Defenders' Saga, series 8: JESSICA JONES S2 it's great to see Trish & Malcolm get more screen & plot time, & circumstances get worse & worse for Jessica: it's a great second season to develop the characters rather than merely focus on another adversarie.

Was completely baffled by the opening of Daredevil 3x01 so I looked it up and found out that The Defenders connected Seasons 2 and 3.

While not as great as Daredevil, it has its moments and is overall an enjoyable series.

Love that I get to watch characters I used to read in comic books come to life in such a spectacular way. (Read a lot of them at my uncle's house but my cousin didn't own any Jessica Jones so she's a 'new' character to me.)

Rebecca Ferguson has been cast in Neal Street Productions, Elysian Film Group and Ashland Hill Media Finance’s adaptation of Enid Blyton‘s “The Magic Faraway Tree.”
The film, based on Blyton’s beloved “The Faraway Tree” series, follows the Thompson family as they move to the English countryside and discover a magical tree. The fantastical tree’s residents transport visitors to distant lands, setting the stage for a series of whimsical adventures. Ferguson will play Dame Snap, the story’s terrifying headmistress character. The screenplay is by Simon Farnaby (“Wonka,” “Paddington 2”).
The “Dune” and “Mission: Impossible” actor joins previously announced cast members Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy in the fantasy adventure film. The cast also includes Nicola Coughlan, Nonso Anozie, Jessica Gunning, Dustin Demri Jones, Mark Heap, Oliver Chris, Lenny Henry, Simon Russell Beale, Michael Palin, Jennifer Saunders, Hiran Abeysekera and Pippa Bennett-Warner. Newcomers Delilah Bennett-Cardy, Billie Gadsdon and Phoenix Laroche play the Thompson children.
Ferguson’s 2024 slate includes roles in the “Peaky Blinders” movie opposite Cillian Murphy, “Mercy” with Chris Pratt, and Kathryn Bigelow’s upcoming feature. The second season of her Apple series “Silo,” in which she stars and produces, is set to premiere on Nov. 15.
Director Ben Gregor said: “Rebecca is a towering screen presence, one of the finest actors of her generation, and will be an electrifying addition to our movie.”

Since “Werewolf by Night” was the MCU Halloween special, how about a Valentine’s Day special?
My idea is a series of shorts that highlight different romantic couples in the universe. It’s basically the same idea behind “Love Actually”. Just a hypothetical outline of who could appear in the special:
1) Clint Barton and Laura Barton going on a date night to celebrate several years of marriage
2) Phastos and Ben attending their son’s piano recital
3) Shang-Chi and Kate Bishop getting paired up on the MCU’s version of a popular dating app
4) Carol Danvers reminiscing about the time she went on a date with Monica Rambeau
5) Peter Parker imagining a date with Michelle Jones-Watson, before he remembers what happened to him
6) Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes going on a double date (presumably with newly introduced characters) that leads to shenanigans
7) And for the big surprise that’s actually gonna be a plot point in the next Moon Knight season, Marc Spector/Steven Grant wake up in Jessica Jones’ bed, unaware that Jake Lockley had a one-night stand with her.

LOGAN Star Boyd Holbrook Rumored To Be In Talks To Play Two-Face In THE BATMAN - PART II
Tumblr media
(source: comicbookmovie.com)
A new rumor doing the rounds online is claiming that Boyd Holbrook (Logan, The Sandman) is in talks to play Harvey Dent/Two-Face in Matt Reeves' The Batman sequel…
Plot details for Matt Reeves' highly-anticipated sequel to The Batman are still under wraps, but several rumors relating to certain characters that could be introduced have been doing the rounds over the past few months. DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn appeared to debunk reports that the likes of Scarecrow, Clayface, Professor Pyg, and Hush, were set to appear in the movie, but we're now hearing that Harvey Dent, aka Two-Face, may have a part to play. According to CanWeGetSomeToast, Boyd Holbrook is in talks to play the classic Batman villain in the upcoming sequel. Holbrook has quite a bit of experience portraying bad guys, having appeared as Donald Pierce in Logan, The Corinthian in Netflix's The Sandman, and more recently, Kaber in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. When the new DCU slate was announced, James Gunn confirmed that Reeves' "BatVerse" will remain separate from the DCU, so this movie, along with Todd Phillips' Joker sequel, will be considered "Elseworlds" tales. A new actor will don the cape and cowl for Batman: The Brave and the Bold, which will also feature a different take on Robin - The Caped Crusader's son, Damian Wayne. Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, Andy Serkis, Jeffrey Wright, and Colin Farrell are all expected to reprise their respective roles, and characters introduced in the Penguin Max spin-off series are also likely to appear. As far as official info goes, Reeves has stated that his sequel will continue this "epic crime saga," but that's about all we have to go on. One rumor did claim that the story will be at least partially based on Geoff Johns' Batman: Earth One. Of course, the first film took a certain amount of inspiration from Vol. 1, so we assume the sequel would be more influenced by Volumes 2 and 3. For those unfamiliar with the comic, Earth One takes place in the alternate continuity and features an updated and more realistic reinterpretation of the classic Batman origin and characters. Hush does not appear, but the later volumes do feature Clayface, Scarecrow, and a female take on Two-Face in Harvey Dent's twin sister Jessica. What do you make of this casting rumor? Assuming Two-Face will appear, do you think Holbrook would be a good pick for the character?

dude idk. i still think about young avengers, the original comic series all the time. how everything started out as super powered kids trying to follow in the footsteps of the greatest heroes (currently inactive bc of a horrible accident that left a bunch of people dead...) bc they were all so different and didn't fit in until one boy gathers them together and they just immediately full send go against drug dealers, armed robbers, and terrorists all by themselves until they get caught by Dad 1 and Dad 2 but then the boy who brought them all together, who started them down the path of friends (and more, nearly every1 pairs off in this series) turns out to be incubated villain # 1 and the reason the apocalypse starts and while Dad 1 and Dad 2 + Jessica Jones try to stop all these literal children from getting hurt, there's no possible way to stop said apocalypse without someone dying. and then the youngest character (14) dies, mirroring the death of her father (previous hero) so the story ends with these teenagers who bonded through blood sweat tears and serious trauma, breaking up because they lost 2 friends. they are dead. gone.
not to mention also one of the boys watched his mother be burned alive in front of him and then had his entire identity ripped from him and casually tossed aside (while this is a character whose initial character arc is centered around him struggling with his identity and being semi-nonconsensually pushed into many identities he didn't want over and over again) and his arc doesn't even really get resolved because it's solved by a sleight of hand trick against the Universe's (yes the universe, not the world's) two most prominent military powers
two other characters are the children of wanda maximoff so you can imagine how fucking great those two start out/are perceived throughout the series with so much layered prejudice and violent history both ethnically and generationally (romani, jewish, mutant)
and there's another character who's family was fucked over and forgotten about because of systematic racism that leads to the youngest member taking experimental superpowered steroids just to try and get his family's honor back and essentially throwing away his own future and health in the process
i just. think about these kids a lot.

So... You Wanna Hyperfixate on the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
As a neurodivergent person, I know what it's like to come across a piece of media and start to obsess over it. To the point where it consumes all of your thoughts and waking hours. One of my personal favorites is the M.C.U., or the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
However, there is a lot of incomplete information out there on this franchise, so I've got you covered.
What is the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
The Marvel Cinematic Universe, or M.C.U., is a multi-media franchise adapting characters and storylines from Marvel Comics, and is comprised of films, television series, short films, web series and even, appropriately enough, tie-in comics. Beginning in 2008 with the film "Iron Man", it has continued to flourish and produce new entries until the present day. For the purposes of this post, we will be covering only live-action and animated entries in the franchise, totaling 70 entries as of June 2024.
What is the Marvel Cinematic Universe About?
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is divided into two Sagas, both of which are further divided into Phases. Phases are a grouping of projects, while Sagas are a grouping of Phases.
The two Sagas of the MCU are the Infinity Saga, comprising of Phases 1, 2 and 3, and the Multiverse Saga, comprising of Phases 4, 5, and 6.
The Infinity Saga revolves around the six building blocks of reality, known as the Infinity Stones, and how they impact the lives of the groups of superheroes known as The Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy, as well as the quest of the power-hungry alien Thanos to obtain the six Infinity Stones. The Infinity Saga is comprised entirely of movies, specifically the first 23 movies in the franchise, with the 23rd, Spider-Man: Far From Home, serving as an epilogue to the entire Saga.
The Multiverse Saga, currently ongoing and roughly at its midpoint, revolves around the Multiverse, a collection of infinite alternative realities where events unfolded just slightly differently, resulting in vastly different outcomes. The villain of this saga is slated to be the time-traveling, reality-hopping Kang the Conqueror, as well as his Variants, or alternate reality counterparts. The Multiverse Saga is comprised of the 24th film (Black Widow) onwards, as well as the 13th television series (WandaVision) onwards. (See below for full film and series listings.)
There is also an unofficial Saga formally known as The Defenders Saga, comprised of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Punisher, culminating in The Defenders. The series Echo has retroactively been added to The Defenders Saga.
What is included in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
As mentioned above, we will be tackling everything except the tie-in comics, which results in 70 entries across the following formats; films, television series, short films, web series, animated series and telefilms.

[1] While Helstrom was originally meant to tie in with a Ghost Rider tv series, itself a spin-off of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Ghost Rider was scrapped and later statements from the show runner and some actors put its connectivity into question. However, the show itself slots in perfectly into the tapestry of the MCU and can be treated as equally as any other part of the franchise.
[2] The Daily Bugle is divided into three "seasons"; one marketing Spider-Man: Far From Home in 2019 on YouTube, one marketing Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021 and 2022 on TikTok, and one marketing the movie Morbius (which is NOT in the MCU), also in 2022 and also on TikTok. This third "season" is non-canonical to the MCU and can be disregarded.
What Are Some Storylines To Look Forward To?
Anti-Superhuman Sentiment: A huge undercurrent throughout the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, both films and television series, is an aversion to superhumans, which could eventually evolve into the anti-mutant hysteria of the comics when the X-Men arrive to the MCU.
Gods and Mythology: From the Asgardian pantheon with Thor to the Egyptian pantheon with Bast, Osiris and Khonshu, to the Vodou pantheon such as Papa Legba and Baron Samedi and the Greek pantheon with Zeus and Hercules, gods and mythology and alternate dimensions are present in several series of the MCU.
Demons and Witchcraft: I tried to avoid naming direct entries in this section in order to maximize surprises, but these themes are ones that truly ingrain Helstrom into the rest of franchise, tying into Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Agent Carter, Runaways, Cloak & Dagger, WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Where Can The Marvel Cinematic Universe Be Watched?
Disney+ has the vast majority of the MCU entries, at 62 of the 70 entries.
Hulu has two of the entries, the television series Cloak & Dagger and Helstrom.
Additionally, if you get a premium subscription to Hulu, you can also watch Spider-Man: No Way Home, which is otherwise unavailable to stream.
The CW App has one of the entries, the television series Runaways, due to being removed from Disney+ in May of 2023 as a result of cost-cutting measures. It can be streamed for free.
YouTube has all three of the web series; Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Slingshot, WHiH Newsfront and The Daily Bugle. Compilations of all individual episodes are searchable. Though 3 of the 10 WHiH Newsfront episodes are on Disney+ as special features for Ant-Man.
The final entry, the short film Peter's To-Do List, is only available physically on Blu-Ray copies of the Spider-Man: Far From Home film.
If you would like to request the missing entries to show up on Disney+, you can click on this link. Scroll down to the bottom of the page, look for the box labeled "Give Feedback" on the right hand side of the page, click on "Submit Feedback" in blue. A window labeled "Share Your Feedback" will appear with a drop down menu captioned "Select a feedback type". Click on "Request a movie or show" and you will be prompted to type in 3 titles. Be sure to use the official names for the missing entries, which will be listed below. Once you've entered your 3 selections, click "Submit Feedback", and you will receive a quick message that your feedback has been submitted.

Finally finished episode 13. I have questions...
Where were the rest of the Defenders during the entire season? I was half expecting Danny (at the very least) to check up on Matt (or who he would have thought to be Matt) when Dex started showing up in the Daredevil suit (since Danny was watching over Hell's Kitchen at the end of The Defenders).
Tumblr media
Matt said something before he told us to leave. He said, "Protect my city." – Danny Rand [The Defenders 1x13]

Especially once the KILLING started? That alone would have been a lightbulb moment... as in hey, I don't think THAT'S Daredevil (or even... oh, the guy finally snapped, we need to stop him before he hurts anyone else), and the three heroes band together once more.
Tumblr media
(Okay, that would have made Daredevil a completely different show altogether but some continuity would have been nice. Name-dropping Jessica Jones in one episode does not count!)
Continuity issues aside, it was great watching our boy make catwalk his way into the hotel after he'd cleverly goaded Dex into doing all the heavy lifting for him (and the final three-way showdown). Nicely done, Mr Lawyer Vigilante sir.
“I’m coming for you, Dex. And my suit.”

(Perfect soundtrack for this scene: Stayin' Alive by the Bee Gees. Trust me on this.)
I was also genuinely surprised that Dex left Fisk’s pre-ballroom security alive, since he tends to kill indiscriminately when he's angry. Then again, they are fellow agents and he can be pretty focused. Dex didn't take out Matt when he had the chance the first time they fought, mostly because killing the Man in the Mask wasn't his main objective. (A decision I'm sure he sorely regretted seeing that he did try to end Matt during their fight at the choir loft.)

[On that note, a special shoutout to Mr Potter: Holy horns, Melvin, that's one heck of a suit upgrade!
Tumblr media
Except for the final battle, Dex basically walked away from most of his fights with barely a scratch (unlike poor Matt).]

I still have questions... but Season 3 rocked, including that shot of Matt and his signature rooftop crouch at the end of the Kingpin’s storyline.

Fantastic series. 10/10 would recommend. Favourite season: Season 3, followed by Seasons 1 and 2.
