About Deidara

i am back again with some shower thoughts about Deidara, once again, 90% headcanon and very rambly

Deidara is, in my opinion, one of the most misunderstood characters of the Akatsuki. Many paint him as an explosive (pun not intended) idiot who simps for the Uchiha. But I don't think it's so simple.

We all know Deidara heils from Iwagakure, the hidden stone village. Considering his closeness to Oonoki, Kurotsuchi and Kitsuchi, I like to think he is a direct descendant of Oonoki and related to Kitsuchi in some kind of way. Maybe a son? A nephew?

LET ME EXPLAIN:

Thank you so much to the OP who initially pointed this out, unfortunately I couldn't find their post even after 2 hours of scrolling.

Naruto, as can be seen, has full monolid eyes, making him not European looking, contrary to what many people, including myself, thought. Sasuke, on the contrary, has double eyelids, a trait seen as very desirable in Japan and other East Asian countries. Sakura has a mixture of both, a double eyelid but with visible epicanthal fold. These details all stay consistent through the manga. BACK TO DEIDARA

Living with the Tsuchikage has its perks, including wealth and leisure time. Since in Iwagakure, the Tsuchikage heil from one family and one family only, I think that from his birth, Deidara had been shaped and molded into the perfect next leader. He was given anything he desired for, he could have anything that he wanted. He was never allowed to be the kid Deidara, the one making mistakes and living in the moment, no, he had to pave the road for his future.

It was shown that Deidara does know how to make his explosions colorful, and that is mostly done by mixing the explosive substance with alkaline earth metals. Doing that requires knowledge of advanced chemistry since you need to know the ratios and mix-ins. If we take into account Onoki's Kekkei Touta, particle release, we can assume that Deidara has been tought in the natural sciences, up to the atomic level. (this is so cool in itself, he could probably explain orbital theory and quantum mechanics to you)

Deidara was 9 years old when he became a rogue ninja, having joined the Iwa explosion force at a young age and became one of its most talented members. It's making me believe he must have been a literal super genius if he managed to go that far as an elementary school kid. The name "Deidara" might be a pen name he chose for himself as an artist, and Onoki, Kurotsuchi and Kitsuchi call him that out of respect - just like Deidara always uses respectful honorifics for his higher-ups. He was raised that way.

He was used to people reacting to him with awe, whether that be the Iwa citizens treating him as royalty, or the people looking at his bombs moments before they go off. It's all he has known. So, when emotionally constipated Uchiha men come along, who don't give him the reaction he believes he is entitled to, he explodes. Literally and figuratively.

In a way, Deidara is, like so many others in the shinobi world, a child forced to grow up way too quickly, never being allowed to live in the moment, always having to think of the future. Maybe his time in the Akatsuki was the most freeing he has ever had.

Naruto Headcanons - Beauty Standards in Different Villages.

BEFORE WE START, i wanna remind the fact that not fitting these description doesnt make you ugly. It is what is considered ideal based on the village's cultural norms, history, social norms and etc.

KONOHA:

Because of the founders Hashimara & Madara's traits, like blonde hair or other flashy colors (except red) are perceived as uncommon/strange.

Over time, the standard switched from Hashirama features to Madara's.

Ironically, Konoha pumps out the most plastic surgeons than any surgeons than any other nations. Most of them operate outside the Country of Fire.

STANDARD FOR KONOHA MEN:

In the past, long hair in men was admired and desired as it signified you live long enough for them to grow. Wow! you made it this long, you must be strong but this ideal is lost as the preference shifted towards shorter haircuts.

PALE SKIN (applies to everybody), as crazy as it sounds, Konoha & Kiri are nations where social status bumps up your attractiveness but let's be real for a minute. The Hyuugas & Uchihas are upheld to such a high pedestal for their social status AND adherence to the beauty standard (pale + oval face + slim long nose)

Also if you have something with your eyes (whatever it is), it's perceived as a positive since special ocular appearances is associated with great physical stregnth.

Along with all the features previously mentioned, if you have a (face + spirit) that shines like the sun or burns like an unstoppable fire, it is considered very attractive on both genders.

Being larger is seen as a positive. it is believed that a thicker male body proves it is wealthy and well-fed. On the other side of this, skinny shaming among men is crazyyyyyyy (they don't want to leave Deidara alone). Not all men are bigger or thicker but there's high chances you'll get look down upon for being "too skinny".

if you look like you can't carry a bag of rocks, you don't fit the standard. there's a saying mentioning the need to be "build like a rock" and how its a measure of men's value based on appearance

Larger nose are liked on men, in other nanations (excluding Kumo) would cut you off the beauty strandard by this feature alone

Yes, Darker skin tones are heavely celebrated are seen as a sign of health and vigority. It is the only nation to consider this feature in its beauty standards modeled after the bloodline of the Raikage. It lead to the prevelence of tanning salons all over the country

in case you don't have it, it's still fine since Kumo is very considered of its diversity. But if you dont, please have clear skin since acne and pimples is frown upon on both genders especially among adults

Kumo has something for pale hair, the hair dye industry is huge over there.

STANDARD FOR KUMO MEN:

it may sound weird but a neat hairline. Also if you start balding, you might as well shave your whole head before being sent to bullying jail.

Strong legs are seen as the peak of mobility and aesthetic for men.

(NSFW) A large schlong. it is a feature more present among the lower caste demography and has been demonized by Yagura's regime as a mean to dehumanize this male population. Ironically, according to many traditions it is perceive as a sign of fretility and often goes hand-in-hand with the height.

author's note: this is heavily inspired by the headcanons I wrote about Gaara's ideal partner and how I imagine him being with someone, who is somehow involved in politics. I loved writing this one and I really hope you enjoy! <3

"I heard that some representatives from Suna are going to arrive today."

"Hope they got lost!", a second voice scoffed, "Desert worms coming here and begging us for help is the last thing we need. They should just burry their head in the sand and stay away from us!"

The words were followed by a choir of laughter and the sound of clinking glasses. With each step the man took, the voices grew fainter and fainter till they completely disappeared. Soon he was surrounded by silence, disrupted occasionally only by the drunken shouts coming from the nearby alleys and the soft music coming from the brothel at the end of the street.

Gaara adjusted the hood of his coat lower into his face, successfully hiding it from the passing by group of young males. For all the years he had been ruling over the Village Hidden by Sand, he never had to conceal his identity when visiting neighbouring lands. Thanks to his peaceful approach and his infamous speech during the Fourth Shinobi War, the young leader managed to build strong alliances with almost all of the Five Great Countries and their leaders.

With the exception of one - Iwagakure.

While he had somewhat friendly relations with the Tsuchikage, the attitude of the locals remained just as cold and hostile as they were before the war. Decades of betrayals and battles have resulted in a deep mistrust between the two villages, and the unwillingness of many to come and work together to fix it. Some believed that any form of union would never be possible, and even if it was, it would take many years to build.

As someone who has experienced change himself, Gaara was firmly opposing this view. Mistakes were made by the leaders in the past from both sides, but that didn't mean they had to bind the new generation to a future of hate and suspicion. So when he first received the invitation by the current leader of Iwagakure to visit the village and discuss the establishment of new trade routes, he had the clear agenda that he would visit only by himself and two members of the Council.

No guards. No warriors. Nothing that can look like a potential threat to the locals and trigger them to act irrationally.

His vision, however, was quickly shattered once he was met near the entrance of the village by a few of the Tsuchikage's guards, who warned him that there had been some civil unrest since the news of the Kazekage's visit spread around and that it is better if he remained incognito for now.

"A Kazekage should not wander the streets all by himself", the sound of your voice made his head whip toward the corner of the nearby building where he could see the outline of your walking silhouette.

"Not here anyway."

You finally made it to the well-lit part of the street where he was standing and he had the chance to take in your appearance. Much to his surprise, you were dressed in your usual white linen dress, held close to your body by a golden belt. The shiny jewelled collar, which you usually wore, was still resting around your neck, while a number of thin bracelets were covering both of your wrists.

"Councillor", he greeted with a light bow of his head, his eyes travelling from your head to your toes, before setting on your own face, "I should say the same about you. Especially given the nature of your attire."

With a tilt of your head, you looked down, one of your hands smoothing the fabric of your dress before you looked at him again with a small smirk on your lips.

"Is it not appropriate?", there was a humorous note in your tone, "I took extra care in choosing the best gowns in my wardrobe for this visit. It would be disappointing if you are finding them... unfit for the purpose."

The man before you loudly gulped, yet his expression remained unchanged. His ability to keep his composure and his face free of any emotion has always teased your curiosity and it was a personal mission of yours to make him crack.

"You are dressed beautifully as always, Councillor", he finally said, his pale eyes dancing across your figure one more time, "But I fear it doesn't do much to hide who you are or what are the purposes of your visit."

A low, playful giggle escaped your lips and you brought your hand in front of your face, successfully hiding the bottom part of it. The innocence in his question entertained you and you allowed yourself a few long seconds of silence before your replied:

"I believe there is a misunderstanding, Kazekage", with these words your clasped both your hands behind your back, before closing the distance between you, "I am not trying to hide."

A few creases appeared on the man's forehead, a sign of his confusion at your answer. He patiently waited for you to elaborate, but was met by nothing but your silence. You stepped to his left, before nodding your head toward the end of the street.

"Perhaps it would be wise for me to escort you to your hotel."

Completely ignoring your offer, Gaara couldn't help but focus on your words from a moment ago.

"The Tsuchikage's guards warned us-"

"They warned YOU", the emphasis on the last word came out sharper than expected. You took a deep breath, before you turned your head back toward him, this time a tight smile plastered on your face.

"I appreciate your concerns, Kazekage, but I believe there are no grounds for them. I have served Iwagakure for many years in the past and I am well familiar with the locals, just like they are with me. There are no doubts in my mind about my safety."

The eyes of the man narrowed in your direction and he stood frozen in his place for a while before he finally decided to follow you. Both of you fell in a comfortable tempo, neither breaking the silence.

Despite you being part of the Suna's Council for over two years now, the red-headed man had learned little about you since he met you for the first time.

Your appointment was unexpected - he was sitting in his office one day when he was called for an urgent meeting with the Elders. With many of the members either unfit to advise because of their age or the injuries they had suffered in the war, there was a great need for new Councillors to fill their positions. Gaara knew the remaining advisors had been researching and debating among themselves for quite a while now about potential proposals, so he was not surprised by the call, but rather by what followed next.

Three of the proposals he already suspected - they were the names of some of the warriors who had contributed the most to the Allied Forces' and who had an excellent record as Sand Shinobi. The young Kazekage was familiar with them all, as all of them had accompanied him during different missions in the past.

The last proposal, however, took him completely by surprise. When your name was brought the first time, he was unsure if he had heard correctly. Not only were you a foreigner, originally from distant lands far south, but you were also not a shinobi. You came from a family of farmers and did not seem to have any qualifications, yet for some reason, the Elders were quite adamant about their choice.

"Appointing someone who is not native to Suna is unheard of", Gaara protested that day, "And I am also quite unsure about her capacity and qualifications. What makes her so special that you want her to be part of the Council so badly?"

His question was answered as soon as he laid his eyes on you. Stepping into his office with the confidence of a warrior and the looks of a goddess, you demanded the attention of those around you. So when you started to explain your proposals for the establishment of new transport links, trade deals, and cultural exchange programs with the neighbouring villages, it was as clear as day to him why the choose exactly you.

Despite his years of experience as a leader of the village, Gaara was not a political strategist. He didn’t understand the art of manipulation and persuasion, instead relying on his honesty and genuine dream to one day see a united world. And while that seemed to work fine during the troubled times of war, the effect of his inspirational speeches was significantly less in times of peace. He never knew what was the cause for that, at least till he saw the ease with which you managed to persuade the whole Council to support your ideas. Including him.

The admiration of your beauty combined with your sharp mind, also came with feelings of uneasiness and suspicion. Despite your young age, you had an impressive history of serving a number of villages as an advisor, all of them which provided excellent recommendations based on your diplomacy. You seemed to have achieved an impressive record as a state politician, even though you lacked any experience in the battlefield.

“Something troubling you, Kazekage?”, your words brought him back to reality and he looked at you, his jaw working while he tried to gather his thoughts.

“Where does your loyalty lie?”

The question fell out of his mouth before he could think of a less direct way to ask what had been weighing on his mind. You froze in place, your eyes moving toward him, slightly narrowing. His expression also changed and his posture became tense, almost as if he had surprised himself by voicing his thoughts out loud. “I don’t believe in loyalty”, you said with an even tone, focusing your attention on the road ahead again, “Only in doing the right thing in the name of the people’s safety and well-being.”

The answer you offered was not one Gaara was satisfied with. His lips twisted in a scowl and he sped up his step, so he could be shoulder to shoulder with you.

"Thinking of others before yourself is a noble way to live", he reached for his hood and slid it down his head, before ruffling his red locks with his fingers. The smell of his cologne suddenly hit you and you took a deep breath, trying to resist the urge to close the distance between you. You must have been pretty distracted, as his next words almost startled you:

"But I am afraid it will not suffice as proof that it is the interest of my people that you are having in mind."

Closing your eyes, you let out a dry chuckle before stopping in your tracks. His lack of trust did not come as a surprise, you knew about it for a long time. What amused you, however, was how long it took for him to say something about it.

Ever since you became Councillor, the young Kazekage always eyed you with a dose of suspicion. His eyes followed your figure's every movement when you were in a room together and while he thought he was secretive about it, you knew he had been trying to dig into old archives about your past and the work you have done for other villages.

You had no right to blame him. He was looking after the safety of his village, after all. In his position, you wouldn't trust a foreigner who was already an advisor to some of his past rivals, too. Yet you find it a bit ironic, considering he was once the biggest threat to the community he is trying to protect today.

"Nothing more to say?", he stopped next to you, his light eyes boring into yours. You offered a small smile, before making a step forward and leaving just a tiny gap between your bodies. Your fingers reached to his chest before adjusting the little strap that held his coat closed. You could feel his breath hitch under your touch and you had to bite your lip in order to prevent the smirk from spreading on your face.

"Oh, I have plenty to say, Kazekage", you said, before tilting your head to the side and lifting your gaze to the flashing sign above your heads, "But sadly time is not on our side. We have arrived at our destination."

Gaara followed your stare, only to find that you were already in front of the hotel where he was arranged to stay. The building looked old and in poor condition but per the request of the Tsuchikage himself, the red-headed man had to stay there for at least a few days till the officials dealt with the threats made by some of the locals.

While he tried not to question the judgment of the Iwagakure's leader, a tight knot of worries started to form in his stomach, once his eyes met the hostile glares of a few men standing near the entrance of the building. You must have noticed it too, as you made sure to stop near the door and wait for him to enter first, your expression hardening.

Once you entered, you were immediately met with the strong smell of smoke mixed with dust. The lighting was so dim, Gaara had to squint his eyes in order to make his way to the reception. There, sitting on a high wooden chair, was an old woman, who looked at her chipped nails with disinterest, her lips sucking a hand-rolled cigarette.

"Good evening! I have a reservation under the name of-"

"We have no rooms", she growled, not even looking at him. The man blinked a few times, clearly taken aback by her attitude, before trying again. He cleared his throat, before pressing his lips into a thin line.

"There is a room already booked-"

"I said we have no rooms", she interrupted him again, spiting the already burning filter out of her mouth and finally turning her attention to him. Her small yellow eyes scanned him up and down before her expression twisted into a disgusted grimace.

"We don't provide shelters to demons, especially if they come from the Sand."

You watched the interaction from a distance and judging by the attitude of Gertri, the woman who had worked the old boring job of a receptionist for years now, she had not noticed your presence yet. Neither had the few shinobi, who had abandoned their game of cards on one of the lobby tables and were now slowly walking toward the front desk, their hands placed on their weapon pouches in case the situation escalated.

The pale eyes of the Kazekage subtly moved around, noting every single one of the people who were approaching. His fingers twitched under his coat, the cork of his small gourd already gone. He clenched his jaw, deciding to give diplomacy one more try, before he strikes.

"There seems to be a misunderstanding. Your leader himself has arranged my accommodation here."

"You heard the lady!", one of the male shinobis that have appeared hissed, "There is no misunderstanding! Now go away before we make you!"

The low chuckle that sounded past your lips made everyone turn around and you finally stepped into the low lighting of the lobby lamp, with a small bounce in your step.

"Is that a way to show Iwagakure's hospitality, Gertri?"

The woman narrowed her eyes at you, but eventually lifted her hand and waved it, signalling the shinobi to go back to their original places. With hesitation, they agreed.

"We offer no hospitality to those who wished for our death just a few years ago."

You hummed, dragging your forefinger across the surface of the desk before lifting it and inspecting the heavy amount of dust which you had collected on it.

"Do you remember when this place was about to be shut down?", you asked, lifting one of your brows, "And the Council voted last minute to change its tax laws, so you can keep this... business or whatever you call it."

The more you talked, the deeper the woman's frown became to the point her mouth was twisted way down to her chin. Gaara stood next to you, his fingers still in position to attack any second.

"Our debt to you was paid once we agreed to provide a roof over your head", her angry stare moved to the Suna's leader, a loud exhale passing through her nostrils, "But when it comes to him - there are no free rooms!"

You looked over your shoulders to the young man, noting his tense posture. Finally, with a small nod, you moved away from the desk and started walking toward the stairs.

"Very well then", you said, waiving your hand next to you, "As you have no availability, the Kazekage will stay with me for the night."

"What? You can't just-"

Not giving any chance for a reply, you turned on your heel and made your way up the stairs. For a few seconds it was all silence behind you, till finally you heard the sound of rushing steps and a large hand wrapped around your wrist.

"What do you think you are doing?", Gaara scolded you, a light blush creeping up his neck, "This is totally inappropriate! Do you even realise the position you are putting us in?"

He looked at you with annoyance and all you could give in response was a slight roll of your eyes before you snatched your hand away. Walking a few more steps up to the second floor, you started walking down the corridor, leaving the angry sand shinobi behind.

"Are you listening to me?"

Letting out a tired sigh, you stopped in front of your door, before finally looking at him.

"Are you more worried about your reputation than your safety?"

The man watched you taking out your keys, before entering the room. He switched his body weight from foot to foot, wondering if he should follow you or go back to the ground floor and somehow attempt to secure himself the room that he was promised.

Hesitantly, he choose the first option.

"I know how to handle myself, Councillor."

Humming under your nose, you started to undo the bracelets from your wrists. Gaara used your distraction to look around the room. It was wide, yet almost bare - there were only one double bed in the middle of it with two nightstands on each side, a small coffee table in one of the corners, and a big old rug, covering the majority of the concrete floor. The walls were grey and cold, making the whole space appear darker than it actually was.

"You can call me by my name. We are going to share a bed, after all. No need for formalities", you joked, putting the last of your jewellery on your nightstand and moving toward him. Stopping just a few steps away, you eyed his crossed arms, before meeting his soft glare.

"You are a great leader, but a poor politician. The majority of people here are not the warriors you were fighting side by side with - they are civilians, who have suffered generations by the conflicts between Iwagakure and Suna. If you think that they are just going to provide you with shelter for the night and let you rest peacefully, I am sad to inform you that you are greatly mistaken."

You turned your back toward him before moving to the other side of the bed. Pulling the strap of your dress down, you exposed your bare shoulder to him and you could hear his feet shuffling, a sign he probably had turned away from you.

"You can either roam the streets of the village by yourself all night, hoping nobody will ambush you, or stay here, rest, and think of a solution tomorrow."

There was silence and you knew he was thinking over his options. The receptionist was unwilling to cooperate and if he went back downstairs, the conflict was bound to escalate. He couldn't roam the village at this point of the night either - the risk of encountering unfriendly locals was too big.

Finally, he sighed, looking around the room to find a spot where he can lay down.

"I... um, I will sleep on the floor."

You couldn't help but laugh at his words. Lifting your legs onto the bed, you threw the blanket over your body, while your hands worked at the pins holding your locks up.

"Or you can come here - there is enough space for both", one of your palms made its way to the covers next to you and patted the space, "It's not like we haven't shared a bed before... Kazekage."

Gaara froze at your words and you could hear him slightly choking on his saliva. Smirking, you looked up, only to find him staring at you with wide eyes and flushed cheeks.

"That was a one-time mistake."

Your brow quirked.

"Okay, two-time mistake."

With an amused smile, you lay down, turning toward the wall instead.

"Goodnight, Kazekage! Rest well."

Maybe it was the low tone you said it with, or the sudden flash of memories he got from the time spent with you, but something made him walk over to the bed and sit down. He removed his cape and started working on his shirt, while he debated internally if he really needed sleep at all. Maybe, he could just stay awake all night and... well, probably try not to overthink the hold you had on him.

It was not right for a man of power like him to be so easily seduced. But as he watched his community flourish as a result of your ideas and charm, he found himself unable to say "no" to anything you suggested. Even when you invited him to share your bed in front of others, who were surely going to spread the "news" of such a political scandal first thing tomorrow.

He finally laid down, his forearm resting at the top of his head, while he stared at the grey ceiling. The rhythmic sound of your breath started to calm him and he closed his eyes, the corners of his mouth twitching up once he felt your body twisting toward him. He mirrored your movement, but did not dare to reach out to you, despite his increasing want to do so. Maybe one day this was going to be more than just a mistake.

Sasusaku Blank Period Headcanons #2

As an introvert, Sasuke prefers to keep his thoughts to himself most of the time. that's why he got a travel journaling book. He likes to document his journey while travelling. Although, a large part of it filled with his feelings and and thoughts about Sakura.

It's not like the complete and complicated journaling book that the healthcare industry is currently developing to improve one's mental health. Sakura told him a bit about those tools, she's a therapy clinic founder after all. However, Sasuke just can't imagine if he has to use all the mental health tools all the time, especially not when he's working. Because he's just used to all of his occupational struggles and pressures.

There's a section in the journal that looks more like a collection of love letters. Sasuke usually just pour his beating heart out without thinking much about grammatical errors. It's filled with thoughts about the people he loved, unfiltered without the worry of getting embarrassed. Unless of course someone caught him writing those, or simply read the content.

There's one night when Sasuke and Sakura had to stop inside of a cave because the weather in the Land of Water mostly consist of rain. They spent a peaceful night there, with Sakura fell asleep fast. Sasuke sat beside her, and after his lone hand brushed over her hair to gesture her good night affectionately, he reached for his travel book.

He flicked open a page where a small pink tab sticked on it. There's a large title called "For Sakura - 1" on the very first page of the section. Sasuke flipped again, to one, two, three, five pages later. He was then marking down the sixth page, a blank page yet to be filled. He wrote down the same title that he wrote 5 times from the previous 5 filled pages. Sasuke then also wrote current date on the top right of the page.

Today we have reached the Land of Water. It feels like spring here. The weather somehow always has the hint of humidity and gentle breeze. It's always remind me of you, Sakura. She didn't know there was a book beneath it so the book fell down near her knees. Out of curiosity, she read the content when her eyes catched her name on one of its pages.

Sakura then tried to muffled her tears after reading it, trying to not wake the light sleeper Sasuke.

Since we've been talking about the twins recently, lets go with Kaia's feeling about Deidara. Girl defiantly had a rose-tinted glasses view of her brother when she was younger. She idolized him. He encouraged her art, even when it became destructive, unlike others. In her eyes the positives outweighed the negatives. Unfortunately, that caused her to be naive. Heavily headcanon that Dei grew bitter over the fact that while he was berated for his artistic ability, Onoki praised and encouraged Kaia. She may have as troublesome as her twin at times, but she had a better perception on what was important and not let her goals and ambitions cloud the bigger picture. I also feel like he did it mainly because he didn't to risk her turning out like Deidara. Kaia was confused and overwhelmed when Deidara started to be cold and distant with her around the time he defected. The betrayal hurt her, yet filled her with so much rage. The attempt to chase him was a disaster, as her judgment was clouded. She was fully aiming to hurt, they both were. Things of course end in chaos and failure. Deidara is gone, people are hurt. The look of disappointment on Onoki's face is what really dives home the situation for her, and she is unconsolable and horrified with what she has done. This event ultimately makes her give up her status as a ninja and leave Iwagakure, moving hanano for a new start. Their reunion years later is definitely filled with tears and apologies. She hopes that they can improve their relationship again. And she absolutely adores Ame, she's so happy to find out she's an aunt!

post - canon headcanons because everyone is being funny today

to preface; it's. . . complicated about whether or not the konan vs obito fight goes down. it quite literally depends on the verse, with either gem or sage's obito. i think it's safe to say as a default, that if it does happen, she is wounded (stabbed with the broken pipe, namely) and left for dead, but obito can't quite bring himself to kill her. she recovers, albeit she forces that recovery to process faster via usage of smuggled military ration pills, which was an extremely dangerous decision. had it gone wrong, she could've entered cardiac arrest. she's very lucky to be alive, but it is not without damage. in addition to the obvious physical scars, post - war konan cannot overexert herself or even risk masive depletion of her chakra storages. where others may suffer extreme fatigue, it will undoubtedly kill her. (again, verse dependant hc)

having allied with the five kages with the proposition of 'enemy of my enemy is my friend' & 'you don't have a choice; you need me', konan has since begrudgingly earned their trust and restored amegakure's good graces with the other villages. not that she particularly cares, as she still harbors resentment to them, especially konoha and iwagakure. but, it's necessary.

konan is the leader of amegakure, her title as lady angel remains the same. she works tirelessly to rebuild her nation from the ground up. in the initial aftermath of the war, many of the other larger villages make proclamations promising to help & offer reparations, claiming it's a new beginning. many of these promises fall through, with some of the kages' support and communication efforts dwindling on their part before ghosting entirely. sadly, konan more or less expected this.

to focus on the rebuilding and betterment of her village, konan makes the drastic decision to actually dismantle the shinobi system within, such as the ridding of the literal child soldier academies. amegakure also withdraws all participation from the chunin exams because of this, a controversial choice which earns ire and suspicion from the other kages. they worry that ame is turning isolationist and 'plotting something' again. it's bullshit. again, konan expected that reaction.

if there are any akatsuki members still alive, they are welcomed to take refuge in ame, since it's unlikely their home villages will receive them. the nature of konan's relationship with them depends on the individiual. but she likes to think of this offer as the start of an apology of sorts, depending on how this member was (forcibly) recruited. but she will not hesitate to throw them out if they prove to be troublesome and threaten the ame citizens.

she suffers from survivor's guilt immensely. she also feels guilt for her participation in jiraiya's death, as she really did view him as a father figure at one point in her life. (note: my take on jiraiya & the ame orphans is more complex than what unfolded in canon; he did not purposely abandon them, to start) how does she cope? she. . . doesn't. she throws herself into distractions via work and hopes for the best!

one would think that, without nagato around anymore and prioritizing his care over her own, that konan would adapt. she does not. she continues to put others before herself and neglect herself at times, often forgetting to eat or depriving herself of sleep just because there is so much to be done. dizzy spells, headaches, or even blacking out from exhaustion at her desk are common occurences.

do not. under any circumstances. bring up nagato / the past in a means of criticizing him to her. it does not matter if your point is correct, it does not matter if at one point in this time is something she might've hotly debated with nagato when he was alive. she will always love her dearest friend and mourn that he lived a miserable life (and had to suffer a second time via edo tensei) and believes he did the best that he could when dealt with a terrible hand by life itself.

Music In The Narutoverse

I think in Kirigakure, most music that can be heard originates from either the union of fishermen or monks, as many cultures have been. wiped out due to their ongoing political unrest. As for the fishermen, some popular instruments are steel drums, which can sound like this or like this. Gamelans are often played near the temples up high in the mountains, the wind carries their sound across the village. Radios aren't really used.

Iwagakure's traditional music is very percussion heavy, using various kinds of drums and gongs. They have fallen in love with the guzheng, aka the moon guitar. Another instrument originating from there is the erhu, which Kirigakure citizens also really enjoy listening to and consider a high class/fancy instrument. These are the kind of songs Iwagakure ninja can hear in their radio, Onoki's favorite is this one. High up in the mountains, sounds like these can be heard. These horns are used to communicate between different valleys.

As a stronghold of trade, Kumogakure's music has been shaped by many cultural influences. One of the more traditional instruments in Kumogakure is the cowbell/agogo bell. Kumo citizens enjoy music from all across the shinobi world, including songs in foreign languages. As a rather technologically advanced village, it is not uncommon to hear electric guitars and synthesizers be used in their music. Here are some songs I think could be heard on the Kumo radio. As for Killer Bee, here are some of his faves.

In Uzushiogakure, an instrument that could often be heard in traditional music is the anklung, as well as the t'rung. Music was often performed for the whole village, and everyone was invited.

As for many western instruments, those have originated in the Country Of Knights. This country was only mentioned in the movies, but for the sake of it, I will consider it canon as well. While their traditional music sounded somewhat like this, sounds like these here weren't uncommon as well. It was popularized by immigrants from the country of knights.

As stated before, Madara Uchiha was a skilled pianist, his sharingan allowed him to read sheet music while playing, here are some of the pieces he played. Madara often played this piece for his siblings to make them laugh.

GALAXY BRAIN ASK STRIKED AGAIN!!! Today we will into what music/TV would be popular in each villages. Of course, each villages have diversity but just like in the real world, some things are more popular than others depending on the locations.

Are there any Music Charts/Billboard?: Each country has its chart system because each nation's taste varies a lot, hence why it is such an achievement to become relevant in a city or country outside of your own. It’s only recently that artists started going on real WORLD tours (if you exclude Itachi’s Fan meeting, you probably could count them on your hands’ fingers).  

Regardless, Konoha holds the largest music festivals. The annual Summer Music-Fest assembles the most diverse cast of artists from around the world meanwhile the largest venue ever built is in Kumo (a stadium with 90,000+ of capacity)

For the first time, a world music awards ceremony was held in Kumo but it was heavily criticized for its favoritism towards bigger nations.

KONAHA’S MUSIC TASTE:

Konoha is insanely into celebrity culture. It was kinda established by Naruto and his grandiose accomplishments during past wars, where it further spread the concept of hero/celebrity/idol/person adored by a large crowd.

Taking after their beloved founder Hashirama Senju, Konoha loooves an unproblematic singer with a fiery personality leaning towards an upbeat musical style that appeals to masses.

When I say they love someone unproblematic, I mean it. It applies to most A-List celebrities, singers, actors & etc. Their PR team operates 24/7 at an unmatched level. Talking about politics or any controversial topics is heavily restricted, hence why those who build fandoms overseas escape the censorship and have their damage control team back them up no matter what happens. Itachi is the PERFECT example of this.   

The village conserves its conservative mentality since it is way more comfortable with female performers. It’s that binary thinking where men are ninjas/at war and women are better perceived in “softer” careers.

Konoha loves bubble gum commercial pop, especially in a girl group format.

As the city evolved, you can see art academies opening to encourage the youth towards the world of entertainment (We are in a time of peace, so more career paths are available) but it’s not going to stop them from making concepts like a shinobi boy group.

Keeping their malpractice from the shinobi world, underage idols debuting in groups is not common but heavily normalized.

Actions movies painting an “heroic” narrative. They are a sucker for ninja movies especially those reenacting past events with a shit load of misinformation like downplaying the violence or certain wars. NO! The victory was not as spectacular. Stop lying, please.

Puppy love Romance movies & Drama TV series (The Korean Drama type)

Night talk shows (like The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon) are really popular along with Konoha’s Saturday Night Live but got temporary cancelled after they clowned Gaara for being soft and a “born again” pacifist. Suna took them to court over the joke and the trial is ongoing. Really ironic, because all the “jokes” about the Tsuchikage’s height or men from Kiri being gang members with massive schlongs didn’t bother anyone… oh…ok.

KUMO’S MUSIC TASTE:

Rap & Hip hop are the country’s musical pride since it sets them apart from other nations with their own billboard systems. They depends on other countries the least because they are musically self-sustained (compared to Konoha who constantly take in outside influences) and yes all these large venues fill themselves without outsiders.

MCing and 90’s style Rap is a style popularized by Killer Bee; he basically monopolizes the genre.

Soul & Disco remained popular since this music is associated with the Raikage’s generation.

If the beat is good, you have a chance but don’t go too far because permanent cancellation is a thing in Kumo.

Every year, many artists get together to make an end-of-the-year song under Killer Bee’s record label (Kanye West - All of the Light)

Kumo loves a female soloist, they go crazy over singers like Rihanna, Fergie, Missy Elliot, Doechii, Janet Jackson, Beyonce, SZA, Nicki Minaj, Chungha, etc…

Even if Killer Bee dominates the Rap scene, they would love male rappers like Kanye West and Busta Rhymes.

Contrary to popular belief, mumble and drill rap is not as popular as people make it out to be. It is subject to a lot of mockery in Kumo so most rappers using this style rely on their fandoms overseas.

The northern region of the Country of Lightning houses a whole different language and heritage. They tend to stay isolated from the rest of the population because the area is made of chains of massive mountains. They are distantly related to the Raikage’s lineage. They also carry their own unique cultural sound, who sometimes makes its way into the mainstream.

Reality TV is dominated by Kumo and Iwa. They are both sides of the same coin and produces the most known franchises in the world. Kumo focuses more on Drama among citizens, Music reality TV, Romance, and all the lives of the out-of-the-norm people in their country. Think of the entire TLC Channel, Big Brother, Real Housewives of Kumogakure, Bad Girls Club/Baddies, Courtroom Drama/Judge Judy

Reality TV about food (Master Chef & The Great Baking Show) and The Voice have editions in each large country except Kiri.

Drag Races are only in Konoha and Kumo because shows like these are illegal in Suna & Kiri and got canceled in Iwa.

Kumo, Konoha & Iwa hosted their annual seasons of Love Island with great success.

The movie scene in Kumo is pretty small compared to the rest of its entertainment industry. Unfortunately, it’s dominated by heroes and historical movies.

SUNA’S MUSIC TASTE:

Vocalists are prized in Suna. There’s nothing more acclaimed than an angelic voice. Think of Adele, Indila, Christina Aguilera & Jon Secada

Classical music is a dedicated art form. It’s no joke. The biggest classical theaters are in Suna. Those who desire to study various string and wind instruments travel to the Country of Wind where the best classical music teachers are located.

Suna’s club music is sooo underrated, some people (outsiders) believe it doesn’t even exist due to the prevalence of live performing bands and orchestras. It would be similar in style to artists like Nelly Furtado & Nyusha. Their electro music is extremely popular in clubs in Konoha and people have no idea it’s made by artists from the country of Wind. Yep, you guessed it. IRL it’s 90s-2000s Eurodance.

SUNA’S MOVIE/TV TASTE:

TV shows/drama series taking place in a huge mansion with dramatic transitions/character introductions are very popular

Going on that same point, movies about family drama/dysfunction are popular as well because many recognize their relatives in the characters or use this media to reprimand their family members (don’t be like ----- from ------ series). Suna is probably on their 20th season of Shameless.

A large part of the population has never traveled outside of the Country of Wind so documentaries about other nations are well-liked and sometimes used for propaganda.

For some reason, all of Suna’s TV is super duper HD but their national news broadcast has to be the lowest quality and cheapest setup known to man.

Because of its diverse population, what’s popular depends on social class & ethnicity/clan. Due to environmental & economic circumstances, gang-related rap music grew in popularity. Tying back to the heavy influence of gang culture, it appears in music and fashion whether the group has criminal affiliations or not. The underground rap scene is very prolific and generated many iconic groups and soloists but is also associated with many violent tragedies

The rise of female singers revolutionized society as Kiri started promoting their unique expression of beauty & sexuality to the outside world. Unfortunately, the pressure to appeal to the male gaze is insane. It is still a male-dominated society in contrast to Kumo’s support (and admiration) of female independence and individual self-expression, in Kiri, female performers can catch hell for “covering too much”, and not wearing makeup and heels.

I’m telling you! Female singers have mastered the art of a catchy song with a saxophone riff+ vain lyrics = INSTANT HIT (basically 2009-2011 Alexandra Stan)

Vocal-based boybands are popular and attract mixed crowds. Many liked them for their trendy style, iconic songs, and success with the ladies. Most of these group sit in style close to groups like Aventura and Boyz II Men.

What’s funny is that for the longest, Kiri was stuck in the early 2000s, when it comes to style, fashion and media production. This is why until very recently, CDs were sold in jewel cases with the most devious album covers.

Artists like Minori Chihara are popular as well, again showing the country's diversity. Their popularity extends to certain regions/islands in the Country of Water but recently many have entered the mainstream giving a diverse sound to Kiri. Either more eccentric than what outsiders would expect or coming from ethnicities/clans previously underrepresented (Haku’s clan is one of them). Some examples are Charli XCX, Wednesday Campanella, Bad Bunny & Flower.

Because of the strong love/couple culture, most forms of partner dancing (and the music associated with them) are really popular. Of course, depending on the region of the country you reside in, but dances including slower movements dominate, a few examples would be Bachata & Kompa.

IWA’S MOVIE/TV TASTE:

Adventure/Action movies are filmed there and many popular franchises came out of it (think of Mad Max). These movies always climb to the top of the box office when they are released. (Deidara likes these because there are many explosions)

To rival Rock, Iwa has the largest indie music scene. Because of the lack of funding for anyone not filling the typical rock/metal mold, countless small groups and soloists from underfunded companies or self-employed are so many that they form a whole layer of the country’s music industry. I know groups/singers like Kllo, Cafuné, Glasperlenspiel, The Neighbourhood & JOY. would fit this description.

Iwa’s reality TV is more geared towards anything following celebrities' (& corn stars) lives, Any survival show in the wilderness, Married at first sight, Jersey Shore, Jackass, Real Houswives of Iwagakure.

It is possible that you don’t understand the lyrics of any song because it is a melodic-driven music culture.

The most accomplished and elaborate sound technicians/producers come from there (previously associated with Orochimaru or not).

Because of the village’s association with Konoha, all artists/producers from Oto are popular in Konoha and operate in the Country of Fire.

Meanwhile in Oto, they have perfected the art of sounds, allowing a more intricate/complex musical sound to emerge both in EDM & other electro styles. Going from Yasutaka Nakata (Perfume & capsule) to more layered compositions from artists like Emawk, FKA Twigs

Iwagakure is seemingly ancient stone buildings left unpainted. Pottery and rugs being sold in loud markets. Sprigs of tough grass that could cut your feet and weeds growing in the cracks.

Iwagakure is long summer droughts that build a hard people capable of surviving in the worst conditions. Autumn brings the long awaited rain and the lingering petrichor smell. Constant muddied shoes and wet clothes. Winter is snow capped mountains on the horizon, freezing air and blowing snow through their valley that disappears the next day. But spring? Spring is soft, small beautiful flowers blooming for a short life. Disappearing the brown earth for those short months in a rainbow of color.

Do you think Iwagakure is Chinese influenced?

Iwagakure reminds me rather in its imagery of the Himalayas. The mountains and the stupas. Regarding the question of whether the Himalayas are partially Chinese is uhhhhhh controversial and I don’t want to go there, but I think no one can deny that whether or not they are Chinese, they definitely aren’t traditionally Han. 

In a more explicitly diverse Naruto, I would draw more from Bhutan, Nepal, and northern India in my depiction of Land of Earth dress, cuisine, customs, etc.
