I love it when other characters refer to James Sirius Potter as ‘Jamie’. Like his name is great and all and literally a ship name for your bi dad and gay godfather, Harry 🙄 but Jamie gives James Sirius an identity outside of being named after Harry’s parental figures; outside of the shadow of the saviour's son and his quidditch captain mum.

James Sirius has his father’s eyes and hair but has his mother’s freckles. Jamie has dyed his hair blue highlights and got an eyebrow piercing from a muggle piercing shop. Jamie likes art and music more than he likes quidditch. Jamie wants to be a musician but not like Celestina Warbeck, more like Mick Jagger from The Rolling Stones. Jamie prefers e-cigarettes rather than traditional ones, despite Teddy telling him it woud rarely make a difference when you’re burning your lungs away.

James Sirius gave Teddy handpicked flowers from Molly’s garden when they were small children. But Jamie gives Teddy a handmade onyx ring set on platinum.

“Don’t flatter yourself,” Jamie says. “I’m not proposing yet.”

Teddy laughs, hair turning fuchsia to match the flush on his cheeks. “Love you too, Jamie.”

Teddy is there trying to help with breakfast, and Scorpius is there trying to comprehend the chaos around him, and Harry and Ron are coming down the stairs to have breakfast with their family.

So I’ve been thinking a bit about Harry’s kids and what sort of role they would play in the future chapters of UDLTTOM & I keep going back to this idea of the 3 brothers & the 3 Hallows and drawing parallels between them & their motivations.

Like I picture James becoming someone who is trying & failing to keep his loved ones close & like Cadmus is willing to go to great lengths in that pursuit. Albus I see as a forgotten middle child hiding from all this family drama and time magic BS like Ignotus, & Harry’s daughter I see being most like Antioch perusing the power of not of the Elder wand per say but understanding and ultimately control of the timelines and the ability to predetermine fate.

I’m not sure how Teddy Lupin ties into this all. He’s sort of a middle man between the Potter siblings’ infighting. He’s after his own goals ultimately & will work with who he needs to if it serves his purpose.

Can I just point out that this is just not true?

I will admit. Remus Lupin is one complex man. There are some things he could've done better as, not just a retired Professor to Harry, but as an uncle. Remus was best friends with James. He could've done more for Harry, I agree. (I'm beginning to develop strong opinions about Remus and honestly? I might mention it in another post-- Anyways, it's for another time)

However, I do know that Harry did care a lot about him. I mean, the resurrection stone brings back loved ones. And I'll remind you that it was his parents (Lily and James), his godfather (Sirius) and Remus. There. That alone, should be proof enough that Remus is considered his loved one.

He did care about Remus. Just because he didn't name his kid after him, doesn't mean he didn't care.

It's because there is already a child with his name.

Need I remind you that Remus does have a child of his own? Teddy Remus Lupin is the only child of the late Tonks and Remus.

Teddy is also Harry's godson. So, Teddy is considered one of Harry's children even if they're not biologically related. And keep in mind, that Harry was 19 when Teddy was born. James Sirius Potter was born when Harry was 26? 27? And that's a good long 7-8 solid years of Harry being there for Teddy and helping Andromeda in raising him.

Wait, I'm not done. I recently found this post and it really does make so much sense and back my opinion on this topic:

Not to mention that at the end of the Deathly Hallows Harry mentions how a nineteen-year-old Teddy Lupin still comes over to the Potter home about 4 times a week.

Teddy is already an adult. He doesn't need to visit Harry that often, yet he does. If they didn't have that close of a relationship, or if Harry didn't care about Remus enough, thing's wouldn't have turned out the way it did.

Just because none of Harry's biological children are named after named after the best Professor throughout Harry's schooling years, doesn't mean none of children are. Argue with the wall (at the back of Leaky Cauldron).

Albus's calm but disbelieving voice, telling Teddy that this isn’t a joke or some drunken misunderstanding.  Before he’s thought better of it, he’s opening his eyes and allowing them to focus on his bare right wrist for the first time in his life.

summary: James points out how ludicrous it is that Teddy has never met another metamorph and somehow Teddy finds themself stealing from St. Mungo's, become something of a mentor, and maybe even resolving this thing between them and James. No promises on that last one.
