SO main goal in the story in general is them moving out of the city to live and do their lives, the reason they moved in was because it was cheap, and promised monsters a better life! That's what the authority promised, the city itself is ruined down, its new york but monster. But they do get caught up in the authorities because surprise surprise Melody's old stalker is apart of the authority ‼️ so that's basically the plot

Pitch wise, like I said main goal is to move away. But say for melody and ares, they want to move away because they want to start a family and to try and at least not continue the familial trauma 😭 Tad wants to start her own thing, buisness, newspaper, whatever and be away from her family since they tie her down so much, and be her own person. Scout doesn't really have a plan because he has no family that supports him. He is with the flow of what he wants to do, but maybe to continue his baseball thing to support himself. Tldr at the end they all calm down no more excitement, just like peace.

BUT random facts.

Ares: he's based of Zuke from No straight roads, he is the eldest of 4 (biological) kids, his Prosthetic arm is homemade, he stands at 6 foot 5, Likes to bird watch, is Jamacian!!! And is a tiger shark guy.

Melody: she's not really based off of anyone in particular, is the baby of 3 girls. her favorite brand is baby phat (monster version), she can wiggle her antenna, and that hair around her body is FUR. DENSE FUR. And she does have wings!! They just shrink down to fit in her clothes. And is the shortest.

Tad: boy she's the middle child of 6 kids, shes a bit of a jack of all trades, Likes to start projects and never finishes them, is the oldest out of the four (27), is based off Kanamori from keep your hands off eizouken. Based off a Wallace flying frog, AND is from Malaysia

Jamaican artist Ebony G. Patterson uses lavish surfaces and verdant motifs to entice viewers to contemplate not only the power of beauty and fashion but also historical and contemporary violence against Black bodies. In the monumental three-channel video installation …three kings weep…, a trio of towering young men shed tears as they sit silently before a backdrop of floral wallpaper and fluttering artificial butterflies. The videos play backwards, and as a result the initially shirtless men appear to be slowly dressing themselves in colorful clothing with mixed patterns and gleaming jewelry that draw on the styles of dancehall culture and carnival costuming. Silence is intermittently interrupted by the voice of a boy reciting “If We Must Die,” a sonnet that Jamaican-born writer Claude McKay published in 1919 after a summer of intense racial terror and resistance across the United States. In the final seconds of the more than eight-minute-long triptych, as the men’s sartorial performance ends, each proudly crowns himself with a bandana, a bucket hat, and a pair of reflective glasses, respectively. As in McKay’s poem, these three kings are ready to fight for their dignity.

So I was thinking something crazy. what if Rico had a son. Hear me out. Tesuji just froze his sperm before he died. And they force this girl who would have been a great athlete (Track) to have this kid. So ichirou finds out and sends the kid to the system. (what is he’s half japanese half jamacian). Later down the line ichirou tells kevin about the kid. Kevin adopts the kid. Who has issues like BPS or ADHD/ADD. Neil and Andrew help him. (Name: Nikoshi Doe) Everyone calla him Niko.

Hmm 🤔 yeah this could be interesting. The kid could also be a by product of Rico hooking up with another player too and she had planned on giving birth with the hope becoming part of the Moriyama family but after Rico’s death she was like ‘nope fuck this, I’m out’ and places the kid up for adoption.

And then like you said, Kevin finding out later and adopting him and Andreil stepping in to help.. it has the possibility of being so healing for all of them!

Kevin would get a glimpse of who Rico could have been if he’d been raised differently, who they both could have been. The little boy, nikoshi, would begin to replace the negative memories with good ones. Kevin would stop waking up at night from nightmares fueled by Rico’s piercing glare, instead he’d see little nikoshi’s eyes instead, so similar but filled with the hope and sweetness of childhood.

And I think helping with any kid would be a good experience for Andrew and Neil, especially one that had been in foster care. Andrew would get to protect and be the savior that he’d always wished for for himself when he was small, alone and broken. And Neil would get to see a part of himself he didn’t know existed. He’d always held a silent fear of kids, afraid that he’d treat them like his own father had treated him but he slowly comes to realize that isn’t the case and hes capable of loving and caring for a child, of being the type of man he’d always longed for his father to be...

Everything, Everything - Nicola Yoon

Madeline has never seen the world outside of her window--she has been diagnosed with severe combination immunodeficiency (SCID), making her allergic to virtually everything. One bad molecule and poof-dead. Her life had been nothing too out of the ordinary until a boy, Olly, and his family had moved right next door. Madeline knows that somehow, someway they will fall in love.

I’m more of an adventure/fantasy type of person, but from time to time I like to pick up more light hearted books where I need to remember a whole bunch of details from the characters to the world--and this book was exactly that. The way the story is written, there aren’t any chapters, so I found myself saying ‘oh just one more page won’t hurt’ and before I knew it, I was at the end of the book! 

Quick reads are fine, but in this case, I felt like Madeline and Olly’s love story didn’t have enough time to develop. The story is very much based on the plot diagram, and I wished that the falling action after the climax was extended. Without going into too much detail, Madeline’s mother is an integral part of her life, which we can see from the beginning. However, towards the end of the story, her mother is sort of let go ?? I get that this is Madeline’s story, but it would have been nice to have a bit more closure.

One thing that sort of bothered me right away was the fact that Madeline’s mother was also partially her nurse? Carla is her other nurse, but she isn’t there 24/7. It just bothered me because irl, nurses and doctors (or any practicing job, as far as I’m aware of) cannot treat/represent their family member(s). Likewise, a doctor cannot become their own physician (doctors need to see doctors too). In addition, some of the drawings at the very beginning, like the graphs, bothered me because Carla and Madeline’s mom need to take some of her vitals every 30 minutes but the graph has coordinates at every hour ?? I think there were two or three pictures like that, but the rest of them were fine. I appreciate the fact that they were drawn by her husband--which 10/10 love the Q&A with the author at the end!

I appreciate the fact that Madeline is a mutliracial character. Again, this stems from Yoon’s inspiration--she is Jamacian-American and her husband is Korean-American; Madeline is African-American and Japanese. I’m glad that more YA characters are being represented, it helps younger audiences/POC to form connections with characters (even though Madeline’s situation is a little unique?) Nevertheless, it’s great to see!

At first I thought I wasn’t going to like Olly, but he grew onto me--at first I thought he was just going to be some boy who Madeline gushes over (which she does a bit initially). Together they were very cute, and the way Yoon lets us see through Madeline’s lense is nice. For their first kiss, for example, it’s not overly described, and it felt like it was very natural. I also really enjoyed the IM messages and the emails sent between Olly and Madeline; we got to know more about the characters in an interesting way. Once again, I wished we got to delve more into Olly’s world; I felt like there was so much potential to unpack his story, which would make his character even more realistic.

So overall for me, this book was just a bit too fast-paced, which led to some events being rushed, but the story itself is cute and the characters are quite likable, despite Madeline’s unusual circumstances. I also have to appreciate that Madeline is a huge bookworm and Carla, the nurse, is her biggest cheerleader (we love healthy relationships!)

He walked up to you and introduced himself.

"Hi, my name is Scott Kim and you ?"

You introduced yourself in your traditional Jamaican dialect.

"I love your accent" he continues on

"So tell me, what a guy like you doin' ere in the big apple ?"

He was so flustered by your accent he couldn't answer your question.

“God you even speak beautifully” He says in pure astonishment

You just smile at him

He had to have you, just stunning

“Dude, she’s a supermodel and practically out of your league” Scott’s friends teased

“wagwan, you not wanna to talk to me anymore ?”

“I don’t care what you guys say she’s gonna be mine” Scott proclaims to his friends while he makes his way over to you

“wanna come to a club wit me’ de place sell up wit us dere”

Scott was yet again entranced by your accent “Okay” he managed to get out

“Just come” you giggled grabbing his hand so he can follow you

You get there and the club is packed, wall to wall. You pull Scott to the dance floor

“ Come on lover boy, me wan’ show you me moves”

He obliges, Watching you dance and move your body easily to the beat. Once again he just couldn’t take how good you were. It overloaded his senses. You looked ethereal, smelled amazing, your accent made your words poetic, your words were so meaningful.

The music changes to a different song. slower pace

“come lover boy, me wan’ wine on ya”

You move your hips all sexy and sultry like to the music. His friends were barely keeping their composure looking at Scott’s expressions.

Scott’s eyes were so wide when you looked back at him.

He looked like a child that found a key to a candy store

“like wha’ ya see lover boy ?” you speak not missing a beat

“I think I love you” Scott confesses 

“Ah, yah quite nice lover boy” you say backing up closer to him still dancing. You roll your hips onto his and gently touch the side of his face.

He strokes your hand lightly down to your forearm, looking at you with intent in his eyes

“If I asked you out would you say yes ?” he asks

“Ya wan’ dat lover boy ?” you say cockily

“Yes, I want that a lot” he hastily responds

“I’m free, tomorrow 2 o’ clock. Bring ya dancin’ gear” you state to Scott

You walk away looking back at him being baffled by you

Christian walks up to Scott and says “dude you are gonna be so sprung” and laughs immediately after his statement.
