The Rusted Paladin

Jeanne: Hey, Jaune?

Jaune: Yeah?

Jeanne: Do you think if I was in your place, that I could have been the, Rusted Knight?

Jaune: Hmmm... Maybe... I'm not really sure.

Jeanne: Why not?

Jaune: I never understood how I became the, Rusted Knight, I sorta just became the, Rusted Knight. I understand, Alyx gave me the moniker of, The Rusted Knight, but I did not understand how my armour began to rust as it did. I personally think due to the nature of the, Ever After; My mental state effecting me as it did so, and probably caused my armour to rust as it did.

Jeanne: Mental state?

Jaune: The conscious mind of an individual often warps the reality of the, Ever After around them. This can often lead one to being trapped in a situation that feels like you are being toyed with an eldritch horror that is messing with your mind simply because it was bored. Or, you'll be stuck in a tea party with a sentient slug who is a massive pot junkie.

Jeanne: Did that often happen?

Jaune: Often enough that I was able to 'dull' my mind enough so it wouldn't effect me as much as it first did. And, that I was able to see the signs of what was coming to avoid them, or choose which scenario I would rather deal with.

Jeanne: So less dealing with eldritch horrors then?

Jaune: Actually the eldritch horrors were easier to deal with.

Jeanne: Really?

Jaune: Yeah, they usually had some sort of gimmick to them, speak in opposites, talks in rhymes, stuff like that. Once you figure it out they were easier to deal with. I even became friends with some of them!

Jeanne: And, that was better then dealing with a slug pot junkie...?

Jaune: You've read the book where it comes into the story. Those drugs play havoc on the mind, and body.

Jeanne: Okay. So do you think I could have become the, Rusted Knight?

Jaune: ...

Jaune: I honestly believe if we swapped worlds, the Fall would never have happened with you in it.

Jeanne: You do?

Jaune: If you as you are now, Jeanne went to my universe, and took my place. You would have probably have killed, Cinder, and became the, Fall Maiden.

Jeanne: Seriously?!

Jaune: Cinder may have been more experienced then you, but in combat she is no where near as strategically minded as you are. She relied on brute force, and the mastery of her semblance to defeat her foes. You would have probably adopted a defensive stance, and waited for your semblance to super charge before activating your, Arc-Angel persona. I can't think of a single individual who can withstand your semblance as it is now when you let loose, let alone when you become the, Arc-Angel. Hell, you could have easily soloed that, Grimm Wyvern with it. People may have mistaken you for a, Maiden considering it's visual appearance.

Jeanne: But, what if I was the, Fall Maiden, and I used my semblance?

Jaune: ...

Jaune: You probably could have cut a path straight through the, Grimm Lands, right into, Salem's Castle, and captured her.

Jeanne: Sweet~!

Jeanne: But, seriously, would I have become the, Rusted Knight: Yes, or no?

Jaune: Well... If you becoming the, Rusted Knight that meant you saw the members of, Team RWBY fall into the abyss. Had to do preform a mercy killing of your friend to prevent the, Winter Maidens powers from transferring to, Cinder. Failed to escaped through a portal before you to fell into the, Ever After. Accidently touched some clock fruit thingy that sent you back in time. Was betrayed by the first human you saw in ages. Had to deal with a psychotic cat antics where it was trying to weaken your mental stability so it could take over your body. And, you became the over protective parent to a village of sentient origami paper because you had developed a savior complex because of all the people you failed to save. And, that you were doing all of this for... a long time because you knew that one day, some day you would be reunited with your friends, and you would finally manage to get out of the psychedelic nut house that was the, Ever After.

Jaune: Then yeah, sure... you could have become the, Rusted Knight.

Jeanne: Uhhhhh...?!

Jaune: What?

Jeanne: That's what fucking happened to you in the, Ever After?!

Jaune: I didn't tell you what happened? Could have swore I did.

Jeanne: I knew you were the, Rusted Knight. I didn't fucking know how it happened?! I would have remember you telling me if that's how it fucking happened?!

Jaune: Oh...

Jaune: Still want to be the, Rusted Paladin?

Jeanne: Paladin?

Jaune: I would assume that because you would have your more... developed staged armour, by the time you became, the Rusted Knight.

Jeanne: By developed stage, you no doubt mean me having armour plating that can hold my, F-Cups?

Jaune: Yes.

Jeanne: I see. Please continue.

Jaune: Having your developed stage armour, your helmet, and your semblance you would have been mistaken for some holy figure with rusted armour. Hence, the name: the Rusted Paladin.

Jeanne: The Rusted Paladin... Not bad... My helmet would have given me a crown of rust... I bet it would look pretty cool.

Jaune: I would have liked to have seen that. Mostly.

Jeanne: Mostly? I thought you liked my helmet.

Jaune: I do, it is...? It will look awesome! But, that stupid hole in the back of the top your helmet to let your hair out, that makes your helmet look like it has plumage is so stupid!

Jeanne: Hey, I have...! Or, will have so much hair, I have to put it somewhere, or else I can't see in it! It works, and it looked awesome!

Jaune: I know! That's why it annoys me so much!

Jeanne: You're just jealous of my style.

Jaune: And, you're just jealous that I became a famous character from a children's book!

Jeanne: No, I'm jealous that you got to ride on a giant jackalope because you became the, Rusted Knight!

Jaune: Oh, Juniper... I almost forgot about her...

Jeanne loves flying. It's one of the sensations she loved the most. But...

Yang: Hey chill out girl, we ain't gonna crash. It's like a 5 minutes flight.

Jeanne: *Almost crying* Why can't i just use my semblance to get to Beacon? IT'S NOT FAIR! Aunty Glynda is a meany!

Red, raising a brow at that name: Glynda? As in-

Yang, staring at the screens as the Beacon Welcome message begins playing with a blonde woman on screen: Who’s that?

Glynda, as the video begins playing: My name is Glynda Goodwitch.

Red, turning to the worried blonde next to them with wide eyes: YOUR AUNT IS THE DEPUTY HEADMISTRESS?!?

Jeanne, startled by Red yelling: Y-yes! W-well, she is my cousin but I have called her aunty since i was a kid.

Red: Woah, that's cool! Hey, what's your-

Jeanne, yelping as the bullhead shakes a bit from turbulence and quickly grabs Red and hugs him: I DON’T LIKE BEING SO HIGH WHEN I’M NOT THE ONE IN CONTROL!!!

Red, patting the terrified girl on the head as she cries into his chest: It’s okay, we’re almost there… what's your name?

Jeanne: J-jeanne arc, i know i don't have a color in my name, i was supposed to be called Jaune since my parents were expecting another boy but...

Random bystander, smirking as they see the blond hugging the red head boy: Nice kid! Way to get the girl!

Red, deadpanning at the random bystander: I’m asexual and she’s clearly distressed. It's basic empathy to help her out!

Jeanne: I-it's okay, but thanks for the help... Uh...

Red: Red Rose, (point at Yang) and that's my big sis Yang Xiao Long.

Yang: *smirking* Sup! So, the headmistress, did she trained you a bit or?

Jeanne, calming down with the rhythmic pat on the back from Red: Since last year! I unlocked my semblance and when she saw it, she told me she would train me and show me how to become a huntress! She is so cool!

The bullhead stop, they are finally on fair ground.

Jeanne: Oh i should go now, but thanks you two for helping me! I'm not that afraid... Most of the time.

Jeanne: *smiling like an angel* I hope we will be friends here! But i really need to get out, now!

Jeanne: *Scared look after seeing a lot of gunfire and dead bodies* Well… that was quite an experience. Never thought i’d see a real Great War. What is Jaune doing in that place anyway? Isn’t he supposed to be in Beacon?

*Footsteps is being heard in the same room before she saw a 6’6 behemoth in a skull mask (Similar to the CoD Reboot Ghost, but with sharp teeth), baseball cap, a tactical headset and a full military uniform walks in]

British!Jaune: *Walking in* Fucking hell, why am i even in a bloody campus? The last thing i remember before suddenly being in campus is me fighting the Al-Qatala (Qa was pronounced Qo in Arabic). One guy with red hair suddenly attacks me before I incapacitate him. What in the bloody hell is going on?

[Meanwhile in Jeanne’s universe]

Nora: Soooo…. Ren, what should we do with Pyrros’s unconscious body?

Lian (Ren is the last name): We need to carry Pyrros back to our room

Jeanne: Jaune?! Since when did you use guns, not only that, since when did you becomes such a behemoth and wearing a Skull mask and tactical gears?! And what’s with the accent?!

Jeanne: My name is Jeanne D’Arc also known as Jeanne Arc, i’m the fifth Daughter of Acheius Arc and Juniper Arc.

British!Jaune: Fucking hell…. Seems like we’re a completely different yet the same person at the same time. What is actually going on?

Jeanne: Ok, so what’s going on is that we’re having a phenomenon different Jaune and i call “The Swap”. It happens at really random times and this place is what we call “The White Room”. Now can you answer the question i asked you before, please.

British!Jaune: My name’s Jaune Arc, callsign “Banshee”, Rank Sergeant. I’m a Sniper-Demolition expert and the newest member of Task Force 141. That’s all i gotta say

Jeanne: C’mon, that’s all? Not even your birthday and age

British!Jaune: *Sighs* My age is 22 Years old, birthday is on March 2nd 51 AGW (After Great War)

Jeanne: You’re 3 years older than me!!! The usual Jaune that i swapped with is the same age as i did!!!

British!Jaune: huh, the more you know. How the usual Jaune that you swapped with was like?

Jeanne: He’s 6’1, wearing a knight armor and using a sword. He’s also has a large amount of Aura

British!Jaune: Bloody hell, he’s also on Beacon?

Jeanne: Uh…. He kinda faked his way into beacon?

British!Jaune: *Laughs* Maybe all Jaunes always faking their way into something we really wanted to be.

Jeanne: You WHAT?!

British!Jaune: I also did faked my way into a military at the age of 16, they didn’t even know i was 16 because of my height and a bit of my voice (Just imagine RK Jaune voice but with british accent). You the same?

Jeanne: Actually i’m not, i got in legally

British!Jaune: Heh, nice work then, your parents must’ve trained you and let you in. Unlike mine did

Jeanne: Lemme guess, you’re not trained by your parents and trying to join the huntsman academy but got rejected, aren’t you?

British!Jaune: Something like that, except the rejection part, i was thinking that my bloody age is too old to start training, so i joined the military as part of the British S.A.S. And that’s where i met Captain Price.

Jeanne: Who is Captain Price

British!Jaune: He’s the Captain of the team, Task Force 141, recruited me to-

Jeanne: Huh, i’m back *Spots Pyrros unconscious on his own bed*

Lian: She didn’t, he attacked a really tall man with skull mask and a full military uniform and tactical equipment and the man quickly incapacitated him

Jeanne: Apparently i got swapped with another Jaune. He’s a soldier version of him

Jaune angrily open his bedroom’s door and slam it as hard as he can before storming into his bed and face plant on his pillow.

Jaune: Stupid Dad! Stupid Mom! Stupid Sisters! I did managed to save Jeanne from a Grimm so why can’t I become a huntsman?

Alexander: And that almost cost you your life

Jaune stop for a moment at the echo of his dad, turning his body to the roof and showing tears in his eyes. All the frustration and anger has left his body, and now, the only thing left was sadness and pain as he speak in a defeat tone.

Jaune: Why didn’t you believe in me dad? Am I really that talentless that you wouldn’t give me a chance? I just want to make you proud… make everyone proud…

He want to curled up to himself and go to sleep, hoping that it was just a nightmare… but a part of him still want to become a hero, even if his family didn’t believe in him. Then out of nowhere, a blue screen materialize in thin air with message on it.

It was…

Jaune: Huh? “Welcome to the system, Developer”? What is this?

Jaune: *Tilted his head* And what is a semblance?

Jaune: *Titled his head even more* huh… is there anything I need to know?

Jaune frowned at the exact same answer it had given to him.

Jaune: Then can you tell me at least how I can increase the level of the system?

[By gathering enough point through killing monster and change the story for the better then invest it to the system]

He began to piece some stuff together and from what he can gather, this system feel like some RPG game where you grow stronger by gaining experience and level up from beating the enemies and completing quests.

Then, he can become a huntsman even if he was talentless and this immediately brighten up him as a smile creep onto his face.

Weiss: “People have no doubt become quite angry for that, haven’t they?”

Jaune: Yeah, I’ve had quite a few incidents happen to me every now, and then. But, that’s not the worst of it.
