Complicated Relationship with God (As Seen Through Lyrics in the Character's Playlist)

The parallel between Sokka and Tenzin as their fathers' sons.

Sokka, left at 13 as his father and all the other men head off to war. Hakoda tells him "being a man is knowing where he's needed the most" and he needs to protect his sister, his home.

Tenzin is the second airbender. He is also half water tribe, he's a man. When Aang dies, he will be the last airbender. He understands what he needs to do.

Untold amount of pressure and responsibility have been thrust upon them by their fathers. Though, I believe it is not all intentional, but the unfortunate circumstance of being the fathers of sons who take responsibility incredibly seriously.

In Sokka's case, "protect your sister" is a vague instruction. It was meant to give him purpose, to help him feel okay about being left behind, He is too young for war, his father does not want to bring his child to slaughter. But Sokka will die with purpose. He will train the children of his tribe so they will be protected, he will face a fire nation ship until his last breath. He cannot go to war, but Hakoda did not see that war was all around them. In trying to give Sokka purpose, Hakoda put their world on his shoulders.

We do not get to see Aang be a father (in the TV shows), but we know he had hopes for the future. All his children were air nomads, and the air acolytes brought his culture back, but Tenzin could bend. This part of their culture is one ONLY they share. I do not think Aang would hide this, he is joyous that he gets to share his culture. When he feels respected, he always is, he taught the air acolytes after all. Off handedly, he could say, "I'm hopeful for a future where there are lots more air benders," and that, which feels mostly innocuous to him, is the nail in the coffin of Tenzin's fate. He is Avatar Aang's son, and the future of the air benders. It would not matter that Aang meant a future in generations. Tenzin sees the responsibility and it's his. He is his father's only air bending child, he knows what he needs to do.

Being a parent is not understanding the way the things you say harm your children. Even those things that feel innocuous in the moment can be life altering. Especially the more the child respects the parent. Purpose and Hope for those with a broader perspective, can be death sentences to a life that could have been when expressed to those who idolize the former.

okay heres what happened: i'm at the library and see her reading a book at a table, flat down, cover against it and everything. right. so i walk over to her to just be friendly and greet her, but she doesn't notice me until last second and proceeds to frantically try and cover the words(??), which accidentally ends up with her knocking it off the table and right next to me

obviously, i pick it up for her. which, surprise! is heavens official blessing

(look, i don't know why I'm sorry) so by this point, she's stuttering and is desperately trying to explain herself and i'm also now trying to tell her that it's okay but then she quickly reaches out to take the book back and proceeds to slip out of her chair and crashes into me as vol 4 goes flying and the entire library is now staring at us and i'm feeling like ending my life right then and there

and then she??? just fucking bolts out of the library??? like i don't even get to apologize before she runs out of there??

so now i'm home with a (stolen???) tgcf novel in my bag and a sore back. i literally don't know how the fuck i'm going to give this back to her without making things awkward

should i just like. tell her that i read mxtx too or something?? specifically svsss???

florida!!!- definitly the best!! florence has the best moments of the album. actually intersting vocals, attitude, style, bocal beauty, and interesting music overall. just want her to sing only, feels like taylor is impeding on florence and i want florence to come back everytime she stops singing. florence actually adds flavor to this, whereas taylor is just...flat and uninteresting??? yikes

guilty as sin?- actually like it!! guitar and drum yes baby. though oh pooor little baby you desire someone else. you are now linking yourself to jesus, you're so guilty but you havent done anything. okay okay but the sound is actually good and i would listen again. the grandiose religious comparisons are a plenty on this album man

osamu who boops his nose against yours when he wakes up and right before he leaves. who knows that a kiss might just be enough to rouse you so he gives you the gentlest touch, the faintest expression of his love.

osamu whose hands are full but is so excited to see you when you drop by his restaurant for a visit. who is in the middle of pressing an onigiri together but can’t help the pull of his affection draw himself towards you and he dips at the waist to nose his way into your neck, up your jaw line, murmuring a greeting, a ain't this a surprise near your ear until he finally boops your nose with his.

osamu who can't keep his hands off you when he's had a couple of drinks. whose palms glide up your thighs and into your curves, leaving a sweltering trail in his wake. who tugs at the loop of your jeans to pull you into his lap while your mind races to keep up with his touch. whose hands are everywhere, nose rubbing against your cheek as he tilts his chin forward for a breath of your air. who is obsessed with the build up, the phantom taste of you on his lips, who knows well the outcome of this desire but wants to dangle from the precipice for just a little while longer because part of what makes a meal so great is the hunger.

so he pulls away the slightest bit with a grin when you reach for his lips and it splits wider at your needy little whine. and his hands dont stop, along your abdomen and squeezing at your waist, palms stretched so wide his index fingers are pressed against your ribs. and before you can whine one more time, he presses your foreheads together, boops his nose against yours, pushing against you so roughly you gasp, finally breathing himself to you for a kiss.
