For those of you in America, please consider taking this.
This is such an important and - quite frankly - gem of a set of skills, knowledge, and abilities to have. You can take a class and become certified in adult, child, or teen (or all three!) mental health first aid. The classes may be hybrid, in person, or I believe also remote. It teaches you how to handle mental heath crises and can be helpful both for you and for others. And for those of you job searching the added benefit of having a certificate like this on your resume never hurts!
Edit: You do have to pay it looks like - not sure how much depending on where you are and who the instructor is. You may be able to actually look up "mental health first aid" + your county name and find free classes.

✧.* some job searching advice *ೃ༄
I haven't coded in many manyy days oops BUT I have spent that time updating my resume and writing cover letters to send to some of my friends who are helping me with internal referrals!
Here's some job searching stuff I learned:
Most people get interviews because of connections/friends
Ask anyone and everyone you can for an internal referral (ask nicely ofc)
Once they submit the referrals make sure you start researching and learning about the company and what they do
If they have a specific product, make an account and play with it
Make a list of things you like about the service and things you would change
Recruiters/Interviewers LOVE to hear what you know and think about the companies product it gives you a HUGE adv over others
I know it feels like a ton of work but trust me QUALITY over QUANTITY when it comes to applying to jobs. Do your research!
For those of you in the job search good luck and I hope you get that job you want! (´・ᴗ・`)♡

brief resources post.
this website is intended to catalogue companies who are already working four day weeks or that sympathize with shorter work weeks.
there is a contribute button in the top right of the table grid if you know of any that are not on this list!

I don't really want to be Serious right now, but...
Work is really really busy because summer is our busy time. Which I see other people being like ah, May, it's spring! It's summer here already, so I should probably start taking three water bottles to work again because I was sweating today on the second floors of the properties. It'll be close to 90 tomorrow.
I had a dentist appointment today and they took X-rays and I was very brave about it but there were so many things in my mouth and I hate things being in my mouth. I woke up a bit too early from the gallbladder removal surgery and there was still something in my mouth and I remember immediately just pulling it out. And yes, I paid for it with severe throat pain for a few hours afterwards. I cannot stand weird and wrong and claustrophobic sensory feelings in my mouth.
There was a lot of traffic and people going slower than the speed limit and people not watching for other cars at all in roundabouts and just general traffic stress.
I am so backed up on pic editing and uploading tours and I only have two days and then I am on vacation, and emails keep coming in demanding boxes and pics for properties that are so far away and require so much driving and owners being so precious about all the pics they want, including pics of things just near the property.
And on top of all this my brother decided to get emo about my mother's memory issues today and he keeps texting me and texting me and I am like, look, I love my mother but also she's a big part of the reason I dealt with PTSD and anxiety for 20 years and I feel really weird when she texts me wanting to solve things for her and now you're also just ripping away at me and tearing me apart and demanding demanding demanding and just....
I want to rest. I want to hug the spousal person, the only person I know IRL who doesn't constantly demand me for things and who doesn't rely on me for everything and who actually listens to me and cares about me and sees me as a person, not just a problem solver and filler of endless emotional needs.
Saw a poll about "burnt out gifted kid" on here and the answers were so far removed from my experience. What if you were identified as gifted when you were seven, a few months after your father died, and then your family depended on you to think and feel for them and to solve all their problems forever afterwards?

genuinely though i love and support the idea behind DIYing and thrifting a load of shit & i try to do that where i can but its absolutely unrealistic for so many ppl. especially DIY & yet ppl bring it up so cavalier.... like yeah of course its cheap when you already have all the tools, the talent, and the space to flip furniture in. but like if youre a complete amateur its genuinely scary and a complete gamble to sink a load of money, time, and resources into stuff... -_- and its like yeah. ofc its a skill that i would love to build, and i do think a base level of it is necessary. but its like... i can watch all the youtube videos i like and prep all i like. if i try to put panelling up by myself, being 5'2'' with no upper body strength, no space to work, and a physical awkwardness i can only describe as concerning, its like im gonna blow a hole in my pocket with my go-getter attitude twice as large when it comes to having to get someone to fix it too

hi, hope you've been doing okay.
i'm almost done with renovations, but this being said, while i'll probably be coming back in the next week or so, i just want to let you know that moving forward, activity will be perpetually slow, if not sporadic. i'm also going to just focus on the threads and dynamics that feel the most nourishing to me. hope you can understand.

Don’t get your job interview advice from tiktok. just don’t. if there’s a gap in your resume you can lie about taking time off to care for a sick family member. things to that nature. it’d be silly to say you signed an NDA when your only previous work experience was retail and you’re applying for another retail job, and makes things unnecessarily complicated if you don’t know what goes into signing and NDA (and if you don’t know, they’ll know you’re lying out of your ass)
