crackers if you clear every single battle every single day and do no more. but that will leave you 

8,000 - 5,976 = 2,024 party crackers short

2,024 short / 12 per battle = 169 battles short 

169 battles needed / 3 per D-Energy = 57 D-Energy Used to clear

57 times buying Battles * 5 dp per time = 285

So, in the end you’ll need either 57 D-Energy or to use 285 of your DP Reserves (918 if you remember!) to clear all the battles needed

Now about that AP...

169 extra battles needed to clear + 498 battles given over the course of the event = 667 battles 

667 battles * 8 ap each = 5,336 

RECAP Birthday Equations: 

18 free DP a day * X days until Event = Y amount of DP saved

140 Free AP * X days until Event = Y Amount of AP Saved

The towering cities were seemingly erased overnight, along with the documentation of their technology. The world presumably became an unkempt wilderness, as if all of humanity and its creations never existed. The surviving humans, stubborn and unwavering, began to build settlements. Humans from all walks of life banded together in the aftermath to bring back what they could. The result of their efforts cannot be understated. Three hundred years later, Pokeballs, Pokemon centers, and PCs are all back. A gym system is beginning to emerge - although without an organized League, badges aren't much except a flex. There's beauty in this new world, sunflower in a sidewalk crack - small towns provide free healing, places to stay, and friendly company. The world is tame once again, but not domesticated - just outside the borders of these towns lies swathes of untamed wilderness, so vast that some of the Pokemon within them have never laid eyes on a human settlement. The legendries once revered have not been seen for ages. The world feels strange, now, but it is kind - we will make it so.

hey!! ive been following trt for a while now but just barley worked up the courage to send you an ask! I was just wondering, what's it like having so many people read and be invested in trt? Personally, i've seen a lot of people on tumblr and tik tok (sometimes even twitter) talking about your fic. I think it's so cool that it's gained this much traction. Is it something you think about a lot? Or does it not even feel real?

And to answer the question, it's really strange and really DOESN'T feel real tbh. When I started I figured maybe a few people would read it, since it wasn't a huge ship (around 300 or 400 fics on AO3 iirc). I was even advised by other fic writers, 'no one will read that kind of fic, so don't bother' hilarious in hindsight. On previous fics in other fandoms, even much larger ones, I'd get a couple thousand hits, maybe a couple hundred kudos outside one or two fics that did a little better, so that was like my best-case scenario - but my guess was it would be closer to a couple hundred hits, maybe some a little over 100 kudos if I wrote it long enough. I didn't even bother with a tumblr for it at first cause I figured there'd be zero people interested enough in it to talk to. I just kinda... figured I'd put my heart into it anyway because I loved Matt and the Daredevil world, and wanted to tell this sort of story after my friend challenged me to try writing a 2nd POV fic and I got the idea for TRT.

And now TRT is this - like you said, it's people mentioning it on tumblr and tiktok (and apparently twitter too which I did NOT know, holy shit). There's fanart and more kudos and hits than I ever expected. Someone got a tattoo! People are printing it for their shelves! And I still have exactly zero idea how it all worked out the way it did. The investment is wild, and even if I'm still baffled because how??? I'm also so, so ridiculously happy because I love Matt and Jane and Team Nelson and Murdock and Ciro and the thread world. I've come to love this story so much, and its journey, and all the readers, and so having that love reciprocated and shared just fills every last inch of my writer soul with joy. <3 So I definitely think about it a lot, even if it feels like I'm dreaming.
