Zuko is standoffish to Jet because he is standoffish to absolutely everyone on Earth whereas Sokka is standoffish to Jet because he hates his fucking guts.

and its like you really have to know the difference if you're going to be shipping jetko and jetkka simultaneously do NOT get it twisted.. .. like yeah they BOTH hate themselves for beating off to thoughts of him but Zuko hates himself for beating off to anyone probably whereas Sokka hates himself for beating off to his sister's ex....

the absolute disaster trash fire comedy of Jet, Zuko and Sokka all having been into each other featuring Katara who is trying very hard to fade into the background of “we once liked Jet” thing because once again, the trash fire comedy of Jet, Sokka & Zuko is taking main stage.  Literally all 3 of them have tried to kill each other at some point. Also all 3 of them are weirdly similar and can relate to each other if they weren’t in the middle of a war.

Over Sokka in his base. Sokka with his plans and his mission and his not-scavanged-or-tied-together-with-twine weapons. Sokka with his sister who isn't dead and his Avatar who's actually alive and his choker that probably came from home instead of just looking close enough to the real thing to pass.

Sokka with his half-shaved head and shoulders that Jet wants to sink his teeth into until he feels the skin break and those sharp blue eyes suddenly noticing Jet staring.

"What are you looking at," Sokka scowls, barely veiled hostility, and Jet lets his eyes drift over him with all the affected laziness he has in him, making sure to smirk.

"Nothing," he drawls, letting his gaze flick up, pointed, Sokka immediately flushing in anger at the implied insult and Jet let's his smirk become more real this time.

For the "would you" ask game--would you ever write Jet/Sokka with a happy ending?

Hmm hmmmmm, think it's possible for them to bridge the gaps in their worldviews, but I don't think Sokka specifically would feel compelled to try if Jet didn't make some big overtures first. He's a lot more practical than sentimental (or tries to be, anyway) and there's plenty of fish in the seas as it were. That said, he's also not the kind to hold a grudge (that's Katara's department). So it would have to be a scenario where Sokka and Jet are forced to work together toward a common goal and they hash their lingering tensions out along the way and maybe fuck nasty about it.

(Maybe Jetzukka where something has happened to Zuko and they have to put everything aside to get their jerkbender back.)

Luca by Brand New is giving me Jetkka fic tingles.

Something something Lake Laogai, Jet left behind, somehow survives and paths cross again with the Gaang. The line at the beginning, 'do you fear for the sister I took' is what is making me feel like this is Jet's pov to Sokka. The part at the end in quotes, Jet's perspective of what he feels was the Gaang's perspective on leaving him behind.

It's not perfect, but there's good bones here. The bones to something greater. I'm gonna keep picking at this, see what comes out of it.
