The events of the DLC make it so much more clear why Akechi hated Maruki with such a passion. He had already gone through seeing somebody brainwashing someone and claiming it was their wish when their intentions were far more selfish. We can tell during the DLC that even with the airs Akechi puts up, he genuinely feels for Guernica, and for even a brief moment, believed what Jerri said. While Maruki was a much different beast than Jerri, seeing this happen again to someone he considers a friend must have massively pissed him off.

The Announcer Irken Guy, that I just call 'Jerri'.

Headcanon time! Jerri was an excellent soldier of the Irken Empire. Though it wasn't his preferred, he was good at what he did and thus continued to work as his assigned role. However, an incident resulted in his hands becoming severely injured and they never ended up healing fully, thus causing him to have poor motor function, pain, and stiffness.

With his taller height and his overwhelming popularity due to his outgoingness and social talent, he was able to be reassigned to that of an entertainer, which was something that fancied his interests much more.

Most believe that he wears his long garments due to shame of his scarring, but he actually doesn't let that bother him any. His reason? He's just cold all of the time, and the robes make him feel fancy.
