BIOGRAPHY

Jaden Harkness was born quite the lucky girl. She was born to parents Jillian and Robert Harkness in Manhattan, New York. She had a younger brother, who was born 6 years after she was. Her family had always been well off, what with her father one of the founders of a major technology company that was created in the year 2014. It was through this business of her father’s that she met one of her closest longterm friends, Avalon Nightingale. Their parents had founded the company together, and while the adults worked and left them alone, the two of them bonded to the point of sisterhood.

The Harknesses gave Jaden the best education they could afford, and while she did well in school, studying was never one of Jaden’s interests. She was a daydreamer, and always had her head in the clouds or in the latest fantasy novel. Her notebooks were full of random doodles and swirling designs instead of important notes for classes. She loved the arts––mainly performing arts. In middle school, she participated in a few school plays, starting off as minor roles and then finally landing a leading role when she was in eighth grade. It was then that she decided she wanted to be an actress.

It was around when Jaden turned ten years old that her abilities began manifesting. First it started off with her having vivid, yet pointless dreams that would actually happen a few days later. These dreams didn’t happen often at first, and Jaden would always have this bizarre sense of deja vu. She almost thought she was going crazy when the dreams would happen more regularly. It didn’t do her sanity much justice when her telekinesis first appeared when she turned thirteen. It took her a while to realize that it was actually her fault for random objects flying off shelves whenever she got angry, and once she did, she began to hone her ability. Even though she was young, she knew it was imperative to keep her power a secret after the incident only two years prior. Not wanting to be subjected to a government lab rat, Jaden kept this secret of hers from her family for years.

Her powers didn’t stop there, however. After developing control over her telekinetic talents, Jaden developed more abilities, including telepathy and the ability to create minor illusions by the time she graduated high school. When it was time for college, she said goodbye to her dearest friends and made way to California to attend Pansaw University. She had dreams of getting away from New York, and eventually become a famous Hollywood actress. She went into Pansaw University’s Theater Arts and double majored in Business, just in case the fame and fortune dream didn’t work out. She always liked to be practical.

As a hobby, she learned how to use her abilities to perform simple magic tricks for her friends in school. She loved to be in the spotlight and have all eyes on her. However, performing just basic tricks began to grow tiring for Jaden, and she needed to up her entertainment a little bit. This act was only for herself, but she started using her powers to steal. It started first in cheap markets, then in more expensive clothing stores, and it’s finally evolved to on the street in plain sight. Her abilities let her get away with it so far, and the rush was always worth it. If her gift was this great, imagine all the possibilities that she could accomplish. Why should she have to hide herself as a Meta to the world?

It was this thought that motivated her into joining the Nephilim Reborn, a Metahuman supremacist group led by Uriel Zeriah. She served on his council under the sin of “Pride,” which was more than suitable given her personality. She was proud of what she was and what she could do, and she believed that with the Nephilim, she could rule the world That dream quickly shattered, however, after she participated in the heavy attack on Pansaw. As a psychic, she never saw the Nephilim’s loss coming. How could she when they were all gods with abilities beyond belief hyped up on their leader’s aether? Jaden had started coming down from her power high when she was overpowered by a C.A.R.M.A agent. The next thing she knew, she found herself chipped and locked in one of the organization’s fancy new “Meta-proof” prison cells.

She’s been imprisoned in C.A.R.M.A for the last three years, powerless, bored, and always thinking. The brief few times someone dared to turn her chip off for research and registration purposes, Jaden discovered that Uriel’s little “power boost” on her magic never quite wore off. Unfortunately, she hasn’t had the chance to test her strengthened abilities for herself, but that’s okay. She’s not sticking around C.A.R.M.A for much longer. In fact, she’s already got a plan to get herself out one day. Whether she’ll return to help the Nephilim reform or not remains to be seen, however, her thirst for power is never-ending.

POWERS

OMNI-MAGIC: Jaden's power has grown exponentially over the years, granting her access to multiple forms of Magic and other supernatural/mystical forces. Her abilities continue to grow and develop with no one knowing how far they will go.

WEAKNESSES

Control is extremely important; unconscious use of this power can be catastrophic. Users with Magic Immunity, Magic Negation, Magic Sealing, and Anti-Magic. Using magic requires concetration, focus, and mental strength. Overuse of abilities can cause mental strain/headaches, exhaustion, nosebleeds, and even coma or death in extreme cases. While Jaden's capable of incredible magic feats and skills, she is still getting used to her suddenly boosted abilities and may experience control issues with high emotions like sadness or rage. Users of Psychic Shield/Immunity are highly resistant or immune against psionic abilities. Her advancement into Ominpathy is still very new; she's often unable to tune out the many thoughts she can hear, which can cause migraines.

She’d been keeping track of the days with tally marks etched discreetly in the wall hidden away from prying eyes. Three years left chipped and powerless and caged like an animal. It was a far cry from the position she’d been in before. Pride of the Nephilim with the world as her oyster. Personally, she blamed Uriel for this; if he hadn’t gone batshit on the whole city of Pansaw after C.A.R.M.A attacked Mari perhaps she wouldn’t be in this mess. Sure, she’d been pissed off about her girl getting hurt too, but sometimes precision and calculation did better than raw power and strength. What had their onslaught on the civilians really done back then besides unite everyone in Pansaw together in the most disgusting fashion? It was a lot easier to blame someone else than admit she’d made the mistake of dropping her guard for a second in a crucial moment. 

The magician hardly had access to her powers since the day of the attack, C.A.R.M.A keeping her beautiful magic trapped under their deactivation chip in the back of her neck. There’d been a couple times where they’d turned it off for a few seconds for the sake of registration and quick research notes, and in those split moments, Jaden could feel something different. Her magic felt stronger, more powerful, like Uriel’s aether enhancement had never faded away. Oh, how she longed to feel that power running through her veins again. It was hers – how dare these government controlled monkeys think they can rip away something that was part of her? Whatever. She’d be out of here before they even knew it. This grey tank top and orange pants look was getting so old.  

Just then she heard the heavy door to the prisoner area open and footsteps approaching. She sat on her cot in her cell, legs criss-crossed as she performed her daily “meditation,” as she called it. “Oh joy. A visitor,” she drawled, cracking open one eye to look at them through the shimmering energy field trapping her inside. “To what do I owe the pleasure?”

Asha was wandering the ballroom during the ball, talking to random slaves to make sure they were okay and chatting up various villagers to make them feel at home. The angel was pretty adequate at being hospitable, if he had to say so himself, even if doing so in a castle full of vampires who wanted to feast on him was not the most ideal, but Asha took it in his stride. 

He was the midst of a conversation with one of the members of staff when he caught sight of a certain villager from the corner of his eye. Asha excused himself and headed over to the very well-dressed man, a wide grin on his face. 

“Mister Harkness. Fancy meeting you here. You seem right at home in this place,” the celestial commented. Asha was dressed in the standard issue tuxedo, but his brilliant white wings and halo were still on display despite the slave collar around his throat. “Can I get you another drink?”

I’ve been thinking about Rey’s yellow lightsaber. It’s clearly constructed out of her staff from Jakku, showing her growth as a person and a Jedi, how far she’s come, and the yellow blade harks back to the ideals of the Sentinals. But...

I got a “feeling” about it, that there might be something more, so I did a quick google search and rediscovered the Legends story of Jaden Korr. Jaden cleanses an unstable, red kyber crystal, stripping away the corruption until the crystal heals and turns YELLOW.

Do you see where I’m going with this?

I believe that, sometime before the epilogue, Rey returns to Kef Bir and finds Kylo Ren’s discarded lightsaber. It’s a weapon that’s done terrible things but it’s also the weapon that killed Kylo Ren and saved Ben Solo, saved HER, saved the galaxy.

She uses the Force to cleanse the crystal, guided and supported by three generations of Skywalkers, stripping away all the corruption and pain that haunts it, and, finally, it turns yellow.

When we met them in TFA, Rey’s staff and Kylo Ren’s lightsaber were symbols of their owners’ loneliness, the means by which they kept the rest of the galaxy at bay. Now, finally, they are no longer alone. They’re joined. They’re one.

“I need to take some blood samples from you, ask you some questions about your family.  But.”  Rowan held up a bag of Taco Bell and gently shook it.  “I thought maybe we could make a deal of food for cooperation so that I don’t have to come back with other agents.  I’ve also got a small flask in there.  Figure you’ve got to be low on food that doesn’t look like slop and maybe could use a little booze.”  It felt wrong to be treating a former Nephilim this way considering she blamed them all for the death of her brother.  But at the same time, she wasn’t generally a confrontational person.  Tempting as it might have been to react to the bored drawl with sass, she figured the carrot might be more tempting than the stick and could only hope it would work.

Avalon - Mars, Chiron, 4th House

Mars: How does your character express their anger?

In very unhealthy ways.  Avalon has always been an emotional individual, with passion and anger burning hotter for her than most other emotions.  How she expresses her anger is almost like playing Russian Roulette, as one never quite knows how she is going to react.  Oftentimes she will set things on fire or act out physically in some manner, or sometimes she may simply just turn into a bird and fly off.  Though her anger very easily consumes her, Avalon lately has done more to control that anger rather than let it control her, and she has been acting out and exploding less and less.  Rather she’s been using that anger to further plot and fuel her schemes — meaning when she finally does go off, it will be devastating.

Chiron: What’s your character’s deepest wound?

There can only be one?  Avalon has been through a lot, some of it the fault of her actions but a lot that only came upon her because of what she is.  The deepest, most altering wound would have to be the slaughter of her adopted metahuman family by pre-C.A.R.M.A. anti-metahuman groups.  Not even accidentally killing her first adopted parents traumatized Avalon as did coming home to find the bodies of her parents and brother and their home ransacked where they had been looking for her; the part of Ava that still gave humans any benefit of doubt died that day in the fire that she set upon the house after getting everything she needed, replaced by an anger and hatred that has burned ever hotter as the years have gone by and forged her into who and what she is today.

4th House: Describe your character’s family and how they influenced them.

Family has always been important to Avalon, whether it has affected her positively or negatively, and it has certainly done both.  Though she does not know her biological parents, it was her first adoptive parents who laid the foundation, though if they were alive today they would be heartbroken at how dark and twisted Avalon has become.  It was Ava’s adopted metahuman family that taught her how to be proud and unashamed of what she is, and of course their deaths were what lit the spark that had always been inside her and sent her spiraling into her hatred for and vengeance against humans.  The biggest influence in her life by far though is her best friend and proclaimed sister Jaden Harkness, whom she’s known longer than she has anyone else and has always accepted and supported Ava, and vice versa.

“Mm, thank you,” Jaden preened under Lovell’s attention. It was nice to finally meet someone around here with his acquired tastes. Also it was good to know his sense of style hadn’t diminished after spending more than a year in slavery wearing the equivalent of rags.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Lovell du Bellay,” he replied with a warm smile, glancing over the other man with slightly raised brows. “I’m Jaden Harkness. I quite like whoever you’re wearing. There aren’t many people around here that have such particular taste, save for some of the masters. I’m guessing you must be on the higher end of the food chain here?”

* GETTING  TO  KNOW  THE  ACCOUNT :

WHAT  INSPIRED  YOU  TO  TAKE  ON  THIS  MUSE : my dudes I’m fuckin prone to taking up obscure ass muses. Hayner from KH, Harvar and Hiro from Soul Eater, yeah. So when I first saw KG, I knew I had to make anglaive blog. Nyx was the obvious choice, so I didn’t go there. I knew I couldn’t do Crowe justice, and I actually thought she’d be a much more popular muse than she has been, so that was off too. I also picked Lib bc he was a complete one-eighty from muses I have mostly portrayed. Most of my recent muses have been generally quiet, so I thought it’d be a nice change. The other glaives all kinda followed in suit but yeah. I love Libertus. Absolutely no regrets wtf I love him.

WHAT  ARE  YOUR  FAVOURITE  ASPECTS  OF  YOUR  CURRENT  MUSE : I really like the potential Libertus has. While he does now have quite a bit more canon than he used to, he still has a lot of vagueness about his story, which I like because I feel like it leaves me open to interpret.

WHAT’S  YOUR  BIGGEST  INSPIRATION  WHEN  IT  COMES  TO  WRITING : in general? Uhhh honestly? Muse. Lmao hear me out. I treat all my muses and characters in general I write as separate consciousnesses and it was actually kind of freaky a couple years back I am dead serious when I say I don’t think I wrote most of that. I’d just kind of zone out and let the muse take hold, only really conscience enough to proofread as we went. It isn’t as intense now, but I still feel a lot of that sensation when I write

FAVOURITE  TYPES  OF  THREADS : angst my dudes. But my ultimate ultimate favorite are intimate melancholy threads. I’ve very rarely gotten a chance to do them but like I love them. Where it’s not that deep intense pain of dramatic angst, but something quieter, dulled but still deep. Melancholy. Especially when it’s very personal to both muses. The ones I’ve done were all depressed/falling apart ships but I see so much potential for this kind of thread unromantically too. GAHHH I love these kinds of threads dudes.

BIGGEST  STRUGGLE  IN  REGARDS  TO  YOUR  CURRENT  MUSE :I’m gonna mention my activity and general lack of muse, but for this question I want to focus specifically on regarding struggles with Lib. Right now, it’s difficult for me to throw Lib at people because I’m just not quite sure where he’d fit. Like it wouldn’t make sense to me for them to meet or interact.
